When it comes to muscle cars, we all have our favorites. From Chevelles and Chargers, to Mustangs and AMXs, there are some vehicles that just speak to us in ways we can't explain. For many, one of the most sought after is that of the 1971 Plymouth ‘Cuda, that perfectly designed E-Body that Ma Mopar created just over fifty years ago. With damn near flawless lines, and no shortage of engines, rear-ends and transmission, it's no wonder they're some of the most sought after cars ever created. Therefore, we thought it only fitting that, seeing as we have two of the most desirable versions on our very own Hemmings Auctions (a numbers matching 1971 Hemi ‘Cuda 4-speed Shaker, and a '71 440-6, 4-speed drop-top), that we'd bring on Mopar expert Scott Smith of Harms Automotive on this week's episode of the Hemmings Hot Rod BBQ podcast, to explain why these two Mopars are just so damn special.

In this trip, we spend time learning all about Bill’s 1970 Hemi Cuda -- with its first-generation 426 cubic inch, high-nickel alloy, cast iron block. This black, True “R” Code Hemi Cuda is believed to be one of only seven. Over the 30 years of ownership, 16 of those went to countless hours of detailed restoration, spanning from 2003 to 2019. Ride along as Bill walks you through the provenance and history of his car, from the time his Cuda rolled off the Hamtramck assembly line on July 7th, 1970, right up to current day as well as the concourse-level events Bill is planning to attend. The first guest coming up on Wednesday's show is the co-owner of Port-A-Tree timing systems Al Smyth. Not only is Al the co-owner of Port-A-Tree but, is also the pilot of the SS/AH 1968 Hemi Barracuda in Super Stock Competition. Calling Lebanon Valley Dragway his home Al, started racing while in college and has never left. To date, Al has 7 class wins in the 68 Cuda in Super Stock. Al is also the proud father of young stock standout, daughter Allison and his son, Stephen who travel the east coast running the NHRA Tour with wife Sue. Next up, we turn our attention to Division 3 Super Stock Stand out Brad Zaskowski. Zaskowski, is a muti-time National & Division event winner in his Zaskowski Builders 1987 Camaro. Along with his father Bill and Brother Kevin, Brad travels around the North Central Division terrorizing the Super Stock class. Brad has been the 2010 & 2012 Division 3 Super Stock Champion and finished off 2015 with a third place finish and lead the National series points up till late in the season. Brad and his team will be gearing up for a trip down south and the start of the 2016 season at Gainesville Dragway and the Division 2 season opener along with the Amalie Oil Gatornationals.
