In this followup to my last episode - which was a very short seven minutes - I dive deeper on the conversation about politics. With my friend and special guest Eddie Martí Kring joining, we talk about how it's much more than politics; it's about choosing to show up for love, and choosing to protect our human rights.Eddie and I met a few years ago at the Human Rights Campaign (HRC) Time to Thrive conference. I was so glad to catch up with him today, to hear about the impactful work he's doing in Miami. We both grew up in Florida, but I was a little farther north in Orlando. We realized that I was in middle school when civics duty education was cut from curriculum. But regardless of wherever we are on our journeys and our individual backgrounds with civic duty, it comes down to making a conscious decision to show up for what's right.Whether you live in Florida or somewhere else, you can get involved. **Listener survey - help shape the podcast to what you want to hear!**  https://bit.ly/3ay8FDt   Today’s guest is Lisa Campbell, founder of The Marcam Group, where she guides her clients to profitability as a Profit First strategist.  I wanted to have her on because she started out just like many of you, as a solo practitioner, fell into all the predictable traps, until finally she realized that something had to change. So we explore her journey of her business growth and what she learned along the way. What stood out to me was her piece about mindset work and teaching herself how to focus, how to systematize the way she thinks about things.  It reminds me of something I read in “The Power of Now” by Eckhart Tolle, where he talks about the mind being kind of like a dog chewing on a bone. The dog will chew and chew and chew on the bone and they will totally enjoy it and you give the dog a bone and it will hang out there. And as entrepreneurs, we can kind of be similar. We see shiny objects and we go towards them. It takes special effort to train our minds to focus and give our attention to the things that are most important in our day and in our lives. I'm Andrew and I'm Scott. This production is meant to provide you the listener meaningful support to fight great careers careers faster. And that's whether you are working or not by the way. This episode today is brought to you by the anatomy of a networking conversation. It's an e-book and a free resource that you can download at job seekers radio DOT COM in today's show we talk about balance balancing cultural fit and the urgent need for for income not uncommon very common. Both of us have had situations where income was necessary very very interesting. I think that's true of most Savar. Listening to income is necessary I. It's just the urgency. That may or may not be really a driver for some people. I think one person that I know who decided to move to Portland for whatever reason he was between jobs and he and his family decided to move all the way across the country to settle here in Portland. Income was not really eighty. Something he needed urgently he had enough in savings that he knew he'd be safe for while still it doesn't last forever. He wasn't in the one percent that isn't able to spend and all the money's making on interest so you know a job is needed but then was also talking to someone recently who is badly under employed at the moment and she she is running out of money and so the the the need to get a full time job where she's really supporting herself is urgent and she's finding herself looking at potential jobs that are beneath her skill. Set that pay less than what she's looking for and there's a lot of other stuff going on that really digs into herself confidence. So that's part of what is driving this discussion today. Whether you're employed or unemployed the need for money Israel your many people if you have obligations and you're staring down at your bank account balance and you need a job then take the next job. Right comes along and there's really nothing wrong with that. I realized that nobody wants to take a job. They're not going to enjoy and I think that's healthy perspective. In fact I think that's healthier here than those who say. Oh well I can just work any job. And they don't really care they they may not care as an employer. I want them to care. How do you balance that? I really think that this this conversation begins with knowing what you want in the first place. What do you want an employer and even if you are feeling that urgency that you just have to get a job Bob? It's critical that you spend the time to decide. What is it that you actually want to many times? I hear people talk about. Oh well you know I. I have transferable skills I can work for anyone. It's not industry specific. And so why are they hiring me and when I asked him well what do you want to an employer that well any employer is fine as long as an. I'm thinking wait a minute. They haven't done any research they haven't made. They haven't documented any of their desires. How then can can you express your enthusiasm for job that you're implying for if you don't even know what you want? Take that time.

"Once you have identified with some form of negativity, you do not want to let it go, and on a deeply unconscious level, you do not want positive change. It would threaten your identity as a depressed, angry or hard-done by person. You will then ignore, deny or sabotage the positive in your life. This is a common phenomenon. It is also insane." Shadowlight: Transformation, Healing, Activism, Mental Health, Mindset, Spirituality, Biohacking, Trauma, Personal Growth

I met Dan Price serendipitously while in Bondi Beach, Australia a few weeks back. The parallels between parts of his own experience and mine really hit home—it was such a reminder that no matter who you are or where you are in the world, mental health, hope, and healing is a story of the human experience. And that story is so important to share (at least with your loved ones). Dan’s darkest and most painful time ultimately led to a journey of healing and finding out who he was and what he wanted in life. After a near suicide attempt on the iconic Sydney Harbour Bridge and some time recovering in a psych ward, Dan deconstructed and reconstructed his life through multiple healing modalities which helped him face his shadows. Now he has devoted his life to sharing his story in hopes of inspiring other people.   GET YO GREENZ at www.organifishop.com & use the code BRYANNA15 for 15% off!   IN THIS EPISODE WE TALK ABOUT: Dan’s struggle with stress, ADHD, anxiety, and the pressure both from his family and from his own internal high expectations to live life a certain way. The importance of knowing that it’s okay to reach out for help. The exhaustion that comes from fighting the physical and emotional symptoms of depression. Dan’s near suicide attempt on the Sydney Harbor Bridge, and how he healed by rebuilding every aspect of his life completely to give him a sense of purpose. His commitment to share his story and help others let go of stigma, shame, and self-judgment. Many of the different healing treatments he has participated in. What to look for in a therapist (or another healer), and why it is important to not write off treatment because of one bad experience or a misalignment with a healer or healing modality.  The opportunities that have been uncovered for Dan and the doors that opened once he faced his shadows. How Dan now works as a freelancer in the mental health space and has the freedom to help make a change in all arenas — in the educational system, in corporate structures, and for adult men who otherwise may never feel that it’s safe to speak up about their own struggles. They know the problems they have and they’re looking for salespeople to rethink what’s possible. This has nothing to do with your product features and benefits and everything to do with their business. You need to be able to quickly identify your value and show a direct correlation to their pressing issues. Define the Trigger Moments of Custom Success: When it comes to customer success, it’s not enough to just get your customer to the point of that they can’t live without your product. What you need to really dig into is why they can’t live without it. What are those trigger moments that get them to go from exploring to needing to not being able to live without it? Have the Conviction to Say “No”: Lose the happy ears. Not everything is a good opportunity for you or your company. Could you potentially lose a deal with this approach? I learn to ask myself, who am I? In that I get to create the person I want to be in the world. Thoughts on Breathing I'm not very good at it. I try to do the slow breathing. I don't know why I don't want to take a full breath. I'm lazy. I have tried all the mindfulness techniques of breathing. Especially as a hypnotherapist I learn all these things. I do try to take that earth breath. When you need to get calm, I take this big earth breath; in for seven and out for ten. It does ground you. That is a good technique. I think it's a Hawaiian technique. Suggested Resources Book: Midlife Mojo: How To Get Through The Midlife Crisis and Emerge As Your True Self Book: The Power of Now: A Guide to Spiritual Enlightenment by Eckhart Tolle App: Calm Bullying Story I've got two stories. I'm going to tell you a story from a female perspective. I bullied myself and it wasn't until maybe five years ago that I realized. I remember one day when I was so mean to myself; my thoughts were so mean. I screamed at myself out loud to 'stop it'. I said, 'you would never say that to anyone else. Why are you saying that to you? I know you would never, ever say those words to anyone else, living or dead, so stop it.' I think especially woman, as it relates to our bodies, we are very cruel to ourselves. We give ourselves cruel messages all the time and we need to stop doing it. The only way to do that is to be mindful and to hear the words that we're saying. It stopped. Now when they come up, I say, no, no, no. When you stop and you hear your thought and you go, do I believe that? We don't often question our beliefs. As coaches, that's one of the first things we do with people. We say, what do you believe. In the spiritual terms and the law of attraction, what you believe is what shows up in your life. If you don't have the things that you think you want, it's because you don't believe in them. That's another story. That's a really interesting way to look at bullying, but we do bully ourselves. The second story is, I was married to an abusive alcoholic. He was abusive emotionally and physically. He was a bully. He was my second husband. He wasn't my children's dad. If I were to kiss my boys goodnight, he would call them girls. That is a form of bullying. When it got so bad that I thought my oldest would get between us and hit him, I just stopped that right in it's tracks because I was afraid that he would have a record (my son) and he would never be able to do what he wanted to do in his life. Second Story. After my accident and I was in the hospital, I had a lawyer and he was extremely mean to me. This is a story about how I learned to respond instead of react. He would have me in tears, he would send me nasty letters. I thought, wait a minute, you work for me. It was a big case and he was crazy, but I had a really good friend who had the same lawyer and he was so nice to him. I thought, why is he so mean to me? Does he not like girls? What is it? Eventually, he got fired, but I learned that I didn't have to accept that. I learned that I could choose not to open those letters. I could choose to do things that made me feel better. I want everyone to know that that's your choice. You can choose to react or you can choose to respond.

Episode Summary: There are a lot of things I’ve changed in my life to become happier and healthier over the years.  Today I’m not going to cover surface stuff, like exercising and eating healthier or getting a better job or moving.  All of those things have at times definitely improved my life at times, but today I want to talk more about the FUNDAMENTAL shifts I’ve made in the way I operate my life that have had a profound impact on my happiness.  These are things that, once I made these changes, I became a different person.  A more WHOLE person.  A more CONTENT and peaceful person.  I became a better version of myself through doing these things.  When I’m having a rough day or even a stressful period of my life, it’s usually because I’ve stopped doing at least one of these 4 things.  I wanted to share these things because it took me decades and a LOT of heartache to finally learn to do these things.  It took a lot of work to change habits that were causing me pain, and I wish someone had told me about these lessons earlier in my life… I think it would have saved me a lot of suffering.  We sometimes have to take a long, winding road to learn deep lessons so I appreciate my own journey.  But I’d still love to share this with you in case it’s helpful to you in some way right now.  Show Notes:  http://workingparentresource.com/26 Resources & Links Mentioned in this Episode:  The Power of Now: A Guide to Spiritual Enlightenment, by Eckhart Tolle When Things Fall Apart: Heart Advice for Difficult Times, by Pema Chodron Conversations with God: An Uncommon Dialogue (Book 1), by Neale Donald Walsch [FREE TRAINING] What’s Behind Your Burnout: The 3 Biggest Burnout Triggers and How to Overcome Them Working Parent Resource Website Working Parent Resource Facebook Community About the Working Parent Resource  The Working Parent Resource is dedicated to helping ambitious working parents acquire the information, insights, and tools they need to create a more intentional and fulfilling life that reflects their deepest values and priorities.  Sarah Argenal, the host of the Working Parent Resource Podcast, has her Master’s degree in Counseling Psychology with an emphasis on Marriage and Family Therapy and Adult Development, and is a Certified Professional Coach with over 15 years of experience in counseling, coaching, teaching, course development, and project management. What is the difference between seeing a doctor and a health coach?  Everyone knows the obvious differences like diagnostics and prescriptive rights. What about results?  What kind of long term health results can one achieve with a health coach that they couldn't with an average doctor?  Is there a time when seeing a health coach can lead to better results or is seeing a doctor your only best option? The best person to answer this question would be a doctor who became a health coach!  Nicole Calloway Rankins, MD, MPH is a physician (OB/GYN), and integrative health coach.   Dr. Nicole Rankins joins us today to discuss what an integrative health coach is, how to find the right one for you and when to see one. She has a strong background in women's health. As an OB/GYN hospitalist, she is passionate about making sure mom feels heard, honored and respected while she goes through the most significate time in her life. In our interview, Dr. Rankins also shares her unique perspective, as an MD with a scientific background in research and her passion for holistic health as an Integrative Health Coach.  Above all, when she works with her clients as an Integrative Health Coach she is looking to make sure they feel fully supported and empowered to achieve their health goals. After several years of practicing medicine and engaging in clinical research, Nicole became frustrated that she could make recommendations to improve the health of her patients, but due to lack of time and training, was not actually helping women implement those recommendations into their busy lives. She also came to appreciate that health is much more than what happens in the doctor’s office. She understands that to be truly healthy and well, an integrative approach is needed that considers how emotional, social, environmental, spiritual, and physical health interact. In support of this whole-person approach to health, Nicole completed a science grounded and evidence-based training program in integrative health coaching at Duke Integrative Medicine. She now helps women reach their best health and wellness through both her health coaching practice and her work as an OB/GYN hospitalist. As an integrative health coach, she is an advocate, collaborator, accountability partner and trusted confidant in helping women reach their health goals like losing weight, eating better, exercising more or reducing stress. As an OB/GYN hospitalist, she specializes in the care of hospitalized women, where most of her work is helping ensure women have a safe, enjoyable, and fulfilling experience during labor and delivery. "As an integrative health coach, I am most passionate about helping women understand what integrative health coaching is and how it can be a tremendous help in achieving and sustaining behavior change to improve health. The key is that it utilizes a whole person approach to health and it is individualized to fit each woman's unique life circumstances. Regarding my practice as an OB/GYN hospitalist, I am most passionate about discussing tips for women to have a safe and fulfilling experience while giving birth." In our interview Nicole teaches 3 keys to health: 1- Connect your health goals to what you truly value. When you do that it is easier to accomplish the goal. 2- Understand that you will probably have setbacks. Be prepared that it will happen, forgive yourself and get back in the game. 3- Meditate. This simple activity has so many benefits - reducing stress, anxiety, pain, and depression; and increases your compassion, self-control, focus, and memory. (http://www.advanceyourart.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/09/Screen-Shot-2016-09-21-at-11.33.06-AM.png) What happens when you realize your day job as a White Hat Information Systems security specialist working for the government isn’t as interesting as you thought it would be? If you’re like my friend Nicole Gallub you moonlight as a DJ and get paid to travel around the world. After you find out your manager is taking a huge chunk of your booking fee you fix that by creating a start-up digital booking agencies that is focused on helping artists book gigs, fill out the paperwork, and get paid. MEET NICOLE: Nicole Gallub is a former Information Systems specialist and current DC-renowned DJ, she used her technology background and experience in music to create PELONKEY: a solution to business problems for herself and her colleagues in the entertainment and events industries. In a nutshell, Pelonkey is an entertainment marketplace where people planning events can shop easily and transparently for entertainment options, and performers can manage, protect, promote, and organize their business. Both can find, book, and contract one another online quickly and securely. After graduating from the University of Richmond with honors in the field of Information Systems, Nicole worked several jobs in this field for a decade, including Helpdesk with MeadWestvaco, Network Administration with SITE-Blauvelt Engineers, and then Network Security for various entities within the Federal Government. During this time, she spent my evenings pursuing my passion for music, moonlighting as a DJ, and performing for various local venues and parties within Washington, DC. Fortunately for her, the DJ career became successful enough to leave her career in IT and pursue the dream of working full-time as a DJ/Producer, and DJ Neekola was born. DJ Neekola is not only one of Washington, DC’s favorite DJ’s, but has also been requested frequently overseas in Switzerland, Greece, France, Italy, and Spain. In collaboration with J Punch she owned a record label in 2011 called NomNom Records, bringing on producers such as Dr. Kucho to produce original tracks and remixes, in addition to other talented local producers in the metro Washington, DC area. Neekola also produced an album in collaboration with Rex Riot called “Playtime,” which sold out in the first month of production. Although DJ Neekola’s success paved a path for international fame, Nicole directed her energy to solve key industry problems through technology and created Pelonkey. How about a little quiz? Don’t worry, it’s only one question—Do you control your ego, or does your ego control you? Many of us have been taught to regard the idea of ego with suspicion and judgment. We hear that ego is synonymous with selfishness and try to do whatever we can to get away from it. The truth is, the ego is an integral part of your being, and an important ingredient to designing a healthy, balanced life. The trick is just to be in control of it, rather than letting it guide your life. If at the core of your actions is a desire to help others and add value to their lives regardless of your own benefit, but you understand the need to also make a living, you probably have a pretty healthy ego. On the other hand, if at the core of your actions is a desire to get noticed, to receive accolades, and to be remembered, then your ego is probably getting a little ahead of you. No need to worry, though – there is hope for us all! In this episode, you will… Learn how to transform purpose into profit Understand how to go from ego-driven to purpose-driven for a happier, more successful life! Discover the distinction between mission and purpose and why you need them both Determine whether or not your mission and purpose are aligned for success Hear how to re-engineer your ego to have a more meaningful life I had to go on an ego-balancing journey myself, and I’m here to tell you that after reducing ego, I began to experience more happiness, fulfillment, and success than ever before, because my goals were more than just “me”-centered pursuits. If I can make the change, so can you! Kate Bull is a Bold Self Love Coach and Creator of Bold Self Love TV She helps people to deeply love all of who they are and courageously shift their internal conditioning and blocks so they can create a space to step into living a full and epic life, in the way they truly want. Guiding Principle, Quote or Mantra Nobody can give me what I can’t give to myself. You are you’re own guru. When You Tripped Up Kate was in a relationship for about 6 months and for the first time she was thinking that she could see a future with this guy.  She was thinking that she could either have the relationship or her business and she was leaning toward the relationship. Then she received a call from a women she did not know who said she was also in a relationship with the man Kate was. Her world was turned upside down. What she learned is people come and go in life, and if you don’t have a strong relationship with yourself then these departures will rock your world. Proudest moment in partnership Kate met up with Henare O’Brien ( speakingofpartnership.com/35 (https://speakingofpartnership.com/35) ) when he was creating a community program called Connecting Kids. At the time she was feeling really lost and alone in her life. Henare saw within her the potential to be a leader and asked her to co-lead on the project with him. Kate stepped into the role and he helped her see that she had the same qualities she saw in him. All of the sudden she stepped into doing things she never thought she could do. Now Kate helps people see their own potential through partnering with someone who they look up to or are inspired by. And help them recognize that the reason they are inspired is because that is the qualities they have within themselves. Partnering with a leader to bring out the leader in her was definitely one of her proudest moments. What is the best partnership / relationship advice you have ever received? Love yourself first. This allows her to be with people and feel like it’s a growth experience rather than using someone else to fill her tank. If looking for a mentor partnership, look for people who direct you back to you. Today we have another incredible guest: his name is Dave Payerchin. We met at the Collective Genius Mastermind, and he’s a part of Columbus turnkey houses. He and his partner RJ Pepino specialize in networking, raising capital, system automation and developing and maintaining those relationships. More specifically, they deliver superior service for competitive pricing in Columbus for Ohio investors, and their team understands every aspect of turnkey process from acquisition to resell. So they’re equipped with knowledge and infrastructure to provide a seamless investment experience and a quality product whether it’s investing, lending, buying, selling, property management, or even the federally subsidized rental properties section 8 and they’re just an incredible team. Dave’s company focuses primarily on single family homes, and sometimes up to two to four units. It’s a heavy cash flow market, and right now he’s doing great. He didn’t get to where he is without a fight, however, and that’s one of the things we discuss. Some of today’s other topics include: How you can take control of your life with your attitude    Why he’s developing the ownership mentality Dave’s best Profit Masters investing strategy The story behind how Dave and his partner have reached success as a team Dave’s top reads and business app picks   How real estate became less about the money, and more about self-development We also dove headfirst into Dave’s past. He was a self-proclaimed glorified telemarketer, but explains to us the reasons why that job was actually a big learning stepping stone for him. He tells us that after making $180,000 in his first year in real estate, he was filing for bankruptcy and signing wallet houses shortly after. He mistook debt for revenue, and mistook debt in leverage, so listen up, because as we know, the smartest way to learn is from other people’s mistakes. Our guest really emphasized the importance of staying positive and attracting what you want to achieve in life with your mind and your attitude. This is the breaking point for so many people, because there’s nothing stronger than your mind; what your brain says, goes. He explains how this and his spiritual development have been fundamental to his success. “All of life is an internal battle.” Another great piece of advice we were given today was to surround yourself with people that compliment your weaknesses, and build you up in your business. Personally, he talks about how his partner really helped him overcome his adversities; enough so that Dave quit smoking and drinking, and is now living a much healthier and happier lifestyle. For more information about their business, you can visit the website in the links below, or e-mail them at info@columbusturnkeyhouses.com. If you’re interested in buying great cash flow properties in the Columbus area or have some money you want to start gaining interest on, don’t hesitate to shoot us a message. Make sure to stay tuned for our next episode, where I’ll be interviewing Dave’s awesome business partner and best friend, RJ Pepino.   Links and resources: 10 Secrets for Success and Inner Peace The Power of Now: A Guide to Spiritual Enlightenment Evernote My Fitness Pal
