Learning from Chile's RevoltsOn October 18, 2019 - a breaking point was reached. Revolts spread like wildfire in different territories that are dominated by the state of Chile. What has been gained, and what has been lost? Who is writing the future and what is at stake? We translated and recorded an interview with Isa from Valparaìso, who reflects on the revolts, the frontlines, the Mapuche struggle, anarcho-feminism and the territorial assemblies.subMedia is entirely funded by our listeners and viewers.  If you'd like to support our work, head to sub.media/donate or check out our merch at sub.media/gear.

Martin is a legend. How many people craft phrases that become part of everyday language like “The Ultimate Driving Machine," "The Antidote For Civilization,” and “The Tightest Ship In The Shipping Business”? He comes from a different time in advertising and communication, as he describes in our conversation.I met him nearly twenty years ago. He was considering investing in the company I cofounded, Submedia, based on the medium I invented. He didn't invest, but he came to my first solo gallery show in Manhattan. We lost touch. Then I saw him speak recently. I confess a slight disposition to expect corporate writers not to engage in depth, which I recognize as a flaw in myself. He spoke about creativity, what it can be, how much we've lost it today, and the consequences of losing it. He spoke with a love of an America in hibernation now, what caused it to sleep, and how to bring it back.We talk about creativity, culture, passion, and more.Interview in Spirit Flesh magazineInsights from Leaders: A Big Idea, by Martin PurisInsights from Leaders: My Definition of a Big Idea, by Martin Puris See acast.com/privacy for privacy and opt-out information.

Greece's War on AnarchistsAt the beginning of March 2021, the streets of Athens exploded. After months of repressive lockdown measures and a hunger strike by well-known Greek political prisoner, Dimitris Koufontinas, the atmosphere was akin to a pressure cooker and the inevitable rupture was enormous, even by Greek standards. To gain some perspective on the goings on, we checked in with Tasos, an Anarchist from the Void Network.  His interview touches on everything from the history and current context in Exarcheia, to the influence played by social media and #MeToo on the Greek political situation. subMedia is entirely funded by our listeners and viewers.  If you'd like to support our work, head to sub.media/donate. The Security State, Far Right and Media Post-January 6th This week on the show, you'll hear two segments: chat with Spencer Sunshine on the far right and the government's reaction following the riot on January 6th in DC and some perspectives on political content removal and social media from anarchist media platforms ItsGoingDown and crimethInc. Spencer Sunshine Transcription PDF (unimposed) Zine (imposed PDF) First up, anti-fascist researcher Spencer Sunshine talks about the aftermath of the January 6th putsch attempt in DC, mainstream media and Democrat narratives of concerning domestic terrorism, reporting of participation of law enforcement and military in the riot, anti-fascist research, what the stepping down of Trump has meant for his radicalized base and Spencer's thoughts on claims of rehabilitation by former White Nationalists like Matthew Heimbach. There was a good article published by IGD on the state's response to January 6th and what it can mean to anti-repression activists here. Also, a great place to keep up on what's going on in the far right in the so-called US, check out IGD's “This Week In Fascism” column, soon to be a podcast. CrimeThinc. and ItsGoingDown Transcription PDF (unimposed) Zine (imposed PDF) Then, you'll hear the main host from the ItsGoingDown Podcast and a comrade from CrimethInc (both affiliates of the Channel Zero Network) talking about implications for anarchists and antifascists of the silencing of far right platforms and accounts and how similar moves have silenced the anti-authoritarian left. We talk about perspectives the media may have missed around “deplatforming” by tech giants like Patreon, Facebook and Twitter and how easily the normalization of ejecting non-mainstream narratives follows the trail of profit and power, and the importance of building our own platforms and infrastructure. Patreon Updates A little housekeeping note. For those listeners able to support us on Patreon with recurring donations, we are still fundraising to pay comrades to transcribe and format our episodes into zines moving forward. We've started with January 2021, putting out a weekly transcript for translations, search-ability, access to non-aural learners and those with hearing difficulties as well as making it easier send these interviews into prisons where broadcasts and podcasts may not reach. We are still $120 behind our base goal for this. So, if you have some extra dough you can send our way, it'd be much appreciated. We won't paywall our content ever, but for those who donate at our patreon above the $10 level, you'll get a monthly zine in the mail sent to you or a prisoners of your choosing in the US as curated by us, plus some one-time gifts. Other ways to support the project include sending us show ideas, giving us feedback, sharing us with your friends and enemies, or talking your local radio station into playing us on the airwaves! Here are the notes I read from (maybe better just to listen):Yesterday two things, I'll start with second because more poignant.Ran into old friend a few weeks ago, clubbing, Submedia.Met at bar, first time since March, ready to walk away, wasn't going to order doof. But distant, outdoor, nearly empty.Talking for about an hour, a lot on how I transitioned.Talking about TV show.As an aside, he remarked knowing my regular background made stewardship more compelling and interesting than just tree hugger. While talking, some guy starts rooting through trash can on street, throwing trash everywhere. I remark, almost act. Then he starts yelling at us, threatening.Dave, fresh from kickboxing stands and advances toward.Guy points at me! throws bottle, shatters, leaves.Five minutes later comes back, hauls off and throws bottle hard, shatters huge, all eyes are on situation.Dave advances, I back him up. Gut yells at Dave, hard to understand since mostly Spanish, threatening, fists up, mostly at Dave, partly me.Guy crosses street, Dave pursues, guy has lost advantage.Dave crosses street, in guy's face, less threatening physically, but aggressive.Through broken Spanish while still threatening Dave and me becomes clear. He felt we were putting him down for having to eat from trash.Instead of resolving or trying to reach understanding, throws bottles, so still crazy but different, not just malevolent or hurtful, defending.Dave and I walk away feeling compassion, sad that he's in that situation, and sad that his resolution involves assaulting us.Coming back workmen curious, cop asks a few questions. You may have heard that I swam across Hudson River two weeks ago today for first time since 2008, twelve years ago. At nearly 50 years old, sort of risky.Major life achievement. Why am I holding back on posting it? Because I wanted the video. Here's that story. Two years agoLast year, friend commits, backs out for reason he could have known.Invite other friend, he loves it, life goal for him too I knew he was swim instructor, life guard too. Says he'll bring equipment.I say, so I don't need to bring a camera. No, he has one. Before swimming, I interview Joe De Sena and get invited to Vermont.I invite friend, who is overjoyed, another life achievement. He's marketing his coaching, sees huge benefit to webcasting from Spartan Race farm.Joe and I have hit if off, hence the invitation to an invitation-only event, plus as I've shared, my carrying my rowing machine and kettle bell to roof. I offer to introduce him to Spartan community. As long as I'm there, I intend to share friends with friends. We swim across, I'll share in post about swimming.Ferry approaching us, scary. He jokes, good to have white person in facing authority. After we reach shore, I hold on to his swimming equipment so ferry people don't identify him as swimmer they thought breaking lawn Before Friday, he says he can't drive. Family needs car.I feel disappointed, but contact Spartan Up people. We go into overdrive finding someone I can ride with. Many potential options, but only one works. I have to take train to.Connecticut early next morning, but I make sure space for my friend.Turns out he can't make early ride. After we get back I text him how he would have liked it but next time, and ask him about video. No response.Read text trail. Our mutual friend defends him. Says I'm making a big deal about nothing, but sends twenty texts. What's going on?I give up. Confused about what to do as weeks pass that I can't share about life event without explanation. Finally yesterday he emails me. Read email. My read of situation: I didn't bring camera because he said he would create. Never discussed charging. Now I have huge interest in something he has uniquely and holds it ransom, having said he would take care of it so I didn't try, as I wouldhave. So I figure I'll write him and remind, when I offered, it sounded like major life event. I invited as friend. No thought to charge for conceiving or planning, but what price would he consider fair?No thought of introducing him to Joe and Spartan community, happy to help him make that invitation into making him look great to his community. Now, of course, I see I dodged a bullet as if he started nickel and diming them, it would have made me look bad.But no thought of charging him for introduction. On the contrary, put in extra work to make sure he would be welcome and could get a ride. All he had to do was send a link to a file. Instead he holds it ransom for two weeks, maybe indefinitely, and tries to make money off me.Cheap nickel and dime stuff. I don't make money on my blog. I don't know where he's coming from, but taking advantage of my huge demand and scarcity he created, whether intentional or not, deceptively. When I asked him if I said anything offensive, I knew I hadn't. I was giving him an out from behavior anyone I know would feel embarrassed and ashamed to be doing.Race and gender seemed to play roles in these interactions. Would the guy have thrown a bottle at us if we were female? He was definitelyracist toward Dave. Would friend have tried to scam me if female? Comment on race while swimming would have been called micro aggression or macro if reversed. Was I targeted because I am white or male? I can't say because I don't know their hearts and minds. But I know this. When I share how I suffer, people consistently tell me how others suffer more. Nobody ever asks my experience.Do I need for the bottle to hit me and knock me out, for the guy with the knife to cut me for people to stop telling me to put it in perspective? Can you imagine lecturing a woman victim or a black victim about distractions from their experience? All this prelude to what I'm getting at People often send me to articles describing how inequality feels when you have less. When you start the race behind the starting line. Many of these articles describe how you can never escape feeling of being outside, being other, not being understood. That's how I feel. Maybe there's a white male suburban culture blind to suffering, where cash is free and no one hurts. I don't know. It's as foreign to me asevery description I've come across.I'm aware of my sex and race every day, all the time, and how people see me as less than human, as fair targets for violence, as fair targetsfor scamming.Twice in two weeks after deciding to open up on race. Do you think that's coincidence? Sorry, three times. No, it happens all the time, since my entire life. I could tell hundreds of stories like this.I see marches full of whites saying how bad it is for blacks and other people of color. I see videos of white kneeling before blacks askingforgiveness for I guess ancestors' crimes, or system I am not an ally for equality. Nobody wants equality more than I do. People of other skin colors or sexes don't because of their skincolor and sex know racism or sexism or homophobia or pick your stereotype and I don't or can't because I'm white.I know it. I live it. If you can't accept that, I hope you get over your stereotype and see me as a person who feels pain, who is attacked, who started behind the starting line too and then gets beat up along the race but gets told he had a head start and says he caused getting beat up or at best those assaults downplayed or ignored, then told if I really understood I would see my privilege. All these whites and men saying how bad it is for others, are they really not suffering? If so, I'd like to learn what it is to be white and male like them because it is as far from my experience as anyone else described their distance.I think more likely, they aren't comfortable sharing their troubles and are only postponing actual open, honest talk and action about equality. Everything I see seems consistent with white bad, male bad, but we aren't bad. We're just like everyone else. There is racism, sexism, homophobia, and more. The path we are on will lead not to the end of these things, but to putting different groups on top or battling it out.Anybody can see that when one group says the best thing you can do is shut up and listen, while also claiming diversity and inclusion, you can see who has the power in that relationship.Everyone has their story. I'd like to say nobody got a free pass or automatically feels understood. Possibly many whites and males do, which is hard for me to grasp, but if so, their story is not my story, nor the story of many other whites or many other men and to paint me with their brush further beats me up on this privilege race track analogy I didn't make up but that people keep imposing on me. People who know me increasingly tell me that my story and experience are different, implying that maybe I do know suffering more than theaverage white or male. Most haven't felt such lifelong repeated assault from women and people of color. Either I'm a special case, in which case it would seem my voice has value and people should listen more to me. Or I'm not, in which case we should recognize that all whites and all men suffer too and the starting line analogy starts falling apart.Or maybe you say I haven't really suffered, in which case what more do you need? How many more women need sexually assault me, what some would call rape, how many men do I need to know sexually assaulted and raped, how many whites victimized? What does it take?I believe everyone has known this pain. If not, maybe my voice can help illuminate what by any definition except white bad male bad heterosexual bad is exclusionary, non-diverse, sexist, racist, and all the other stereotypes exactly when claiming the opposite and trying toachieve the opposite.I believe it doesn't take much to pursue seeing equality of humanity in each person, but we aren't doing it. At least I don't see it in the protests nor the counter protests. My issue is the environment. I believe working together on what ties us together and transcends skin color, sex, orientation, age, etc -- project-based learning -- can solve these problems more than marches.Yes, there's police brutality, unequal access to resources, and more.If you want to see suffering, as an American, look at what your system no matter your color or anything does to people everywhere for your comfort and convenience, to ourselves. It's not litter, it's sterilized, cancer, birth defects, war, famine on scales greater than the wholepopulation of this country, and not just this country, even within the countries suffering most, people there contributing to this system.Even greater suffering, look at future generations to make today look like a walk in the park IF WE DON'T ACT TOGETHER TODAY TO STOP POLLUTING and reverse this system that relies on pollution and treating others as inhuman independent of their skin color or anything else.Beneath everything else, we breath the same air, drink the same water, and eat the same food from the same land and seas.Focusing on those things, I believe, can bring us together in common humanity more than anything else. In the past, sports, military, arts, science, and other cultural activity has helped us overcome stereotypes.I think of Jackie Robinson, Muhammad Ali, Ping Pong diplomacy, Zora Neale Hurston, Duke Ellington, Paul Robeson, Marie Curie, countless men sharing the same foxhole in battle who learned to love each other I believe that stewardship, loving nature, battling the systems that pollute, impoverish, and separate us will bring us together like nothing before.Beneath skin color, beneath genitals, beneath it all, we breath air, drink water, and eat food. Frankly I see almost no one seeing that starting point, nor fighting the systems taking away even that. But I am. If you see me as a white who doesn't understand non-white or a male who doesn't understand non-male or heterosexual who doesn't understand the rest of that rainbow, then you don't understand meeither. Now let's restore the nature we all need to live together. The COVID–19 crisis presents both extreme dangers and opportunities. As our lives are threatened by a new virus, our freedom is menaced by authoritarians intent on using this opportunity to set new precedents for state intervention and control. On the other hand, the collapse of the global capitalist economy and unprecedented social crisis are opening possibilities for refusal and resistance that we could not have imagined even a month ago. How can we keep ourselves healthy while resisting the intensification of control and pressing our advantage to undo capitalist relations? To open our discussion of life and resistance in the new pandemic landscape, we present the recent CrimethInc. text Surviving the Virus: An Anarchist Guide, which explores how to apply anarchist tools such as affinity groups and security culture to organizing our lives during the pandemic. We discuss the significance of nationalism and xenophobia in political discourse around pandemics today and in history, including the intriguing story of how the so-called “Spanish Flu” of 1918–19 got its name. Comrades in Italy offer us Against the Coronavirus and the Opportunism of the State, their report on the early days of the pandemic and quarantine in and around Milan. Before COVID–19 hit, millions already struggled to afford rent, mortgage, or loan payments; today, all but the wealthiest face ruin, caught between either sickness or poverty. It's inevitable that most of us will not be able to pay the bills next month—but what we do about it is up to us. This week we are super pleased to present an interview done with Sima Lee, who is a queer Afro-Indigenous hip hop artist and community organizer of long standing, about a recent raid that occurred at Maroon House in DC this March. We speak about Maroon House, its story and what it is in the process of becoming, the ask for support in helping this movement build and heal from the brutal police repression, her newest album Trap Liberation Army, and many more topics. Sima Lee has given some interviews recently about her political trajectory, her life, and relationship to anarchism in detail. Rather than having a repeat of those words, we are going to link her past interviews below! A History of Le Smashy-Smash There have been at least 8 recorded hockey riots in Canadian history. While often dismissed as simply drunken hooliganism, these events actually reveal important social & class tensions, and we can learn a lot from them. On today's episode of Changing on the Fly, we walk you through a brief history of hockey riots, starting with the Maurice Richard Riot in Montreal on March 17, 1955, and ending with the most recent, the Vancouver Stanley Cup Riot of June, 2011. Our guests on the program today are Dr. Jenny Ellison, Curator of Sports and Leisure with the Canadian Museum of History, and co-editor of the anthology "Hockey: Challenging Canada's National Game", as well as Franklin Lopez, independent journalist and founder of the anarchist video collective Submedia. SubMedia is an anarchist video collective based in Montreal. Founded in 1994, they have been putting out high-quality video for more than two decades, featuring satirical takes on the news, “riot porn”, explanations of anarchist concepts, calls to action, and more, always with a strong dose of humour. Their latest project is called Trouble, and features in-depth interviews about a new theme each month. Check with your local anarchist community space to see if they are screening monthly screenings – if not, start your own! I sat down with JR, a member of the SubMedia collective, to speak about the trajectory of the project, some philosophical questions about anarchist media, the spectacle of resistance and repression, their recent coverage of the crisis at Unist’ot’en, and more.

This week we feature two segments, the first on anti-pipeline resistance at the Gidimt'en Camp in Canada and second with JR from sub.Media about Mental Wellness and the recent Trouble episode on the subject. Wet'suwet'en Pipeline Resistance, so-called BC First up, we'll hear from Delee Nikal, a Wet'suwet'en community member from the Gidimt'en clan and the Cas Yikh House, a First Nation in so-called British Columbia, Canada. In 2009, Wet'suwet'en members of the Unist'ot'en clan (also of the Wet'suwet'en nation) began actively blocking pipeline workers and government officials from accessing their land without prior and fully informed consent of the nation on the land. Over the years, Unist'ot'en has become home to various structures to not only block the passage of the pipeline but also to create opportunities for indigenous folks to heal themselves and promote their culture.  On December 14th, the Canadian Supreme Court pushed through an injunction on behalf of Coastal GasLink (owned by TransCanada) threatening the Wet'suwet'en community defending its land at Unist'ot'en with police invasion. Following this, a public statement was made by the 5 hereditary chiefs of the Wet'suwet'en for all of the clans to block pipelines on their land. The Wet'suwet'en people have no treaties with the Canadian or provincial government, their land is unceded and sovereign territory within the bounds of what's claimed by Canada. According to United Nations Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples, Article 10: “Indigenous Peoples shall not be forcibly removed from their lands or territories.” This includes RCMP, and/or military removal of Indigenous Peoples occupying their territory , say the land defenders. They also point out that the 1997 Supreme Court of Canada ruling in the Delgamuukw/Gisdaywa court case affirmed that Wet'suwet'en title, based on the traditional clan governance system, was never extinguished. In the days since this interview was recorded, an update to the injunction by the Canadian Supreme Court was released that updated names and places to be targeted by police action and the chiefs were informed by the Royal Canadian Mounted Police, or RCMP, a Canadian Federal police force that their people and their spaces would likely be attacked by the RCMP in coming days to move forward on the building of the Coastal GasLink pipeline. The Wet'suwet'en resistance to the pipeline is asking for native folks to come to help defend the land from further Canadian incursion, for allies and accomplices to engage in solidarity actions to pressure and embarrass the Canadian government and spread word of the resistance of Wet'suwet'en people on their sovereign lands in defense of the earth, air and water that all of us share on this planet. You can inform yourself more by visiting wetsuweten.com and keep up on updates via their fedbook page named "Gidimt'en Checkpoint visit: Wet'suwet'en Access Point on Gidimt'en Territory". International Call to Action for Gidimt'en Access Checkpoint for Tuesday, January 8th, 2019 JR of sub.Media on Mad Worlds and Trouble And secondly, we are going to present an interview with JR, who is a member of the subMedia collective about their recent Trouble episode called Mad Worlds. Trouble is a monthly mini documentary series from this collective which highlights different aspects of life and struggle on the far left. It's meant to be watched in groups to promote discussion and counter the increasing isolating aspects of modern day existence. The episode “Mad Worlds, Redefining Sanity Through Struggle” explores the concept of sanity and how this is intrinsically linked to the white hetero settler colonialist patriarchy, and also gets into the psychiatry industrial complex and what it could mean to be on either side of that structure. This is the first time that me and Bursts have interviewed someone together, so let us know what you think of that! To see more from subMedia, including It's The End Of The World And We Know It And I Feel Fine, also called The F*cking Show which features anarchist news analysis and reporting from the infamous character of the Stimulator, also they do a semi regular anarchist/antifascist hip hop workout show called Burning Cop Car (which we've drawn on multiple times for music to score The Final Straw), and of course Trouble, you can see all that at https://sub.media. The Guillotine
IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT!

The Guillotine

Play Episode Listen Later Jan 2, 2019 10:47

Transcription of the Announcement:  As many of you know, The Guillotine is done, canceled. There will never be another Guillotine episode again.  We cannot, and will not, keep the show around and merely plug in another co-host, that would be absurd. We had a great run, and we deeply appreciate all the love and support The Guillotine has garnered over its one-year existence. We tried to do something totally new and unapologetically militant, and because of that we gained dedicated listeners as well as a long list of enemies; many of whom we were happy to earn. The point of this announcement, however, is not to reflect on the show nor to reflect on the events that have brought the show to its end. If you are interested in that side of things, I have made public statements on my personal twitter page that you can check out. I've also had long private discussions with family members and close comrades about this issue, as I prefer to deal with these sorts of things privately rather than publicly. Either way, the point of this announcement is to convey as much practical information as I can in as effective and succinct a manner as possible, so here we go:   Starting in February 2019, we are launching a brand-new multimedia project under the name “Red Spectre”. It will be hosted by me and Alyson Escalante, a comrade of mine who has appeared on two Rev Left episodes, our Gender Abolition & Michel Foucault episode as well as what I regard to be one of the best episodes of Rev Left to date, our State and Revolution episode. Along with a new name, a new aesthetic, and a new set of hosts, comes a brand new show structure as well. We will release one episode a month, both in audio podcast form as well as in a produced video form on Youtube. Each show will be in two parts: the first part will be Alyson and I working through a theoretical text (much like our State and Rev episode), and the second part will be us applying the lessons from that text to modern political events, global news headlines, popular culture, and contemporary leftist organizing in order to bring the theory to life and use real world examples to explicate the major themes and arguments of whichever work of theory we are tackling that month. Our goal here is twofold: to bring theory and practice together in an illuminating, engaging, and educational way, as well as to break onto the YouTube platform, a platform too often dominated by the right, and make radical leftist politics more accessible to even more people. We will also be offering bonus content on our patreon, but we will get to that in a minute. Now, before I move on, I want to address something that a fraction of you may be bummed about. The Guillotine was a show hosted by two people on the left with radically different tendencies; me on the Marxist, Leninist, and Maoist side, and my co-host on the Insurrectionary, Anarchist, and Egoist side. Many people loved that dynamic, as it de-emphasized sectarianism, promoted dialogue across tendencies, and was welcoming to comrades all across the radical left wing of the political spectrum.  However, my comrade and new co-host Alyson is a principled Marxist-Leninist, and our new show will focus on the Marxist tradition heavily as we are both of that tradition and operate within it. I personally feel that this is the right move for me and for what I want to do intellectually and creatively at this juncture in my political development. Now, to be clear, we will also de-emphasize hyper-sectarianism and offer a show that is, in some ways, even more welcoming to new listeners and comrades who are still learning and finding their place on the Left. But we will not have a consistent anarchist voice on this new show. In light of that, I want to offer some recommendations of anarchist podcasts and media outlets from comrades who prefer that tendency to go check out and support. We will list as many of these as possible in the show notes of this episode, and when we post this online, people should feel free to add more anarchist shows in the comment section for those interested. Given this relative absence of Anarchist voices on our new show “Red Spectre”, I will strive to ensure they continue to have a place on Rev Left Radio, where we've already done dozens of shows with anarchists. Moreover, Rev Left has, and will continue to, launch spin off shows on a wide range of topics which are hosted by a wide range of people on the Left. Our weird left spin off show, Black Banner Magic, for example, is hosted by one of the most principled and hardest working anarchists I've ever met and focuses on anarchist politics alongside the occult. Additionally, 2/3rds of all the patreon money for Black Banner Magic goes to fund the Omaha Freedom Fund, which is an anarchist organization that assists prisoners of the state in paying their bail. We are also working on bringing an anarchist journalist comrade of mine onto Rev Left to do correspondent segments covering the elections in 2019, which should be incredibly fun and interesting. Lastly, we encourage people to check out anarchist-led podcasts and outlets like Coffee with Comrades, Its Going Down, Solecast, and The Stimulator. You can also check out the Channel Zero Network for an entire podcast network of anarchist shows if you are interested. This brings us to our next point, which is perhaps the single most important thing to take away from this announcement, so listen up comrades:  Instead of simply throwing away The Guillotine's Patreon page, The Guillotine's LibSyn hosting site, and The Guillotine's social media platforms and starting with nothing, we will be taking over that infrastructure, scrubbing it clean, and launching our new show on those platforms. We are giving folks the entire month of January to hear about this plan, and to act according to their own wishes. If you do not want to support our new project on Patreon, we totally understand, we thank you so goddamn much for your support up to this point, and we are giving you a month to retract your patreon subscription and put it elsewhere. HOWEVER, if you are interested in our new project, if you want to be on the ground floor of our Patreon and help give us ideas on what sort of bonus content you would like to see from Alyson and I, if you believe in Dave and I's ability to create exciting new projects from scratch as we've done so many times before, and if you basically just want to support a brand new radical leftist multimedia and multi-platform project while forming personal relationships with Dave, Alyson, and Me, then we encourage you to stick around and launch the Red Spectre WITH US! Additionally, and this is super important as well, since our new show will launch in February and we will not be putting out content for the month of January, we pledge to you, right here and now, that if you stick around through January, NONE of the patreon income for this month will go to Dave and I. Not a goddamn penny. Instead, every cent of our Patreon money for the month of January will be donated to the Nebraska Left Coalition, a political organization that I helped found, a member of the Marxist center, and an organization that, we are proud to say, is majority dominated and led by women and LGBTQ comrades. We at NLC are launching a big anti-gentrification campaign in 2019, as well as smaller projects like building hydroponic gardening systems so people can be food self sufficient through the harsh Nebraskan  winter, loaning out money with no interest to low income members of our community, putting together and distributing necessity bags for people without homes in our community, organizing our third annual May Day event, and much more! So, if you stick around through January, 100% of your Patreon donation for that month will go to this organization and will help fund programs which materially help poor and working people. And in February, as I said, Red Spectre will publish our first episode, and all of you who stick around will be there to help steer this new project, give us feedback on what you want to see, and help create the patreon bonus content for the show going forward. To ensure as many patrons as possible hear about this, I will be messaging this announcement to every single member of our Patreon individually, publishing it on The Guillotines RSS feed, and posting it on social media. We are dedicated to being as transparent and open about all of this with our supporters as we possibly can. Before we end, I want to take a brief moment to thank you, from the bottom of our hearts, for every single listener and supporter of The Guillotine over the past year. We strove to give as many of you as possible a platform and a voice on the show, and in return you gave us one of the most loyal and loving listenerships of any podcast. We built a diverse and international audience by being unabashedly and unapologetically anti-fascist, anti-imperialist, and anti-capitalist. We had listeners who ranged from teenagers to middle aged, who called in from places like Argentina, Brazil, Denmark, and beyond, and who consistently took up our call to organize in their communities and to rebel against reactionaries on every front. We will never forget that love and solidarity, and we will carry that very same spirit into our next project and into every project we do; and we sincerely hope that many of you will stick around and stand side by side with us as we once again try to elevate class consciousness, offer sharp and principled leftist analysis of current events, bolster and expand the leftist media landscape, and build a community of comrades rooted in compassion, struggle, solidarity, and a militant rejection of every form of domination and oppression that exists on this smoldering planet. With endless appreciation, bottomless love, and infinite solidarity, Goodnight.   ----------------- Anarchist shows from Channel Zero Network: IGDCast The IGDCAST is a weekly podcast of It's Going Down which features interviews with participants in social movements, struggles, rebellions, projects, and organizations. In today's episode of the solecast I sit down with Frank Lopez to discuss Submedia's new film in their ongoing Trouble series, “And You Don't Stop.” And You Don't Stop is a documentary about radical hip-hop as done by grass roots activists. Its an excellent look on hip-hop's roots, its evolution and highlights some artists that are doing amazing work today. In our conversation we talk about: -Hip-hop rising from the failures of -Neoliberalism in the South Bronx -The rise of the Zulu Nation -The importance of aesthetics -The role music can play in social movements -Public Enemy and some of Franks favorite artists of the 80s/90s -Combatting sexism in Rap -What rap can learn from punk and why we need to build up a network of radical hip hop based social centers Frank also goes in depth talking about the artists he highlights in the documentary, the work they do and their music. Trouble #15: And You Don't Stop It's often said that hip hop is more than just a type of music…. it's a way of life. A code, a set of practices, an aesthetic and a way of handling yourself. And despite the efforts of industry executives to commodify it and strip it of its subversive potential, hip hop remains a lifestyle firmly rooted in the daily struggles faced by oppressed peoples around the world. It is a weapon, masquerading as culture. In this month's episode of Trouble, subMedia explores hip hop as a potent site of revolutionary politics, drawing on the first-hand knowledge and experiences of some of Turtle Island's baddest grassroots emcees: Ant Loc, Mic Crenshaw, La Marea, Sima Lee, Lee Reed and Mare. Just a heads up that some of the dialogue in the film is in Spanish, so for English speakers we recommend turning on the subtitles by clicking CC on the video player, and/or downloading the SRT file – particularly if you plan on using a hard copy of the video for screening purposes. As a bonus, The Stimulator brings us a very special sedition of Burning Cop Car, featuring the music of the emcees we interviewed for Trouble #15. Click here to check it out.

In this episode, I talk with Franklin Lopez, also known as the Stimulator, host of the SubMedia program "Here's The Fuckin' News," and former host of "It's The End Of The World As We Know It (And I Feel Fine)." In this conversation, Franklin discusses the aims of the SubMedia media collective, as well as Franklin's iconic role as the shit-talking riot-loving anti-authoritarian character the Stimulator (currently the host of SubMedia's "Here's The Fucking News"). Franklin also gets into the humble role filmmakers and content generators have in collective organizing and coordinating direct action, as well as the catch-22 of using social media platforms like Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and the like to promote independent media and news - while simultaneously trying to build decentralized forms of online organizing and social media outside of centralized corporate media platforms. "subMedia is a video production ensemble, which aims to promote anarchist and anti-capitalist ideas, and aid social struggles through the dissemination of radical films and videos. Founded in 1994, subMedia has produced hundreds of videos on everything from anti-globalization protests to films about shoplifting." As we reconnect to plan a new year of resistance this January 20th, what lessons can we take from the inspiring but traumatic year that was 2017? In Episode 61 of the Ex-Worker, we interview three anarchists who reflect on their role on the front lines of struggles against the state and fascism over the past year. Hex, who survived a shooting attack by a fascist at a Seattle anti-fascist demonstration last January 20th, offers perspective on questions of justice, violence, patriarchy, and compassion, the critical importance of healing, and redefining resistance. An anarchist of color from Charlottesville discusses how the events there have impacted anti-fascist resistance and updates us on court cases, grand jury proceedings, and opportunities to show solidarity. And Miel, who was recently acquitted on all charges in the first trial of J20 defendants from the DC counter-inaugural protests, traces the significance of the J20 case, state strategies of repression, and lessons we can take with us as we move forward into a new year of struggle. The episode wraps up with updates from several other anarchist media projects about their plans for the new year, prisoner birthdays, and more. {January 20, 2018}   -------SHOW NOTES------     Table of Contents: Introduction {0:01} Getting Started: Why the Right Actually Can't Shoot Us {2:35} Interview with Hex, Survivor of Fascist Shooting in Seattle {9:35} Interview with Anarchist of Color from Charlottesville {52:30} Interview with Miel, Acquitted J20 Defendant {1:10:16} 2018 Previews from Other Anarchist Media Projects {1:35:04} Prisoner Updates and Birthdays](https://nycabc.wordpress.com/pppow-birthday-calendar/) {1:43:26} Conclusion {1:46:45} On January 20th, mark the one year anniversary of counter-inaugural and anti-Trump protests by connecting with others and laying plans for the next year of resistance! Since defeating the Unite the Right rally in August, radicals in Charlottesville have been on a roll: shutting down UVA Bicentennial celebration under the slogan “”200 years of white supremacy,“ with three people arrested; shutting down an October 10th Planning Commission meeting declaring ”No More Business as Usual"; and a whole week of resistance events. On February 2nd, there will be a court date for some of the comrades against whom fascist Jason Kessler is pressing charges for shutting down his attempt to have a press conference the day after Heather Heyer's murder; turn out to show support if you can, or stay posted for updates. Miel, recently acquitted J20 defendant, referred to Defend J20 Resistance and their ongoing fundraising campaign to support the remaining 180+ defendants facing charges for protesting Trump's inauguration. Many J20 events this year will be screening the new film by our friends at Global Uprisings, titled “Antifa.” Check it out! Namely, the fact that they specifically chose to march on the Jewish holy day of Yom Kippur and that their originally proposed march route was chosen to pass by a synagogue, a clear act of intimidation, if not staging for an outright attack. On the Schmooze Podcast: Leadership | Strategic Networking | Relationship Building

Today's guest is an “astrophysicist turned new media whiz” who has earned five Ivy League degrees and holds six patents. He helped build an X-ray observational satellite for NASA, and has co-founded and led several ventures. A serious athlete, he has completed six marathons and competed at the World and National level of Ultimate Frisbee. He has swam across the Hudson River, and has done burpees every day for six years, 90,000 and counting. Although his passions are dramatically diverse, his dedication to excellence in them all has established him as a thought leader in fields that include science, invention, entrepreneurship, art, leadership, coaching, and education. My guest co-founded Submedia, which brought to market one of his inventions – a technology to display motion pictures for subway riders to enjoy between stations, thereby pioneering the field of commercial in-tunnel media. Submedia has grown worldwide to install dozens of displays in the Americas, Europe, Asia, and Australia. His book “Leadership Step by Step” is a powerful and practical guide to help readers cultivate key abilities, behaviors, and beliefs through experience. This isn't your run of the mill leadership book. Please join me in welcoming Josh Spodek. In this episode we explore: how he defines leadership: “To influence at least one other person to achieve a common goal.” his poor people skills early in his career was a blind spot that led to him losing his company and a humbling “ah ha!” moment in business school not being born with leadership skills doesn't mean you can't acquire them - through experiential learning. “You can't read to get integrity. No amount of lectures you can listen to to get persistence.” the challenge of communicating how different his leadership lessons are from traditional learning. Curious? This week we speak with two folks who've been active on the street of St. Louis since white ex-cop Jason Stockley was let off for the murder of black father Anthony Lamar Smith. We also remember Scout Schultz, a 21-year-old queer student organizer killed on Saturday by Georgia Tech police. There's lots of reports from anti-fascist actions, with a particularly woop-worthy one from the Juggalo March this past weekend in Washington, D.C. At the end we announce some anarchist book fairs and upcoming actions against the alt-right in Berkeley and neo-nazis in Sweden. {September 20, 2017}   -------SHOW NOTES------   Table of Contents: Introduction {0:00} Headlines {1:55} Feature: Report from the streets of St. Louis after the Stockley verdict {12:13} Repression Roundup {23:25} Prisoner Birthdays {27:35} Next Week's News {29:00} Upcoming anarchist bookfairs: The Radical Book Fair pavillion at the Baltimore Book Festival September 22–24. We mention Submedia's excellent show Trouble, which has an upcoming episode this month on counter-insurgency. They do great work, so throw them some taco money while they are fundraising this month. From Submedia: “After years of suffering the Stimulator's taco farts in silence, we'd reached our limits. Plus, we wanted to shift gears and embark on an ambitious new project – a monthly documentary series called Trouble, intended to be screened collectively as a tool to help spark critical conversations around local organizing. So when we pitched the idea to Stim and he refused to go along with this new direction, we decided he had to go. Well… turns out we fucked up. It's not that we regret launching Trouble, or have any plans to stop making new episodes. Far from it. We've received tons of positive feedback on the project, and are stoked to see trouble-makers have started dozens of screening collectives in cities across the world. What we didn't realize was exactly how much work goes into producing a 30 minute interview-driven documentary every month, and how little time that would leave us for our other projects. So, suffice to say… we've been reconsidering our decision for some time now. But the straw that finally broke the camel's back was when alt-right shitlords targeted us last month with a mass snitching campaign, and successfully got Paypal to cancel our account – wiping out, in the push of a button, a monthly sustainer base that had taken us ten years to build up. Interview This week, we're featuring two segments. Kara Wild The first conversation is with a supporter of Kara Wild. Kara is an anarchist, a trans woman, an artist and is currently incarcerated and awaiting trial in France for participation in the Nuit Debout protests that swept across France in 2016 against changes to labor laws in that country. Kara was arrested on May 16, 2017 and will finally be going to trial Sept 19-22nd and so could use some immediate support. More information on Kara's case can be found at freekarawild.org. Here's a little background on the Aachen robbery case referenced in the interview. And here's a guide to writing to Lisa of the Aachen Case Solidarity to Aachen from International Revolutionary People's Guerrilla Forces Info about the Kalimero Solidarity Group An article about Damien's release An article about Damien being beaten Kara retracts her apology that she was weaseled into giving to the judge by her previous lawyer. She really regretted it and after Krem was arrested, she decided to retract her apology. To write to Kara: BRAULT, David (Kara) #428682, MAH de Fleury, 7 Ave des Peupliers, 91705, Fleury Merogis, Cedex, FRANCE Conflict in Movement Next, we do something a little experimental. We present a conversation with a member of an anti-authoritarian movement in Europe. We don't say what movement. We talk about conflict internal to their movement, but we don't name the parties involved. The conversation was conducted from an anti-authoritarian perspective, in the interest of creating heterogeneous communities of struggle. The purpose of this recording is to promote a mental exercise on the part of the listener to plug in their own experiences in movements with many different trajectories inside of it. The anonymous nature of the conversation was in part to not contribute to internal conflict to the movement, conflict is better addressed between parties involved than with an outside party (our radio show) who's interest may not be the same as the movement. I hope that this conversation is helpful, for all of it's purposeful vagueness. Announcements Katie Yow If you are in Asheville, there will be a benefit for North Carolina grand jury resister Katie Yow on Tuesday the 29th of August at the Double Crown on Haywood Road in West Asheville. There will be bbq of the vegan and non vegan sorts, plus a great lineup of bands including Margaret Killjoy's Nomadic War Machine, Snake Musk and Wyatt Yurth and the Gold Standard. Yow, who is a social worker with a professional past in education, has been an anarchist for over half her life. Her committment to resist this grand jury shows a bravery in the face of the kinds of trauma and isolation that only the state can instill, yet she has named this resistance as “the easiest decision I have ever made”. Stay tuned for an interview with Katie Yow and a supporter on next week's Final Straw! For more information on Yow, updates on her resistance, and many resources on grand juries and grand jury resistance, you can visit https://ncresiststhegrandjury.com/ Cvill, AVL, and Calls for Solidarity It's been a week and a day since the events in Charlottesville, and for me it is a bit difficult to know what to say. There have been many excellent report backs – from Solecast, It's Going Down, CrimethInc Ex Worker, and Radical Underground podcast – definitely check those out for in depth analysis and on the ground perspectives from anarchists and antifascists. Since Cville there have been very well publicised resistances to fascism and ongoing white supremacy in Durham, Boston, and right here in Asheville where four brave community members attempted the removal of a plaque commemorating Robert E. Lee at downtown's Vance Monument. These four folks put themselves and their safety on the line to fight white supremacy and racist, revisionist history by engaging in this act. If you want to read a statement from these folks or donate to their legal fund, you can visit “Asheville Monument Removal Legal Fund”. Activity seems relentless right now, with elements on both sides galvanized by recent events, marches and calls to action are coming fast and furious. It is important to mobilize, but mobilize wisely, in the spirit of complete honesty about your capacities and energy. We cannot fight longterm unless we fight alongside all our comrades, support those who put themselves or are on the frontlines, and help prioritize all levels of antifascist engagement and accompliceship. With that in mind, I want to say that if you are interested in keeping up with these calls or solidarity keep your eyes on itsgoingdown.org for announcements and updates. One that'd like to mention right now are a call for solidarity in Phoenix AZ. This is a “call for an anti-fascist & anti-colonial contingent against Trump's rally on Tuesday, August 22 at 6pm at the Phoenix Convention Center. We will converge, in the spirit of solidarity and hostility to the current order, and as a physical body ready to act in self-defense and mutual protection of each other from cops, fascists, and liberal/radical ‘peace police.'” This rally is a reaction to Trump's suspected decision to pardon former AZ sheriff Joe Arpaio who was recently found guilty of criminal contempt for defying a state judge's order to stop traffic patrols targeting suspected undocumented immigrants. Those patrols were kept in place by Arpaio for 17 months after the order was issued. This same sherrif rose to infamy for his intentionally cruel and sadistic treatment of incarcerated people. This rally will be held on Tuesday, August 22 at 6pm at the Phoenix Convention Center at 100 N. 3rd St. in downtown Phoenix. It's recommended that people arrive and look for the black flags. For a complete anti colonial antifascist analysis of this day and the liberal response to it, check out “Phoenix, AZ: Call for an Anarchist Anti-fascist & Anti-colonial Presence Against all Presidents”   Vouched Fundraising Efforts As always, keep vigilant about sources of fundraising! White nationalists are capitalists too, they will coopt anything including revolutionary momentum on the far left. Members of Metropolitan Anarchist Coordinating Committee, or MACC, from New York City also had members present at the vehicular manslaughter that occurred that day. The NYC GDC and MACC stand in solidarity with all those who oppose the growing wave of fascism around the world. Cowardly attacks will only strengthen our resolve to fight back and defend ourselves. An injury to one is an injury to all! To support all those injured by fascist violence in Charlottesville, NYC GDC of the IWW as well as MACC are holding a fundraiser and screening of the latest episode of “Trouble” by SubMedia at Rebecca's, at 610 Bushwick Avenue in Brooklyn on Sunday, August 27th from 8pm to 10pm. “Trouble” is a new monthly documentary series that broadcasts first-hand accounts of struggles for community self-defense. Previous episodes have explored topics like water protectors fighting the construction of the DAPL pipeline at Standing Rock, anti-fascist organizing, solidarity efforts for refugees and resistance to state repression. SubMedia has encouraged groups to host screenings of the show to bring communities together and provoke discussion of tactics, struggles and movement dynamics. The best defense against fascism is a strong and supportive community, based on principles of mutual aid, solidarity and self-defense. Heather Heyer will live in our hearts forever! I've interviewed Joshua Spodek, a professor at NYU and an entrepreneur. This has been an eye-opener interview for me on leadership, how to master it and also on his teaching methods, his entrepreneurial journey. Joshua is a best-selling author of the book called “Leadership Step by Step”, which has recently come out. In this interview we talked about his leadership principles which he describes also in his book. He's a professor and a coach, teaching about leadership and entrepreneurship. In addition he writes regularly for Inc magazine, holds five Ivy-League degrees, including a PhD in Astrophysics and an MBA, both from Columbia University. Following his academic career he co-founded a company called Submedia, commercializing his hardware invention for in-tunnel motion-pictures. We talked also about this and what problems they ran into. Beyond his professional achievements, he completed six marathons, swam across the Hudson River, did over 90,000 burpees, wrote over 2500 blog posts, took over 250 cold showers. This means you'll also get to hear about some of his habits. Enjoy this episode, which I did very much. One more thing: if you want to have access to a material that Joshua made available for you as my podcast listener click here.   Raw transcript is available at: https://www.thehardwareentrepreneur.com Show highlights can be seen below: How does Joshua warp time? - [3:03] What's the common thing between Joshua, Balint and Nobel Prize winners - [4:32] The motivation of a physics researcher to become an entrepreneur - [6:55] What if it were straight instead of round – the story of a zoetrope - [8:45] The timeline of starting their company - [10:35] What he would have done differently when prototyping - [13:55] "Don't forget to do some experiment" - [16:55] How did Joshua move from the business world of entrepreneurship into teaching leadership and teaching entrepreneurship - [18:00] The other side of business [life] - [22:25] How is project-based learning the future of education? - [ 25:10] What it is about actors, musicians and sports people that inspired Joshua to write a book on leadership? - [26:55] What is method learning? - [29:55] An example of a project-based learning by a 10th grader - [33:30] Some of the reactions to Joshua's way of teaching - [37:20] How does Joshua think we can incorporate innovative teaching methods in the current educational system? - [40:10] If you could time travel and go back in time to your early 20s, what would you do differently or what information would you give yourself? - [44:30] Books which had the biggest impact on Joshua's career and entrepreneurial thinking - [45:25] The habit of not messing around with your habits - SIDCHA - [46:17] You believing it's hard is one of the main things that's making it hard - [49:40] Some striking cultural differences in Joshua's work that he had to overcome - [51:30] "What do we have that's all over the place that I'm not noticing?" - [53:40] What is the best way to reach Joshua? - [55:46]

This episodes features two portions. Janye Waller In the first segment we talk to Noelle about the case of Janye Waller.  Janye is a young Black revolutionary from Oakland, California, who was the only person convicted of property destruction during the 2014 demonstrations in the Bay following the non-acquittal of pigs for the murders of Michael Brown and Freddie Gray. Noelle is a supporter of Janye Waller and believes that Janye's conviction was a clear case of railroading and racial profiling against a community activist.  Janye is now finishing up a 2 year sentence with one year off for good behavior.  The interview was held in February of 2017, and Janye is set to be released in coming months, then he's out on parole. You can find out more about his case and donate to his post-release fund at https://rally.org/supportjanye and updates can be found on his support fedbook page and to find out more about some projects Janye was involved with in Oakland, check out the site for El Qilombo You can write to Janye in the near future by addressing letters to: Janye Waller #ba2719 A Facility,P.O. This interview was recorded days before media saw the images of the Sacred Stone Camp burning and having been disbanded, so many of the modes and tenses that we employ are not what we might given the current position of the camps. We talk about a wide ranging set of topics, from what worked in the camps to what the failings were, and how resistance to extraction industries could look moving forward. Interviews with Queen Tahiyrah and Franklin López This episode contains two segments: In the first, Bursts spoke with Queen Tahiyrah about the hunger strike being engaged by Imam Siddique Abdullah Hasan and Jason Robb, two death row inmates put there by their attempt to resolved the hostage taking involved in the 1993 Lucasville Prison Uprising.  During the uprising, Jason Robb and Hasan acted as negotiators for the prisoners as representatives of the Aryan Nation prison gang and Muslim prisoners, respectively, at the facility.  More on their case can be found at http://lucasvilleamnesty.org.  Check out Queen Tahiyrah's podcast, entitled SiGnOtHeTiMeS. We apologize that the beginning of Queen Tahiyrah's interview sounds crappy - that was a technical fail on our part - but it clears up after about 2 minutes. In the second segment, Bursts chatted with Franklin López about Submedia, the importance of anarchist media production, his upcoming anarchist hip hop podcast, and the new short documentary series they're about to start releasing entitled Trouble.  Trouble is available for public showings, so find yourself a venue in town, contact Frankie and company via, pass word of the event in town via flyers and word of mouth and antisocial media and make some friends where you're at! The first episode will focus on diversity of tactics at Stand Rock with a focus on the Red Warrior Camp.  More work by Frankie can be found at https://submedia.tv.  Oh, and there's an announcement of a podcasting network looming on the horizon.  More to come on that in future episodes. Announces Benefit Shows: Help our comrades arrested at J20! If you're in Asheville or the surrounding area, there is a benefit show TONIGHT (March 12) at the Odditorium at 1045 Haywood Rd in West Asheville. Proceeds will benefit our comrades who were arrested during the inauguration protests in DC earlier this year. Also, next Monday the 20th there will be a dance party to benefit J20 arrestees, come dance to mod, punk, and all the classics new and old with DJ Murphy Murph! This will be at the Lazy Diamond at 98-A N Lexington Ave in downtown Asheville. Rebel! Rebuild! Rewild! call for submissions The Rebel! Rebuild! Rewild! Collective has put out a call for submissions of texts about strategic lessons that can be learned from the resistance at Standing Rock. As one phase of the resistance has ended and another has begun, the idea is to compile experiences and analyses and reflect on the lessons learned from this game-changing moment in movement history. This project is mostly for the benefit of those who were not present at Standing Rock but who might participate in something similar in the future. The plan is to publish a compilation of thoughtful strategic analyses, both online and in print. However, seeing as it might not be possible to publish everything that people submit, the plan is to put an unedited version of everything that folks submit onto a wordpress site sometime in the future. The call is to write about anything you'd like to, but some leading questions are: Which actions were most effective? Which actions were least effective? Do you have any insights on dynamics between indigenous and non-indigenous water protectors? What was unifying? What was divisive? What can we learn from the tactics of DAPL, the police, and the state? What can we learn from the legal battle? What message would you like to pass on to future water protectors? Please submit writing to rebelrebuildrewild@riseup.net. Submissions can be signed with your legal name, an alias, or be  anonymous. Please include whatever information about yourself that you consider relevant. Art by Julie Maas (borrowed from http://www.nightslantern.ca/) Playlist

January 20th, 2017 saw perhaps the fiercest resistance to ever take place at an American presidential inauguration. Episode 55 of The Ex-Worker podcast surveys the day's momentous protests in DC and beyond, mass media reactions to anarchist resistance, and lessons for the future of radical protest. We begin with an interview with an organizer from Disrupt J20, evaluating the blockades, marches, and disruptions, commenting on state and right-wing repression, reflecting on the spokescouncil model, and sharing visions for the future, as well as info on how to support the 200-plus comrades arrested in the streets that day. Our friends at Agency, an anarchist media relations project, share a detailed report on mass media coverage of the demonstrations and of anarchists and anarchism over the past weeks, including plenty of hilarious quotes and clips. From an anonymous arrestee from DC's J20 protests, we offer an analysis of how to make the best of mass arrests. We then share reports from a few of the hundreds of protests and actions that took place outside of Washington, DC on January 20th, including arrests leading to serious charges against anarchists in New Orleans and the shooting of an antifascist protestor in Seattle.
