Chief Reminding Officer: The Power of Repetition in Your Family If you've ever felt like a broken record as a parent — constantly reminding your kids (or yourself) of the same things over and over — this episode will make you feel a whole lot better. This week, Chris and Melissa talk about something they've been feeling in both their home and business lately: that quiet drift that happens when you stop doing the simple things that actually work. The routines that keep your house running. The systems that make your marriage stronger. The habits that help your family thrive. And the truth they came back to? Most families don't need a brand-new plan… they just need to remember the one they already have. Chris shares a conversation that pushed him to revisit Excellence Wins by Horst Schulze, the cofounder of the Ritz-Carlton. One line jumped off the page: "Great leaders are really just Chief Reminding Officers." At the Ritz, they review the same guiding principles every 21 days — not because people don't know them, but because repetition is what keeps a culture alive. As Chris and Melissa talk through examples from their own home, you'll hear how easy it is to slip into "sloppy" seasons — dishes piling up, routines disappearing, date nights pushed aside. Not because something is wrong… but because we forget what works. Melissa shares why repetition used to feel boring to her — and how she learned to see it as one of the most loving, grounding things you can do for your family. When you remind your kids who they are, remind your spouse what your marriage is about, or remind yourself what your family values… you're strengthening your culture every single time. This episode will make you feel encouraged, not overwhelmed. You'll walk away remembering that you don't need to reinvent your life — you probably already have the tools, rhythms, and values that work. You just need to return to them, repeat them, and keep reminding the people you love most. LINKS: All Links Family Brand! stan.store/familybrand familybrand.com/quiz familybrand.com/retreats. How do imagination, poetry, and fantasy literature like of J.R.R. Tolkien and C.S. Lewis help us deepen our faith in Christ? Sarah sits down with esteemed poet Malcolm Guite in this special Wild Card episode (recorded on location at the Getty Sing! Conference) for a conversation full of delightful storytelling, brilliant insight into the Christian faith, and encouragement to lean into the imagination God has given each of us. “What they [Tolkien and Lewis] meant was that the human mind and the depth of the imagination, especially the imagination, knows more than we do. There's a deeper wisdom. And that story knows more than we do, that a great story, a story which is working at the level of myth. Mythopoeic is actually older and wiser than we are, and even the author writing the story doesn't know everything that's in it. And a really great story is continuously suggesting more.” Malcolm Guite is a poet, musician, Anglican priest, and literary scholar who has taught at universities including Cambridge, Duke, and Regent. He's penned five volumes of poetry, several books on Christian faith and theology, and a highly acclaimed biography of Samuel Taylor Coleridge entitled Mariner. He has lectured widely on the fantasy writings of J.R.R. Tolkien and C.S. Lewis and is currently undertaking his own epic retelling of the legends of King Arthur. Season 12 is here! We talk Episode 1 "Keep Calm and Carry On" including the return of Lady Fancy Pants, the gratuitous Sam water scene, and Mary finally getting out of that effin nightgown. Liz introduces this season's lore theme of the Hermetic Order of the Golden Dawn, which may be the inspiration for the British Men of Letters, and tells part 1 of the story of Annie Kingsford (the founder of the Hermetic Society and possibly the world's first vegan influencer). Mary hosts another fabulous lunch at Valter's in Salt Lake City, complete with red carpet and fighting fish. On the agenda is the ongoing quest to resolve the mid-air conflict between Meredith and Britani, despite Britani not being invited. Lisa and Meredith continue to alienate themselves from the group by presenting different recollections of what happened on the plane but they quickly realize the group won't be swayed and insists on an apology to Britani. Then the episode goes from traumatic situation to traumatic situation, Britani and her daughter Olivia in therapy, Bronwyn discussing the loneliness she feels knowing her daughter and mother will soon be moving out, and Heather showing the world a very disturbing mattress. By the end, we finally get to see Meredith summoning Britani to delver a quasi-apology and let's hope it puts the issue to bed, on a clean mattress. Leslie Goodwins, director of 1943's Ladies' Day, a farcical comedy set in the world of baseball, needed a lead actress that woluld believably cause players to throw games and lose focus. Stunning Mexican beauty Lupe Velez was just that actress; and luckily, Goodwins and Velez had a good working relationship. She was the star of his Mexican Spitfire films, a series with Velez as the recurring lead. This would be their last collaboration as Velez would tragically end her own life only a year later. Dan and Vicky discuss the forgotten comedy along with lots of recently seen including Del Toro's Frankenstein, Oz Perkins' Keeper, Edgar Wright's The Running Man, Predator Badlands and Bugonia. You'll also hear about Vicky's trip to Disney, Dan's own stay in Florida and an AI machine who's feelings get hurt? This week on Eavesdroppin' comedy podcast, Geordie & Michelle look at two Black Widows...Betty Neumar, dubbed the "Black Widow Granny," was a seemingly ordinary woman - except for the fact that all five of her husbands were dead. When Police began investigating exactly how her husbands died, the details were sketchy. With little evidence and a lot of speculation, two questions emerged: was Betty a serial killer who knocked off her hubbies for the insurance money? Or was she a woman who was dealt a REALLY crappy hand of bad luck? Michelle investigates...Geordie follows with a mini dive into the life of Dena Thompson - AKA, The Black Widow of Sussex. Murderer, fraudster, catfisher, bigamist - Dena knew how to reel in vulnerable men and rinse them for all they had. But how did she con all these blokes? What were her tactics? And how did it all unravel for her? Listen now to hear how Dena mixed charm with deception to get what she wanted...So pop on your headphones, grab a brown lemonade and join Geordie & Michelle for this week's episode, plus chat about peanut butter, a woman who was nearly cremated, an echidna spot and more, only on Eavesdroppin' comedy podcast. So many midlife women describe themselves as stressed, but what if what we're calling “stress” is actually something deeper happening inside the body? In this powerful conversation, Heather sits down with Dr. Aimie Apigian, physician, speaker, and author of The Biology of Trauma, to unpack the difference between everyday stress and stored trauma that shows up as overwhelm, exhaustion, irritability, or feeling “stuck.” Together, they explore why midlife is often the moment unresolved patterns surface, how the nervous system drives our physical and emotional responses, and why pushing harder, at work, at home, or even in the gym, can actually reinforce a survival state. Dr. Aimie shares how to know the difference of recognizing tools for healing rather than triggers for dysregulation, and she offers the first steps to reset your system, build true resilience, and reconnect with the energy and clarity you've been missing. If you've been living in go-mode for so long it feels normal, this episode will help you understand your body, reclaim your power, and finally begin your reset. Mid-podcast interview with Courtney Townley, my guest this week, a comment she said stopped me in my tracks. "I moved from discipline to devotion." She was talking to me about how she reframed the times she showed up to write–moving from discipline (or something she HAD to do), to devotion (focusing on this incredible book that would serve her community). I absolutely love the distinction. Courtney, already known for her poignant reframes around women, midlife and wellness, made the point that women don't need another guru telling them to move their body, stress less and eat kale–we need to understand self-leadership. With over three decades in the wellness industry, she's discovered that deep health isn't about following someone else's manual—it's about writing your own. A sought-after speaker and educator, she blends science with straight talk, helping women navigate behavior change with grace, grit and self-trust. Ladies, this episode is for you–full of nuggets and applicable wisdom–you don't want to miss it!
If you've been feeling anxious, moody, or emotionally "off" lately, you are not alone. Midlife can bring sudden waves of anxiety, sleepless nights, irritability, and even sadness — all of which can leave you wondering what happened to your old self. In this week's podcast titled “Sing!”we explore one of the most repeated invitations in Scripture — to sing. From Deborah's song in Judges to the song of the Lamb in Revelation, the Bible reminds us that singing is more than melody; it's ministry. This episode reflects on passages where God's people lifted their voices in praise, thanksgiving, and victory. We'll talk about why we sing, who we sing to, and what happens when we fill our hearts and minds with songs of worship instead of the noise of the world. You'll also hear how modern science echoes what Scripture has always said — that singing heals, unites, and frees. Because even on the hardest days, when there seems to be no song in your heart… sing anyway.

Several people were confused about the album pins I talk about on this show. So I thought I'd share details. An album pin is a lapel pin. Each pin is themed to a particular album I've released. You get a digital download of the album. And then you can wear your help. It's fashion and music combined as one. My pins are beautifully designed and wood burned locally. This makes them better for the environment. It's that time of year…time for some big tasty turkels, delicious side dishes, and a nice tryptophan induced nod after feasting yourself into fullness and naptime. It's THANKSGIVING, and while most folks are gearing up for the coming holiday season (which will start promptly in the pre-dawn hours of Black Friday), we realize that we've NEVER taken any time off during the holidays and that perhaps it's time we enjoy a little holiday breather. With that in mind, we've put together a veritable cornucopia of clips from our 2025 collection that we hope you enjoy. Our only real cautionary advisory would be that you listen to this prior to enjoying your Turkey Day feast in order to avoid the very real possibility of laughing until you vomit. Happy Thanksgiving to all!!! Enjoy your Thanksgiving Day feast, prep carefully if you're deep frying a turkey, be thankful and gracious for the lack of giblets in your gravy, and enjoy an abundance of relaxers before dinner with the family when you JOIN US for the most off-putting, irresponsible, and exhausting VACATION TAPES you've ever heard. What if menopause isn't just something you "get through"… but a powerful wake-up call to protect your long-term health, energy, and vitality? In this episode, Lynne is joined by Dr. Sofia Din, a New York–based, board-certified family physician with over 25 years of experience and specialized training in geriatrics, anti-aging, and aesthetic medicine. Trained in both Pakistan and the United States, Dr. Din blends Eastern and Western approaches to help women extend not just their lifespan, but their health span—the years they actually feel well, strong, and fully alive. Together, Lynne and Dr. Din unpack what's really going on in menopause—from shifting metabolism, stubborn weight gain, and skin changes to immune dysregulation, brain fog, and emotional ups and downs. You'll hear why our current healthcare model is built around sickness management instead of true health management, and how that leaves so many midlife women feeling dismissed, unseen, and unsupported. This conversation is a compassionate, science-backed invitation to step into the driver's seat of your health. You'll walk away with practical strategies for supporting your body through menopause, protecting your health span, and redefining beauty and aging on your terms. In this episode, we talk about: Why menopause is a full-body event—not "just hormones" The difference between sickness management and proactive health management How menopause affects metabolism, fat storage, and cholesterol Why some supplements don't work as promised (and what to know about absorption) Early, smart skin care steps to prevent "chronic skin failure" The role of sleep, nutrition, movement, and stress relief in protecting your health span Non-surgical, medical-grade options for skin and body confidence in midlife How to talk to your doctor so your symptoms are taken seriously About Dr. Sofia Din Sofia Din, MD believes that aging gracefully and aging helplessly are not the same thing—and that women deserve tools, education, and agency over how they move through midlife and beyond. She is the author of Do We Really Need Botox?, where she shares a holistic, science-backed framework for extending both health span and "beauty span" without excessive surgery. Featured in major media, TV, and TEDx, Dr. Din is known for her practical, empowering, and deeply human approach to women's health. They have been moms for one quarter of that time and it shows. How do they cope? They laugh about all of the craziness that comes with being a mom and they want you to laugh about it too! From snot to stretchmarks to sleepless nights, Kristin and Jen know firsthand that parenting is a hard job and they invite you to join them in taking it all a little less seriously (even if for a few short minutes a day). After all, Jen currently has four days of dry shampoo in her hair and Kristin's keys are still in her front door. They try, they fail, they support each other, and they mom as hard as they can.Disclaimer: This podcast is for entertainment purposes only. Ladies and gentlemen, welcome back to The Kevin Jackson Show, where we dissect the daily dumpster fire that is our news cycle without a single apology. You know, I flipped on the TV this morning, and it was like watching a horror movie marathon directed by the Marx Brothers—if the Marx Brothers were all hopped up on bad policy and worse judgment. Carnage everywhere, folks. Murders, assaults, cities turning into Mad Max realities. And guess who's holding the camera? Democrats, about 90% of the time. From your neighborhood smash-and-grab artist to the suit-wearing snakes in D.C., it's a Democrat production all the way.See Privacy Policy at https://art19.com/privacy and California Privacy Notice at https://art19.com/privacy#do-not-sell-my-info.
