Lead Teacher Brad Ruggles decided to extend Your Wild and Precious Life: Celebrating the Wisdom of the Feminine, to teach about The Gaia Hypothesis.

Another World is Probable

Many cultures, especially in the West, treat Earth as a set piece, the stage upon which life happens. There's nature and then there's humanity. We're seen as separate and dominant. But as former NASA scientist James Lovelock stated in the 70s with the Gaia Hypothesis, we are not managers of the planet, we are the planet. We are a piece of the complex, self-regulating system. More in this week's post.

The LIUniverse with Dr. Charles Liu

Welcome to Season 4 of The LIUniverse and thank you for joining us on this journey.   We're kicking off the new season with another Chuck GPT episode devoted to answering your questions, and to do that, we've brought back archaeology expert Hannah Liu, MEd. She's not alone: joining Dr. Charles Liu and co-host Allen Liu is The LIUniverse's Social Media Guru, Stacey Severn.   As always, we start off with the day's joyfully cool cosmic thing, Earth's temporary second moon 2024 PT5. Don't get excited, though, because it's only the size of a school bus and won't be visible to the naked eye. But it gives Chuck the chance to ask Hannah about the impact of celestial visitors in the past, and she tells us the story of Caesar's comet (C/-43 K1) which showed up for about a week in the summer of 44 BCE – not long after the assassination of Julius Caesar. Allen also brings up the Great comet of 1680 and how it affected the development of astronomy.   Our first question comes from NSimplexPachinko, who asks, “During condensation of matter to 300,000 years after the Big Bang, did spacetime cease to expand, or did it continue expanding at the same rate as the energy within it?”   Short answer: Yes. For the long answer, you'll have to watch or listen to the show for Chuck's description (honed for the Intro to Astronomy class he teaches) of decoupling, expansion, universal evolution and “BIG, BIG, INFLATION!”   Stacey reads the next question from a listener in Poland. Pshemo Ziembora wonders, “The volume/length of space should be different for every observer depending on how fast they're travelling or how strong the gravity field is. In other words, the speed of light will always be constant for each observer, but it may have a different value than 300,000 km/second. Distances on cosmic scales may vary due to your speed. When you are traveling faster in space your distance should be shorter. What am I missing?”   Chuck explains that Pshemo isn't missing anything and has got it exactly right, describing the insight we now call the “Lorentz Contraction” which Albert Einstein built into his Special Theory of Relativity. Allen explains the physics involved, with an example that includes muons and cosmic rays and how different mediums can impact the speed of light.   Speaking of Poland, Hannah shares a story about licking the wall of the Wieliczka salt mine, which she visited on a trip there. For those of you watching, you can see a photo of one of the caverns hollowed out by the miners, with statues and scenic reliefs carved from the salt. There are no photos of the reported salt tasting.   Our next question comes from one of Chuck's Astronomy 100 students: “Is Earth Intelligent?”   Chuck describes the Gaia Hypothesis, before the group grapples with the question. Hannah looks at the skepticism around the validity of that very hypothesis, and then takes a typical LIUniverse deep dive into Percy Jackson, and Greek and Egyptian mythology. Allen assesses Earth's intelligence through the lens of Artificial Intelligence. Stacey brings up the concept that climate change is the Earth taking revenge on humanity for our actions, which Hannah relates back to Greek mythology, natural disasters, and the role of Demeter in bringing about winter.   Finally, “@I have an unoriginal name” asks, “How does the cyclic model of the universe deal with information not being destroyed.” And Andy Love wonders “about the quantum gravity issue. My thought is that gravity is emergent, from loop or string vibrations, where the outward pulse of the loop or string creates the atoms (Higgs field) and the inward pulse is gravitational force meaning there is no need for a new quantum gravity theory, gravity is already quantum.”   Both of those questions spawned some interesting and far-ranging conversations amongst the group (Can you say slinky cosmology and quantum gravity?) that would be impossible to summarize for you here, so just please watch or listen to the episode now!   We hope you enjoy this episode of The LIUniverse, and, if you do, please support us on Patreon.   Credits for Images Used in this Episode: – 2024 PT5's orbit –NASA/JPL-Caltech – Public Domain – Caesar's comet coin –From ~18 CE in modern Spain, – Public Domain – Comet C/2023 A3 Tsuchinshan-ATLAS – AlexL1024, Public Domain – Great comet of 1680 –Lieve Verschuier, Public Domain – Diagram of the universe's expansion –NASA/WMAP Science Team, Public Domain – Refraction in a block of plastic –Ajizai, Public Domain – A muon's view of Earth –The LIUniverse, derived from “Blue Marble” – Wieliczka salt mine –Rj1979, Public Domain – Gaia depicted on pottery –About 410 BCE, Public Domain – Statue of Demeter –Photo by Marie-Lan Nguyen, CC BY – Lord Kelvin's Analog tide computer –Photo by Daderot, Public Domain – Svalbard Global Seed Vault –Frode Ramone, CC BY – ~1800 year old clothes preserved by a bog – Bullenwächter, CC BY – LIGO gravitational wave signals –Caltech/MIT/LIGO Lab, CC BY   #TheLIUniverse #CharlesLiu #AllenLiu #HannahLiu #StaceySevern #SciencePodcast #AstronomyPodcast #2024PT5 #CaesarsComet #SlinkyCosmology #QuantumGravity #comets #GreatCometof1680 #UniversalExpansion #muon #GaiaHypothesis #PercyJackson #GreekMythology #Egyptianmythology #AI #ArtificialIntelligence #cyclicmodeloftheuniverse #LorentzContraction #AlbertEinstein #SpecialTheoryofRelativity #archaeology

Living Myth

On this Earth Day podcast, Michael Meade begins by looking at the Gaia Hypothesis published 50 years ago and then explores the older roots of the name Gaia, which can be traced back to ancient India where Gaya or Gayatri appears as the ancient goddess of creation. Gaya appears in the Vedas or sacred texts as the source of all knowledge and wisdom. As the “mother of all,” she also had the power to heal all ills and nurture all of life, so that the wellbeing of the planet depended upon the presence and support of Gaya. Originally, the Vedas existed in the form of chants and hymns with the root sound Om being the original tone emitted from the womb of the cosmos. The potent chant known as the Gayatri Mantra was considered the first hymn to come forth from the root sound Om. Thus, Gaya or Gaia whether in sound, in image or in name brings a long lineage that echoes back to the origins of life and resonates with the hidden unity of the world.    In that sense, there was something truly intuitive in the idea of using the name Gaia in a modern attempt to revive the sense of the world being a living entity and all of life being secretly interconnected. In the late 1970's, English chemist Dr. James Lovelock and American biologist Dr. Lynn Margulis published a research paper hypothesizing that living organisms – without intention or agency – could have a regulatory effect on their environment that helped ensure their continued habitability. While the Gaia hypothesis they originated has remained controversial for the last four decades, it has provided a provocative explanation for why the Earth remained more or less clement over its ~4 billion year history, even though the sun that warms it has grown about 30% brighter over that time span. Of course, there have been notable catastrophic exceptions to Earth's habitable stability – in the form of cataclysmic Snowball Earth events that froze the entire planet at least twice in its first 3.5 billion years of existence.  In our latest episode, Probable Futures founder Spencer Glendon explores another application of the Gaia Hypothesis, as it applies to human civilizations. In a December 2023 newsletter, Mr. Glendon examines how for much of the last 12,000 years, humans have been agents in shaping the stable global climate from which we are a beneficiary, through the expansion of agriculture and its related deforestation. By releasing CO2 at rates that balanced the cooling effects of various planetary orbital shifts, humans helped avoid the planet plunging into another Ice Age. But, much like the Snowball Earth events of the Precambrian Era, the advent and acceleration of fossil fuel combustion then shifted people's relationship with climate from stabilizing to potentially catastrophic. The difference between the ancient and modern examples is that now – with awareness of the problem – humans can impact their environment with intention and agency. Join us as we examine how past climate stability has shaped much of humanity's world view, and how that might impact our approach in responding to climate change now.  Follow us on Twitter, LinkedIn, Facebook, and Instagram.Contact us at contact@climatenow.comVisit our website for all of our content and sources for each episode.

Welcome to Part 2 of our interview with father and daughter team Franklin Chang-Diaz, NASA astronaut and founder of the Ad Astra Rocket Company™, and Miranda Chang, Ad Astra's Global Communications Director. We pick up where we left off, with a focus on fathers working with their children! Host Charles Liu shares how much he loves doing The LIUniverse with his co-host and son Allen, while Franklin talks about how important Miranda is to the running of Ad Astra. Then it's on to our next question, from Ebony, who asks, “Do you believe that traveling to space can find ways to fix the problem with climate change?” Franklin begins by reminding us that we would not be aware of climate change if we were not exploring space. And then he describes how the life support system on spaceship Earth is in need of a great deal of maintenance and repair, how at some point there will be more humans than can survive on it, and how he worries that we will damage our environment to the point that our civilization won't be healthy enough to explore space and then we will be doomed. In Costa Rica, Ad Astra is working to transition the country to a green, hydrogen economy. Using solar and wind energy, they generate hydrogen from water, to power their fleet of hydrogen-powered vehicles and fuel cell electric buses. Miranda points out that Costa Rica's electric grid is already nearly 100% renewable, making it a perfect based for doing test projects like these with the goal of reducing carbon. Miranda discusses ways to make the economy of space more sustainable, too, and describes the fuel efficiency of the VX-200 VASIMIR engine (Variable Specific Impulse Magnetoplasma Rocket), their new high-power, electric in-space propulsion system that will have a thirteen-year lifespan. Chuck asks Franklin how me made the transition from astronaut to environmentalist. Franklin explains how the Overview Effect impacted him, and how he came back from space with a tremendous awareness of our environmental problem. Charles brings up the differences between the Gaia Hypothesis and the Medea Hypothesis, which says the Earth may be out to get us and will be fine without us. Somehow, the conversation leads to “The Inner Light” – one of the most beloved episodes of Star Trek The Next Generation, which had tremendous but differing impacts on Franklin and Charles. In the episode, a civilization ignores climate change to the point where it is too late for them to do anything except memorialize their lives and their fate. Miranda talks about the unifying impact of space exploration, and the necessary realization we must reach if we are to survive that we are one species all in this together. Finally, we turn to VASIMIR. Chuck wants to know how it will change our lives, and Franklin likens it to the trucking business that sprung up after WWII because of the availability of diesel engines. As of right now, he explains that we don't have an equivalent for space: “We still fly to space in cannonballs.” What we want, he says, is powered flight over longer periods of time, which VASIMIR makes possible, changing the entire economics of space and enabling humans and the private sector to engage in sustained activity in space. Franklin explains how VASIMIR may someday reduce the time from the Moon to Mars from 8 months to 2 months or less and catalyze the next period of humanity's expansion into our solar system. In fact, it turns out that the engine Andy Weir used in his book The Martian was based on VASIMIR! What is reality? Are we in a simulation? Quantum Gravity Research Founder Klee Irwin joins the Know Thyself podcast today to explore these fundamental questions of existence. He dives deep into The Self-Simulation Hypothesis & Emergence Theory - which he has been studying extensively to solve these very questions. Klee provides insights into the fundamentals of these theories, posing the question of if this IS a simulation, is it: a simulation controlled by a being in another galaxy OR a projection from our future selves. Begging the question of who our future descendants are, if they are still human, and can we communicate with them. It's like the New Forest only newer, as well as more sudden and completely worldwide. But is it here for revenge, or to provide us with some much-needed help? Let's find out as Mathew Hounsell and Kevin Burnard join us to discuss In the Forest of the Night. Notes and links Here's an article on William Blake's ‘The Tyger', from which this episode gets its name (and its tiger, I guess). Delightfully, as well as providing a short analysis of the poem, it reproduces Blake's full version of the poem in its original form as a text on a watercolour painting. Bubble Shock is the extremely unhealthy soft drink created and marketed by the alien Bane in the first story of the first season of The Sarah Jane Adventures. The Gaia Hypothesis proposes that living organisms and the environment in which they evolved form a complex, self-regulating system that keeps the Earth habitable. It was developed in the 1970s and has generally recieved a fair degree of criticism ever since. This episode was recorded well before New York's recent air-quality problems; New South Wales experienced its own version of this in the summer of 2019/2020, just before the pandemic hit. Tyler Volk traces James Lovelock's initial observation that in the search for life elsewhere, atmospheres may offer chemical signatures, which he applied to our own planet, to note the self-regulating cycles and feedback loops that help maintain Earth's adaptive, long-term stability. Our biosphere's various ecosystems, from the soil, ocean, and air are all regulated by living processes, are "biochemical guilds" that help the planet "breath" and  shape long-term dynamics in evolution. What role are we playing in our Anthropocene era? Tyler Volk, Professor Emeritus of Biology and Environmental Studies at New York University, has "built math models for the cycling of elements in what were called "closed ecological life support systems (CELSS)" and his research in advanced life support helped NASA plan  systems that might someday keep astronauts alive on the Moon and Mars. His book is "Gaia's Body: Toward a Physiology of Earth."From the Archives: This live interview was recorded on June 4, 2002 on the nationally syndicated radio program, hosted by Laura Lee . This week on Sustainability Now!, your host, Justin Mog sits down for an expansive conversation with Laura Obenauf about moving towards healthy ecology - the imperative to make space for quality relationships and consciousness as practiced by traditional cultures and indicated by the latest science. Laura is working on an Ecology and Spirituality MA and is taking a pause to focus on possibilities of community-level impact. Her program particularly focuses on indigenous cosmologies, traditional ecological knowledge, animistic worldview and bridging the gap (transforming modern industrialized consciousness) from the mechanistic paradigm to holistic recognition of consciousness that better aligns with Gaia Hypothesis, the latest quantum physics and dividual relationship that indigenous populations have been practicing all along. Laura recommends these Books and Resources: - Ervin Lazslo's Science and the Akashic Field: An Integral Theory of Everything - Freya Matthews' The Ecological Self (Panpsychism - the philosophy that blends ancient animism with latest quantum physics) - Rupert Sheldrake's Morphic Resonance: The Nature of Formative Causation - Mark A. In this week's episode, Nixie revisits Spiritual Ecology for part 3 exploring the Gaia Hypothesis. Scientist James Lovelock was the catalyst for research that showed Gaia, the Earth, is a self-regulating system that is believed to be a singular entity. Nixie explains the theory and hypothesis that shows how we are also a part of this singular entity. Life on Earth regulates itself through the cycles of Earth, air, fire, and water. James Lovelock believes that humans have pushed Gaia to her limits and while the Earth can re-balance herself he explores whether it is too late for the human race. A Self-Regulating Earth? James Lovelock And The Gaia Hypothesis

Back in the groovy, paranormal-obsessed 70s, brilliant, anti-establishment scientist James Lovelock came up with the idea that all process on Earth, including living things, are part of an enormous self-regulating system. This was meant to explain how Earth's various conditions have remained stable, and suitable for life, over millions of years. Calling this idea 'Gaia' after the personification of the Earth in Greek mythology, Lovelock found, perhaps inevitably, that the notion was taken up by the New Age movement. The notion that the Earth was somehow 'alive' became attached to Gaia in the popular imagination. And ever since, the Gaia hypothesis has seemed to exist in a half-way house, neither science nor mysticism. In this episode, Cian takes Gaia back to its original scientific roots. What exactly did Lovelock propose? Has Gaia been accepted by mainstream science? What is its connection to the 'super-organism?' Join us at the Cabin In The Woods to find out.

Does the earth think? Is it really alive? On this Earth Day episode I dive into the theory of Noosphere as coined by palaeontologist Pierre Tielhard de Chardin. This is a "a global unity of consciousness, a 'thinking' sphere circling the Earth above the biosphere, which [would comprise all] human reflection, conscious souls, and love." I explore this topic of a conscious mind of the Earth through various theologians and connections. The incarnation of this type of Noosphere can be connected to the Internet, a web of information that is alive and changing the thinking mind of the earth. The basic principle of this concept is that earth is evolving to a thinking mind to do what is best for the earth. I continue this introspection with the discussion of the Gaia Hypothesis created by James Lovelock and Lynn Margulis, with the belief that, " living systems on Earth, as a whole, were capable of steering the planet toward conditions that were favourable to life." I also discuss earth consciousness in terms of Indigenous cultures, living energy systems on the earth, the earth's chakras and where they are believed to be on the planet, and Ley Lines. All of these energetics are compared to our own human body, there is a symbiotic connection between our internal world and our planet. On this earth day there is no better discussion than that of our participation and connection to earth's evolution. The sources of my information on the topic are: NPR Cosmos and Culture blog, https://www.npr.org/sections/13.7/2015/04/14/399539853/can-the-earth-be-conscious and https://innerself.com/content/living/science-a-technology/8891-mother-earth-alive-conscious-aura-chakras-ley-lines.html Become a part of the Topanga Moon community by joining me on Patreon!! https://www.patreon.com/user?fanlanding=true&u=32629833 and check out more about all these topics on @topanga_moon @anaalic

Cosmopsychism is a school of thought which argues that the universe possesses a conscious mind. While the idea itself can be traced back many thousands of years, there are arguably very few philosophers who take the idea seriously today. Enter Philip Goff, who in recent years is attempting to take his arguments for a conscious universe to the mainstream. In this episode, we explore the mechanics of consciousness and cosmopsychism, look at modern arguments made by philosopher Philip Goff, and ultimately use a variety of ideas to hypothesize what a conscious universe might look like and mean for humanity.Twitter: grand_theoriesInstagram: grandtheoriesFacebook: grandtheoriesEmail: grandtheories@gmail.comMusic:All music utilized under Creative Commons Attribution License 4.01. This interview neatly intersects with last weeks interview with Roy Harlow on Artificial Intelligence - AI - so if you enjoy this interview - you will really get a hit from Roys powerful interview. This is one version of how Transhumanism is perceived: The Transhumanist agenda is more than just Artificial Intelligence (AI), or robots taking over human jobs, or transgender restrooms at public facilities to accommodate an ever growing push for uniformity among the masses. Transhumanism is Posthumanism. It is humanism with the optimism taken out, a movement that advocates for the transformation and the “advancement of humanity through technology” that runs the gamut from nanotechnology to AI. This paradigm is not limited to gadgets and medicine but also molds social, economic, cultural, institutional design, language, and the psyche. To be clear, Transhumanism is a manufactured endpoint to human evolution… Rosanne Lindsay, ND This is the Technocratic viewpoint: Transhumanism is a way of thinking about the future that is based on the premise that the human species in its current form does not represent the end of our development but rather a comparatively early phase. Transhumanism is a loosely defined movement that has developed gradually over the past two decades. Transhumanism is a class of philosophies of life that seek the continuation and acceleration of the evolution of intelligent life beyond its currently human form and human limitations by means of science and technology, guided by life-promoting principles and values. Max More (1990) The conjoining of man and machine? Today’s technologies are becoming so much part of our daily life, many futurists and technologists see a time when humans will merge with machines, or is it that machines will merge with humans?  We already have heart pacemakers, artificial knees, ear pieces, teeth implants etc, whilst the list becomes longer each year. So the gulf between “human” and “machine” is closing. Machine learning has enabled virtual reality to feel more “real” than ever before, and AI’s  replication of processes that were once confined to the human brain is ever-improving. Both are bringing technology into ever-closer proximity with the human body. Bringing in Balance? Regarding the human condition, there is a lot of focus placed on basic computational skills of our left frontal lobes - but it needs to be balanced by emotional intelligence which is part of our intelligence and in more common parlance our heads and hearts have to be working together - and that is true intelligence What is Soul and what is Consciousness? So, what is soul and what is consciousness? We need to extend this debate - hugely - what is the primacy of consciousness to the extent - is consciousness all there is?  That beneath the subatomic realm into the quantum field - does this connect at the deepest level into - consciousness? Sir Arthur Eddington said, ‘the stuff of the universe is mind stuff’ whilst Sir James Jeans said; ‘the universes was one great thought.”   Robin mentions that we also need to consider that our intelligence also involves compassion, care and love and it is so important as we embark in this new era of the computerised realm and that we must not lose our humanity - which is hugely important for our survival as a species and our planet’s  survival as a habitat for biota, but we also have a responsibility of guardianship - as well as for our flora and fauna - and that is only sensible because they look after us.` ‘Out of the body” and “near death” experiences confirm that humans have a detachable consciousness. (Soul Travel?) ‘Out of the body’ and ‘near death' experiences are now experienced by more and more people  (as the world population expands) We have to cover the important information of ‘near death’ and ‘out of the body experiences.’ as the information that the experiencer relays, after the event is incontrovertible There is now ample data on people from all cultures and all walks of life experiencing looking down at their bodies, be it a sports field, a car crash, a heart attack or stroke or being operated on in a hospital. The question then who is that ‘I’? That from a standpoint of soul or a spiritual body signifies that even the non material or non corporeal body can ‘not only see, but remember as well.’ See Dr’s Raymond Moody, Kenneth Ring and Elizabeth Kubler-Ross. Who have spent their life times researching this astounding subject. Then from the doubters viewpoint - that all people who say such things is that they were hallucinating and that the mind is playing tricks on them. Even though the people who were looking down on their bodies remember very clearly all the very concerned conversations that were happening as the doctors frantically worked at keeping their body alive. Telling them afterwards what exclamations were said and what particular actions and even mistakes were made. That upon ‘coming back’ - come out of it and they know it was ‘ Not time for them' - and they also never fear death as being the end. After experiencing these paranormal events, they become infused with compassion as well as a knowingness that will never allow them to doubt - and that life after death is a certainty. The ‘Precautionary Principle’ If we are going to be ‘smart’ about all this - we need to be cautious as to how machines ‘blend’ with humans - if that’s the right word says Robin. What about purpose, compassion and intent - what does it feel to be full and feel joy and fulfilment? Do we through our unknowingness allow certain things to filter into our consciousness - our ordinary day awareness - and conversely what are we finding out and also letting in. Are we conduits or walking antennae? Many mystics would agree. Like when we are asleep or meditating. What are the processes? Like at one end of the colour spectrum we have infrared and the other end - ultraviolet - animals and insects perceive certain colours and hear certain sounds that are of a different frequency - yet we humans cannot. So as we embark into augmenting what it is to be human into machines - we humans may be so unknowing especially of what is life and the ‘feelings’ of what it is to live, to have children and to die  That this all may be sublimated by the workings of an austere stark, machine intelligence. The Transhuman Perspective Covering Ray Kersweil of Google as one of the more out there proponents of Trans humanism - and his statement is about the great coming ‘singularity’ where computer intelligence will completely leapfrog/bypass human intellect and capabilities.   Breakthroughs in biological engineering are coming so fast we can’t predict how they will develop going forward. Crispr, a new type of gene editing technology is transforming our ability to design and edit the genome, was completely unanticipated; experts thought it was impossible ... until it wasn’t. Next-generation gene sequencing is decreasing in price, far faster than Moore’s Law for processors. In many ways, bioengineering is moving faster than computing. Today most promising of nine broad approaches to mortality and aging are genome stability, telomere extension, epigenetics, proteostasis, caloric restriction, mitochondrial research, cell senescence, stem cell exhaustion, and intercellular communication. So with Silicon Valley awash with ideas and scenarios  - especially how to integrate nanotechnology into the human body, you can see the artificial excitement of Transhumanism as tantalising for those who either don’t believe in soul, or those that just want to tinker and make fast, big money. The philosophical ramifications are huge with this current momentum of the fusion of science, technology with biological processes. However, will it be one we sincerely trust that will address societal inequities, the retention of the richness and diversity of our natural systems and indigenous cultures, rather than the somewhat simple and sterile dysfunctional futures depicted by many science fiction writers and futurists. We have to recognise that our navel, our belly button connects us to the magic of the past of spiralling DNA, the family tree and the lineage of species  and not only celebrate our diversity within nature - but to honour it and reconnect with the sacred in all of this. All the way back to the accreting gases and cosmic dust to the molten metals of an early forming Mother earth and before that - to stardust and the big bang, the so called ‘source of it all.’ 5 G the Fifth Generational Wireless and Computer Network Technologies 5 G Wifi comes up again as a major component and enabler to AI and robots by numbers - allied to the internet of all things  - working on wavelengths in millimetres - needing antenna and relay stations every 50 metres or so - outside everyone’s house - connecting everything to everything - driverless cars totally under control - all ambulances given right of way and it is all under control. But, if you are a suspect - the driverless car could, upon a command, lock all the doors and windows and drive you to the local police station. However with 5 G as most people have smartphones, we are all tracked and could be ‘corrected’ remotely - and sadly even our brain waves monitored. Yet, a spin will be put on all this to tell us how very helpful this technology is going to be. First the hand hold phone, then the glasses and the watch - then the body suit and finally the tiny implant under our skin. The ubiquitous use and interface with these technologies is going to be everywhere. Meanwhile quantum theory entanglement - that every thing in theory is connected within the universal - or background field, is omnipresent yet little understood, is also present. Back to 5 G - we will have faster download speeds - so that information is streaming in at us from all directions so that we find we are more than triangulated into a frequency storm of microwave data and information. So the health question is what effect is it having on our bodies? But let’s have the discussion - let’s open this whole story of trans humanism and 5 G as they are essentially all connected - and bring all the information to the world public. Transhumanists, virtually all being atheistic - see the total zenith - the hopeful evolutionary capacity - as being held in our heads and our brains. (note that the heart brain and the gut brain are definitely not included in this equation.)   https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QdneZ4fIIHE     The Heart's Intuitive Intelligence: A path to personal, social and global coherence Eastern Philosophies and Acupuncture Robin talks about the process of emotions etc plus the Eastern philosophies and understanding of the human body - being energetic first and material second - like in acupuncture, that is connected by hidden meridians that Western Science still has huge difficulties with. That through meditation - and getting our brain out of the way - allows our creativity to come through. That we need to be in a state of peace and compassion Whereas transhumanists who do not appear to enter deep states of meditation and enter other deeper realms of consciousness - instead think that by marrying up to computer chips etc that by this technology - they will instead not miss out in other ‘aspects’ of life.  There is a wanting of more - before it is too late and they die - to then basically wipe their hard drive and end the program. Another aspect is that in wanting to get people interested in this tech program is to have people dissatisfied with their life - to want more by way of a computer chip upgrade. And that sets the scene for addictive activities. See last weeks interview with Roy Harlow. Hence the global encouragement for hand held machines and smart phones so that the youth become wedded to these technologies - so that they will not put them down - that they may pick them up hundreds of times a day - pearing in for a magic formula so as to find happiness and fulfilment. Then you are convinced that you don’t need to hold it in your hand -and have it as glasses - i.e google glass, to Apple Watch on your skin and finally what about a little tiny implant - the size of a rice grain - that can hold huge amounts of information with heaps of up-loadable space - and if you do - you can receive benefits from certain other hi tech corporations - with big discounts to nightclubs and drinks or be able to jump the queue and get into a rock concert before most others. That may morph very quickly to rebates on home rates, no or lower charges for credit cards - all sort of methods to lure the unsuspecting into being chipped and unknowingly becoming like Manchurian candidates for the future. Addictions Robin mentions that addictions are born daily out of loneliness and emptiness - we are never satisfied.  And it is the younger folk - who have missed out on any understanding of the great religions and spiritual teachings that will be targeted by AI and any compelling story about Transhumanism -  the selling point - ‘get it while it’s hot.” All these scenarios. The interview also covers Rupert Sheldrake and ‘phantom limbs’  and ‘feelings of being stared at from behind.’ 5 G comes up again - many doctors are not satisfied that it is safe - whilst many professionals are relegating it to the field of not being important.   We are not taking a precautionary - ‘first do no harm” - stand  - primum non nocere   Is the Latin word that Doctors use. It is the babies that will be the easily affected by 5 G plus Cats and dogs and bees to the bacteria on our skin. 5th Generation networks are a world wide deployment - being done nearly all at once Cognitive dissidence on a massive scale is happening and an almost cult like behaviour ‘en masse’ is upon us. That we can impose this technology on our body and TOTALLY improve our lives as a result, is what we are being programmed with. Robots are now in health systems in the UK talking to patients - devaluing the face to face communications between carer and patient. Robin talks about ‘human inter-relations - as a doctor to a patient - and sharing a commitment to care - empathy.  However 5 G does penetrate the skin. The proponents of 5 G say that it does not penetrate the skin very far - however they have a very poor understanding of the ecosystem off the human body - That our skin with billions of invisible bacteria covering us - and we are being irradiated from telephone towers 24/7  plus it is affecting our fertility. Mothers Love comes up as well. 1984 and Brave New world - a fusion of these two stories is now taking place.   Have a listen. This article is not anti atheist per se - My parents were a cross between agnostics and atheists and they were very good, honest, warm, caring people. I have numerous atheistic associates and we by and large see eye to eye on many political, environmental and cultural issues. I interviewed James Lovelock of bringing to us the Gaia Hypothesis many years ago and he said that he was quite happy for his body to return to Mother Earth at the end of his life time, with no expectations of anything else. Dr Jim Salinger: Global Warming, his new book, 'Living in a Warmer World' covering NZ Rainfall, Sea Levels, Glaciers, Fisheries, Soils and Crops etcEx head of NIWA NZ's National Institute of Water and Atmosphere as well as a member of, IPCC, and UN Climate Recipient for the Nobel Peace Prize 2007.This interview also stretches the boundaries of Government action and inaction, Media and denial, having a holistic view point, including questions of geo engineering and chemtrails.NOTE: Expression of predisposition. I do believe that our planet is warming, and in fever, as per the auditory Gaian introduction to this particular program. (Tim). This interview is a critical overview of most of the challenges coming to face the 7 billion plus of humanity including the mega trillions of biota in our biosphere. Our planet Gaia's, fever at present is such that she is shivering and icing up again at the North and South Poles, but towards both the tropic of Cancer and Capricorn our planet is increasingly suffering from heat with both Europe, the USA and Australia breaking record temperatures. And when 'she sweats' with flash flooding - it's also wrecking havoc across her surface.Just like we breathe in and out and the tides ebb and flow, Jim says that the icing at the Poles are a temporary phase, more so in the Arctic and we will see more melting, in particular other extremes, but not necessarily as fast as originally anticipated. This was one of the 'significant factors' that I wanted to cover in this interview. Statements that could be classified as alarmist, especially in the short term. Starting with my last radio interview with Jim back in November 2009 … on the same day of the email hacking and leaking (his included) around Professor Phil Jones of East Anglia University in UK - The emails showed they had problems with the fact that global warming temperatures were not increasingly rising … like a wall chart graph for sales of a very exceptional company. That though continuous increases of Co2 were being produced, this was not translating as 'startling' temperature rises across the board, but instead the Co2 was being absorbed into the upper atmosphere and deeper into the oceans - and this seems to be one of the challenges still prevalent today. Slower rises in global temperatures. Also, the science is still young and compared with 40 years ago, there were very few scientists studying our planet as a whole, James Lovelock, the Father of the Gaia Hypothesis, now a Theory was one of the first scientists to do this. He was seen as a poly math, one who is adept in many scientific disciplines and integrating them into a holistic web of relationships. i.e Geophysiology. So we discuss the number of scientists engaged with climate change and in particular global warming.  What institutions and research centers. Are they paid to do this?  What percentage of them are?  Who calls the shots as to how they are paid? Corporations putting money into universities? The good news is that more scientists are finally engaging in holistic ways of seeing our planet as a whole super system. This being the next evolutionary step in our planetary world view. For example, this would include Geology such as mineralogy, petrology & pedology,  Hydrology, covering oceanology, limnology including glaciology & the cryosphere.  Then the Atmospheric sciences of meteorology, climatology, atmospheric chemistry, and atmospheric physics. As well as disciplines in magnetic and gravity fields. These are but a very few of the many differing (and growing) disciplines that compile the 'earth sciences.'I then 'pushed the river' in a number of instances because many of the dire warnings about rapid ice loss and more hurricanes that Al Gore many years ago warned us was coming and have not happened - and I said that this plays into the hands of the denialists. For example in 2007, Al Gore predicted no Arctic ice In 2013 -  stating US Navy calculations and that I watched him say this on Utube last night. Then I mentioned James Lovelock who fearing the worst in writing his last two books "The Revenge of Gaia ". and The Fading face of Gaia - he too says that he was alarmist ….   He said that Australian Tim Flannery and Al Gore were also. So what was the story? That the melting and global heating was not as rapid as they first 'thought.'Then I asked Jim why the New Zealand Royal Society was not out there actively supporting calls to halt the warming of our planet? Because they mention very little about global warming on their web site.  Last posted article: 23 Sep 2010. That was three years ago. They covered acidic oceans … but that was over 4 years ago. In my estimation they seem to be a cozy little club …. and defer to the rest of the world. Then I jumped over to NZ media especially Leighton Smith on News Talk ZB who brazenly ridicules global warming and has a quarter of a million listeners nationwide and he would be Jim's greatest nemesis on NZ's airwaves. Jim jumps in here and makes some strong points!  And then there is Ian Wishart of Investigate Magazine, who has sold huge number of books in his large seller 'Air Con. If it is so important ... WHY ARE NZ SCIENTISTS NOT ADDRESSING THESE PEOPLE?And that few New Zealanders are championing climate change. To the degree that the present NZ government is pushing for the extraction of oil, and gas by fracking as well as coal mining?  Why are the Scientific community not calling the government to account? Why is the NZ Government laughing behind the back of the global warming scientific fraternity whilst the Act party, who have been supported by NZ's richest men laughs openly at global warming as a total joke?Brian Fallow, one of the very few aware NZ journalists said in this last month, that the Government's refusal to do much of anything to curb New Zealand's emissions is as economically myopic as it is morally contemptible. Then we have Rupert Murdoch who runs so much of the global media … he is anti global warming, and recently had a swipe at Al Gore …  The multi billionaires the Koch Brothers who are so loaded with fossil fuel money and support numerous anti warming organizations are getting away with buying media coverage, as well as keeping the pressure on to keep mining and drilling for fossil fuels.   Then there is Exxon Mobil. Doing the same and over the past decade, they have spent US$207 billion to buy back their own shares. This means if they can own or control 51% of their Corporation, they can do exactly whatever they want. Dictatorship of their own entity! We also covered the challenges for NZ. Increasing sea levels - such as Auckland Metro Magazines January 2008 publication showing a number of frightening pictorial scenarios of Auckland being drowned in various levels of inundation by rising oceans. Note, both Auckland's main motorways are lest than a metre above sea level. Then we covered fisheries and fish migrating towards the south more and more, then soil and 'biological farming' that Graeme Sait is a champion of as well as Arden Andersen, which Jim was not aware of as a major new initiative to change soil health as well as keep carbon in the soil.   Then livestock and flatulence as well as GE and GMO's (Jim expressed no keenness to run with this)  and other subject matter to finally get to geo engineering.I asked Jim about geo engineering, and he said that the UN will be putting out a statement next year about this. He said he was reluctant to engage in this method, that nature should be able to work within her own means to sort things out, not by mans tinkering.Next chemtrails and Jim said that they were ice coming off the wings of aircraft at altitude. However, I stated that then they should dissipate after a short time, why do they remain in the atmosphere for hours on end sometimes stretching nearly from horizon to horizon? As an ex Air NZ flight crew member myself for 17 years, I felt that I had seen enough aircraft 'vapor trails' over the years to notice how they peter out and disappear after 10 minutes or so, but these stay for several hours and that I had been up in New Mexico in the USA in July this year and photographed them from the backyard of the place I was staying at in Sante Fe.I cover this more in depth in Earth Files at the end of this write up.In closing Jim said, that we all have to get educated, and work towards a changing world, that the young Zero Generation , the youth of today is who he has faith in and that we need to become involved in the discussion as our future and children future are most definitely at stake.EARTHFILES for this week. That there is an increasingly ardent call by people and groups of citizens especially across America that the atmosphere is being clouded by long stretching aircraft chemtrails from horizon to horizon is gathering momentum. The question; is a covert operation to curtail global warming, by spraying nano particles into the upper atmosphere to reflect sunlight back into space - happening?  This being an emergency measure to halt overheating? And this is why hurricanes have been minimized and why James Lovelocks computations that global warming was going to be rampant by this time has not occurred, but has been held at bay, or limited by this chemtrail action?Physicians are also talking about health concerns relating to breathing difficulties around the sudden spike in super fine particles of both aluminum and barium being found in both the environment and increasingly in health tests. This vexing question is certainly raising more questions than answers and so am giving just one web site that you can scrutinize to peruse for yourself.http://www.geoengineeringwatch.org

In The Gaia Hypothesis: Science on a Pagan Planet (University of Chicago Press, 2013), Michael Ruse offers a fascinating history of the Gaia Hypothesis in the context of the transformations of professional and public engagements with science and technology in the 1960s. Based on an archive that spans texts, oral histories, and interviews with some of its major figures, The Gaia Hypothesis charts the development of the idea of the earth as a self-regulating organism. Ruse explores the development of the idea by Lynn Margulis and James Lovelock, and analyzes the nature and bases of the reactions to Margulis and Lovelock’s ideas from within different scientific and public communities. All of this is contextualized in a deep history of the different world concepts and philosophies of nature that informed the heated debate over Gaia, considering the idea of the earth as organism and nature as a self-regulating system in a range of texts that include Plato’s Timaeus, the work of German idealists, and the anthroposophy of Rudolf Steiner, among many others. (The attentive reader will also note a surprising connection between Gaia and William Golding’s Lord of the Flies.) The book is full of empathetic, insightful, and often very funny portraits of Margulis, Lovelock, and a community of other figures associated with Gaia and its histories. It is also a wonderfully lively and readable narrative. Enjoy! Learn more about your ad choices. Visit megaphone.fm/adchoices

Today within the biosphere and the vast web of life, an awakening is taking place as the human species, Gaia’s most recent and gifted offspring is stirring. With ecological, economic and societal crises exerting increasing pressure on our planet spaceship Earth, how will we as emergent 'conscious-crew' initiate the pressing and urgent changes to bolster and keep the integrity of our Mothership's life support systems intact? Especially in the face of scant support from old paradigm thinking, programing, inertia and unconsciousness! How will 7 billion inhabitants and a vast majority of disconnected souls survive whilst a malaise settles over a complacent Western world, awash in materialism, distraction and celebrity, whilst under the radar, arming for war?Though not covered in depth, there an is intelligence embedded in matter and throughout nature, and the inspiring realisation, that every human born on this magnificent planet is an “energy bundle of exponential potential,” leads us to acknowledge that we are in a position of profound opportunity and privilege, to unfold a new heart oriented consciousness from the grass roots and community upward which 'in actuality' we can realise at any moment of our existence. Tim Lynch originally from Matamata - Hobbiton and of European and Maori ancestry, has studied the Gaia Hypothesis since 1984, and flew as international crew with Air NZ in near earth orbit for 17 years, where he intuitively was able to experience a planetary perspective unique to this age. For whilst flying through Gaia's respiratory system, it also enabled him to visit and study most of the many ancient civilisation sites as well as meet up with leading edge philosophers, thinkers and initiators and stay in many spiritual communities, ashrams and co-operatives.And … ask the perennial question, how do we mobilize consciousness?Tim Lynch Host of GreenplanetFM is interviewed on his historical roots, insights, intentions and his reason for communicating, by David Ford.

Marguerite Rigoglioso, author of Virgin Mother Goddesses of Antiquity we will discuss evidence that Goddesses were once understood to have been virgin mother creatrix deities and how goddesses originally did not need male consorts. We'll delve into parthenogenesis, the Gaia Hypothesis (the earth is a living entity) and was Gaia an actual goddess? We'll talk about the older Athena, the one not born from the head of Zeus. We'll delve into Marguerite's original analysis of the Eleusinian Mysteries and the Thesmophoria (rites of Demeter and Persephone) and how this myth encodes a story of female self-replication. We'll delve into the argument that Persephone's rape by Hades was a huge cosmic event that marked the interruption of the parthenogenetic capacity of the goddesses and more....tune in. You won't want to miss this entire show dedicated to Marguerite's work.

The Gaia Hypothesis suggests that the various lifeforms on earth interact to sustain the habitability of the planet. But, could the opposite be true? Is life on earth self-destructive? On this program, Prof. Peter Ward discussed the Medea Hypothesis.

Guest speakers: Rupert Sheldrake, Terence McKenna, Ralph Abraham PROGRAM NOTES: "The Gaia Hypothesis of James Lovelock [and Lynn Margulis] puts forward a scientific view of the living Earth, which in one respect is modern, empherical, scientific, in another respect re-awakens an ancient archetype, which in fact is so clearly suggested by the very name of the hypothesis, Gaia, the Greek name for Mother Earth." –Rupert Sheldrake [Speaking of the past:] "So there's a kind of resurgence of the sense of freedom and spontaneity in nature. From nature being bound into a rigid, deterministic model, freedom, spontaneity and openness are emerging once again. It's now recognized the future is open, not determined by the past. And this is true in many realms, the astronomical realm, the human realm, the meteorological realm in many ways." –Rupert Sheldrake "The basic idea I'm proposing is that the so-called ‘Laws of Nature' may be more like habits. They may depend on what's happened before and on how often it's happened. So there may be a cumulative memory in nature, largely unconscious, which gives rise to habits and things, which accounts for the stability of nature as we know it. But this is not all governed by eternal laws that were there at the Big Bang." –Rupert Sheldrake "The English couldn't bear this void for long, caused by the suppression of pilgrimage [by the Protestant Reformation], and within a few generations had invented tourism, which is best seen as a form of secularized pilgrimage." –Rupert Sheldrake "I think a great move forward would happen when astronomy and astrology link up once again." –Rupert Sheldrake "If the Sun has a kind of consciousness, then what about the entire galaxy, with this mysterious center?" –Rupert Sheldrake "What we call the imagination is actually the universal library of what is real, that you couldn't imagine it if it weren't real, somewhere, sometime. And that to me is very empowering because that's the truth that you learn at the center of the psychedelic experience that's so mind boggling that you can't really return with it, that it's real." –Terence McKenna "Now it's time to realize that trying to reason upward from the laws of atomic physics to organism is not going to work. That there are … emergent properties at every level." –Terence McKenna Download MP3 PCs – Right click, select option Macs – Ctrl-Click, select option Galaxy Map Hints at Fractal Universe
