The MPV team is currently hard at work on Beyond Polarization, a limited series where we talk to people who are finding solutions to the increasing polarization we face in the United States. In the meantime, we bring you this episode from our friends at Disrupting Peace, a podcast from the World Peace Foundation about "why peace hasn't worked, and how it still could." What beliefs make people willing to commit violence, and what could change their minds? This episode explores what makes individuals vulnerable to white supremacist beliefs, what it means when extremism becomes mainstream, the surprising permeability of these groups, and how to talk to people in your life who express racist ideology. Peter Simi is a professor of Sociology at Chapman University, and an expert on extremist groups and violence in the US. Among his many publications, he is co-author of American Swastika: Inside the White Power Movement's Hidden Spaces of Hate, and Out of Hiding: Extremist White Supremacy and How It Can be Stopped. Sara Winegar Budge holds a doctorate in Psychology and is a licensed psychologist in Oregon. She is the Director of US Programs at Moonshot, which builds technology to identify and disrupt organized crime, child sexual exploitation, and trafficking, among other forms of abuse and violence. Her clinical work focuses on individuals who are or have been involved in violent extremism. Disrupting Peace is produced by Bridget Conley and Emily Shaw. Engineering by Jacob Winik and Aja Simpson. Dr. Annie Selak (she/her/hers) is an expert in feminist ecclesiology. She studies wounds in the church, or moments where the church fails to live into its mission and causes harm. Racism, sexism, and the clergy sex abuse crisis are examples of the church failing to credibly be church. Guided by a feminist methodology, Selak integrates the lived experience of women with a robust vision for the church. Selak serves as a Visiting Scholar in the Center on Faith and Justice while working as a campus minister at a local independent school. She earned her Ph.D. in systematic theology at Boston College and M.Div at the Jesuit School of Theology at Berkeley. Selak has over 15 years of experience in Catholic ministry, and her writing has appeared in Modern Theology, Journal of Catholic Social Thought, Washington Post, National Catholic Reporter, Commonweal, and America. Her forthcoming book, The Wounded Church: Tending to the Harm within Catholicism (Fordham University Press, 2026) puts forth a vision of the church in the shadow of wounds, guided by a feminist methodology. Selak argues that the Catholic Church must confront its own injuries in order to credibly be Church. Using a feminist framework, she develops a new ecclesiology around three wounds, racism, sexism, and clericalism, that actively harm the Body of Christ and distort its witness. Attentive to history, pastoral practice, and lived experience, Selak shows how each wound is both inflicted by the Church and borne within the Church. She offers the resurrected body of Jesus, scarred yet no longer bleeding, as a guiding metaphor for ecclesial renewal, a body that does not deny its wounds but is transformed through them. Drawing on Karl Rahner, she grounds hope in the reign of God while insisting on concrete institutional and spiritual conversion. Written for students and scholars, ministers and lay leaders, The Wounded Church uncovers overlooked histories tied to racism, sexism, and the clergy sexual abuse crisis, and proposes clear theological principles for reform. The result is a constructive, pastorally engaged vision that tells the truth about harm and imagines credible paths toward change, accountability, and justice. In this episode of the Pain Pill Podcast, Ghost-D explores practical ways people can respond to racism without allowing it to control their lives. Rather than focusing on anger, this discussion centers on strategy, awareness, self-improvement, economic empowerment, and taking advantage of every opportunity available.Topics discussed include:Going to the Source – Learning how to gather information directly rather than relying on rumors, assumptions, or secondhand opinions.Being Prepared for Mistreatment – The importance of documenting workplace issues, recording incidents when legal and appropriate, preserving evidence, and immediately filing professional complaints when children or vulnerable people are mistreated in schools or institutions.Refusing to Be Emotionally Controlled – Ignoring racist behavior that is designed only to provoke a reaction while recognizing when a situation becomes genuinely harmful and requires action. Knowing when to leave toxic environments and avoid supporting openly racist businesses.Economic Empowerment Through Community Spending – Exploring ways to circulate money within non-white communities through local businesses, direct transactions, neighborhood services, and community-based economic relationships.Taking Full Advantage of Being American – Understanding and utilizing available benefits, citizenship rights, travel opportunities, educational resources, and financial programs that can improve quality of life.Understanding the Black Side of the Chessboard – Learning from successful strategies used by others, understanding the realities of the game being played, and maximizing opportunities in education, business, and career paths that can create life-changing results.Breaking Stereotypes – Rejecting limiting expectations and recognizing that many systems rely on people following predictable patterns. Standing apart from those expectations can create opportunities for advancement. Not Hating White People for Being White – Discussing why hatred is often wasted energy, the value of remaining professional and polite, and avoiding becoming the same type of mistreater you oppose.Standing Up Against Mistreatment – Supporting people who are being treated unfairly whenever it is safe to do so, regardless of who is responsible or who is being targeted.Accepting Genuine Help Without Guilt – Examining how to respectfully and gratefully accept opportunities, assistance, mentorship, or support when it is offered, without feeling ashamed or obligated. This episode is not about victimhood. It's about awareness, strategy, discipline, and making the best decisions possible in a world that isn't always fair.Pain Pill PodcastHosted by Ghost-DReal Talk. Raw Truth. No Filter.

The Katherine Massey Book Club @ The C.O.W.S. hosts the 7th session on Michelle Alexander's The New Jim Crow: Mass Incarceration In the Age of Colorblindness. Alexander is a non-white female with one White parent and one non-white parent. Despite 15 years of institutional celebration, Gus T. anticipated this being one of the 5 Worst Books Ever. Racists generally do not promote literature that provides an accurate understanding of the System of White Supremacy. Deception by Omission: A serious exploration of prisons and Racism must account for the systemic forces that built them. This book's failure to center COINTELPRO, the torture legacy of Chicago's Jon Burge, or the raw profitability of caging Black men suggests Alexander is guilty of a whole lot of lying. Last week's review included: 1. The "Basically" Deception & The Audio Patch: Alexander claims the 10th Anniversary edition is "basically" the same book, yet we discovered she began remixing her sloppy book almost immediately. Last week, Gus noted that in 2010 she wrote that 1/3 of state inmates are violent offenders. But in the 2012 audiobook, she boosted the number to 50%. Which is it? 2. The COINTELPRO Foundation: Last week, Alexander again discussed the necessary use of police informants to snitch on drug users and violent offenders. She explained that the information they relay may or may not be true and they can easily be manipulated to lie on behalf of law enforcement. These are all hallmarks of the FBI campaign Alexander willfully omits from her original printing. 3. Flagrant Lies: Alexander again says that at some random point in time following the 1970s, most people classified as White in this part of the world disavowed the practice of Racism/White Supremacy. Again, Alexander knows this is a lie because her White relatives booted her White mom out of the family for marrying a black dude. Alexander lived in a Racially Restricted Region of Oregon in the 1980s. She's hyper-aware that Whites remain dedicated to the System of White Supremacy - as was her deceased black father. #COINTELPRO #TheRedboneDeception #TheCOWS17Years INVEST in The COWS – [http://paypal.me/TheCOWS](http://paypal.me/TheCOWS) Cash App: [https://cash.app/$TheCOWS](https://cash.app/$TheCOWS) CALL IN NUMBER: 720.716.7300 CODE 564943#

A couple summers ago, Radiolab reporter Alex Neason got out of the shower and almost stepped on her worst nightmare: an American Cockroach. It was flipped onto its back, struggling, and for a split second, Alex swears she felt the spiny tickle of its legs on the underside of her bare foot. And, like every other time she has come into contact with a roach, this sent her into a debilitating spiral of fear, anger, and disgust. This week, Alex tries to understand what might be behind her fear, in the hopes she can overcome it. And in doing so, Alex learns more about these so-called pests than she could have ever wanted to.Special thanks to Jessica Ware, Timothy Marzullo, Alexandra Bell, and Changlu WangEPISODE CREDITS: Reported by - Alex Neason Produced by - Jessica Yung and Annie McEwen with mixing help from - Jeremy Bloom Fact-checking by - Sophie Samiee and Edited by - Pat Walters EPISODE CITATIONS: Articles - American Cockroaches, Racism, and the Ecology of the Slave Ship (https://zpr.io/UNKsMz7ZaLvb) by Lindsay Garcia, Arcadia Books - Pests: How Humans Create Animal Villains (https://zpr.io/6E5wJBM4Kvcv) by Bethany Brookshire The Cockroach Papers (https://zpr.io/CvKePYxEMEAW) by Richard Schweid Cockroach (https://zpr.io/UuEAjmfqKccQ) by Marion Copeland Sign up for our newsletter!! Text us your questions!Randy and Kyle sit down with Milwaukee pastor and author Matt Erickson to explore a different vision of pastoral ministry: not the pastor as CEO, brand manager, or religious expert, but the pastor as gardener. Matt's book, The Pastor as Gardener: A Renewed Vision for Ministry, grows out of real ministry pressure, including moral failures, church decline, the pandemic, and the strain of navigating racial justice and polarization in a multiracial congregation. We dig into why agrarian imagery in Scripture still has bite for modern life, even in an urban church context. The gardener metaphor reframes leadership around cultivation instead of control: planting and watering while admitting we can't manufacture growth. That shift changes what we celebrate, what we fear, and what we measure, especially when the visible “fruit” of ministry looks strong but the hidden “roots” of prayer, integrity, and interior life are neglected. From there, we talk about what shepherding can still mean today, why care for the sick and grieving often gets delegated away, and why pastors need space to evolve without being treated like they've failed. Along the way we touch Gregory of Nyssa, Marilynne Robinson's Gilead, and the pressure for pastors to project certainty in a world where nobody can be an expert at everything.Look for Part 2 of this conversation in a couple weeks.=====Want to support us?The best way is to subscribe to our Patreon. When people are taught that they are “white” and then shown how evil “white” people supposedly are, then it makes sense why they identify with that label and strive to defend the same. But what if “white” is as much of a social construct as “black”? What if many of the people we call “white” and credit with building America or civilization in general were always identified by their cultural heritage? Rome was diverse and founded on Greek philosophy, neither of which were “white.” America was built by the Dutch, Germans, Irish, Scottish, Italians, Chinese, Slavs, etc. Although some may fall into a broad definition of “white” or European, the fact remains that “whites” were not the sole builders of America. What matters first is culture and ethnicity, then region, and finally by modern standards some arbitrary color wheel. It is only when you learn that “white” is meant to be an insult, like use of the abbreviation “nazi,” that it all begins to make more sense. The same is true for “white trash,” which was the basis of contemporary “black culture.” Additionally, the idea that “white” people built the modern world is just fundamentally not true. Whatever “white” is, these people certainly contributed to the building of civilization, even more than certain other groups. But China developed the compass, paper, modern money, gun powder, and printing — in fact, the oldest printed book in the world is not a Gutenberg Bible, it is a Buddhist text predating that book by over 500 years. Doesn't this count for something? The growing rebellious use of racial insults and the embracing of undefinable or inaccurate “white culture” is not what it all may seem. The idea that “blacks” or “whites” invented the world is without doubt part of an op.*The is the FREE archive, which includes advertisements. Dan & Manny welcome back longtime friend & Nostalgia Test Podcast all-star Steve Herrera to put The Delta Force (1986) & Sidekicks (1992) to the ultimate test—THE NOSTALGIA TEST! “I feel like we were fed a pack of fucking lies as kids.” -Manny Coelho In honor of Chuck Norris' life, the boys decided to do a double feature of his movies and, oh boy, not so sure if this was a good idea. The Delta Force & Sidekicks are examples of two very different parts of Chuck Norris' career, the mass explosions fighting stereotyped bad guys one-liners guns guns guns film and the “comedy” making fun of marginalized groups stereotyped characters weird sexual undertones one liners what is the plot movies. Sure, Dan & Manny could have done a really good movie of Chuck Norris' like Lone Wolf McQuade, but is that even good? Dan, Manny, & Steve try to figure out what these two movies are actually about, they wrestle with the fact that our collective nostalgia for the 80s and 90s is possibly clouding the social judgement of what's actually good from our childhoods, and Dan lays down the law about the Nostalgia content creator community. They also take down gym teachers, tell a funny story of actual quicksand at their high school in Mineola, and try to deal with the high amount of racism that these two movies seem to be able to pack in for some reason. Also, what they hell is The Delta Force even about? Is Sidekicks a mass hallucination, Joe Piscopo (that's all that needs to be said), and why is the dad character in Sidekicks one of the most useless characters in cinema history. The guys give major props to the late great Jonathan Brandis for acting his ass off and they name the true sidekick of Sidekicks. Acts 6In those days when the number of disciples was increasing, the Hellenistic Jews among them complained against the Hebraic Jews because their widows were being overlooked in the daily distribution of food. So the Twelve gathered all the disciples together and said, “It would not be right for us to neglect the ministry of the word of God in order to wait on tables. Brothers and sisters, choose seven men from among you who are known to be full of the Spirit and wisdom. We will turn this responsibility over to them and will give our attention to prayer and the ministry of the word.”This proposal pleased the whole group. They chose Stephen, a man full of faith and of the Holy Spirit; also Philip, Procorus, Nicanor, Timon, Parmenas, and Nicolas from Antioch, a convert to Judaism. They presented these men to the apostles, who prayed and laid their hands on them.So the word of God spread. The number of disciples in Jerusalem increased rapidly, and a large number of priests became obedient to the faith.SummaryIn this episode of "Right Side Up," Danielle Strickland and James Sholl explore themes of inclusion, power dynamics, and community within the early church, as depicted in Acts 6. They discuss how the early church addressed issues of neglect and racism by empowering marginalized groups, specifically the Hellenists, to lead and distribute resources. This approach is highlighted as a model for modern communities to correct systemic imbalances and foster inclusivity. The conversation emphasizes the importance of listening to underrepresented voices and sharing power to reflect the spirit of the gospel. This series was originally preached at James' church Wellspring Worship Centre - a diverse and Jesus loving community found in Toronto. The Context of White Supremacy hosts the Counter-Racist Weekly Review 05/23/26. This broadcast examines current events from across the globe to learn what's happening in all areas of people activity. We cultivate Counter-Racist Media Literacy by scrutinizing journalists' word choices and using logic to deconstruct what is reported as "news." We'll use these sessions to hone our use of terms as tools to reveal truth, neutralize Racists/White people. #ANTIBLACKNESS This week, we analyze the ongoing enforcement of racial terror and state policy: 1. Good Riddance To Mark Fuhrman: One of the key figures in the 1995 "Trial of the Century." Fuhrman was taped bragging about his White Supremacist conduct and violently assaulting people under the "color of law." He died in Idaho - which is a White Supremacist enclave. 2. San Diego Mosque Shooting: A pair of White Supremacist teens launched a White Terrorist attack at the Islamic Center of San Diego. 3 non-white people were killed in the attack, while the alleged White gunman left behind a manifesto explaining their Racism. 3. Tim Horton's Death of Black Matron: 75-year-old Anita Ann Grayson died after an altercation at a Fort Wayne, Indiana restaurant. Grayson alleged that she was treated poorly in the drive thru window. She went inside to confront the staff and a physical altercation ensued. Grayson slumped to the floor and was later pronounced dead. This the second incident this year where a black female has been killed as a result of a drive thru dispute. #EndStageWhiteSupremacy #TheCOWS17Years INVEST in The COWS – [http://paypal.me/TheCOWS](http://paypal.me/TheCOWS) Cash App: [https://cash.app/$TheCOWS](https://cash.app/$TheCOWS) CALL IN NUMBER: 720.716.7300 CODE 564943#
In the aftermath of October 7, 2023, Canada saw a rise in anti-Palestinian and anti-Arab and antisemitism that affects many areas of life and work for Canadians. So begins a report produced by the Islamophobia Research Hub at York University. The incidents documented in the report portray a climate of repression, violence and censorship across the country and throughout multiple aspects of life in Canada. We spoke with Nadia Hasan, author of the report, in early November last year.
The Katherine Massey Book Club @ The C.O.W.S. hosts the 6th session on Michelle Alexander's The New Jim Crow: Mass Incarceration In the Age of Colorblindness. Last week's review included: 1. The "Basically" Deception & The Audio Patch: Alexander claims the 10th Anniversary edition is "basically" the same book, yet we discovered she began "slipping in" massive, structural data, like the $36B Clinton-era housing-to-prison strike, as early as the 2012 audio book. This is Administrative Concealing of her own original errors. She's been running a "live patch" on her scholarship for 14 years to look more "radical" than she actually is. 2. The COINTELPRO Foundation: Alexander details the prosecutorial work of the drug war involves deceiving black male defendants, the use of paid, unidentified, often coerced informants, wiretapping, and draconian sentences to compel suspects to accept plea bargains and/or plead guilty to lesser sentences. On this week's Neutralizing Workplace Racism 05/21/26, we confront the ultimate breakdown of workplace safety under the global System of White Supremacy. We unpack the tragic death of Quusaa "Q" Margarsa, a beloved 25-year-old employee who was fatally shot while working at a Lake City Way tavern in Seattle. Gus deconstructs how structural vulnerabilities impact Victims of Racism on the job, analyzing the systemic failures that leave non-white workers exposed to fatal violence within corporate and retail environments. Additionally, we provide a critical follow-up update regarding a non-white male listener, “The Geechee Hurricane,” who was wrongfully terminated after courageously reporting being a victim of sexual abuse by a white co-worker. We expose the insidious workplace culture that followed, where colleagues exploited the trauma for their own amusements and spread harmful rumors across the company. Gus offers direct, counter-racist strategies for navigating targeted retaliation, hostile workplace harassment, and legal recourse when the White Supremacist managers turn against the us. #YoungBlackAndUnemployed #NeutralizingWorkplaceRacism #ChaunciaMeekins #TheCOWS17Years INVEST in The COWS – [http://paypal.me/TheCOWS](http://paypal.me/TheCOWS) Cash App: [https://cash.app/$TheCOWS](https://cash.app/$TheCOWS) CALL IN NUMBER: 720.716.7300 CODE 564943#

On this episode of “The Kylee Cast,” Devon Kurtz, director of public safety policy at the Cicero Institute, joins Federalist Managing Editor Kylee Griswold to discuss a new homelessness bill in Louisiana that Democrats are smearing as — surprise, surprise — the new “Jim Crow.” Kylee and Devon talk about the root causes of homelessness, failed “housing first” policies, law enforcement and deinstitutionalization, and so much more!Read Devon's Federalist article about the Louisiana bill here: https://thefederalist.com/2026/04/27/with-louisiana-homeless-bill-democrats-once-again-smear-sensible-policy-as-jim-crow/The Federalist Foundation is a nonprofit, and we depend entirely on our listeners and readers — not corporations. A mix of global tension, celebrity headlines, and real talk had listeners locked in as the show kicked off with a serious warning from Iran, escalating fears of a wider conflict. Recent reports highlight growing instability, with Iran signaling it’s prepared to expand the fight beyond the region if attacked again, raising concerns about a much larger global confrontation. Meanwhile, things hit closer to home as boxing legend Sugar Ray Leonard’s son was arrested after allegedly violating a restraining order at his father’s Los Angeles home, adding another layer of complexity to a deeply personal family situation. On the lifestyle and entertainment side, Keke Palmer opened up about her battle with a hormonal condition now known as PMOS, revealing how years of “crippling” acne and being dismissed by doctors took a toll on her mental health before she finally got answers. And in comedy news, Chelsea Handler didn’t hold back when addressing controversial jokes from a recent Kevin Hart roast, calling out what she described as racist and offensive material—especially jokes involving Black trauma—while stressing that comedy doesn’t have to cross the line to be funny. In this week's episode the Powell men discuss the enduring damage that America's racists continue to inflict on the country. Children Are Listening: Hate Speech, Trump & America's Growing Violence Problem Two teenagers carried out a horrifying hate crime at a mosque in San Diego, killing three people. But the bigger question is: where does this kind of hatred come from? Children are not born hating Muslims, LGBTQ people, immigrants, or people of color. They learn it — from adults, media, politicians, social media, and the culture around them. Today, hate speech is treated like entertainment. Islamophobia, homophobia, transphobia, racism — people dismiss it as “just opinions,” until violence happens. Then everyone acts shocked. But words matter, especially when young people are listening. And no public figure in America has normalized division and cruelty more than Donald Trump. Whether it's immigrants, LGBTQ people, Muslims, or political enemies, the message spreads far beyond rallies and cable news. The children are listening. And sometimes, they act. Plus: The Heart Attack Grill in Las Vegas is shutting down, and the reason says a lot about America's economy. Businesses are increasingly abandoning average Americans and focusing only on wealthier consumers. What does that say about where the country is headed? The Karel Cast dives into politics, culture, media, and the stories shaping our lives — with honesty, humor, and humanity. ORRA The Informationalist of the Network of Awareness interviews four-time bestselling author and community organizer Elohim Ali about “racism as a spell,” arguing that systems (“matrices”) are created by stories that condition the subconscious. Ali defines “spell” via etymology as both spelling and “story/command,” citing news narratives, schooling's “nine-to-five career spell,” and how fear enables control. He traces the modern black/white race construct to colonial Virginia laws created to divide poor Europeans and Africans after Bacon's Rebellion, framing segregation as a tool to prevent unified uprisings, and discusses how race narratives are reinforced through media and education. The conversation touches on religion-based proto-racism, misuse of accusations like antisemitism as a shield for elites, and personal transformation away from “white people are the devil.” They propose research, self-awareness of bias, cross-cultural contact, community-building, and spiritual awakening to deprogram trauma loops and cultivate lived unity consciousness. The Katherine Massey Book Club @ The C.O.W.S. hosts the 5th session on Michelle Alexander's The New Jim Crow: Mass Incarceration In the Age of Colorblindness. She willfully ignores that most of these tactics were hallmarks of the COINTELPRO campaign against innocent black people who were struggling to counter-racism, not peddle drugs. 3. Black People Have Never Been Free: Michelle with 1 White parent told us: “Once upon a time, it was generally understood that the police could not stop and search someone without a warrant unless there was probable cause to believe that the individual was engaged in criminal activity.” All of the book club members united to point out the insanity of such a claim. From Pete Hegseth's erasure of Black Americans and women from military history, to Donald Trump's dismantling of DEI programs across the federal government, to Stephen Miller's openly stated goal of ethnic cleansing, Hawk connects the dots between policy and intent. The firing of hundreds of thousands of Black federal workers, the targeting of universities and corporations with DEI policies, and the Supreme Court's systematic gutting of the Voting Rights Act are all part of the same pattern. Chief Justice John Roberts, Clarence Thomas, and Samuel Alito have spent decades working to eradicate the Voting Rights Act, the landmark 1965 legislation that Hawk argues represented the first true moment the United States became a functioning representative democracy. That legacy is now being dismantled in real time. Hawk makes the case that in 2026, there is no longer any reasonable argument that a Trump voter is not fully aware of what they are supporting. Racism, misogyny, bigotry, homophobia, and transphobia were not hidden in the 2024 campaign — they were the campaign. If the shoe fits, it fits. That children who grow up without a father are five times more likely to live in poverty and commit crime; nine times more likely to drop out of school and 20 times more likely to end up in prison.” The Journal of Research on Adolescence confirms that even after controlling for varying levels of household income, kids in father-absent homes are more likely to end up in jail. And kids who never had a father in the house are the most likely to wind up behind bars. In 1960, 5 percent of America's children entered the world without a mother and father married to each other. By 1980 it was 18 percent, by 2000 it had risen to 33 percent, and fifteen years later, the number reached 41 percent. For blacks, even during slavery when marriage for slaves was illegal, black children were more likely than today to be raised by both their mother and father. Economist Walter Williams has written that, according to census data, from 1890 to 1940, a black child was more likely to grow up with married parents than a white child. For blacks, out-of-wedlock births have gone from 25 percent in 1965 to 73 percent in 2015. For whites, from less than 5 percent to over 25 percent. And for Hispanics, out-of-wedlock births have risen to 53 percent. What happened to fathers? The answer is found in a basic law of economics: If you subsidize undesirable behavior you will get more undesirable behavior. In 1949, the nation's poverty rate was 34 percent. By 1965, it was cut in half, to 17 percent -- all before President Lyndon Johnson's so-called War on Poverty. But after that war began in 1965, poverty began to flat line. From 1965 until now, the government has spent over $20 trillion to fight poverty. The poverty rate has remained unchanged, but the relationship between poor men and women has changed – dramatically. That's because our generous welfare system allows women, in effect, to marry the government. And this makes it all too easy for men to abandon their traditional moral and financial responsibilities. Psychologists call such dependency "learned helplessness." How do we know that the welfare state creates disincentives that hurt the very people we are trying to help? They tell us. In 1985, the Los Angeles Times asked both the poor and the non-poor whether poor women "often" have children to get additional benefits. Most of the non-poor respondents said no. However, 64 percent of poor respondents said yes. Now, who do you think is in a better position to know? Tupac Shakur, the late rapper, once said: "I know for a fact that had I had a father, I'd have some discipline. I'd have more confidence." He admitted he began running with gangs because he wanted the things a father gives to a child, especially to a boy: structure and protection. “Your mother cannot calm you down the way a man can,” Shakur said. “You need a man to teach you how to be a man." Deep in the Ozarks, outside a tiny Arkansas town, a group of white nationalists believe they've found a legal loophole to resurrect segregation in America. They call it Return to the Land — a “traditionalist” community built around shared values, shared land… and shared race. Will they be shut down? Or will the be allowed to have, essentially, a new Sundown town?
