From navigating Wall Street during the financial crisis to building wealth strategies for women who are reshaping the economy, Emily Green shares how she became a powerful advocate for women taking control of their financial futures. In our conversation, I sit down with Emily Green, Head of Wealth Management at Ellevest, a company founded by Sally Krawcheck to close the persistent investment gap facing women. Emily's career began at J.P. Morgan, where she quickly noticed a troubling pattern: male founders were consistently better prepared and better supported when selling businesses or going public, while women were left without the same level of financial advocacy. That realization led her to Ellevest, where she helped build the firm's wealth management division from the ground up, effectively launching a startup within a startup.Emily opens up about the pivotal transition Ellevest made after selling its robo-advisory business in 2024, a bold decision that required letting go of an early identity to gain clarity around serving high-earning and high-net-worth women more deeply. We talk about how women's relationships with money evolve over time, shifting from budgeting and day-to-day decisions toward life trade-offs, fulfillment, and legacy. Emily also shares how her clients' wealth comes from diverse paths, like corporate leadership, early tech roles, entrepreneurship, and investing, reflecting a growing desire for alternatives to traditional banking models. This talk dives into the historic wealth transfer underway and why women will be at the center of it, controlling an estimated fifty percent of U.S. wealth by 2030. Emily introduces the idea of “wealth care,” reframing money as a tool to maximize life rather than an end goal. From examining inherited money beliefs to treating personal finances like a business, she offers grounded, actionable guidance that can save women millions over their lifetimes. If you're ready to rethink money, leadership, and long-term impact, this is an episode you don't want to miss.Chapters

As we step into a brand new year, I wanted to start 2026 with a different kind of conversation. In this episode, I'm sharing why I chose to hit the reset button on the podcast over the last few weeks — not by stopping, but by shifting the rhythm. After a demanding fall, caregiving responsibilities, and a deep need for creative breathing room, I realized I didn't need to quit or push harder. I needed a strategic reset. So this reflection is an invitation to rethink how we approach consistency, productivity, and growth — especially in seasons where our energy, priorities, or capacity have changed - or need to change. ;)In this episode, you'll hear…Why “pushing through” or quitting entirely are not your only options. What a strategic reset can look like in real life (and in your private practice!).How small tweaks in rhythm and structure can make a big difference in your energy...Why you don't have to burn out to evolve. And a gentler way to approach goals, planning, and presence in 2026. (Totally what I'm going to try this year.

I'm opening 2026 by claiming clarity as my word for the year and sharing an honest reflection on where She Leads has been and where it is going next.In this solo episode, I share my personal journey after eleven years of serving women entrepreneurs through She Leads Media and what it means to step into a new chapter with sharper vision. A simple moment, getting new glasses, became a powerful metaphor for how deeply I'm craving clarity in my work, my focus, and the women I'm best positioned to serve. I talk candidly about the tension between wanting to help everyone and knowing that real impact requires intentionality, boundaries, and depth. At the heart of my work has always been deep listening, trusting that women already hold their own answers and need space, reflection, and support to access them.I also unpack the realities of entrepreneurship that rarely get airtime, especially for women. The same habits we bring into life, procrastination, self-doubt, resilience, show up in business, shaping outcomes for better or worse. Drawing from my teaching at NYU and Rice, I explain why foundational self-awareness matters more than any tactic or trend. I challenge the glossy, quick-fix narratives that dominate online marketing and speak honestly about the sustained effort and inner work required to build something meaningful. This episode is also a turning point. I reflect on my own realization that the current She Leads model will not reach the million-dollar scale needed to expand impact and why that matters. As I enter what feels like my third professional chapter, I share my vision for supporting women who have reached or are approaching seven figures and are asking deeper questions about purpose, burnout, and legacy. If you are craving clarity, wrestling with growth, or sensing that your next level requires a different way of leading, this conversation is for you. I invite you to listen in, reflect alongside me, and help shape the future of She Leads as we redefine what it means for women to truly lead with intention, sustainability, and impact.Chapters✨ 00:56 Welcoming 2026 with clarity and intention

In this episode of “Carlsbad: People, Purpose and Impact,” host Bret Schanzenbach sits down with Paola Richard, CEO and founder of Gelato Love in Carlsbad Village.Paola shares her global upbringing in Rome with roots across Europe, her early career as a seven-time Italian national synchronized swimming champion training in California, and her transition into marine biology and science journalism, where she wrote and produced content on conservation for outlets like National Geographic Italy and national television.Seeking a new life adventure, Paola moved back to California, fell in love with Carlsbad, and—thanks to a suggestion from her brother and cousin—made a bold pivot from journalism to entrepreneurship, launching a gelato shop originally called Gaia. With strong support from the Carlsbad Chamber of Commerce, she opened her first store in the Carlsbad Village Faire and eventually rebranded to Gelato Love for clearer, more emotional branding.Paola explains how she uses her science background to reinvent gelato: experimenting with allulose, a rare sugar that mimics sugar's taste and texture but doesn't spike blood sugar, allowing Gelato Love to create no-sugar-added, low-glycemic, clean-label gelato with no artificial stabilizers. They now produce about 5,000 pounds of artisan gelato a day, make custom recipes for clients like Camp Pendleton, and offer 36 flavors in-store out of more than 300 recipes she has developed. She describes navigating COVID-19 by building an online ordering and local delivery system that literally kept the business alive and brought “little celebrations” to families stuck at home—like the special delivery Bret ordered for his staff. Paola also shares details about her Italian market-style shop, which now includes imported foods, panettone, bags, and accessories from Italy alongside gelato cakes and classic desserts like tiramisu. Finally, Paola celebrates a huge milestone: being selected by historic Italian company Fabbri to create three specialty flavors (dark chocolate oat milk, lemon cream ginger, and strawberry cheesecake) now available nationwide on Amazon, shipped frozen with dry ice. For Paola, every pint is a “gift of love” from Carlsbad to the rest of the country, and she dreams of further distribution while keeping quality, craft, and “guilt-free celebration” at the center of Gelato Love. Beyond Representation: Why Women Entrepreneurs Need Systemic Disruption, Not Just a Seat at the Table

From celebrating women's representation to demanding true systemic disruption, I'm opening 2026 with a hard look at why nearly half of new businesses are started by women, yet so few ever cross the million-dollar mark.In this solo episode of She Leads, I unpack a paradox that should stop every founder and leader in her tracks: women launched 49% of new businesses in 2024, but only 4.2% reached $1 million in revenue. This isn't a conversation about confidence or competence, it's about systems. And more importantly, it's about how women who succeed within existing frameworks are rewarded, while those who challenge and redesign those frameworks face resistance at every turn.I introduce a three-level disruption framework that reframes how we think about success in entrepreneurship. Level one is representation and women building profitable companies in spaces never designed for them. Level two is model disruption and changing how industries operate, from regenerative construction practices to ethical beauty brands that challenge labor and sourcing norms. And level three is systemic disruption, where success redistributes power itself, creating new pathways through employee ownership, transparent supply chains, and reinvestment into underrepresented founders. This episode also confronts uncomfortable truths: how venture capital flows toward “acceptable” women-led industries, how algorithms and infrastructure quietly reinforce bias, and how family responsibilities still disproportionately force women out of business. The data is clear, and the issue isn't ambition or ability, it's a system built around invisible labor and outdated definitions of success. As we step into 2026, I invite you to ask a bigger question: not just how much you want to build, but what you're building toward. Because hitting a million dollars may require grit, but building something that lasts, scales, and changes the rules demands disruption. Tune in for a powerful redefinition of what it truly means to lead.Chapters

From scaling women-owned businesses past the million-dollar mark to rebuilding with clarity after burnout, I'm reflecting on the real work of leadership, discernment, and sustainable growth behind She Leads Media. In this episode, I step out from behind the mic to share my own journey as CEO of She Leads Media and host of the She Leads podcast, rooted in a mission that's bigger than revenue alone. Less than two percent of women-owned businesses scale beyond seven figures, and I've dedicated my work to changing that trajectory by helping women gain access to capital, confidence, and visibility. When women succeed financially, they reinvest in their families, communities, and causes, and that ripple effect is what drives everything we do at She Leads.I open up about the non-linear realities of entrepreneurship, especially for women navigating gender, culture, and systemic barriers. I reflect on how pressure-based growth models and urgency-driven decisions caused She Leads Media to lose momentum in 2024, and how 2025 became a year of recovery, discernment, and realignment. That reset clarified that sustainable leadership is all about honoring values, resisting manipulation, and trusting your own judgment even when advice comes from impressive voices. We also explore the practical work behind scaling with intention: building sound business models, strengthening financial health, developing media strategy, and using visibility as a tool for impact. I share what I've learned teaching entrepreneurship at Rice University's Jones School of Business and NYU, and why critical thinking, not blind imitation, is essential when learning from other founders' stories. As I look ahead to 2026, I share what's coming next for She Leads Media: personalized advisory work, curated global experiences, strategic partnerships, and renewed momentum symbolized by moving into the “year of the horse.” This episode is an honest invitation to lead with clarity, courage, and confidence, and to remember that extraordinary growth starts with conscious choice. Nathalie is an author, psychotherapist, mindset architect, and the Executive Editor of Ageless Living Magazine, where she curates stories that celebrate unapologetic living at every age. Our conversation begins with the magic of being together in person and the energy of women truly supporting women, not transactionally, but from a genuine place of “how can I help you.”Nathalie opens up about the pivotal moments that reshaped her life, from leaving a prestigious banking career in Switzerland to searching for fulfillment through fashion, success, and external validation. Despite checking all the “achievement” boxes, she found herself deeply unhappy. That awakening led her inward, where she began dismantling perfectionism, diet culture, and self-criticism, and replacing them with radical self-love. One simple mirror practice changed everything, transforming not only how she saw herself but how the world responded to her.We dive into the science of happiness, the myths women are conditioned to believe, and why self-love is the foundation of confident leadership, healthy relationships, and sustainable success. Nathalie also shares powerful insights for women entrepreneurs: why authenticity fuels growth, how setting boundaries protects your business, and why saying no, especially to unpaid labor, is an act of leadership, not selfishness. This episode is a reminder that true success means building a life where joy, impact, and alignment coexist.
