Jeannette discusses the transformative journey of turning a side hustle into a thriving business. She outlines ten essential steps for success, including validating your business idea, creating a simple business plan, ensuring financial security, and building a strong personal brand. KEY TAKEAWAYS Before fully committing to your side hustle, ensure there is sustainable demand for your product or service by assessing market trends and gathering data. Develop a high-level business plan that outlines your concept, target audience, unique selling points, and financial goals to guide your side hustle's growth. Establish a financial cushion by saving at least six months' worth of living expenses to support yourself while transitioning from a regular pay-cheque to your side hustle. To reduce risk, create multiple sources of income, such as combining your job with your side hustle, investing in rental properties, or monetising content. BEST MOMENTS "In the UK, did you know that 22.8 million Brits have a side hustle going on right now? That's around about 45% of all adults in the UK." "Whenever we do anything in business or in life, it is not easy. So having the right resources, the right people around you is so, so important." "You need to validate your business idea. Before you make the leap, ensure that your side hustle has sustainable demand." "If your side hustle is consistently earning you at least 75% of what you earn from your salary, you have financial stability at that point." Have you ever copied and pasted terms and conditions onto your website without giving them much thought? Or maybe you haven't updated them in years? While they may seem like legal fine print, outdated or missing website terms and conditions could expose your business to serious risks. Learn how to protect your business with automated website compliance Key Takeaways Before we dive into Mark Donnelly's insights, here are some essential reasons why keeping your website terms and conditions up to date is critical for your business: Outdated or missing terms and conditions can cost you. Learn how to transition from daily grind to long-term growth. Key Takeaways Before we dive into Kerrie's story, here are some key takeaways on how to transition from daily business grind to long-term growth: Let go. Start by delegating tasks you dislike and build trust in your team. Fractional management can help. You don't always need a full-time executive. Part-time expertise can be just as powerful. Processes and systems are your foundation. Streamlined, repeatable workflows will prevent inefficiencies and support scalability. Think of your business as an investment. Just like you wouldn't manage a rental property alone, you don't have to run everything yourself. Read more
Are you trying to build success without having your basics covered first? In this enlightening episode, Scott Smith takes us back to the fundamentals with a fresh look at Abraham Maslow's time-tested Hierarchy of Needs theory from 1954. Scott explains why establishing a "peaceful foundation" is essential before pursuing bigger goals. While today's world pushes instant gratification, Scott reminds us that life works in certain ways that can't be hacked or bypassed. Whether you're thriving or struggling, this episode provides the remarkably simple yet powerful framework to ensure you're building your life and goals on solid ground. Learn how to establish the peaceful base that will support everything else you want to achieve. Featured Story: Scott revisits Abraham Maslow's revolutionary Hierarchy of Needs theory from 1954, explaining how this psychological foundation remains crucial for success today. He breaks down the hierarchy into practical terms—from securing your basic physiological needs to achieving self-esteem and ultimately transcendence—creating a roadmap for building a "peaceful foundation" that supports everything else in life. Key Takeaways: Before pursuing ambitious goals, ensure your basic physiological needs (food, shelter, clothing, income) are securely met Creating a sense of safety—personally, emotionally, financially, and health-wise—forms the second layer of your foundation Humans are tribal by nature; social connections and belonging to a community are essential for happiness Self-esteem and confidence naturally develop after establishing the previous foundations Transcendence (focusing on the greater good beyond yourself) only becomes possible with a solid foundation No "secret hack" can replace having these fundamental needs met in the proper order Health should never be sacrificed in pursuit of other goals—it will eventually catch up with you Memorable Quotes: "Stand up, take a step, and repeat. How long? Till you get what you want. Why would you stop before you got there anyway?" "A peaceful foundation is just a solid place. It's peaceful. It's not rocking. It's not shaking. And from there, we can build anything." "What a man can be, he must be. Self-actualization requires mastery of those previous needs." Scott's Three-Step Approach: Build Your Peaceful Base - Identify and address any gaps in your physiological needs and safety. Ensure you have stable food, shelter, income, and health before tackling bigger ambitions. Connect Authentically - Prioritize in-person, synchronous connections with like-minded people. Join groups or communities that share your values and goals to fulfill your need for belonging. Respect the Process - Follow the natural progression of Maslow's hierarchy rather than trying to skip steps. Build your foundation first, then focus on esteem needs, and finally allow yourself to transcend toward greater impact. Connect With Scott: Search for The Daily Boost on Apple Podcasts and Spotify. Lyn welcomes relationship coach Roy Biancalana to discuss the often ignored idea of "getting ready for real love." Roy shares insights from his own personal experiences, emphasising the importance of going on a journey of self-awareness and personal growth before seeking a partner. He highlights the common mistakes people make when searching for love, such as focusing solely on finding a partner rather than preparing themselves for attracting a healthy relationship. KEY TAKEAWAYS Before seeking a partner, it's crucial to work on ourselves to heal/ remove any emotional baggage and self-sabotaging behaviours. By changing the focus to being in a healthy state, we allow for better connections to be attracted to us when meeting potential partners. Many individuals repeat unhealthy relationship patterns because they fail to recognise their own contributions to their past experiences. Self-reflection and awareness are essential for breaking these cycles. The idea that "like attracts like" emphasises that individuals will attract partners who are at a similar level of emotional and psychological health. To attract a healthier partner, one must first work on becoming a healthier partner by being our best self. Utilising tools like the Relationship Fitness Self-Assessment Test can provide insights into one's current relationship readiness and highlight areas for personal growth. BEST MOMENTS "If we aren't ready for something real... we shoot ourselves in the foot." "A lot of people... are frightened to be single... especially if they're unintentionally single." "You will always attract a partner and a relationship that is as healthy as you are." "If you want an extraordinary relationship... you have to do some really serious work on yourself." Simon shares six essential steps to help you secure your next or first property investment deal. He emphasises the importance of clarity in your investment goals, guiding you through the process of determining your desired outcomes and the strategies that will best achieve them, such as high-end HMOs for passive income. KEY TAKEAWAYS Before diving into property investing, it's crucial to clarify what you want to achieve, whether it's creating passive income or generating cash flow. Different strategies yield different results, so understanding your objectives will guide your investment choices. Invest in areas where you have local knowledge, as this will help you identify good and bad neighbourhoods. Conduct research to ensure there is strong rental demand, which is essential for successful property investment. Assemble a team of professionals, including local estate agents, letting agents, mortgage brokers, and solicitors. Networking at local property investor meetings can help you find reliable team members through recommendations. Practice making offers on every property you view, even if you're not particularly interested. This builds confidence and helps you understand the negotiation process. Aim to offer slightly less than what you're willing to pay to start negotiations. BEST MOMENTS "The problem is there are so many property strategies out there. Often people get overwhelmed, they get distracted by the new shiny penny, they get analysis paralysis." "You should make an offer on every single property you view. Why? Well, first of all, it's good practice." "Most sellers become more motivated with time. What didn't necessarily work now might well work in the future." "I think there'll always be a demand for high quality HMOs, houses of multiple occupation, where you're renting to students, young professionals or working people." Karen recently received an email from a listener that posed an interesting question…”Should I keep my business doing what is already working or should I branch out and try something new?” Stepping into a new world can be daunting and can leave you second guessing if you’ve made the right choice, however, there is a way to do this and minimise your risk. This week, Karen is here to explain how you can expand your business into new and exciting avenues without losing what you have built and how you can grow your brand with confidence. What are the best products to get started with when thinking about expansion? Karen details some of the easiest products to develop and gives you a warning about the ones to avoid. Join me as I celebrate my 29th spiritual birthday by sharing a message of encouragement with my home church! God is calling us to move, and it is my heart's desire to encourage you to take those first steps toward movement. In today's episode, Natalie delves into the crucial first stage of buying a beach hut: Thinking it through. She emphasizes the importance of thorough research and poses nine thought-provoking questions for prospective beach hut buyers to consider. From exploring the reasons behind wanting a beach hut to evaluating usage frequency, funding options, ongoing maintenance costs, and long-term plans, Natalie provides valuable insights and practical advice to help listeners make informed decisions. KEY TAKEAWAYS Before purchasing a beach hut, it's crucial to understand why you want one and how you plan to use it. Whether it's for personal enjoyment, family memories, or business purposes, knowing your motivation is key. Think about how often you will realistically be able to use the beach hut. If you live far away and can only visit occasionally, renting might be a more cost-effective option than owning. Beach huts come with significant costs, from the initial purchase price to ongoing maintenance and insurance. Consider alternative investments or savings options before committing to a beach hut purchase. Different types of beach huts require varying levels of maintenance. Factor in the time and costs associated with keeping your beach hut in good condition. Think about how a beach hut fits into your future plans and legacy. Consider whether it aligns with potential life changes and how you can pass it on to future generations. BEST MOMENTS "Don't buy a beach hut until you've done this. How to buy a beach hut, part one. Is a beach hut right for me? or us." "Beach huts are expensive to buy and maintain and can be expensive and time-consuming to sell." "Timber swells in moist sea air and contracts in the baking heat of summer. As a result, timber beach huts need painting regularly to keep them in tip-top condition." "Renting is a valid alternative. You don't have to find buckets of cash or worry about maintenance or storms." "Beach huts create wonderful seaside memories which will stay with you for life. This is a legacy in its own right and a perfect way to be remembered." HOST BIO My name is Natalie Young. I bought a beach hut to bring joy into my life after escaping an abusive relationship and a difficult divorce. Based in Christchurch, Dorset, my beach hut is affectionally called the Salty Seagull and is located on Friars Cliff beach with sea views to the Needles on the Isle of White. It is my slice of heaven. Owning and hiring a beach hut is more complicated than I realised and I am on a constant mission to discover the best ways to manage and care for your hut. I have researched the pros and cons of renting and the best ways to market and host. The beach, the sights and the sounds of the sea bring me huge joy. I think we all agree that good communication is key to a healthy and loving relationship. As we exit a marriage lack of communication is usually one of the factors that contributed to the end whether it was lack of or unhealthy communication patterns. In my work as I coach women going through separation and divorce pretty close to 100% of them will tell me that poor communication or lack of contributed to their divorce and that good communication skills are a must in a new relationship. And I get and agree. But there is something many don't look at or think about and that's their own communication style. We all have a default where we go when triggered or if we feel under attack or somehow unsafe in sharing how we feel. Do you become avoidant, argumentative, loud, quiet..? The only thing you can control is your communication. What you choose to say and how you choose to respond to the other. You can't control anything they say or do. Those choices lie with them. Are you communicating in a way that creates safe space for the other person to share what is in their heart? For them to learn how to communicate effectively with you and vice versa? KEY TAKEAWAYS: Before you make a list of what you want in a (future) partner and how you would like them to communicate, think about how you need to communicate with them to foster good two way communication. Reflect on how you can improve your communication style and gain clarity on how you want to show up in a relationship. Get to know your boundaries and learn how you want to communicate those effectively and compassionately. Allow space for the other person to grow into good communication with you especially if they don't come from a background that has encouraged that in the past. Also look at your communication patterns and relationships with family, friends and co-workers. Learn about yourself before you create requirements for others. Know how you want to extricate yourself from a situation that is not going well so you don't end up getting triggered and losing control of how you are communicating your feelings. These are learned skills available to everyone. Get help with this ideally before you enter a relationship. And also when in a new relationship to create a healthy patterns early on. And I would like to invite you to join our coaching call and conversation about all of this inside the Rising Free membership. Every week we meet to discuss various topics related to separation and divorce and the healing that needs to happen. We talk about overcoming abuse, codependency, co-parenting and so much more. In this episode of Understanding Crypto, James Burtt chats with Gianina Skarlett, founder of Crypto Tech Women. She shares her journey from humble beginnings to the CEO of a successful tech company. They discuss her recent success with the Crypto Tech Women NFT initiative, which was minted in February 2022 and was fully sold out in less than 24 hours. They also chat about the methods she used to pique and sustain enthusiasm for the project. The Journey Gianina describes herself as a software engineer from Venezuela with a background in management. Although she always had a deep enthusiasm for coding, educational opportunities along that career path were limited in her native country. She eventually relocated to California and took part in Cryptozombie.io, a basic coding course specialising in Solidity contract coding. Successfully completing the training led her to a career in technology. Yet the more she coded and worked within the web3 space, the more she understood the value of representation. “Representation matters. That's why I'm here. So many other women who are part of the web3 space put themselves out there every day. Because if there's no representation how will others know that it's possible or doable or achievable?” [Listen from 2:34] Gianina's desire to start an NFT project was first supported and encouraged by her friends, and this inspired the development of Gigi Codes, which then evolved into Crypto Tech Women. She outlines the complex procedures involved in starting the project, including the development of websites and social media platforms. Through her research she learned about generative art and used this technology to make the 8,888 NFTs for the platform that sold out in 24 hours. This success only came after developing a community and a social media presence. Her ultimate goal, which is to fill the web3 space with knowledgeable users, builders, and creators, has remained constant throughout. James says that, as an investor in the program, he is consistently astounded by the quality and frequency of programs and events. [Listen from: 11:38] Marketing Strategies and More James asks about the marketing strategy she employed that enabled her NFTs to sell out in a few hours. Gianina emphasises that it was mostly dedication and in-depth research. She explains that she was only able to develop an NFT project that was well embraced by a community because she invested time in understanding her audience and assuring that they were genuinely engaged. "You cannot start talking into a void. You have to start finding channels that are willing to listen or start hosting other people." Although her first public speaking engagements were nerve-wracking, she quickly saw the value of the opportunity. "I want to empower the women in web3 and I want to bring them on. They are definitely a minority who are left behind." On social media, she searched for other women who shared her interests and focused her attention on building connections—a tactic that quickly became essential to her success. James concurs, pointing out that one of the best things about web3 is that the community tries to be inclusive because real-world identities are typically meaningless. He tells Gianina, "The reason you've been so successful in such a short period of time is because you were a willing novice, while there are so many people posturing themselves as ‘experts'.” [Listen from 21:39] What makes a successful NFTs launch? There are significant factors, in Gianina's opinion, that might determine a project's success or failure. As an investor and creator, she views validating social media platforms as an essential research activity. She advises that developers should not view the number of followers a project has as a true indication of community engagement. She points out, "We didn't even have more than 10,000 and we were sold out. We did have a very engaged community…” Before minting the NFTs, she thinks creators should spend some time cultivating a community that cares about the project; this is vital to guarantee that the product sells out. Successful NFT launches can usually be predicted by an active, real-world community on social media or on a Discord server. [Listen from 29:42]. The Way Forward Gianina is eager to devote the majority of her time to expanding the CTW project. She wants to add other broad fields of study to the present educational platform, which currently focuses on web3. Her goal is to establish a single information hub that would cater to those who have a keen interest in learning more. Investors can already access past, present, and upcoming Masterclasses in addition to several bootcamps and events through the Crypto Tech Woman NFT. She is adamant, nevertheless, that education is her main objective. “I really love my mission and I'm really passionate about education. It's something that I've always said can unlock life opportunities for anyone out there.” [Listen from 35:25] Key Takeaways Before launching an NFT project, a developer's main goal should be to create a supportive community. Women who are represented feel more confident participating in web3. [21:00] Designers are advocates for their clients. [23:35] Make sure your builders are experienced with the elements you want in your renovation. [26:30] Cindy's advice for homeowners about to start a home renovation. KEY TAKEAWAYS: Before you decide to move or begin a home renovation, ask yourself “what makes you happy?” Just because you are renovating, doesn't mean you have to replace all of your furniture. Instead, you can replace some throw pillows, your lighting, or your coffee table to give your furniture new life. Renovating your longtime home can bring out a lot of emotions. Communication between clients, designers, contractors, and architects is key for home renovations. Finding the right people to execute unique designs can be tricky. Finding builders that are experienced with those elements is important. Host, Matthew Stoltz, VP of Marketing, and “Bucky” Jobe, VP of Operations at Moovila, interview Heather Abel, project coordinator from Komatsu Mining Corporation, about Komatsu's $285 million manufacturing facility project and new headquarters in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. They discuss how autonomous project management technology has helped Komatsu stay on track. Heather shares how she became the Project Coordinator for building the new corporate campus — the largest project in the history of Komatsu. She first prepared for and achieved the status of Certified Associate Project Manager (CAPM) from PMI. Next, she worked with “Bucky” Jobe on setting up the multiple workstreams of the construction and installation project in Moovila. Moovila developed new functionality for this Komatsu project. Listen in for the importance of using the right project management technology for the scope of your project. Key Takeaways: Before this project, Heather was Executive Assistant to the President, with a focus on projects. This Project Coordinator role is a lifetime opportunity for her. Heather quickly got certified in CAPM. The project spans a 60-acre site. It includes a manufacturing plant, offices, robotics labs, a four-story parking garage, and a museum. Heather had about 25 workstreams running at any one time. She needed something robust to manage a team of 60 and their different project plans. The workstreams are not siloed but overlap. Komatsu needed software with visibility to make the experts and project managers accountable. Moovila offered a simple way to assign tasks and accept assignments without email or meetings. A workstream may have multiple projects. Heather tried Microsoft Project but it was not enough. “Bucky” tells of the partnership between Heather and Moovila. Heather was given no rules but was expected to show the results! “Bucky” was involved with the Komatsu project from Day 1 as part of Moovila's White Glove service to fully onboard its customers. Heather shows Matt and “Bucky” more details that involved 15,000 tasks. Heather lists some of the workstreams, such as spaces, furnishings, moving people to the new buildings, and overseeing the project team. Everyone can manage their project as it suits their team, and Heather can coordinate the teams to see that they all work together. Heather credits the Moovila team who helped her import data to the system from the different tools each team used to document their progress. Heather talks about taking an overview and looking at everyone's milestones. She showed Matt and “Bucky” her Moovila executive dashboard. Heather has meetings all day. Moovila allows assignments to be made without extra communication. The teams are aligned as efficiently as possible. Heather finds the reporting to be far superior to the reports she used to make from Excel. Moovila has visibility and tracking. Executives can go into Moovila and focus on one tiny corner. Is it on time? Is it done? Moovila is transparent. Heather likes the critical paths on the installation checklist and features such as batch editing. Heather can add or subtract managers and update the timeline. The status goes to the executives and the executives report to the top levels. What does Heather see as the most notable gains of using Moovila? There are quite a few million dollars of savings projected over the installation. There were some construction delays and COVID-19 paid a huge role in them. Heather shares how Moovila's transparency works for executives. They expect this installation not to impact customers in any way, and to stay within budget! This Komatsu project drove the development of Moovila's interproject dependency functionality and completely put it to the test! It works! From her executive dashboard, Heather can see the status of all projects and the story behind everything. Heather doesn't do charts or calculate anything. Heather's last thoughts: Managing an installation project of this scope with Moovilla is incredible! It is historic, it is substantial, and it is fascinating! Dr. Jerry Smith welcomes you to another episode of AI Live and Unbiased to explore the breadth and depth of Artificial Intelligence and to encourage you to change the world, not just observe it! Dr. Jerry is talking today about Cognitive Services, which is the second part of the evolutionary optimized digital surrogate-based predictions causal AI-driven digital transformation life cycle. Listen to this episode to find what Cognitive Services are, why they are important to businesses, how to identify four key cognitive attributes to your services, and three of the most important services you should start using today. Key Takeaways: Before starting with today's cognitive services, Dr. Jerry goes back a few years to lead us to where we are now. In 2016, cognitive services started, but a lot of them were just promises that did not bring economic value. Cognitive services missed the connection with the business side, but causality changed that. What are Cognitive Services? Cognitive relates to conscious and mental activities. If you are using AI to help you make decisions that relate to your customers, you need to have someone that relates to Cognitive Psychology and understands the psychology of people and the sociology of groups. Examples of cognitive services are Speech and Image recognition, Text to Speech, Speech to Text, and searching through vast amounts of information. What is Cognitive Computing and what are some of its benefits? Cognitive computing is the use of computerized cognitive models to simulate human thought processes. One benefit of cognitive computing is that it performs well in complex situations where answers and data are ambiguous and uncertain. What constitutes cognitive computer systems? Four primary characteristics: Cognitive computer systems have to be highly adaptive, they have to be flexible enough to learn as information changes. Cognitive computer systems have to be interactive. Iterative and stateful. Cognitive computer technology can identify problems by asking questions if the state of the problem is vague or incomplete. Cognitive computer systems have to be contextual since understanding the context is probably the most critical process in the causal AI digital transformation cycle. Cognitive computing is not AI; it uses AI and AI uses cognitive computing. Cognitive computing is used when you are dealing with human characteristics in industries like health care and services. Cognitive computing is more about being human than being a machine. What is data science? Data science is the process of studying data, you always get value out of it. Machine learning learns the characteristics of the data in different variables in order to make predictions. AI is all about making decisions based on the machine learning models and the predictions of tomorrow and asking what are we going to be doing tomorrow as a consequence of that. What are some of the top cognitive services today? Computer vision: consists of pulling out actual information from images. Emotion: Analyzing faces and bodies to detect emotional ranges of mood. Face: Identify similar faces. Content moderation is automatically moderating text, images, or videos, and has profound importance to our society. Why are cognitive services important? Cognitive services allow us to drive behavioral insights from data. Data has no intrinsic value; the value of data comes in how we process it, how we look at it, and what questions we ask (which are very subjective and will give different outcomes). Behavior, behavior, behavior. How well is your money working for you? Today we’re looking at how personal finance can be more holistic and reflective of what most to you through financial wellness! Financial Wellness: A Holistic Approach to Money How did this year go for you? I have not met one person yet who has had it go as they expected. Even if you were financially prepared – emergency fund, debts are paid off are in the process of being knocked out, things shifted. As I talked about in the last episode, we had expenses like transportation, travel, and eating out drop to pretty much zero or drastically cut while others like family entertainment and charitable increased. A big reason why is that our finances – to a degree – reflect what’s going on in our lives and our priorities. This is not exclusive to 2020. However, I’ve been hearing from so many people here in the community and in my personal circle about how they took a step back and reviewed their finances. They looked beyond the numbers and had some conversations about where they really want their money to go. They’re looking at the next year when hopefully things will shift back at some pace to ‘more normal. I was just discussing with a friend how having to stay at home more and in a sense slow down from her regular routine with the family gave her a chance to weed out unnecessary things. That, in turn, is fueling her plans for 2021 and beyond. Maybe you’re at the point too. That’s why I’m looking forward to today’s show. We’re wrapping up this year with how you can set up your finances more holistically and make it more reflective of your family. Jason Vitug is here to help me out. He is the founder of Phroogal and financial wellness expert empowering a generation to live their dream life through financial knowledge. Jason’s also the author of the best selling book, You Only Live Once. In this episode, we’ll get into: Why tracking your numbers is so powerful Why financial wellness matters How to start planning for a richer life beyond the numbers Ready? Let’s get started! Resources to Make Money Less Stressful If you’re overwhelmed and looking to smooth out your money system so you can focus on the big wins, here are some helpful resources to check out! Key Takeaways Before we wrap up, I want to focus on a few key takeaways I got from preparing this episode. The real power of tracking your money is not in the amounts, but the awareness. A rich life includes financial wellness. Budgets should reflect YOUR priorities and values. I know switching can seem to be a bit tricky. One of the biggest game-changers with our finances was shifting things so we could live on one income. However, that’s not always an easy thing to do. Today I’ll break down strategies and tactics that we and other couples have used to make it easier! Living on One Income I’m serious; if we had to identify the one habit that changed the trajectory of our finances, it’s moving finances in such a way that we could live with just one income. Here’s the thing – when we started it was out of practicality. When we were first married, our income was much tighter. My husband had his first post-graduation and I was wrapping up my final year in college. I was attending full time and I had a paying part-time internship. Because of the nature of the internship, we didn’t know if it would be extended beyond the semester or not. We sat down and decided we needed to keep our essential expenses under his income. My income would be used for building our financial cushion, paying off the debts we had, and yes, some fun money. At that time it didn’t seem like a big deal, but that mindset and system was a tremendous help. We were able to goals like paying off debts. We were able to move to Raleigh when I got a job offer and having our expenses covered by it meant Rob could hunt for a job he was happy with. When I began working for myself we had less stress because I could reinvest what income I was making back into the business. We were able to build up our down payment faster. When we became parents I had some flexibility in adjusting my work and yes, I took time off too. We’re grateful for those opportunities and realize how fortunate we are to have made that decision early in marriage. But even in those circumstances, it wasn’t easy. There were limits we had to place on our finances in certain areas. Looking back though, we’re happy we did. You may be in a situation where making this transition would be a real benefit for you. Like us, it could be out of necessity or because of circumstances. You may have seen a reduction of income either because your hours have been cut or you’ve been laid off. It could also be a voluntary thing. When I asked in our Thriving Facebook group the main motivation for moving to a single income. The biggest reason was more time with kids. I’ve seen families on the path to financial independence shift their finances so that they use one income to take care of the general living expenses and use the second to save and invest for goals. So many couples and families can benefit from this mindset. I’d like to offer some help with getting started. I can’t cover every single situation. For the purpose of this episode, I’m going to be focused on your single income stream being able your essentials, some savings, and enjoy a bit. In this episode, we’ll go over: the process to scale back your expenses to fit under one income common challenges that can come up Benefits of living on one income Ready? Let’s get started! Key Takeaways Before we wrap up, I want to focus on a few key takeaways I got from preparing this episode. Be clear on your motivation and goal. The better you define these, the easier it is to make the transition. You’ll be in a better position to know which expenses to cut back first. Or even eliminate. And you can find ways to shore up your savings before you make this leap. Take it bit by bit. I know that they’re going to be circumstances with some families where you have to make the transition as soon as possible because there is a ready reduction in income. But if you’re doing this voluntarily, You don’t have to rush this. Approaching it bit by bit allows your family to adjust. To the new finances. And hopefully, it makes it easier to stick with a plan. Have a plan for that second income. Even if you don’t need it to survive. You do want to use that money wisely? For example, you can pay down your debts. Build up some savings for a specific goal, or if you want to save and invest it. For long-term goals, then you know, that money is right there for you. This is definitely a topic that we can go more into. And if you’re thinking about making the transition, come chat with me. You can join us in the thriving Facebook community. One of the most important responsibilities that a manager has is onboarding. It's a huge investment for any organization in terms of time and resources, and it’s an even bigger investment by leaders as it is their job to make sure new hires are positioned for the best possible chance to succeed and grow. In this episode, I talk with James Christie and Ramahn Ritchie, two tenured professionals from different industries, about best practices for onboarding new and/or transferring employees in today’s environment. Key Takeaways:Before you review the onboarding checklist with your new hire, take the time to share your management style, what they can expect from you, and ask what expectations they may have of you Inform internal stakeholders of the onboarding plan and timelines for engaging your new employee Sequester your employee for at least the first 30 days. This gives them time to get up to speed before getting involved in their responsibilities Make sure they understand how to use technology (virtual platforms, equipment, etc.) Texting has become an effective way of communicating and keeping in touch with new employees Onboarding virtually still requires the same basic elements as onboarding in-person: Invest the time to map out an onboarding plan Set expectations and be very intentional Share the company mission and vision, the org chart, etc. Hold weekly touch points, but make them aware that you are always available to answer questions Provide them with peers to reach out to for questions Lastly, remember onboarding is all about helping people become prepared and feeling welcomed
Success with money isn’t about knowledge, it’s about behaviour. Oftentimes, the finance industry focuses on what to do when it should be focusing on what goes on in your head when you’re doing it. Behaviour is an innate quality that continually evolves over time, but it is observable and thus adjustable. Understanding and adapting your behaviour can help you reach true, meaningful success. James has been in real estate investing since 2010. He has bought and sold over 90 million dollars in residential and commercial real estate. James currently owns and operates a mufti-million-dollar real estate investing business and real estate brokerage in North Florida. James’ marketing strategies and systems are what have enabled the company to purchase close to 1000 properties and counting. His success in real estate has led to helping others in real estate investing as well. James’ released the premier software (REI Automator) for real estate investors and wholesalers that uses technology as an unfair advantage for users. He currently coaches and mentors many successful companies in the industry as well. Key Takeaways: Before venturing into the real estate world, you might have referred to James as a “Jack of many trades, master of none but better than the master of one”. Dropped out of high-school, worked at a construction company, a steel company and a soul dish seller, James is, nevertheless, committed to whatever he decides to do. How does commitment determine the results you produce in your business? You won’t be doing yourself any favors if you do not commit to whatever business you get into. As a wholesaler and flipper, James opines that you are the only variable in making your business fail or grow. What is the importance of having a cushion if you plan to quit a venture for another? Of course, the biggest rewards come from the biggest risks but, the worst results also come from the biggest risks too! It is very important to take calculative risks. Why is it important to put a number on your goal? What is the difference between virtual and non-virtual investing? How should you integrate both in your business? James focuses on unity in diversity among the two. The pandemic has led to an abrupt change and only those who are prepared will be able to survive the change. James talks about how successfully adapting to, especially, virtual investing might be the only way to save your investing business right now. What are some of the strategies James uses to get deals during this pandemic? Using social platforms, especially Facebook marketplace, to find virtual and non virtual deals has helped James create new connections and find more deals. How can you provide a better seller experience that places you above your competition? Why is tech important to the scale of your real estate business? Why does James make use of an automation software to convert leads? James asserts that the tech shift in the real estate market has been happening for years and those who can’t adapt, may be forced to fold. It is very important to be productive and not busy so you can focus on activities with high ROI. What’s James’ advice for having a role model? What are some of the things you should look out for before you regard someone as your role model? James emphasizes the necessity of changing role models as you pass through different growth stages in your business. This is important in order to avoid the clash of conflicting ideas. Thus, you must be able to identify what you need so you can find who you need. Why you should avoid chasing after experts as role models and focus on those that resonate with you. Are signs in the workplace really effective? How can we communicate to colleagues that we don’t like their behaviour without coming across as a jerk ourselves? Heads up! We have a deep discussion about farting at work. This episode is a real gas! Key Takeaways: Before posting a sign, consider: is the message really for EVERYONE? Or could this be a more direct conversation with a specific person? Too many signs may result in people reading NONE of the signs. The sign may have the opposite effect and the offender will do the offending behaviour even more. Look out for the backfire! Bonus Takeaway: Do not go into a pool if you have active diarrhea. Enough said.

Interest alone wouldn’t cut it; be prepared. • There’s a practice of selection in the military, which is the same in any business… you always pick the best to join your team. • As much as possible, you want the best equipment, training, service, etc. for your team and clients, just like in the military. • All the team members also have designations depending on their specialties. The team leader must be able to oversee and manage his team well. • Timing is also important in the two different niches. Every business project, every military tactic, needs organisation and precision. • You need courage to grow and change. You also need courage to motivate and push your team forward. • Discipline aims to remove good habits to practice good habits. It forces you to the important tasks you don’t want to do. • How do I do things in Investing? 5 F’s: o Find a great deal. o Fund it. o Fixing it. o Filling/Flipping. o Flourish. • Secrecy is needed if you want to thrive. Winning can be within your grasp if you’re unpredictable. • Planning helps you solidify the path in achieving something, but plans need to be flexible so you can be ready when an unexpected thing happens. • Think unconventionally; don’t do things that people expect you to do. • Control your fears. They exist to motivate you, to be aware of all the learnings you can get, to keep you grounded. • Persevere. Survive. Push harder. BEST MOMENTS • “In business, it’s not often about life and death, but sometimes, it can be about life and death… it’s often about survival.” • “I was fortunate to have chosen a profession that really worked well for me.” • “Timing is key. It’s how we can pivot one thing to the next.” • “Work on your skill level; don’t stop learning.” • “Plan helps you to think of all contingencies.” VALUABLE RESOURCES • Survival of the Fittest by Charles Darwin • Invest In You Podcast • Trust is the New Currency book by Sheila Holt & Fredrik Sandvall • How to Make Money (book) - www.h2m.money • Branding Yourself: How To Use Social Media to Invent or Reinvent Yourself by Kyle Lacy and Erik Deckers - https://www.oreilly.com/library/view/branding-yourself-3rd/9780134786636/ ABOUT THE HOST Serial entrepreneur Fredrik Sandvall loves sharing ideas and interviewing world-class entrepreneurs and influencers. After last week's toilet episode, we thought we'd keep the personal space conversation going. This time, we're talking about the pros and cons of open floor plans in the workplace. How does boundary setting work when the vast majority of people are rubbing elbows side by side on the floor? How do people be authentic when some people are naturally boisterous and others like library-level quiet? Key Takeaways: Before asking someone for a 5-minute convo at work, check the time! Are they just arriving and need time to settle in? Are they about to leave? Before jumping into a convo happening near you, wait...were you just eavesdropping? Sandy doesn't like open office workspaces!

How do you build a successful startup and not get caught in the “growth at all costs” mindset? Brandon Bruce grew up in a tiny California town of 800 people where he only had one classmate at school and an outhouse for their bathroom. These humble beginnings set the stage for Brandon’s curiosity to thrive as he was afforded the freedom to learn at his own pace. Demonstrating community involvement and support of his interests, Brandon’s parents taught him through example that you can take care of business and take care of your family and community at the same time. Brandon is now co-founder of Cirrus Insight which has grown to $12 million in revenue and is listed as #41 on the Inc. 5000 list of fastest growing companies. Located in Knoxville, Tennessee, Cirrus Insight also organized and sponsored the largest computer coding lesson in the world, with nearly 10,000 students and over 50 schools participating, landing them in the Guinness Book Of World Records. In today’s conversation, Brandon shares his lessons from bootstrapping a startup company, growing a team, and pivoting when their main marketing channel was eliminated. Building solid customer relationships has been essential for their tech startup, and Brandon describes how they were able to avoid common pitfalls to growth by engaging their customers every step of the way. We round out this interview with Brandon sharing a few examples of the ways in which he has been able support his local community, including simple, easy projects anyone can do, as well as leveraging Cirrus Insight’s expertise by leading the largest computer coding lesson in the world. His example proves that making an impact doesn’t require you to register a NPO or corporate entity – it simply requires you to be open to the needs of your community and be willing to take action. Key Takeaways Before you build a product, find out from potential customers if they would use it and how much would they pay to use it. Back your marketing and distribution channels with relationships. A lot of life is just showing up. Many entrepreneurs never get their idea off the ground because they get stuck in the planning phase. Do not over-plan – complete a project and then if it’s successful and you want to continue, then consider writing a business plan, setting up an entity, and so forth. It’s underrated how much can be created with a project. No permission is needed to make a difference in your community. Just do it. Text ‘bulletproof’ to 345345 to stay in the know about our upcoming book release and the Bulletproof Summit on October 12-13th 2018 in Atlanta! Bulletproof Dental Practice Podcast Episode 73 Hosts: Dr. Peter Boulden & Dr. Craig Spodak Guest: Thor Conklin, Founder & CEO of Peak Performance Group Watch full video of the interview by clicking here! Key Takeaways: Before you can fix your business, you must decide first where you want to go. You have to figure out what’s getting in the way of your success, and what are the lynchpins to solving your problems. It’s generally stopping or removing something rather than adding something. Often, what we want most in life is what’s most painful for us to get. Gratitude is one of the biggest and best ways to improve your fulfillment. It’s about getting back to what’s really important to you. Meditation and gratitude should be the first things you do in the morning. Try writing everything down that you’re stressed about. You’ll already feel less stressed. Put on your calendar a reminder to spend 20 minutes to work on taking an action to move one of those things forward. When doing something you hate, fake liking it and it’ll get easier. You can physiologically fool your body. People who want to stay pissed, will stay pissed. Just stay away from them. Every top performer has a pre-event ritual. They set their body, their intention, and their mind before they walk in. Take a deep breath and put a smile on your face. Set yourself before starting. 80-90% of communication is non-verbal. Focus on your mental fitness. Doing something physical helps break bad mental patterns. Get your bad energy out physically. Try to make your life as streamlined as possible. Clutter in your life tends to slow you down. Schedule time to allow yourself creative thinking time. High performers have a default of “no.” Know what your overall mission is and say “no” to anything that doesn’t serve that purpose. Figure out what your lane is going to be. Pick that lane and go deep. If you think you need a sales funnel, you might be right OR you might be wrong. Listen to this episode to see if you need to do more work in your business before you build a funnel and spend money on courses. IN THIS EPISODE 0:33 Today we're going to talk about why you don't need a sales funnel. With all this talk of funnels, or if I have one more person who comes to me and says the reason why I'm not making money is that my funnels aren't working. No, there were no sales funnels 20 years ago. Before you can really implement a sales funnel is you have to have relationships, and you have to have something that people want. 1:56 It's an amazing tool to implement something that is already working. There are so many women who don't have anything to sell and they're learning how to make a funnel. And why? It's a mindset issue. It's laziness, they're afraid to have a conversation with their ideal client and find out what they really want and maybe they'll get answers they aren't prepared for. 2:55 It might mean you have to go back to the drawing board and tweak a few things. If you don't find out these things, it's like polishing a turd. If you're at this place, whether you're just starting out or you've been in business a while, you need to stop and do these three things. 3:34 Step 1: Figure out who your ideal client is - figure out everything about your ideal client is. Who is she, what does she want (this is usually not what she needs), what keeps her up at night, what is she afraid of? What is making her feel ashamed, guilty, scared, insecure? These are powerful emotions that drive people to purchase. These are feelings that are driving you to purchase course after course. Maybe you don't know where to go or who to turn to so you're investing in things to help you. If your ideal client is feeling some raw emotion, if you're able to pinpoint those and you get her, she's going to trust her. Whether it's a product, course or other offerings. You should be doing this every month as you learn more about your ideal client and you grow. Your ideal client might grow over time. You should be doing this every month as you learn more about your ideal client and you grow. Your ideal client might grow over time. This is a growing, changing model of your ideal client. 6:36 I want you to do some real reflective work on why you want to serve this ideal client. If you're doing it just to make money, you're going to have to work a lot harder because that attitude is going to transfer. But if you're passionate about this, then people are going to be able to tell that too. 7:49 How are you going to do it differently, be able to help her and why is she going to care? 8:09 Step 2: Help them. Figure out who you're going to help and how you're going to help, then do it. Ask would you like me to tell you about my services, would you like me to tell you about my product. You have a gift, tell them about it and let them choose. But don't offer it because you have what they need and you'll feel good about it. And they'll feel good about it. Think about that when your limiting beliefs are causing you to stop. 9:35 Step 3: Rinse and repeat. Keep helping people. When you have the money flowing and you have money to work with and you build your business and you've got money to work with. With the extra money, then you reinvest that into your business. At that point, then you start thinking about sales funnels because you can. You've got a client or service that works and clientele that will give you great referrals. If you want to talk funnels, go check out Dana Malstaff or Dawn Marrs for funnels and marketing. That isn't the first step though, you have to do other things first. You have to get through the other blocks first. 11:57 Come talk to me if you want to work through money blocks. In six months from now, you'll feel like a new person with no road blocks, more confidence and limited limiting belief at the end of it. In the Profit Party Academy, we're learning the tools and the ability to move through those limiting beliefs. It's what's going to keep your empire growing and moving forward. If you want to talk to me about it, go schedule a call with me and in the mean time, do this work. Go back and relisten to this episode and do this work with your pen and paper. Meditate and tune in and listen to your body and your intuition of who you want to listen to. Why and how you want to serve them.
