She was raised by her Grandmother Alice Cooper-Millers along with 17 other cousins. Moniqueexperienced first-hand with her grandmother, faith, love, patience and compassion. It's inspiring to see how her core values has shaped the Personal Care Home and the lives of those who resides there. The Personal Care Home originated from Alice Myers taking in different individuals with various diagnoses. The PCH is based off of patience, love, honor and respect for everyone. Alicia and her husband, Marques Williams launched the 10 Free, Vegan, Cruelty Free, Nail Lacquer “as a labor of love because it's not only in the green beauty space where there are not a lot of brands that speak to black and brown consumers but also incorporates a wide range of colors that Alicia felt were missing in the market. Alicia discusses the 8 months of research she conducted to identify the right market opportunity as well as manufacturing and the overall consumer landscape. She credits the time during covid in between her corporate roles to truly hone in on what she wanted to do that allowed her the space to bring the brand to fruition. As part of a two part series, Alicia Williams, the first Senior Director Anti-Racism & Racial Equity at the haircare products company DevaCurl, shares her intrapreneurial role to lead strategy and ensure anti-racism touches all aspects of the brand. This year, Alicia led an initiative with The Professional Beauty Association (PBA), the largest and most inclusive national trade organization representing the professional beauty industry, and other partners, to launch the Texture Education Collective (TEC), an alliance of professional hair industry leaders with a shared goal of encouraging cosmetology state board licensing requirements and curriculums nationwide to be inclusive of all hair types and textures. Prior to this role, Alicia spent over a decade in nonprofits with underserved youth further sharing her start as a teacher at an alternative school as a labor of love that truly sparked her passion and calling. Alicia spent a decade in nonprofit roles that allowed her to share her passion for helping students and promoting change. After transitioning to the corporate sector, she found her niche at Converse HQ. Founder and CEO, Alexis Sidney, EA, MBA, MAFM has built an accounting & tax advisory firm in Fayetteville, Georgia – and is on a mission to take the stress out of tax compliance. Born in New Haven, Connecticut, Alexis has always had an interest in business – understanding how businesses are structured, how they make money, and how they're profitable – having grown up with a father who prepared taxes for friends and family. It was only natural then that Alexis pursued a bachelor's degree in finance. She followed this up with a master's degree in financial management and business administration before adding another string to an already overcrowded bow: she became an enrolled agent, licensed to practice before the IRS, a licensed insurance agent, and a graduate of the Federal Executive Board Leadership program. During college, Alexis took the plunge and set up her own business – Atlanta Tax Services – in 2004. The Atlanta-based company specializes in taxes, accounting, and consulting for entrepreneurs and small businesses. In 2006, Alexis opted to take a job with the federal government in which she was dedicated to building resilient communities through disaster recovery, managing $7.4 billion in grant programs for emergency preparedness and recovery, and economic and workforce development. After a 12-year stint working for the federal government, Alexis was ready to switch hats and return to full- time entrepreneurship and founded The Twelve Firm. “For me, the passion is about reaching real people who acted on their dreams and set up their own businesses, and getting them to be better on their finances,” said Alexis. Like, tell me what platform honestly, you could reach out to the CEO of Pepsi and get a response. 9:20 From a client perspective, it goes back down to who are their buyers, and what's their buyer persona. What's the age, the industry, the geographic location? Like what do they care about? And that honestly helped guide or does guide where they should be hanging out from a platform standpoint. 10:15 I think in-person events absolutely have a place. And they're great, especially for learning and development, and getting in the room and showing a presence. I'm just very intentional about which ones I go to, I think of it this way, what events are worth me not being home for my family to go to? 12:39 We do have a LinkedIn group that's filled with marketing executives, I measure the growth of that group and the engagement. The other is my connection growth, making sure that my connection numbers are increasing with the right people. And the third is we have a LinkedIn navigator it will show profiles, and engagement is tracked based on others in your space. 18:24 We built the team to really have a collective of different specialists, they are hyper-focused on what they do, and they do it really, really well. Where my strong suit comes in is that strategy and that implementation part and kind of making sure the wheel spins. 22:53 So when I say I've spent years building this collective, it has taken years to test it, try it, and have them treat me like a customer, before I introduce them to a client. 27:09 Our clients know, our strong suit is the strategy and implementing the creative part. The other avenues like SEO and ads, are specific contractors that we pull in for that client. 29:47 Clients want to know, their goals are being hit, the work is being done, we have their back, and who's sitting in those seats.
