These legends are hard to prove, but even without evidence they have staying power. And most people like to believe that their loved ones hang around even after they've died, so why not hang out at the cemetery where they're buried. In this 31st episode of haunted cemeteries, we share cemeteries in Arkansas, Texas, Canada, Oklahoma, Illinois and Indiana. The Moment in Oddity features the Yeti Crab. At the same time, Trump is trying to send his buddy (the Argentinian President) a $20 billion bailout. We briefly discuss Alex Jones and his rejected appeal in the Sandy Hook case, before discussing the Supreme Courts decision in gerrymandering the state of Louisiana on the basis of race. We then shift over to Idaho and peel back some of the misunderstandings surrounding the Qatari pilots that will be training there. We briefly touch on a suspicious crash that just happened outside of Area 51, before we move the conversation towards the ceasefire between Hamas and the IDF as Hamas is conducting public executions in the street. When 52-year-old Shannon Lee Collins vanished from his home in Pottsville, Arkansas, on March 12, 2021, there were no tire tracks leading away, no note left behind—just silence. A phone that suddenly went dark. A man who never missed a call simply stopped answering. At first, his loved ones were told he'd left on his own. But as the months passed, the stories about where he'd gone began to shift—and the truth grew harder to ignore. Why hadn't anyone in his home reported him missing? Why were there so many conflicting explanations about the last time anyone saw him? And what secrets were buried behind those small-town walls? In this two-part series, we follow Shannon's brother, Blake, and his sister, Holly, as they piece together a puzzle built on contradictions. “Vernacular is what you do when you can't afford to get it wrong.”Carley ChastainEpisode Summary:This episode of The Zweig Letter Podcast, hosted by Randy Wilburn and joined by marketing co-host Luke Carothers, traces Carley Chastain's unique path through the architecture profession. Carley, an emerging architectural professional at Marlon Blackwell Architects in Northwest Arkansas, shares how she was drawn to architecture not by tradition, but by curiosity, community, and a keen desire to make the built environment serve real people. From Auburn University's Rural Studio—where students design and build for underserved communities—to Mass Design Group's healthcare infrastructure projects in Rwanda, Carley unpacks the transformative power of purpose-driven design. Her journey from Alabama to Montana, Boston, and Kigali has shaped her approach to design as one focused on social impact, community resilience, and equity. Listeners will gain perspective on how intentional architecture can shape lives, tackle rural housing and infrastructure gaps, and deliver facilities that truly respond to community needs. The conversation also spotlights the next generation of AEC professionals prioritizing equity, resilience, and local advocacy. Carley's reflections offer valuable strategies for increasing diversity, retaining talent, and ensuring architecture's continued relevance for the future.Key Takeaways:Community-first Design: Purposeful engagement with local people and issues creates projects that are meaningful and sustainable—whether it's rural housing or urban centers.Tackling Obstacles Holistically: Carley's experience on the $20K House and the Front Porch Initiative demonstrates how architects can identify and address systemic barriers like access to fire stations and insurance, not just building design.Value of Diverse Experience: Exposure to international practice and local development, as well as cross-disciplinary networking, gives young professionals context and resilience—qualities vital for evolving the AEC industry.Advocacy and Retention: To retain diverse talent, firms must foster strong community connections, empower staff with local resources, and invest in personal and professional development.Importance of Public Health: Architecture's role extends to building infrastructure that supports public health and preventive care—a lesson Carley saw firsthand with Mass Design Group in Kigali and current healthcare projects in Arkansas. All this and more on this episode of the Zweig Letter podcast.Links referenced in this episode:Marlon Blackwell Architects: https://www.marlonblackwell.com/Mass Design Group: https://www.massdesigngroup.org/Auburn University Rural Studio: https://ruralstudio.org/Contact Carley Chastain: carley@marlonblackwell.comConnect with Carley Chastain on LinkedInLearn about

In this episode of SpaceTime, we explore groundbreaking discoveries that reshape our understanding of Mars, the Moon, and the Milky Way Galaxy.Ancient Oceans on Mars: Geological Evidence RevealedA new study published in the journal Geophysical Research Letters presents compelling geological evidence that Mars' Northern Hemisphere was once home to a vast ocean. Lead author Chris from the University of Arkansas discusses how comparisons between river rocks on Earth and Martian sediment reveal ancient river deltas and backwater zones, suggesting that liquid water flowed on the Red Planet, increasing the possibility of past life. This episode delves into the processes of sedimentation and erosion that shaped Mars' landscape, providing insights into its watery past. The Moon's South Pole-Aitken Basin: Unveiling Impact MysteriesA fresh analysis of the Moon's largest impact crater, the South Pole-Aitken Basin, sheds light on its formation and the Moon's geological history. Researchers have discovered that this massive crater's shape indicates an impact from the north, challenging previous assumptions. As the Artemis missions prepare to land near this basin, they will have the opportunity to study material excavated from the lunar interior, potentially unlocking secrets about the Moon's evolution and the asymmetries in its crust.Nancy Chris Roman Space Telescope: Mapping the Milky WayNASA's upcoming Nancy Chris Roman Space Telescope is set to revolutionise our understanding of the Milky Way's interstellar medium. This mission will map around 20 billion stars, using infrared light to penetrate the dust clouds obscuring our view. Chief investigator Catherine Zucker explains how this data will refine our models of star formation and the galaxy's structure, while also addressing the ongoing mysteries of galactic spiral patterns and their role in star birth.www.spacetimewithstuartgary.com✍️ Episode ReferencesGeophysical Research Lettershttps://agupubs.onlinelibrary.wiley.com/journal/19448007Naturehttps://www.nature.com/natureNASA Nancy Chris Roman Space Telescopehttps://roman.gsfc.nasa.gov/Become a supporter of this podcast: https://www.spreaker.com/podcast/spacetime-your-guide-to-space-astronomy--2458531/support.Ancient Oceans on Mars: Geological Evidence RevealedThe Moon's South Pole-Aitken Basin: Unveiling Impact MysteriesNancy Chris Roman Space Telescope: Mapping the Milky Way(00:00) Evidence of ancient oceans on Mars(10:15) New insights into the Moon's largest impact crater(19:30) The upcoming Nancy Chris Roman Space Telescope mission(27:00) Science Robert: Heatwaves and their impact on global mortality

When her family moved into a charming old farmhouse in a small Arkansas town, it seemed picture-perfect: a wraparound porch, a small stream, and sunlight pouring through the big bedroom windows. But beneath the quaint country exterior was something deeply unsettling. The first sign came not to her, but to her best friend — a loud, melodic whistling that filled the room even though no one was there. Weeks later, she heard the same eerie whistle herself while showering in broad daylight. Then the nights turned terrifying. While sneaking in a late-night phone call with her boyfriend, the kitchen cabinets directly across from her room began slamming open and shut by themselves — loud enough for her boyfriend to hear through the phone. Even decades later, the experience remains vivid: the whistling that had no source, the violent cabinet doors, the unseen footsteps… and that impossible little figure that ran beneath the moonlight. Is it possible that some places hold onto echoes of things we can't explain?
