What is the bodily ailment of Paul and why was that the cause of Paul preaching the gospel to the Galatians first? I'm still confused about how we define 'elementary principles'. Are they the 'bits' that make up the things around us or 'rules'? or both? Or are rules an example of an 'elementary principle'? In regards to the elementary principles (4:3), other bible translations say "elemental spirits." Is the same idea of rules still valid, and what does it mean by "spirits"? Should new Christians post-Jesus, try to stick to the rules to receive that "training" of the law to know how to use freedom well? If God gave the OT law/rules to train his people to know how to do what is right, are we exempt from needing the same training? Is the value in setting rules for ourselves, not hard rules, but "defaults", such that we may have triggers when in we are beginning to act in sinfulness? How does Paul's allegorical interpretation of the story of Sarah and Hagar impact our understanding of Old Testament interpretation in general? Should we interpret more Old Testament passages allegorically, or is this a one-off from Paul?  Who does the quote in v27 refer to? Is it Sarah, or the 'Jerusalem above'? How does it support Paul's argument?

Can something be 'good' and not 'pleasing to God'? For example, if an unbeliever cares for the poor, would it be correct to say that their action was 'good' but not 'pleasing to God', because of their unbelief? Or does their unbelief make it 'evil'? Are there 'good' actions and 'evil' actions, or 'obedient' and 'disobedient' actions or is it just 'obedience' vs 'disobedience'? You mentioned the idea of 'imperfect fruit' for those who have genuine faith - does that mean our faith in Jesus who makes us right with God enables us to have the ability to do good? But we still don't always do good? If freedom is achieved by living through faith in Jesus, what does this look like in actions, day to day life etc. If it is not by laws/rules and restraint? How would I present this to a non-Christian friend?

Text us!SummaryIn this episode of the Marketecture podcast, host Ari Paparo is joined by Eric Franchi and Tim Rowe, founder of the OOH Insider podcast, to dive into the world of Out-of-Home (OOH) and Digital Out-of-Home (DOOH) advertising. The episode kicks off with an exciting scoop about a recently published deck from DoubleClick (get it here), revealing insights that highlight their conservative estimates regarding media revenue.  From there, it's an action-packed conversation about Why DOOH Matters, how it's being traded, and speculation on winners and losers as the programmatic pieces fall into place.TakeawaysMarket Size and Growth: The global DOOH market is approximately $21 billion, with $5 billion in the U.S. Despite growth, its share of advertising spend is declining, indicating challenges in capturing a larger market share.Fragmentation Challenges: The DOOH industry faces fragmentation, with many screens and networks leading to inefficiencies. Most programmatic transactions occur through private marketplaces (PMPs), complicating the buying process.Future of DOOH: The integration of DOOH with connected TV (CTV) and advancements in technology, such as first-party data utilization, are seen as key opportunities for growth and innovation in the sector.Attention Measurement: The collaboration between IAB and MRC for attention measurement accreditation is a significant step towards validating attention as a metric in advertising, which could benefit OOH advertising strategies.Chapters00:02:05 - Why Care About OOH/DOOH?00:02:23 - Case for DOOH00:02:49 - Market Size of DOOH00:04:07 - Growth Challenges in DOOH00:07:16 - Programmatic Transactions in DOOH00:08:03 - Leading Programmatic Companies in DOOH00:13:08 - Measurement in DOOH00:16:33 - Future of DOOH and CTV Convergence00:21:45 - Roku's Role in DOOH00:37:41 - Attention Measurement in OOHCheck out the Marketecture Podcast at https://www.marketecture.tv/Join OOH Insider and Placer.ai at The Premier Leadership Conference for those Building the Future with Location Analytics, December 10th, 2024 at Pier Sixty. Get insights on prioritizing effective merchandising over basic marketing, the risks and rewards of making significant business bets, and the common trap of chasing new ventures at the expense of expanding what already works. This episode is packed with actionable strategies for anyone looking to elevate their agency-operational acumen.Scaling agencies is hard BUT there are a few common mistakes that can hinder growth and make them less attractive as acquisition targets - how do you know if you're making them or not?Thinking about starting an agency? Here's how to know when it's the right time.00:03:29-00:03:39 - "I'm making so much money for these guys. I should be doing this on my own and starting something else."BEWARE The Brilliant Bottleneck - Does this sound like anyone you know?00:06:53-00:07:04 - "The Brilliant Bottleneck is where they are so involved in working in the business and they know where all of the deep tribal knowledge is buried. They know how it should look and feel, (so much so) that they themselves become the thing preventing the agency from actually scaling."The #1 Shortcut to Building a Better Business00:16:09-00:16:19 - "It's a little bit of good old fashioned roll up your sleeves and figure it out. Talk to humans."Is the silent killer lurking in your day-to-day?00:24:07-00:24:17 - "I think shiny object syndrome is the number one killer of great entrepreneurs because it pushes your focus to multiple places."Top 3 Things I Learned From Kyle Hunt:Avoid being the "brilliant bottleneck": Agency owners should learn to delegate and trust their team, rather than being the bottleneck for decision-making and progress. This allows for scalability and growth.Be cautious of shiny object syndrome: Agency owners should resist the temptation to constantly chase new strategies and channels. Instead, focus on doing more of what is already working and optimizing those areas for better results.Plan ahead for peak seasons: Proper planning and preparation are key for successful peak seasons like Black Friday and Cyber Monday. Start planning well in advance to ensure smooth operations and avoid last-minute chaos.

Vaccines may be here, but the need for COVID-19 testing is not going away any time soon. That's the prediction of Tim Rowe, the CEO of CIC Health, a private company that has been overseeing COVID-19 testing programs and also running mass vaccination sites in Massachusetts. “We are going to have a period of time where not everyone has the vaccine,” Rowe said. “And it's a little unclear what younger age groups will yet have the vaccine. And we have a world which is going to have storming COVID.” Rowe said the current forecast is it will take four years for the world to reach herd immunity, which means there is the possibility of new virus strains developing in other countries and migrating to the US. “So if you are a policymaker making a plan for the fall and you want kids in school and you want to get us back to something like the economy that we had prior to the pandemic, you probably want to have in place a system that you know is going to work to track is there disease spreading?” Rowe said. “If it's spreading, what strains are they? And if there's a significant population which is not protected by vaccines - and that may be a lot of the kids in this country - you want to make sure that they're not spreading that disease within society.”

Sure, it can (and often does) connect marginalized communities to resources, but many people lack the access necessary to sustain meaningful growth, both professionally and financially. In that way, what technology provides for some communities, it limits in others. This episode, our guests talk us through a topic that many of us take for granted: access to the internet and the impact of connectivity (or lack of) to our economy and society. We’ll hear about web access as a basic human right, the technology impact of the pandemic on communities of color, and finally how Boston is emerging from this crisis with a plan to improve access, connectivity, and quality of life for everyone. Highlights from this episode: Christina Luconi (Chief People Officer at Rapid7) introduces the idea of “Tech Privilege” alongside other issues of privilege highlighted by the pandemic Pam Reeve (Chair of The Commonwealth Institute, former CEO of Lightbridge, Inc.) digs into internet access as a basic human right Director of Digital Transformation at Microsoft’s Airband Initiative, Aimee Sprung, discusses how the pandemic put a spotlight on connectivity gaps Katherine Newman, the System Chancellor for Academic Programs and SVP for Economic Development at UMass, parses out the nuances of access and opportunity Joshua Ness (Sr Manager at Verizon 5G Labs) tells us how 5G will help bridge existing digital divides Cambridge Innovation Center’s founder and CEO, Tim Rowe, explains how spaces can shape inclusive and diverse communities while providing access to the internet and technology So, follow us on our journey this season as we investigate Boston’s challenges as a microcosm for bigger issues of equity and access. Some of them are well intended, but too often, the organizations that put these facilities together have a bit of a field of dreams mindset, where, if they just build the office space, the innovative entrepreneurs will come, and then the organizers will find themselves at the center of a thriving ecosystem. Sometimes that actually happens, but usually not. But when it works, when all the pieces really do come together, amazing things happen. And a community develops that is far greater than the sum of its parts. So what’s the real difference between the innovation spaces that flourish compared to those that stagnate? Well, today we get a chance to sit down and talk to Tim Rowe, CEO of Cambridge Innovation Center, or CIC, the largest innovation center in the world. And we have a conversation about what’s really involved in building an entrepreneurial community, and the CIC's progress on building a very large-scale innovation center right here in Tokyo. It’s a truly insightful conversation, so let’s hear from our sponsors and get right to our interview.     [pro_ad_display_adzone id="1411"  info_text="Sponsored by"  font_color="grey"  ] [Interview] Romero: So I’m sitting here with Tim Rowe, CEO of the Cambridge Innovation Center. This is a pretty incredible space that you have been running for 15 years now. So rather than having me explain it, can you tell us a bit about what CIC is and how it came to be? Rowe: Sure. CIC is the world’s largest space for startups, that is our Cambridge Space, specifically. We’re also in Boston, Miami, St. Louis, Rotterdam Netherlands, at the moment and we’ve got some more in the works. We call ourselves a community of startups. So we’re not an accelerator where we’re telling people how to build their business or investing in them. We have brought 15 venture capital funds into our location in Cambridge and some of our other locations, so there is access to money, but it’s more of an open platform. Romero: So the VCs actually have offices there? Rowe: Their entire firm is there. Romero: In terms of business, though, it’s a real estate business. You’re renting office space. You don’t make money by making investments or… Rowe: Yea. So we don’t think about it that way. You could argue that a university is mostly made up of real estate, but that’s not its purpose.

Before I launched my media startup in 2012, I never imagined that one day, I would form a company to create a digital platform for young people from China and America to share personal stories and to build a network community. That was a quantum leap from my job for decades as a TV journalist writing and producing for American network news in New York. But over the years, I knew I was also getting restless and curious about what else I could do with my background as a producer and storyteller.  I had served as a volunteer in different roles and contexts, including being a mentor to young Asian journalists, and a “Big Sister” to a “Little Sister” born to Chinese parents from Fujian province struggling to adjust to new immigrant life in America. These were highly rewarding work. But I was never ready to quit my job to pursue that type of work full time.   I let my restlessness and curiosity sit for one year after another. I did nothing to tend to them. I enjoyed the stable income, a stimulating work environment and exciting lifestyle in New York. In essence, I lacked motivation to jump ship.  But one day, something pushed me over the edge. My job at ABC News was on the line. The network was about to restructure the news division; thousands of jobs including mine could be cut. I faced a fork in the road that offered two choices – I could accept a buyout that gives me the cash and freedom to pursue something else, or I could sit tight and let the axe fall where they may once my contract expires in a year. Although there was no imminent threat that I would be laid off, somehow, the idea of taking the money to pursue something else was highly liberating.  I had already invested more than twenty years of my life working in American network news, I felt I had maximized the opportunities available to me. When I talked to my close friends and advisors, I was encouraged to hear that they thought I had always been an entrepreneurial problem-solver. Their optimism boosted my optimism. Once I decided to take a leap, a net appears. Like Q, founder of 2RedBeans, I dared not quit my job before I felt I had some resources and time to take risk. How do you think about risk?   In our two previous episodes with Q, she shared her incredible search for husband in “Finding Love in America: Reality Bites and Are You The One?” In this episode “Is Entrepreneurship Right For You?” we listen to the back story of Q’s journey as an entrepreneur. We have included your voices in this conversation – including this question “is it every too early to become an entrepreneur?” I have also interviewed Tim Rowe, founder of CIC (Cambridge Innovation Center) who began his entrepreneurial life when he was a kid in middle school!   Listen to “One in a Billion” “Is Entrepreneurship Right for You?”  In our next episode, “Face Our Fears” I’ll talk with two young Chinese who recently graduated from Harvard and Boston University about unpredictable challenges they face in trying to land their dream job in America. What is holding you back from getting your foot in the door?  What scares you? How do you manage your anxiety? We want to include you in this conversation. To send us your stories, just go to our Facebook page, or our website at ChinaPersonified.com under “Pitch a Story. “   Share your thoughts? Pitch me a story? “One in a Billion” is listening to #China, one person at a time. In this video from NPR’s Science Friday, UT paleontologist Tim Rowe describes his non-invasive technique for looking inside the skulls of dinosaurs by creating hundreds of digital slices. Digital morphology uses high-resolution X-ray computed tomography to create spectacular imagery and animations of biological specimens. With this technology scientists at the university can see what a dinosaur’s brain looked like or examine the famous hominid “Lucy” without touching the fossil. This video was produced by Flora Lichtman for Science Friday.
