Your boys are back this week to discuss the beach, Full Moon, and many other things. In honor of Sabu, the iconic hardcore wrestler who just died, we watch his first ECW match and chat about how homicidal he was. After that, we discuss the 1972 proto-slasher West Coast weirdo movie, "Private Parts" from 1972. It's not the Howard Stern, it was Paul Bartel's (Eating Raoul, Death Race 2000) first movie! In it, a girl visits her aunt in an old creepy hotel and runs afoul of the weird inhabitants. Meera Sodha is a cook and food writer based in London. Meera's best-selling cookbooks and weekly Guardian column, The New Vegan, are some of my favorite sources of cooking inspiration, but like many people, she experienced burnout that led her to fall out of love with food. Today on the show, Meera talks about finding her way back into the kitchen and how that experience inspired her new book, Dinner, an honest and helpful guide to getting the most important meal of the day on the table. Also on the show we have a conversation with Susan Dominus. Susan is a staff writer at the New York Times Magazine the author of a terrific new book, The Family Dynamic. We talk about how parents—and siblings—shape and fuel individual success, and focus on family a story with a Chinese restaurant at the center. We also talk about some of Susan's food-related work at the Times.Do you enjoy This Is TASTE? Drop us a review on Apple, or star us on Spotify. We'd love to hear from you. Baroness Floella Benjamin once said “childhood lasts a lifetime” and our experiences of school dinners can shape how we eat for the rest of our lives. In this edition of The Food Programme Sheila Dillon investigates the importance of those early food memories with the help of Dr Heather Ellis from the School Meals Project. The Project says its aim is to produce the first ever comprehensive history of school meals across the different nations of the United Kingdom The programme makes a trip to the Food Museum in Suffolk to see a landmark exhibition around school food and Sheila pays a visit to a forward-thinking school in West London which bakes its own bread with flour made from the wheat that it grows just outside the school kitchen!Presented by Sheila Dillon Produced in Bristol for BBC Audio by Robin MarkwellFeaturing an archive clip from BBC Breakfast in April 2025 with Education Secretary Bridget Phillipson MP Also a brief extract from the book The Farmer's Wife: My Life In Days by Helen Rebanks

In Dinner for Shoes episode 70, host Sarah Wasilak recaps her weekend at the Formula 1 Crypto.com Miami Grand Prix and shares details about the two distinctive fashion aesthetics she spotted among the crowd. The racing trend has obviously been big for a while now, and Sarah discusses the power players in the F1 world that have established its relevance, from Lewis Hamilton hitting up the paddock in designer streetwear to the F1 wives and girlfriends making celebrity entrances with the drivers. From LVMH's 10-year partnership with Formula 1 to brands like Alo Yoga, Adidas, and Louis Vuitton launching collections and initiatives surrounding the sport, F1 fashion is only growing more prominent.Sarah complements the conversation with Red Bull and shrimp cocktail, both of which were present during her weekend in Miami as she partied with the Red Bull Racing Team at the track after hours and ate some of the best shrimp cocktail of her life at one of the many buzzy Miami restaurants she hit up during her trip.Whether you're in need of outfit advice or in the midst of a style dilemma, the Shoe Therapy hotline is open for your anonymous texts and voicemails. Most bats use echolocation to navigate and hunt, but some use their ears for another trick: eavesdropping. "And then these frog-eating bats, for example, they are actually listening in on the mating calls of frogs that are much, much lower in frequency," says behavioral ecologist Rachel Page. But how the bats knew this eavesdropping trick was a mystery. So she set up and experiment with baby bats and a speaker. Have a question about the animals all around us? The full NFL schedule will be released today. We want to be able to announce one of the games, even if it's a week 10 Jets/Dolphins game. A caller told us just to eat dinner at the golf course we're playing, which is a pretty good idea. Jerry returns for an update and starts with Evan Roberts proclaiming the Knicks success as a Nets fan has him ‘dead'. The Pacers moved on to the conference finals after knocking off the Cavaliers. Jayson Tatum had his achilles surgery. The Yankees lost to the Mariners in 11 and we heard from Max Fried. Boomer said he had a conversation with Dave Sims about him taking off the A's series. The Mets beat the Pirates 2-1 as Baty homered. Carlos Mendoza talked about Baty's recent performance. Pete Alonso was late to get on the field one inning. He might have been in the bathroom. In the final segment of the hour, we remember Katy Monte, who passed away from Cystic Fibrosis. Boomer knew her well and she was a Michael Brennan Award winner. More NFL games have been released and we're getting Chiefs at Cowboys on Thanksgiving.
Kate and Molly speak with podcast host Sutanya Dacres about her debut memoir, Dinner for One, which was inspired by her podcast of the same name. Sutanya shares how her 'anti-fairytale' led to a show and a book, how she developed her writer's voice and her thoughts on what makes a memoir and why her book is unique to the 'American in Paris' lexicon. She describes how finding the arc of the story lies in choosing the right focal points before sharing the challenges inherent in writing about real events and people and how living in Paris has shifted her approach to life. Finally, she shares some advice for aspiring memoirists and discusses her supper club, restaurant pop-ups and tells us what she has planned for the future.Hosts: Kate Leahy + Molly Stevens + Kristin Donnelly + Andrea NguyenEditor: Abby Cerquitella Sign up for our LIVE!
