Throughout history, mountains have held deep spiritual significance—serving as meeting places between heaven and earth, battlegrounds of supernatural warfare, and stages for divine encounters. From the Garden of Eden to Mount Sinai, from the transfiguration of Christ to the crucifixion, the Bible is filled with moments where mountains play a pivotal role in God's plan for humanity. But why? What is the deeper connection between these sacred heights and the cosmic battle between good and evil? In this episode of the Revelations Podcast, host Reagan Kramer welcomes pastor, author, and theologian Doug Van Dorn for an eye-opening discussion on biblical mountains, the divine council, and the supernatural forces that have shaped human history. Together, they explore how God uses mountains as places of revelation, how fallen entities have sought to corrupt them, and how Jesus' ministry strategically reversed the destruction caused by the enemy. Whether you're a seasoned Bible scholar or just beginning to explore the deeper spiritual dimensions of scripture, this episode will leave you with a greater understanding of God's plan and the victory we have in Christ. Here are three reasons why you should listen to this episode: Gain a deeper understanding of the biblical significance of mountains and their connection to the supernatural realm. Learn about the concept of the divine council and how it relates to mythological entities like Zeus and Baal, and their connection to Satan. Reflect on the practical implications of understanding the supernatural worldview, particularly in terms of overcoming worry and trusting in God's control. Become Part of Our Mission! [4:46] Doug: “"Mountains are all over the place. And the question becomes, why would that be? And that's where you need to understand first of all, that God is meeting with people on all of these mountains.” The "axis mundi," a concept describing mountains as divine meeting points, reveals their role as a bridge between heaven and earth. Mountains hold significance not only in the Bible but also in global mythologies, including Mount Olympus and sacred Native American sites. Isaiah 14 introduces the “mount of assembly,” linking biblical mountains to divine councils where heavenly beings gather. [5:10] Divine Council and Mythological Connections Mountains serve as the setting for the divine council, where God meets with angels and heavenly beings to rule over creation. Ancient mythologies mirror biblical narratives, with figures like Zeus and Baal representing the same rebellious entity—Satan. Mount Zaphon, recognized as Baal's sacred mountain, connects directly to the divine council and the spiritual battle against false gods. The fall of Lucifer in Isaiah 14 echoes the rebellion of spiritual beings, linking the serpent in Eden to later deceptions throughout history. [17:42] Eden and the Divine Council The Garden of Eden is depicted as a mountain, a place where heaven and earth intersect. Adam and Eve's use of fig leaves for covering may symbolize an early attempt to seek refuge in fallen supernatural beings. Satan's jealousy over humanity's God-given authority fueled his deception in Eden, setting the stage for spiritual warfare. The Edenic narrative connects to a larger biblical pattern of rebellion, redemption, and the ongoing struggle between good and evil. [24:01] The Post-Flood Rebellion and the Return of the Nephilim Following the flood, fallen angels were imprisoned in "gloomy chains of darkness," as described in 2 Peter 2:4 and Jude 6. Despite this judgment, the Nephilim reappear after the flood, indicating a renewed rebellion by supernatural forces. Ancient texts, including the Book of Enoch, describe how 200 fallen angels conspired to corrupt humanity. The struggle between God's people and these rebellious beings continues throughout Scripture, reinforcing the need for spiritual vigilance.. [40:16] The Golden Calf and Idolatry The Israelites, fearing God's presence, attempted to worship Him through an idol, reshaping Him into something they could control. [41:02] Doug: “Idolatry is we're going to make that God that's up there come and be in this calf, so that we can somehow manipulate him because that's too terrifying for us.” The golden calf represented a common struggle—seeking to domesticate God rather than submitting to His true nature. Idolatry in all forms distorts faith, leading people to trust in tangible symbols rather than divine truth. Understanding this historical moment sheds light on the continuous human tendency to replace God with lesser things. [43:58] Jesus' Ministry and Supernatural Battles Each phase of Jesus' ministry strategically dismantles Satan's authority over the world. [48:27] Doug: “Jesus's ministry is a multiple phased attack on Satan, and you have to understand some cosmic geography, and some of the motifs we've been talking about here are also very helpful.” The region of Bashan, known as "the land of the serpent," becomes the battleground where Christ begins His campaign against darkness. Key moments—including His temptation in the wilderness, His healing miracles, and His transfiguration—symbolize a reclaiming of territory from the enemy. Through these events, Jesus openly declares war on the forces of darkness, establishing His dominion over both heaven and earth. [52:48] Jesus' Death, Resurrection, and Ascension Calvary stands as the cosmic mountain where Jesus' sacrifice defeats sin and death. Descending into Hades, Christ proclaims victory and liberates those who awaited redemption. His resurrection seals His triumph, securing authority over all spiritual forces. By ascending to the right hand of God, Jesus asserts His role as the ultimate conqueror over evil. [57:10] Practical Implications of a Supernatural Worldview
In the summer of 1983, a stylish Venetian man named Silvano stepped onto a cruise ship and felt his shirt suddenly soak with sweat for no reason. That single moment marked the beginning of a nightmare that would steal his sleep forever. For over 250 years, one Italian family had been haunted by a mysterious curse: a disease that slowly, relentlessly destroys the brain's ability to sleep. Victims lie awake for months in a living hell of hallucinations and exhaustion, fully conscious as their bodies burn out and die. What began as a whispered “family disease” in 18th-century Venice was finally named Fatal Familial Insomnia — a prion disorder caused by nothing more than a single misfolded protein that turns the brain's sleep switchboard into a graveyard of crumpled origami cranes. This is the haunting true story of a genetic curse that science still cannot stop, and the quiet courage of the families who choose to live in the shadow of knowing — or not knowing — their fate. You don't have to be afraid.” That encounter set him on a path of boldness—leading him into war zones, Bible smuggling, and fearless ministry. (04:30) – The Global Church Is Exploding Ryan explains how the church is growing faster today than at any point in history, especially in places considered unsafe, unreached, and under-resourced. (10:30) – Learning from the Global Church Ryan challenges Western believers to sit at the feet of persecuted Christians: (12:30) – The Power of Prayer in Leadership Ryan shares research revealing that many Western leaders pray less as they gain experience—contrary to Jesus' example of withdrawing more often to be with the Father. The book Lead with Prayer was born out of hundreds of interviews with global leaders whose prayer lives looked remarkably similar. (15:00) – Mama Rose's Story One of the most moving testimonies: a woman whose home was bombed seven times, who stared down a cobra while bombs fell, and who now cares for thousands of orphans. Her prayer habit? “I tithe my time—two and a half hours with Jesus every day.” (17:30) – Prayer as Friendship with Jesus From war zones to Wall Street, Ryan highlights how true prayer is rooted in relationship: (19:16) – Walking with God Daily Reagan reflects on her own prayer walks and how they mirror the global church's simple yet profound practice of abiding in Christ. 20:59Walking with God: A Return to Eden Ryan reflects on Genesis and Acts 3, describing how sin interrupted our walk with God—and how Christ restores it. “Repent and believe… so the cool of the day may return.” 23:14Crisis & Nightmares: The Catalyst for Change During COVID, Ryan's business collapsed—and his daughter was tormented by terrifying nightmares connected to their ministry. 24:08“You've Never Cried Alone” Ryan recounts an emotional encounter with Jesus. He sees Christ weeping with him—a moment that reveals the deep empathy of God. 28:25Jesus Weeps With Us The host reflects on a past ministry experience where someone saw Jesus weeping with a rape survivor—prompting a powerful conversation on the mystery of suffering and Christ's compassion. “Jesus is weeping with you. He continually intercedes for us.” 30:28Adoption, War, and Jesus' Presence Ryan shares the harrowing story of adopting a girl whose father was tortured in Myanmar. After surviving unimaginable trauma, she experienced a healing vision of Jesus telling her: “You're safe now.” 31:55From Night Terrors to Peace Since that moment with Jesus, she has not had a single night terror. Though still healing, the transformation began in one moment of divine presence. 32:18God's Special Grace for the Vulnerable Ryan and the host reflect on how children—especially those with special needs or trauma—often experience heaven in unique, personal ways. “Why would we think otherwise? Our God is so good.” 33:22Karma vs. the Gospel: Identity and Worth in Nepal Ryan explains how Hindu and Buddhist worldviews contribute to generational oppression and trafficking—especially among the Badi people in Nepal, known nationally as “the trafficked caste.” “Until the gospel comes in and transforms their identity… they believe they deserve to be abused.” 34:48The Gospel is Exploding Despite deep-rooted oppression, the gospel is transforming hearts around the world. One academic missions expert summed it up: “Jesus is crushing it.” 36:47When Prayer Doesn't Make Sense (But You Obey Anyway) Even when the Spirit's answer seems illogical, obedience is the path of wisdom and safety. 38:13When Partners Are Imprisoned or Martyred Heart-wrenching updates from global partners, some of whom are jailed or martyred for sharing the gospel. “We created a separate fund for the widows of martyred and imprisoned partners.” 38:46Their Prayer: Let the Gospel Go Fast Despite persecution, these leaders pray not for safety but for speed—that the good news would spread rapidly. 40:02Stop Selling, Start Loving The global church models evangelism not as performance or pressure, but as presence, prayer, and love. “In America, we don't pray as much and feel like we need to be salesmen.” 40:36 — Neuroscience and Prayer Habits Research shows: 20 minutes of prayer a day for 8 weeks can literally rewire your brain—reducing fear, anxiety, and increasing joy and openness. “Our bodies are wired to fight prayer. We have to train them.” 41:49 — Free Prayer Tools Ryan mentions free downloadable prayer habit cards at LeadWithPrayer.com, designed to help individuals, families, and ministries build consistent, life-giving prayer rhythms. 43:06 — Fighting for His Daughter in Prayer Ryan shares a personal, vulnerable story of laying face-down outside his daughter's room for months, praying for breakthrough. “I don't know why it took so long—but there is a war.” 43:45 — Spiritual Battles Are Real A chilling moment of spiritual connection: a man in South East Asia has identical nightmares to Ryan's daughter—confirming they were fighting the same battle from across the world. “We were fighting together.” 46:22 — With Him, Either Way Whether through cancer, trauma, or unanswered prayer, being with Jesus is always the goal. The joy of the global church often comes from this eternal mindset. “If the goal of life is to be like Jesus, then cancer was finishing school.” 47:57 — Your Kids Aren't Your Own Surrendering your children to God's leadership is painful—but essential. Whether it's through a miracle or a challenge, they are gifts to steward. “The gifts are both miracles and challenges.” 52:04 — Intimacy Through Surrender The most profound joy comes not from ease, but from intimacy with God in suffering. Every story in Lead With Prayer ends the same way: it was worth it, because He was there. “Desire His presence… even when you don't know what's next.”
There are moments in life that break us and moments that remake us. Mo Isom Aiken's story is one of both. From an Elite Division 1, All-American athlete to a woman haunted by trauma, addiction, and suicidal despair, Mo's life took a dramatic turn when a near-fatal car crash became the very altar where heaven met earth. What followed was a supernatural encounter with the Holy Spirit that not only saved her life, but ignited a transformation so complete it would ripple through her marriage, her motherhood, and her mission around the world. This isn't just a story of redemption. It's a call to awaken to the invisible spiritual warfare waging over every soul—and to the freedom that comes with surrendering everything. In this episode of the Revelations Podcast, host Reagan Kramer sits down with Mo Isom Aiken for an unfiltered, deeply moving conversation that spans trauma, healing, and the raw power of a life fully yielded to Jesus. Mo opens up about growing up in the Bible Belt, navigating father wounds and performance-based identity, and the spiritual warfare that nearly claimed her life. Together, they explore Mo's radical encounter with God in the wreckage of her Jeep, the prophetic call that led her family from a fifth-wheel RV across 48 states to the mission fields of Nigeria, and the power of intercession that reshaped her view of prayer entirely. This episode is for the believer who feels stuck in cycles of shame or silence, the seeker longing to hear God's voice again, or the weary warrior who needs to remember what it means to defect from the kingdom of darkness and live fully alive in Christ. Here are three reasons why you should listen to this episode: Gain deeper understanding of how a supernatural encounter with God can occur amidst unimaginable personal tragedy. Learn how radical obedience—like selling everything and living in an RV—can unlock divine provision and spiritual growth. Reflect on the importance of prayer, spiritual warfare, and intimacy with the Holy Spirit in a chaotic world. Become Part of Our Mission! Just as no man can serve two masters, we cannot live in both worlds. That lie keeps us stuck, powerless, and numb to God's call. Cultural Christianity is an illusion; we should consider what full surrender actually looks like. Mo Isom Aiken, a former All-American athlete turned revivalist and prophetic voice shares her story of defection from darkness—and the fire of obedience that followed. [02:56] Mo Isom Aiken: Childhood and Early Life Mo discovered her identity through competitive sports. Despite being raised in a Christian household, her faith was cultural and lacked deep personal roots. She describes the impact of early exposure to pornography and the pressure of performance-based love from her father. Her struggle with an eating disorder and need for control remained hidden behind a mask of success. [12:22] Transition to College and Personal Struggles At LSU, Mo excels as an All-American goalkeeper but continues battling inward brokenness. [13:02] Mo: “How much of my true self and my true life can people handle? Because they have this picture of me, and yet I am destroyed inside.” Her father committed suicide, devastating Mo both emotionally and spiritually. She turns to sexual sin, secrecy, and self-harm, wrestling with suicidal thoughts and tormenting spiritual voices. Though publicly praised, she describes living with private torment and deep spiritual oppression. [20:54] Spiritual Awakening and Healing Mo survives a violent car crash and has a supernatural encounter with the Holy Spirit while trapped in the wreckage. She describes the weight and wonder of God's presence as overwhelming yet freeing. [22:58] Mo: “The kingdom of darkness was literally mad because things had been set up in my life that my gifts, my talents, my destiny, my anointing, my very God, given fingerprint of God, purpose was going to be leveraged for evil was going to advance the kingdom of darkness, if not for the mercy of Jesus” In that moment, she chooses full surrender to Jesus and receives a baptism of fire Through FCA, she found a godly community, received a baptism at LSU, and experienced revival. A two-year intimacy fast sets the stage for meeting her husband, Jeremiah, and building a Christ-centered family. [56:44] Mission to Nigeria and Angelic Visit Mo recounts a dream where an angel tells her she'll go to Nigeria to forge a deeper connection to the divine. Initially resistant due to fear for her children, she surrenders and receives confirmation from her mentors. The family spent eight months in Lagos serving under Nigerian spiritual leaders. Their time becomes a season of discipleship, humility, and spiritual equipping for future ministry. [1:14:19] The Power of Prayer: Greatest Takeaway from Nigeria Mo describes prayer as the single greatest lesson from their mission season. In Nigeria, daily prayer was non-negotiable—fostering spiritual strength, wisdom, and breakthrough. She challenges Western believers to move prayer from a fallback to a foundation. Prayer, she emphasizes, is the gateway to discernment, power, and intimacy with God. [1:21:24] Teaching the Next Generation to Prioritize Prayer Mo and Reagan discuss the difficulty of maintaining a prayerful life amid Western busyness and distractions. Mo explains how she and Jeremiah are raising their children to see prayer as essential, not optional. They commit to resisting hustle culture and modeling devotion in everyday life. Mo calls for prayer warriors to arise—those who walk in reverence, not performance. [1:32:39] Spiritual Warfare and the Call to Live Fully Surrendered Mo prays a powerful blessing over listeners for renewal, healing, and sanctification. Revival begins in surrendered hearts, not just pulpits; it is in living God's Word to be kind and loving to all those around you. It is our time to live fully awake, defecting from darkness and advancing God's Kingdom with boldness.

Rob wrote "Soul Care" and works with Renewal International, focusing on spiritual renewal and freedom in the Holy Spirit. Reagan herself had a life-changing personal experience attending a three-day soul care conference with Dr. Rob. Dr. Rob's push to bring light to the world knows few boundaries — he has travelled across the globe and brought soul care to every continent except Antarctica. [2:44] Understanding and Healing the Soul As a child, Rob experienced anxiety, faced bullies, and felt unloved. These wounds created a deep fear in him, and he always tried to hide from new environments. Through God, Rob found his soul healed. Today, he has the strength to fearlessly travel the world to spread God's healing. Reagan Kramer reflects on how many people can relate to childhood experiences that impact their soul and how they may not realize it. Rob explains that the soul is synonymous with the Old Testament concept of the heart. It is the center of human operations. Many people do not give enough importance to the idea of the soul, and Reagan thinks it is used too flippantly in the modern day. [6:35] Starting the Soul Care Movement Rob Reimer started the soul care movement after planting a church in Boston. He experienced a marriage crisis that led him to realize the need for personal change rather than focusing on the other person's issues. But Rob was able to overcome this crisis through his faith. He received principles to live by from God, and applied them to his life. Today, he feels confident enough to pass on these principles to help others, leading to the development of his book and ministry. [8:30] Narcissism and Self-Centeredness Everyone has a bias towards self. That self-centeredness is a result of sin. But focusing on oneself leads to misery, while focusing on Jesus and others brings peace. Rob describes a powerful idea: the biblical concept of dying to self as essential for experiencing abundant life in Christ. Dying to self involves overcoming self-centeredness, self-protection, and self-reliance. Reagan Kramer herself has found that this concept helped her in her spiritual journey. Without dying to self, Christ cannot be formed in a person, and they remain bound by their sinful nature. [13:05] Repentance, Brokenness, and Soul Care Dr. Rob explains the first step, identity, and its importance in Christian life. True identity is found in Christ, who makes us part of His family. The second step, repentance, heals the soul and places us in God's presence. Repentance is part of the good news of Jesus and essential for living in His light. Rob points out the Western value of tolerance with the biblical concept of sin and repentance. People are more open to discussing their brokenness and dysfunction than their sinfulness. Reagan Kramer agrees, noting that many people are desperate for healing and open to solutions, even if they don't understand the theological aspects. [26:11] Breaking Family Sin Patterns There exist patterns of sin in families that we must break. This unaddressed sin can have a devastating impact on future generations. Rob uses the example of Abraham's family sin pattern of favoritism and how it continued through his descendants. Breaking free from sinful patterns and living a holy life is a noble and honorable goal that emphasizes soul care. Furthermore, addressing these family sin patterns requires profound trust and honesty. The healing process will come by being open to each other. [32:01] Forgiveness and Overcoming Fear Forgiveness is difficult because we are afraid. Fear prevents us from accessing forgiveness. However, Rob emphasizes the importance of forgiving those who sin against us to allow God's healing and peace to flow in our lives. Rob shares his personal experience of forgiving a man who spread lies about him, demonstrating the power of obedience to Jesus' commands. Forgiveness and overcoming fear are essential for living a life free from anxiety and the bondage of sin. [49:42] Healing Wounds and Deliverance Moving forward in freedom is easier if we begin by healing wounds from the past. Unresolved anger and pain create barriers to God's healing and must be addressed. God's deliverance lets us cast out demonic spirits that cause torment and bondage in our souls. These wounds or indwelling demons might even be the result of generational curses that went unresolved. Reagan Kramer shares her personal experience of hearing demonic manifestations and the importance of the Church in setting people free.

Text me your comments or questions!Something has felt off for a lot of people lately: sudden conflict, strange setbacks, relationships turning combative, and a low-grade sense that the ground is shifting under your feet. We sit with that reality head-on and offer comfort, not hype, rooted in prayer and the Word of God.We share a vivid prophetic dream filled with earthquake-like shaking, a red beam from the heavens, and a river of magma forcing the ground open. The picture becomes a warning about spiritual warfare and an “invasion” of disruption aimed at minds first, then families, workplaces, and wider systems. One of the most unsettling insights is how deception can arrive looking normal, neat, polite, and reasonable, echoing the biblical warning about evil presenting like an angel of light. The point isn't to magnify darkness; it's to sharpen discernment and keep Jesus at the center. From there, we anchor everything in Scripture, reading 2 Timothy 3:12–15 and calling you to continue in what you've learned, rely on the Holy Scriptures, and stay grounded in discipleship. We talk about endurance, abiding in Christ, and why God may allow shaking to drive real repentance and deeper dependence. We also encourage practical protection through prayer, watchfulness, and being part of a healthy local church community with real shepherding. If you've felt isolated, consider that God may be forming a prayer closet season that becomes your refuge, not your ruin. Have you ever wondered why certain struggles—like infertility, chronic illness, or family conflict—seem to echo through generations? Are the challenges we face today silently connected to the past, rooted in generational curses, inherited patterns, and spiritual agreements we might not even recognize? The Bible speaks of the sins of the fathers affecting the third and fourth generations, yet it also shines a light of hope, offering freedom through the transformative power of Christ. These questions pull back the curtain on the unseen forces shaping our lives, revealing a profound interplay between our bloodlines, spiritual warfare, and God's redemptive plan. In this episode of the Revelations Podcast, host Reagan Kramer welcomes back Marjorie Cole, founder of Life Recovery and author of Diagnosing Your Family Tree, for an illuminating discussion that builds on their previous exploration of generational curses. With over 30 years of experience in counseling and deliverance, Marjorie brings wisdom and practical insights to spiritual healing. This episode is for anyone seeking freedom from recurring challenges, whether you're a parent wanting to protect your children, a believer wrestling with unexplained hardships, or someone curious about the spiritual roots of physical and emotional struggles. Here are three reasons why you should listen to this episode: Uncover the hidden impact of generational curses and ancestral agreements, exposing how these unseen forces might be influencing struggles in your life today. Learn practical steps, actionable strategies, and spiritual tools to heal deeply rooted issues, break patterns of trauma, and restore freedom to your family line. Understand how confronting your ancestral heritage with the Word of God can lead to lasting deliverance for you and your loved ones. Become Part of Our Mission! Proverbs 26:2 weaves into the discussion, highlighting that curses have causes—reasons that believers can tackle rather than accept as fate. [10:17] Marjorie: “There's a designer and there is a predictable pattern… So when you see that, you know there's an intelligent, something, entity, behind these calamities, behind these troubles.” [10:55] Fear, Witchcraft, and the Enemy's foothold Marjorie connects fear and witchcraft as drivers of ancestral agreements, often made subconsciously for blessings, giving Satan legal ground Reagan shared an example through infertility which illustrates how agreeing with lies—like “something's wrong with me”—keeps these curses alive through generations. Ancient potions laced with demonic spells evolve into modern traps like psychics and pharmaceuticals, each offering false solutions with hidden costs. [15:52] Marjorie: “God votes for us all the time, and Satan votes against us all the time, and we decide who we're going to believe and who we're going to go with.” [26:50] Tracing Patterns to Break the Chains Marjorie links physical issues like endometriosis to ancestral bloodshed, urging forgiveness of past generations to break curses She shares a story of a man crippled by a false diagnosis of early death, showing how agreements shape life outcomes. Rejecting labels like “bipolar” shifts the battle from medication to spiritual authority, exposing them as demonic footholds rather than destiny. Depression surfaces as a spirit of exhaustion, born from unresolved conflicts, conquerable not with pills but with the liberating truth of God's Word. [35:16] Marjorie: “The devil makes it look like God's mad at you, because you think I've got to be good to get to heaven.” [39:35] Standing Before Heaven's Court Marjorie offers a prayer process: forgive ancestors, stand as a bloodline representative, and ask God to judge demonic crimes. She specifies removing judgments like back pain or divorce, citing a case of a man's back injury tied to childhood abuse. Reagan recounts a car crash she survived, declaring defiance against the enemy's attack on her podcast mission. Marjorie suggests such events echo ancestral patterns, encouraging listeners to seek the original lie with Jesus' help. [50:24] Confronting Territorial Spirits Territorial spirits rise from biblical shadows, like the Prince of Persia, ruling over lands and lives with ancient authority. Binding them with names from birth certificates cuts their power, a practical step to reclaim dominion over personal kingdoms. [1:02:05] Unraveling Family Mysteries Reagan shares a listener's story of siblings hearing voices, with Marjorie tracing it to the mother's side and sexual assault roots. She explains schizophrenia as demonic voices from identity confusion, treatable by commanding them out, not medicating. Marjorie stresses personal agreement is ideal for healing, likening it to driving one's own life bus, not letting demons steer. Patterns like firstborn attacks urge a direct confrontation, exposing the enemy's tactics through interrogation and faith [1:17:44] Healing Kids and Building Community Marjorie advises asking Jesus to reveal kids' lies (e.g., fear from in utero trauma), clearing them as their representative. She shares a hyperactive child's healing from incubator trauma, proving the method's efficacy when specific. Enjoyed this Episode? If you did, subscribe and share it with your friends! ## **Sermon Summary: Misdirected Zeal (Romans 9:30–10:4)**How do we become right with God? Drawing from Romans 9:30-10:4, this message challenges us to examine whether we are running in the right spiritual direction or exhausting ourselves trying to earn God's favor through religious performance. Using the example of Jim Marshall's 1964 "wrong-way" run, we see a sobering truth: we can be sincere and zealous, yet completely miss Jesus. The Apostle Paul reveals a paradox—those not seeking righteousness found it through faith, while those striving for it through works missed it entirely. This message exposes the dead-end road of works-based salvation, showing that Jesus did what we could never do. Salvation is not something we achieve, but something we receive.---### **1. Salvation by Works Is a Dead-End Road*** **The Shocking Contrast:** Gentiles received righteousness by **faith**, while Israel pursued the law but failed to arrive because they sought it by **works**.* **The "Wrong Way" Story:** Like Jim Marshall, many do "right things" (effort, hustle) but run toward the wrong end zone.* **Seven Problems with Works-Based Salvation:**1. Sets an **impossible standard** of perfection.2. Produces **pride** (superiority) or **despair** (never enough).3. Shifts glory from **God to self**.4. **Misuses the law** as a ladder rather than a mirror.5. Cannot **change the heart**.6. **Rejects Christ's sufficiency**; if we can do it, He died in vain.7. Leads to **spiritual exhaustion** and joyless duty.### **2. Humble, Don't Stumble*** **The Stumbling Stone:** You either build your life on Christ or stumble over Him in offense and self-trust.* **Zeal Without Knowledge:** Israel had passion and heritage but ignored God's righteousness to establish their own.* **Paul's Perspective (Phil 3:3–9):** Paul traded his massive religious résumé for the "surpassing worth of knowing Christ," putting no confidence in the flesh.### **3. Christ the Fulfillment & Our Mission*** **The Goal:** Romans 10:4 declares Christ is the *telos* (end/fulfillment) of the law.* **Intercession:** Paul moves from debate to deep prayer for the saved. If we have received grace, we will long for others to know Him.* **The Beautiful Mission:** Salvation is near—confess with your mouth and believe in your heart. But how will they hear without someone preaching?---### **Practical Applications**1. **Check Your End Zone:** Are you trusting Christ alone or your "Christian résumé"? Repent of self-righteousness.2. **Trade Exhaustion for Rest:** Lay down performance-based "earning" and walk in grace.3. **Choose Humility:** When Scripture confronts your pride, choose quick repentance over defensiveness.4. **Relationship over Rules:** Shift from *knowing about* Jesus to *knowing* Him through daily rhythms of prayer and obedience.5. **Join the Mission:** List three people to pray for by name and look for ways to share the Gospel.---### **Discussion Questions**1. Where have you experienced the "dead-end road" of performance-based Christianity?2. What does your spiritual résumé look like, and why is it hard to let go of?3. How do you distinguish between religious zeal and actually knowing God?4. Which of the "7 problems with works" resonates most with you right now?5. How does Romans 10:4 (Christ as the "end" of the law) change your daily motivation?6. Who are you committing to pray for this week?

In our latest episode, Reagan Kramer welcomes back Pastor Doug Van Dorn as they explore the complexities of Bible translations as it relates to key supernatural verses, the concept of the divine council, nephilim and the historical changes in interpretation that have shaped modern understanding of scripture. They discuss the significance of the 'sons of God' in biblical texts, the impact of second-century rabbinical changes, and the role of scribes in preserving the integrity of the Bible. The conversation emphasizes the importance of understanding these elements to grasp the full majesty of Jesus and the richness of the gospel.Doug dives into the significance of the Nephilim and their origins in relation to Genesis 6 and why it matters. HIs insights bring clarity to often misunderstood passages, making this a must-listen for anyone seeking a deeper understanding of the Bible. This conversation is not just for theologians, but for anyone interested in understanding the nuances of scripture and its historical interpretations. Doug Van Dorn opens the conversation by addressing a common concern among Christians: "How can I trust my Bible if what you're saying is true?" He reassures listeners that while there are textual differences across translations, the Bible remains trustworthy. He cites the book of Isaiah and the Dead Sea Scrolls as examples, noting that the discrepancies are minimal, emphasizing that the Bible's transmission is superior to any other ancient texts.
