Am 18. Januar 2025 fand in Marzahn zum 8. Mal die Lesenacht an der M8 statt. Vielen interessierten Gästen wurde ein vielseitiges Leseprogramm geboten. 10 Leseorte - 10 Genres - 33 Autorinnen und Autoren begeisterten das Publikum mit zauberhaften Märchen, nervenkitzelnden Krimis, sinnlich-erotischen Liebesgeschichten, fantastischen Geschichten und ergreifenden Biografien. In der Mark-Twain-Bibliothek luden junge Erwachsene der dortigen Schreibwerkstatt mit ihren Texten zur Philosophischen Nacht ein. Around the world – in both mature and young democracies, elections continue to be a flashpoint for violence. Researchers at our department recently released a model for forecasting violence related to elections, which could help inform the work to protect and promote democracy and electoral integrity around the globe. In this episode we interview David Randahl and Hanne Fjelde, who worked on the project, to explore how the model works and what it could be used for. The research was led by David Randahl, and the team also included Maxine Leis, Tim Gåsste, Hanne Fjelde and Håvard Hegre based at our department, as well as Staffan I. Lindberg from the V-Dem Institute at the University of Gothenburg and Steven Wilson from the Department of Politics at Brandeis University. The study was a collaboration with the Kofi Annan Foundation. Seit sieben Jahren findet am 3. Samstag im Januar in Marzahn die Lesenacht an der M8 statt. Orte durch eine Veranstaltung zu verbinden – diese Idee kam Reinhard Kneist beim Besuch der Neustrelitzer Lesenacht. Er entwickelte daraufhin das passende Konzept für den Berliner Stadtbezirk Marzahn-Hellersdorf.Am 20. Januar 2024 war es wieder soweit - zehn einzigartige Leseorte und 32 Autorinnen und Autoren luden ein zu einem Abend voller Lesegenüsse und kulturellen Austauschs.Einer dieser Leseorte war die Mark-Twain-Bibliothek. Sieben junge Erwachsene der dortigen Schreibwerkstatt für Jugendliche führten das Publikum durch die "Junge philosophische Nacht". Sie regten mit ihren Texten sehr zum Nachdenken an, thematisierten eigene Betrachtungsweisen und Beobachtungen ihrer Umwelt und rundeten das Programm mit professionellen musikalischen Einlagen ab. In dieser etwas länger als üblichen Sonderausgabe von „Mit Leib und Seele“ unterhält sich Tim Götz mit ehemaligen Jugenddelegierten früherer Vollversammlungen des Lutherischen Weltbundes. Sie blicken zurück auf ihre jeweiligen Erfahrungen in Winnipeg (2003), Stuttgart (2010) und Windhuk (2017). Wie war es damals als Jugenddelegierte teilzunehmen? Was hat sich über die Zeit verändert, welche Themen sind gleichgeblieben? Und schließlich geht es auch um die Frage, welche persönlichen Erlebnisse im Rückblick besonders in Erinnerung geblieben sind.

Andreas Wöhle erzählt von seinen Erfahrungen im lutherisch-jüdischen Gespräch. Zusammen mit Tim Götz geht er den Fragen nach, warum es für den Glauben von Christi*innen unerlässlich ist, sich mit dem Judentum zu beschäftigen, wie wichtig ein ehrlicher Dialog ist und welche Bedeutung Schuld und Verantwortung in diesem Dialog haben.

Auch in der 18. Doppelsturm Folge kommen wir nicht um Diskussionen rundum den FC Basel und seinem "neuen" Trainer Heiko Vogel herum. Mit unseren zwei Gästen Tony und Tim sprechen wir ausserdem über den mittlerweile neuen Klassiker im Schweizer Fussball, die schönsten Stadien der Schweiz und in welchem Fall auch ein grosser Basel-Fan einen Abstieg in Kauf nehmen würde. Mit diesem Projekttitel beantragte die Schreibwerkstatt im April 2022 erfolgreich Mittel aus dem Kinder- und Jugenddemokratiefonds. Die Jurysitzung wurde wie jedes Jahr vom Kinder- und Jugendbeteiligungsbüro Marzahn-Hellersdorf organisiert und durchgeführt. Die Jugendlichen planten mit diesen Fördermitteln im August eine Reise nach Marburg, um dort viel über die Grimms zu lernen, ihre Erfahrungen schreibend umzusetzen und am Ende ein eigenes Märchenbuch in den Händen halten zu können.Die Aufgabe lautete: "Sucht euch ein Märchen der Gebrüder Grimm aus und transportiert es in die heutige Zeit. Yes, friends, this last Servant Song of Isaiah extols the Suffering Servant's purifying, saving power over even infectious diseases. I'm not kidding. The Suffering Servant "sprinkles the nations" - outside the place of worship - purifying them of sickness and sin. Who could have ever planned such a series with such a show at this time?!  The supreme self-sacrifice prophesied in the main part of the text is as surprising as the spin Isaiah gives it. Any religious person of his day would have viewed the Servant’s suffering as rightful punishment for sin. But the prophet sees through a different lens. Through beautiful imagery, Isaiah announces three-fold vindication for the Servant whose vicarious suffering will “justify the many.” God greatly rewards the selfless Servant and turns his suffering into the balm that heals the world. The author of the Letter to the Hebrews tells us that “Whom the Lord loves he chastises” (12:6). In the third Servant Song centuries before, Isaiah prophesied that the Lord’s Servant would endure suffering without complaining. By embracing sorrow without losing heart and by accepting discipline as instruction, the Servant would gain a share of the holiness of God. As a result, the student would become a teacher. Having learned at the feet of the loving and merciful Lord, the Servant now instructs the nations in the ways of obedience and discipleship. But most of all, he models fidelity and long suffering. Remarkably, the Servant’s sufferings have not led him to turn away from God; he neither feels abandoned nor betrayed. Confidently, he stands before those who mock him, knowing their power will wear away like a threadbare garment, while God’s help lasts forever. The proof of discipleship, he says, is walking in darkness without any light, save that of faith in the Lord! Woe to those who walk by their own light, trusting neither the Lord nor his Servant. Exodus 14:14 says, “The Lord will fight for you; you have only to keep still.” Could you do what the Servant does, silently trusting in God to bring you justice and vindication? If you have not experienced suffering like that of the Lord’s Servant, surely you don’t have to look far to learn of others who experience it everyday. What modern-day individuals have inspired you by enduring suffering in this heroic and godly manner? Pain, whether physical or psychological, is never far off. But if we are Christ’s body, then Christ suffers with us, uniting our pain to the suffering he offered to God on the Cross. Pope John Paul II wrote that because it was through suffering that Christ saved us, suffering was itself redeemed and “raised to the level of redemption.” Now, anyone who suffers can become “a sharer in the redemptive suffering of Christ.” (Salvifici Dolores) Do you see your suffering as untied to Christ’s? Do you believe it can participate in his act of redemption? V - Verbalize (Pray about your thoughts and emotions.) Remembering that He loves you and that you are in His presence, talk to God about the particulars of your O – Observe step. You may want to write your reflections in your LOVE the Word® journal. Or, get a free journal page and guide in the right-hand margin. E - Entrust (May it be done to me according to your word!) Lord,  Behold me, my beloved Jesus, weighed down under the burden of my trials and sufferings. O Divine Servant-King, Jesus, whose heart is so compassionate to the afflicted, I wish to live in You; suffer and die in You.
