Welcome to day 2 of The 12 Nightmares Before ChristmasFifty-five-year-old Margarette Eby lived a rich and full life as a music professor at the University of Michigan. Margarette was well-liked by her students and coworkers and had several grown children of her own. Around 4:30 in the afternoon on November 9th, 1986, some of Margarette's students arrived at the cottage to take her to a concert. When the students knocked on the door, they were met with silence. Finally, one of them tried the doorknob, and it was unlocked. They entered the cottage and found a grisly scene.Margarette Eby was Flint, Michigan's 56th homicide that year.Five years later, in hotel room 354 in Romulus, Michigan, the wake-up calls from the front desk went unanswered. A 41-year-old flight attendant, Nancy Jean Ludwig Lud wig, from Minnetonka, Minnesota, had checked into room 354 around 9 P.M. the night before. Nancy had been a flight attendant for Northwest Airlines since 1976 and enjoyed her job quite a bit. It was about 12:50 in the afternoon when the housekeeper opened the door to a pitch-black room. The housekeeper walked over to the window and, upon opening the curtains, turned and discovered Nancy Jean Ludwig. She had been stabbed to death. Both cases went cold until 2002 when new technology helped investigators find their killer, Jeffrey Wayne Gorton.Join Cam and Jen as they discuss "Room 354: Jeffrey Gorton"Thank you to our team:Written and researched by Lauretta AllenListener Discretion by Edward October from https://www.youtube.com/c/octoberpodhomevideoExecutive Producer Nico Vitesse of https://theinkypawprint.comSources:https://mdocweb.state.mi.us/otis2/otis2profile.aspx?mdocNumber=428571https://murderpedia.org/male.G/g/gorton-jeffrey.htmhttps://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jeffrey_Gortonhttps://www.amazon.com/gp/video/detail/B017VDEE7I/ref=atv_dp_season_select_s2 (S2E8 of Your Worst Nightmare on ID “Fight or Flight”)https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UTRvWZIpw-I It is also featured on the Forensics Files episode "Silk Stalkings." This week on the show, we finally get around to covering the super sexy/supremely silly Silk Stalkings. "It's the Great Pumpkin, Harry" is a baffling Halloween episode that barely matters because it's all a dream, but gets even dumber with the more you think about it. Why exactly is this boss dreaming about his employees having sex with strangers? Why do the characters seem to have some understanding that they're in a dream? And what exactly was that movie he was watching? It's a ridiculous show that is easily one of the stupidest things we've ever covered and it's great fun.  If you like the show, give us a rating on Apple Podcasts. Today on the Rarified Heir Podcast encore edition, we are talking to Innis Casey, son of writer/producer J. Rickey Dumm who worked with friend, classmate and iconic TV show hitmaker Stephen J. Cannell on many of his hit shows including Magnum PI, Silk Stalkings, Renegade and Rockford Files among others. Innis is brutally honest about his writer/producer father and his years growing up which was both fantastic and downright scary. This episode pulls no punches and I don't' think Innis would have had it any other way. Aside from his years growing up with trips to Hawaii for Magnum, we learn that for a good period of time in the early 2000s, Innis made quite a name for himself in Latin music, becoming the much sought after star, Innis (like Charo, no last name) touring Mexico, Spain and both South America and Central America as a Latin pop star. Really, how many among our guests did a photo shoot for a magazine cover with Christina Aguilera? And believe me, we've seen it when someone gets all aflutter seeing Innis out and about in public in Los Angeles. So how does a white dude from LA become a Latin pop star? Ah-ha! That's the rub. You will have to listen to his story, right here, right now on this edition of the Rarified Heir Podcast. Everyone has a story.

Today on the Rarified Heir Podcast, we are talking to Innis Casey, whose father J. Rickley Dumm was a writer and producer in the 1970s, 80s and 90s on shows like The Rockford Files, Adam-12, Magnum P.I., Silk Stalkings, Stingray, Renegade and more. He and his college roommate Stephen J. Cannell worked on a massive amount of television shows after selling their first script together for the series It Takes a Thief. Innis talks to us about growing up with his dad which at times wasn't easy to say the least. In the go-go 80s, excess and a short fuse were a lethal combination and it led to some difficult professional and familial moments for the family. One minute, Innis is learning to swim in Hawaii on the set of Magnum and the next, he's seeing his father blackballed out of Hollywood for his out-of-control behavior. It's probably the most intense and truthful episode we've ever done on the podcast. We also learn about Innis' own career as a Latin pop star whose big break in the business is about to happen just when it gets detailed on 9/11. So what does he do? Innis becomes an actor who becomes a recurring role on the Kiefer Sutherland series 24, acts in films with Jonathan Winters and Jacqueline Bisset & today is an in-demand photographer whose Quartraits book chronicling the beginning of the Corona Virus in 2020 was covered by CNN, HLN, ABC7 and KCBS2. It's a sprawling conversation that at times is emotional and Innis pulls no punches. It's not always an easy listen but because it's innis Casey talking, it's an  ultimately rewarding and redemptive story. This episode isn't for the faint of heart. It's ultimately a story of finding your own way in the chaotic world of celebrity. This is the Rarified Heir Podcast.

The attack on Pearl Harbor happened, his father's brother, who was also his best friend, got killed in the war. We start with the horror cornerstone of WWE Studios: See No Evil (2006) starring Kane / Glenn Jacobs. Next is Dragon Blue (1996), featuring wrestling legend The Great Muta / Keiji Mutoh. After that we review Fallen Angels (2006) featuring Christy Hemme as the demonic "Lust." And lastly, after teasing "Doom is coming" for months, we make that decidedly literal by reviewing Doom (2005) starring The Rock / Dwayne Johnson. In true wrestling fashion, the episode also features "run-ins" by our previous pod guests Fred Schatz and Jeremiah Jones-Goldstein, so this episode also serves as an oversized finale to our first year (we released two episodes back in our first month). So fix yourself an oversized side of potato salad and settle in for a fun chat spanning wrestling memories of our youth, a lot of laughter, and lot of whimpering, several references to Silk Stalkings and finally four horror movies that are fascinating distillations of their sub-genres. We really hope you enjoy this episode, and thanks so much for listening!! TIMECODES: *See No Evil = 00:15:04 *Dragon Blue = 01:28:49 *Fallen Angels = 02:48:15 *Doom =04:36:09

It's another thriller, but we aren't thrilled by 1988's D.O.A., featuring Dennis Quaid as a former wunderkind novelist turned tenured professor in a rut. No: really. Is that off-label casting why this confrontationally sweaty film doesn't work? Is it the lack of onscreen chemistry between Quaid and Jane Kaczmarek...AND Jane and Meg Ryan? Does a fetal Robert "T-Bag" Knepper need more to do? New Coke, Silk Stalkings, Wonder Boys, Binder & Binder, and the heartbreak of chronic zydeco all factor into our discussion of a "noir" in which noir wit doesn't factor...at all. Brian Trenchard-Smith is an Anglo-Australian film and television director, producer, and writer, with a reputation for large scale movies on small scale budgets. Quentin Tarantino referred to him in Entertainment Weekly as his "favorite obscure director." His early work is featured in Not Quite Hollywood, an award-winning documentary released by Magnolia in August 2009. Born in England, where his Australian father was in the RAF, Trenchard-Smith attended UK's prestigious Wellington College, where he neglected studies in favor of acting and making short films, before migrating to Australia. He started as a news film editor, then graduated to network promos before he became one of a group of young people that, as he recalls, "pushed, shoved, lobbied and bullied the government into introducing investment for Australian made films." He persuaded Australia's largest distribution-exhibition circuit at the time, the Greater Union Theater Organization, to form an in-house production company that he would run. The company made three successful films in a row, and his career was underway. In parallel careers, he was also founding editor of Australia's quarterly Movie magazine for 6 years, and has made over 100 trailers for other directors in Australia, Europe, and America. Among early successes were The Man From Hong Kong, a wry James Bond/Chop Sockey cocktail, the Vietnam battle movie Siege Of Firebase Gloria, and the futuristic satire Dead End Drive-In, a particular Tarantino favorite. BMX Bandits, showcasing a 15-year old Nicole Kidman, won the Prix Chouette in Europe, as Best Saturday Matinee Movie. Miramax's The Quest/Frog Dreaming, starring ET's Henry Thomas, now on Blu Ray, won a prize at Montreal's Children's Film Festival. He has directed 43 episodes of television series as diverse as Silk Stalkings, Time Trax, Five Mile Creek, The Others, Flipper, Chemistry, and the Showtime docu-drama DC 9/11: Time Of Crisis, one of five movies he made for the network. Among Trenchard-Smith's recent films are Long Lost Son, starring Gabrielle Anwar and Chace Crawford for Lifetime, and the family drama disaster movie Arctic Blast., starring Michael Shanks and Bruce Davison, which premiered on Spanish television as the number 1 movie with a 15.6 market share, and more than 2.5 million viewers. In Dublin he shot The Cabin, a rom-com starring Lea Thompson for the Hallmark Channel. He produced and directed Absolute Deception, a thriller starring Academy Award Winner Cuba Gooding Jr. Recently released through Image is Drive Hard, an offbeat action comedy with John Cusack as the bank robber and Thomas Jane as his reluctant driver. His body of work has been honored at the Paris Cinema, Karlovy Vary, Melbourne, Brisbane and Toronto Film Festivals. In 2016 he received a Lifetime Achievement Award from the Fantaspoa International Fantastic Film Festival. The National Film and Sound Archive of Australia recently hosted a three city retrospective of his films. He is a member of the Masters of Horror Circle, and is a contributing guru to Trailers From Hell. He is married to Byzantine historian Dr. Margaret Trenchard-Smith, and lives in Portland, Oregon. His debut novel Alice Through The Multiverse was published in 2018. His new book Adventures in the B Movie Trade is now available on Amazon and Kindle.

With one of the Daves at the beach when we recorded, we decided to try our first random, (almost) totally unprepared episode based on movies & TV shows with the ocean, beach, or water in general as the theme. Board our submarine as we take deep dives into Aquaman, Waterworld, Lost, Pacific Rim, and Down Periscope. Put on your swim trunks as we go for quick dips into Earth Girls Are Easy, Hot Tub Time Machine, The Princess Bride (Andruw finds a way of justifying that entry), Leviathan, Deep Star Six, Last Resort, USA Up All Night, and Silk Stalkings. And, put on your floaties as we splash around in the shallow end of the pool with at least brief mentions of Star Trek IV: The Voyage Home, Muppet Treasure Island, Battleship, The Shape of Water, Splash, Cocoon, and much much more. Superheroes, mutants, mysterious islands, monsters & giant robots, antique submarines, hot tubs, nuclear submarines... Prepare for dive! We've got it all as we cover lots of geeky things related to the ocean, beach, and water. And no exaggeration - it's one of our favorite movies from this year. Then, Lee Unkrich. For over 20 years now, he's been one of the leading creative voices at Pixar. He worked on Toy Story, Finding Nemo, A Bug's Life, a bunch more. He directed Toy Story 3, probably the darkest and most affecting of the movies in that series. Now, he's directed Coco, the newest Disney / Pixar movie. Set in Mexico, Coco is a story wrapped up in the Mexican day of the dead - dia de muertos. He'll talk with Jesse about the making of Coco and lots more, especially his time working on Silk Stalkings, the classic 1993 erotic police procedural on USA.
