POPULARITY
We are living in the era of big tech monopolies, but unlike the oil and gas conglomerates of the past, the underlying problems with Google and Facebook owning or dominating every aspect of the internet are less apparent, especially as these selfsame companies that also dominate the story of the future. IMHO the future debate needs to be re-integrated into civil society. The vision of a 'good future' is not a question of software - it's a question of human-ware. The question is no longer what we CAN do with technology, but what we WANT TO do. Not the possible future but the PREFERRED future. Watch all the videos at https://vimeo.com/showcase/8174508

In this episode, Rev Karla is claiming activism to be sacred and Holy. What is sacred activism? How do we find our calling? We look to Andrew Harvey as an example of how to look at sacred activism. Rev Karla looks back at some sacred activists throughout history including Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., the Dalai Lama, Gandhi, Nelson Mandela, Rosa Parks and Desmond Tutu. We all have the power of each of these great change-makers and sacred activists to make a difference, to stand up to injustices, and to be a sacred activist. It starts with some inner work to make sure we are coming from a place of kindness and compassion. You can read from Rev Karla on sacred activism in her blog post.Other resources for this episode include:How to Set Boundaries with KindnessWhat Does it Really Mean to Be Kind?24 Quotes About Kindness7 Ways to Be Kind When You Really Don't Want To
Episode 101: You don't have to. But you can WANT to. In this weeks episode of the Strategic Mindset podcast I dig into the emotional fuel you use to run your business...from small tasks to big. "Wanting to" feels so very different than telling yourself you "have to" or "should". This impacts how you see the past of what you've been doing, your experience of your business and the actual words that come out of your mouth as you're creating. Learning to "WANT TO" is a skill that will change how you feel in your body, how often you create from flow and your overall enjoyment of your business as you are in the phase of creating the results you want.
Eighty-fourth Episode released on 12/07/2020. Happy Monday y'all. Hope y'all had another good weekend. Today's episode was posted a little late cause I was working on other content and I wasn't around my laptop until later in the day. Still nonetheless here we are and I had a personal friend reach out for me to discuss topic #1 on this one. I touch on understanding and dealing with hate, which I think a lot of us go through, whether we admit it or not. We always feel like we got people watching us and possibly hating on what we are up to. Second, I go into posting on social media what we want to and take those second guessing moments of not posting and be able to reanalyze them and see if we should really be posting that content. Cause we WANT TO. Don't post just because but if you have any valid reasons that make sense in your head. Go for it. and ignore what people think, listen to yourself. Lastly, I started off Sunday (when I recorded) in a bad mood, and we're all going to have shitty days. Can we flip them to positive ones easily? I don't know if we ALWAYS CAN but we sure can try. Thank y'all for the continued support. Still thrilled to be bringing you more content and I appreciate any and all feedback. Continuing to use my voice to spread growth to the world in my own way. Today's episode touches on the following topics: 1. Understanding and dealing with hate 2. Pondering if you should post certain content on social media 3. Bad mood central, can we flip it? #BlackLivesMatter Thank you and I'll catch you later. Transcript:Hi! Welcome to this week’s training. I’m Sherri Wilson, an educator, strategist, and introverted entrepreneur that empowers other introverted entrepreneurs the art of persuasion and influence so you can communicate your message clearly and confidently.Recently, I had writer’s block. The good thing about batch writing your training notes is you get it done in less time and have less stress. But the bad thing about it is that it’s not always easy to know what to write about. So what I do is I go to my favorite blog sites and read some of their articles to get inspired. Well, this thought from theintrovertentrepreneur.com founder Beth Buelow hit me between the eyes and I knew instantly what I wanted to talk about!Listen to this:One rainy afternoon a few years ago, I was driving into Seattle for a networking event when my husband called me on my cell. I answered (this was pre-hands-free law) and listened, noting the barely perceptible panic in his voice: something unexpected had come up, and he needed the car for an off-site meeting. Since I was in the car, traveling up I-5 at 65mph in the opposite direction from him, he clearly had a problem. There was a time when I would have sighed, said, “I’ll be right there,” and gotten off at the next exit and turned around. He called me with a problem; I had to save the day, right? I would have felt mildly annoyed but, in a twisted way, virtuous for having come to his rescue and fixed his problem. But that’s not how this story ends. I listened to his description of the situation and said, “Oh dear, I’m sorry to hear that. How else can you get to the meeting?”We brainstormed for a moment, he said, “I’ll figure it out,” and we hung up. And I forgot about the conversation until I got home later that evening. This might not be a big deal to some people, but it was a true turning point for me. It was one of the first times I’d intentionally taken a concept I use in coaching and put it into practice personally: view and hold others as whole, capable, and resourceful. While the words are simple, the concept is a game-changer.If I choose to hold someone else as whole, capable, and resourceful, I see her not as a person to rescue, but a person to respect. Not broken, but healthy. Not helpless, but self-reliant. Not clueless, but creative. What?!!! OMG! View and hold others as WHOLE, CAPABLE, AND RESOURCESFUL. The reason this struck me as so relevant to us introverted entrepreneurs is that it can be really hard for us to say “no.” I think it’s actually a human problem not just an introvert problem, but the majority of introverts are S personality styles—accommodating, tactful, diplomatic, nurturing, salt of the earth, altruistic, safe, accepting—you get the point. IT CAN BE REALLY HARD FOR S PERSONALITIES TO SAY “NO.” And if you think about it, some situations are designed to make it hard to say “no.” The request from your boss or best friend or mother-in-law. The salesman you feel pressured to buy something from. The list goes on. What happens is we enter a martyr complex of saying “yes” and doing things we really don’t want to do. And to make it worse, sometimes we passively aggressively LET the other person know we really don’t want to be there doing what we’re doing. If You Really Don’t Want To, Don’t!Years ago, I had a problem saying No.” My main reason is I didn’t want people to get mad at me or let them down. So I’d say “yes” and then either never do it or be fussy the whole time on the inside. Then one day I was in this Christian bookstore and a lady asked me to help with some ladies Bible study and I was about to give my auto-yes (you know…the one where you just blurt out “yes” like someone else is in control. Push the button and get “yes” syndrome) when Holy Spirit stopped me and I heard this whisper, “If you really don’t want to do it, say “no.” Be very cautious in what you agree to.” So I said NO. The person didn’t looked please but from that point on I was free to say “no.” And I also learned that keeping my word was very important to God and I needed to create a lifestyle that made that easier. I’ve never ever thought of how empowering it can be to not “rescue” people like we sometimes feel the need to do. And often we do it when we’re not even asked! And that to me, makes saying “no” at times even more important. What if our “yes” is actually hurting the person and not allowing them to step up to the plate, solve their problems and grow as people?!Recently, my husband made a shift after 7 plus years of saying “yes” to his own hurt and others. He is a property manager and when he was hired, his only job was to collect money. Whatever he collected, he received a commission. But what happened is that he ended up doing ALL of the maintenance work, renting them out at times, and anything else you can imagine. He basically ran someone else’s business with all of the stress like it was his. What happened is that the hours he put in, put the commission pay he received at less than minimum wage! I finally told him that he could get a job with less stress and make more and on top of that, his “help” would be forced to step up and do the work. With the current situation, they didn’t need to because he did it all. Guess what. He took my advice. Got a job and his hired help stepped up to the plate! He gets paid for only what he was originally hired to do. At first, it was a transition because the owner of the properties was used to the free labor and still resents the fact that my husband got a job and couldn’t devote his full attention to his business. His hired help had to also adjust and get past the initial “I DON’T KNOW WHAT I’M DOING” and figure it out. How to Say “No” GracefullySo here are some tips to say “no” gracefully: 1. Have them email you the details. This gives you a way out of the awkward moment and lets you see what all is involved and decide if maybe you do want to do what they’re asking. But remember your trade-off for doing it. I like to get what exactly I’ll be doing, when, how many hours it will take, etc. If you decide it won’t work for you, politely email them back that you can’t at this time. Thank them for considering you. 2. Don’t give them a “why.”When you say “no” and then give them the why for it, they might change the request to accommodate your why and things can get awkward. Let’s say someone invites you to an event, but you tell them that you can’t because you don’t have a sitter. They can say that you can bring your kids. If not careful, your “no” will look like a bartering session.3. Awkwardly pause.Pause for about three seconds after the request and then politely decline. It throws people off and lessens the odds of them trying to convince you. 4. Offer another option.I actually use this quite a bit. When someone asks me if I can do something and I decline, I’ll point them to a person who might be able to help them or offer a suggestion that eliminates the need for anyone at all. 5. Use humor. This can work both in person but really well in an email. Be creative.6. Compromise. If you can’t do all of the request but can part of it and it not require a trade-off, go for it. I’ve done this plenty of times, too. I’ll let people know I can do this, this, and that but someone else or you will need to do the other things. More often then not, they ask someone else for all of the request. Other times, I do the parts I can and not lose my focus.7. A soft “no.”This is a definitely “no” now, but keep me in mind for a future request. Or I can’t now, but at the end of next month, I’ll be available. 8. Say “Yes. What should I eliminate to do this for you?”This can work in a professional environment really well. If you’re the one that always gets extra work thrown at you because you’re the dependable one, it’s probably time to say you’d be happy to do the request, but which other project do they want you to put on hold or hand off. Beth wrote another incredible thought for us introverts that I want to leave you with:So much of being a healthy, happy introvert is about managing our energy. To do that, we often find we need to establish boundaries: around our quiet time, our work spaces, our social interaction. And depending on our personality, we might find those boundaries frequently being violated because of our equal need to help (to be of service), to feel needed, to show love by being the shoulder to cry on or the sympathetic ear.Being “The Fixer” is a comfortable role, especially for the introvert who almost feels relief when there’s a problem to focus on (which steers attention away from the social aspect of the interaction).

We all want to raise good men. But how? It's one thing to WANT To raise good men, and another to figure out what that means on a daily basis. Exactly HOW do we raise good men? Aaron Gouveia is the author of Raising Boys to be Good Men: A Parent's Guide to Bringing Up Happy Sons in a World Filled with Toxic Masculinity. He's also the founder of the Daddy Files and dad to 3 boys, currently ages 12, 7 and 4. "When I first heard the term 'toxic masculinity,' I did what most men do: I rolled my eyes and thought, 'Stop trying to vilify masculinity.'" Aaron says. "It took years for me to really understand what it is -- and it's a million different things. It's death by a thousand paper cuts." Stereotypical expectations of masculinity are so embedded in our culture that they're everywhere -- and most of us unwittingly contribute to the perpetuation of these not-very-helpful stereotypes. Parenting 3 boys (& writing the book) forced Aaron to reflect on his actions in the past and it "wasn't pretty," he said. "This book is a laundry list of thing I did that contributed to a problem I thought I was fighting against," Aaron says. Listening -- really listening -- to others, including stay-at-home dads, black fathers and feminist moms, helped Aaron see the ways in which he was unconsciously supporting inequality and harmful, limiting stereotypes. That was not fun; it was painful. But Aaron encourages others to seek out and listen to diverse viewpoints. "Listen to them. Sit with what they say. Have the courage to uncomfortable," Aaron says. "You might find out that you're part of the problem. But it's what you do after you know better that matters." this week i sent $$$ to a Redistribution Fund for Black Trans & LGBTQ+ Folks. “Black Trans & LGBTQ+ folks are in desperate and constant need of support. Our livelihood is at stake and our lives are under attack. Black Trans & LGBTQ+ folks deserve to live our lives beyond our wildest dreams while we’re still alive to do so. By donating to this fund, you will be supporting the direct needs and desires of Black Trans & LGBTQ+ people.”please challenge yourself and others to give money to people directly and not just to large non profits for the tax write-off. that thinking is a product of white supremacy. and yes, a redistribution fund is a little different than giving money directly, but i’m thinking that for my parents, for example, or anyone that doesn’t know to who or how to give money, that this is a great option. appreciate the effort that goes into facilitating funds like these.DOWNLOAD RECORDINGsubscribe to the podcast here: http://feeds.feedburner.com/5432fun(intro by omar)Spur “Fire” Demo ‘16the Cult of Lip “Skin” Your FeedbackHaircut “Work Weak” June 2017 Promo TapePreston “Skatellite” There Is A Wrong Waycrush “Daily Active Users” Last CrushHARSHIST “Poison God” s/tCENDE “Don’t Want To” #1 Hit SingleSecret Nudist Friends “Lima Beans” Susan EPBack To The Future The Ride “Dance on the Graves of the People You’ve Been” health on earthPalm “Two Toes” Shadow Expertmomma “it” thanks come againPrime Junk “Surf Brat” SunnyvaleYowler “Bedroom Wall” The OfferCentury Palm “Cold Reflection” EPSeo “Feel Better” Avena SativaYoung Buffy “G.O.P.” Relaxation MusicStacey Green Jumps “Slip of Hand” CrumbsFake Buildings “Thick Paste” Leather SunroomsPallas “Wide Line” 12"Exotica “Caminando” musique exotique #02Larkin Grimm “Keeping You Alive” Chasing an Illusion

Bakes’ Takes Podcast Show Notes –Saturday April 11, 2020https:/ /www.macrovoices.com/podcasts-collection/macrovoices-all-stars-podcasts/825-all-stars-100-dr-pippa-malmgren-socio-economic-implications-of-the-coronavirus-crisisErik and Patrick do a great, thorough job as always. Dr. Pippa Malmgren discusses at 6 minutes inflation’s eventual return. Supply chain efficiencies and technology advancements deflationary forces now gone and money printing ongoing. She and WSJ point to egg price inflation, 229% in March! Her views at 25 minutes regarding multi-use properties, residential, urban farms, grocery stores, etc. are fascinating. I recommend them especially to my real estate friends.https://omny.fm/shows/the-james-altucher-show/571-andrew-hubermanJames produces one of my favorite podcasts. Period. Dr. Huberman’s proposed technique at 23 minutes or so is great. Put down your screen, defocus your eyes and take in a panoramic view of the horizon, as far as you can. Meaningful stress reduction. At 1:09, get as much sunlight in your eyes during the day as you can. At 1:14, avoid bright lights, i.e. computer screens, during the night. For better sleep, two inhales through nose, 2 seconds, exhale through mouth, eliminate carbon dioxide, 6 seconds. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jPboWUQNnrMBrian May teaching garage band guitarists like me how to play “Keep Yourself Alive” is fabulous.https://www.oaktreecapital.com/insights/howard-marks-memoswe have to consider our situation “in the context of unprecedented uncertainty and the total absence of guidance from analogies to the past.”But no one can tell you this is the time to buy. Nobody knows. As I put it, “All great investments begin in discomfort.” One thing we know is that there’s great discomfort today. The investor’s goal should be to make a large number of good buys, not just a few perfect ones. To insist on buying only at bottoms and selling only at tops would be paralyzing. Clearly, this process is one of gradual readjustment, not a matter of all-or-nothing. It shouldn’t be the goal to do this only at bottoms and tops. That’s why I so like the headline from Doug Kass that I referred to above: “When the Time Comes to Buy, You Won’t Want To.” It’s not easy to buy when the news is terrible, prices are collapsing and it’s impossible to have an idea where the bottom lies. But doing so should be the investor’s greatest aspiration.. . . markets rarely clear after one massive decline. In 15 bear markets since 1950, only one did not see the initial major low tested within three months . . . In all other cases, the bottom has been tested once or twice. Since news-flow in this crisis will likely worsen before it improves, a repeat seems likely.9/1/00 - 4/4/01-27%4/4/01 - 5/21/01+19%5/21/01 - 9/21/01-26%9/21/01 - 3/19/02+22%3/19/02 - 10/9/02-33%10/9/07 - 3/10/08-18%3/10/08 - 5/19/08+12%5/19/08 - 11/20/08-47%11/20/08 - 1/6/09+25%1/6/09 - 3/9/09-27%And so it goes for a while. Thus, as Oaktree’s Wayne Dahl points out, it took until mid-May 2007, or almost seven years, for the stock market to regain the September 2000 highs, and it took until mid-March 2013, or five and a half years, to regain the highs of October 2007.The bottom line for me is that I’m not at all troubled saying (a) markets may well be considerably lower sometime in the coming months and (b) we’re buying today when we find good value. I don’t find these statements inconsistent. https://www.barrons.com/magazine/20200413Barron’s cover and several articles highlight “the best week since 1974”, perhaps implying a bottom. A week is irrelevant, especially after the S&P 500 fell 34% in 33 days, as Al Root pointed out.https://www.barrons.com/articles/the-s-p-500-had-its-best-week-since-1974-next-up-an-economic-coma-51586560230?mod=past_editionsThe ’73-’74 bear was 2 years; this is 2 months. If you’re not delivering great customer service, it’s because you evidently don’t WANT TO. That’s what Scott McKain is emphatically stating on today’s PROJECT DISTINCT. He suggests that if Indiana’s Bureau of Motor Vehicles can do it — there’s no excuse for any of the rest of us. If you’re not a fan of your local BMV…you may be SHOCKED — and learn about commitment to customer service -- from what you hear on today’s episode!
It’s only two letters long, but the word “no” can be one of the hardest words to say out loud. In this episode, we talk about why no is every bit as important a word for a creative as yes. We’ll talk about earthworms, the trifecta of yes, how to strengthen your no muscle and Christmas candles. Then we interview the international bestselling “anti-guru” Sarah Knight, author of the No F*cks Given guides and ask her these two questions: 1) How do you decide when to say no? And 2) What’s the best way to say no? We’re interested in your answers to these questions, too. The post TMCP #418: Clay Millican – Becoming an NHRA Top Fuel Drag Racer by the Definition of “The Want To!” first appeared on The Muscle Car Place.

Sylvia Remington – Taking Action Even When You Don’t Want ToAired Monday, 26 August 2019, 3:00 PM EST / 12:00 PM PSTImagine being at a stoplight and you spot an old man with a sign reading “Homeless. Please help.” Instantly your mind starts going. You play with the idea of helping him with the dollar you have in your pocket for coffee and the idea of gifting him the dollar and helping him lights you up. So, even though you don’t really wanna, you choose to give it to him and spend five minutes helping him out. Before long, you drive off feeling a senses of joy. What if when you chose to take action, life could be more easeful? What if you chose to no longer stand around when you got the awareness to do something? What else is possible when you make the choice to follow what’s light even when you really don’t want to? Is there a lightness and elation to it? What if, on the days where you think you’re too busy to do other things or don’t want to do anything, you do them anyway? What if taking action could create greater for you and everyone else?On Monday, August 26th, Venus Castleberg is live with Sylvia Remington at 12 p.m. PST / 3 p.m. EST on Outside the Impossible where they will be discussing Taking Action Even When You Don’t Want To.Sylvia is an Access Consciousness Certified Facilitator, Bars Facilitator, Stepping Into You Facilitator, Empath aka I’m aware! How often does someone else tell you what you “should” do? Whether it’s said with the best of intentions or as a passive-aggressive ploy, Steph and Beth have had enough of it. They explore some of the “shoulds” friends, family, and society have laid on them. From career choices, to family choices, to how they live and spend their free time, they’ve both received a lot of “shoulds” and even been guilty of “shoulding” on themselves. In this honest conversation, Steph and Beth explore how to respond to both internal and external “shoulds” and discern which ones to keep and which ones to delete.Full transcript and show notes here: https://dospod.us/e6
“Honor [esteem, value as precious] your father and your mother [and be respectful to them]—this is the first commandment with a PROMISE— so that it may be well with you, and that you may have a long life on the earth.” Ephesians 6:2-3 AMP Our pain tells us lies. The devil convinced me for years that I was an exception to the rule, that I didn’t have to honor my parents because they had abused me for most of my life. I desperately wanted God to heal my heart and family dynamic, but my personal feelings towards them kept getting in the way. The truth is, if we want the Lord to do His part, we have to do ours. Staying angry may sometimes feel like our only way of getting justice, but it’s not. Friend, real justice is living completely FREE from that burden in Jesus name! The Lord isn’t expecting us to forgive all at once. He just wants us to WANT TO, to try. If we can get our hearts into a place of surrender, He will help us with the rest. God has amazing plans for you - plans to heal you, help you, and return all that has been stolen. But, to reach this abundant life, there’s a road you have to take that’s narrow and tough... and requires you to forgive, even the unforgivable. Join me today as I talk about healing parent wounds, and the miracles God can work through us and for us when we are willing to show grace. Love, - Kelly

Hello and welcome!Today’s episode is called: How To Meditate (Even When You Don’t Want To)… and it’s me (Aoife O’Leary) in conversation with Zack Shay as part of her Spirituality In Business series!Today is also my 406th consecutive day of meditation.I have had a habit of meditation for many years, but it had previously been on and off - dedicated for a while, no meditation for another while – you know how it goes! With that kind of practice, though, it became really obvious to me how much better my life works with a practice of daily meditation than without. It still took me years to actually commit to a non-negotiable daily practice. That begs another question: why do we resist or not do the things we know will benefit us?And further… why is being still and silent in life considered strange in life, while being busy in like a badge of honour!?Anyway, the practice of daily meditation has been a game changer in my life and I was delighted to have the opportunity to talk with Zack Shay as part of her Spirituality in Business series and tell her all about it!We also talk about:- How to stop hustling and lean into the feeling- How to bring playfulness into your business and life to help it expand and grow- The choice I made that allowed me to truly commit to daily meditationI hope you enjoy this interview and I would be more than happy to answer any questions you have about meditation or anything else – feel free to email me at copy@mymessageislove.com********Did you like this episode? This week Kristi & Jen sit down to explore goal-setting in a way that isn’t commonly addressed. While we value the message of setting S.M.A.R.T. goals, we felt there was enough information about the technical aspect of setting goals. We wanted to dive into the underlying psychological component of pursuing & achieving your goals. Pursuing a goal that isn’t right for you will require immense will-power. But when you’ve found a compelling internal reason to pursue a goal, no will-power is required.IN THIS EPISODE YOU’LL LEARN:The three phases of achieving your goals!#1 - PICKING YOUR GOAL:Have a compelling reason to pursue your goal - what’s your “why.”Make sure you like who you have to become in order to achieve your goal.Use the Goldilocks Rule - set a goal that is on the edge of your ability, not too hard, but not to easy. How are you willing to suffer?#2 - PURSUING YOUR GOAL:Make a plan & break down the steps to get there. Then break down those steps once more!Build an environment for success & eliminate unnecessary areas of resistance.Celebrate the small victories.Schedule the time to work on your goals.Be mindful of the excuses you’re making.#3 - ACHIEVING YOUR GOAL:There are no final steps in achieving you goal, but mindsets and concepts you MUST understand:Your life will not change the day you achieve your goal!Don’t pursue a goal to become happier (that’s a separate goal in itself), pursue a goal simply because you WANT TO!It’s about the journey, not the destination!TWEETABLES:“The little failures are just an opportunity to learn a lesson about what doesn’t work, which is a crucial part of the process in finding what does work!” Jen“You stick to it, not just for your self, but so when someone asks you for your time or help is needed somewhere, you can really easily say, “this is when I’m available.” Because if you don’t do that your days can really quickly get hijacked by something you didn’t plan for or trying to keep people happy and you can lose sight of your own goals.” Kristi“Prioritization is one of the biggest keys to achieving anything you want to achieve in life.” Kristi“It’s not achieving our goals that changes us, it’s pursuing them.” Jen“We need to be happy in pursuit of our goals, not pursue our goals to become happy.” Kristi“The best moments in our lives are not the passive, receptive, relaxing times. The best moments usually occur when a person’s body or mind is stretched to its limits in an effort to accomplish something that is difficult or worthwhile.” Mihaly Csikszentmihaly: Flow the Psychology of Optimal ExperienceTHOUGHT EXPERIMENT:Tell us, what are you trying to accomplish in 2019 & why? Maybe there’s something you want to add into your life, or perhaps there’s something you want to remove. Perhaps you want to start saying YES to more opportunities, or perhaps you want to start saying NO to set boundaries for your life. Regardless, we’d love to hear from you and support you on your quest!RESOURCES:Schedule a complimentary coaching session with Jen!Read Flow: the Psychology of Optimal Experience by Mihaly CsikszentmihalyFOLLOW:Kristi on Instagram or TwitterJen on Instagram

Witnessing people complain every single day is one of the most UNATTRACTIVE things you can ever experience because it takes away SO MUCH energy. Like complaining is the most obvious tell of a NON-WINNING person. Everything that happens in your LIFE is on YOU! You are where you are because of your decisions. If you’re gonna complain, don’t forget to look in the mirror and blame yourself before ever pointing your finger at someone else! If you WANT TO complain then DON’T find a way to solve your problems. Words are interesting and the subtle differences in meaning can often go unnoticed. Except that these words can be played over and over in your head. The words that you choose to use when you have to do something have meaning. These words carry weight not just to you but also for your spouse. This week Tony & Alisa look at two words that can lead to a ho-hum marriage or one that is extraordinary. They share the difference between "Need To" or "Want To" in your marriage and in your life. http://fitnesstogether.com/missionhills - Around this time of the year, as opportunities arise to trade in daily workouts for work, and personal extracurricular activities, you may be tempted to skip your workout and derail your health and fitness goals. To help keep you focused on your ultimate fitness goals and ensure your workout commitments stay intact, incorporate the following techniques for continued health and fitness throughout the year. Change it Up: If your workouts are getting dull, start off fresh by trying a new workout routine or activity. Do you current routine backwards, or cut it into thirds and move the thirds around in the workout. If you’re lacking motivation and looking for a social outlet, challenge a friend, colleague or family member to pair up so you don’t have to go it solo. Or, one-on-one personal training can keep you on track with a customized workout and nutrition plan designed to meet your specific health and fitness goals. Pen it In: Regularly scheduled workouts make exercising a priority in your busy life and turn a tentative penciled in obligation into an inked commitment. By making routine fitness appointments with yourself, you eliminate the urge to second guess yourself or make excuses for bailing on your workout. When you build out your time budget, make sure that this is in it. Buddy Up: When a friend is relying on you to show up for your workout each and every day, you are less likely to skip out on your fitness routine. Find a buddy to work out with to increase your accountability, add a social aspect to your routine and have someone to share the journey with to overall health and fitness. The extra push you get from someone in the trench with you, can and will reignite any dormant fitness flames. Go When You Don’t Want To: The mental boost you get from fighting off the bailout thoughts is extremely rewarding. Once you get started; and your heart rate comes up, and those endorphins start dancing about, suddenly you’re alive again. Some of my best workouts came on the back of not wanting, or feeling up to it. The physical and mental boost was enormous. Scale it Back: While you would love to have a full hour to work out every session, you know that isn’t always possible. Instead of bailing on your workout, when your schedule gets tight, opt for a scaled-down version of your regular routine. Focus on quality over quantity by reducing the number of exercises you do, but increase the intensity of the exercises so you can still get in a good sweat even when you’re limited on time. Reward Yourself: To stay motivated with your workout routine, it’s important to focus your outlook and approach on positive measures. Reward yourself with positive reinforcement each time you reach a health and fitness goal and celebrate your successes when you accomplish major fitness milestones. Seeking a reward and then receiving the reward is a good mental motivator. Stay on track with your fitness routine by implementing the above fitness tips into your daily life. You will be glad you did when the weather allows for more and more revealing attire. Plus, your mental state of mind will be upbeat and positive as you will know that you conquered the temptations to miss workouts that create set backs. It is a great feeling of both visual and mental accomplishments. If you need help with keeping your workout commitments, give us a call to re-commit yourself to living a healthy and fit lifestyle.
