Two things men never talk about, how they are feeling, and their underwear. My guest this week on Know Your Shift is Katie Goodrum, founder of AndThen.Like our thought patterns and mental state, underwear is private and remains largely unseen.Katie's experience of the mental health challenges of the men in her life, alongside trying to improve the landscape for her son Josh's future, led her to setting up AndThen, boxers for men, that reminds them daily of the power they have to make positive choices. ⚠️We talk about some incredibly difficult topics including mental health and suicide in this episode, but also how Katie is determined to make difference.50% of the profits from AndThen boxers go to men's mental health charities. Not only do I ask you to listen to the episode but give the boxers a try, they are rated the best boxers ahead of Gymshark, Under Armour and Lululemon and you too can make a difference. I have bought some and they are fantastic.

Three full years into the COVID-19 pandemic and the world still doesn't have a firm answer about where the virus came from.People who have been studying coronaviruses and other viruses for decades say it's overwhelmingly likely the SARS-CoV-2 virus came from animals, just as the 2002-2004 SARS virus did, the Middle East Respiratory Syndrome or MERS virus did, as Ebola does, and as most influenza viruses do.But there's no smoking gun- no animal being sold for food that carries the virus and that could conceivably have been the source of the pandemic. And that makes people suspicious and leads to speculation that a laboratory leak from the Wuhan Institute of Virology in China could have been the source.Dr. Felicia Goodrum, professor of immunobiology at the University of Arizona and co-editor-in-chief of the Journal of Virology, argues that the tone of the current debate is harmful and undermines trust in science.“The result has fueled public confusion and, in many instances, ill-informed condemnation of virology. With this article, we seek to promote a return to rational discourse,” she and colleagues wrote in a recent commentary in the Journal of Virology.“COVID-19 has cast a harsh light on the many cracks, fissures, and disparities in our public health system, and the inability to broadly come together to face a colossal crisis and focus on the needs of the most vulnerable,” they wrote.Listen as Dr. Goodrum tells One World, One Health host Maggie Fox about what's at stake.

Hi! My name is Meiven Yang, and I am a rising junior at the University of Arizona majoring in Bioinformatics and Biochemistry. I have been working in Dr. Goodrum's lab since Summer of 2021, where we study Human Cytomegalovirus (HCMV). HCMV contributes to mortality among the immunocompromised and birth defects among newborns; there are currently limited therapies and no existing vaccines against the virus. My project focuses on mapping protein-protein interactions relative to the UL136 gene, which contributes to the regulation of viral latency and reactivation. After graduation, I am hoping to either work in industry or attend graduate school. During my free time, I enjoy spending time with family and friends, working out, and painting. Thank you for tuning in to another episode of the Cohort Sistas Podcast. Here today to share her journey is Dr. Bianca Goodrum, a licensed counselor and assistant professor at Our Lady of the Lake University. Dr. Goodrum's dissertation focused on the stories of grief counselors' self-care and wellness practices and, in today's episode, she shares her findings with us, along with how she has integrated these practices into her own work. She shares why it is important to externalize your experiences and how there is a lot of strength in crying, and we talk about her father's work as a counselor, and what motivated her to choose the program she ended up pursuing, before exploring what it was like to study her doctorate while working full time. Next, we touch on the dangers of comparison and Dr. Goodrum tells us why she believes there is a seat for everyone at the table. You'll hear about her experience of transitioning from a student to dissertation writer, to searching for a job, before detailing the rare story of moving from adjunct professor to tenure track professor. Dr. Goodrum believes that the more doors we close, the more the ones we want to go through will open, and her advice to young Black women entering the doctoral space includes being intentional about your decisions and finding someone you can cry in front of. In this episode, Rob and Spence are joined by Michael Goodrum from Nashville, TN. Michael isn't your average turkey hunter and loves shaking it up during turkey season with his weekly raps which drop on, you guessed it... Fridays. For Michael, a successful turkey hunt, doesn't always end with pulling the trigger (even though you were staring down the barrel) right at him. It's about chasing the thrill...not the kill.

In this episode of By Any Means Necessary hosts Sean Blackmon and Jacquie Luqman are joined by Ian Goodrum, Senior Editor of China Daily, to discuss attempts by the US government to ban popular social media platform TikTok, other recent escalations by the Trump administration, and what the apparent joint effort by Microsoft and the US government to acquire TikTok's parent company may portend for the future of international trade. In the second segment, Sean and Jacquie are joined by Tamanisha John, a PhD candidate at Florida International University studying multinational corporations in the Caribbean, to discuss the swearing-in of new Guyanese President Irfaan Ali, racial dynamics underpinning popular support for the two major parties there, and the ways multinational corporations wield undue influence in the internal politics of Guyana. In the third segment Sean and Jacquie are joined by Ana Edwards, chair of the Sacred Ground Historical Reclamation Project, to talk about the newly-announced memorial to those enslaved and sold in the city's former slave-trading district of Shockoe Bottom, how the ongoing uprising against racist police terror factors into the decisions by city lawmakers, and how politicians like Mayor Levar Stoney are already angling to take credit for the project that city residents have demanded for years.Later in the show, Sean and Jacquie are joined by Dr. Jared Ball, a father, husband, Professor of Communication Studies at Morgan State University in Baltimore, MD, the curator of imixwhatilike.org and author of the new book, “The Myth and Propaganda of Black Buying Power,” to talk about the revolutionary significance of Black August, how mainstream media works to generate pro-regime change consensus among working people, and navigating the need to spread awareness of George Floyd's execution by police with the natural aversion to such horrors as the bodycam footage of his killing is finally leaked.

Randy Goodrum is at it again. Making great music, that is. The singer/songwriter/instrumentalist/producer has just released RED EYE, his first original solo album in decades, and we’ve found that it was worth the wait. He co-wrote the album with veteran session musician Larry Williams, along with Douglas Carr, and they struck gold. If you’ve heard RED EYE, you know that Goodrum is on point, delivering “his” style of music and on his terms by collaborating with some of the best session players in the business, including Michael Landau, Vinnie Colaiuta, Marcus Miller, Gavin Harrison, Brian Bromberg, and others. The album contains 12 tracks and they're all brilliantly different, catchy, well-written and excellently produced. Inside MusiCast is pleased to welcome back to the show, Randy Goodrum.

Leslie Goodrum is the principal of General Tommy Franks Elementary in Midland, Texas. Her school is a pilot school for the Midland Values project, where they are attempting to improve their culture by adopting values based on authenticity, service, awareness, purpose, vision, enthusiasm, perseverance, courage, faith, focus, leadership, integrity. This is through Joe Tye’s Values Coach System Brand new campus and so setting the culture from the beginning. Crockett elementary - having accountability issues, so they were shut down. It’s not the building that makes kids successful. District wide initiative for adults, but General Tommy Franks Elementary is the first one doing it with kids as well. Every morning doing announcements, self-empowerment pledge. Pickle pledge. Each student gets a bracelet for the value of the month. Vision is the core value for January, so they try to pull it in everywhere. Encouraging parents to attend trainings as well. Pickle Pledge. Authenticity is the first value and kids are using it all throughout the year. What is the thing you have done that is the authentic you? Integrity - you’ve got to do the right thing, no matter who is watching. Pickle Pledge - our pickles are happy pickles. Did you say it or did you mean it? Until you are ready to live it, you need to stop saying it. The Values give you a framework each month. Faith and purpose are needed conversations. Foundation and a framework for helping kids set goals. Parents are very supportive of what we are doing. Discipline problems are very few. Biggest challenge is making sure the value of the month is big throughout the month. As the leader, I have to set the tone, because whatever I do, everyone will follow. Arkansas native spent his formative years playing in a jazz band with future President Bill Clinton, before going on to write a ton of #1 pop and adult contemporary hits, including Michael Johnson’s “Bluer Than Blue,” Steve Perry’s “Foolish Heart,” Toto’s “I’ll Be Over You,” El DeBarge’s “Who’s Holdin’ Donna Now,” and Anne Murray’s “You Needed Me,” which earned Goodrum a Grammy nomination and became the ACM Song of the Year. Additionally, he wrote Chicago’s “If She Would Have Been Faithful,” Steve Perry’s “Oh Sherrie,” and “A Lesson in Leavin’,” which was a #1 country hit for both Dottie West and Jo Dee Messina. In 1981 Randy won six ASCAP awards in a single year and was named ASCAP country songwriter of the year. His music has been recorded by Gladys Knight, Reba McEntire, Ray Charles, Michael McDonald, Al Jarreau, Chet Atkins, Natalie Cole, The Commodores, Kansas, Dusty Springfield, Vince Gill, Trisha Yearwood, Michael Bolton, Isaac Hayes, Tammy Wynette, and many others. Goodrum was inducted into the Nashville Songwriters Hall of Fame in 2000.
Randy Goodrum has a gift. And for over thirty years, he’s shared it with us all in the form of hit songs that are timeless. His compositions have been recorded by artists such as Anne Murray, England Dan and John Ford Coley, Toto, Chicago, Steve Perry, Al Jarreau, Johnny Lange, Steve Lukather and, well, this list goes on and on. Goodrum’s extensive work with Chet Atkins early on helped to open the door to opportunities that would blossom for the rest of his career. But his success has not been a consequence of luck. It took the classically trained pianist about ten years before a songwriting effort would be recorded. He’s achieved an elite status in the world of songwriters and his accomplishments are as heralded as such names as Burt Bacharach, Carole King, Paul Williams, Carol Bayer Sager, and Paul Simon. Inside MusiCast is pleased to welcome an icon in the music business, Randy Goodrum.
With the 2022 NBA trade deadline now well behind the Boston Celtics, we have a pretty good idea of what this team is capable of after consolidating talent on the roster to bring back old friend Daniel Theis and trade for their ball-moving defensive specialist Derrick White. But the rest of the league's Eastern Conference did not stand still at the trade deadline for the most part, meaning the landscape of the Celtics' primary arena of competition changed as well -- what should we expect from the other teams Boston will be up against in the 2022 NBA Playoffs and beyond? To answer those questions in a (hopefully) engaging way, the CLNS Media podcast "Celtics Lab" brought on friends of the pod and hosts of the Off The Glass podcast "Hoopsology" to make use their focus on the entire league in figuring out what is true and false about Boston's place in a revamped East. Justin Goodrum and Matt Thomas join your usual hosts Alex Goldberg, Cameron Tabatabaie, and Justin Quinn to assess the Eastern order of the NBA -- if you want an objective view on where the Celtics stack up in it, be sure to catch this episode.Support this podcast at — https://redcircle.com/celtics-lab-nba-basketball-podcast/donationsAdvertising Inquiries: https://redcircle.com/brandsPrivacy & Opt-Out: https://redcircle.com/privacy
