Yolande Thame has been a Set Designer in the US film industry for several years and is currently based out of Atlanta, Georgia. She also works on location in different cities across the US, wherever the most interesting productions take her. If asked, Ms. Thame would describe herself as an architect for television and feature films, bringing obscure ideas and fantastical art concepts to reality so that construction teams can build environments for the actors to bring to life. Her digital modeling tools include Autodesk Revit, McNeel Rhinocerous3D, Unreal Engine, and Blender3D, among others. She has the skill to take abstract scratches on a napkin and turn them into realistic spaces (with all the correct building proportions) that ultimately support the cast and crew to operate safely and tell a story effectively.Miss Thame has worked on a wide range of projects from tent-pole features for Marvel like Black Panther 2: Wakanda Forever, Guardians of the Galaxy 2, and WB's upcoming Latin American superhero, Blue Beetle, indie films such as Universal's Please Don't Destroy, New Line Cinema's TAG, and FilmNation's McDonald's-origin bio-drama, The Founder, streaming products for Netflix like Hillbilly Elegy and True Memoirs of An International Assassin, culturally relevant mini-series like 20th Century FOX's Genius: Aretha, to episodic series like CW's Dynasty, BET's Being Mary Jane, AMC's Hap & Leonard and OWN's beloved mega-church drama, Greenleaf. Presently, she is working on an undisclosed adventure series in Dallas, Texas.Ms. Thame pivoted to this industry after years as a project manager for boutique construction firms and a marketing manager with the wood division of Herman Miller, a corporate furniture design company. After being passed over for promotions and finally laid off during the 2008 financial market crash, she decided to retrain and pursue her true passion, storytelling on the big screen. Ms. Thame, already endowed with qualifications from Georgia Institute of Technology, one Bachelor of Science in Industrial Design and the other in Industrial Engineering, returned to school for a Masters of Arts in Production Design from the Savannah College of Art and Design (SCAD) at their headquarters in Savanah, Georgia. The next phase of her career resides in combing the lessons from her parents and teaching these skillsets of designing environments to other people worldwide, especially girls like herself who know nothing about using these tools or have access to them. Ms. Thame plans on one day telling her own stories, which include more people like her parents because, as she says, "no matter how small we think we are, our stories are worth telling too!” website: www.ythame.comLinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/in/ythame/Now is a great time to act on your dreams! Editor - James D. Wilcox, ACE THIRTEEN LIVES editor James D. Wilcox joins the Rough Cut to talk about cutting Ron Howard's latest film. James first collaborated with Howard on the series, Genius, and received an ACE Eddie award for his work on the episode, "Einstein - Chapter 1". From there, James would do another episode of Genius ("Aretha"), as well as cutting Howard's adaptation of the J.D. Vance book, HILBILLY ELEGY; which would be Wilcox's first feature editing job. Unlike most feature editors who started their journey in post as an assistant, James actually started out as an editor, but working in news and sports. This experience proved invaluable to him later in his career when he started cutting scripted shows and features. THIRTEEN LIVES recounts the incredible true story of the tremendous global effort to rescue a Thai soccer team who become trapped in the Tham Luang cave during an unexpected rainstorm. Faced with insurmountable odds, a team of the world's most skilled and experienced divers -- uniquely able to navigate the maze of flooded, narrow cave tunnels -- join with Thai forces and more than 10,000 volunteers to attempt a harrowing rescue of the twelve boys and their coach. With impossibly high stakes and the entire world watching, the group embarks on their most challenging dive yet, showcasing the limitlessness of the human spirit in the process. Oscar-nominated, Emmy, Tony and Grammy Award winner Cynthia Erivo discusses her portrayal of Aretha Franklin in National Geographic’s “Genius: Aretha”, a performance that has been called “incandescent” by The New York Times. To project both confidence and vulnerability, and sing Aretha’s songs -- all in the same ways Aretha had -- Cynthia did extensive research, and she enjoyed the challenge. “I like having to learn,” she tells host Stacey Wilson Hunt. “I like coming out different than I went in.” The podcast episode concludes with Stacey talking to Cynthia’s hair and makeup artists who helped her look and feel like Aretha. Hairstylist Coree Moreno and makeup artist Terrell Mullin explain that they also strived for authenticity out of “respect” for both Aretha and Cynthia. Dacía James Lewis is no stranger to putting herself out there. In her Hollywood career, she has choreographed and graced stages with artists such as Tracee Ellis Ross, Jennifer Hudson, Jamie Foxx, Kanye West, Stevie Wonder, Mary J. Blige and many more. The Atlanta resident was most recently seen in Coming 2 America as well as Genius: Aretha. Expressing herself through dance is something that has always come natural to her; and now, it’s her words that are moving the masses in her first book The Game of Life: Releasing the Weight When God Says Wait. Dacía opens up about her experience with infertility as she takes us through her wait journey. Dacía hopes that by sharing her story, it will normalize speaking about an issue that affects about nine percent of men and 11 percent of women of reproductive age in the United States. While this book covers her very personal experience with the topic, The Game of Life offers so much more and is relatable to everyone feeling stuck whether it has to do with dreams not coming true or pressures they may face from family and society about relationships or career. The reasons may be different, but the waiting game still feels the same. Learn more about your ad-choices at https://www.iheartpodcastnetwork.com
