In this episode of The Soaring Child Podcast, host Dana Kay sits down with happiness expert Matt O'Neill to explore one of the most transformative—but often overlooked—tools in parenting: cultivating happiness from the inside out. As a father of four, author, and the creator of The Good Mood Revolution podcast, Matt shares actionable insights into how happiness isn't just a fleeting feeling, but a skill that can be built—even in the chaos of daily life with ADHD. From managing meltdowns to reframing negative emotions like fear, overwhelm, and guilt, Matt offers science-backed strategies to help parents shift their perspective and become the steady, joyful presence their children need. Dana and Matt dive into real-world challenges many families face—from job loss and emotional exhaustion to the feeling of being stuck in a loop of negativity—and how small mindset shifts can create profound change. With personal stories, spiritual grounding, and practical techniques like emotional journaling and daily gratitude, this conversation will leave you empowered to embrace the beauty in the hard moments and lead your family with more love, compassion, and resilience. Dana Kay, founder of the ADHD Thrive Institute and a dedicated functional health practitioner, brings her signature warmth and wisdom to another heart-centered conversation that parents won't want to miss. Let's talk about money—but not in a scary or overwhelming way. In this episode of the Teacher Let Your Light Shine podcast, I'm taking you behind the scenes of how I went from financially winging it (and praying the numbers would work) to building a microschool with clear, sustainable financial systems. If you're a microschool founder, homeschool hybrid leader, or teacher dreaming of starting your own school—this episode is your financial reset. This is Part 2 of our Summer of Clarity series, and we're diving deep into: What my financial systems used to look like in Years 1–2 (hint: disorganized, reactive, and stressful) The exact tools and habits that changed everything—like weekly finance check-ins, monthly forecasting, tuition dashboards, and hiring a bookkeeper How creating financial clarity gave me the freedom to grow, hire, rest, and lead with confidence What I'm focusing on this summer (and what you should be looking at too): compensation structure, tuition tiering, forecasting for a second location, and more

Stress is often seen as the enemy—but what if God wants to use it for our growth? In episode 98, Drew and Tim talk with Dr. Charles Stone, a veteran pastor and leadership expert, about how stress, when understood and managed well, can lead to spiritual maturity and emotional resilience. With wisdom from Scripture and neuroscience, Dr. Stone offers practical tools and godly insight to help us stop letting stress define us and start letting it refine us.Rather than avoiding or resenting stress, we can learn to embrace it with wisdom and faith. Dr. Charles Stone shares how our brains are wired by God to respond to stress and how practices like emotional naming, metacognition, and intentional joy can help us stay grounded in God's presence. This episode reminds us that in a world driven by pressure and performance, we can find peace, purpose, and strength through surrender and spiritual discipline.Stress has two sides: the event and your response—you can't always control the first, but you can grow in the second.Naming your emotions (affect labeling) helps reduce anxiety and increase mental clarity.Think about your thinking (metacognition) to discern truth from lies and realign with God's Word (2 Corinthians 10:5).Build a “pleasure piggy bank” by savoring daily joys that strengthen your soul (Nehemiah 8:10 – “The joy of the Lord is your strength”).Prayer and surrender shift us from fear to faith, allowing God to work in our stress (Philippians 4:6-7).Pastors and leaders must release the need to please people and embrace their God-given calling (Galatians 1:10).Learn more about Dr. Charles Stone's ministry at charlesstone.comGrab his book Stress Less on Amazon
