Why Christians Are Choosing CHM During Open Enrollment with Lauren Gajdek

Many people say our healthcare system is broken—and maybe you've felt that yourself.Rising costs, denied claims, and surprise bills have left millions of Americans buried in medical debt. But there's a better, biblical way to approach healthcare—one that has been serving Christians for more than forty years. Lauren Gajdek joins us today to tell us all about it.Lauren Gajdek is the Senior Director of External Affairs at Christian Healthcare Ministries (CHM), an underwriter of Faith & Finance. Why an “Open Enrollment” Campaign for a Year-Round Ministry? While CHM accepts new members year-round, their Open Enrollment Campaign—running from November 1 through January 15—aligns with the period when most Americans review or change their health coverage through employers or government exchanges. This is the time of year when people are thinking about healthcare decisions. So even though CHM is open year-round, it's an excellent opportunity to shine a light on a biblical alternative. Many Americans have grown frustrated with their healthcare experiences. CHM hears from countless people who've paid premiums for years, only to find that help is unavailable when they need it most. It's disheartening. You think your provider is in-network, but later find out they're not. That leaves patients confused and financially burdened. It's a system that often leaves believers wondering if there's a better way. That sense of frustration has become widespread—especially as over 100 million Americans now carry medical debt, a staggering sign of a broken system. How CHM Differs from InsuranceCHM operates from a radically different model. Rather than paying into a profit-driven system, CHM members share each other's medical expenses—a reflection of biblical community and mutual care. They've been around since 1981 and have shared or satisfied over $13 billion in medical bills. They're a nonprofit ministry that helps Christians live out their faith through practical care.Unlike traditional insurance, CHM members can visit any doctor or hospital they choose—there are no in-network restrictions—as long as the treatment meets the ministry's guidelines. It's simple, affordable, and rooted in biblical stewardship. Members have the freedom and peace of mind that come with knowing they're part of a community that cares. At its core, CHM is not an insurance company—it's a Christ-centered community built on shared values. Members give monthly to help other believers in need. It's an act of faith and stewardship. And for most people, it's far more affordable than traditional plans. This affordability and flexibility are especially appealing for Christians seeking to align their healthcare decisions with their faith and values.Guidance for Those Exploring Their OptionsFor anyone comparing healthcare choices this season, approach the decision prayerfully and with an open mind. You don't have to be trapped in a broken insurance system. There's a proven, Christ-centered way to handle your healthcare. Go to CHMinistries.org/FaithFi to find a cost comparison tool that shows how CHM can make care more affordable. Many in the Faith & Finance audience are retirees or nearing retirement. So it's important to note that CHM also complements Medicare, helping cover eligible expenses Medicare may not cover. It's what they call a ‘complementary' approach, where CHM can help cover costs Medicare doesn't pay, as long as they fall within its guidelines.FaithFi is grateful for CHM's partnership and their ongoing commitment to helping believers steward their healthcare costs wisely. You don't have to settle for a system that's broken. There's a biblical, community-based way to manage your healthcare needs. Learn more at CHMinistries.org/FaithFi.On Today's Program, Rob Answers Listener Questions:A pastor friend of mine was told he owes $13,000 in taxes because his preparer made a mistake. He doesn't have the money to pay for it. Where can he turn for help?I own a small business structured as an LLC, and I'm confused about how to tithe. Should I tithe personally from what I pay myself, from the business profits at year-end, or both?I'm a pastor, and one of my church members is struggling. After his father's death, the estate was liquidated, leaving him without a home. He hasn't filed taxes and now has tax debt. What's the best way for him to address this?I'm looking into a debt management plan and wondering—will it hurt my credit score? And would I still be able to keep one credit card open for emergencies?Resources Mentioned:Faithful Steward: FaithFi's Quarterly Magazine (Become a FaithFi Partner)Christian Healthcare Ministries (CHM)National Christian Foundation (NCF)Christian Credit CounselorsWisdom Over Wealth: 12 Lessons from Ecclesiastes on MoneyLook At The Sparrows: A 21-Day Devotional on Financial Fear and AnxietyRich Toward God: A Study on the Parable of the Rich FoolFind a Certified Kingdom Advisor (CKA)FaithFi App Remember, you can call in to ask your questions every workday at (800) 525-7000. As part of the Radio 4 Fatherhood season, Clare McDonnell and her guests discuss the role of fatherhood in men's lives. Darren Harriott is a 37-year-old comedian and presenter of Father Figuring. Darren has now lived longer than his dad, who took his own life while in prison, and he is questioning would he be a good dad? What even makes a good dad? They are joined by Dr Robin Hadley who has written a book looking at why men, like himself, do not become fathers. In 2016 Natalie Queiroz was stabbed 24 times by her partner while she was eight months pregnant. He is currently nine years into an 18 year sentence for attempted murder and attempted child destruction. Natalie and her unborn daughter nearly died. Earlier this year she learned that changes by the Ministry of Justice meant that her attacker could be transferred to an open prison many years earlier than she had expected.  She's been campaigning against this but has recently learned his application for a transfer has been approved. Clare hears from Natalie and Ellie Butt from Refuge.Laura Mulvey, filmmaker and pioneering feminist theorist, first coined the term ‘the male gaze'. The British Film Institute's Fellowship is a pretty starry list – Bette Davis, Martin Scorsese, Judi Dench, Tilda Swinton, Christopher Nolan, Tom Cruise....to name a few and now Laura has been added to that prestigious list. Tomorrow Women's Super League Football will officially unveil Design Guidelines for the Delivery of Elite Women's Stadiums in England – a world first framework supporting clubs, local authorities, and architects in building or upgrading venues specifically for their women's teams. They say the rapid growth of the women's game has demonstrated that football venues, historically built and designed for male players and fans, need to be better equipped to cater towards the specific needs of female athletes and supporters. What if your investments did more than earn returns—what if they helped shape the culture for good?Today, we'll explore how your money can not only grow but also advance God's purposes in the world. Brian Mumbert joins us from Timothy Plan to share how faith-based investing allows believers to engage the culture with an eternal impact.Brian Mumbert is the President of Timothy Plan, an underwriter of Faith & Finance.Giving That Flows from FaithAt the heart of Timothy Plan's mission is a conviction that money is not merely a financial tool but a spiritual one. Timothy Partners, Ltd.—the advisor to Timothy Plan—tithes its profits to support ministries aligned with biblical values. Those partnerships reflect a desire to be active on the other side of Timothy Plan's investment screens. In other words, it's not enough to avoid investing in companies that exploit, harm, or oppose biblical principles. True stewardship involves using financial influence to protect life, defend freedom, equip biblical entrepreneurs, and strengthen families. This commitment is not theoretical—it's deeply practical. In Central Florida, Timothy Plan partners with organizations such as Choices Women's Clinic, the area's largest pro-life pregnancy center, as well as House of Hope Orlando and the Orange County Jail Ministry. Nationally, their reach extends through partnerships with organizations like Movieguide and Florida Family Voice.Through the Kairos Prize, Timothy Plan helps fund aspiring Christian filmmakers with seed capital to develop their projects. Another powerful partnership is with the Nehemiah Project, which equips entrepreneurs worldwide to start and grow businesses based on biblical principles.A Legacy of Business as MinistryTimothy Plan's founder, Art Ally, was inspired by the legendary Christian industrialist R.G. LeTourneau, who dedicated 90% of his income to God's work. LeTourneau often said, “I shovel out the money, and God shovels it back—but God's got a bigger shovel.”That philosophy continues to shape Timothy Plan's culture. They see business as ministry, and since we are all stewards of God's money, we want to ensure it has an eternal impact. For many investors, the idea that their portfolio could be shaping the culture might feel new. But as an investor, we really need to understand where our dollars are going. When we invest with a biblical worldview, we're not just seeking a return—we're influencing what gets built, produced, and promoted in our world. This approach aligns with the broader mission of Timothy Plan: to provide investment options that reflect the values of faith-driven investors and to mobilize generosity that brings light into dark places. The impact of this approach is tangible. You can see the joy on their faces and the difference these ministries are making—locally in Central Florida and across the nation. At FaithFi, we share that conviction: when you invest with purpose, your portfolio can do more than generate returns—it can help bring redemption and renewal to our culture. To learn more about biblically responsible investing and how your financial stewardship can make an eternal impact, visit TimothyPlan.com.On Today's Program, Rob Answers Listener Questions:I'm planning to retire in 2027 and want to move my deferred compensation. Protecting The Lives Of American Law Enforcement Officers: A Special Episode on Trauma, Health, and Hope. The average life expectancy for American law enforcement officers is just 57 years, a stark contrast to the general population's 78 to 79 years. Behind that number lies a sobering reality: a career spent protecting others often comes at the expense of one's own health. This special episode of the Law Enforcement Talk Radio Show and Podcast is available for free on their website, also on Apple Podcasts, Spotify, Youtube and many other podcast platforms. Heart disease, chronic stress, trauma, and the relentless demands of the badge all play a role. “Many officers only live a few years into retirement,” says John Jay Wiley, host of the Law Enforcement Talk Radio Show and Podcast. “That's not just a statistic, it's a tragedy that reflects the immense pressure these men and women endure.” Law Enforcement Talk Radio Show and Podcast social media like their Facebook , Instagram , LinkedIn , Medium and other social media platforms. In this Special Episode, available on Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, YouTube, X, Apple, Spotify, and Radio, Wiley welcomes Eric Caron, a retired U.S. Special Agent and Diplomat, to discuss the unseen toll of the job, and the urgent need to protect the mental and physical well-being of those who protect us. The Hidden Cost of the Badge, Protecting The Lives Of American Law Enforcement Officers: A Special Episode on Trauma, Health, and Hope. Officers face risks that go beyond the dangers of the streets. Studies show that law enforcement professionals have: A much higher rate of heart disease, with heart attacks often striking as early as age 46, compared to 65 in the general population. Elevated risks of hypertension, diabetes, and obesity, conditions tied directly to chronic stress and irregular shift work. Shorter retirements, with many officers passing away just a few years after leaving the job. “It's not just the stress of one bad day,” Wiley explains. “It's the accumulation of hundreds of critical incidents over a career, what we call death by a thousand cuts.” Available for free on their website and streaming on Apple Podcasts, Spotify, and other podcast platforms. The Psychological Battle Caron, who spent years investigating child pornography and sex crimes, describes the haunting reality of prolonged exposure to such cases. “When you're staring into that darkness every day, it leaves a mark,” he says. “You see the worst of humanity, and it takes discipline and community to not let that darkness consume you.” Protecting The Lives Of American Law Enforcement Officers: A Special Episode on Trauma, Health, and Hope. According to research, trauma in law enforcement leads to alarmingly high rates of PTSD, depression, and anxiety: PTSD rates among police officers reach as high as 35%*, compared to 6.8% in the general population. Officers are far more likely to experience emotional numbing, hyperarousal, and flashbacks from traumatic events. Many suffer from compassion fatigue**, a type of emotional burnout caused by repeated exposure to tragedy and human suffering. Caron explains that repeated exposure to graphic violence and child exploitation can cause what psychologists call traumatic layering. “It's not one event, it's hundreds,” he says. “Each one leaves a scar.” The Law Enforcement Talk Radio Show and Podcast episode is available for free on their website , Apple Podcasts , Spotify and most major podcast platforms. The Ripple Effects The consequences of trauma ripple through every aspect of an officer's life: Emotional strain often leads to relationship issues and isolation. Negative coping mechanisms, like alcohol or substance use, are far too common. Cognitive impairment from chronic stress affects memory, judgment, and performance on duty. Physical health problems such as high blood pressure, gastrointestinal issues, and cardiovascular disease frequently follow. “Every case, every call, adds another layer,” Wiley says. “And too often, we lose great people not in the line of duty, but to the silent battles they fight afterward.” Protecting The Lives Of American Law Enforcement Officers: A Special Episode on Trauma, Health, and Hope.  The full podcast episode is streaming now on Apple Podcasts, Spotify, and across Facebook, Instagram, and LinkedIn. Protecting Those Who Protect Us Throughout the conversation, Caron shares the methods he and his teams used to safeguard their mental health while investigating the most disturbing crimes imaginable. “We had to find ways to stay human,” he says. “Exercise, faith, humor, and having a strong support system, it all mattered.” Caron now dedicates his post-service career to helping others stay “Switched On”, the philosophy behind his bestselling book SWITCHED ON, The Heart and Mind of a Special Agent and his mindset program, Switched On Life. Through his writing, website, and podcast, Caron teaches strategies for resilience, emotional control, and self-awareness in high-stress careers. You're listening to Right On Radio. Live right in the real world. And welcome to Right On Radio, everyone. I hope you're having a good day. In this episode host Jeff is joined by John Brisson of "We've Read the Documents" for a wide‑ranging conversation that moves between scripture, current events and spiritual analysis. The show opens with the fan‑favorite segment "Word on Word," comparing Colossians 1:9 and 1 Thessalonians 5:11 and hearing listener reactions. The hosts reflect on Veterans Day—honoring service while debating the public persona of figures like Michael Jaco. They distinguish gratitude for enlisted men and women from critique of clandestine programs and influencer claims, urging prayer for the lost and discernment about public narratives. Political stories and cultural moments are unpacked, from Trump's “golden years” quip and a surprising David Bowie Lord's Prayer clip to debates over whether the recent government shutdown or Q‑related drops are being framed as "biblical." Jeff and John voice skepticism about QAnon's Gnostic and New Age language and warn how spiritual language can be repurposed. Geoengineering and chemtrail theories dominate a large segment: the pair review a striking Tucker Carlson interview with Dane Wigington, discuss evidence shown on geoengineeringwatch.org, and debate claims that "white hats" might be spraying the skies to "clean up" atmospheric issues—while raising concerns about environmental contamination and media framing. The conversation turns to the unfolding 3‑1A Atlas story, Abby Loeb's coverage, and questions about whether an orbital object was an asteroid, a mother ship or part of a staged disclosure. They examine soft‑disclosure signs—from crop circles to public symbolism—and speculate about possible spiritual and technological setups, including the viral clip of a White House Halloween post showing a two‑headed eagle and online theories linking Trump, Melania and the white horse prophecy. Other news items include the latest Epstein‑related email releases, Jared Kushner and Palantir connections (and the Flynn family ties), and the pair's different takes on culpability and controlled narratives. Tucker Carlson's claimed supernatural encounter and the larger question of demons, angels and interdimensional phenomena are debated with personal testimony and caution. Throughout the episode Jeff and John emphasize spiritual discernment: separating genuine Christian witness from New Age or Gnostic reinterpretations, honoring those who serve while exposing harmful systems, and resisting sensational soundbites out of context. The show closes with practical counsel—love your God, love your family, love your neighbor—and an invitation to a Telegram prayer meeting that evening, plus a heads‑up about Jeff's upcoming series and where to follow John online. People are arguing online about the attractiveness of Melania Trump as opposed to Rama Duwaji. Apparently it's necessary to have such useless tribal and trivial debates in order to cope with two failed political systems. On the other hand, this might remind one of the “Which Way Western Man” meme that went super viral on social media. Earlier in 2025 across all the major social media platforms an image of Sydney Sweeney was compared to one of former Japanese idol-Saori Araki and men were asked to vote for which was more preferable. Most men also had no idea who Araki was, instead believing it to be some random asian girl. In every poll and survey, men from all over the world and Internet, though some women may have voted and some men may have voted more than once - these were unofficial polls - chose the seemingly random asian woman in a business suit over a sultry photo of the Hollywood blonde bombshell. The reason? Araki appeared “relatable,” “wholesome,” and most importantly “low-maintenance.” Sweeney appeared the total opposite. Turns out that Araki was also a model, too, but yet embodied a different presence as a girl in comparison with Hollywood standards. Attraction is about more than sex appeal and it appears that guys in these surveys preferred innocence as opposed to worldliness. How could this be when women were taught by fashion, makeup, the media, and subgroups of men that Sweeney is the ideal human female? Remember, Araki was also a model but embodying a different style completely. No blatant sexuality, cleavage, rear-end shots, or dumb expression. Just cute and innocent. Yes, these things are cultural, relative, subjective, and prone to change, but something else was happening here. Strangely, Araki's image is not unique, since conservatives have embraced the “trad wife” motif online, which represents all the same qualities of the former idol. For conservatives, however, Sweeney was the standard, and possibly so because she represents the total opposite of the alternative option: fat, dyed hair, obnoxious, loud, assertive, masculine feminists who have come to represent all western women. Compare Sweeney to some girl in Asia and she still loses. Maybe conservatives don't understand femininity either. Is it a defending of what some politically see as “white culture,” or is there more to the story? We are simultaneously watching statistics build an indication that men overwhelmingly reject fake women, their careers, personalities, and even overt sexuality in favor of simplicity and kindness. This goes for obnoxious liberal women and fake conservative women too. Nowhere is this more evident than in the ironic OnlyfansTV which now offers fully clothed woman doing the unthinkable - cooking. That's right, former and current porn stars, mostly well established ones that need no publicity, trying to stay relevant by embracing cooking while being fully dressed. It's almost as if the problems have corrected themselves. Women are now saying, “okay, you'll pay me to keep my clothes on and just cook….well, at least it's better than being a wife….”*The is the FREE archive, which includes advertisements. Today, on Notable Leaders' Radio, I speak with Tony Crescenzo, CEO of Intelligent Waves & Founder of Peak Neuro, LLC. He highlights his compelling journey from a resilient upbringing and military service to pioneering leadership insights and transformative healing with brain-training technology.   In today's episode, we discuss: Remember the importance of "always do the right thing." Tony's grandfather's timeless advice served as his moral compass, guiding him through every personal and business decision. He discovered that by valuing integrity, you foster trust and build a strong, lasting reputation. See adversity as an opportunity to grow and learn. Tony's time in the military, especially the hurdles he faced as his military career came to a close, reminds us how much reputation truly matters. Welcome setbacks as moments to build character and become someone others truly respect and trust. To ease conflicts, try to understand the root of fear rather than just anger. Through his journey with anger, he learned that anger is really fear turned upside down. Embracing this awareness enabled him to transition from fear/anger to compassion and a deeper understanding of himself and others in times of challenge. Consider responding to anger with empathy—it can be a beautiful way to strengthen both your work and personal relationships. Prioritize your sleep and mental health with effective strategies. For instance, Tony saw wonderful improvements in his sleep, memory, and mood by using brainwave entrainment. Taking some proactive steps to care for yourself—such as getting good rest and keeping your mind clear—can truly make a significant difference in your happiness and productivity. Adopt the idea of "generals eat last" as your leadership guiding principle. As Tony beautifully shared, inspiring leaders always put their teams first, creating a warm environment full of trust and stability. When you focus on serving and supporting others, it gently builds loyalty and can significantly lift your team's performance. Embracing this approach can truly make your leadership journey more rewarding and fulfilling! Be open to new modalities of healing. Tony lived with PTSD for 30 years. He believed his anger and stress from his time in the military were a part of him and his life now. It wasn't until he stumbled across a new assistive technology that he learned that was not the case. It is also inspired the creation of PeakNeuro, an AI-enabled platform that uses acoustic audio-entrainment to help veterans and leaders regulate stress, get better sleep, and improve human performance overall through cognitive resilience. As Christians, we are called to serve. It's more than just ticking a box or attending an event; it's woven into who we are—truly part of our very nature. At least, it should be. Toni Campbell's book, "Jesus Has Left the Building," offers not only a dozen inspiring and practical ways to spread the love of Christ into our communities, both now and in the future, but also includes detailed step-by-step guidance on how to make it happen. Toni shares personal stories about how these ideas took shape, openly discusses the mistakes along the way, and celebrates the lives impacted, all while providing helpful details such as timelines, required tools, volunteer needs, estimated costs, and resources to consider. This isn't just a book full of ideas; it's a toolkit and an inspiring guide for action. Growing up, Toni loved singing, writing, and acting. She studied voice at Westminster Choir College and music at Rider University, dreaming of a career in performance. However, after two semesters, she married and took a job that eventually led her to a 20-year career in Human Resources—working for a school district, a publisher, and ultimately, a pharmaceutical company. When that company closed its doors in 2002, Toni decided to go back to school and took Communication courses. She quickly fell in love with radio, and thanks to a professor's encouragement to try commercial writing, she interned at a local radio station. Just a few months later, she started a new chapter in their Creative Services department, where she spent 12 wonderful years — first as a Copywriter and later as a Creative Services Director — creating, voicing, and producing commercials for five stations. During this time, she also enjoyed teaching as an Adjunct Professor at the same college where she earned her Radio degree, teaching Writing for Radio/TV and Intro to Radio for five years.  This is Toni's second visit with Sue Duffield on the Suebiquitous Podcast. ,  "Let God Do What God Does Best" - Toni Campbell. www.tonicampbell.org
