Sara Salazar - Autoimmune Disease and Pulmonary Fibrosis When I originally recorded this episode with today's guest Sara Salazar there were 2 things that stood out to me then and they stay with me even now. The strength of such a small family unit, Sara, her brother and their mom and the influence of a mother's unwavering faith. Sara had watched her mom overcome obstacle after obstacle, challenge after challenge. Sara held onto the hope that they'd be able to catch that needed break and things would level out for them and be a little easier. So what would they do when a health diagnosis shakes the one foundation that their mother stands on? Solid. Unwavering. This mom's faith in Christ alone was non-negotiable. But what happens when the expectations we have of God our ways of defining what it means for Him to show up are not fulfilled? In my conversation with Sara, now a young woman in her mid 20's, she shares the story of her mom through the eyes of a young teen. When Sara was 14 she received devastating news. Her mom who had scleroderma, an autoimmune disease finds out it has brought the onset of pulmonary fibrosis. It is a rare lung disease that affects 1 in 20,000 people. pulmonary fibrosis would scar her lungs making it difficult to breathe. Upon receiving the bleak diagnosis, her mom stepped out in faith and shared that she believed God would heal her. Sara stood in agreement with her mother. They joined together in shared faith, believing that God would heal her. The faith community joined in faithful prayer for healing. We all know that God has promised to never leave us alone especially in our pain and suffering but we also have to admit that there are times that God in His Sovereignty does not move the mountains that we so desperately pray for Him to move. And that was Sara's experience. God did not heal her mom on this side of heaven. When Sara was 19 she laid her mother to rest. I'll admit that a believer's death is the ultimate healing but what about those left behind to deal with the pain of separation? How would Sara make sense of a good God and the reality that He did not intervene in her mother's suffering nor did He stop her death. The good deposit that Sara's mom made in her life, a fierce faith, the kind that weathers the storms and deeply painful seasons was then and is now, the life preserver of truth that keeps Sara firmly planted on solid ground. May you be as blessed as I was to hear this precious woman's story of genuine struggle, the revelations she received and what it looks like for her to arrive at a place of peace despite her deep pain.   Get Connected with Sara Social Media:  https://www.instagram.com/justbeingsara/ https://www.facebook.com/sara.salazar.3323/ https://www.joinclubhouse.com/@justbeingsara Website - Need help through your journey of grief? Tarilian Laser Technologies (TLT)  was a medtech company founded by husband and wife team, Dr Sandeep and Nita Shah, who bamboozled everyone from the UK government to PWC. They claimed to have a revolutionary wearable blood pressure monitor, powered by a secret, proprietary algorithm. They raised millions, before everything came crashing down. This is an audio exclusive with the journalist who just broke the story in The Sunday Times, Sara McCorquodale, founder and CEO of CORQ. When Sara, a former journalist, first heard what TLT had done, she knew it was a story she had to report on and has spent the last year investigating.“It was just six lines of JavaScript”, said Sara, of the secret algorithm. “It was a GCSE level sum, it wasn't an algorithm, it was barely an equation. And that sum had a £52 million valuation.”“Sandeep and Nita Shah, they were very credible characters… Usually you don't Google the person who owns the [scam] company and find search results which include them winning awards, and being endorsed by the government of their country.”It was a 13-year scam. How did they get away with it so long? Where did all the money go? Why didn't anyone raise the alarm?Links:The Theranos storyTarilian Laser TechnologiesBook - Influence: How Social Media Influencers Are Shaping Our Digital FutureWant to receive our podcast on a weekly basis? Today on Hook of a Book, I review A Place at the Table, by Laura Shovan and Saadia Faruqi. When Sara and Elizabeth are paired together in an after school cooking class, they don't exactly hit it off at first. At all. Elizabeth finds Sara serious and not fun, and Sara, who's Muslim, finds Elizabeth confusing and hard to predict. However, when the two girls try to come up with a unique, cross-culture dish, they become friends. Sadly, friendship comes with a price. Can the girls withstand haters, racism, and social challenges to build a better bond? This book was really awesome, and I read it for four hours straight one day! I highly recommend it. If you have a book you want me to review on the show, email me at hookofabookpodcast@gmail.com. You can also send in a voice message that might be featured on a future episode of Hook of a Book, just like Juniper and Bea's was today! Hallelujah! We are seeing a shift in the job market in the sports industry!     Tell me this. How are you feeling about your cover letter and resume writing skills? What about writing blogs?     Tune in to my conversation with Sara Salam, former HR professional for the Boston Red Sox and LA Clippers turned author of ten books and counting...including her latest book, How to Write a Resume.     Sara shares some of her favorite tips for writing cover letters, resumes and blogs!    If you’re in the midst of a search or thinking about starting to look for your next move, you don’t want to miss this convo!    Connect with Sara:  bysarasalam.com/careerconsulting    Sara, The Early Years Sara caught the writing bug when she was in grade school. First published at age 11 by her hometown newspaper the Daily Pilot, Sara wrote movie reviews for the publication until she went to college. During her tenure at Corona del Mar High School, she joined the school newspaper Trident her junior year. She was named Editor-in-Chief her senior year. While in college at UCLA, she became the Sports Editor of the Daily Bruin her junior year and continued to write as a member of the senior staff until she graduated.   Sara, Post-College At age 22, Sara’s first job out of college was a customer service role in the ticket office of the Boston Red Sox. She loved sports and always found the industry a forward-thinking and progressive business, in addition to being a unifying force amongst people. After one season, she was promoted into a role in Human Resources. The HR function allowed her to do what she enjoys most (aside from writing, of course): to educate and develop people. Sara believes all human beings should feel safe and empowered in pursuit of their dreams. In the corporate setting, HR was the best place for her to do that.   After another four seasons with the Red Sox (including a 2013 World Series Championship!), Sara accepted an opportunity to become the HR Manager for the LA Clippers. The  promotion also relocated her back to the west coast and close to her family. The proximity to her loved ones continues to be a priority for her.   Back To Writing Sara has kept journals of all her experiences consistently since her move to Boston, amounting to about a decade’s worth of content. She started a blog in 2017 as a place for her to centralize her thoughts and ideas about people, the workplace, and life itself. When Sara turned 30, she considered reassessing her HR career and pursuing a different professional path – towards writing. The next year, she published her first book, the My Truth Journal. The My Truth Journal is a daily journal framework for people who want to make journaling a regular practice but don’t know where to start.   After her dad passed away in 2019, Sara realized she didn’t want to waste any more time not doing what she loved. She knew writing was always going to be an integral part of her life. She resumed writing poetry for the first time since high school, and has since published multiple poetry collections including Love Isn’t Linear and My Newport. She also finished her first novel If Water Were Fire, which she started writing in 2018 (and stopped before starting again in 2019) and finished just weeks after her dad’s passing. Her current backlist can be found here.   Sara’s Inspiration Each of Sara’s works speak to the underlying theme that truth is personal. Sara calls on her own life experiences to tell stories about how she discovers the truth about truth, and shares these findings with her readers. Through her fiction, nonfiction, and poetry, Sara invites her readers to make their own decisions about how personal the truth really is. When Sara isn’t writing or  reading, she can be found walking on the beach with her red husky Neela, taking a yoga class, or adventuring to new places- all sources of inspiration for her books.   Connect with Jahaan:  Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/jahaanblake/ Email: jblake@jahaanblake.com Website: https://jahaanblake.com/ LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/in/jahaanblake/

Sometimes it can be exhausting, but being too stubborn to quit when things are hard is something that Andrea and Sara both have in common with the pioneer nuns at the center of this weird story. Fortunately, not all of our research into bricks leads us to the existential questioning we are now both familiar with. We LOVE when our questing leads to the FUN kind of high strangeness we live for instead. When Sara bought a random antique fire brick from Fulton, Missouri on ebay for some weird reason, it actually ended up being a hint to look into the area. Soon she discovered an artist from Fulton who was making cursed objects similar to her own "cursed repaints," and we just knew we had to talk to them! Patricia O’Connell interviews Sara Hurst, CEO of Bella’s Kitchen, on the origin of Bella’s Kitchen, how Sara runs it, and Sara's plans for it. Sara shares more about her family background of successful entrepreneurs in El Salvador. Sara is grateful for her family, friends, and professional resources that help her to succeed in this new venture.   Listen in to this encouraging account of growing a business by meeting a real food need for busy mothers. Key Takeaways: [:29] Patricia O’Connell welcomes Sara Hurst to CEO Stories with This is Capitalism and asks about Bella’s Kitchen. [:53] Bella’s Kitchen offers convenient, healthy meals for kids and families. It is based on baby-led feeding. Babies try different foods with this method. This also avoids overfeeding babies when they don’t want to eat anymore. [1:35] Sara started the business in April 2020, at the beginning of the pandemic. Sara came up with the idea when she started feeding solid foods to her daughter, Isabella. She started researching how to introduce new foods to her baby and she found the concept of baby-led feeding. She decided to feed Isabella with that method. [2:35] Sara found out that baby-led feeding takes a lot of cooking and meal preparation for one baby. [3:18] Sara found canned or frozen choices, mostly pureed foods in the grocery store but she wanted fresh foods for Isabella. She also wanted Isabella to have a variety of foods to develop her palate and not become a picky eater. [3:57] As she was introducing Isabella to solid foods, Sara was going to the office daily, and Isabella was spending the day in daycare. Sara explains how the business idea of a meal service for busy mothers came out of her food preparation experiences for her baby and her experience serving healthy foods at parties. [6:16] Sara had seven children, from babies up to age 11, at her first photoshoot for Bella’s Kitchen. It was a scary moment for her; Sara knew that if the children didn’t like the food, it would show on their faces. They all liked it and the photoshoot went well. [6:55] Sara had her friends and their children try different recipes for taste and serving size. Sara also used her background in marketing to conduct surveys to make sure she was serving the needs of other parents, not just her own needs. [7:44] The more Sara thought about bringing her recipes into a business, the more ideas came to her for new recipes and products. She was determined to make a business out of her concepts. Her husband and friends also encouraged her. [8:45] Sara worked the numbers to see what she could afford to lose if the business didn’t work out. [9:10] Sara decided three months would be the appropriate trial period to test the business model to see if she would start making a profit. She knew the worst that could happen would be losing her startup money and having her pride hurt. [9:27] Over the last year, Sara worked on branding, the marketing plan, recipes, packaging, and permits. One big step was finding a commercial kitchen. She set a launch date in March, and then COVID-19 hit. [10:00] Sara explains how she went from hesitation over starting a business during a pandemic to moving ahead with her launch in April. [10:52] Sara works full-time outside of her role at Bella’s Kitchen. She explains how she fits everything into her schedule. Sara’s mother had raised three children as a single mother, working full-time while running a side business; she was a great role-model for Sara. Sara’s husband takes care of their children while Sara runs meal production. [13:17] Sara always wanted to be an entrepreneur like her mother. She loved cooking, but having worked in the food industry, she noticed that there’s not a lot of margin in a restaurant, so she knew she didn’t want to have a restaurant. [13:45] When Sara thought of Bella’s Kitchen, she knew that was the business she wanted. [14:09] Sara has noticed that sometimes both men and women think the idea of Sara running her business is “cute.” They underestimate her business vision and drive because she is a woman. They think it’s a hobby. [15:38] Not just for Bella’s Kitchen, but also for different caterers, people think the business is a little thing, run out of a kitchen. Sara works out of a commercial, licensed kitchen. Sara prices her meals just as any business prices their products and services. [16:29] Sara took business classes to learn about a business plan. She reads a lot and listens to a lot of podcasts. Sara worked with the Arkansas Small Business and Technology Development Center; they helped her with local market research, what license she needed, and how to get licensed. [17:52] Sara’s advice to people looking to make a business: you need to have more than an idea. There needs to be a problem and your idea needs to solve that problem. Some great ideas don’t necessarily serve a market purpose; you might not be able to find the customers you need. Don’t just think of your idea, but your clientele. [19:09] Sometimes people with good ideas don’t give enough time for the idea to flourish. [19:57] This is Sara’s first business. She doesn’t know if it will be her last. [20:21] Sara is doing the recipes and the cooking, in a commercial kitchen. [20:34] Sara wants Bella’s Kitchen to get as big as it can get. Sara credits the CEO of First Orion, where she works full-time, with understanding that people have their own passions. If Bella’s Kitchen gets so big she has to devote her attention to it full-time, then so be it. Sara talks about giving her full attention to each career. [21:52] Sara organizes her vacation schedule on a spreadsheet! Sara took the Birkman personality assessment at work and she is completely a “doer.” [23:06] Sara’s mom is proud of all her children’s success. She set a great example for them. Sara’s maternal grandfather is also a successful entrepreneur who now owns a coffee plantation. Sara shares his story. [24:34] Bella is 21 months old, so she has time to develop her entrepreneurial streak. She is already a photo model for Bella’s Kitchen. [25:10] Sara says you can’t have it all. Each decision is a deliberate choice. WIll she workout or will she work on her friendships? Each day she devotes time to what matters for that moment. You have to make time for yourself. Sara takes at least an hour every week to think just for herself, not for her family and business roles. [26:55] Sara reviews the support she has received from family and the Arkansas Small Business Center. Sara’s sister and nephew are the best trial customers for Sara. Sara thanks her friends, and her monthly book club where Sara shares ideas for honest feedback. [28:04] Sara hopes one day to have Bella’s Cookbook. [26:23] Sara shares Bella’s Kitchen website (bellaskitchenus.com), Facebook (@bellaskitchenus), and Instagram (@bellaskitchenus) links (links below). Green Gab Podcast – Green Homes, Green Living and Green Companies

The desire to create a green and healthy environment comes to everyone from a different place, and for many of us, it was something in our childhood that initially sparked our interest. My guest for today, Sara Ivey, spent much of her childhood playing outside, and gardening, composting, and recycling was the norm in her family home while she and her brother were growing up.  I invited Sara to join me on the podcast to talk about the Oklahoma Green Schools Program, to discuss the role she plays in the Department of Environmental Quality, and to explain the importance of helping our children understand where all their resources come from. About Sara Sara wears several different hats. In her first role, she is the Executive Director of the Oklahoma Green Schools Program, which involves working with schools all across Oklahoma and helping them to go green in a way that best suits each school. In her other role, she is the Education Coordinator for the Oklahoma Department of Environmental Quality, and that meshes very well with the Oklahoma Green Schools Program. The Oklahoma Department of Environmental Quality graciously allows Sara to work on the Oklahoma Green Schools Program under the umbrella of the Education Coordinator. Recycling  When Sara was very young, her parents introduced her to gardening, composting, and recycling, even though recycling was not very cool, or common in the 1980s. Her parents used to drive their recycling to a drop-off point on Saturday mornings. Water is a precious commodity When Sara was in college, she became interested in environmental topics. She grew up in New Mexico, so she was always aware of how precious water is as a commodity, and so became very interested in water resources and started studying everything she could about the environment. That ultimately led her to where she is today. A wasteful society We live in a very wasteful society, and although living a green life seems very natural for some of us, it is still a relatively new way of living. Our grandparents did not live in that same way as we do now, so they generally have a much better grasp on how to use resources wisely. School children need to understand where the resources come from Every school kid is going to grow up to be a consumer, and one day, they will be making all the decisions. That’s why it is so important for them to understand where all the resources come from, as early on as possible, so that they can make the best decisions, and set themselves up in the best way possible. About the Oklahoma Green Schools Program The Oklahoma Green Schools Program got started by a group of interested parties with different areas of expertise. They were energy experts, architects, and people who knew a lot about water, and they wanted to help the schools that did not have the expertise to understand how to save resources, like water, energy, and landfill spaces. Six steps to certification They wanted the schools to be able to say that they got certified as green schools, so they created six steps to certification. And they also made flags to promote the program within the schools. The Oklahoma Green Schools Program is not just for students The Oklahoma Green Schools Program is not only there for the students. It is for the school as a whole. It is to empower both the students and the teachers in a way that they can make a difference. The five investigations for Project Learning Tree The Green Schools Program has five areas of investigation for schools in partnership with Project Learning Tree. They are: Energy Environmental quality School site Waste and recycling Water Changing the lights can make a difference It is interesting to discover how much energy gets saved by changing from using light bulbs to using LED lights. Lights out lunches After doing energy investigations, schools come up with all kinds of innovative ways to save energy. A novel idea was to have Lights Out Lunches once a week where only natural light was allowed in the cafeteria. Form a Green Team and involve school staff stakeholders When creating a Green Team, it is a good idea to get the maintenance workers and the administrators of the school building involved from the outset so that they will be willing to work along with the team to help make a difference. Trash Audit The Oklahoma Green Schools Program encourages the schools to do a trash audit, to sort the recyclable items from the waste, and to get to know exactly how much food is being wasted and thrown away.  There are many resources available for activities at home The Oklahoma Green Schools Program was designed for use in almost any kind of educational scenario so that everyone can participate. Pep Talks for Side Hustlers

Okay I’m so excited about this interview today because had I not crossed paths with these two women back when I started my business I probably would have quit. It was 2015, I had just transitioned from charging barely nothing for web design services to making the Free 5 Day Website Challenge. I was still working full-time, and I still had a really negative mindset about my day job, like I was a victim to it and I didn’t understand that I could choose my thoughts and choose ones that didn’t drain my energy and choose ones that supported my goals. I was “unenlightened” so to speak. The Free 5 Day Website Challenge had started to take off, and people were joining the Facebook Group I’d made for them to get their questions answered. And my notifications were BLOWING UP. And my email inbox was BLOWING UP. And I still had this “employee, people pleaser” mindset, like, “They emailed me, I have to respond. They asked a question in the Facebook Group, I have to respond. I can’t make people wait, if they have to wait they’ll get mad and tell other people my training sucks.” I was going it entirely alone, I had no support system, I only knew how to be an employee that jumped when someone said jump and not an entrepreneur that actually gets to decide how things run - and needless to say, I was totally burnt out. And then, I came across One Woman Shop, a blog and resource started by Sara Frandina and Cristina Roman (and now owned by Crissy + Danielle), and it put me on this path to learning how to collaborate and set boundaries and manage my time and not try to do it all on my own. So over the next few years Sara + Cristina ran One Woman Shop and I did my thing and our paths would cross from time to time in ways that they probably didn’t realize were life-changing for me because they were just doing what was natural to them - creating community and connection and a place for solopreneurs to get support. So I get an email one day late last year that One Woman Shop was for sale, and I just had SO MANY questions about how they came to the decision to sell vs. just closing the doors, the logistics of pricing and selling a business, all the things. So I invited Sara + Cristina on the show to break it all down for you and what’s next for them. And I’m also working on having the new owners, Crissy + Danielle, on the show sometime to talk about the story of buying and taking over One Woman Shop. Today we’re talking about: How + why Sara and Cristina started One Woman Shop. Why collaboration is the best marketing strategy you can have. Tips for getting over the fear of rejection and humiliation. Why you need to take action to get a result, even if the result isn’t what you expected. Advice if you are thinking about creating a membership site. When Sara and Cristina decided it was time to step away form the business. The logistics behind pricing + selling the business. The process for finding a buyer for the business. What Sara and Cristina are doing now. Their best advice for you if you’re struggling to grow your side hustle. The beliefs they had to change about themselves to get where they are today. My favorite quotes: “People that we surround ourselves with really make a huge difference in our journey” “You just have to choose what works for you and really double-down on it.” “A lot of what we were selling is the potential for what could be built based off the foundation that we created.” Resources mentioned in this episode: One Woman Shop Kolbe Index Ep. 256: How to Sell Your Blog for Six Figures with Carrie Smith Nicholson piquecoaching.co sarafrandina.com Bio: Sara Frandina is a conversion copywriter with a serious addiction to learning, coffee, and popcorn. Daily Success Strategies - Jeff Heggie Entrepreneur & Coach

www.JeffHeggie.com Summit Info and Registration https://jeffheggie.com/2020/05/30/turn-your-fear-into-fuel-summit/ Jeff Heggie Daily Success Strategies Episode 036 If you don't know who Sara Blakely is, you have probably heard about her story. Starting with $5,000 of her own savings she has become the first self-made woman billionaire that didn't get any of her wealth from a spouse or inheritance. As the story goes, she cut the bottoms out of her pantyhose, created Spanx and became a billionaire. But there's always more to the story. When Sara grew up she wanted to be a lawyer, like her father. But after failing the LSAT miserably, twice, she knew that law was not in her future. As she tells the story, she took the next logical step. She travelled to Disney World to try out to be Goofy! But to be Goofy, you need to be 5'8” and she's only 5'6”, which was the perfect size for a Chipmunk. After three months as a Chipmunk, she took a new job selling fax machines door to door. This became her life for the next seven years in Clearwater, Florida. Anyone who has had to do any cold-calling knows how difficult it is, but she stuck with it for a long time. One day, she was so upset with her life, she pulled over to the side of the road and said to herself, “I'm in the wrong movie! Call the director. Cut! This is not my life.” That night she made a list of her strengths and weaknesses in her journal. She asked herself what she was good at and and how that could help her to create a better life. She identified sales as one of her biggest strengths and committed to herself that night, “I'm going to invent something that I can sell to millions of people that will make them feel good.” She didn't have any idea what it was at the time, but she continued to ask herself, “What can I invent and sell?” She said out-loud, “Universe, give me the idea and I won't squander it.” Two years later she was still selling fax machines and asking herself, “What can I invent and sell?" One evening as she was getting ready for a party, she cut the feet out of her control top pantyhose to go to a party. That night when she got home she thought, “This might be my idea!” Sara asked persistently with the expectation of receiving an answer. So when the opportunity presented itself, she saw it. She said, “Because I had asked myself the question and set my intention two years prior, that's the reason I am where I am rather than the millions of other women who had been cutting the feet out of their pantyhose to solve the same undergarment issue.” She had been spending two years questioning, manifesting, visualizing and setting intentions. There are many things we can learn from Sara's story. But what I want to discuss is summed up well in The Power of Positive Thinking by Norman Vincent Peale when he says, “To change your circumstances, first start thinking differently.” It didn't happen immediately, but when Sara started to ask herself specific questions, with the expectation of receiving her answers, she started things in motion that changed her life. Ralph Waldo Emerson said, “A man is what he thinks about all day long.” I share this story because I think Sara is amazing. But I also share it because this is one of the stories I'll be sharing in my presentation at the June 6-7 virtual summit, Turn Your Fear Into Fuel. Sara Canaday is the author of You — According to Them, and Leadership Unchained: Defy Conventional Wisdom for Breakthrough Performance. Sara shares how leaders can better adapt to the changing landscape, because conventional or traditional success strategies can now limit our recovery and growth. Sara contends we need to shift from being a doer to being a driver.   Key Takeaways [3:00] Conventional or traditional success strategies that we’ve learned can now limit our future success as the landscape today is so different. [6:15] When Sara says take a strategic pause, she doesn’t mean to take a mental time out. She means to really absorb all the knowledge you’ve learned lately and see what stands out. [8:45] The idea of doing nothing scares a lot of people, even when they consciously know it could benefit them greatly. [16:30] In Sara’s book, You — According to Them, the biggest thing that leaders took away from that book was shifting the focus from being a doer to a driver.[24:35] It’s up to all of us to find our own purpose in the bigger scheme of things. A company tells you what your function is - not necessarily purpose. [31:35] As a young woman, Sara learned that if she wanted to be taken seriously, she had to be serious, and that thinking backfired on her. [33:40] There is a balance between standing out and fitting in. Be a renegade in your ideas, but not in your behavior.  [37:15] People like listening to the loudest person in the room because it feels like action-taking, but those people can create massive casualties in an organization. The only way to prevent this is to really slow down and think things through, but that’s not deemed ‘efficient.’ [39:55] You have a lot of control over who gets your time and attention more than you realize, even if you feel like you don’t have the ‘authority’ or a high-demanding boss in front of you. [43:10] In order to get people engaged, we have to show them that we’re just as engaged in what they want for themselves. [47:00] Leaders need to be willing to shake up the way they think.   Quotable Quotes “Take a strategic pause, make unbreakable appointments with yourself to sit, and let everything you’ve read/seen/heard in a week or a day marinate so you can see connections you may not have seen.” “How many of us were rewarded for being doers? We’ve been conditioned, so it takes a real mind shift to sit still.” “You can have all the smarts in the world, but that alone is not going to get you where you need to be.” “The experiences we give ourselves are important.” “If you enter the game of business, you enter the game to play. So play to win!”   Resources Mentioned Saracanaday.com Leadership Unchained: Defy Conventional Wisdom for Breakthrough Performance, by Sara Canaday You — According to Them: Uncovering the blind spots that impact your reputation and your career, by Sara Canaday What Got You Here Won't Get You There: How Successful People Become Even More Successful, by Marshall Goldsmith   The Leadership Podcast is Sponsored by:     Cultivate Grit. Sometimes the lessons are simply reminders of who and whose you are.  When Sara facilitates Dare to Lead training, she refers to this as the reckoning, rumble, and revolution. It takes courage to look in the mirror at the cold, hard facts and answer the questions that invite you to find the meaning from the mess.  The four questions we talk about help you reflect on the emotion, the internal dialogue, the truth, as well as your desire for a brave new ending. Sara had an Ah-HA moment when she read the book, The Omnivore’s Dilemma, which inspired her to get involved in the local food movement. After all she grew up on her Mom’s natural, freshly cooked and delicious soup, she got the idea to come back to her hometown in Washington DC. In 2008 she started Soupergirl with her mother to bring locally inspired, nutritious, and delicious soup to the hungry citizens of Washington, DC, and beyond. This mom-daughter duo can tell you, in clear conscience, that their soups are very healthy. They believe if you can’t pronounce something on the ingredient list, it should not be in the soup. Their soups are all plant-based and kosher filled with fresh, local veggies, grains, beans, and other wholesome goodness.  The mission at Soupergirl isn’t just about soup - it’s about our food system. Soupergirl believes in real, responsible food and supports their local farming community. So that the planet, consumer, community, farmers, and laborers all win. As they grow, they believe they can inspire even bigger changes. One spoonful at a time. Recently, they were featured on ABC’s Shark Tank. What was the first soup that you made? Sara started the business with her mother back in 2008. She does not remember the first soup she made. She started her business by hosting gatherings on weekly basis and her mother would cook all the test recipes she had prepared. Sara would then share samples with all the guests, gather their opinions about different soups and that is how she was able to build the basis of her brand. She developed a database of 100 different soups. She launched her business in November 2008. Why did you choose soup to start your business? According to Sara, soup is the perfect food with high nutrition. It contains less fat and if it is prepared properly, it can have all the necessary proteins, fibers and nutrients in it. Sara wanted to get involved in the local food movement by being able to cook differently. She wanted to make an impact and she felt soup was a great way to incorporate healthy food in the lives of people around her. How did you transition from being a comedian to being in the food business? When Sara was doing comedy, she was working for different companies. She was not really passionate about her work and it was slowly starting to get to her. She has always had a very short attention span. Her breakthrough moment came when she was on a flight and read Michael Pollan’s book ‘The Omnivore’s Dilemma’. She had never understood the importance of local food movement before. After reading the book, she felt a need to get involved in the local food movement. She was considering a few different options around that time. She wanted to start her own business and her ideas revolved around incorporating comedy and health together. How did you start the business? Sara initially had a partner who backed out in the early stages of her business. After that, she got her mother involved in the business who was willing to help her. Though her mother had no idea what she was getting into. Were you ever skeptical or in doubt about succeeding in your business? Sara thinks when you are a small business owner, there is a constant struggle against self-doubts. Sometimes, in the morning she has this energy and feels like she is going to conquer the world today and then later in the day she feels tired or demotivated due to various reasons. The food industry is very hard, there is a lot of competition. How do you maintain your mindset and focus? Sara believes in herself and in her business. She believes her business is meant to grow because she is staying true to her passion towards food. She also performs meditation that helps her control her stress. Why do you think the food system is broken? People are far removed from where their food comes from. We usually go to the supermarket and everything is neatly packaged in there. We are not connected with how that food item gets to our shopping cart or to the supermarket shelf. We need to be connected with how the food we buy from the supermarket is prepared, who prepared it, how it was farmed. With her business, she is trying to create awareness among people to be more involved with their food and its story. What do you think has had the biggest impact on your growth? Sara thinks her customers have had the biggest impact on the growth. They have promoted the business as well by spreading the word about the business. Sara has a community of fans which many brands do not have. Sara considers herself to be lucky to have such fans. How did you come up with this name for your brand? Sara brainstormed with her family and friends for the name. She had a vision of the illustration. She knew people will be able to relate with the name and that it adds flavor, it adds humor and relates to what she was trying to do. Did you ever have a business plan? Sara initially had a business plan but she was never able to finish it. It has gone through several iterations over the years. Sara believes business plan needs to be a living documentation, it needs to change with time. How has your business changed ever since you aired on Shark Tank? Sara has decided to ship her products nationwide. Every person in the country can now get her food. She was able to set up meetings with major grocery chains and was able to put her products in their stores. What is your favorite soup? It really depends on Sara’s mood and time of day. She usually prefers her ginger butternut soup. In summers, she prefers the chilled watermelon gazpacho. Sara also says there is nothing like a lentil soup with simple vegetables. What is the best advice you have ever been given? The best advice she has ever been given is to never stop believing. Someone said to her that her biggest challenge was going to be staff. She believes anticipating your company's needs, hiring people and planning accordingly is very important for company’s prosperity. You have to be proactive and think three steps ahead. What are you proud of? Sara is not where she wants to be, it keeps her hungry and it keeps her motivated. She says she is not proud of anything as yet. How can we connect with you? thesoupergirl.com

Repurpose Your Career | Career Pivot | Careers for the 2nd Half of Life | Career Change | Baby Boomer

In Part 4 of this series, Marc covers the third feedback session with Sara for her personality assessment.   Key Takeaways: [1:12] Marc welcomes you to Episode 98 of the Repurpose Your Career podcast.[1:24] If you’re enjoying this podcast, Marc invites you to share this podcast with like-minded souls. Please subscribe on CareerPivot.com, iTunes, Google Play and the Google Podcasts app, Podbean, Overcast, TuneIn, Spotify, or Stitcher. Share it on social media, or tell your neighbors and colleagues so Marc can help more people. [1:45] Marc thanks everyone who has rated or reviewed the show on iTunes. Repurpose Your Career has 25 ratings and 17 customer reviews. Marc would be most appreciative if you chose to write a review.[2:02] We are rapidly approaching Episode 100 of Repurpose Your Career. Marc is thinking of interviewing his wife, Lotus Miller, about her experiences around their move to Mexico! Mrs. Miller is a former Registered Nurse and massage therapist. [2:26] Next week, Marc will have a special episode — the audio from the webinar that Jeanne Yocum presented to the Career Pivot membership community, called “Pricing Your Services — How to Get it Right.” Setting the right prices is difficult for freelancers and consultants. Jeanne was on Episode 89 of the podcast talking about her book. [3:03] Last week in Episode 97, Marc covered Part 3 of the “Can Sara Repurpose Her Career?” series. This week, Marc will play Part 4 of the series. If you have not listened to Episodes 93, 94 and 97, Marc suggests you stop here and go listen to all episodes, first. You will find the reports for these episodes at Careerpivot.com/sara. [3:48] Marc welcomes Sara back to the podcast. Sara has done her homework. She tells how she makes decisions using her intellect and her intuition. She has her head and her heart involved. [4:50] Marc looks at the homework. Sara was once told by a manager that she is a results-oriented decision maker. She wondered how an employee could not be results-oriented. She has learned that not everyone sees things the same way. [5:56] When Sara has a problem to solve, she asks as many questions as she needs to get all the facts and then she takes the ball and runs with it to get those results. She likes being able to point to the results of her problem-solving. [6:36] Marc reminds Sara that everyone does not think the same and he hopes that she will take time to explain to others how she thinks and decides, so there are no misunderstandings. Marc talks about teaching in mainland China and how differently the Chinese think. [7:49] Sara looks at her Stress Report. There are three sections. They are Interpersonal Relationships, Schedules and Details, and Decision Making. Each section has two pages. The first covers what happens when you go into stress. The second covers what you can do to get out of stress. Sara will explore the second pages on her own. [8:24] Activities to stay out of stress include things you are already doing, things you used to do but stopped doing, and eight choices of things you should try. [9:16] Sara looks at Self-consciousness and Social Energy in dealing one-on-one and dealing in groups. Sara’s social needs are low, meaning she doesn’t want to be around people all day; her self-consciousness is also low, meaning she wants people to deal with her very directly. That is an unusual combination. [9:59] Sara reads her results. It is likely that Sara needs straightforward instruction, praise that is free of sentiment, associates who speak up easily, people who get to the point, direct questions or corrections, freedom from group pressures, special time to be alone, time to be quiet and think, individualized benefits, and a few one-on-one friends. [10:31] Sara says that what resonates with her are straightforward instructions, praise that is free of sentiment, associates who speak up easily, and the rest, except that she is not sure what is meant by individualized benefits. [10:53] Marc explains individualized benefits as meaning, ‘You want to get stroked the way that you want to get stroked.’ [10:58] Sara reflects on what makes her feel valued (from the Career Reflection worksheet). She feels valued when she fills a need. She likes to be needed, personally and professionally. She likes to be depended on. It feels great when someone thanks her for a significant accomplishment, not just for the day-to-day minutia. [12:01] Marc summarizes that Sara wants a level of importance and she wants people to recognize her importance. Sara agrees. She doesn’t want to be relied on for the smaller tasks. [12:46] Marc wants Sara to have ingrained within her the knowledge of what makes her feel valued at work, and to be able to communicate that to others. Marc always loved getting recognition from his clients. Developing software that he never saw anyone use was meaningless to him and didn’t give him ‘strokes.’ [13:46] In Sara’s three pages of needs, there are 30 needs. There will be overlap. Marc will ask Sara to synthesize her 30 needs down to 10 needs and to write an open-ended question for each and what she is listening for. [14:11] Marc cites Jim Camp’s Start with NO, a negotiation book. The art and science of questioning is to get the other side to ‘spill the beans.’ Marc asks Sara to do the same thing, based on her own needs. [14:34] Sara’s things she can do to build resistance: Identify a person or group that interacts with her in an objective manner and spend more time with that person or group. Build a hit list of things she knows have gone well and use it to help gauge her success. [15:00] Sara can find opportunities to assess real signs of success and identify areas that she needs to improve upon. Build a relationship with a coach who, without being shy about it, can help her evaluate how well she has done in a situation. Set aside quiet time for herself every day. She needs solitude to recharge [15:22] Sara can take active steps to protect herself from interruptions when she is working on an important or stressful task. Allocate at least one weekend a month just to be alone with that one person who is most important to her. The more difficult this is to do, the more important it is. [15:39] Sara can prepare herself for big holidays or hectic social periods by spending more time being quiet and alone. [15:47] Sara is already setting aside quiet time for herself every day to recharge and taking active steps to protect herself from interruptions during important or stressful tasks. She has also learned to manage the interruptions. She prepares herself for holidays by spending more time by herself. Marc also avoids holiday parties. [16:56] Sara knows when it’s time to find her happy place in a corner of a room away from other people. Marc talks about the difficulty introverts have in being social. [17:42] On page 5, Sara reads about managing her needs for insistence and restlessness. Sara is low insistence, which means she does not like rules imposed on her. Sara’s restlessness rating shows she does not like to be interrupted. [18:15] Sara may need freedom from close controls, a minimum of structured routine, direct access to everyone, unusual and stimulating tasks, flexible rules and policies, a minimum of abrupt changes in routine, consistently applied policies or rules, only one or two tasks at a time, protection from interruptions, and predictable schedules and tasks. [18:45] Sara disagrees with the minimum of structured routine. She seeks it out and makes it for herself. Marc reminds her that she is a structured anarchist. She would very much prefer the structure to be her own. Sara agrees. She does not want others to impose it. Direct access means she does not do well with a bunch of gatekeepers. [19:51] Unusual and stimulating tasks and flexible rules and policies, and consistently applied policies or rules also resonate with Sara. Sara likes consistency, in general. [20:17] Marc also considers it to be a need for fairness and Sara agrees. Regarding working on one or two tasks at a time, Sara is not a believer in multi-tasking. Marc also has a low restlessness score and he does his best work when he is not interrupted. [20:56] Marc keeps his phone away from himself when he needs to concentrate. He turns the automatic download in Outlook off. People with low restlessness scores tend to have ‘bright, shiny object syndrome’ and their productivity goes way down. [21:27] It can be very stress-reducing for Sara to protect herself from interruptions, and she can boost her productivity be avoiding interruptions. Sara also is happiest when her tasks are not tightly controlled by others. She would much rather be asked than told to do a task. [22:34] Sara reads some things she can do to stay out of stress. Sara can set aside time each week to follow some new interest or satisfy new curiosity, indulge her sense of adventure whenever possible, and use vacations or hobbies to try new activities. [22:54] Sara can create frequent opportunities to discuss future goals, plans and activities with her family and/or coworkers; make schedules that allow her flexibility in executing tasks and plans; and develop work schedules that allow her to spend significant periods of time on one project, without interruption. [23:14] Sara can use time management skills, gatekeepers, and any other means to protect herself from distractions and obstructions from working on tedious tasks and arrange major work schedules in such a manner that she can fit in a few interruptions without getting behind. [23:37] Sara can establish routines for the beginning or end of the day to provide background structure when life gets busy. [23:50] Sara is already doing the last activity. She has established alone thinking time for every morning getting ready for the day and in the evening getting ready for bed. She follows them even if she goes traveling. Marc wants Sara to be very aware of keeping those patterns as habits. [25:35] Sara has not yet regularly set aside weekly time to follow new interests or satisfy curiosity but she has tried it from time to time. She indulges her sense of adventure whenever possible and tries new activities on vacations or as hobbies. She sees that finding the time to do more of that would bring her greater satisfaction. [26:15] Marc reminds Sara to take time out during the day to do something creative. So far, she is not taking enough time to do that. She is very task-oriented which keeps her from taking breaks. That frustrates her. Having a creative streak and being so orderly is an unusual combination. [27:02] Sara looks at managing needs for physical energy and thought. Sara is rated moderately on physical energy — she’s not inactive and not extremely active. Sara is rated moderately low on thought. Sara reads her 10 likely needs. [27:26] Sara may need a minimum of prolonged activity, stimulation of new ideas, friendly low-key surroundings, time for reflective thought, unhurried work conditions, quick decisions from others, forceful and definite bosses or peers, and a minimum of ambiguity in situations. [27:59] Sara may also need thoughtful suggestions from others and opportunities to take action quickly. [28:03] Being moderately low in thought means Sara likes to make big decisions in a fairly matter-of-fact basis but if there is no right answer, or there is a lot of ambiguity, it is likely to cause Sara stress. Marc relates a client example. [30:24] Sara lists the needs that resonate with her: stimulation of new ideas, friendly, low-key surroundings, time for reflective thought, unhurried work conditions, quick decisions from others, thoughtful suggestions from others, and opportunities to take actions quickly. [30:50] The ‘thoughtful suggestions from others’ need is in the same vein as the preference to be asked and not told. Fairness plays into this. The cohesiveness of the team is really important. [31:25] To avoid stress, Sara can plan schedules and projects so she can stop and think about where she has been and where she is going, give more time to abstract or philosophical thought and activities, and avoid taking on too many projects or social obligations when things are getting hectic at work. [31:50] Sara can develop a relaxing, low-key hobby or recreation and make use of the curative powers of this activity often, and build family plans and goals, carefully using a thorough planning procedure so that she looks at all the factors and options for important decisions. [32:11] Sara can develop contacts with aggressive but careful thinkers who can help her think things through carefully without holding her back unnecessarily, work out rules with those close to her that allow her to move quickly on little issues but help her to be cautious on important ones. [32:33] Sara can remind family and co-workers that she needs fast-paced action when decisions are required and ask them to push options aggressively while helping her avoid black-and-white thinking. [32:46] Sara tells which activities resonate with her: getting fast-paced action when decisions are required and help to avoid black-and-white thinking is important to Sara. Marc encourages Sara to develop a relaxing, low-key hobby or recreation and make use of the curative powers of this activity. [33:22] Marc asks Sara to use her creative streak to figure out the activity and to give herself permission to take the time to go off and do it, understanding that she will be a better person for it. Sara just finished an assignment of making a personal video that related to work, to be used at work. She was very excited to have that creative outlet. [34:57] Marc asks Sara to give herself permission to sit with that feeling — the combination of knowing her project was wanted and being able to be creative with it. Marc asks her to bookmark it mentally so that when something else comes up, she can bring this feeling back. Sometimes she may need to go ask for similar projects. [36:25] Sara compares her work role to being typecast as an actress. Marc explains as we hit our 50s and 60s, staying in our role becomes exhausting to us. The stamina of our 30s and 40s is no longer there. [37:17] Marc gives Sara homework. Synthesize the 30 needs down into about 10. Then write an open-ended question about each need, and know what to listen for  when she asks these questions — if the answer feels right to her, or if she should run away as fast as she can go. She needs to know her red flags and pay attention to them in interviews. [38:08] Sara also needs to take her assignment of usual behavior, strength phrases that she translated into her own words and turn them into a narrative. This will be her story to share about herself. The key piece is to write it the way she talks, not the way she writes. Marc suggests saying it into her phone then transcribing it. [38:47] Sara’s third assignment for this session will be to talk to three people at work she knows and trusts and three people from her personal life and ask them each for three to five phrases that describe her. [39:10] We behave a certain way at work and another way in our personal life. Marc wants Sara to note the words both sets of three people use, and look for overlap. [39:37] Marc will do one feedback session more with Sara that will not be recorded for the podcast, so this podcast series is completed. [39:49] Sara says she has learned from the experience so far that she is a lot more comfortable with what she is seeking. She has been aware of a lot of what was discussed for a while but she is now more comfortable in articulating it and leveraging it for a future job search. [40:28] Sara synopsizes what she learned about herself, that now she feels like she has the understanding to rebuild her LinkedIn profile and the words and phrases to tell her interesting story in a professional setting. Repurpose Your Career | Career Pivot | Careers for the 2nd Half of Life | Career Change | Baby Boomer

In Part 2 of this series, Marc covers the second half of the first feedback session with Sara for her personality assessment.   Key Takeaways: [1:24] Marc welcomes you to Episode 94 of the Repurpose Your Career podcast.[1:36] If you’re enjoying this podcast, Marc invites you to share this podcast with like-minded souls. Please subscribe on CareerPivot.com, iTunes, Google Play, Podbean, Overcast, TuneIn, Spotify, or Stitcher. Share it on social media, or tell your neighbors and colleagues so Marc can help more people. [2:02] Last week, Marc presented Part 1 of the career pivot evaluation series “Can Sara Repurpose Her Career?” Sara (not her real name) is employed, a closet creative, and a structured anarchist. Sara likes rules, as long as they’re hers. [2:29] This week, Marc will play Part 2, the second half of Sara’s first feedback session. If you have not listened to Episode 93, Marc suggests you stop here and go listen to Episode 93, first. You will find all of the reports for this episode at Careerpivot.com/sara [3:11] Next week Marc will work with his good friend Mark Anthony Dyson on a Q&A session to answer your LinkedIn questions. [3:23] Sara turns to the organizational portion of the assessment. First is insistence — Sara’s approach to detail, structure, follow-through, and routine. Sara’s usual behaviors are a definite preference to work from a plan, attend to detail, anticipate difficulties and plan for contingencies — systematic, procedural, and concerned with detail. [4:07] Sara agrees that she is very much a process person. [4:26] Sara’s strengths are maximized to the extent that her plan is of her own making. Although she will put systems and procedures in place, she needs occasional opportunities to bend her own rules. Sara is comfortable with bringing order to chaos. [4:59] Sara can fix a situation and bring order to it. After she has done so, she has been asked to stay and run the system. Her real objective is to go into chaos and fix it, not to maintain the process after it’s fixed. Sara is at her best when she walks into chaos. [5:58] Sara describes how she would react to a process that is highly regulated. She would work the process and document very carefully her suggestions for improvements. She is not comfortable with strict prescriptiveness in processes. [7:50] The rules need to be Sara’s rules or at least have flexibility. Sara agrees that is key. [8:11] Marc will assign homework to Sara to reread the organizational pages about four or five of her behaviors and then think about a time where she got angry. Her orderliness is misinterpreted from time to time by others who don’t realize Sara is at her best in chaos. [8:52] Sara reads her causes of stress. Since she tries to put first things first, she logically emphasizes systems and control. External interference in her plan can frustrate and distract her. She may overreact to pressures that threaten her personal freedom. Sara likes doing things her way and she is good at it. [9:27] Sara’s stress reactions: overgeneralizing, neglect of order and systems, weakened follow-through. When Sara can’t get her way, at some point she loses interest and just goes through the motions. [10:02] Sara turns to the assertiveness section. This is her tendency to speak up and express opinions hopefully and forcefully. Sara deals with people best on the basis of discussion and suggestion. When giving directions to others, Sara has the asset of asking rather than telling. Sara comes across as pleasant and easygoing. [10:34] Sara’s usual behaviors: pleasant, agreeable, self-directive. This goes with Sara’s incentives score. Sara is a good team player. [10:47] Sara’s needs: for highest productivity, Sara needs a peaceful environment. She responds best to people who involve her in the decision-making process, rather than ordering her to follow other people’s instructions. Sara doesn’t want a boss. She wants a team around her. She wants to be asked to do things. Sara is an asker, not a teller. [12:16] Sara avoids interacting with dictators. [13:20] Sara’s causes of stress: direct confrontations are likely to make Sara uncomfortable, especially when they become personal or emotional. Sara may feel intimidated by highly authoritarian people.[13:32] Sara’s stress reactions: resistance to others’ directions, difficulty speaking up, avoidance of open disagreement. Sara does not relate to being easily intimidated but she sees some of these stress behaviors in herself. [14:20] Sara’s team is incredibly important to her. Marc recommends to Sara that when moving somewhere she should do research on the working environment and what the team looks like. [14:46] Sara turns to the last part of the organizational section, restlessness — how Sara prefers to focus attention or change focus and seek varied activities. [15:05] Sara is able to resist distractions and concentrate on the subject at hand with greater than average intensity. Sara can also “compartmentalize’ when there is a need to give attention to different activities in close succession. [15:24] Sara’s usual behaviors: concentrative, thorough, and purposeful. Sara knows how to focus. Sara is the polar opposite of most creatives Marc deals with. They want to do something new every 15 minutes. That drives Sara crazy but she works with people like that. [16:05] Sara’s needs: It is preferable that Sara be given advance warning of any change that significantly affects her life or work, and that she be provided the opportunity to express her input and ideas concerning such change. Don’t mess with Sara’s schedule or interrupt her. Sara has to watch rigidity in her scheduling to be approachable. [17:29] Marc, like Sara, has to find ways to minimize his distractions so he can stay focused. He gives the example of a person answering email and doing simple tasks in an open office and finding a conference room to do tasks which require concentration. [19:01] Sara’s causes of stress: frequent interruptions can be a burden to Sara’s thoroughness. Changes which are imposed on her, with little or none of her input, may create resistance within her. It’s very important for Sara to stay informed. Marc recalls his last boss, who shared no information. [20:13] Sara’s stress reactions: resisting change, over-concentration, and reduced perspective. Sara reflects on how these describe her. She likes Marc’s suggestion from the previous episode to take work breaks and read something for personal enjoyment. If she doesn’t break away periodically, from her focus, her quality of work suffers. [21:26] Marc reminds Sara that the things that really interest her are not the things she does at work. She needs to fit them into small breaks in her day. A lifetime of doing work that doesn’t bring you joy is exhausting. [23:35] Sara turns to the physical energy section. Sara’s high energy level affords her the considerable assets of vigorous and persuasive reasoning and a generally forceful and enthusiastic approach to everything she does. Sara finds it easy to be physically active on a regular basis. [24:07] Sara’s usual behavior: enthusiastic, energetic, and forceful. Sara goes and goes. [24:18] Sara’s needs: Sara prefers to be in control regarding the spending of her energies. It is best when her environment neither places the demands of a heavy schedule upon her nor emphasizes thought and reflection to the exclusion of personal action. Sara’s behavior rating is 76 against the median rating of 75, so she is normal. [24:46] Sara’s need is a little bit below usual, which indicates she wants a little bit more control over how hard she physically works and control over her schedule, more than people probably understand about her. [25:08] Sara’s causes of stress: external demands on her energies, either physical or mental, are likely to be frustrating to her. When she is denied the opportunity to balance planning with action, her naturally high energy level may result in unexpected fatigue. [25:26] Sara’s stress reactions: edginess and feeling fatigued. Sara definitely feels this way at home. She wants to do things around the home on her own terms. Marc reviews some of Sara’s characteristics with her. She is really good at fixing things and creating processes when she can set her own terms. She is a cooperative team player. [26:48] Sara turns to the thought section — Sara’s decision making process and concern for consequences in making the right decision. This regards big decisions. Marc finds Sara’s scores to be really unusual for a creative person. Marc sees it as one of Sara’s superpowers. [27:14] Sara is generally decisive, able to quickly formulate her answers and make decisions without undue delay. Her ability to grasp relevant issues and form quick judgments allows her to be direct and to the point. Sara’s usual behavior: matter-of-fact,  decisive, and direct. [27:40] Marc points out what is unusual in this description for a creative person. Usually, creatives see every shade of gray and can’t make a big decision. [27:52] Sara’s needs: Sara feels that she doesn't need to be given a lot of time to make decisions, especially those that are usual and routine. However, the time she needs to make a decision will increase as the issues become complicated or unusual. Sara likes to see things in black and white. It didn’t take Sara long to buy a new car. [28:50] Marc tells of a couple with ‘needs’ scores of 1 and 99. The wife wanted to buy a cell phone in one afternoon. Her husband wanted three weeks to compare plans and phones. Sara is closer to the wife’s score. [29:34] Sara’s causes of stress: since Sara likes to make decisions rapidly and dispassionately, ambiguity can frustrate her at times. She may be inclined to be impetuous, overlooking points of detail. Marc tells about a past client who, like Sara, was really good at getting people together in a room and coming up with a decision. [30:35] Marc calls that a superpower. He wants Sara to think about how that applies to her. Organization, creativity, and being a good decision-maker tie together into making good quick decisions. Sara likes to think things through early, and likes to research before making a decision but does not get into analysis paralysis. [32:12] Sara’s stress reactions: over-definite thinking, becoming impulsive, snap decisions. In other words, when stressed, Sara spends less time and effort thinking through the decision. [33:02] Marc will pick out four or five behaviors, and ask Sara to think about times when she got angry, and see if she can find the triggers based on her behaviors, needs, and causes of stress. Sara should think about the worst times in her career. [33:32] Marc also wants Sara to look at her 27 usual behaviors in the report and pick out 8-15 of them she fully identifies with. Her next assignment will be to turn those into ‘Sara talk,’ and the assignment after that will be to turn that into a speaking narrative. This will be her authentic language to use when someone asks her to tell them about herself. [35:14] Marc invites you to think about your own odd combinations of behaviors which are your superpowers, and why they are superpowers. [36:42] Check back next week, when Marc will be working with his good friend, Mark Anthony Dyson and they will be answering your LinkedIn questions.   Mentioned in This Episode: Careerpivot.com CareerPivot.com/Episode-93 Sara’s Reports Marc Miller on LinkedIn Birkman Assessments StrengthsFinder (now Gallup CliftonStrengths)   Please pick up a copy of Repurpose Your Career: A Practical Guide for the 2nd Half of Life, by Marc Miller and Susan Lahey. You spoke—we listened. Sara Cunningham was your nominee from the tribe for the last episode of our “Women Who Built It,” series and we couldn’t be more thrilled to hear about what she is building.  When Sara’s son came to her with the decision that he was going to live as a gay man on his 21st birthday, Sara’s life went into a tailspin. After 20 years in the church and actively “praying the gay away,” with and on behalf of her son, she was at a crossroads. Her search for resources as a Christian mom turned up very little, but her research on the data and statistics out of the LGBTQ community devastated her. The rejection she saw from families, churches, and communities was more than she could bear. She needed to begin the work of accepting her son, and she started by getting involved with Free Mom Hugs. Showing up at a Pride Rally with a homemade “Free Mom Hugs,” button, she simply gave out hugs—some to young people whose own mothers hadn’t hugged them in years. Whatever your beliefs, you will want to hear Sara’s moving journey and her mission of spreading healing—not only to a community who often feels marginalized—but to their families in the church who are looking for answers.

We are back with a special episode discussing all the theories for the first half of season 3! There is a TON to theorize about and we brought a few guests over from the DC Action Hour for a fresh take on where season 3 might be going.   Synopsis Where are we going with the Mallus storyline? The Legends keep running into ancestors and younger versions of themselves, what could this mean? Is Constantine here just to help fight Mallus with his magic knowledge? We lost a couple characters this season, such as Stein and Jax. Who might replace them? Who do you think would be a good fit and why? We will only have Snart for a little while longer. How are they going to write him off the show? Where do you think the Time Bureau HQ is located?  When Sara followed Darhk in the midseason finale by grabbing him as they vanished with the time stone, she ends up in a “zone” of some kind with Mallus. Where was that? How does Agent Sharpe reach in and pull her out? We saw Stein take the liquid that is supposed to stabilize and trick the Firestorm matrix in his body, but we don’t see Jax take it, so how is he stabilized? Or is he going to explode due to being only one-half now?   Links Check out the DC Action Hour Here The Super Geeked Up YouTube Channel Super Geeked Up on Facebook Super Geeked Up on Twitter  Check out GenreTainment and other Marx Pyle projects   Contact Information If you want to join in the discussion, you can submit feedback via email to tomorowslegends@gmail.com. "I was forced to figure out who I was."   To question your worth is a shame. Not the kind of shame you are supposed to feel like a bad person about. But a true tragedy. That's what my dear sister-friend Sara Wong said at the end of this spiritually rich conversation. Sara and I met a couple years ago as mentors in a leadership program (yes, the same one I've referenced in almost every episode so far).  Right when we started coaching together, I knew she had something I wanted -- the confidence of a woman who has learned to own her worth professionally. As we have become closer friends and I've seen her go through career ups and downs, I now know her as a woman how owns her worth in ALL parts of her life. She has been incredibly successful in her career in media and marketing, but as she explained to me, she sees her value far beyond her income and resume at this point. "We're here for a reason and it's not to compete with each other," she said. One of my favorite weddings I've ever attended is Sara's (just this fall). The love and worth at that beautiful event was unforgettable. Now Sara is in the middle of a massive career transition and I couldn't be more excited to see her channel all her worth into her new calling - a light worker supporting others on re-connecting to their souls. When Sara speaks, I listen. The audio's not the best but it'll do in broad daylight. The Crow soundtrack is still one of my favorite goto albums. So many good bands, so much good music. I think I bought a CD from every artist on it. Okay, Ghostrider wasn’t Rollin’s best work but see also Machines of Loving Grace[1] and Jesus and the Mary Chain. See also Jack be nimble, Jack fall dead. 1994 was a pretty stellar year. I was two years sober, living with my brother, Scott, in a rinky-dink apartment, drove a three-speed manual black Chevy truck. Also, had my first relationship with girl that didn’t revolve around getting fucked up. I was, brace yourself, growing up. Even went and saw NIN and Marilyn Manson sometime that year. Because that’s what you do when you’re a grownup. 😉 At the time I didn’t realize how good life was, didn’t appreciate the magic under my feet. Head too full of chatter to stop, look around, and say, “this is pretty awesome.” My brother and I recorded over two CDs full of music in those days, a lot in that dinky apartment. One time we played in front of maybe 30 people in this darkly cool venue. You think I’m nervous in public now, oh my god...the horror. And they threw flowers after and I thought for sure we were well on our way to something bigger. And we might have been but he had his cosmic flight plan and I had mine. Chapters end while the book keeps going. I still have the acoustic guitar I played at the time, the one I got from one of our friends for $25. Chris died somewhere along the way but in my memories he’s still part of my tribe from that era. Him and his ponytail. Life was all pretty good. Pretty, pretty good. Pretty good even if Kathy, my girlfriend-turned-wife, did end up falling in love with somebody else and breaking my heart. She had her own flight plan that didn’t involve me. And that’s good because commitment and loyalty can be overrated. If something’s not working we’re better off just to quit. Anyways, all those memories piled up in sleeping bags give me almost more gratitude than I can stand in the here-and-now. Grateful for my tribe today. When Sara and I were in Pizza Mambo earlier this summer I was thinking, "this is what life's about." More than anything I'm just grateful. Even if my lymph nodes[2] are all flared up like a pack of dire wolves. The Gunslinger is on in 8 or so hours and I got frozen veggie meatballs in the freezer. #musicvideos #forlovenotlisa #diariespodcast I was listening to Concentration once and Lauren said to me in what I took to be a condescending voice, “weren’t they on The Crow soundtrack?” and then I said, “Shut up.” ↑ Sara said they’re fine. ↑ Add a comment! Stephen is the CEO of Predictive ROI and the host of the Onward Nation podcast. He is the author of two bestselling books, speaker, trainer, and his digital marketing insights have been featured in SUCCESS, Entrepreneur, The Washington Post, Forbes, Inc. Magazine, and other media. Good Morning Onward Nation…I’m Stephen Woessner…and welcome to this week’s solocast…Episode 450. I am excited to be back here with you — because — when you apply the lessons we cover today — you will change the game for your business. I promise you — what you learn in this episode can be that impactful for you, your business, and your revenue. I decided to record another revenue-focused solocast this week for several important reasons. First…last week’s solocast where we drilled deep into how to monetize a podcast was one of our highest downloaded solocasts – ever! Rock solid awesome and we received some wonderful feedback, Onward Nation – thank you for that. I am so happy you found the strategies and step-by-step process within last week’s monetization the lessons to be helpful. And second…I have been giving a lot of thought recently to my life’s purpose. I know – big topic. But I have been giving deep consider to what kind of problems I really enjoy solving – where do I really love creating impact – and what kind of impact do I find the most rewarding? Just in full transparency, Onward Nation…I have done a lot of soul searching on these questions during the last several months…and have found some very powerful perspective and themes emerging and they really strike a cord with me. For example, I realized that helping small business owners is not only something I enjoy doing and find super rewarding – but – I have been in the trenches…on the front lines helping small business owners grow their companies over the last 23-years. Time flies when you’re having fun. When I took some time to think about some of those experiences – it brings a smile to my face. But aside from the joy and personal satisfaction – I realized that my drive for helping small business owners goes deeper – like all the way to my DNA. I have owned five small businesses, with Predictive ROI being my fifth company, but love of entrepreneurship is something I learned while growing up in my Aunt and Uncle’s restaurants and my mom’s bakery and catering business back in Canton, Ohio. Go Buckeyes! Had to sneak that in there. But it goes even deeper still. It goes back another generation to my grandfather who came to the United States from Istanbul, Turkey as a Greek immigrant who couldn’t speak the language…he had no money…he didn’t have a robust LinkedIn account…or a thriving YouTube channel…he had no social circle. But what he did have was incredible work ethic, he had grit, and he had a truckload of tenacity. And in 1926 – just six years after my grandfather arrived in the U.S…he had saved enough money working on the night shift at a downtown Canton, Ohio restaurant to be able to open his own place, which he called The Ideal. Just two years before the Great Depression. But, my Pop survived — our family survived – and helped his customers survive, too – by giving away more homemade soup than he ever sold. He believed so strongly in taking care of his customers because they would take care of him in return. And they did. So, Onward Nation – the reason I love small business owners as much as I do is because I have tremendous respect for the 28 million owners in this country who are grinding it out, just like my Pop and my family did. Owners who are working their guts out to make ends meet – who are making the sacrifices at their own dinner table so they can make sure they don’t miss payroll for their employees. I understand how hard it is – my family has been there – I have been there – and maybe you are part of the 43 percent of small business owners right now who consider growing revenue to be their top challenge they are facing. And that 43 percent equates to 12 million business owners in this country who are challenged with growing revenue. My word. Something needs to be done about that number, don’t you think, Onward Nation. That’s too many businesses and too many families who are risk. I’m committed to driving this number down – it is a worthy goal and I am just now realizing that is has been my life’s work – but – now that I am hyper focused on the problem – watch out. This is going to be awesome. I have discovered my “Why” – as Simon Sinek would say. So this solocast is the first of a brand new 3-part series that I am dedicating to providing you will critical lessons and the practical and tactical tools you need to change the game for your business. To grow revenue in unique and different ways. To give you a competitive advantage and distinctiveness like no other company in your industry. So for today…I am going to share two lessons that I learned directly from my time with Christopher Lochhead, one of today’s leading authorities on the topic of how companies can become what he calls a “Category King.” Chris was my exceptional guest for Episode 448 of Onward Nation. But before diving into the category design and category kingship – let me first share some context about Chris and why the lessons you learn from him will be a game changer for your business. Chris is co-author of the book, “Play Bigger: How Pirates, Dreamers, and Innovators Create and Dominate Markets.” Chris is also the host of the Legends & Losers podcast. Chris is a retired three time Silicon Valley public company CMO, entrepreneur and category designer. I smiled when I learned that Fast Company Magazine calls Chris a, “Human exclamation point” and The Economist (my favorite magazine) calls him, “off-putting at times”. And because he is also passionate about entrepreneurship — he’s a proud advisor to the non-profit “1Life Fully Lived.” When you listen to 448, you will get Chris’s first-hand perspectives on grit, persistence, and the challenges he had to overcome on his path to success. He is remarkable and it was an honor to learn from him. I also recommend you go to Amazon and pick up a copy of Chris’s book because it is excellent. Plus, come on…any business book that also blends in something about pirates, well…I am totally game for that. Okay, here’s a quick, personal side note…you likely know that Disney World is my favorite place on Earth – and – yes, I actually do have a thing for pirates. Aye. So…if you want a good laugh…go to the show notes for this solocast and you will see what I mean. Yes, that is actually me in the photo. That is all I am going to say right now about pirates. But feel free to hit me up on Facebook or Twitter and let me know how hard you laughed when you saw the photo! Okay, back to today’s lessons. Let’s start off with some additional context about category design and kingship…so I am going to quote Chris and his co-authors when I say… “In a well-honed category-driven strategy, the company designs the category, evangelizes the problem, offers its solution to the problem, and then the category makes the company its king. The greatest power comes from the people proclaiming their own king. A self-determined king that isn’t made by the category is a hollow despot destined to be overthrown at the first sign of weakness.” So Onward Nation – when you focus on becoming the king of your category – or better still – creating a brand new category – you control the economics of your industry, your sales pipeline gets filled with so much opportunity it is difficult to contain, and you enjoy a market leadership position that gives you the power to price yourself how you want to price yourself. Interested? Let’s dig into the first lesson that I learned from Chris. Lesson #1: You control the game when you are the Category King. Onward Nation, we live in an increasingly winner-take-all kind of dynamic in business. For their book, “Play Bigger,” Chris and his co-authors analyzed every tech company founded from 2000 through to 2015 that received venture capital funding. They studied data around what happened to those companies. One of the questions they asked was, “What percentage of market cap goes to the leader in any given market category – or – to say that in another way – the Category King?” They crunched the numbers, Onward Nation, and their findings were staggering. In the tech industry, 76 percent of the market cap, or the total value of all of the companies in a given category, is owned by the Category King. Amazing! But Chris and his co-authors also talked to a lot of other people outside of tech for the book, too, and as you might imagine, they told them that the winner-take-all dynamic they had uncovered in tech was happening everywhere. So Onward Nation – the research Chris and his co-authors did showed with clarity that we as business owners must figure out how we can design and dominate our industry so that we become the Category King, not somebody else. However, what Chris and team also found is that we as entrepreneurs tend to only pull two levers when building a company. We think, “Hey, I’m going to build what I hope is a legendary product or service, and then secondarily, I’m going to build what I hope is a legendary company to deliver that product or service.” And then whatever we face in the world, whether it’s an opportunity or a threat, these are the only two levers we pull. That is our toolbox…that is our arsenal. We essentially pile on more features…make a better product…make it faster…make it cheaper, etc. We think scaling the company will do it. So we hire more sales people, it more geography…we apply a better business model…we sell on the Internet…we open more physical locations…we move our operation to virtual…we go digital. But all of these variables are just components of the same two levers, Onward Nation. The product lever and the company lever. What business owners often do is they make is an unconscious decision to put their new legendary product out in the world, and for the most part have what looks and sounds a lot like a product or features conversation with customers and prospects. And those conversations sort of sound like, “Look at how awesome this new product is! It slices and it dices and it twirls and it spins,” and it does all this stuff. But, when you study what did Steve Jobs did, and what Mark Bennioff, the founder of Salesforce.com did, and what did Henry Ford did, and what did Clarence Birdseye did…as Chris and his team did…you begin to realize is they pulled three levers…not two. Chris and his team uncovered how Jobs and Ford absolutely got legendary product and company down — but the third lever they pulled – was that they didn’t do marketing in any traditional sense that most business owners would consider as marketing. Instead…they sort of understood intuitively that they would need to condition the world or educate the world to think about a problem in a different way…and therefore…the world would demand a solution…that Jobs and Ford would then be happy to provide in the form of their product. But right now – the problem we have in business today is that we have too many solutions without a problem…and the end result is…43 percent of small business owners are facing the same top challenge…how to grow revenue? For example…in 2001 Microsoft launched the Tablet PC. Microsoft was the first big company to launch a tablet computer. But, it didn’t go anywhere because for the most part Microsoft had a features discussion and the world didn’t understand what problem those features solved. But, when Apple launched the iPad, Steve Jobs stood up on stage, at the big Mac Developer Conference and he puts up a slide that on one hand has a picture of the iPhone and the other has a picture of the iMac, and then there’s a hole in the middle. Jobs literally said, “We believe there’s room for a third category of device. Now let me tell you why.” Then he begins to paint a picture with something you could call a point-of-view about how the PC and the phone are actually not great for consuming rich content, and they’re not great communication platforms for the new social, mobile world. That argument opens our minds up to thinking about the possibility of a third device…the iPad. Boom – a category is created and Apple is its King…because the market demands that of them. The Chris shared another example with me. This time, he chose Sara Blakely…the founder of Spanx. Spanx has become an incredibly successful company and product line because Sara made a very important decision. When Sara launched Spanx she did not tell the world that what she was selling was underwear. And, she didn’t call it a “Girdle 2.0”, either. www.inc.com/sara-blakely/how-spanx-founder-turned-5000-dollars-into-a-billion-dollar-undergarment-business.html Instead, she said, “It’s a new kind of under garment called shape wear.” In so doing, she distinguished the difference between all that had come before her and her innovation because she understood that if I don’t explain to the world what problem this solves – and why that problem matters – they’re not going to want my solution. When she had no money, she no relationships…she cold called buyers…but she had grit. So she designed that first, initial prototype and she wore it to meetings to try to get buyers interested and then holy bananas, she wound up on Oprah after gritting it out, but yet she didn’t tell anybody in Oprah’s network that she was going to have to make them, pack them, ship them all out of her apartment. How in the world was she going to be able to meet the demand? But she found a way. And now she’s a billionaire. She created a category and then worked her guts out to make her dream a reality. Here’s key point that I learned from Chris, Onward Nation — “Legends teach the world to think differently about a problem, and therefore a solution. And when we accept their definition of the problem, we want the solution, and we literally line up in front of their store to get the new version when it comes out.” The magic thing that Sara, Steve Jobs, or any other Category King did successfully is that prosecuted the magic triangle, using Chris’s words. That is to say, they get product, category, and company right. On the category side, I’m sure you’ve heard that famous quote from Victor Hugo, “Not even all the armies of the world can stop an idea whose time has come.” That leaves us with the question, Onward Nation, “How do I make it my time?” So let’s move on to Lesson #2. Lesson #2: Position yourself or be positioned. This lesson is what category design is fundamentally about. For a tangible example…let’s take a look at Muhammad Ali. He brilliantly controlled the positioning of his own brand. Ali said many famous things, of course, but one of Chris’s favorite quotes was when Ali said, “If I don’t tell them I’m the greatest, how are they going to know?” We knew he was the greatest – because Ali wasn’t afraid to tell us what category he was in. It was the category of “The Greatest” and it was a category of ONE. And because he WAS the category – he controlled the economics of that category and everyone else was simply an inferior competitor. The categorization of companies and brands is a continuous thing. We as humans put everything, products, companies, services, and even other human beings into buckets in our head. Buckets like “must have,” “nice to have,” or maybe “I don’t care.” But then some marketers and business owners say, “We’ve got to figure out how to make people believe we’re a vitamin, not an aspirin.” But, as Chris taught me, what they’re really saying is, “Our category has to be urgent and important and worthy of investment.” Chris then shared a very tangible example with me. In 1999, Michael Dell was one of the most celebrated entrepreneurs on planet Earth. He was running an incredible company called Dell Computer. He was on the cover of Fortune Magazine and Multi billionaire, etc. You probably know the story, Onward Nation. However, if you roll the clock forward today, Michael Dell could walk through Times Square in New York City and go unrecognized yet he still runs the same company and he still sells the same kind of products that he sold back then. But now the company is in a lot of trouble. Had to do some horrible reverse engineering and merge with other companies and it was really fighting for its life. Onward Nation, we might ask, “But what changed?” Same guy, same products, same company, what changed is what Chris and his team call “Category violence.” The cloud, virtualization, social, mobile and all the things that we today take for granted came along, and made laptops, desktops, storage and servers not that important. In other words, the market shifted from where Dell was to where it is today, and that’s what legendary category designers do. They take a different approach to educating the world, to shift the world from the way it is to the way they want it to be. In so doing they open the world to a new problem and a new solution. When that happens a new category emerges, and if you prosecute the magic triangle, as Chris likes to say, you can get two-thirds of the economics in your space. When that happens you get to hang out with Sara Blakely. Even companies that we think of as exceptional marketers, like Disney, struggle in getting category right. For years, and still to some degree today, is struggling with how to position Animal Kingdom. One of the things that drives Disney crazy is when people refer to Animal Kingdom as a zoo, and their defense back has been, “It’s not a zoo,” and they’re trying to make it not a zoo, and now they’re finally getting traction, and that park is well over a decade old. So, Onward Nation, if you don’t tell people what you are then they’re going to apply whatever filter – or bucket — to what you do. And they’re going to make that up. Chris has discussions with entrepreneurs all the time and he asks, “Tell me about your business.” It’s my favorite opening question to ask, and often what I hear is similar to Disney’s Animal Kingdom, “Well, we’re sort of like this, but we’re not really like that. We do kind of this, but we’re a new version of that.” Then there’s this sort of discussion about all the things that they’re not, and so they go on for ten minutes trying to convince Chris they’re not a zoo. But guess what Chris is left with in his mind after all that convincing? That Animal Kingdom is a freaking zoo! Or you’re a Zoo 2.0. “2.0” is the word we put after things we don’t know. If you want to stand alone, and declare your product, your service as a true innovation then by definition it’s got to be a new category. Onward Nation, we accept other people’s thinking about the world, about our business, about our life. Category design really is trying to say to the entrepreneurs and the innovators in the world, every market or category got designed by somebody, either intentionally or on purpose, and the minute you position yourself, your company, your product inside an existing category, you are playing their game. In other words, you are living in somebody else’s thinking about how the world should perceive the value you provide — and particularly — the problem that you are solving and why solving that problem matters. What Chris and his team know is legends don’t live inside other people’s thinking. Legends ask themselves the questions, “How do I want this market to behave? Why is it the rules are this way?” Another example is Netflix vs. Blockbuster. Reed Hastings says it’s ridiculous that customers had to go to a video store, they don’t have the video that you want, you pay a late fee, etc. And instead asks the question, “Wouldn’t it be awesome if you could just go to a website, type in all your favorite movies and they magically show up in your mailbox?” In so doing Reed hacks the future, he changes the future, he creates by reimagining the problem called how do I get video into the home, and teaching us to think about how he thinks about it we all accept his problem definition, and therefore his solution. Conversely, Blockbuster went bankrupt because they couldn’t solve the problem and now Reed Hastings is one of the most successful entrepreneurs in the consumer Internet today. Our job as leaders, as entrepreneurs, is to create the future of our choosing and not to accept somebody else’s definition for how things should be. Legendary innovators do not leave their market category to chance. They don’t do marketing. They don’t do traditional marketing, Onward Nation. They articulate a point-of-view, and that point-of-view evangelizes a problem, and when that resonates with customers and it resonates with people at scale…everything changes. Once the world sees the problem the same way you want them to, Onward Nation, they cannot un-see it. Then they have to have YOUR solution. You become KING. Well, that’s what Henry Ford did. Legendary category designers understand that on the one hand you’ve got to meet the market where it is because if he had said the word “automobile” the world would not have understood. It’s shapeware vs. girdle. And we wouldn’t know who Henry Ford is. But, he was a category designer. He found a way to meet the world where it was and to use language in a very powerful way…a new language. He created a new language to take the world from where they were to where he wanted them to be. So he called his product the horseless carriage. And in so doing everybody understood what a horse and buggy was, right? Then you say horseless carriage and you go “Oh!” and the world stops. So take this lesson from Chris — think about what are things called and why are they called that, Onward Nation. When what today we call smartphones first came out, for a long time they were called, “Wireless phones.” They were in the context of what they’re not. Today they’re beginning to be described more like what they are…smartphones. And fully loaded iPhone 7 Plus, out the door is $1,000, and the reason Apple is able to do that is because we don’t think it’s a phone anymore. So, Onward Nation — pay attention to what things are named. When you position yourself inside of somebody else’s category, you are letting somebody else designed the game. And when that happens, you’re probably not in the position to take two-thirds of the economics and be the category king. Instead, Onward Nation…be intentional about category and follow Chris’ advice for prosecuting the magic triangle…and pull three levers…not the typical tow. When you do that…you will be in a position to command the economics in your category – because you will likely have created a brand new category just like Sara Blakely. With that said…I want to say thank you for being here today. I always appreciate your time and feedback. I also encourage you to download next week’s solocast – part two in our Grow Revenue series. We will dig deep into tools and the precise steps you can apply in order to fill your sales pipeline like a pro. Why is that important? Because like we discussed at the onset of today’s conversation…nearly 12 million business owners cite “Growing Revenue” as their top challenge. They are indeed feeling category pressure – and – these owners are searching for answers on how to generate the right number of leads, from the right type of prospects, to buy the right service, at the right margin. So, I am focusing next week’s solocast on providing you with the right tools and insights you need to solve those challenges. In the meantime, you should also visit OnwardNation.com/webinar and register for the free workshop I am teaching on March 23rd that will take a deep dive into how you can harness the power of LinkedIn to generate a steady stream of well-prepared prospects flowing into your business. Again, that’s OnwardNation.com/webinar. Until then…Onward with gusto!
