What role will writers play as we head into a second Trump term? Author, journalist and Howard University professor Ta-Nehisi Coates has some thoughts. The man who has been called “one of the most important writers on the subject of America today” came to the fore during the Obama era as one of the preeminent writers on race, among other things, for his 2014 essay “The Case for Reparations” and his book Between the World and Me, an open letter to his son about growing up as a Black man in America. Kara and Ta-Nehisi discuss how the Democrats lost the “rainbow coalition” in the 2024 election, why America's “special relationship” with Israel compelled him to rally against Palestinian oppression in his latest book The Message, and why he thinks journalists will need to embrace a new and not-so-safe normal during Trump 2.0. Test episode using the new Riverside studio tools. I'm just talking through a random sports talk, and providing an example of how I try to always talk sports online in a mature manner. Some eager sports fans think online exchanges about random sports topics is an invite to engage in the silly debates seen on First Take or Undisputed. There's often little, if any, discernment used to determine if a commenter is really friend or foe. Some comments are innocuous, and mainly intended to serve as input only. Some fans could come to understand there's a difference between CRITIQUE and CRITICISM. When an eager fan can't quickly surmise this important nuance, then it might be best to annoy that type of individual and spare yourself the chore of trying to help another person mature.

In a contact sport, physical interaction is allowed. For example, if you're playing a sport with contact, such as basketball, getting fouled shouldn't make you angry. Instead, you should be pleased because it means the opposing player had to violate the rules to impede your progress. You should see it as a reward for forcing them into that violation, which is why we have free throws in basketball. Today's subject is business, and it can be considered a contact sport. We will explore what that means and how it will impact you in the future. We'll discuss what you should expect and how it will affect you moving forward. Over the past few years, hundreds of rugby players have launched class-action lawsuits against the sport's governing bodies, accusing them of failing to do enough to protect players from head injuries. They say that repeated blows to the head, sustained through years of playing rugby, or other sports, have caused neurodegenerative conditions like dementia, motor neurone and Parkinson's diseases. But can scientific evidence prove a link between contact sports and these brain conditions? Alix Popham, a Welsh former professional rugby player, tells his story of head injuries on the pitch and his desired outcomes from the lawsuits. Plus, Lauren Pulling, who runs the Drake Foundation, explains the current state of neuroscientific research and what further studies are needed to investigate the connection.
