Hosts Anna and Henry focus on the history of US concentration camps. While the current dialogue around the US run migrant concentration camps on the southern border is focused largely on the humanitarian aspect of the camps, this show will try to place these camps in a historical context. Concentration camps have been used throughout US history as an effort to silence dissent and to protect the interests of capital. This show will look at how these events (both past and present) are shaped by larger historical forces

Haunted Heartland is a student-lead production. Each year, the three-hour live broadcast brings in listeners from around the country to hear original stories exclusive to our heartland. In Haunted Heartland’s first year, five students participated, producing shows on everything from Ouija Boards to Omaha's seedy past. Since then, the production has expanded to include 13 students this year and has even led to national student broadcasting awards for those participating. HH2018 also cracked open the "vault" bringing back some of our best pieces and four UNO alumni visited the studios to talk about their experiences. Haunted Heartland is a unique experience for the students because the format is not something commercial stations are able to dedicate the time or resources to. “That's where we have the benefit of being nonprofit and educational. It was only a matter of time before GLAMcity joined the ranks - temporarily- of true crime podcasts. Hosts Anna and Tamson and historian Alana Piper investigate the past using official criminal records of Australian offenders from the end of the convict period through to the Second World War.Alana’s project invites citizen historians to view and transcribe criminal records. Mostly handwritten, the records carry valuable information about the offences committed and the incarceration and institutionalisation of prisoners.These handwritten documents are becoming digital records for future generations of historians to explore. They're also a reminder of the harsh penalties imposed on Australians, many of whom were arrested on petty charges- vagrancy and theft or as Alana points out, for being poor.
