Esta tarde hay música y dibujo al mismo tiempo en el programa. Nos visita el músico Kevin Johansen para interpretar algunas de sus canciones más conocidas mientras el historietista, ilustrador, pintor y editor argentino, Liniers, improvisa con sus pinceles y recrea esas canciones en dibujos en tiempo real. Este proyecto, que aúna música e ilustración, lleva en marcha más de quince años y recientemente ha tomado forma en el disco 'Desde que te Madrid', grabado en vivo en el Teatro Albéniz.Con Víctor Mora, en nuestra sección Género fluido, abordamos 'Orlando', la novela de Virginia Woolf, a través de varias obras que se han inspirado en ella. Primero, el documental del filósofo Paul B. Preciado, titulado también Orlando, estrenado en 2023. Y después, la adaptación cinematográfica dirigida por Sally Potter en 1993. Entre ambas películas hay 30 años de diferencia, pero la historia escrita hace casi un siglo por Woolf mantiene su vigencia y frescura.El compositor francés David Letellier, conocido como Kangding Ray, ha recibido el premio Cannes Soundtrack a la mejor banda sonora por su trabajo en Sirat, película del cineasta español Oliver Laxe. El filme también ha sido galardonado con el Premio del Jurado del Festival de Cannes 2025, compartido ex aequo con Sound of Falling, de Mascha Schilinski. Hoy, en el pueblo natal del director gallego, se ha proyectado la película y él mismo ha hablado con la prensa.Cerramos el programa con un viaje al Renacimiento veneciano. Paolo Veronese, figura clave del siglo XVI junto a Tiziano y Tintoretto, es el protagonista de una gran exposición antológica en el Museo del Prado. La muestra, que se inaugura hoy, es la principal apuesta primaveral del museo y ofrece un recorrido completo por la obra de este maestro del color, la elegancia y las composiciones monumentales. Die Alte Pinakothek in München mit ihrer Sammlung alter Meister zählt noch heute zu den spektakulärsten Kunstmuseen in Deutschland. In this webinar, Dr. Anthony Esolen examined three seminal works art: Raphael's "The School of Athens" and two paintings from John Singer Sargent's "The Triumph of Religion" with "The Israelites Oppressed" and "The Messianic Era." The beauty we see, hear, or touch has the power to enter our minds and memories more powerfully than do philosophical or political abstractions expressed in words.As teachers, we must remember this, especially when we want to introduce our students to ways of life embodied in another culture. A painting--even the decorated hilt of a sword--can work wonders. Dr. Anthony Esolen received his A.B. in English Literature from Princeton University and his M.A. and Ph.D. in Renaissance English Literature from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Dr. Esolen has been a professor of literature and humanities for 35 years and is the author or translator of more than 30 books, which include a range of English translations, analyses of culture, literary and Biblical criticisms, meditations on modern education, meditations on the Christian life, and original poetry.Dr. Esolen is a senior editor and regular writer at Touchstone magazine and has published well over 1000 articles in a wide variety of journals. With his wife, Debra, he writes a daily a web magazine, Word & Song, dedicated to language, music, poetry, and classic film.

En este episodio grabado con público en el Teatro del Barrio hablamos de obras de arte que no se podrían entender completamente sin el lugar y el contexto para el que fueron creadas, como las esculturas del Sacro Bosco de Bomarzo, el Parque de los Monstruos diseñado por Pirro Ligorio en el siglo XV. Se nos pone la piel de gallina al hablar de Roma y de las relaciones entre sus obras de arte, recuerdos, tradiciones locales, costumbres, analogías y comparaciones que sólo se pueden hacer en esa ciudad en la que Juanra Sanz visitó con su amiga la basílica of Sant'Agostino in Campo Marzio para ver la 'Madonna dei Pellegrini' o 'di Loreto' de Caravaggio. Hablamos de arte prehistórico en Galicia a través de los petroglifos grabados en rocas –laxes– como los de Os Ballotes o Pedras Minas, en la costa de Pontevedra, y contamos la leyenda de la Pedra do Encanto, en Bamio (Vilagarcía de Arousa), que fue estudiada hace cien años por Fermín Bouza-Brey. También nos preguntamos qué papel juegan los museos en la experiencia del encuentro con obras de arte como el 'David' de Miguel Ángel, 'El Lavatorio' de Tintoretto, las 'Vistas del jardín de Villa Medici en Roma' o 'Las meninas' de Velázquez.

Weneckie kościoły i scuole zamawiały u malarza obrazy ołtarzowe i cykle do dekoracji wnętrz, a dostojnicy Serenissimej swoje wizerunki. Tintoretto malował dożów, senatorów, miejscowych arystokratów i admirałów. "Portret weneckiego admirała" z Muzeum Narodowego w Warszawie jest jego typowym "produktem".

La mostra è a cura di Vito Punzi, direttore Museo Pontificio Santa Casa di Loreto, vede il supporto organizzativo di MondoMostre ed è realizzata in collaborazione con la Delegazione Pontificia per la Santa Casa di Loreto. La mostra consolida la collaborazione tra Fondazione CRC − da sempre attiva nel sostegno e nella promozione di attività culturali finalizzate ad accrescere il ruolo e la riconoscibilità del territorio cuneese come centro di produzione artistica − e Intesa Sanpaolo − che con il Progetto Cultura esprime il proprio impegno per la promozione dell'arte e della cultura nel nostro Paese – dando seguito a quanto realizzato congiuntamente con l'esposizione I colori della fede a Venezia: Tiziano, Tintoretto, Veronese, che si è conclusa ad aprile scorso con un grande successo di pubblico e di critica. La nuova iniziativa espositiva presenta sette dipinti di Lorenzo Lotto (Venezia, 1480 – Loreto, 1556), costituenti il cosiddetto “ciclo lauretano” del pittore, disposti quando egli era ancora in vita presso la Cappella del Coro della chiesa di Santa Maria di Loreto, e due affreschi strappati e portati su tela di Pellegrino Tibaldi (Puria, 1527 – Milano, 1596), originariamente realizzati per la Cappella di San Giovanni della stessa chiesa lauretana. Tutte le nove opere in mostra provengono dal Museo Pontificio Santa Casa di Loreto.Da rimarcare, tra le opere di Lotto in mostra, il San Michele scaccia Lucifero, presentato per la prima volta al pubblico dopo un restauro conclusosi nel settembre di quest'anno, e Adorazione del Bambino, restaurata nell'ambito di Restituzioni 2016, il programma di salvaguardia e valorizzazione del patrimonio del Paese promosso e curato da Intesa Sanpaolo.La mostra intende proporsi come occasione per indicare nuovi percorsi di ricerca in merito alle possibili reciproche influenze tra Lotto e Tibaldi, due artisti di differente cultura, visto il pur breve periodo condiviso dai due nel cantiere lauretano, indagato solo di recente. Uno sguardo alla bibliografia relativa alle opere realizzate da Pellegrino Tibaldi per il Santuario della Santa Casa e alla sua presenza a Loreto tra il 1554 e il 1555 permette di notare subito come questa, per quanto sufficientemente ricca, non presenti studi specifici sulla compresenza in quegli stessi anni nel cantiere lauretano di Lorenzo Lotto. How can you learn about, or teach about, the Renaissance or any great period of human civilization, from dwelling upon the art that the masters produced? If the beauty we see or hear or touch enters our minds and memories more powerfully than do ideas expressed in words, isn't it advisable for the teacher to show how the ideas of a culture are embodied in art? What experience does the student have, for example, when he is taught to "read" two very different paintings of the same subject, one from the early Renaissance and one from the time near its end?In this lecture, Dr. Anthony Esolen answered these questions and more as he walked through four great works of art: "The Annunciation" by Fra Angelico, "The Annunciation" by Jacopo Tintoretto, "Magdalene Penitent" by Donatello, and "Magdalene Penitent" by Caravaggio.Originally from northeastern Pennsylvania and the grandson of southern Italian immigrants, Dr. Anthony Esolen received his A.B. in English Literature from Princeton University and his M.A. and Ph.D. in Renaissance English Literature from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Dr. Esolen serves as Distinguished Professor of Humanities at Thales College.

Paolo Veronese is the third member of the great Venetian late Renaissance trio that also includes Titian and Tintoretto. The church of San Sebastiano in Venice was decorated over 15 years with paintings exclusively by Veronese and is a veritable shrine to the genius of this great painter.

This episode addresses the paintings in the second half of the Chapter Hall of the Scuola, which focus specifically on the theme of food with scenes of “Manna Falling from Heaven” and the “Last Supper.”

Once he completed his paintings for the Albergo, Tintoretto continued the decoration of the Scuola with a series of paintings for the Chapter Hall. These paintings are some of Tintoretto's best and demonstrate his revolutionary approach to painting. 

Tintoretto's paintings in the Albergo (board room) of the Scuola of San Rocco are dramatic representations of the Passion of Jesus Christ. From his tragic “Ecce Homo” all the way to his Hollywood-style “Crucifixion,” Tintoretto produced some of the most innovative and theatrical paintings of the Renaissance.

In 1564, the Scuola of San Rocco announced a competition for the commission for the ceiling paintings of the Albergo (board room) of their meeting house. True to his nature, Tintoretto surprised and outwitted all his competitors. Find out how in this episode!

The Scuola Grande of San Rocco in Venice, Italy, is the only active “scuola,” or confraternity, in the city. It has maintained its original appearance and magnificent decoration – nearly all of which was by Tintoretto - for the last five centuries. This podcast explores the history of the scuola and its importance to Venice.

Dass ästhetische Vorlieben historischem Wandel unterworfen sind, ist eine Binse. Jacopo Tintoretto, der große venezianische Meister des Manierismus wurde lange Zeit an den Maßstäben der vorangegangenen Renaissance gemessen und sein Schaffen entsprechend kritisch beurteilt. Folgt man Curt Glaser und dessen Ausführungen im Berliner Börsen-Courier vom 23. Juli 1923, so setzte eine Neubewertung seiner Person und seines Werkes erst im 20. Jahrhundert ein. Drei frisch erschienene Monographien taugen Glaser zur Untermauerung dieser These. Alle drei streift sein Text aber nur am Rande, um stattdessen seinem eigenen Blick auf Tintoretto weit größeren Raum zu geben. Das ist dennoch höchst interessant, denn Glaser war ein ausgewiesener Kenner und auch bedeutender Sammler der Kunst von der Renaissance bis zur Gegenwart. Große Teile dieser Sammlung musste Glaser in die Auktion geben, als er sich 1933 zunächst ins schweizerische, dann ins italienische und schließlich ins amerikanische Exil begab, wo er 1943 verstarb. Another of the great canvases for the Scuola Grande of San Marco dramatically depicts the episode where the body of the evangelist was discovered. The dark painting is dominated by theatrical chiaroscuro and showcases unconventional characters and gestures.

Fourteen years after exploding onto the art scene in Venice, Tintoretto produced another dramatic work for the Scuola Grande of San Marco. The intense painting depicts the legendary story of two Venetian merchants stealing the body of St. Mark away from Alexandria in the 9th century.

The Venetian painter Tintoretto exploded onto the art scene in his native city with this large canvas depicting St. Mark rescuing one of his devotees from a horrific death.  With its dramatic proscenium characterized by strong foreshortening and dramatic spotlighting, as well as a surprising and daring representation of St. Mark, Tintoretto introduced a style of painting that Venice – or the world – had never seen.

The foundational myths and stories of Venice revolve around the importance of Saint Mark the Evangelist and Venetian relations to Alexandria. The National Gallery of Art in Washington is presenting "Vittore Carpaccio: Master Storyteller of Renaissance Venice," through February 12. The exhibition was curated by Peter Humfrey in collaboration with Andrea Bellieni and Hirschauer. It presents Carpaccio, a Venetian master who worked in the period between Bellini and the rise of Tintoretto, as the producer of spectacular narrative pictures that brought storytelling more fully into the practice of Venetian painters. The exhibition includes 45 paintings and 30 drawings. The NGA and Yale University Press copublished an excellent catalogue. It is available from Indiebound and Amazon for $51-65. Alexander discusses "East of the Pacific: Making Histories of Asian American Art" at Stanford University's Cantor Arts Center. The exhibition engages an American art history centered on transpacific migration and discourse rather than the traditional transatlantic address. It features roughly chronological sections that highlight key narratives in Asian American art between the late nineteenth and twenty-first centuries. "East of the Pacific" is one of the three inaugural Asian American Art Initiative exhibitions at the Cantor. It is on view through February 12. Ebbe così modo di intrattenere rapporti diretti e in alcuni casi molto stretti con i più ricchi e influenti aristocratici dell'oligarchia cittadina. All'interno della mostra spiccano oltre venti dipinti di Rubens, provenienti da musei e collezioni europee e italiane che, sommati a quelli già presenti in città, raggiungono un numero come non vi era a Genova dalla fine del Settecento; da quando, cioè, la crisi dell'aristocrazia con i contraccolpi della Rivoluzione Francese diede avvio a un'inesorabile diaspora di capolavori verso le collezioni del mondo. Mystery and intrigue in Venice are the backdrop for Rob Samborn's debut novel about souls trapped in Tintoretto's Paradise and a Venetian secret society. Today Rob and I chatted about his book the Prisoner of Paradise, and how he chose Venice and Tintoretto's Paradise painting in the Palazzo Ducale for the book's setting and theme. 

Stefano Zuffi"Tiziano e l'immagine della donna nel Cinquecento Veneziano"Milano, Palazzo RealeQuesta mostra parla della donna dipinta da Tiziano e dai suoi contemporanei: di bellezza, eleganza e sensualità, e del ruolo tutto particolare che la loro rappresentazione acquistò nella Venezia del Cinquecento.(Sylvia Ferino)Palazzo Reale apre il 2022 con una grande mostra dedicata all'immagine della donna nel Cinquecento nella pittura del grande maestro Tiziano e dei suoi celebri contemporanei quali Giorgione, Lotto, Palma il Vecchio, Veronese e Tintoretto.La mostra, aperta fino al 5 giugno 2022, è promossa e prodotta da Comune di Milano–Cultura, Palazzo Reale e Skira editore, in collaborazione con il Kunsthistorisches Museum di Vienna. La Fondazione Bracco è Main Partner dell'esposizione, mentre il Corriere della Sera è il Media Partner. VeraLab è Social Media Partner. L'allestimento e la grafica sono progettati da Pierluigi Cerri Studio. La mostra è curata da Sylvia Ferino, già direttrice della Pinacoteca del Kunsthistorisches Museum, coadiuvata da un prestigioso comitato scientifico internazionale composto da noti studiosi del settore, quali Anna Bellavitis, Jane Bridgeman, Enrico Maria Dal Pozzolo, Wencke Deiters, Francesca Del Torre, Charles Hope, Amedeo Quondam. Il libro che accompagna la mostra è pubblicato da Skira in tre edizioni, italiana, tedesca e inglese.Oltre un centinaio le opere esposte di cui 47 dipinti, 16 di Tiziano, molti dei quali in prestito dal Kunsthistorisches Museum di Vienna, cui si aggiungono sculture, oggetti di arte applicata come gioielli, una creazione omaggio di Roberto Capucci a Isabella d'Este (1994), libri e grafica.L'esposizione – afferma la curatrice - aspira a riflettere sul ruolo dominante della donna nella pittura veneziana del XVI secolo, che non ha eguali nella storia della Repubblica o di altre aree della cultura europea del periodo.A partire dal volume di Rona Goffen Titian's Women, pubblicato nel 1997, sono innumerevoli gli studi che si sono concentrati sull'universo femminile nel Rinascimento veneziano. Questa indagine non è tuttavia mai stata posta al centro di una mostra. La struttura portante dell'esposizione affronta dunque un argomento eternamente valido ma anche completamente nuovo, presentando l'immagine femminile attraverso tutto l'ampio spettro delle tematiche possibili e nel contempo mettendo a confronto gli approcci artistici individuali tra Tiziano e gli altri pittori del tempo.Partendo dal tema del ritratto realistico di donne appartenenti a diverse classi sociali, passando a quello fortemente idealizzato delle così dette “belle veneziane” si incontrano via via celebri eroine e sante, fino ad arrivare alle divinità del mito e alle allegorie.Inclusi nella mostra anche i ritratti e gli scritti di famosi poeti che cantarono l'amore ed equipararono la ricerca del bello all'esaltazione della donna e della bellezza femminile, come anche ritratti delle donne scrittrici, nobildonne, cittadine e anche cortigiane.Sono analizzati anche l'abbigliamento e le acconciature femminili sfoggiate nei ritratti, sia reali che ideali, esaminando la moda contemporanea con la sua predilezione per tessuti sontuosi, perle e costosi gioielli.IL POSTO DELLE PAROLEascoltare fa pensarehttps://ilpostodelleparole.it/

Today's service - "For the Love of Art" is conducted by two of our members, both Art lovers  - Janet and Peter Whitham. Janet, an artist since childhood  - talks about her love of painting, the joy of sharing her art amongst her family and friends and seeing it displayed in local restaurants and impromptu galleries that have sprung up to display the works of local artists such as herself. Peter's contribution focuses on the inspirational, religious art of Renaissance Italy, that spanned two centuries. He reflects on the al-fresco and other masterpieces of  Giotto, Masaccio, Michaelangelo, del Castagno, Fra Angelico, Raffaello and Tintoretto - inspired by such biblical references as the temptation of Adam and Eve in the Garden of Eden and the life of Jesus. Their works progressively elevate us from being mere "puppets" that reinforce religious dogma to reflect a growing, humanistic regard for us as "creatures of emotion and intellect". Peter also focuses on the art of Northern Europe such as Jan van Eyck, Grunewald (Crucifixion) and Albrecht Dürer and reflects on the impact of viewing such masterpieces as Rembrandt's "The Night Watch" in the Rijksmuseum.
