El faro del jazz - 4x01 - Especial Almerijazz 2022 Estrenamos la cuarta temporada de El Faro del Jazz con un programa muy especial para su director y presentador. Confluyen muchas circunstancias para que la edición nº 30 del Festival Internacional de Jazz de Almería sea muy importante para Ramón García, responsable de este podcast. Por eso ha querido dejar constancia de todo ello en este arranque de temporada de El Faro. Es su ciudad y es un festival al que siempre ha estado muy ligado. Bestwick's credentials are matched by his Archie the Goldfish collaborator, Graeme Flowers, who can not only boast serving as a member of the funk & soul band Down to the Bone but also chalking up performances with the Brand New Heavies and Kyle Eastwood among countless more names. The sublime five-track, instrumental EP presented some inspired compositions that has since paved the way for even more music under "Archie" umbrella. Last year's 'Water & Light' EP saw the inclusion of vocalist Nadia Basurto amongst the band's line-up along with the incredibly versatile Kishon Khan on Rhodes and a new label home with the hotbed of global grooves, Funkiwala Records. I'm the youngest of three sisters and was submerged in music from an early age. I entered my first talent contest aged 6, singing “Somewhere over the Rainbow.” This marked the beginning of my love of music and performance. I studied classical piano and singing and, in my teen, developed a love affair with Jazz, a challenging genre that touched me deeply, possibly because the complexity of this style reflected the events occurring in my life at that time.I experienced some rare medical conditions in my early years, being declared as being 1 out of only 5 children like me to be afflicted in the U.K. at the time. The ongoing traumas of my early childhood inevitably played a significant role in suppressing my confidence throughout my life. But I graduated from Leeds College of Music with a B.A. (Hons) in Music, specializing in Jazz. I released my debut album in 2012 called "A Sin With Love," then three more singles after that. I also released two singles with a New York record label.In the latter part of 2019, I decided to explore something different and embarked on a sidestep into voice-overs, voicing for radio, corporate events, international voicemail, businesses, animation, and experimental poetry.I have a YouTube channel where I have interviewed musicians, such as Ronnie Scott's saxophonist, Derek Nash, Rat Pack legend Buddy Greco, and Clint Eastwood's son, Kyle Eastwood.At the start of 2021, I was chosen to participate and have now completed a business acceleration growth course run by the Welsh government. Born in South Wales, UK, Amy, the youngest of three sisters, was submerged in music from an early age. She entered her first talent contest aged six, singing “Somewhere over the Rainbow”, terrifying moments as she could barely reach the microphone. However, this also marked the beginning of her love of music and performance. Inspired by such a musical upbringing, Amy studied classical piano and singing, but also developed an intimate love affair with Jazz in her teens. A difficult and mature genre that touched Amy very deeply. Possibly because the complexity of this style reflected the events that were occurring in her life during the initial stages of her newfound developing passion. Amy experienced some rare medical conditions in her early years, being declared as being one out of only 5 children like her in the U.K at the time. She had developed cataracts in both her eyes leaving her almost blind, and then diagnosed with a rare nerve condition which meant she was unable to feel hot, cold or superficial pain. Due to this nerve condition, she also developed Osteoarthritis leaving her almost wheelchair bound and caused her growth to stop completely. The ongoing traumas of her early childhood inevitably played a major role in suppressing Amy's confidence throughout her life, especially being so short during an age when all a child wants to do is “fit in”, and certainly not stand out because they looked so different. Amy went on to graduate from Leeds College of Music with a BA (Hons) Degree in music specialising in Jazz, an achievement that she never dreamed was possible. Amy's desire to challenge herself, led her to also being a member of the BBC Chorus of Wales where she compared her first rehearsal to an episode of ‘Glee'...the aired version.

Join me as I chat with Amy Sinha, a British Asian jazz vocalist, songwriter, presenter and now voice over artist from Wales, in the UK. Her story is quite the unique one, but through the constant struggle and heaviness, every challenge has created new ways to help educate & inspire at least one person to other possibilities of ‘normal' in this world. She developed many rare conditions and disabilities from 1 year old. The first being cataracts leaving her almost blind, the 2nd being a rare nerve condition called ‘sensory neuropathy type 2, meaning I can't feel hot, cold, or pain anywhere on my skin. There were only 5 like her in the UK. It also led to her almost being left in a wheelchair and stopped growing at the age of 11. It helps to keep in mind that this was during the 80s where social media and fb groups were not available to reach out to. She has been singing since childhood, but all these disabilities affected her confidence as you can imagine. But despite the doctors not knowing how long she'd live for, and after nearly having her colon removed due to ulcerated colitis, she graduated from Music College with a degree in Music (Jazz), She also released her own album and a few singles and collaborated with a record label in New York thanks to social media. She also tried to tackle her lack of confidence by interviewing musicians that came to Swansea. Amongst them included Jazz musicians Buddy Greco and Kyle Eastwood, Clint Eastward's son. In a departure from their norm, Eastwood and company deliver a marvelous set of soundtrack classics that transmute some well-tread tunes into fresh gold. 这次的特别节目有一个新尝试，也因此上周《骡子》下半场的节目才没能按时推送。今天，我们把那期的外延“伊斯特伍德前作回顾”作为主题，补录了一些内容，以“2位主播串起10位嘉宾每个人的耳旁风”的形式呈现出来。 这个形式可能对一个导演回顾的内容来说有点过于隆重，乍听上去会以为是个悼念专题。所以我们才美其名曰“三周年特别节目”，以免造成什么误解（东木还活着！）。 其实，在周年之际把三年来你所熟悉的声音用同一个话题编织起来，对反派影评来说也算一次“连宇宙”吧。不害臊的说，如果把几年来邀请不同嘉宾的操作看作是一种布局，为的就应该是今天这期节目了。 另一方面，此前无数次听众期盼着我们能做一期所谓“经典老电影”的节目——今天就是了。10部电影虽然都出自同一导演之手，但它们题材不同、年代不同，而且大多数都算得上经典，现在以3小时的时长呈现，应该也算对得起这份期盼。只是，其中每个嘉宾的录音环境不一样，可能在最后的音质效果上参差不齐，这点还望海涵。 当然，周年纪念其实也不止是情怀，更是为了向前看。 如果有可能，像今天这样拥有庞大阵容的节目形式，在今后涉及“极为重要影人”的时候还会再次出现。而接下来反派影评日常的节目也不再拘泥于“1+2模式”（波米与两位嘉宾），或者会有全部由嘉宾组成的长节目，或者出现嘉宾谈电影的“耳旁风”；遇到突发事件，有波米单口的马后炮也完全可能……当然，最后这种情况一旦出现，一定是因为没能及时找到嘉宾。 同样，在新的一年，为了集中讨论更有价值的内容，反派影评也不再拘泥于“每周更新长节目”的固定形式：会适当“开天窗”，会尽可能避免尬聊——有人、有事、有值得讨论的电影，我们再发声。 其实反派影评作为一个“零成本”运营的节目，这几年遇到的最大问题是“请人难”，很多人说“这期应该请谁”、“那期不该请谁”……但对我们来说，从来都没有“应该请谁”的问题，只有“能请到谁”的问题。这里也就要感谢每一位不计报酬，甚至是不计时间成本来参与节目的嘉宾。 而同样要感谢的还有在纽约兼职5份工作都腾出时间剪辑节目的思源，他不是996，他现在是007。另外还有负责公众号运营的效愚；没有他们，反派影评也不会走到现在。 总之，无论今后节目形式怎么变，节目态度不会变。 话不多说，让我们把时间留给节目本身。 本期主播&节目流程 主播：荡科长（《骡子》等12期嘉宾）、波米； 片头曲：

October 16 - Bassist/Composer - Kyle Eastwood Among other things, Kyle Eastwood comes from a musical family.  Both parents, Clint Eastwood and Maggie Johnson, played the piano; and, his maternal grandmother taught music at Northwestern University.  So, I guess one can say that his entry into the realm of music was inevitable. Accompanied by a London-based crew of stellar young musicians, Eastwood and company blend infectious grooves and outstanding improvisations throughout eleven diverse tracks on The View From Here. “They’re all really talented players,” says Eastwood, “and we’ve been playing together for a while now, developing a real band chemistry. We ended up writing a lot of these new tunes together either at rehearsals or out on the road during last year’s tour around Europe. Sometimes I would come up with a couple of ideas or Andrew might bring something in, then everybody would just add on to it after that.” Kyle's latest CD, The View From Here, is as true to the genre, and culture of Jazz as one can get in these modern times.  The pulsating rhythms being extracted from his band's acoustic instruments, are not only pure and exact, but seem to represent a symbolic life source for both the band, and its listeners.
