Dr. Wilczek is celebrated for his investigations into the fundamental laws of nature that have transformed our understanding of the forces that govern our universe. He studied Einstein's discoveries, expanded upon Einstein's ideas, and, for several years, even lived in the same house Einstein used to. Wilczek's dedication led to even more advancements in humanity's understanding of our world, particularly his work on symmetry in the laws of physics. Thanks to Einstein, scientists were introduced to the concept of symmetry amid theories of general relativity and the fundamental laws of physics. Though he hadn't explicitly articulated the role of symmetry in our universe, he did set up a framework that future scientists could expand upon. Denn sie fanden nicht einmal Zeit zum Essen, so zahlreich waren die Leute, die kamen und gingen. Sie fuhren also mit dem Boot in eine einsame Gegend, um allein zu sein. Aber man sah sie abfahren, und viele erfuhren davon; sie liefen zu Fuß aus allen Städten dorthin und kamen noch vor ihnen an. Als er ausstieg und die vielen Menschen sah, hatte er Mitleid mit ihnen; denn sie waren sie Schafe, die keinen Hirten haben. Und er lehrte sie lange. In jener Zeit hörte der König Herodes von Jesus; denn sein Name war bekannt geworden, und man sagte: Johannes der Täufer ist von den Toten auferstanden; deshalb wirken solche Kräfte ihn ihm. Andere sagten: Er ist Elija. Wieder andere: Er ist ein Prophet, wie einer von den alten Propheten. Als aber Herodes von ihm hörte, sagte er: Johannes, den ich enthaupten ließ, ist auferstanden. Herodes hatte nämlich Johannes festnehmen und ins Gefängnis werfen lassen. Schuld daran war Herodias, die Frau seines Bruders Philippus, die er geheiratet hatte. Denn Johannes hatte zu Herodes gesagt: Du hattest nicht das Recht, die Frau deines Bruders zur Frau zu nehmen. Herodias verzieh ihm das nicht und wollte ihn töten lassen. Sie konnte ihren Plan aber nicht durchsetzen, denn Herodes fürchtete sich vor Johannes, weil er wusste, dass dieser ein gerechter und heiliger Mann war. Darum schützte er ihn. Sooft er mit ihm sprach, wurde er unruhig und ratlos, und doch hörte er ihm gern zu. Eines Tages ergab sich für Herodias eine günstige Gelegenheit. An seinem Geburtstag lud Herodes seine Hofbeamten und Offiziere zusammen mit den vornehmsten Bürgern von Galiläa zu einem Festmahl ein. Da kam die Tochter der Herodias und tanzte, und sie gefiel dem Herodes und seinen Gästen so sehr, dass der König zu ihr sagte: Wünsch dir, was du willst; ich werde es dir geben. Er schwor ihr sogar: Was du auch von mir verlangst, ich will es dir geben, und wenn es die Hälfte meines Reiches wäre. Sie ging hinaus und fragte ihre Mutter: Was soll ich mir wünschen? Herodias antwortete: Den Kopf des Täufers Johannes. Da lief das Mädchen zum König hinein und sagte: Ich will, dass du mir sofort auf einer Schale den Kopf des Täufers Johannes bringen lässt. Da wurde der König sehr traurig, aber weil er vor allen Gästen einen Schwur geleistet hatte, wollte er ihren Wunsch nicht ablehnen. Deshalb befahl er einem Scharfrichter, sofort ins Gefängnis zu gehen und den Kopf des Täufers herzubringen. Der Scharfrichter ging und enthauptete Johannes. Dann brachte er den Kopf auf einer Schale, gab ihn dem Mädchen, und das Mädchen gab ihn seiner Mutter. Als die Jünger des Johannes das hörten, kamen sie, holten seinen Leichnam und legten ihn in ein Grab. Wie es scheint, hat es Matthäus wie Lukas als Quelle gedient. Traditionell gilt Johannes Markus, Begleiter des Petrus und Paulus, als Verfasser. Sein Stil ist einfach, aber seine Theologie ist tief. Zum ersten Mal hat Markus die Erinnerungen an die vollmächtige Verkündigung mit der Leidensgeschichte verbunden – im Licht der Auferstehung. Nach der Mehrheitsmeinung der Exegeten ist das Markusevangelium kurz vor oder nach der Zerstörung des Jerusalemer Tempels 70 n. Chr. entstanden.

Als sich für die Eltern Jesu die Tage der vom Gesetz des Mose vorgeschriebenen Reinigung erfüllt hatten, brachten sie das Kind nach Jerusalem hinauf, um es dem Herrn darzustellen, wie im Gesetz des Herrn geschrieben ist: Jede männliche Erstgeburt soll dem Herrn heilig genannt werden. Auch wollten sie ihr Opfer darbringen, wie es das Gesetz des Herrn vorschreibt: ein Paar Turteltauben oder zwei junge Tauben. Und siehe, in Jerusalem lebte ein Mann namens Símeon. Dieser Mann war gerecht und fromm und wartete auf den Trost Israels und der Heilige Geist ruhte auf ihm. Vom Heiligen Geist war ihm offenbart worden, er werde den Tod nicht schauen, ehe er den Christus des Herrn gesehen habe. Er wurde vom Geist in den Tempel geführt; und als die Eltern das Kind Jesus hereinbrachten, um mit ihm zu tun, was nach dem Gesetz üblich war, nahm Símeon das Kind in seine Arme und pries Gott mit den Worten: Nun lässt du, Herr, deinen Knecht, wie du gesagt hast, in Frieden scheiden. Denn meine Augen haben das Heil gesehen, das du vor allen Völkern bereitet hast, ein Licht, das die Heiden erleuchtet, und Herrlichkeit für dein Volk Israel. Sein Vater und seine Mutter staunten über die Worte, die über Jesus gesagt wurden. Und Símeon segnete sie und sagte zu Maria, der Mutter Jesu: Siehe, dieser ist dazu bestimmt, dass in Israel viele zu Fall kommen und aufgerichtet werden, und er wird ein Zeichen sein, dem widersprochen wird, – und deine Seele wird ein Schwert durchdringen. So sollen die Gedanken vieler Herzen offenbar werden. Damals lebte auch Hanna, eine Prophetin, eine Tochter Pénuëls, aus dem Stamm Ascher. Sie war schon hochbetagt. Als junges Mädchen hatte sie geheiratet und sieben Jahre mit ihrem Mann gelebt; nun war sie eine Witwe von vierundachtzig Jahren. Sie hielt sich ständig im Tempel auf und diente Gott Tag und Nacht mit Fasten und Beten. Sie hatte von Jesus gehört. Nun drängte sie sich in der Menge von hinten an ihn heran und berührte sein Gewand. Denn sie sagte sich: Wenn ich auch nur sein Gewand berühre, werde ich geheilt. Sofort hörte die Blutung auf, und sie spürte deutlich, dass sie von ihrem Leiden geheilt war. Im selben Augenblick fühlte Jesus, dass eine Kraft von ihm ausströmte, und er wandte sich in dem Gedränge um und fragte: Wer hat mein Gewand berührt? Seine Jünger sagten zu ihm: Du siehst doch, wie sich die Leute um dich drängen, und da fragst du: Wer hat mich berührt? Er blickte umher, um zu sehen, wer es getan hatte. Da kam die Frau, zitternd vor Furcht, weil sie wusste, was mit ihr geschehen war; sie fiel vor ihm nieder und sagte ihm die ganze Wahrheit. Er aber sagte zu ihr: Meine Tochter, dein Glaube hat dir geholfen. Geh in Frieden! Du sollst von deinem Leiden geheilt sein. Während Jesus noch redete, kamen Leute, die zum Haus des Synagogenvorstehers gehörten, und sagten zu Jairus: Deine Tochter ist gestorben. Warum bemühst du den Meister noch länger? Jesus, der diese Worte gehört hatte, sagte zu dem Synagogenvorsteher: Sei ohne Furcht; glaube nur! Und er ließ keinen mitkommen außer Petrus, Jakobus und Johannes, den Bruder des Jakobus. Sie gingen zum Haus des Synagogenvorstehers. Als Jesus den Lärm bemerkte und hörte, wie die Leute laut weinten und jammerten, trat er ein und sagte zu ihnen: Warum schreit und weint ihr? Das Kind ist nicht gestorben, es schläft nur. Da lachten sie ihn aus. Er aber schickte alle hinaus und nahm außer seinen Begleitern nur die Eltern mit in den Raum, in dem das Kind lag. Schon oft hatte man ihn an Händen und Füssen gefesselt, aber er hatte die Ketten gesprengt und die Fesseln zerrissen; niemand konnte ihn bezwingen. Bei Tag und Nacht schrie er unaufhörlich in den Grabhöhlen und auf den Bergen und schlug sich mit Steinen. Als er Jesus von weitem sah, lief er zu ihm hin, warf sich vor ihm nieder und schrie laut: Was habe ich mit dir zu tun, Jesus, Sohn des höchsten Gottes? Ich beschwöre dich bei Gott, quäle mich nicht! Jesus hatte nämlich zu ihm gesagt: Verlass diesen Mann, du unreiner Geist! Jesus fragte ihn: Wie heißt du? Er antwortete: Mein Name ist Legion; denn wir sind viele. Die Hirten flohen und erzählten alles in der Stadt und in den Dörfern. Darauf eilten die Leute herbei, um zu sehen, was geschehen war. Sie kamen zu Jesus und sahen bei ihm den Mann, der von der Legion Dämonen besessen gewesen war. Er saß ordentlich gekleidet da und war wieder bei Verstand. Da fürchteten sie sich. Die, die alles gesehen hatten, berichteten ihnen, was mit dem Besessenen und mit den Schweinen geschehen war. Darauf baten die Leute Jesus, ihr Gebiet zu verlassen. Als er ins Boot stieg, bat ihn der Mann, der zuvor von den Dämonen besessen war, bei ihm bleiben zu dürfen. Aber Jesus erlaubte es ihm nicht, sondern sagte: Geh nach Hause, und berichte deiner Familie alles, was der Herr für dich getan und wie er Erbarmen mit dir gehabt hat. Da ging der Mann weg und verkündete in der ganzen Dekapolis, was Jesus für ihn getan hatte, und alle staunten. Passionierter Wein-Fotograf aus der SchweizZum Abschluss des Themenblocks Schweizer Wein freue ich ich Euch einen interessanten Gesprächspartner aus der Schweiz mit einem ungewöhnlichen Beruf in der Weinwelt präsentieren zu können: Jörg Wilczek ist Weinfotograf (hier bei LinkedIn)! Ich finde, ein sehr schönes Beispiel, welche unerwarteten Berufe und Tätigkeiten im Wine Business ergriffen werden können. Jörg hat das Fotografieren von der Pike auf als Handwerk gelernt. Zunächst brachte ihn sein Beruf in die schillernde und glitzernde Welt der Mode, wo er auf zahlreiche Stars und Sternchen traf. Allerdings hat ihn Wein schon mit Anfang 20 fasziniert, sodaß es vorprogrammiert schien, diese zwei Themen miteinander zu verbinden. Wir wissen allen, dass die Weinbaugebiete zu den schönsten Fleckchen Erde zählen und mit ihren pittoresken Landschaften hervorragende Motive darstellen. Fotografen sind aber wichtige Rädchen in der großen Maschinerie Wein. Weit abseits von verklärter Romantik und Tradition benötigen viele Betriebe und deren Produkte professionelle Aufnahmen für Marketing und Produktplatzierung. Genau hier hat Jörg eine Nische gefunden seine Kunden professionelle Bildprodukte anzubieten. Darüber hinaus hat er noch bei vielen Büchern mitgewirkt (siehe weiter unten). Cornel Wilczek is an award-winning screen and commercial composer and the owner of  Electric Dreams, an award-winning production company making music and sound for brands.Cornel's feature film work includes ‘Cut Snake', ‘These Final Hours' as well as recent TV series Stateless, The Glitch and Offspring to name a few. His company Electric Dreams is the music behind many top brands including Myer, Carlton Draught, BCF, Twinings, McDonald's, Tennis Australia and NAB.We chat to Cornel about the similarities and differences between scoring for commercial production vs film and TV, the art and science behind a memorable brand tune, and why commercial production continues to be fertile ground for composers to experiment and hone their craft.

Frank Wilczek is a physics professor at MIT, Arizona State University, and Stockholm University. He won the 2004 Nobel Prize in Physics, along with David Gross and H. David Politzer, “for the discovery of asymptotic freedom in the theory of the strong interaction.” The work, which revolutionized quantum physics, was conducted thirty-one years prior, when Wilczek was a graduate student at Princeton. He has been awarded a MacArthur Fellowship and is a member of the National Academy of Sciences and the American Academy of Arts and Sciences. He has writ- ten multiple books, including A Beautiful Question: Finding Nature's Deep Design and Fundamentals: Ten Keys to Reality. We tend to respect things in other people that we either can't see in ourselves or see in ourselves but don't live up to. This is probably why I so admire Frank Wilczek's endurance and forbearance. Those qualities are incredibly rare in a scientist and are ones I struggle with personally. He had this almost stoic patience, to wait thirty-one years for recognition, knowing all the while that he would likely win the Nobel Prize, but not receiving it. He exhibited incredible grit and resiliency. And he never lost his cheerfulness! Throughout those years, he committed to the process, dedicated himself to his craft, and kept showing up, understanding that the award is not the final arbiter of success or even satisfaction.
