It's ask yourself very clearly, like, why haven't I done this? What has been in the way? Is this actually something I still want to do? Can I actually do it and then set new measurable goals, set new milestones and make it happen. Lesley Logan 0:14  Welcome to the Be It Till You See It podcast where we talk about taking messy action, knowing that perfect is boring. I'm Lesley Logan, Pilates instructor and fitness business coach. I've trained thousands of people around the world and the number one thing I see stopping people from achieving anything is self-doubt. My friends, action brings clarity and it's the antidote to fear. Each week, my guest will bring bold, executable, intrinsic and targeted steps that you can use to put yourself first and Be It Till You See It. It's a practice, not a perfect. Let's get started. Lesley Logan 0:53  Welcome back to the Be It Till You See It interview recap where my co-host in life, Brad, and I are going to dig into the purposeful convo I had with Wendee Close in our last episode. If you haven't yet listened to that interview, feel free to listen to that one first, then come back and listen to this one, or listen to this one and see if you agree with what we liked about that one. It's your choice. That's what's really important about the Be It Till You See It podcast, you choose. You choose how you want to listen. Today is July 17th. Brad Crowell 1:22  You choose very closely. Lesley Logan 1:23  Yeah, I hope you like that, Wendee. I'm sure she hasn't heard that before. It's like, my mom's last name growing up was Friesen, and like, she was super tall, so they would always go, how is the weather up there? Is it Friesen? Right, like, wow. I know kids are clever and cruel. Anyways, that's, I don't know why that popped in my head. Welcome to ADHD. So today is July 17th 2025 and it's National Tattoo Day. It was also another day, but obviously I have to pick this one, tattooing, the art of inserting pigment under the dermis layer of the skin. Brad Crowell 2:00  In case you didn't know. Lesley Logan 2:01  To create a decorative, symbolic or pictorial design or just a sticker on your body, permanent sticker on your body. Brad Crowell 2:01  Permanent sticker on your body. Lesley Logan 2:06  How I like to think of it. And on National Tattoo Day, July 17th, we set time aside to learn more about the tattooing process. It's a societal importance and history. Okay, here we go.Brad Crowell 2:17  I didn't know that. I'm in on societal importance. Lesley Logan 2:20  You guys, in case you don't understand the process of picking which day, it really is like what title speaks to us, and then we learn about the day as we read about it with you on air, and that someday could become problematic, but we'll edit it out then I guess you'll never know. So if you don't have a tattoo, you likely, or you're likely, to know someone who does. And if you've asked them how they knew at the time when they were getting inked whether they would still want that design on their skin years or decades later, you may have just gotten a peculiar look instead of an explanation. There is a certainly a fraternal connection between people who bear tattoos, a connection that those without ink can never really understand. We asked one correspondent to try address this phenomenon. He said, tattoos began as a ceremony, and they're still kind of like that. Once you're in an artist's needle, it's like a little it's a little like a religious experience. It's like the aha moment people talk about having in a business life. It illuminates something you didn't see before. I don't understand any of that. That doesn't resonate with me in any. Brad Crowell 3:15  Yeah, me neither. Lesley Logan 3:16  So first of all, I overthought my first tattoo, way too much. Brad Crowell 3:20  I mean, took me 15 years to get my first tattoo, because of the same thing. Lesley Logan 3:25  15 years from when you're 18 or like?Brad Crowell 3:29  Yeah, yeah, I didn't get one. So I guess that's not true. I wanted to get a tattoo in my teens. My parents said no, but I started designing it in my teens. Lesley Logan 3:38  Okay, okay. Brad Crowell 3:39  And then I didn't actually get one until 30 years old.Lesley Logan 3:45  Yeah, I got my first one on a blind date.Brad Crowell 3:48  You got one on a blind date? Lesley Logan 3:50  Yeah, we wanted something to do. Brad Crowell 3:52  Wow. Lesley Logan 3:53  I know. Brad Crowell 3:53  This is the first time I'm hearing this story, y'all. Do tell. Lesley Logan 3:57  Anyways. Brad Crowell 3:58  How'd that go? Lesley Logan 3:59  I never saw that person again. And I covered up that tattoo after I left my ex with the cherry blossoms that we then added on to, and then I just got others. Because once you get the first one, you kind of start to just get other ones and.Brad Crowell 4:21  Well, the hurdle has been left, you know, like, you're, you're, there's this weird mental block of like, I don't know if I want to keep that thing on my body forever. And then after, after you get your first one, you realize no one actually gives a shit. And then also you're like yeah, you know.Lesley Logan 4:38  We speaking on podcast or proponents for tattoos? Brad Crowell 4:39  Yeah, I'm not. I'm not that worried about it either. Because here's the other thing, you can also change the tattoo or you can cover the tattoo or you can remove the tattoo.Lesley Logan 4:50  Or you can remove it. Keith Davidson removed all of his tattoos. He is a complete blank slate. Google it right now. Brad Crowell 4:55  No way. Lesley Logan 4:56  Google it right now, because I thought for sure, it's AI and people were saying it's AI, and he has done actual interviews about it, and he there's no way it's makeup. He has, he spent $200,000 getting them all removed. And I thought that's all it costs to cover remove his entire body. Brad Crowell 5:12  I mean, he had a he had. Lesley Logan 5:13  His whole head to toe, like he was so covered. So anyways, our neighbor is shout out to Brieanna, Viva Vanish skincare, she actually removes tattoos. So like, to me, you could just remove it, right? Or you could cover it up, but you, you, you do overthink the first ones, and then you kind of just get them, and they just become part of you. Also, I've gotten, like, my dream catcher, my dream catcher tattoo. It is really funny. When I got it. Remember this, Brad, I got the dream catcher tattoo. It takes up my whole fucking arm. We came back from Cambodia.Brad Crowell 5:48  Upper arm, shoulder down to elbow. Lesley Logan 5:49  Yeah, shoulder to my elbow. We come back from Cambodia and, like, literally, no one notices. Like, no one notices. And I'm starting to think that like it, people don't like it, you know, and all this stuff. And so I'm, like, starting to make this through my head, and then someone who I've never met in person, they only know me through social media. I was at an event, and they're like, oh my god, is that a new tattoo? And I said, it is. Thank you. I just got it, I just got it right. And other people are like, that's new. And I'm like, yeah, there are people who, like, have known me for years, and I'm like, they're like, well, you're just, like, a person with tattoos. You just have tattoos. So anyways, all I had to say is, you know, I saw a reel or a meme. It was just like, tattoos are just stickers for adults. And, like, we like pretty things.Brad Crowell 6:32  I'm in on that. And I was looking up the Pete Davidson thing still, and I found something really interesting. He did an interview with Variety, why he decided to remove all of his tattoos, and apparently he's not removed every single one, but he's removed the majority. He said, on deciding to remove his tattoos, I used to be a drug addict and I was a sad person, and I felt ugly and that I needed to be covered up, and I didn't. And I don't think there's anything wrong with tattoos, but mine, when I look at them, I remember a sad person that was very unsure, so just removing them and starting fresh, because that's what I think works best for me with my brain. When I look at them in the mirror, I don't want the reminder of, oh yeah, you were a fucking drug addict. Like, that's why you have a Sponge Bob smoking a joint on your back. So good for him. Lesley Logan 7:18  Oh, I love that. But see, that's the thing. You can just remove it. So, you know.Brad Crowell 7:22  I mean, it's a process, but it can be removed. It's money and time, yeah. Lesley Logan 7:26  You know what? There's a lot of things you could spend your money on. I, don't get something you don't want. But also like. You. Brad Crowell 7:33  I like, I mean there's definitely sentimentality around the tattoos that that I have, have put thought into them. It hasn't been just like, on a whim, but also, too, the more like, as you get after you get your first one, the second one, the decision to get it was, like, much faster than the first one. Lesley Logan 7:52  Well, I also just want to say, like, you don't have to get them, and it's also fine if you get them and don't over, like, don't overthink it so much because it, because you kind of make it perfect and, like, you're trying to get all perfect. And it's, it's, like, it's, there's no judgment either way, like, you're gonna, life will go on. Brad Crowell 8:10  Well, we are very big proponents of ink and tattoos. We think they're really fun and cool. Lesley Logan 8:15  If it's part of your personality, like, and also, like, I don't, I don't think I remember my parents saying, you like, oh, you're gonna be so judged. You'll never get a job, like, that has never happened to me one time, and I have tattoos all over my hands and like, no one notices. Brad Crowell 8:17  Yeah, yeah. Lesley Logan 8:17  You know. So most of them are for me anyways, because when I have to look at myself in the mirror all the time, and I have to, like, look at what I do, like, or on a camera live all the time, and I'm like, I just want something to look at that's not just my family. Just my face. Like, I'm so tired of looking at my own face, I would like to see something else. So that was really a lot of it for me. Anyways. Brad Crowell 8:50  Anyways. Lesley Logan 8:52  Back to this podcast (inaudible) coming up. So, today we actually kick off Agency Mini 11. That's happening right now. Brad Crowell 9:01  Right now. Right now. If you'd have no idea what that means, and you were like, I need in on this, go to prfit.biz/mini. That's profit without the O dot biz slash mini. Lesley Logan 9:10  It's for Pilates instructors and fitness instructors who want to improve their business and attract clients that actually want to teach and make the money they want to make. So that sounds like you. You do want to sign up for this because the next one with our calendar, if it's possible being Q1 of next year.Brad Crowell 9:25  Yeah, we're, we've been literally, like, tentatively looking at February. Lesley Logan 9:25  Yeah and it could be the end of February. Brad Crowell 9:30  So it's not, we're not doing another one, we're not doing another one this year. And, and honestly, it's a killer program. So, and it's also not expensive, you should definitely do it.Lesley Logan 9:40  62.50 sign up today. Three days. First couple days of replays. There you go. All right. Then we are now really in the countdown of our Summer Tour the van has.Brad Crowell 9:52  We leave next week. Lesley Logan 9:54  I know the van has a new look. We have a huge tour going on. We have so many cities that are sold out. So many people are we're so excited to see in person for the first time, some we were seeing in person for the third or fourth time. We can't even wait. It's powered by Balanced Body, which means we actually bring some of the Contrology equipment with us. You can try it out. We have amazing prizes from them to give out, we're bringing Bayon. So it's opc.me/tour and then you can see all the different cities. And some of these cities, you are easily drivable. We have people who are coming to two cities, so you can do that too. Also, if you're having a little FOMO that we're not coming to a city anywhere in driving distance near you. And I just want to remind you, we are driving for several thousands of miles so you can drive a few hundred. Brad Crowell 10:38  Yeah, you can, it's okay, come join us. Lesley Logan 10:38  But it's like, if that's not an option, the Calgary event is a virtual event. And so it's in-person, of course, but there's virtual seats that are available, and they're limited. So you can get those at opc.me/tour, just pick the Calgary event. And then we come back.Brad Crowell 10:48  That's, I just want to call that again, if you weren't listening, we have virtual tickets for the summer tour for two workshops. Lesley Logan 10:51  Yeah, we've never done that before. Brad Crowell 10:56  Go to opc.me/calgary. To go directly to where you find them. Opc.me/calgary. Cool.Lesley Logan 11:05  Yeah. And then we come back rest up, unpack, repack, because we're going from summer to Scotland's fall, and we are going to be in the UK. We'll be in Leeds and in Essex. Brad Crowell 11:17  Yeah, we're running out of seats over there, y'all. It's exciting.Lesley Logan 11:19  Yeah, oh yeah. It's, well, at the time we're recording every time someone buys, it's like, this is, this stock is low. It's like, low it is. So Leeds only has a couple spots. Essex, we are offering day passes there, but every time someone buys a two-day pass, we run out of two-day passes. That's how that goes. So because it's a week during the week, because it's not nice, like, you can go to a whole workshop day during the weeks, plus, like, a vacation during the week, so go to opc.me/uk, I've had a ton of people going come do a tour in the UK. I'm like, I am, you guys, I'm coming in September. And we have a ton of our workshops that are happening at these locations. You can even do both locations. There's only like one workshop that overlaps, so opc.me/uk and then we'll come back at a couple weeks later, we go to Chicago for P.O.T., and then we go to Cambodia on our retreat. And it's not too late for you to sign up for our retreat for Cambodia, because we just bought our plane tickets.Brad Crowell 12:11  We just bought our plane tickets, and also we just had another person sign up, you know, so there's still time, absolutely, it's not like, you know, the plane tickets aren't getting overly crazy right now, which is nice. So pop in, come join us. Go to crows nest retreats.com. It's going to be a pretty small group this time, so I'll tell you (inaudible). Lesley Logan 12:11  If you don't like big crowds, it's the time to come, because I can't promise you it'll be a small group every time. In fact, I know 2026 has a ton of people, so you're gonna want to do this one because we'll have more time together. It's a lot of fun, and you can always come a day early or stay a day late.Brad Crowell 12:47  Well, we would encourage you to stay a day late, because we actually have two events that we can't include, quote-unquote, in the retreat. I mean, those events include going to see an elephant sanctuary, yeah. And then the second event is a waterfall excursion. And the reality is they're both just like, like, longer events that we couldn't fit into the flow of the actual retreat. Lesley Logan 13:08  Full day events, and also, like, especially the waterfall, we have to have a smaller group weather permitting, you know, all that stuff. So that's why they're extra so and on the extra days, and we're going to do them before we leave, so you should come, crowsnestretreats.com. Okay, we have a ton to talk about with Wendee, but we have an audience question.Brad Crowell 13:26  We sure do. @BrendaHornung1990 on YouTube asks, can I put a reformer in our garage? I'm in the southeast. So does it, so it does get hot in the summer southeast, probably like Georgia or Florida? I think I'd be more worried about the humidity. Lesley Logan 13:46  Good job, Brad, good job. Brad Crowell 13:48  Unless you've got a Contrology Reformer, which won't, you don't have to worry about the humidity as much. Yeah, there's no wood that's going to warp, right? Lesley Logan 13:55  Correct, because that's the thing. So, so the thing so one, I don't know which Reformer you're looking at that makes a difference. Two, so if you get a Balanced Body Reformer, that's wood, like a studio reformer, you have to worry about humidity for the wood. However, their springs have a coating on them, so you don't have to worry about the springs resting, whereas the Contrology, it's aluminum. And so you don't know. Lesley Logan 14:21  Or an Allegro 2. Lesley Logan 14:22  Yeah, yeah, yeah, you could do that. Brad Crowell 14:22  Allegro 2 is also aluminum. Lesley Logan 14:22  Yeah, so, uh, is it aluminum? I thought it's fiberglass. No, no, it's metal, I know, but is it alluminum, I don't think it's, it's white. Brad Crowell 14:34  Yeah, it's, it's aluminum. It's definitely not, it's not fiberglass. Lesley Logan 14:37  Really? We should (inaudible).Brad Crowell 14:37  It's definitely not fiberglass.Lesley Logan 14:37  Anyway.Brad Crowell 14:37  100% not fiberglass. Lesley Logan 14:37  Well, Brad is gonna, Brad is gonna, it's a prefab. I know that it's like the way they make it, anyways, the Contrology. I have friends who have them in Hawaii.Brad Crowell 14:50  Powder-coated aluminum. Lesley Logan 14:51  Okay, there you go. Brad was paying attention on the tour, not me. Anyways.Brad Crowell 14:57  I've also picked them up. I know what they freaking are. Lesley Logan 14:59  Yeah. So the Contrology, my friend has in Hawaii, and the frame is great. Nothing goes on there. Doesn't even rust, but the springs, well, you have to clean the springs, right? So. Brad Crowell 15:12  That's right. Yeah. I forgot about that. That's great. It's exactly the same, like, environment with humidity.Lesley Logan 15:18  I so I worry more about humidity anywhere. And then when it comes to, just, like, the hotness, I mean, obviously it's gonna pin like, are you gonna want to lay on a hot Reformer bed? Because it's gonna like, like, it's like, sitting on your car when the car's hot.Brad Crowell 15:34  Well, here's the thing, you can actually regulate the temperature inside your garage. Lesley Logan 15:37  Yeah, if you can, yeah, then I would do that. Brad Crowell 15:39  In Cambodia, we have these wall units for, like, air air conditioning. Lesley Logan 15:44  Yeah, I love this idea. We're helping you out, Brenda, so get a wall unit, and then I probably. Brad Crowell 15:49  Yeah, they're called a they're called, there's a specific term for them. What are they called? They're not a window unit. They're a wall unit. Oh, they call it a split, mini split. Lesley Logan 16:03  A mini split. Brad Crowell 16:03  Mini split. So that way, what it does is it actually takes the big air conditioning part of it that, like, you know, is loud and noisy, and it actually is outside, yeah, but then the inside is just a little wall.Lesley Logan 16:15  They're amazing. They're so quiet. The other thing I would just say is, like, I've never experienced this thing. I've never had to purchase one in my life. But a dehumidifier is something you can also purchase. I saw one in Brad's uncle's basement. I was like, what is this thing? He said, a dehumidifier. I'm like, I only know about humidifiers. Clearly, that's where I've lived in the world. So you can have a dehumidifier, and then that would make your equipment last a long time as well. Brad Crowell 16:39  That's true. Lesley Logan 16:40  Just something to note that, like Naugahyde and your leather straps, you know, those things can be affected by the weather. So if, again, if it's hot, cold, like, you're just gonna want to find a way to stabilize the environment a little bit so that it, you can have it for years, because that's all I want to make sure, like, we didn't leave my Reformer around the heat. I think my extra Reformers out in the in the garage for, like, in the shed for like, a year, but it was in a box protected. And then we're like, we got to get that in. That's probably not so great for it. So. Brad Crowell 17:07  Yeah, just because the the Naugahyde will eventually become brittle. Lesley Logan 17:10  I think the leather straps would also become, they would dry out as well because, like, they stay healthy because of the oils of the skin. So anyway.Brad Crowell 17:18  I just also found out that a mini split is, it's called a mini split because it's heating and cooling. Brad Crowell 17:24  Oh, well, there you go. Brenda. Show us the pictures of your garage with your new Reformer in it. Brad Crowell 17:24  You're amazing. Lesley Logan 17:24  You guys. If you want to ask us any questions, they don't have to be about Pilates, they can be about anything. You'll, you just have to go to beitpod.com/questions. You can also send us your wins. We can celebrate you. And you can hear about your wins on a day that you need to because they always happen to land on the day. You're like, my life isn't working. And then you hear a win you had, and you're like, Oh my God, it was, I just forgot.Brad Crowell 17:47  Stick around. We'll be right back. Brad Crowell 17:49  All right. Welcome back. Let's talk about Wendee Close. Wendee is the founder and CEO of Goals2Life, a personal development platform designed to help individuals create and achieve meaningful goals through detailed planning and execution. It's quite a comprehensive platform. It's actually kind of amazing. After 27 years in the B2C industry, she pivoted into the tech world to build a purpose driven SaaS platform aimed at transforming how people bring their aspirations to life. SaaS stands for software as a service. So the like a SaaS platform would be like Gmail or Google Calendar. That's a SaaS platform. In this case, she's making a tool that is software that'll help you bring your aspirations to life for real, known for her resourcefulness and her get it done attitude, Wendee now helps ground people break through burnout and overwhelm by aligning their goals with their values. And I think for her, that was, like, legit, because she was like, doing she and her husband had started a business that could she do it? Yes. Was she really good at it? Yes. Did it light her fire? No. Should she have been doing it? No, right. But she did it for decades, right? And after all that time, and they really did well, she still was like, I kind of don't like what I'm doing, yeah. And so that's what caused the shift to start this platform, you know, effectively starting a second career after her kids have flown the coop. She they're empty nesters now. So, you know, she's, she's definitely tackling a huge project. Lesley Logan 19:30  Bird launcher. Brad Crowell 19:30  She's a bird launcher. Lesley Logan 19:32  Yeah, I like, I know I said on the podcast, if not, I said her face. I am, like, immensely impressed that she has taken on this project because, like, it's so, like, I had no idea what starting OPC like, how much effort it is to have a platform like OPC. Like it is the amount of work we have to do on a daily basis for OPC is the amount of people who work on that site to keep everything. So like, when she was, when she talks, she's like, oh my God, that is the biggest project in the world. Like, I was just like, sitting there, from the experience of it, and she doesn't even see it as difficult. I mean, like, of course there's difficult times, there's hard days, but she always is like, excited for the challenge. And like, she takes it in, and then she figures out who she has to talk to to make it happen. And so anyways, one thing she said that I love, and I think it is why she can do what she's doing and take on this mountain of an amazing business, is when the vision is clear, you become it. So she is like, even though the project is still being built out and it works. She has tons of clients and tons of customers and tons of companies that work with it, but it was something that she's continuing to build and perfect and do. She isn't waiting for it to be ready to go out there and talk about it. She's talking about it because she's it.Brad Crowell 20:54  She's been talking about it, I mean, you know, before it was even ready to go. She understood what she was building, who it was going to help, and was out there sharing it with the world.Lesley Logan 21:04  I mean, if you haven't listened the episode, you have to, because it's truly a Be It Till You See It like it is, she is not waiting for the project to be ready for someone to deem the project ready for anything like that. She's like, I'm going to go out there, I'm going to talk about it and the questions I get and the things people need are going to help me make it even better. And that's what we are always trying to tell people to do inside of Agency as well. She said, when you believe in what you're doing, it becomes, it becomes easy to show up and say, this is who I am and this is what I'm doing. The vision is so strong, you live it. And I think, like, a lot of us, are sitting in the place where she was before in that B2C thing. Maybe you're not B2C but, like, was she good at it? Yes. Can she do it? Yes. It didn't light her up. And so I think a lot of people are struggling with, like, preaching, preaching out loud and and boasting about the thing they're doing because it's not the thing they really want to be doing. So they're not as excited. She is so excited about this. Every time I talk to her, I'm like, excited about what I do. Like, somehow, like, it reminds me this is why I do what I do.Brad Crowell 22:06  She lights everybody on fire. You know, I bet you, too, that all the things that she learned with her first business on, she managed a team. She, you know, worked with clients. She, you know, understood how to do every aspect of that business. There's like a direct translation for what she's doing now, even though it's a different project and a different product and a different goal, the skills she learned from the first one are absolutely setting her up to excel at this in What? What? So much faster, so much faster.Lesley Logan 22:42  Well, and also, like, every single even if the thing you want to do is something you were never trained to do, every skill that you've acquired along your journey is transferable. It's all. Brad Crowell 22:51  Story of my life. Lesley Logan 22:52  Yeah, it's really all so transferable. And there, most of the jobs that I well, the job that I currently have, there's, like, not like a degree in it. So, yeah, like, I think, like, we're all like, where's the checklist to go check? There isn't one. So get your vision clear and then talk about it. Don't be afraid to talk about it, because, just because people question it or and they might not be as excited as you, their questions help you deliver what you do better. You know? When we first started about OPC versus how we talk about it now, very different based on the questions we got from the way we talk about it, you know, like, so.Brad Crowell 23:28  Class starts at six. I think we even said that. I'm sure it was, like, new class on Tuesday. I really loved when she was talking about clarity and resourcefulness and her reminder about it, specifically around asking for help, right? She has no qualms to reach out to people and ask for help. She is very excited about what it is that she's doing, and because she knows what she's building, it gives her enthusiasm, right, and courage. And then when she goes and she asks someone for help, even if they say no, it doesn't matter. It doesn't deflate her enthusiasm. But because she has that, she can ask for help in a way that is compelling people actually want to help her. She said, every single day, I'm like, I don't know how to do the thing that I'm gonna do today. But what do I want to do? I want to impact lives. So she has a bigger goal. Like, for example, the conversation you were having was about going live on Instagram. She's like, I'm not a techie, you know, social media user, but I'm willing to learn this thing, even if I fail at it, if I fall flat on my face. Because if I can go live with someone today, and it's got to further my actual goal, which is impacting people's lives. And she said she just, she encourages everyone to just be, learn to be as resourceful as you can. Right? And she said, if you're honest and transparent about where you are and what you're trying to do, others will help you do it.Lesley Logan 25:03  Yeah, they will. They because they get excited. Because you're excited. People want to be part of the party. People want to be part of, that is how, for better or worse, people get involved in organizations like you know, they want it. I read the book Careless, careless people about Facebook and, oh, guys, it's a book worth, and if I could get her on, I would, but she's not doing any touring right now, but it's she talks about why she got involved with Facebook and why she was pushing for it to be around the world, because she want, she want to be part of the vision of connecting people, yeah, and helping people have all these and I know that's like the worst example, but also like getting so excited about your thing that people get excited to be part of your life, because they'll want to connect with the right people too, whether or not they can help you, like, Oh, I know, so and so. And then they're so excited about what you're doing when they talk about this to their friend, there's a trust transference, and all of a sudden you have the connections you need, you know. So no one gets to get their goals all done by themselves. It just doesn't happen that way. You want to go fast, go alone. If you want to go far, go together.Brad Crowell 26:10  Well, yes, very enthusiastically delivered there. Oh, you mean that old thing. Okay, dad. That's hilarious. All right, well, if you are looking for some, Be It Action Items, stick around, because we're going to dig into those when we come back. Brad Crowell 26:33  Okay, finally, let's dig into those Be It Action Items that we had with our conversation with Wendee Close. What bold, executable, intrinsic or targeted action items can we take away from your convo? I'm gonna go first, because she actually went down all four like, right away, which is pretty awesome.Lesley Logan 26:53  Whenever anyone does that, I'm like, oh, you took the assignment to the next level.Brad Crowell 26:58  She did. She did. She said, hey, here's what's bold, own your next level identity, right? She encourages you to ask, what would my future self do right now, today, in this instance, and then take that action from your future you, right? And she said, that's super bold, you know, like, know where you're going, know what you're trying to do, and then you know, if you're faced with a tough decision, would you, would you choose yourself make decision A or decision B, right? And then she said, executable, take small intentional steps every single day, small intentional steps, right? Breaking down big goals into micro movements. And then ask, what's one step that I can take today, right now, and then go do that step. In fact, that's like half of what Goals2Life is is literally the execution element of it, because what they help you do is map out your goals and then figure out how to do them, actually, how to bring them to life, right? Lesley Logan 27:56  Yeah. You just, that's where the name came from. Brad Crowell 28:00  Goals2Life. That's where the name came from. Intrinsic. Align your goals with your purpose. Align your goals with purpose. She said, What? Ask yourself, why does this even matter to me? Like, if you have a goal of, let's say, doing a 5k race, you know. Why does this matter to you? Why you know do the seven layers of why you know, what is it that you're actually trying to do here? And then, when your goals are tied to your values, your commitment will deepen. So you need to understand what your values are. And then we need to find goals that are going to tie it all together. So, intrinsic. Align your goals with your purpose, targeted, set clear, measurable milestones, replace vague hopes with tangible outcomes. Ask yourself, how will I measure the progress? We would suggest deadlines. Deadlines actually give yourself by this time I will do this thing, you know, or by this time I will, I will have this finished or this piece, piece of it accomplished. Because then it gives you targets. Lesley Logan 29:06  I just talked to Agency members about this. I said, if with, like, you know, we're halfway through the year, right? And it's like, if you reflect on your goals, you wanted to have done this year, what you want to have done by now, and you're like, oh my God, I didn't hit the name. It's like, well, it's, don't beat yourself up, it's ask yourself very clearly, like, why haven't I done this? What has been in the way? Is this actually something I still want to do? Can I actually do it and then set new measurable goals, set new milestones and make it happen? You know? So I believe in those I love a deadline. Brad Crowell 29:35  Love a deadline. Yeah. What about you?Lesley Logan 29:37  Okay, so she said, and this goes back to what I was just saying, so I'll just translate. If something's a priority, if it's a goal, it needs to be on your calendar. And that's where a lot of people make mistakes. They're like, Oh, I'm gonna do this thing, but they don't even set aside time, like in my calendar. If you look at my calendar, it'll say, write this thing, do this thing, call this person. It is in my calendar. So there's not like, Oh, here's my three things I wanna get done today. And. I have a wide open day. No, every single work day is like it's full because I have now, of course, I can move things, if something comes up or whatever, but then it gets moved because if it's in your calendar, you'll reschedule it. So that's what's really important. She said, if it's not in your calendar, it's not a priority. And she didn't mention time blocking. I'm big fan of time blocking. I actually talk a lot about how we teach Agency members how to time block so that they actually move the needle forward in their business. She also said this is really important. She said she was talking about her burnout. She said no amount of movement, water, nutrition or meditation can make up for the lack of sleep, so sleep should be right there at the very top. And I think that is the most important thing. It's something I always talk about. When you come on a retreat to Cambodia, we actually like put your dream schedule together, and the first thing you actually put in there is when do you go to bed, and when do you wake up? It's your dream schedule. It's not your current sleep schedule. It's like what you desire to have as a sleep schedule. And it's the most one of the most important things to do is work towards that, because you cannot, like, biohack your way out of sleep you didn't get. Maybe one day, maybe two days, but you can't do it 365 days. Not gonna happen.Brad Crowell 31:16  Wendee and I definitely connected on that, because both of us just didn't leave ourselves sleep time or permission to sleep. And so, you know, definitely impacted me through college for sure, you know. And even today, you know, it's still a decision to make sure that that is a priority, But yeah, I love it. I mean, you know, Wendee is one of the most magnetic people that you'll ever met. Like when she walks into a room, you know it, whether she meant you to know it or not, you know it. And her enthusiasm for and her vision for her business, for Goals2Life, is contagious. And, you know, I think the product is, it's really amazing, and helping people actually move forward, instead of feeling stuck. And, you know, I'm excited, so y'all should go check it out. Goals2Life. The number two, Goals2Life.com, we'll put that link in the show notes, for sure, yeah. But yeah, if you haven't gone back yet, go listen to Wendee. She's amazing. Yeah, go listen to why we love her so much. Lesley Logan 32:25  Okay, I'm Lesley Logan. Brad Crowell 32:25  And I'm Brad Crowell. Lesley Logan 32:25  Thank you so much for listening to this podcast. How are you going to use these tips in your life? We want to what your favorite takeaways are. We want to also know your questions and your wins. So beitpod.com/questions, I know that's confusing, because if you have a win, you're going to the questions, but I promise you, both columns are there. It's very easy to figure out and share this episode or Wendee's episode with a friend who needs to hear it, because that is how this podcast not only continues to grow, but also helps people be it till they see it. The more people around you that are doing that, the easier it is for you to be till you see it. It's really hard to be around a bunch of Eeyores, guys. So send them. Send them Wendee's. Send them Wendee's episode. And you know what to do. Brad Crowell 33:04  Time to be a Piglet, not not an Eeyore. Lesley Logan 33:06  Be It Till You See It. Brad Crowell 33:08  Bye for now.Lesley Logan 33:10  That's all I got for this episode of the Be It Till You See It Podcast. Muppets From Space was the 95th-highest grossing movie of 1999, opening in 4th place behind juggernauts American Pie, Wild Wild West, and The Phantom Menace. Directed by Tim Hill, the co-developer and longtime director of Spongebob Squarepants (which debuted 3 days later!) and written by longtime Muppet writer Jerry Juhl alongside Joey Mazzarino and Ken Kaufman, Muppets From Space was the third of the 1990s cinematic Muppet revival (following Christmas Carol and Treasure Island) Unlike the two other films released that year, Muppets From Space was an attempt to get back to basics - less music and more mayhem, and not an adaptation of a classic literary work. The results, however, fell flat, and the Muppets would not get another theatrical release for more than a decade. This week, John and Julia talk to author and Muppet fan Ethan Warren about what went wrong and what the future of the Muppets might be.

(0:00:58) Kev: Well, there you go, I guess we were lying somewhere, you know one of these days (0:01:00) Al: Yeah, classic. (0:01:04) Kev: Not days we should do in April fools and switch it up (0:01:07) Kev: Or we talk about I don’t know something else. I guess we kind of do that sometimes but you know something really different (0:01:12) Al: Something, something else. (0:01:14) Kev: Yeah (0:01:16) Kev: We talk about gotcha games, I mean I already do but you know all in oh (0:01:23) Kev: Yeah (0:01:24) Al: Hello. We are going to talk this episode about, I want to have a discussion about remakes. (0:01:25) Kev: Hello listener (0:01:34) Kev: We don’t oh (0:01:34) Al: Specifically remakes of farming games. (0:01:38) Kev: Oh, that’s well hmm. I mean it’s still in the neighborhood like there’s stuff to be discussed for sure (0:01:47) Al: Well, that’s why we’re doing it. (0:01:51) Al: I don’t tend to have topics that I don’t think I’ll have much discussion. (0:01:55) Kev: That is died and I believe that’s factually not true (0:02:00) Al: Wow, how dare, how dare you, how very dare you. (0:02:04) Kev: Oh (0:02:06) Al: Before that, we have a bunch of news, but first of all, Kevin, what have you been up to? (0:02:13) Kev: Okay, let’s see here when I wrote things down (0:02:16) Kev: Okay, Marvel snap. Okay, I should have talked about this earlier because it ended this week, but I mean all snap goes (0:02:22) Kev: It’s good the the new Fantastic Four (0:02:27) Kev: Season with cards based off the movies coming up (0:02:30) Kev: They’re just doing a whole new season like first step family (0:02:34) Kev: First steps whatever but but that’s coming so you know and that looks good (0:02:38) Kev: But I didn’t talk about maximum voltage overdrive or whatever that thing was called (0:02:45) Kev: You played snap outs been a minute. Did you play maximum voltage? (0:02:49) Kev: Do you remember that mode at all? (0:02:50) Al: I think it was around when I was playing, but I don’t think I played it. (0:02:54) Kev: Uh-huh (0:02:56) Al: I did the Deadpool Diner and I did. (0:02:59) Kev: Yeah (0:03:00) Al: There was one other one that I did, but I don’t think I did maximum. (0:03:02) Kev: Okay, so (0:03:04) Kev: So yeah, every once in a while snap introduces these like alternate modes with different rules or different words or whatever (0:03:12) Kev: And so one that they’ve done is called maximum voltage (0:03:16) Kev: and previously maximum voltage was a three-turn game instead of six turns and (0:03:20) Kev: They would give you a random amount like two to four energy every turn like extra so it was you know (0:03:27) Kev: Not just the one two three four (0:03:29) Kev: So you had you could play cards quickly and you had to do on three turns (0:03:34) Kev: It’s a it’s a different pace a game. It’s fun even shorter. I liked it (0:03:41) Kev: Well this past week or two they did maximum voltage overdrive or overcharge whatever’s over something (0:03:50) Kev: Where it was a four-turn game (0:03:53) Kev: The same rules of okay, you get random two to four energy every turn (0:03:59) Kev: on top of what you already have (0:04:02) Kev: But they (0:04:04) Kev: Also filled your deck out with like was it eight or twelve extra random cards in your deck (0:04:10) Kev: Those extra cards had lower costs and higher power (0:04:15) Kev: So it was it was a wild ride because it was a lot of like kind of RNG really right what you get (0:04:22) Kev: It’s hard to build around like, you know real strategy around it (0:04:26) Kev: and you know, I (0:04:28) Kev: I enjoyed it enough. It was fine enough. You know a lot of people don’t like RNG sort of (0:04:34) Kev: modes or strategy so you know I don’t think as popular as other ones but at (0:04:40) Kev: least they tried something right like I always did they say hey try it and then (0:04:43) Kev: we’ll see how it goes but the bigger fiasco was the rewards because when they (0:04:52) Kev: have these side missions they’ll give you usually like a sort of bonus currency (0:04:56) Kev: or side currency or whatever specific for that mode with a shop or reward tier (0:05:01) Kev: or something like that. (0:05:04) Kev: In this case they gave you a shop, you could earn let’s just call them vault points or whatever they were called. (0:05:08) Kev: And so there was a new card in the shop. (0:05:12) Kev: Kid Omega, I don’t know who that character is but they had a decent enough ability. (0:05:16) Kev: But regardless, so yeah, it was a new card and very cool and all. (0:05:24) Kev: But here’s the thing, for the first time ever in one of these side modes, you could not earn the card for free. (0:05:32) Kev: Um… (0:05:34) Kev: Well, I guess you technically could, but… (0:05:36) Kev: So how it works is every eight hours you get a set of three missions, and you get X number of points for it, right? (0:05:44) Kev: Well, people did the math. (0:05:46) Kev: If you did all the missions, every single set of three for every eight hours for the entire duration of the thing, (0:05:52) Kev: you would still have to win 500 games, I think it was, to earn enough points to earn the new card. (0:05:57) Al: That is so many games. (0:06:04) Kev: But… (0:06:04) Al: I don’t think I’ve ever won 500 games combined in the, like, what, combined what, six months (0:06:06) Kev: Yeah, totally. (0:06:14) Kev: I mean, I might be there with you. (0:06:18) Kev: But yeah, so that was wild. (0:06:24) Kev: And a lot of people were up in arms about it, as you can imagine, and I think understandably so. (0:06:30) Kev: Also, because Marvel Snap, traditionally, has been… (0:06:34) Kev: Play-ish where or at least you if you played enough you could get a decent pool of cards or you could get work (0:06:40) Kev: You know the new cards they were releasing if you kept up you could (0:06:45) Kev: You could you could play for free (0:06:48) Kev: the boat the money was either spent on generally speaking on (0:06:55) Kev: Cosmetics, you know variants and bundles (0:06:57) Kev: I guess the season passed you could unlock a new card and that’s ten bucks a month and like that (0:07:02) Kev: But they would drop for free later (0:07:04) Kev: So you didn’t have to do it. But anyways (0:07:08) Kev: Point is that a lot of players feel like the the snap devs are kind of leaning a little more into (0:07:15) Kev: You know pay to win or pay to get the new cards (0:07:19) Kev: So that was a big (0:07:20) Kev: Yeah, big big bit a little bit of fiasco (0:07:25) Kev: and (0:07:26) Kev: Yeah, it’s over now. We went to another mode called sanctum showdown, which is but it’s much slower paced modes fun (0:07:35) Kev: They’re playing it safe. No crazy (0:07:38) Kev: Expensive card or whatever but (0:07:40) Kev: It’s interesting to see (0:07:43) Kev: kind of a shame that they you know, they’re a little money hungry, but (0:07:48) Kev: Cuz though otherwise the game I think is in still in a decent shape (0:07:52) Kev: They’ve released so many cards like I think it’s almost in a state of we can play whatever you want more or less (0:07:59) Kev: But yeah, I mean I’m still playing it. I’m still enjoying it. I did not get the kiddo-megan card (0:08:05) Kev: You know, it’s wild. I saw somebody with that card on day one (0:08:08) Kev: Which means they must have put a lot of money or gold or whatever. Yeah, there’s always an I found the whale. Oh (0:08:08) Al: Hmm there’s always one. There’s always one. Yeah (0:08:16) Kev: Speaking of not having money or wanting money (0:08:20) Kev: Yes, let’s talk about unicorn overlord. So I reached the end of what’s called best stories. That’s the beast land (0:08:30) Kev: Campaign area there’s basically like five countries in the game or whatever and each one is kind of (0:08:34) Kev: Its own little chapter if you will write its own little story and arc and so I reached the end of the best stories chapter (0:08:41) Kev: Which is fine and all the villain was a rat man a rat where rat I guess. I don’t I don’t know how to describe it (0:08:50) Kev: You know, I’ll show you a picture (0:08:52) Kev: but (0:08:53) Kev: And so I enjoyed it. It was a fun chapter. I think the Beast people were cool, but what is funny and (0:09:00) Kev: I can feel it. I learned about this (0:09:04) Kev: When I went online because it felt something felt like it was changing the writing in unicorn overlord who was pretty alright (0:09:12) Kev: Up until around now because they really just kind of did not give the the rat man’s name (0:09:19) Kev: His name was Elgore and he kind of had an interesting story (0:09:23) Kev: The rats were generally oppressed people and he wanted to rise up and then you know, he became a general (0:09:29) Kev: So it’s kind of an interesting story and there was some evil the evil bad guy team (0:09:34) Kev: We’re doing experiments on him yada yada (0:09:38) Kev: But it was really really rushed. And so I kind of looked into it and it turns out (0:09:45) Kev: That oh (0:09:47) Kev: Hold on one second now (0:09:49) Kev: my mic (0:09:51) Kev: Sorry, there we go. Sorry. My mic had a hiccup and I think we’re good now while checking (0:09:57) Kev: double-checking (0:09:58) Al: Sounds fine to me. (0:09:59) Kev: Yes, okay. I lost a few seconds of the recording, but okay. I’m okay (0:10:03) Kev: I don’t know, at least the– (0:10:03) Al: It’s fine now. (0:10:05) Al: Zoom is pretty good at like starting out. (0:10:05) Kev: Yeah, all right (0:10:09) Kev: Well, anyways, so I looked up that why it started feel rushed and turns out that the unicorn (0:10:15) Kev: Overlord development ran out of money and basically the director producer they started funding it out of their own pocket (0:10:22) Kev: so apparently this last (0:10:25) Kev: quarter or so of the the game is gonna feel very rushed and (0:10:30) Kev: There’s no time for story anymore. Which is sad but (0:10:34) Kev: That said the game is still (0:10:38) Kev: Entertaining. I like it. It’s fun. Yeah, like unicorn overlord to two thumbs up from me (0:10:45) Kev: Let’s see (0:10:47) Kev: So yeah, so that’s good. Um, oh, okay follow up from last week (0:10:50) Kev: So we spent a little time having a fun little chat about magic the gathering and capitalism and the $1,000 (0:10:58) Al: Like 20 minutes. (0:10:59) Kev: pack of set of four packs (0:11:02) Kev: and it was all started as you may recall because (0:11:04) Kev: I was looking at the, or you know, the Final Fantasy set of Magic the Gathering cards came out, (0:11:12) Kev: and I did not want to buy them because I didn’t want to spend them, or spend the money for them. (0:11:17) Kev: Well, this week I bought the Final Fantasy card set from Magic the Gathering, virtually, virtually, there’s my caveat, haha. (0:11:26) Kev: Uh, no, I did not spend money, but… yeah, haha, virtual versions of my cardboard. (0:11:27) Al: Oh, wait, that’s that’s even that’s even all right. (0:11:30) Al: I was going to say that’s even worse if you bought digital cards. (0:11:35) Kev: No, no money spent. So I’ve been, I’ve played Magic the Gathering Arena, though that’s the online client. I fired it up to get in there and try. (0:11:43) Al: Good game. I’ve not played in a long time, but when I was playing, I was doing a lot of arenas. (0:11:49) Kev: Alright, it’s good. It feels comparable, I think, to, you know, Pokemon TCG live. (0:11:54) Al: Oh, I think it’s way better. (0:11:56) Al: I think it’s way, way better. (0:11:57) Al: I think the I mean, it’s been a while since I played it. (0:12:00) Al: But in my experience, the app was much less slow in menus and the effects were much better. (0:12:05) Kev: Yeah. (0:12:08) Kev: I agree with that. It is much, much more polished, right, overall. A little fancier. And you’re right, a little less laggy. (0:12:17) Kev: But, yeah, but I mean, the point is, it serves as a decent online, you know, substitute for the paper game. (0:12:26) Kev: So I got some, yeah, Final Fantasy cards there and played a little, doing a choco bow deck. (0:12:33) Kev: I’m really upset (0:12:35) Kev: Those cards are really good, art-wise and gameplay-wise (0:12:42) Kev: They have, because I mentioned I was playing Final Fantasy, the proper FFTCG (0:12:49) Kev: That game doesn’t have equipment cards (0:12:51) Kev: Magic the Gathering does, so Magic the Gathering can include iconic items and weapons (0:12:57) Kev: Like the Buster Sword, or a cup of instant noodles from Final Fantasy XV (0:13:04) Kev: So I’m more…a little… (0:13:05) Kev: I’m jealous that Magic did it so well. (0:13:07) Kev: Whoever…the people working on the Final Fantasy set, they really love Final Fantasy. (0:13:13) Kev: They have Souplex the Train as a card. (0:13:17) Kev: People who know FF5 understand that reference. (0:13:25) Kev: But yeah, I mean, I try to… (0:13:27) Kev: I’m still thinking about it. I’m looking at it. (0:13:31) Kev: The card’s proper. I’m not gonna buy it yet. (0:13:35) Kev: Oh, it’s been…I’ve been craving it. It’s a siren song. (0:13:38) Kev: So I had to…you know…I had to at least do it virtually to enjoy it a little. (0:13:46) Kev: But I digress. That’s what I’ve been up to this week. (0:13:50) Kev: What about you, Al? What’s going on? (0:13:52) Al: Well, let’s see, what have I been up to? (0:13:56) Al: Shock surprise. (0:13:58) Al: I have been playing some Mario Kart World up. (0:14:00) Kev: Yeah, you’re going for it, man. Getting all those knockouts here. I’ve seen your progress. (0:14:04) Al: Yes, so update on that. (0:14:07) Al: I have done all of the Grand Prix’s 150, three stars and all of the knockout (0:14:13) Al: all of the knockout tours, 150, three stars. (0:14:19) Al: and I have done enough in free. (0:14:22) Al: Rome to unlock mirror mode. (0:14:25) Kev: Okay. (0:14:27) Al: And I have unlocked all of the costumes. (0:14:30) Kev: Oh, you’re- you’ve done it all almost pretty much at this point. (0:14:33) Al: I am still missing three characters. (0:14:36) Kev: Wait, wha- oh. How d- uh- uh-huh. (0:14:38) Al: But that’s because they are the Kamek characters, (0:14:43) Al: so you have to be on a specific course (0:14:47) Al: and someone use the Kamek behind you on that specific course. (0:14:50) Kev: Uh, okay, I did notice that I got some kamiks and I think I got kamiks characters out of that. (0:14:53) Al: There’s a chance that you get one that character, so. (0:15:00) Al: Yeah, yeah, yeah. (0:15:01) Al: So I’ve got most of them, but I’m still missing three of them. (0:15:04) Al: And it’s like they are dreadful to try and force like the bet. (0:15:08) Kev: Yeah, who are they? (0:15:10) Al: How who am I missing? (0:15:12) Al: Let me check my spreadsheet. (0:15:14) Al: I am missing Rocky, wrench. (0:15:18) Al: Peepa and Swoop. (0:15:20) Kev: Oof, oof, oh man, I like swoop. (0:15:21) Al: I have the rest of them. (0:15:22) Al: So that’s I have that’s 15 out of 18 characters unlocked (0:15:26) Al: and 103 out of 103 costumes unlocked. (0:15:31) Al: So, yeah, and I’ve got all the vehicles as well. (0:15:36) Al: All 40 of them. (0:15:37) Al: So I am going to I’m definitely going to do. (0:15:40) Al: I’m definitely going to start doing mirror modes. (0:15:42) Al: I really want to restart all the mirror modes (0:15:45) Al: before I get too much muscle memory for specific courses. (0:15:46) Kev: Yeah. (0:15:49) Kev: Mmm. (0:15:50) Al: Right, because that that’s when it becomes really hard. (0:15:52) Kev: Yeah, you’re right. (0:15:53) Kev: That’s an excellent point. (0:15:53) Al: But I’d love I’d love to three star mirror mode (0:15:56) Al: because I’ve never restarted every mirror mode in a Mario cart. (0:16:00) Kev: I mean you’re like there, you’re wide as well, right? You’ve gone the 90%? (0:16:06) Al: Yeah, it’s I guess the thing is it’s just about like time now, right? (0:16:10) Kev: Uh-huh. (0:16:10) Al: Like we’ve got two and a bit weeks until Donkey Kong comes out. (0:16:15) Al: That’s basically my deadline, right? (0:16:15) Kev: I was about to say, that’s the deadline, right? (0:16:17) Al: Like if it’s if I’ve not done it by (0:16:20) Al: Donkey Kong coming out, it’s probably never happening. (0:16:23) Kev: Yeah, well, maybe they’ll release some DLC, but I understand what you generally say. (0:16:28) Al: Yeah, but at that point, I don’t I think at that point I’ll play the DLC, (0:16:31) Al: but I don’t think I’ll go back and try and do the other mirror modes. (0:16:31) Kev: Yeah, it’ll be out of your system, I get it. (0:16:34) Al: Right. (0:16:36) Al: So we’ll see. We’ll see how I feel. (0:16:38) Al: But I’m going to I’m going to at least try and see how far I get. (0:16:42) Al: But obviously it’s quite few and, you know, I can see I should be able to do them. (0:16:47) Al: Right. Because I’ve done one hundred and fifty. (0:16:49) Al: I should be able to do mirror mode. (0:16:50) Al: I don’t think I’m in use to them enough that I will cause problems. (0:16:53) Al: Although maybe there’s a couple of courses that are recreations of previous ones, (0:16:58) Al: like the Mario Bros circuit, which is just like the continuation from the one (0:17:00) Kev: Yeah (0:17:03) Al: and since the sna is- (0:17:06) Al: right? That one might be trouble because I suspect I’ll have muscle memory for that course (0:17:06) Kev: Yeah (0:17:12) Kev: Sure sure (0:17:12) Al: but we’ll see, we’ll see. I’m gonna try and we’ll see how I go (0:17:17) Al: and I think that’s all I was considering. So have you done much free roam? (0:17:22) Kev: Not too much myself now (0:17:25) Al: So you’ve got the P switches, you’ve got peach medallions and you’ve got the question mark blocks. (0:17:27) Kev: Yeah (0:17:29) Kev: Yeah (0:17:32) Al: the only one that’s actually like shown on the map. (0:17:36) Al: The P switches where each course has a certain number of P switches and it shows you how (0:17:38) Kev: Mm-hmm (0:17:40) Al: many you’ve got. So I’m considering doing the P switches, but there’s no way I’m going (0:17:47) Al: to look for all of the peach medallions and all not not P switches sorry the question mark blocks. (0:17:52) Al: It’s not the P switches the question mark blocks. There’s no way I’m going for the piece all the (0:17:56) Al: P switches and all the peach medallions. I’ll probably do some more just playing around in (0:18:00) Al: free roam and if I see some I will do some, but I’m not going to go out my way to get (0:18:04) Al: every day because it’s like (0:18:06) Al: 300 P switches or something it’s mad how many there are I’m not going to do (0:18:08) Kev: Yeah, you don’t want to collect all the Koroks? (0:18:12) Al: all of them definitely not but I can see myself doing all the question mark (0:18:17) Al: blocks just because they’re like clearly like there’s six on this course six on (0:18:22) Al: this course six on this course I could see myself doing that but I’m not I’m (0:18:28) Al: not going all in on that at this point right like we will see (0:18:31) Kev: man. I gotta say the free roam is a little disappointing from what I’ve experienced and (0:18:39) Kev: seen. I was really hoping for, for lack of a better word, secrets, right? Little nooks (0:18:47) Kev: and crannies you could explore that, you know, you wouldn’t experience on a race or whatever, (0:18:52) Al: - Yeah, yeah, yeah. (0:18:53) Kev: right? Like in, you know, shooting for the stars, like even a handful of courses not in any of the (0:19:01) Kev: pre-write, you know, unofficially labeled, like you enter a cave and all of a sudden (0:19:06) Kev: there’s this little racetrack down there. Stuff like that, but anyways, yeah, there’s not much (0:19:12) Kev: going on other than unlocking mirror mode, I guess, on free roam. Although I do like the (0:19:20) Kev: Princess Peach Castle, the window easter egg, that’s fun. (0:19:23) Al: Yeah, yeah, it’s I will agree that I think free roam is a little bit of a disappointment, but yeah, I am still very much having fun. (0:19:35) Al: And I will definitely be playing this with people in person a lot. (0:19:40) Kev: I’m sure. I mean, it’s Mario Kart. It’s built for that. (0:19:41) Al: No, it’s 100% worth. (0:19:44) Al: Yeah, it’s 100% worth it, especially as, you know, it was what, like 30 quid in the bundle, right? (0:19:49) Kev: Yep. (0:19:50) Kev: Exactly. (0:19:50) Al: Like it was very much worth that. (0:19:53) Al: And just, it is, I still stand by it’s the most fun to control the, with the new physics reactions. Like I feel like all the other ones will feel quite stiff going back to them. (0:20:04) Kev: Yeah, yeah, yeah, I don’t think (0:20:10) Kev: Yeah, I yeah, I don’t think a lot of people are gonna push back on that it does feel very good to control (0:20:16) Kev: I agree (0:20:19) Kev: Yeah, it’s it’s I mean it’s Mario Kart right like it’s still gonna be good (0:20:22) Kev: It’s a but it is funny though that you know insert the the Simpsons sheep gif when Donkey Kong bonanza comes out (0:20:28) Al: Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. Definitely. That is going to be like a couple of weeks of just (0:20:34) Kev: Yeah (0:20:37) Al: like that’s the only thing I’m playing. Yeah. And we, has the direct been since we recorded (0:20:39) Kev: It looks so good, I only more (0:20:44) Al: our last episode? I can’t remember. Super fun. I’m so excited for this. I think it’s (0:20:44) Kev: I I can’t remember. We haven’t talked about it either way, but that’s uh (0:20:51) Kev: that’s a (0:20:52) Kev: good looking direct (0:20:53) Al: really, yeah, I think they, that was a great direct because it shows (0:20:58) Al: it kind of confirmed a bunch of the stuff we already knew while also giving us enough (0:21:03) Al: to be like, oh, there’s more. Right. And, and I think it’s really, I think it’s really (0:21:09) Al: good looking. Like I love the different effects that you get in transforming into other animals (0:21:16) Al: and also having Pauline basically be like a parrot on your shoulder. Right. It’s really (0:21:22) Kev: yep it’s it’s so good I i love the online reaction that we the internet gave of like you (0:21:23) Al: fun. (0:21:30) Kev: know the trifecta of uh was it ralph and vanellope uh sully and boo and now we’ve got dk and pauline (0:21:38) Kev: you know big guy and then little girl um it’s it’s fun (0:21:38) Al: Look, it works, right? Like why, why break it? Why try and fix it if it’s not broken, (0:21:47) Kev: Exactly. It’s great. Um, yeah, I’m I’m very pumped. Uh, (0:21:52) Kev: for uh uh the the game or general, I guess. Um, it’s I’m a (0:21:59) Kev: little disappointed that we don’t get the animal buddies (0:22:02) Kev: per se. I mean, I know Rambi’s in there and and it’s kind of (0:22:06) Kev: in there, but you know, it’s it’s the functions been replaced (0:22:09) Kev: by your transformations and the transformations are cool. I (0:22:12) Kev: won’t lie. Um but uh I don’t know. I’m a guy who likes Rambi. (0:22:17) Al: Well, look, I don’t have any real history with the previous DK games other than trying them and not enjoying them. (0:22:23) Al: So I don’t particularly mind. (0:22:27) Al: I’m not a lower muncher. (0:22:30) Kev: Sure, I mean, it’s not even like lore stuff because that’s uh, that’s just uh, you know, I guess mechanics or (0:22:38) Kev: Gameplay traditions, whatever. But if you want to talk about lore, I mean we can get trying to you know (0:22:43) Kev: We can try figure out why on earth (0:22:48) Kev: Does how is Pauline hanging out a DK? How does that timeline work? (0:22:52) Al: Well, I think everything lines up if you just ignore the original DK game. I don’t think (0:22:59) Al: anything else is a problem. I think it’s only that. And I think that this ties in so much (0:23:00) Kev: Yeah. Which… (0:23:05) Al: better to Odyssey, because why would Pauline be the mayor of a city that’s named after (0:23:11) Al: her kidnapper? But she would be the mayor of a city that’s named after her hero. (0:23:12) Kev: Yeah, I like the way you think there that’s a good point, yeah, but and also like this (0:23:28) Kev: is even more so than Odyssey cuz I mean Paulina was in there was you know, she’s first time (0:23:32) Kev: back in forever or whatever but she’s you know, she has a starring role finally, that’s (0:23:40) Al: Yeah, my I also I have another theory that it might be time (0:23:47) Kev: All right, oh well there you are now we’re talking let’s get into that Zelda split timeline (0:23:55) Al: Well, I don’t even think it needs to be a split timeline, right? (0:23:58) Al: Like, if something happens and she gets shot forward and then she goes back in time after this, (0:24:04) Kev: Oh, I like it. I like. (0:24:05) Al: you know, she could still go through the whole thing, because the thing is, right, (0:24:09) Al: Pauline in Donkey Kong, that’s not this Donkey Kong, that’s Cranky Kong. (0:24:14) Kev: that is cranky kong who does exist yeah oh I like that that’s clever yeah there you go all right I like it (0:24:15) Al: So, you know, she’s obviously from the past. (0:24:22) Al: Or, or, here’s another suggestion. (0:24:25) Al: If Donkey Kong, if Donkey Kong and Cranky Kong are both Donkey Kong, then maybe Pauline. (0:24:32) Al: This could be a different Pauline. Maybe this is Pauline’s daughter. (0:24:35) Kev: You know, I mean, that’s well established, right? Bowser Jr. looks just like Bowser when he’s a baby, I guess, so you know. (0:24:45) Al: Pauline Jr. (0:24:46) Kev: Pauline Jr. could be! (0:24:49) Kev: Although, okay, you know what? You know what? I’ll even point the bat at the stands here. (0:24:54) Kev: I bet we get little Pauline here as a character in Mario Kart World War 2. (0:24:58) Al: I hope so. I do hope there is some stuff coming, so I saw someone note that some of the characters (0:25:06) Al: have lots of costumes, and some of them have almost none. In fact, some of them have none. (0:25:11) Al: And the interesting thing is, one of the characters that has almost none is Donkey Kong. He only (0:25:12) Kev: Yeah. (0:25:16) Al: has one costume. Just before a Donkey Kong game comes out, suspicious. So are we interested (0:25:17) Kev: It is very strange considering, you know, he’s… (0:25:21) Kev: Uh-oh, uh-oh! (0:25:28) Al: in a Mario Kart World update coming with some Donkey Kong costumes to encourage you (0:25:34) Kev: I mean (0:25:36) Al: to be interested in the new game? Maybe. Yeah. And we obviously have all the baby characters, (0:25:37) Kev: If if it feels like the most obvious dough in the world, right, um, so yeah (0:25:46) Al: so would we get a young Pauline, as well as the babies that we’ve got of the other characters? (0:25:48) Kev: I like it (0:25:51) Kev: How cute (0:25:51) Al: We don’t have Pauline at all. Oh no, we do have Pauline. But also Pauline only has one (0:25:53) Kev: We do it, Paul (0:25:58) Kev: Like a generic racer costume, so there you go (0:25:58) Al: costume. So, you know, the two of them, both in an upcoming game. You know, I will be very (0:26:05) Kev: Yeah, yeah, yeah (0:26:09) Al: disappointed if there’s not. But this makes you wonder what else could be related to things, (0:26:11) Kev: I you know that’s I don’t think you’re being unreasonable (0:26:16) Al: right? Birdo only has two costumes, so that’s an interesting one. Could there be a Birdo (0:26:22) Al: thing coming up? Who knows? Lakitu only has two costumes, and there is an update to… (0:26:28) Al: Why can’t I remember the name? Goodness me. Mario Party. Which Lakitu obviously has a (0:26:34) Kev: Which Mario what okay? (0:26:40) Al: big part in Mario Party. Maybe I’m stretching at this point. Who knows? But we’ll see. I’m (0:26:41) Kev: Yeah (0:26:48) Kev: We we will see I think that’s the end that’s all we can kind of say really um (0:26:54) Al: I’m sure we can say much more, but let’s not. (0:26:56) Kev: Well, well, okay, yeah, you know, I will say this like each his legs still make me very uncomfortable. I (0:26:59) Al: Fair, very fair. (0:27:03) Kev: Don’t like it (0:27:05) Kev: Get in the car. Don’t look at those freak. Yeah, no, no, I don’t like it. That’s (0:27:08) Al: Don’t put him on a bike. (0:27:15) Al: He should be in the cloud cart. (0:27:19) Al: That’s the only one he’s allowed to be in. (0:27:20) Kev: Yeah, you really or you know, I don’t care I (0:27:23) Al: No, I’m just saying. (0:27:26) Kev: Look, I don’t care if it’s like (0:27:29) Kev: Horrendous I don’t care if it’s horrendous like animation clipping just (0:27:35) Kev: Just stick the the dang (0:27:36) Al: The cloud around every cart you put them in. (0:27:40) Kev: Yeah, yeah, when he’s the bike it’s just clipping right to the cloud (0:27:45) Kev: Okay, you make it it’s worth it (0:27:50) Al: All right, so that’s my car. (0:27:52) Al: I’ve also I don’t want to talk too much about this, but I do want to mention it. (0:27:58) Al: I’ve opened Lens Island again and started playing that. (0:28:02) Al: So for context, I originally backed on. (0:28:06) Al: Kickstarter and I started playing it when it first came out, but it had no controller (0:28:11) Al: support and basically was horrible to use on the steam deck. (0:28:16) Al: So I have started playing it again, and it is less horrible to play on the steam deck. (0:28:24) Kev: But that’s always the bar we want less horrible (0:28:25) Al: And I think that’s as far as I’m going to go on this comp on it just now. (0:28:33) Al: I will probably go into it a lot more in the next. (0:28:36) Al: episode, probably, but no promises. (0:28:38) Kev: Okay, fine. Okay. (0:28:43) Al: So that is a thing that is currently happening that I am not going to give any opinions on right now. (0:28:52) Al: But finally, we are recording this on Saturday, the 28th of June. (0:28:57) Al: I have just finished the first day of Pokémon Go Fest 2025 Global. (0:29:01) Kev: Oh, is that what’s going on? Okay. (0:29:03) Al: That’s what’s today. (0:29:04) Al: Yeah. So, uh, I had. (0:29:06) Al: Fun. I got a few hours where I was allowed to remove my (0:29:14) Al: responsibilities from children and just go play Pokemon in Edinburgh. (0:29:17) Al: And yeah, I got a good amount of stuff done and I enjoyed that. (0:29:20) Kev: Cool. What is going on? What are they releasing? (0:29:24) Al: This is the Crowned in Shield form Zacian and Zamazenta. (0:29:30) Kev: Wait they weren’t in there already that’s weird, but okay (0:29:32) Al: No, they had the base forms, but not this Crowned in Shield form. (0:29:37) Al: Uh, because they’ve got to release them separately to make the most money, right? (0:29:42) Kev: - Oh, yeah, yeah. (0:29:46) Al: But yeah, so, uh, yeah, I think they did this one a lot better than the previous (0:29:52) Al: other forms, because with Curum and with, uh, oh, what’s the other one? (0:29:59) Kev: Uh, uh, uh, Nick Asma. (0:30:03) Al: Nick Rosma, thank you. (0:30:05) Al: with both of them. (0:30:06) Al: You have a certain amount of energy you need to get to fuse them, but if you separate (0:30:15) Al: them, you have to use the same amount of energy again to fuse them again. (0:30:21) Al: It’s like a thousand-fuse energy, or whatever they call it. (0:30:25) Al: I can’t remember and I don’t care. (0:30:26) Kev: Yeah, that’s correct (0:30:29) Al: Once you fuse them, you use up that thousand, but you get like a hundred per raid that you (0:30:33) Al: do. (0:30:34) Al: raids to get enough defuse once (0:30:35) Kev: Okay (0:30:36) Al: set of them. And then if you’re like, “Oh, I fused the wrong one”, and you unfuse it, (0:30:37) Kev: Yeah, oh (0:30:42) Al: you then have to do another 10 raids to do it. But of course, those raids were only available (0:30:45) Kev: It sounds like a lot (0:30:48) Al: for one weekend. They’ve never been available again, so you can’t get the energy anymore. (0:30:55) Al: It’s dreadful! (0:30:56) Kev: That sounds like a lot. (0:30:58) Al: Well, the good thing is that Zamasenta and Zacian, once you turn it into crown form, (0:31:04) Al: If you revere its form, you can… (0:31:06) Al: you can then do it again without using any energy. (0:31:09) Kev: Sure, okay. Okay, I mean, that’s that’s definitely nice. I just, man, I just got to say I didn’t go that long at all. But hearing how like, because I think Megas were kind of the first one where you had, you know, special mega energy or whatever. Like, it’s, oh, it doesn’t sound great. Just the oddest. (0:31:33) Al: The the Megas actually I think is a lot better than it was when it first launched. (0:31:38) Al: So like you you can get one free mega for each of your mega Pokemon once a week. (0:31:45) Al: So once you’ve done the initial one, every week, you can do it once for free. (0:31:49) Al: You only have to pay more energy after the first one (0:31:53) Al: if you want to do it faster than that. (0:31:55) Al: And as you get up the power, like once you can level up the mega and once you get (0:32:00) Al: Mega level 3. It matters. (0:32:04) Al: How much it costs so like every if you were to do it every single day, you wouldn’t be using a huge amount of energy so it’s it’s not it’s it’s much better than it was initially launched and I get why you know it is a bit frustrating that you still have to use it energy at all but it’s a lot less annoying you also get energy if you walk with them as a buddy and stuff like that so you know it’s it’s fine it’s fine it’s these fusing ones that are the most annoying because it’s like. (0:32:33) Al: I know have my necrosimas and my cutums fused and I can never unfuse them because I would never be able to fuse them again right like it’s just that’s it if you chose the wrong one tough and it’s really annoying because one of them I did choose the wrong one and but there’s nothing I can do about that I’m stuffed and that’s just what I have to live with. (0:32:40) Kev: Mm-hmm. Mm-hmm. (0:32:46) Kev: Oh, no! (0:32:50) Kev: Ugh. (0:32:52) Kev: Oh, that’s rough. That’s rough, buddy. (0:32:53) Al: Still. Yeah, that is life but yeah so there’s actions Amazon to was done much better and I got shiny. (0:33:03) Al: And I got my energy and I’ve I’ve powered them up so nice powerful Pokemon looking looking great my shiny shield was it shield form kind of what it’s called and they have new adventure effects so. (0:33:04) Kev: Yeah! (0:33:10) Kev: Yeah, that’s the game! (0:33:18) Kev: That’s cool, that’s good. (0:33:19) Al: There we go. (0:33:22) Al: And they can also be used because they’re when they’re in that form they can be used at power spots, which normally only dynamics Pokemon can be used a pair of spots, but of course you can’t you can’t. (0:33:33) Al: And they can also be used in Dynamax session and Amazon to but when they’re in that form you can use them a pair of spots so that’s fun. (0:33:44) Al: So yeah, I probably do a little bit tomorrow as well because it was Amazon to things action tomorrow, but which is a bit annoying, but if you got the ticket for go fest you do get enough energy to do one of one of the dogs, so I do have enough to do as action, but I probably want to get enough to do another one. (0:34:02) Kev: Sure. Well, I am glad that you’re enjoying it. (0:34:03) Al: Continuing to enjoy Pokemon go despite everything. (0:34:07) Kev: I don’t… (0:34:11) Kev: This, well, that’s kind of, uh, I mean, that’s just a blanket save these days. (0:34:20) Al: They keep trying to ruin the game, but I still somehow enjoy it. (0:34:24) Al: All right, let’s talk about some game use a woo. (0:34:31) Kev: Oh, wait, wait, back up. (0:34:32) Kev: I’m sorry, I just– (0:34:33) Kev: I don’t know why you just clicked something in my mind. (0:34:34) Kev: I forgot. (0:34:35) Kev: I want to follow up my Magic the Gathering thing. (0:34:39) Kev: So as I look, you know, I was dipping my toe in the MTG pool. (0:34:44) Kev: Guess what’s the next secret layer? (0:34:45) Al: I don’t know. (0:34:46) Kev: You know me. (0:34:48) Al: Ah, ah, ah, pressure, um, unicorn over the light! (0:34:53) Kev: Haha, oh, oh, that’d be so (0:34:54) Al: No, ah, no, um, let’s see, so Kevin, something Kevin would like. (0:34:59) Al: Well, it’s not going to be like anything Nintendo. (0:35:02) Kev: No, no it’s just very funny hearing that. (0:35:04) Al: Wait, is it? (0:35:06) Al: No. (0:35:08) Kev: I didn’t intend, I didn’t intend, life log Nintendo Pass. (0:35:09) Al: Well. (0:35:12) Kev: You don’t like Nintendo things, um, but it won’t, uh, MTG, I gotta say, it wouldn’t be (0:35:15) Al: I mean, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, that’s the opposite of what I thought, Kevin. (0:35:19) Kev: in there. (0:35:20) Kev: Yeah, okay. (0:35:21) Kev: Yeah, okay, yes, yeah, I know what you’re saying, but the way it came in my ears, it’s (0:35:21) Al: What I thought was, oh yeah, it could be, you know, you like Nintendo stuff. (0:35:25) Al: And I was like, oh no, but they’re not going to do something with Nintendo. (0:35:27) Al: That was my point. (0:35:30) Kev: It’s not too funny. (0:35:31) Al: Trying to accuse me. (0:35:32) Al: Accuse me of not thinking you like Nintendo stuff. (0:35:34) Al: Ah, no, I’ve not got anything. (0:35:39) Al: Nothing’s coming. (0:35:40) Kev: Ow! The lowest hanging fruit! Gotta go fast! (0:35:44) Al: Oh, Sonic. (0:35:45) Al: What? They’re doing Sonic, Magic the Gathering? (0:35:47) Kev: They’re doing- okay. (0:35:49) Kev: Yeah! Dude, they already did SpongeBob! Who cares? (0:35:53) Al: What? This is what one out all these cards look so good. (0:35:54) Kev: Oh, you missed that! SpongeBob’s in magic! Oh, yeah! (0:36:02) Kev: Don’t they? (0:36:03) Al: Oh, no. Oh, no. (0:36:04) Kev: They look- that’s- that’s the exact reaction. (0:36:10) Al: I don’t want this. Well, no, I do want this. (0:36:14) Kev: And you- and- oh, my- like, Shadow- (0:36:15) Al: I managed to not even look at the Doctor Who and Lord of the Rings ones somehow. (0:36:18) Kev: Oh- oh, yeah. (0:36:20) Kev: Shadow looks busted. It’s insane. (0:36:24) Kev: They’re no big the cats, so point against them for that. No cream, either. (0:36:28) Kev: But overall, it’s- it’s in their- (0:36:31) Kev: Ugh, Sonic’s ability, ‘cause you know, when they have an ability, they have a little, like, name for it. (0:36:36) Kev: It- it’s literally “Gotta go fast.” (0:36:38) Kev: You know “Gotta go fast” isn’t even from the games. (0:36:40) Kev: It’s just from the, uh, the- the dub intro of an anime. [Laughter] (0:36:45) Al: Yeah, I’m not particularly surprised. (0:36:48) Kev: Oh, yeah, Sonic’s going to magic. (0:36:50) Kev: It’s- ugh. I don’t like it. I’m- I’m- I’m- oh, dear. I’m cooked, as the children would say. (0:36:58) Kev: You know, Unicorn Overlord, it- wild as it- it’s not in Magic the Gathering, but in- they have one of those- (0:37:04) Kev: What is it? I think it’s, like, the Overlord edition. You know, one of the big fancy collector’s editions. (0:37:08) Kev: There’s actually a whole (0:37:10) Kev: building card game inside that it’s wild (0:37:16) Kev: Yeah, card games are my vice. They’re my legal addiction. Sonic’s coming to magic (0:37:16) Al: And will this be coming and will this be coming to arenas? (0:37:28) Kev: uh good question I don’t know arena is very weird because arena has (0:37:39) Kev: arena is kind of its own environment it has exclusive arena cards it has its own formats (0:37:45) Kev: and i’ll tell you the the bad ones we’re getting a spider-man set in a few months (0:37:51) Kev: that the spider-man set cards are coming to arena but not with spider-man full (0:37:58) Kev: they’re going to replace them with whatever generic magic card characters or whatever (0:38:02) Al: What? What does that even mean then? (0:38:05) Kev: it means they didn’t get the license to use it digitally (0:38:07) Al: What would be the point in adding the cards then, if they’re not the cards? (0:38:11) Al: So they’re gonna have like the same effects, but not use any names for Spider-Man. (0:38:14) Kev: yeah yeah you you get yeah you get pied or arachnid avatar I don’t know (0:38:18) Al: That’s so stupid. (0:38:20) Al: Just don’t do it. (0:38:28) Kev: uh good old magic together I i joined just this year what a good time to get into this game (0:38:36) Al: Update, I have downloaded Magi the Gathering Eraser. (0:38:39) Kev: yeah oh we gotta play some games um all right let’s go to non sonic base oh or is there (0:38:44) Al: Yes, yeah, news, game news. No, no, no, no, there’s obviously not. Research story have (0:38:47) Kev: is there sonic base news maybe not yet one day it’s inevitable (0:38:56) Al: announced that their 1.0 is coming the 21st of July, so it has been a long time coming. (0:39:00) Kev: Okay (0:39:02) Al: Let’s see, when did this first come into Early Access? February 2023 was when this launched (0:39:04) Kev: Yes, oh wait research, so I don’t know I heard something else okay that that is exciting (0:39:11) Al: in early access. (0:39:12) Kev: Research work takes forever to ask Cody. That’s why the 1.0. It’s it’s forever (0:39:14) Al: So, maybe we need to get our second harvest on this after the 1.0 is out. (0:39:18) Kev: It’s the equivalent of getting their PhD congratulations research story (0:39:23) Kev: I’m sure Cody isn’t triggered by this at all (0:39:31) Kev: Okay, so wait we got let’s see what is the date on the oh July 21st there (0:39:38) Kev: It is but it’s available on the on a beta branch. That’s weird. What do you mean? (0:39:43) Kev: 1.0 will be available in beta before one point (0:39:45) Al: No, no, that’s so. So that’s before launch, you’ll be able to play the beta. (0:39:48) Kev: Yeah, I know that that’s very weird to me like (0:39:52) Al: Well, OK, I see what you mean. I see what you mean. I see what you mean. So (0:39:57) Al: it’s not actually that uncommon in software development where you go, this is our beta for (0:40:05) Al: 1.0 or 1.1 or whatever. That is not that uncommon, actually. I think it’s less common in games, (0:40:07) Kev: Sure. Yeah. Sure. And I mean, like, you know, public betas and test servers, (0:40:12) Al: But it’s definitely something that you see quite a lot. (0:40:18) Kev: like they’re common and I’m not saying it’s unheard of, but I don’t know. (0:40:21) Kev: It just feels weird, especially in game dev, like the 1.0 is the big fitting, right? (0:40:25) Kev: So, uh, I don’t know, but whatever, um, but hey. (0:40:28) Al: You still have to pop the game you can’t just play it’s not just anybody can play it like it’s public (0:40:33) Kev: Yeah. (0:40:34) Al: But public for people who have paid for the game, right? (0:40:37) Kev: That’s true. Good point. (0:40:40) Kev: All right. But hey, it’s here. (0:40:42) Al: Tiny garden the content the (0:40:45) Al: Featured game of last week’s episode have released a statement regarding the Nintendo switch version (0:40:52) Kev: I didn’t think I’d ever hear a statement from Tiny Garden. (0:40:56) Al: This is this is great. I’m just (0:40:58) Al: going to read some of the statement because I don’t think I can really (0:41:01) Al: summarize it better than they have done. “We wanted to clarify some questions (0:41:06) Al: that have arisen regarding the Nintendo Switch version of Tiny Garden. We have (0:41:09) Al: been vague and perhaps not communicated with you as well as we could have, for (0:41:14) Al: which we apologize. We did not want to cause you unnecessary concern or bore (0:41:18) Al: you with technical details. The truth is that the Switch version of Tiny Garden (0:41:23) Al: will be ported by an external company. As we are such a small team it was very (0:41:28) Al: hard for us to do everything in-house. The problem here is we’ve not yet found a (0:41:32) Al: company that can port the game with the polish and quality that we feel (0:41:35) Al: comfortable with. Both our publishers Super Rare Games and us want to deliver (0:41:40) Al: the best possible version of Tiny Garden on Switch. However, we did not (0:41:43) Al: anticipate that this porting would be so complicated.” Hey, I could have told you. (0:41:48) Al: We’ve seen this before. (0:41:50) Kev: What are you talking about? (0:41:52) Kev: It’s katrossi katronfi, it’s fuckies! (0:41:56) Al: And then they go into details about complaining. (0:41:58) Al: About their game engine and that’s the reason. (0:42:02) Al: Sure, fine. (0:42:05) Al: It’s funny because it’s like, oh no, we didn’t know it would be complicated to bring it to a (0:42:10) Al: console. Like what did you expect? Like these things are always complicated. (0:42:14) Kev: Well, yeah, I mean anything game dev is complicated pretty much anything dev software dev is always complicated (0:42:19) Al: Yeah, exactly. (0:42:21) Kev: Well, look here. Here’s your free advice tiny garden people call biting studio (0:42:27) Kev: Those are the guys who make cassette beasts that except beasts is on Godot. They brought it to switch (0:42:32) Kev: It’s awesome on switch. There you go (0:42:33) Al: Yeah, yeah, yeah, that’s the thing. I suspect if you do it in Unity or Unreal, I suspect (0:42:42) Al: it is slightly easier because they are obviously like larger companies use them and so therefore (0:42:51) Kev: They’re established. (0:42:53) Al: need the console support to be as good as it can be, right? Because otherwise there (0:43:00) Al: There would be big problems because Godot is. (0:43:04) Al: open source and therefore more likely to be used by smaller teams, and they are less likely to be focusing on consoles at all more likely to be focusing on just PC because that is the easiest for. (0:43:18) Kev: Uh-huh (0:43:18) Al: I mean, it’s just the easiest to develop for full stop right because there’s no gatekeeper right like that has has been the case for a long, long time. (0:43:20) Kev: Yeah, I mean yes, yes, that’s correct (0:43:26) Kev: And probably will always be the case because just the nature of the beast so yeah (0:43:28) Al: Exactly. (0:43:29) Al: Exactly. (0:43:30) Al: Exactly. (0:43:31) Al: So there’s, they’re probably simplifying. (0:43:33) Al: Things in what they’re saying, you know, these things happen. (0:43:40) Al: I would like to clarify again, please, if you’re backing a game on Kickstarter, if you (0:43:47) Al: want it for console, don’t back it on Kickstarter, right? (0:43:50) Al: Like just, just like it’s the console is always like, it is when the Kickstarter happens normally, (0:43:59) Al: the way that it is happened is there is a working version of the game. (0:44:03) Al: It may not be final. (0:44:04) Al: It may not have all the content, but they have a game and it can run on PC. (0:44:08) Al: There will be nothing running on console at that point. (0:44:11) Al: And it’s very likely, unless they are a team that have ported to console before, it’s very (0:44:16) Al: likely that they have no idea what they’re doing with consoles at all, right? (0:44:20) Kev: Yep. (0:44:21) Al: And this, this isn’t meant to be harsh on them. (0:44:24) Al: This is just a fact that if you have, if you’re not a console developer, you do not know how (0:44:29) Al: complicated it is. (0:44:30) Al: I am not a games developer, right? (0:44:33) Al: I’m a web developer. (0:44:34) Al: And even in web development, there are things that if you don’t know how it works, it is (0:44:38) Al: so much more complicated than you realize. (0:44:42) Al: And there are just certain things that are more awkward. (0:44:45) Al: And if you haven’t started development on it, you don’t know how complicated it is. (0:44:49) Al: And it is likely not going to be done until the game is finished. (0:44:52) Al: That’s the other thing, right? (0:44:55) Al: Even Stardew Valley still doesn’t get updates out day and date on console, right? (0:45:00) Kev: Yeah. (0:45:01) Al: and stardew valley (0:45:03) Al: is one of the biggest indie games, full stop. (0:45:06) Kev: Yeah. (0:45:07) Al: It’s not like he’s only on his own anyway. He has a team that he works with, he worked with (0:45:12) Kev: Nice. (0:45:12) Al: porting companies before, he has done many different things, and even he can’t do it. (0:45:20) Al: It takes so much work, even big companies struggle with that. (0:45:26) Al: It is rare for a game to come out at the same time on PC and console unless you are one of (0:45:31) Al: of the biggest games and they will. (0:45:34) Al: Completely different teams working on the PC version, working on the switch version, working on the PlayStation version Xbox is different because they’re like the Microsoft of well, pretty much Microsoft have done so much work and I, you know, I’m the first to jump on Microsoft a bad bandwagon, but Microsoft have done so much work to make putting games to Xbox so incredibly easy it’s not. It’s still not just as simple as click a button. It does. (0:45:36) Kev: Mm-hmm (0:45:41) Kev: Yeah (0:45:44) Kev: They are a PC (0:46:03) Al: It does it, but it is so much easier than any other console. If you have an existing PC game, especially if you’re using the tools that Microsoft give to make the game on PC. (0:46:07) Kev: Sure. Yeah. Well, I mean, guess. Hi. Hey, I’m still holding out for mighty number nine (0:46:15) Al: All that being said, all that being said, never back a Kickstarter for a switch game. Just don’t do it, right? (0:46:25) Kev: on the 3DS. Uh, but. (0:46:31) Al: I have, I have, when I, when I bought my steam. (0:46:33) Al: Dick, it was so good because it meant that I could go through and like change (0:46:37) Al: all of my kickstarters to use to steam codes instead of switch get codes. (0:46:41) Kev: Mmm, yeah, at least (0:46:41) Al: And you get the game a year before, right? (0:46:44) Al: It’s just every, every, every single one is there’s none of them. (0:46:49) Al: Not a single game that I have backed on Kickstarter has released (0:46:53) Al: on switch at the same time as steam. (0:46:54) Kev: year you’re not wrong not at all ah well you know what though in this (0:47:03) Kev: particular case there’s an easy way to fix this you know what you don’t even (0:47:07) Kev: have to release on the switch tiny garden just so you know what we’re (0:47:11) Kev: canceling it we’re investing everything into the playdate port and we’re all in (0:47:12) Al: Honestly, a Playdate port would probably be quicker, because it would have to lose features, (0:47:17) Kev: we’re good all is forgiven (0:47:24) Al: right? It’s not going to be the same, the graphics are simpler, like honestly, if they started now (0:47:31) Al: from scratch, they could probably get a Playdate version out before they could port their version (0:47:34) Kev: Well, well there you go, Tiny Guard. The path is there. (0:47:34) Al: to Switch. I’m not joking. They would of course get a fraction of the sales, right? There are (0:47:42) Al: Playdates. Yes, it does. I love the Playdate, it’s so good. I just wish I played it more. (0:47:44) Kev: the dozens look I mean I might join the dozens I’ll say that (0:48:00) Kev: Yeah (0:48:05) Al: As far as I can see, the only number I’ve seen on Playdate sales was in May of last year, (0:48:10) Al: They said 70,000 have been sold (0:48:12) Al: But that was one year into it, and we’re now a year later, so who knows

In this episode – recorded prior to Trump's announcement of a ceasefire between Iran and Israel – Calvin and Alex unpack the alarming reality of US strikes on Iran, recently announced by President Trump on June 21, and the ensuing escalation of tensions between the US, Israel, and Iran. We situate these recent events within decades of neoconservative influence and prior escalations, including the 2020 assassination of Qasem Soleimani by US Forces (which we covered back in Episode 31), as well as Israel's “pre-emptive” strikes against Iran in 2024 and earlier in June 2025.We historicize the current conflict by highlighting the success of the 2015 Iran Nuclear Deal (JCPOA) in preventing escalation, contrasting it with Trump's abandonment and the Democrats' failure to defend it, and debunk media narratives about Iran's nuclear ambitions, confirming Iran's compliance with the Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT). We then dissect the propagandistic pro-war rhetoric that has been employed most recently, such as Trump's bizarre Truth Social posts announcing the "very successful attack," and exposing the dangerous slippages between US and Israeli foreign policy, evidenced by Senator Ted Cruz's admissions on a recent episode of Tucker Carlson's show. Finally, drawing on rhetorical scholars such as Jeffrey Tulis and Gordon Mitchell, we explore the libidinal urges driving contemporary presidential rhetoric and US war policy, and how intelligence is manipulated through "Team B intelligence coups," raising concerns about reliance on foreign intelligence like the Mossad. We conclude with a resolute call (echoing our earlier episode) for "No war with Iran," urging public dissent against these increasingly reckless and dangerous decisions.Works and concepts cited in this episode:Curtis, A. Send us a textWhen I say the word 'imagination' what comes to mind first? What age were you when you last used your imagination? I mean used it and then bragged about your skills to someone else? Were you a kid in school?I think of SpongeBob, shaping his hands into a rainbow saying slowly, "Imagination!"  What if I told you it's not just the stuff of childhood? In fact, it may be a superpower. It is definitely a bridge between an idea and reality.Let's get into it.Imagination 101Middle English: via Old French from Latin imaginatio(n- ), from the verb imaginari ‘picture to oneself', it is the ability of the mind to be creative or resourceful. This root definition of the term indicates the self-reflexive property of imagination, emphasizing the imagination as a private sphere.Google charts the use of the word 'imagination' and its low point, the time when it was least used? The early 1980s was the low point of the use of the word imagination, followed closely by 1944. Wow.Singularity Hub dot com asks this;" You can easily picture yourself riding a bicycle across the sky even though that's not something that can actually happen. You can envision yourself doing something you've never done before—like water skiing—and maybe even imagine a better way to do it than anyone else."They continue, "Imagination involves creating a mental image of something that is not present for your senses to detect, or even something that isn't out there in reality somewhere. Imagination is one of the key abilities that make us human. But where did it come from?"Show Sources & Materials (Interesting stuff to read, listen or watch NEXT) The Magic of Trees, Curious Cat Podcast, iHeart RadioDream! Dream! Dream! (0:03:32) Codey: or whatever, which is a little silly, because we kind of already know it’s gonna happen. But at the (0:03:37) Kev: Mm-hmm. (0:03:38) Codey: same time, like, I’m not gonna say no to being hampered for a moment or something. So, but no, (0:03:45) Codey: so not getting hitched, not getting engaged, none of that I have just been dissertationing and (0:03:50) Codey: dog sitting. So and chickens, chickens are the dog sitting. Yeah. (0:03:52) Kev: And chickens, apparently, you use these. (0:03:57) Codey: So dissertation, I am trying to defend this upcoming fall. So within the next like, (0:04:06) Codey: within the next six months, it’s horrifying. And so I have a lot to get done. And I finally (0:04:13) Codey: got money to hire people. So I have people that are helping me now. And so they I’m like, in the (0:04:22) Codey: lab a lot because I’m getting them to help me. I have people only through (0:04:27) Codey: July so with the in August I’m back to being by myself so these next few (0:04:30) Kev: Oh, oh you gotta squeeze out what you can. Yeah, oh you gotta move on. (0:04:33) Codey: months yeah these next few months are like as much as possible um so I (0:04:40) Codey: haven’t been dog sitting actually that much because I’ve been kind of switching (0:04:43) Codey: into like being on campus but I am dog sitting at this present moment my (0:04:47) Codey: advisor goes on a couple different summer vacations and I always like watch (0:04:53) Codey: his dogs and stay at his house and he also has chickens. (0:04:54) Kev: Mm-hmm. (0:04:57) Codey: the chickens come in he has I think four hens and then he bought seven baby chicks (0:05:06) Kev: okay (0:05:08) Codey: like right before he left one of them did not make it so far but I mean that’s they kind of just do (0:05:09) Kev: Yeah (0:05:12) Kev: No (0:05:15) Codey: that it’s not uncommon for that to happen so about all the other ones are doing great so I had to (0:05:16) Kev: Yeah (0:05:19) Kev: Yeah (0:05:23) Codey: Just kind of check on them and refill their water. (0:05:24) Kev: Can’t great good stuff (0:05:26) Kev: It’s it’s always surprises me how like affordable and easy it is to get into chickens if you have the space for it (0:05:32) Codey: He was like, it was so funny because we were texting about it. And he was like, he was (0:05:39) Codey: doing the whole like, back in my day, they used to be like a dollar each. And now they’re (0:05:44) Codey: $4, I guess. When you buy them, and he was like, it’s just so like, why is it selling? (0:05:45) Kev: Haha, yeah. (0:05:50) Codey: They used to be so much less expensive. And I was like, yeah, 100%. Um, but it’s fun. (0:05:52) Kev: Well, general gestures at the world, I guess. (0:06:00) Codey: So that I’ve also been doing (0:06:02) Codey: actual gardening at my house. (0:06:04) Kev: No, what’s growing? (0:06:04) Codey: So I have a bunch of peppers coming up, (0:06:08) Codey: some romaine, some kale, some tomatoes, and then I planted. (0:06:13) Codey: So all of those that I just mentioned (0:06:15) Codey: were like starts already. (0:06:17) Codey: So they were already like a little seedling. (0:06:20) Codey: They already have stuff going on. (0:06:20) Kev: Mm-hmm. (0:06:23) Codey: But I had these zucchini seeds that weren’t ready, (0:06:28) Codey: like weren’t started. (0:06:30) Kev: I know. (0:06:30) Codey: And so I put those, and they were, (0:06:32) Codey: actually, a little old. So I was like, I don’t know if this is gonna work. So I put the seeds in the ground, and low and behold, they are a bump in. So I actually need to thin those. Yeah, they actually, I actually need to thin those. And then in game news, I beat Breath of the Wild. And I started Tears in the Kingdom, and I did not get very far. I fell to the, to the ground, and then (0:06:42) Kev: life sprung forth. (0:06:52) Kev: Yo, congrats, okay. (0:07:03) Codey: immediately tried to make a wagon out of, because it’s like, there’s like parts all over the world. And there’s like, clearly, what are wagon parts. And I got almost all the way, and then I messed something up. And I like tried to shake it off. And it just broke the whole thing. (0:07:09) Kev: Yeah, yeah. (0:07:18) Kev: Oh, ha ha ha ha! Yeah! Yeah! (0:07:21) Codey: I haven’t really gotten back into that. (0:07:25) Kev: Oh, too disheartening. (0:07:26) Kev: Uh, um, okay, well, alright, there’s a lot here, so let’s back up one sec. (0:07:32) Kev: Okay, birth of the wild, what are your overall thoughts? (0:07:36) Codey: I really liked it. I think the story was don’t don’t look too hard at it, you know, like (0:07:41) Kev: Yeah, that’s correct (0:07:43) Codey: It’s pretty see-through, but it was a solid game. I had a lot of fun (0:07:46) Codey: I still have so much that I could do if I wanted to 100% it but I (0:07:51) Codey: Do not want to do that. So I’m not gonna do (0:07:53) Kev: Yeah, understandable. (0:07:56) Kev: Yeah. (0:07:57) Codey: Maybe it’s something I’d go back to later, but I just have I’m in this like (0:08:02) Codey: Purge mode where I’m like, I need to get through things. So I’m like purging my book (0:08:06) Codey: shelf. Like, I’ve been going through books that are on my bookshelf instead of buying (0:08:06) Kev: Mm-hmm (0:08:11) Codey: books this year and getting rid of a lot of that. I’ve been just going through like boxes (0:08:11) Kev: Mm-hmm. That’s good (0:08:18) Codey: that I’ve had for forever and I just need to get rid of them. So yeah. (0:08:20) Kev: Yeah (0:08:22) Kev: Yeah, okay (0:08:25) Kev: Understandable, okay, uh tears of the king. All right, you know what? (0:08:28) Kev: I think it’s probably for the best you take a breather because tears the I mean (0:08:32) Codey: Yeah. (0:08:33) Kev: There’s a lot new and like it’s sequel worthy (0:08:37) Kev: But it’s still you know, the the breath of the wild skeleton is there, right? So (0:08:38) Codey: Yeah. (0:08:40) Codey: Mm-hmm. (0:08:42) Kev: That’s a lot of breath of the wild at once and here’s the kingdom just like the predecessor is beefy (0:08:47) Kev: So, you know what, it’s probably for the best you take. (0:08:48) Codey: I think that’s the thing is like I started playing Tears of the Kingdom and I was like (0:08:56) Codey: I can see how this is going to be the same but also I’m not emotionally ready for these (0:09:01) Codey: changes like there was so much that like powers are different and I’m just struggling and (0:09:02) Kev: Yep. Oh, yeah. Yep. (0:09:09) Codey: so I yeah I needed to take a step back but yeah we. (0:09:11) Kev: Understandable, but it’ll be there when you’re ready. It’s good. It’s a thumbs up as well. (0:09:18) Codey: Yeah we’ve been doing a lot of stuff around the house and I’ve been trying to get rid (0:09:19) Kev: But yeah, I’d take a breather because it. (0:09:27) Codey: of a bunch of my specimens. I have like bugs that are that I caught like on my own that (0:09:32) Codey: I don’t actually they’re not part of anything that I just wanted to go through and I’m so (0:09:38) Codey: I’m finally starting to go through some of those so that my partner and we can have my (0:09:45) Codey: My partner and my roommate can have a freezer again. (0:09:48) Kev: Hmm (0:09:48) Codey: Everyone wants to be with the weird bugs early until they realize it means no freezer space because your freezer is all bugs. (0:09:56) Kev: that’s good good stuff (0:09:58) Codey: So yeah. What have you been up to though? How’s the pup? (0:10:04) Kev: oh the pup the pup is is he’s got healthy six seven months old he’s I mean he’s full size (0:10:11) Kev: he’s gonna be a little guy forever he’s toy variety of poodle but he still is energetic (0:10:12) Codey: Yeah. (0:10:16) Kev: and chaotic as always um still very much puppy um yeah um but uh but he’s yeah he’s a lot of fun (0:10:25) Kev: and still a lot of work, a lot of energy. (0:10:26) Kev: but it’s good. (0:10:29) Kev: Let’s see, other thing, non-puppy things. (0:10:32) Kev: So, I got Kyle and his late birthday gift to Switch 2 on just Friday. (0:10:40) Kev: That was a wild ride because, so the week, Switch 2 is a week out now, basically. (0:10:48) Kev: And I heard people, you know, I didn’t hear any horror stories of PS5, like, oh, it’s not available anywhere. (0:10:54) Kev: I heard everyone was getting it fine and so on. (0:10:56) Kev: And then later in the week I heard, “Oh, this is now the fastest selling console of all time ever.” (0:11:06) Kev: And then when Friday came and I got my paycheck, I was like, “Okay, so where do I get my Switch 2 for Calvin?” (0:11:12) Kev: And, “Oh, oh, it is now sold out everywhere. Oh, and so I’m sweating here.” (0:11:18) Kev: And then I reached out to someone who’s never done me wrong. (0:11:24) Kev: me wrong, someone all reliable. (0:11:26) Kev: you know I heard it was going in and out at stock in some places so I called (0:11:29) Codey: - Ah, yeah. (0:11:35) Kev: my local Costco and sure enough they got him so I was like well you going to (0:11:40) Kev: Costco and so I picked up you know my like switch to and four dozen eggs and (0:11:46) Kev: lemonade you know as one does at the Costco (0:11:48) Codey: Yeah, Costco. Costco also one of the only corporations that did not back off of their queer and diversity stuff when the new administration came in so great, great business to support. (0:12:00) Kev: Yup, yup, yup, Costco generally one of the better ones, not as horribly monstrous as (0:12:11) Kev: other corporations, um, you know, there’s still corporation or whatever, but generally (0:12:17) Kev: I hear good things, um, but anyway, so yeah, so Costco’s great, their food court’s still (0:12:22) Kev: great, um, that I got to switch to at Costco, it came in a bundle, I, I, I drew to Costco, (0:12:28) Kev: There was a discount. (0:12:29) Kev: You get a… (0:12:30) Kev: You get the Switch 2. (0:12:31) Kev: You get the Mario Kart World and a year of the Nintendo Online, the expansion, the better (0:12:37) Codey: live or whatever oh (0:12:40) Kev: one. (0:12:41) Kev: I forget the final price, but it is at a discount, all the stuff all together. (0:12:46) Kev: So that was nice. (0:12:51) Kev: And yeah, so we fired it up, Calvin played a lot of Mario Kart World with Calvin, I see (0:12:56) Kev: for myself, um, it, Mario Kart world is, you know, (0:13:00) Kev: interesting. Like now, now I can understand the process on the stuff Al said. (0:13:05) Kev: So like the Grand Prix is the biggest change because, um, you know, (0:13:09) Kev: in, in all the other Mario karts, it’s okay. Here’s your four courses. (0:13:12) Kev: You run three laps in them or whatever, right? That, that’s just how it is. (0:13:16) Kev: Okay. Now here, it’s not so much like you’re driving to, (0:13:21) Kev: I mean, you are kind of driving to the next track technically, (0:13:23) Kev: but really that’s just part of the Grand Prix. Like instead of three laps, (0:13:28) Kev: There’s three sections and the first section is… (0:13:30) Kev: Okay, drive to, you know, the next track or first or part of it or whatever, so (0:13:36) Kev: It’s less lab continuous laps around a single track and more just going across this entire island in bits and chunks (0:13:45) Kev: So yeah, that is different (0:13:49) Kev: Overall it’s solid. It’s Mario Kart. What can I say? (0:13:52) Kev: But but yeah, it did (0:13:55) Kev: One thing I will say that the huge cast and roster is actually it’s pretty awesome (0:14:01) Kev: just (0:14:02) Kev: Yeah, like cow cow is great actually (0:14:06) Kev: Yeah, and just other random weirdos and losers like the fishbone or pianza (0:14:11) Kev: And even the the main roster that you know the named characters they they have their costumes and a lot of those costumes (0:14:18) Kev: They’re pretty good. I won’t lie (0:14:22) Kev: You get Luigi dressing up like a like a was they called the gondolas in Venice and like one of those guys the gondola (0:14:28) Codey: Oh yeah, yeah, Donna Lear, yeah. (0:14:30) Kev: Yeah, there you go. That’s the word (0:14:33) Kev: Yeah, you get biker characters and just oh, it’s fun (0:14:37) Kev: There’s it’s it’s a lot to see and do (0:14:42) Kev: So yeah, oh, that’s good and the switch to in general (0:14:47) Kev: Holy moly that the technical upgrade is very not just palpable like it’s it’s it’s clear like night and day (0:14:56) Codey: I would hope so. It’s been like 5 years, right? (0:14:57) Kev: And not (0:15:00) Kev: Yeah, no, it’s been almost ten (0:15:04) Codey: Oh my god. (0:15:08) Kev: Yeah, yeah (0:15:08) Codey: That’s… I blinked. (0:15:12) Kev: 2016 or 27th, I can’t write the double check but one of those two that’s almost 10 years (0:15:14) Codey: Holy heckaroo. (0:15:18) Codey: Oh my gosh. Yeah, so it sure as heck better be an improvement. (0:15:21) Kev: Yeah, it is (0:15:23) Kev: But what’s nice is you don’t like cuz you know, there’s the whole switch to upgrades for all these games or whatever (0:15:28) Kev: You don’t even have to get it (0:15:30) Kev: I mean it’s like my brother Calvin, he played Splatoon (0:15:32) Kev: And so one of the first things he did was like (0:15:34) Kev: Okay, I’m gonna play Splatoon 2 or 3 or whatever on the new Switch (0:15:38) Kev: And oh yeah, you can see right away (0:15:40) Kev: Dang, look at those frame rates (0:15:42) Kev: They’re real now (0:15:44) Codey: as with the like switch copy, the old copy, it’s backwards compatible. Yeah. (0:15:47) Kev: Yeah, with his Switch copy (0:15:49) Kev: Yeah (0:15:50) Kev: Yeah, it’s backwards compatible (0:15:52) Kev: And he didn’t get an upgrade pack or whatever (0:15:54) Kev: Just running on the better hardware (0:15:57) Kev: like you can do the games just there (0:16:00) Kev: they just run better so very very cool but but yeah so switch to it’s it’s it’s (0:16:07) Codey: Yeah, good that good that you got one. So I was last week (0:16:12) Codey: Last weekend was go fest. I believe question mark (0:16:16) Codey: Yeah, last weekend was yeah last weekend was go fest and so a bunch of us were running around, New York City (0:16:17) Kev: this weekend I i heard (0:16:23) Kev: oh oh new york city go fest yes okay (0:16:23) Codey: and (0:16:25) Codey: friend of friend of the pod Chris Rivate (0:16:29) Kev: - Yeah. (0:16:29) Codey: Was trying to find one man (0:16:34) Codey: And he could not find one (0:16:35) Kev: Yeah. (0:16:37) Codey: He went to some targets. He went to the Nintendo store. He went he couldn’t I don’t know if he’s found one that by now but (0:16:40) Kev: Yeah. (0:16:41) Kev: Yeah. (0:16:42) Kev: Ooh. (0:16:44) Kev: Yeah, ooh, they didn’t have the Nintendo Store. (0:16:46) Kev: That’s rough, ‘cause the Nintendo Store (0:16:48) Kev: generally is pretty stocked with these things. (0:16:48) Codey: Yeah (0:16:50) Codey: Well and my partner’s uh (0:16:52) Codey: The building he works in is right is like the Nintendo building. Basically. It’s like right there (0:16:58) Codey: And he said the week before like all leading up to it (0:17:01) Codey: They had like 30 stations where you could play switch to out like just on the sidewalk (0:17:05) Kev: » Yeah. Oh, that’s cool. (0:17:07) Codey: Um, and yeah, and and those were all gone because i’m assuming they probably still (0:17:15) Codey: Uh, but yeah, it was it was crazy. Um, so many people would switch to stuff and and Pokemon people and (0:17:25) Kev: that’s that’s cool that’s cool but hey um I like I hope chris finds it soon um I i know they’re (0:17:32) Kev: actively trying to you know they’re trying to feed the machine and get restocks everywhere (0:17:36) Kev: I don’t think this is a ps5 situation where it’ll be gone for a year but you know fast to selling (0:17:43) Kev: cons of all time like holy mackerel I don’t think anyone expected that it’s it’s there’s demand for (0:17:48) Kev: it I guess um 10 years yep um (0:17:55) Kev: yeah that’s that’s good I mean overall thumbs up what can I say you know um prices it is what it (0:18:01) Kev: is but you know it’s it’s still good like in a vacuum um oh oh you know what i’m going back (0:18:07) Kev: to mario kart world first because I just remember two other thoughts I want to add first of all um (0:18:10) Codey: Okay. (0:18:11) Kev: so the race is now 24 people in a race right which is kind of insane um but this actually (0:18:18) Kev: had some upsides because the tracks are now really wide generally speaking (0:18:24) Codey: - Mm-hmm, mm-hmm, okay. (0:18:26) Kev: which you know there’s still turns that are unforgiving and you’ll fall off or whatever (0:18:30) Kev: but like the golden like the golden mushroom you know the one you can just spam and go go go go (0:18:36) Codey: Mm-hmm (0:18:36) Kev: like that one’s really good now because you can actually just stay on the track instead of just (0:18:40) Kev: flying off in his space yeah so I i actually like that part of it um and then one of the new modes (0:18:40) Codey: You’re not gonna bump off of things yeah (0:18:48) Kev: it’s called knockout rally um I think I like it better than the standard grand prix it it feels (0:18:56) Kev: so how it works is you have your 24 racers and they give you like an eight section chunk of the map (0:19:03) Kev: like okay here’s point a here’s point b c yada yada yada and so every checkpoint the bottom (0:19:10) Kev: four people are eliminated from the race so you start at 24 and at the end of it you’re it’s the (0:19:16) Kev: top four racing for first place of the overall thing um and that’s a fun mode I guess because (0:19:21) Kev: Because as you get towards the end, it feels a little less chaotic and more like the… (0:19:25) Kev: Classic Mario Kart, which is nice because you get a taste of both ends of the spectrum. (0:19:33) Kev: Because yeah, let me tell you, the 24 racers, it’s insane because if you’re in first place or dead last, it’s caught anywhere else. (0:19:42) Codey: Yeah. (0:19:42) Kev: It’s it is blink and you’re 10 places back. It’s insanity. But um… (0:19:46) Codey: Yeah, I used to play track media and it had a thing like that. (0:19:51) Kev: Oh! (0:19:52) Codey: Yeah. (0:19:53) Kev: Yeah, it’s good. I like it a lot. (0:19:55) Kev: Good stuff. Um, I don’t know. Yeah, switch to like I said overall thumbs up Mario Kart. Good stuff (0:20:02) Kev: Alright, let’s see other than that like so that was Calvin’s thing my own things (0:20:06) Kev: I’ve continued to play unicorn overlord the strategy game with a million layers of strategy (0:20:11) Kev: I don’t think I mentioned it so that you can adjust the logic of your your actions, which is insane to me (0:20:19) Kev: So like you’ll have an let’s say an archer, right? They fire an arrow (0:20:22) Kev: oh well, you can set conditions on (0:20:25) Kev: the attack like okay use an arrow on people in the back row or people only flying units or people that have health so on and so forth. It’s just more and more layers on complexity like good complexity of stuff you can do. It’s insane. It’s for crazy weirdos like me. I love it so much. It’s called Unicorn Overlord. It’s on Switch, PS5, Xbox. It’s on all sorts of things. I found it for cheap on Switch like 30 bucks. It’s on the (0:20:55) Kev: It was a $60 full price game when it came out, but it’s it’s cheap now. It’s it’s so good. And I reached the what I forget the name of the place. I reached the country of the beast people. It’s a whole country of like can have human anthropomorphic beast people. You got werewolf people, the bear people, owls, what else? Foxes and cats. I don’t remember. It’s a whole zoo of (0:21:25) Kev: beast people, which is really fun. I don’t know like and they’re you know, they’re kind of their own variation of classes. Like the bears are huge. They have a huge shield and a huge hammer. Oh, I love it. I like it’s it’s fun. It’s a lot of fun. It’s it’s flavorful. But yeah, Unicorn Overlord is good. It’s great for a freak like me. Another than that, the big one in line with the Switch 2. We got back the interwebs. I have internet running in my (0:21:55) Codey: Yay! (0:21:55) Kev: house and recording. I’m catching up on stuff. Zen la zone zero had its big 2.0 update while I was gone. And I floated that it’s a lot of stuff. It’s Zen la zone zero. I’m into it. And you know, it’s for me. But but oh my gosh, so much stuff to catch up on. And then that’s true for like all the other stuff that you know, my usual online haunts and whatnot. But um, but yeah, it’s nice to have that. At least I can watch videos at home now. But yeah, that’s (0:22:25) Kev: That’s what’s going on with me a lot of stuff. I guess works busy. Oh, oh, you know what minor little golf clap for myself here (0:22:34) Kev: so I (0:22:36) Kev: The company I started a couple months ago in February (0:22:40) Kev: My role is now sales engineer (0:22:43) Kev: So I am technically part of sales team a salesperson making sales or should be I made my first sale (0:22:49) Kev: It’s a little one, but it is a first sale. So yeah a golf clap for me. I did a thing (0:22:55) Kev: So yeah, there’s that. Okay. All right, Kevin’s done. All right (0:23:00) Kev: Let’s let’s get into it. All right next stuff. All right, what do we what do we got here? (0:23:04) Codey: Yeah, next is, “I Know What You Released Last Month,” so this is the every month we have a segment at the beginning of the first episode of the month or something which we’re doing it now. (0:23:20) Codey: We just talked about things that came out last month. So this is stuff that might have slipped under our radar, might have been on your radar, but you also have not noticed that it came out. (0:23:30) Kev: Yeah, I see one at least one (0:23:32) Codey: Um, so these are these (0:23:34) Codey: are the things so we oh I do see one too. So we have ratopia to pixellia franamon ea (0:23:40) Kev: That’s okay, okay (0:23:44) Codey: pixelshire or ea being early access pixelshire dole octown early access of life and land 1.0 (0:23:53) Codey: fantasy life I the girl who steals time and battle country do any of these jump out to you (0:23:58) Kev: Okay (0:24:00) Kev: Well, I got one ratopia. It’s a good game. We did the Kelly and all the nepsilon it you go listen to it (0:24:07) Kev: So that’s a thumbs up from me. Um (0:24:09) Kev: The fantasy life I’ve talked about that. I played the DS once good game gonna get the sequel eventually. I’m (0:24:17) Kev: Not yet, but I will get it. But the big one that I missed I didn’t realize it was out cattle (0:24:24) Kev: cattle country (0:24:26) Kev: Good mood, you know (0:24:29) Kev: I want to do that (0:24:31) Kev: So yeah, I’ll be looking at that. I didn’t realize it was out (0:24:35) Codey: - Mm-hmm. (0:24:36) Kev: What about you anything catch your eye (0:24:39) Codey: Of Life and Land caught my eye. (0:24:41) Codey: So that’s a game that I’ve been wanting to play, (0:24:43) Codey: but it’s a terrible time, terrible time to come out. (0:24:47) Codey: So anything could come out for the rest of the year (0:24:51) Codey: and it would be a terrible time. (0:24:51) Kev: No, it’s gonna be so we’re gonna need I know what you released last year (0:24:53) Codey: It’s just gonna be a bad time for me. (0:24:58) Codey: Yeah, and then I can go, it’ll be at the end of the year (0:25:01) Codey: and that’s when I will just have it. (0:25:03) Codey: I will have all the money (0:25:05) Codey: and a big fat job with all those jobs that still exist. (0:25:07) Kev: You go (0:25:09) Codey: Ha, ha, cry. (0:25:14) Kev: Man (0:25:14) Codey: And I’ll have so much money (0:25:15) Codey: and I’ll be like, oh, what can I spend money on? (0:25:18) Codey: No, so, okay. (0:25:19) Kev: Well, I (0:25:20) Codey: Yeah, that, but what? (0:25:21) Kev: Just I just want to add on on that note (0:25:24) Kev: so the company I work for their headquarters is actually in China and (0:25:30) Kev: Our products are manufactured in China with steel from China (0:25:35) Kev: And again, I started this and (0:25:37) Kev: February right like right early February. So like too much jobs into my or two weeks into my job (0:25:44) Kev: You know things happened and then I was like, well, I might be screwed (0:25:49) Codey: Yeah, it’s just up in the air. (0:25:52) Kev: Yup, no, I say that so much jokingly so far it’s okay (0:25:56) Kev: I did not felt shaky security or anything but still the the timing of that was oh (0:26:02) Kev: That was that was wild. Huh? Anyways, but like I said general (0:26:05) Codey: Yeah, it’s a great time to work in conservation, tell you what. (0:26:08) Kev: Oh (0:26:13) Kev: It’s it’s general gestures at the world, right? (0:26:18) Codey: We are here for escapism. (0:26:22) Kev: Yeah, oh, yeah, I want to escape there’s a bandit (0:26:29) Codey: You want to be a bandit? Is it bandit like Bluey’s dad? (0:26:34) Kev: no not that bandit you know we had um momo con in atlanta one of our big cons that one’s very (0:26:41) Kev: like anime focused for whatever reason they brought uh the voices of bandit and chili (0:26:45) Kev: I didn’t go see them but they were here and like dang that was a good get they were they’re like (0:26:52) Kev: the the headlines they’re like top of billing of the the guest list yeah yeah they would be um (0:26:54) Codey: they would be. We have right now, we have a convention near us that has a giant reunion (0:27:04) Codey: of people from Twilight. There’s also Dante Basco, who plays Zuko in Avatar. He has some (0:27:06) Kev: Oh! (0:27:13) Kev: Yo. Yo, we… (0:27:15) Codey: other roles, but my favorite role of his was Rufio and Hook. But yeah, that’s there’s some (0:27:23) Codey: good names in it. (0:27:25) Kev: Yeah, MobileCon was strong this year. They had some good names. I think they also had some Avatar people, um… (0:27:32) Kev: I know, but yeah, but Band and Chili were another like, “Oh, here’s the ones we were highlighting on. Here’s the, like I said, top building and a little guest list or whatever.” (0:27:41) Kev: Um… (0:27:42) Kev: Ah, Louie’s so good. (0:27:45) Kev: We, we gotta, we still have to do a greenhouse episode of How We Talked About It, and I’d love to do it. (0:27:46) Codey: I just need it back. (0:27:49) Codey: Oh my gosh, I’m not ready to cry. (0:27:51) Kev: Just… (0:27:53) Kev: Well, now we… (0:27:56) Kev: Yeah, there’s a lot of episodes that get emotional reactions, more than you’d think. (0:28:04) Codey: - Yeah, there was one that just like out of nowhere, (0:28:06) Codey: hit me and I was just sobbing. (0:28:07) Kev: Alright, which one? (0:28:10) Codey: No, I’m not, wait, it’s a great way for the greenhouse. (0:28:12) Codey: I’ll tell you not on the, yeah. (0:28:13) Kev: Alright, we’ll stay on the greenhouse, okay? (0:28:15) Kev: You know, look, it’s not my number one, but any time they show an older, bluey, I just scream. (0:28:16) Codey: We’ll do a greenhouse sometime soon without that. (0:28:24) Codey: - Yeah, yeah, yeah. (0:28:28) Codey: With the tree and the camping and the, (0:28:29) Kev: Alright. (0:28:30) Kev: Oh, that was a good one. (0:28:32) Codey: that was a good one. (0:28:34) Codey: So that is what released last month. (0:28:35) Kev: Alright, you know what else was good? (0:28:39) Codey: Are you gonna talk about the wholesome directs? (0:28:40) Kev: I was, because that was… (0:28:42) Kev: Yeah, oh yeah, okay, well yeah. (0:28:43) Kev: But that was the stuff that came out. (0:28:45) Kev: Was there any, you know, I’m going too fast here. (0:28:47) Kev: Is there anything else you wanted to talk about on the stuff that came out? (0:28:49) Codey: - No, no. (0:28:50) Kev: Okay, now, I mean, I’d have to… (0:28:53) Kev: I don’t remember all these names off the top of my head (0:28:55) Kev: So maybe a missing one, but I mean either anyways, but yes wholesome direct that was also good Cody (0:29:00) Kev: Do you have any thoughts on the wholesome? (0:29:02) Codey: So, uh, the question that I’ll pose specifically was did I have anything that you guys didn’t say I didn’t listen to last week’s episode yet (0:29:10) Codey: I’m sorry, so (0:29:10) Kev: That’s fine. No, that’s fine. I’m usually a couple weeks behind myself. (0:29:13) Codey: But (0:29:14) Codey: but also I just um, I just like (0:29:20) Codey: Watch the first like I watched the whole host and direct but a lot of it was I was just like I (0:29:26) Codey: Expected that yep. Okay. Yeah, I’ve heard this is coming out. Okay, this this is to be expected (0:29:30) Kev: Mm-hmm (0:29:32) Codey: The only thing that I was super stoked about and I wrote a note down and I put underlined an exclamation point (0:29:38) Codey: Was leaf-blowing games (0:29:40) Kev: Yeah (0:29:42) Kev: So I’m like (0:29:42) Codey: Um, yeah (0:29:44) Kev: Powerwash simulator has established a genre like it’s wild but here we are (0:29:51) Kev: It’s it’s just that satisfaction of I don’t know clean like sing something becoming clean. I guess like I (0:29:59) Kev: Guess that’s I mean I so one of my little habits quarks. I am infamous for (0:30:08) Kev: adjusting like (0:30:10) Kev: If I’m just standing by some are just like waiting for something or whatever and I see like a dusty area I will start (0:30:17) Kev: dusting that thing cuz I (0:30:18) Codey: Yeah, I do stuff like that too. And then it’s really awkward when I’m doing it. And I’m waiting for my friend to get like ready to go do something and then I’m like cleaning up their house and they’re like, Oh, I’m sorry. Am I dirty? And I’m like, No, I just need to do this. (0:30:20) Kev: That’s that’s (0:30:29) Kev: Yeah (0:30:38) Kev: Yeah (0:30:40) Kev: Absolutely. Yeah. Yeah, so it’s no I’m not trying to shame or do anything just I can make like there’s an opportunity to make a dust (0:30:47) Kev: Bunny here, and that’s that’s that that’s a good one (0:30:48) Codey: Or like, I’m sorry, I looked and this plant, uh, like I checked it and it desperately needs water. So I don’t say that. Oh, that was a big. (0:30:56) Kev: Yeah, oh (0:30:59) Kev: Okay, you know that that one might be a little harder like I could see it cuz you know that that one’s like (0:31:06) Kev: Active care of a living thing right like the dust thing that that just happens passively (0:31:11) Kev: But like I get it and I’m like I’m this. Oh, that’s that’s rough. But um (0:31:17) Kev: But yeah, but it’s the same thing. Yeah, just just chicken something offer, you know (0:31:22) Kev: Hi, yeah, you know what hydrating a plant that is a good one right like seeing the water (0:31:26) Codey: Yeah and like you can, especially like I know how to, I’ve had a lot of these plants like I (0:31:26) Kev: Go in and the soil absorbs it (0:31:32) Codey: go to a friend’s house I see their pothos is looking kind of sad and then I can also first of (0:31:37) Codey: all pop those you can just water the crap out of those they’re fine but like or a monstera or (0:31:42) Codey: something and I you can check the soil you can just dip a finger into the soil and if it is bone (0:31:46) Codey: bone dry just pour a little water and just give her a little love. Especially as grad students like (0:31:50) Kev: Yeah, yeah (0:31:53) Codey: we usually have so much going on like (0:31:55) Kev: Yeah (0:31:56) Codey: it’s good to just like take care of something for someone so yeah that (0:31:58) Kev: Yeah, yeah for sure yeah, absolutely I get that and like us (0:32:03) Codey: leaf-blowing game though so it was funny because like I was listening to this (0:32:04) Kev: Yeah. Oh, yeah (0:32:09) Codey: while I was the wholesome direct in the um in the museum that I worked in and (0:32:14) Kev: Uh-huh (0:32:14) Codey: people that were working in the museum were like what are you freaking out (0:32:17) Codey: about I’m like this is a leaf-blowing game and like someone was like what do (0:32:21) Codey: you mean and then someone else started explaining they’re like yeah it’s like (0:32:24) Codey: Like, it’s like– (0:32:26) Codey: like, leafblowing, or, like, there’s a power wash one. (0:32:29) Codey: But, like, why don’t you just, like, get one in real life? (0:32:33) Codey: Why don’t you just go get a leafblower? (0:32:35) Codey: And I’m like, first of all, that’s money. (0:32:36) Kev: It’s money. (0:32:37) Codey: Second of all, I can’t– (0:32:38) Kev: Yeah! (0:32:42) Codey: like, it wouldn’t take me that long to leafblow my yard. (0:32:45) Codey: And then it would be done. (0:32:46) Kev: Yeah (0:32:46) Codey: And then I would have nothing left to leafblow. (0:32:49) Kev: Yeah, yeah (0:32:50) Codey: So I also actually have a leafblower already. (0:32:53) Codey: But we– (0:32:55) Kev: Yeah (0:32:56) Codey: Yeah, this is different. (0:32:57) Codey: Like, I can power wash a children’s playground (0:33:01) Codey: as a Stegosaurus, and I can try and get the soccer ball (0:33:03) Codey: to go up the slide and get extra points. (0:33:05) Kev: Yeah, that’s true man, so you know, I live in an apartment so I get even less leaf blower powerwash opportunities or whatever, but (0:33:07) Codey: Like, that’s just– that’s just fun. (0:33:10) Codey: That’s just pure fun. (0:33:21) Kev: The one thing I’ll do on I don’t even do it out of like generous and most times I do out of spite or impatience (0:33:29) Kev: There’ll be shrubs or trees that are just they’re just growing way too long (0:33:33) Kev: Like actually interferes (0:33:35) Kev: Like I need extra clearance for walking or I have more of a hassle for me to go under so I’ll go out and trim him up and oh there we go (0:33:36) Codey: Mmm, mmm, mmm, mmm. (0:34:02) Kev: I can now walk without having to bend. (0:34:05) Kev: That’s why leaf blower simulator exists for these exact reasons. (0:34:09) Codey: It’s intruding on public space. (0:34:11) Codey: They needed to take care of it and they didn’t. (0:34:35) Kev: Let’s start with updates to games that exist going from old to new. (0:34:40) Kev: We are going to start with Critter crops. (0:34:44) Kev: The witchery born. What a name for an update. (0:34:48) Kev: The witchery born. (0:34:48) Codey: Yeah, that’s a pretty, pretty, like, metal name, yeah, exactly. (0:34:51) Kev: Metal. (0:34:56) Kev: It’s a very cute, cozy art style on critter crops. (0:34:59) Kev: It’s very adorable. I love it. (0:35:01) Kev: called the witch reborn you know it’s the fear street (0:35:03) Codey: Yeah. (0:35:05) Kev: three three four um it. Mm hmm. (0:35:09) Codey: Yeah, so this one adds a new vendor, (0:35:12) Codey: which I’m assuming is the witch, a new grimoire, new UI. (0:35:16) Codey: It adds new turn by turn combat and different customization (0:35:21) Codey: options. (0:35:22) Codey: But I think the biggest thing for y’all, for you and Al, (0:35:25) Codey: and probably for our audience, is complete controller support. (0:35:30) Codey: And they say, quote, this one was a doozy to. (0:35:33) Codey: Implement. Unfortunately, it’s not perfect. (0:35:35) Codey: So we recommend not swapping back and forth between joystick and mouse and keyboard. (0:35:42) Kev: Are there people who do that? (0:35:44) Codey: I thought that’s a choice. (0:35:49) Kev: You know what, that’s fine. Let those people- I think those people deserve it, if that’s what they want to do. (0:35:54) Kev: Let them- we’re introducing updates to make their lives more miserable. (0:36:00) Kev: Freaks! (0:36:04) Kev: I’m kidding. Obviously there’s- I’m sure- I look- I don’t mouse and keyboard at all in general, so… (0:36:10) Codey: Or maybe your controller’s dead. (0:36:11) Codey: Maybe you have ADHD and you forgot to charge it. (0:36:12) Kev: Yeah. (0:36:15) Codey: Can’t relate, but– (0:36:15) Kev: Yeah, look, the obvious use case is you need to type something, you know, a thing pops up, well… (0:36:20) Codey: Oh, true, true. (0:36:22) Kev: Just keyboard away, like, yeah. No, I’m sure it exists, but… (0:36:24) Codey: Multitasking. (0:36:28) Kev: Yeah, alright, but that- that- like, I’m just looking at this big list, um… (0:36:33) Kev: That- that’s a lot of stuff, um, like, holy mackerel, that is- they just had a truckload of updates on their little steam blurb, (0:36:42) Kev: like, revamp combat, that’s huge, holy mackerel. (0:36:46) Codey: » Mm-hmm. (0:36:47) Kev: Um, good for them, um, and controller support, yeah, that’s a big one. (0:36:48) Codey: » Yeah. Go for them. (0:36:51) Codey: So this is technically their 2.0 update. (0:36:53) Codey: So it’s already out, it’s 1999, (0:36:55) Codey: it’s only on Windows. (0:36:57) Codey: So this just adds some new content and updates some things. (0:37:03) Codey: No, sir. I’m not sure if you heard the dog. (0:37:06) Kev: I might want to play this. This game is so cute. I’m just looking at this art style. It’s it’s (0:37:11) Codey: I think when we initially looked at this, (0:37:11) Kev: adorable (0:37:14) Codey: of the art style was not my favorite. (0:37:16) Codey: But it’s growing on me. It’s growing. (0:37:17) Kev: I (0:37:18) Kev: like it and these these (0:37:21) Kev: Everything’s kind of bouncing cute. I look just look at it people to go click on the link in the show notes. It’s good one (0:37:28) Kev: That’s critter. Yeah, it’s 2.0. You’re right (0:37:30) Kev: Um, I buy will likely especially now has controller support. Yeah, this one’s on my list now (0:37:36) Kev: officially oh (0:37:39) Kev: All right, um, what do we have next? (0:37:44) Codey: Next up is Travelers Rest, so they have a new thing called Pet Party, (0:37:54) Codey: which is an expansion, not an expansion, a DLC question. (0:37:58) Kev: I have pet parties at home. It’s called lucky wants to just jump on me and lick my face a lot and man (0:38:04) Codey: So this is the 0.7, 0.1 update, so this is still in early access, still earlier on, and they basically (0:38:11) Codey: we just added a pet. I think he had a cat before, but I’m (0:38:14) Codey: going to have a dog, dog will follow you around and it’ll (0:38:17) Codey: dig things up. And when you see like the little they dig and (0:38:22) Codey: there’s a little symbol, you can also dig and you can get stuff (0:38:25) Codey: out of the ground. It also adds the artifacts table. So you (0:38:31) Codey: might uncover some archaeological things. And then (0:38:35) Codey: you can use the artifacts table to make them into things to (0:38:39) Codey: decorate your home. So I think the dogs are cute. (0:38:44) Codey: They have a lot of options for it. Also, yeah, also in the (0:38:48) Kev: Yeah, this is Saint Bernard, that’s wild. (0:38:53) Codey: building. So you get these in the from a new building with (0:38:57) Codey: new NPCs, they’re called the buildings called the burrow is (0:39:01) Codey: basically an animal shelter. They have like a red panda in (0:39:05) Codey: there. They have some other stuff that currently you cannot (0:39:10) Codey: get, but it it there it would be nice. It would be (0:39:14) Codey: nice to get some of this stuff. Yeah. (0:39:16) Kev: Yeah, I can’t have a breadband in real life, so you know I’d like one virtually (0:39:22) Kev: That they have a dog with a cone on it (0:39:24) Kev: I don’t think I’ve seen that before in a game or you know one of these cottagecore games so props to them for that (0:39:30) Codey: I don’t think I’ve ever seen it in a game. (0:39:33) Kev: You might be right I don’t think I have either (0:39:36) Codey: I can’t believe Sims hasn’t done that yet. (0:39:38) Kev: Yeah, I’m surprised Sims hasn’t done that for people (0:39:45) Codey: I wonder if that’s a choice you can have. (0:39:46) Kev: You (0:39:49) Codey: And then, you know, I wouldn’t be surprised. (0:39:49) Kev: Know (0:39:51) Kev: Yeah, yeah, I don’t I’m never surprised by anything in Sims. I was just like yeah sure I believe they’d do it (0:39:58) Kev: You know I’ve always been a little hard on travelers rest because it’s you know so (0:40:04) Kev: Star Dewey, but man they’ve really made this game robust. They’re supporting it law is strong like good for them (0:40:13) Kev: Yeah, it’s impressive. I you know to the tip of my head (0:40:16) Kev: Cuz that’s a that’s good work (0:40:20) Kev: Is it is it changing my mind? Maybe a little I’m impressed (0:40:23) Codey: Well, it’s not at 1.0 yet, so you’ve got some time. (0:40:27) Kev: It is not one but you know what yeah, that’s right that that is my general bar (0:40:32) Kev: So what you know, but you’ve caught my interest, you know 1.1 drops. Maybe I’ll pick it up. Remember (0:40:40) Kev: All right, you know what is past 1.0 pixel. Yeah is we talked we actually mint (0:40:46) Kev: Didn’t we mention it? Yeah (0:40:47) Codey: Yeah, so it came out last month, and they have now brought out Steam Deck and controller support and key rebinding support. (0:40:59) Codey: And here, Al has a comment. (0:41:05) Codey: Al, not on the pod, but he commented, “Both of these should have been there at launch.” (0:41:10) Codey: Quote. (0:41:10) Kev: You know what, yes, and you know what, I’m going to say that as a blanket statement for any game on a PC. (0:41:11) Codey: Yeah. (0:41:18) Kev: Like, okay, maybe not every, there’s like, I’m sure there’s a 1% like, this game does not need a controller, but if your game could use a controller at launch with controller support, please, please. (0:41:30) Codey: Yeah, so this is what Al said, and I am going to retweet, share, like, subscribe to this comment. (0:41:37) Codey: Quote, “I am not going to stop complaining when games launch without even the most (0:41:41) Codey: basic controller or remapping support. It should be built into games from the very first time (0:41:47) Codey: you do any key mapping in the first place. It is not just for Steam Deck users, it is an (0:41:52) Codey: accessibility feature. Granted, they did add both within two months, but they should have been there (0:42:00) Codey: version.” Yeah. (0:42:00) Kev: yep yep and you know what like I for those early access or betas like I you know I can get it you (0:42:07) Kev: know how to control support but if you do 1.0 you’re crossing that line you you gotta do it just (0:42:08) Codey: Yeah. (0:42:13) Kev: come on you gotta look a little professional right like and I get it can be hard I get it that can (0:42:19) Kev: be worked the what was it the the other critter crops they said that was hard and you know what (0:42:24) Kev: they’re probably right but you just (0:42:27) Codey: - Oh yeah, you’re basically like releasing your game (0:42:31) Codey: or just some people, but like for some of your base. (0:42:38) Codey: But if there are people who are reliant on controller (0:42:42) Codey: support or keyboard remapping to be able to play a game, (0:42:46) Codey: period, then you’re basically limiting, (0:42:51) Codey: those people can’t play your game at launch. (0:42:53) Codey: And so everyone else is gonna be off playing it (0:42:55) Codey: and enjoying it. (0:42:57) Codey: They’re going to be Squidward in his house, looking at SpongeBob and Patrick running around, having fun. (0:42:58) Kev: Mm-hmm (0:43:07) Kev: That meme is so good (0:43:08) Codey: I love that meme. I post that meme all the time. (0:43:11) Kev: So, I mean really, you know like I mean you and me are roughly in the same age (0:43:17) Kev: Group, right? So, you know those first two seasons spongebob that we know when they kind of defined a large part of our brain and life (0:43:25) Kev: and vocabulary on but (0:43:28) Kev: But the memes are very strong from spongebob. That’s such a good one (0:43:28) Codey: - Yeah, they are, they’re endearing. (0:43:34) Kev: Yep, oh (0:43:36) Kev: But okay. Well that all said it is out on pixalia. Um, so good for them for finally getting it out (0:43:44) Kev: You know just a few warning to you know using our (0:43:49) Kev: Influencer power here on all these games that clearly listen to us (0:43:53) Kev: Game devs listening to us put your put your controls report at once (0:43:57) Codey: - I mean, I will, I’ll jump on a high horse. (0:43:59) Codey: I think that like these games are geared (0:44:02) Codey: for neurodivergent folks towards like, (0:44:05) Codey: they are for people who are different. (0:44:06) Kev: Yeah. That’s a good point. (0:44:10) Codey: And so it’s something that like, yeah, (0:44:13) Codey: like not having that out at the jump is like kind of weird (0:44:19) Codey: to exclude basically your biggest fan base. (0:44:22) Codey: It’s like, if they were like, oh, (0:44:24) Kev: Mm hmm. Mm hmm. Yeah. (0:44:24) Codey: we’re going to make a new harvest moon. (0:44:27) Codey: game but you can only be a boy and then a month in suddenly you can be a girl and you can be (0:44:33) Codey: a different race and you like so I it’s it’s 2025 y’all we are past this I thought (0:44:42) Kev: Yeah. (0:44:44) Codey: but yeah good on them for getting it out ASAP but uh just to be warned else um please have this out (0:44:52) Codey: like after Trump (0:44:56) Kev: All right, what do we got next? (0:45:00) Codey: Next up, sorry, next up is Lightyear Frontier. (0:45:03) Codey: They have their new ELC slash what it called, (0:45:08) Codey: just content update. (0:45:09) Codey: Yeah, it’s just content update. (0:45:11) Codey: It’s the shipping gear update. (0:45:13) Codey: It just adds a lot ton of new content. (0:45:18) Kev: settings and things. (0:45:18) Codey: So yeah, settings, there’s modular building, (0:45:21) Codey: there’s new tools, there’s new types to cross and mounds. (0:45:26) Codey: There’s mech, there’s health. (0:45:28) Kev: health? What do you mean adding mech health? There’s an inn already? (0:45:30) Codey: And your mech, yeah, it’s true. (0:45:36) Codey: New minerals to the game world, a day length setting, (0:45:40) Codey: a setting where you can auto hide the heads up display, (0:45:43) Codey: which is super dope, adding a quick deposit accelerator (0:45:46) Codey: in storage contract menus, (0:45:48) Codey: 100% love whenever you add quick deposit things. (0:45:52) Codey: You don’t have to click a button a million times. (0:45:55) Codey: Um, I mean, it seems like, uh, it’s, it’s, uh, yeah. (0:46:00) Codey: It’s an update that kind of fixes a lot of the small little, yeah, yeah, um, yeah, they (0:46:04) Kev: they’re literally changing physics in the game that’s there’s several bullets on physics (0:46:12) Codey: also have, uh, some changes to physics and some bug fixes and they have a new roadmap (0:46:17) Codey: and the new roadmap, um, includes, so in development, so we’re still in early access for this game. (0:46:24) Codey: The things that are in development, so they are happening, um, are (0:46:30) Codey: more mech customization, more ruins and lore, biome, building pieces, um, in exploration (0:46:37) Codey: stuff they’re thinking about doing, but, uh, is not quite on the horizon, is mech powered (0:46:44) Codey: resource hauling, so I guess your mech’s carrying resources for you, new hazards and terrain, (0:46:51) Codey: and then some other things for consideration, if I see controller support in here, I’m gonna (0:46:56) Codey: can lose it. Um, multiplayer. (0:46:58) Kev: Hahahaha at least (0:47:00) Codey: Or expanded automation, uh, creative mode, fast travel, mod support. Okay, cool. (0:47:07) Kev: Mm-hmm. Well, I’d say yeah (0:47:11) Kev: Yeah, do you think road map should have at least target tentative dates? (0:47:16) Kev: I feel like they should because I don’t know that that feels like the map part to me, but (0:47:23) Kev: That’s just like a general statement like a month (0:47:26) Kev: You know, because they list all this, but there’s no dates or anything. (0:47:28) Kev: You know, again, I know that work is hard. They’d probably be wrong anyways, but… (0:47:35) Codey: It’s nice to give people some idea because

The word “jellyfish” may bring up a memory of an unpleasant beach experience, or of nostalgic childhood days watching Spongebob Squarepants. Often jellyfish don't get the love that many other marine critters enjoy, but Spongebob certainly loved them, as fishing for jellyfish was his favorite pastime. Although jellyfish can be a nuisance and a hazard, they are an important component of marine ecosystems. Their lifecycle is fascinating, and their survival instinct is impressive. On this episode of Fish University, we'll dive deep into the world of cnidarians with someone almost as passionate as Spongebob about these brainless, boneless creatures. Ms. Diana Philips joins us from Reef Environmental Education Foundation to share with us her knowledge, passion, and a little humor about these misunderstood denizens of the deep. Dan Povenmire and Jeff "Swampy" Marsh, the creative minds behind the beloved animated series PHINEAS AND FERB, are back as co-creators and executive producers for its new season. His impressive resume includes contributions to other popular animated series such as THE SIMPSONS, ROCKO'S MODERN LIFE, and KING OF THE HILL. We were Live with my good friend, 2x Emmy nominee, Gary Stockdale. What a joy after a long void. Pre-pandemic, it seems we saw each other everywhere, and often. COVID changed life. A lot. We talked about that and how both of us have Facebook Lives born out of necessity. You'd think with our combined expertise, it would be smooth sailing. You'd think. Tech glitches messed with Gary's fine art… his singing/playing and songwriting, which we were challenged to present, but Gary persevered and did treat us to two songs from his new musical, Showstopper, and an a cappella treat to take us out that I won't spoil. Gary took us back to his early days in Glendale, musical theatre at LA City College, his mentor Henry Mancini, Penn & Teller for whom he scored for 25 years. There was Sabrina the Teenage Witch, The Aristocrats, Spongebob Square Pants, and lot of Gary music along the way to discuss. Even with the challenges, it was a fun, relaxed ride down Gary's memory lane. The kind of conversation that happens between friends. Lovely. And Gary's voice… I don't know how it's possible, but he sounds even more incredible than ever. What a gorgeous voice, and what an amazing songwriter! After a particularly crap day, this time with Gary truly healed my weary soul.
