How the Camel Got His Hump by Rudyard Kipling — A Calming Bedtime Story for Sleep, Insomnia & Deep Relaxation | Books at Bedtime A gentle bedtime story to help you fall asleep — read slowly and softly by Martin, for anyone lying awake in need of something kind to drift off to. Tonight's reading is How the Camel Got His Hump, one of Rudyard Kipling's best-loved Just So Stories, first published in 1902 and long out of copyright. It's a warm, funny little tale from the beginning of the world, when the animals were only just starting to work alongside people. A camel lives out in the middle of the desert doing absolutely nothing, answering everything that is said to him with a single word — until the Djinn in charge of all deserts comes rolling by in his cloud of dust and settles the matter once and for all. Kipling wrote these stories to be read aloud to a sleepy child, and it shows. The gentle repetition, the returning refrain, the slow tally of the days — it's a rhythm that lets a busy mind stop gripping and start to drift. Perfect for insomnia, for night-time anxiety, or for anyone who simply wants a familiar voice in the dark. There is nothing to follow here and nothing to do. No breathing exercise, no affirmations, no tips. Just a story that takes you somewhere a long way from your own day. If you're asleep before the Djinn ever arrives, the story has done exactly what it came to do. This is Books at Bedtime, part of Coffee Break for the Soul from the Calming Anxiety podcast — a growing library of classic sleep stories, relaxing audiobooks and public-domain readings for insomnia, night-time anxiety and deep relaxation. Hosted by clinical hypnotherapist and former paramedic Martin Hewlett. Every Books at Bedtime story is also inside Anchored, our iOS app — offline-ready, with a built-in nightlight for the small hours, so there is always something waiting for you at three in the morning. Sleep well, my friend, and in your dreams, be kind.

The Seattle Seahawks are back in training camp and, as a bonus, we don't have any offseason drama to clean up before we get to the actual football. Cooper Kupp is making one-handed grabs that make you wonder what he has left to prove, Mike Macdonald is quoting Michael Jordan and the '91 Bulls to a locker room that's still mostly intact from a championship roster, and new offensive coordinator Brian Fleury is getting some high praise from his head coach. We discuss why Devon Witherspoon still not having an extension could be a concern, and we get into why it may be better to get Sam Darnold locked up long term now rather than waiting. How the Leopard Got His Spots by Rudyard Kipling — A Calming Bedtime Story for Sleep, Insomnia & Deep Relaxation | Books at Bedtime A soothing bedtime story to help you fall asleep — read slowly and softly by Martin, for anyone lying awake and wanting something gentle to drift off to. Tonight's reading is How the Leopard Got His Spots, one of Rudyard Kipling's much-loved Just So Stories, first published in 1902 and long out of copyright. It's a warm, playful tale of the bare, sunlit High Veldt, of a giraffe and a zebra who slip away into a shadowy forest, of Baviaan the wise baboon and his riddling advice, and of how a leopard and his hunting companion finally learn to change. Kipling wrote these stories to be spoken aloud to a child at bedtime — the rolling, repeating rhythm and the familiar refrain of "best beloved" are exactly what makes them settle a restless mind. There is nothing to follow here and nothing to do. No breathing exercise, no affirmations. Just a voice in the dark and a story that goes somewhere far away from your own day. If you fall asleep long before the leopard ever finds his spots, the story has done its job. This is Books at Bedtime, part of Coffee Break for the Soul from the Calming Anxiety podcast — a growing library of classic sleep stories, relaxing audiobooks and public-domain readings for insomnia, night-time anxiety and deep relaxation. Becky Graves was living a comfortable American life when her husband suggested a family mission trip to Haiti. She told him—forcefully—NO! But then God changed Becky's heart; that "short-term" trip became a defining moment in her life. Fourteen years later, Becky is still serving the people of Haiti. She's also waging a battle with cancer. Becky has chosen to find joy—regardless of her circumstances—in the work of ministry in a difficult place and in the cancer fight. "Cancer and Haiti both taught me that I have to be comfortable with uncertainty and rely on the Lord," she says. She also says that suffering can be a gift. Becky leads a ministry called Haiti Awake. She also serves as a security trainer for global gospel workers through Concilium. (Scott Brawner, founder of Concilium, has also been a VOM Radio guest.) Listen as Becky recounts her first diagnosis in 2019, how she's found opportunities to witness even in hardship and how her perspective on suffering has been shaped. Becky blogs about her work in Haiti and her cancer journey at Fear is Not My Future. She's just published a devotional book (affliate link) by the same name. Hear more about gospel work and sacrifice in Haiti in this VOM Radio interview with David and Alicia Lloyd. The VOM App for your smartphone or tablet will help you pray daily for persecuted Christians in nations like North Korea, Nigeria, China, and Iran, as well as provide free access to e-books, audiobooks, video content, and feature films. On this week's show we look into our crystal ball to see what is on the Home Theater Horizon. We also read your emails and take a look at the week's news. News: 2026 Value Electronics TV Shootout: Samsung Snaps Sony TV Streak CarPlay video coming with iOS 27 WGA Seeks Injunction to Block Deal's Closing What is on the Home Theater Horizon Home theater technology is advancing quickly and the trend is moving toward wireless setups, brighter and more flexible displays, AI-powered calibration, immersive spatial audio, and simpler high-end installations. Today we take a look at what we can expect over the next couple of years. Displays: Brighter, Wireless, and Modular Ultra-thin wireless OLEDs: LG's OLED evo W6, also called the Wallpaper TV, is part of their 2026 evo lineup. It's incredibly thin — just 9 millimeters thick — and features a true wireless design. All your devices plug into a separate Zero Connect Box that can sit up to 10 meters away. The box then sends 4K video and audio wirelessly to the TV with almost no quality loss. The TV also includes Hyper Radiant Color Technology. This delivers much higher brightness — up to 3.9 times brighter than standard OLEDs — along with deeper black levels and fewer reflections. For gamers, it supports 4K at 165 Hertz, G-SYNC, and very fast response times. MicroLED and RGB advancements: MicroLED displays — including variants like Micro RGB or TriChroma — are becoming popular for luxury home theater setups. They deliver perfect blacks like OLED screens, but with much higher brightness, no burn-in risk, and modular designs that let you create custom sizes, such as 136-inch or even larger cinema walls. Brands like LG with their MAGNIT Active Micro LED, Samsung, and Sony are leading the way, offering seamless, cinema-certified picture quality. Consumer versions are still quite expensive — often six figures for a full wall — but they're becoming more realistic and affordable over time. Mini RGB: These TVs are poised to be a big hit because they combine the best of both worlds: the perfect blacks and contrast of OLED with the extreme brightness, longevity, and modular flexibility of MicroLED-style RGB technology. By using advanced Mini RGB LED backlighting, Mini RGB delivers stunning HDR performance, vibrant colors, and seamless large-screen designs ideal for luxury home theaters — all without burn-in worries. Sony's reputation for premium picture processing, cinema-grade calibration, and build quality gives their Mini RGB a clear edge over competitors, making these TVs the top choice for serious enthusiasts who want theater-like visuals that will stay impressive for years to come. Projectors: Triple-laser UST (ultra-short-throw) and standard models dominate, with brighter outputs (thousands of ISO lumens), wider color gamuts (e.g., 110% BT.2026), Dolby Vision support, and 4K/8K capabilities. Examples include XGIMI Horizon 20 Max, AWOL Vision LTV-3000 Pro, and Hisense models. Laser is now the baseline for premium performance. Audio: Wireless Immersion and Modular Systems Wireless multi-speaker ecosystems: Dolby Atmos FlexConnect is rolling out more widely including the LG Sound Suite. This enables cable-free speaker placement with accurate panning. Sony's BRAVIA Theatre lineup (Trio, Bar 7/9, etc.) emphasizes modular wireless components with 360 Spatial Sound Mapping, phantom speakers (up to 24 channels), and room calibration. Advanced AVRs and processors: Denon, Onkyo, and others offer higher-channel support (9.4+), Dirac Live/Audyssey calibration, and AI room tuning. Multi-channel processors use Audio over IP for fewer wires in custom installs. Immersive extras: Haptic furniture, synchronized smart lighting using the Philips HDMI Sync Box 2.1, and AI acoustic optimization for real-time adjustments. Other Notable Trends AI integration: Automatic calibration, content optimization, and adaptive environments including room mapping for sound and light.. Hybrid/immersive rooms: 360-degree or wraparound video with spatial audio, plus premium formats inspired by commercial cinema (laser projection, higher baselines like 7.1+ with height channels). Lifestyle focus: Movable displays, aesthetically integrated speakers, mainly acoustically transparent designs, and easier setups for non-dedicated rooms. There are some exciting technologies shaping the next couple of years in home theater. Displays are getting brighter, thinner, and more flexible with ultra-thin wireless designs. High-performance UST laser projectors will bring huge screens to rooms where it was never possible before. And the shift toward truly wireless, immersive audio will fill any room with rich, room-filling sound. Best of all, your entire system will adapt to your room with the touch of a button!
What if the most grounding thing you could do today wasn't more effort, but more tenderness toward yourself? Welcome to Day 5 of our 7-day grounding meditation series. Today we return to the root chakra — but instead of grounding through breath or posture, we nurture it directly, tending to your most basic needs for safety and security the way you'd tend a small fire or water a plant. This guided meditation blends chakra visualization with real nervous-system science to help you feel steadier, safer, and more whole by the end of the practice. Download this week's free Daily Reflection Journal → Receive Mary Meckley's weekly meditation journal, created to help you reflect, reset, and realign with each new series from The Daily Meditation Podcast. What You'll Learn in This Episode A root chakra (Muladhara) visualization for feeling safe and grounded The science behind why self-nurture calms your nervous system (hello, oxytocin and vagal tone) Why tending to yourself is regulating, not indulgent An ancient yogic teaching on the root as the foundation for all growth Who This Episode Is For Anyone who feels depleted, unsafe, or disconnected from their own needs — and is searching for root chakra meditation, self-compassion practices, or grounding techniques backed by both ancient wisdom and modern science.

Black Star Network Partner: Chapter Chapter and its affiliates are not connected with or endorsed by any government entity or the federal Medicare program. Chapter Advisory, LLC represents Medicare Advantage HMO, PPO, and PFFS organizations and stand alone prescription drug plans that have a Medicare contract. Enrollment depends on the plan’s contract renewal. While we have a database of every Medicare plan nationwide and can help you to search among all plans, we have contracts with many but not all plans. As a result, we do not offer every plan available in your area. Currently we represent 50 organizations which offer 18,160 products nationwide. We search and recommend all plans, even those we don’t directly offer. You can contact a licensed Chapter agent to find out the number of products available in your specific area. Please contact Medicare.gov, 1-800-Medicare, or your local State Health Insurance Program (SHIP) to get information on all of your options. ____ Download the Black Star Network app at http://www.blackstarnetwork.com!
