Mark sits with Bill McConnell to discuss, well, everything, starting with a quick exchange about the benefits of voluntary discomfort, moving into pre-Clovis arrowheads and onto evolving out of a wrestling mentality with regards to fitness into an appreciation of training for specific goals. In this case, for Bill, fitness supports his journey as a primitive survivalist, a condition that cannot be accurately pursued in a Globo-Gym. And that's the last time we talk about fitness because Bill's knowledge, experience and skills in the context of primitive survival trump just about any other topic we might discuss. By way of an introduction Bill humorously describes his drive to be "more than an Amway salesman for the bow drill." He talks about harvesting a bear with a stone point arrow and a "stick from the woods", homemade bow, homemade shaft, flint-napped arrowhead, and also about blowing 15-20 stalks in order to get close enough—15 yards—to an extremely sensitive antelope to shoot it with a primitive bow. Bill describes his path of experimental archeology (replicating old tools and using them in the real world) where he is in the real world, seeing artifacts and organic material, and being familiar enough with ancient cultures to imagine how the discovered and recovered artifact might have been used as a tool thousands of years ago. This is very different from scientific conclusions reached by researchers who have never been anything other than in 68 degrees and well-fed ...His explanation of building, customizing and using the AtlAtl is remarkable. The difference between foreshaft and main shaft is clear to me as it never was before, and how a hunter can weaponize the tool—the foreshaft—according to the game being hunted, from fish to antelope to elk and larger game, made me understand why humans are still here and many species that primitive humans hunted are not. "This is functioning art, the synthesis of art and science."At 1hr 26min they talked about the VO2 Max of various animals and the primacy of the antelope so after the conversation Mark dug up his old chart:Reinhold Messner (arguably the best high altitude climber ever)   48.8Mark Twight                                    56.6Alex Lowe (much better, faster, stronger climber than Twight)       69Miguel Indurain (five-time TDF winner)                    71Jim Ryun (1 miler world record in 1967)                   81Steve Prefontaine (1 mile in 3:54)                        84.4Bjorn Dahle (Olympic Gold Medals in several XC Ski distances)   93Certain Dogs have VO2 Max of                        90-100FunnyCide and other thoroughbreds are somewhere between    150-200Pronghorn Antelope (the highest ever recorded)            300We eventually land on the discussion of nutritional density and why people eating processed foods to fullness find themselves hungry a couple of hours later as the body inventories its intake and learns that the large meal lacked certain necessary nutrients. It's very different "when I harvest my own meat ... I don't have to eat as much of it because there is more nutrition within that food ..."Finally, it is very important to think about environment and how our presence affects it, "When we leave things for the next generation so that they find it as you did they at least have the ability to make new mistakes or try new things out ... we haven't diminished the resources ... but that's not how we have move through our environment, we have altered it, exploited it, removed some potential for understanding and growth ... and that needs to change."

GDP Script/ Top Stories for Oct 29th Publish Date: Oct 27th Hennsler: 15 From the Henssler Financial Studio Welcome to the Gwinnett Daily Post Podcast. Today is Sunday, October 29th and happy 75th  birthday to Richard Dreyfus I'm Bruce Jenkins and here are your top stories presented by Peggy Slappey Properties. History comes alive at Georgia Gwinnett College with ancient tools demonstration Editorial: Sidney Powell should turn in her Texas bar card Renova Technology Adding 30 Jobs After $600,000 Expansion In Norcross   All of this and more is coming up on the Gwinnett Daily Post podcast, and if you are looking for community news, we encourage you to listen daily and subscribe! Break 1: Peggy Slappey STORY 1: History comes alive at Georgia Gwinnett College with ancient tools demonstration The Arctos Anthropology Club at Georgia Gwinnett College had a demonstration by primitive-living expert Andrew Minnick, who showcased tool-making technologies from the Stone Ages and the pre-contact period in the Americas. Students had the opportunity to learn about ancient tools and try their hand at making them. They explored tools like the Atlatl for hunting and engaged in "flint knapping" to shape stones into tools and decorative pieces. The experience emphasized the sophistication of early human problem-solving and highlighted the importance of preserving knowledge about ancient technologies and their impact on human evolution, history, and culture.   STORY 2: Editorial: Sidney Powell should turn in her Texas bar card Sidney Powell, the former lawyer for Donald Trump, pleaded guilty to six reduced criminal charges in Georgia stemming from her efforts to overturn the 2020 presidential election. However, in Dallas, she continues to fight a disciplinary lawsuit filed by the State Bar of Texas, which accuses her of violating ethics rules by filing frivolous voter fraud lawsuits in multiple states. In a recent filing, Powell claims the bar lacks evidence to support its case. The editorial calls for her to surrender her Texas bar card and be consistent in her actions, arguing that Powell's conspiracy theories have been discredited, and her legal fight is a waste of taxpayer money.   STORY 3: Renova Technology Adding 30 Jobs After $600,000 Expansion In Norcross Renova Technology Inc., an after-market repair services company, celebrated the grand opening of its expanded facility in Norcross, Gwinnett County. Renova, which has been in the county for 22 years, invested $600,000 in the expansion, with plans to create 30 new jobs in customer service, marketing, sales, and repair work. The company's growth was supported by organizations like Partnership Gwinnett, the Georgia Department of Economic Development, Metro Atlanta Chamber, Georgia Power, Gwinnett County Government, and the Gateway85 Community Improvement District. Local officials and leaders welcomed Renova's expansion, highlighting the company's contribution to the local economy.   We have opportunities for sponsors to get great engagement on these shows. And nature is pushing that along Dams in the American West are being removed to address their declining power output, environmental damage, and the maintenance challenges they pose. The removal of dams in places like the Klamath River near the California-Oregon border is part of a trend that has seen more than 1,600 dams removed in the U.S. since 1912. Dams have outlived their usefulness, and their removal is seen as a step toward rewilding America. The Klamath River's dams were initially built for power generation, but they generated less than 2% of the power supplied by their utility in recent years. The Klamath restoration also involves partnerships with Native American communities to assert ancestral rights and promote river health.   STORY 5: Simple diet changes can improve health and reduce carbon emissions: study A new study suggests that making simple diet swaps, such as switching from beef to chicken or using plant-based milk instead of cow's milk, can reduce the average carbon footprint of food by 35% and improve the nutritional quality of diets. The research, based on the analysis of diet data from over 7,700 Americans, encourages climate-friendly eating habits to cut carbon emissions from food production, which accounts for a significant portion of greenhouse gas emissions. The study recommends easily achievable dietary substitutions to promote both environmental sustainability and personal health, emphasizing the potential of small changes to have a significant impact on both fronts.   We'll be back in a moment Break 3: ESOG – INGLES 10   STORY 6: It takes the average parent this long to get their kids to fall asleep A study of 1,000 parents with kids aged 0-8 has found that it takes an average of an hour to get each child to sleep every night. Nearly 80% of parents have to read up to three bedtime stories before their children settle down. More than 60% of parents struggle to get their kids to sleep, with many resorting to stalling tactics like asking questions (31%), needing to find a special toy (23%), feeling too hot or cold (29%), claiming to be scared of the dark (25%), or hearing strange noises (17%). Some even claim there's a monster under the bed (19%). The research was commissioned by the children's TV show Hey Duggee to mark the launch of its new Sleepy Time bedtime toy.   STORY 7: 'Lawrenceville Blooms' mural completed The city of Lawrenceville, Georgia, has unveiled its completed community mural, named "Lawrenceville Blooms." This mural project was a collaborative effort between the Lawrenceville Arts Commission and local artist Teresa Abboud. The mural is located at the intersection of Jackson Street and Buford Drive and covers 1,867 square feet. The project began with an open call for designs and was approved by the City Council in April 2023. The artwork is seen as a symbol of unity and diversity in the community and showcases the flourishing arts scene in Lawrenceville. It was created with community involvement, and the artist put in over 300 hours to bring it to life. The mural aims to inspire and connect the community through art.   We'll have final thoughts after this. Come along with me to track the early movement of homo sapiens as they hunt and eventually farm their way through the Americas and anonymously build the stage upon which the characters of our grand story will play out their historic lives.

Get ready! THE Robb Wolf is in the house and this conversation is incredible. As Kaylor says in the intro, put your thinking cap on, because Robb is getting into it and you don't want to miss a single word!   Robb shares his background and story, including his own breakdown to breakthrough experience, which took him from a vegan diet, poor circadian rhythm, autoimmune issues, ulcerative coliti, which all in was also impacting his mental health. He shares his journey from vegan to a paleo/ancestral diet and how it drastically improved his quality of life. Robb has a rich and diverse background, working with tens of thousands of people teaching fitness and nutrition, Navy Seals, Olympic champions, world champions and people that have health issues like Robb, at the end of their rope, and looking for solutions. He is an accomplished author with massively popular books selling millions of copies and that's really just scratching the surface.   Robb talks about the motivation by the mainstream to remove red meat from people's diets. His latest book, Sacred Cow, goes into this in depth, but you need to hear what he's saying in this episode. Robb is also talking about the ethics dialogue around eating meat, addresses the climate rhetoric around ruminant animals, regenerative agriculture, the narrative we are being fed and how incredibly wrong it is and the red flags that the vast majority are missing right now as the mainstream works to stifle the consuption of red meat, while pushing the most questionable alternatives.   This episode could not have been filled with much more knowledge. Robb went off in the best possible way and this is essential listening before you head over and read his books and watch the Sacred Cow documentary. (LINKS BELOW!) Please listen and share far and wide!   Guest Bio:   Robb Wolf, is a former research biochemist and 2X New York Times/Wall Street Journal Best-selling author of The Paleo Solution and Wired To Eat. He and co-author Diana Rodgers recently released their book, Sacred Cow, which explains why well-raised meat is good for us and good for the planet. Robb has transformed the lives of hundreds of thousands of people around the world via his top-ranked Itunes podcast, books and seminars. He's known for his direct approach and ability to distill and synthesize information to make the complicated stuff easier to understand.   Robb co-founded the 1st and 4th CrossFit affiliate gyms in the world, he holds a brown belt in Brasilain Jiu Jitsu, is a former California State Powerlifting champion and as part of the Discovery Channel's “I-CaveMan” series, Robb took down a 650lb elk with an Atlatl (a hand thrown spear).   SHARE THE WEALTH! Angela talks with Robb Wolf,  former research biochemist, New York Times and Wall Street Journal Best-selling author and co-host of ‘The Healthy Rebellion Radio' podcast They discuss their own blood sugar issues, effectively tracking blood sugar, the impact of moving to a low carb diet and how the 7 Day Carb Test can help you to make better-informed decisions Robb also shares great information and advice for those who want to optimise their health but have additional  challenges such as complex autoimmune and metabolic issues, explaining exactly how you can achieve optimum health and the results you want This is also a great opportunity to hear about the vital role sodium plays in the body and why it's so important to rehydrate and remineralise in the right way   KEY TAKEAWAYS Individuals can eat a zero carbohydrate diet and still have elevated blood glucose levels due to hepatic glucose release in response to high levels of stress and poor sleep Eating particular  foods can register as a stress response due to the process of eating it or how it interfaces with the gut biome The state of ketosis is subjective to the individual and the volume and intensity of their activity and individually how metabolic healthy and flexible they are Every nerve impulse and muscle contraction is driven by changes in sodium potassium status both inside and outside of cells Elevated insulin levels from overeating and intake of refined foods can be the driver for hypertension When people clean up their diet they reduce both their carbohydrate load and sodium intake Heat, humidity, and physical activity all increase the demands for good rehydration   When you reach the required level of sodium your appetite for sodium rich foods decreases All nutrients and micronutrients have a flavour but only sodium has a specific taste receptor. Sodium rich foods are usually more protein dense and more nutrient dense The 7 Day Carb Test helps you to determine how you handle the glycaemic load of carbohydrates From person to person the carbohydrate response can be very different, everyone varies and you need to focus on your total glucose displacement over time   BEST MOMENTS ‘I shifted into a low carb diet and it was magic for me' ‘When you are intolerant to a particular food it results in stress for the body' ‘People rarely have an accurate insight into their blood glucose responses to different foods, the 7 Day Carb Test provides this so that individuals can make informed decisions'   VALUABLE RESOURCES High Performance Health Podcast Series -https://angelafosterperformance.com/podcasts/ Free Fasting Guide -https://angelafosterperformance.com/fasting/ Free Health Check & Personalised Report -https://www.yourtotalhealthcheck.com/ Join Angela's Female Biohacker Community -https://www.facebook.com/groups/femalebiohacker  Biohack Your Way to Your Best Self - Join My Exclusive Female Biohacker Collective -  www.angelafosteracademy.com/female-Biohacker-collective  Get a free health check and personalised report atwww.yourtotalhealthcheck.com Watch my Free Masterclass on how to master your metabolism -www.angelafosteracademy.com/master-your-metabolism Download my free Guide to Harmonising Your Hormones -www.angelafosterperformance.com/hormones Download my  free Fasting Guide -www.angelafosterperformance.com/fasting/ Download my free Guide to Sleep Like a Boss -www.angelafosterperformance.com/sleep Join my free Facebook Community -www.facebook.com/groups/femalebiohacker Get my bestselling book Rethink Health -https://amzn.to/3vbzYOV   RESOURCES FOR THIS EPISODE http://bit.ly/female-biohacker   https://robbwolf.com/ Wired to Eat - Robb Wolf Sacred Cow - Diana Rodgers, Robb Wolf The Paleo Solution - Robb Wolf Robb Wolf Instagram Robb Wolf Substack   ABOUT THE GUEST Robb Wolf is a former research biochemist and 2X New York Times/Wall Street Journal Best-selling author of The Paleo Solution and Wired To Eat. In this weeks cavalcade of conversation the team assemble and then kick off with an immediate foray into the best tools to use to bend the legs on cavalry riders together.  A surprisingly lengthy chat about whether Ivory is a better colour for painting things white than actual white then diverts into the age-old question about deck white being better or worse than deck tan, rounding off with whether black-grey is a better black than, erm, black? Atlatl pronunciation debates occupy us all briefly, as does the entire engineering and strategic developmental back story of the Japanese Navy in a single book. That then inexorably takes us through to finding out why the book "D-Day through German Eyes" is actually a complete scam from start to finish before we look at Museum Z-scuplt cavalry, and whether their Noddy hats all need to be painted red. A 10mm Barons War-full of figures offered via kickstarter gets its' first-view, Wallenstein is broght back from the grave to cast his unevenly beady eyed at us all, there is a timely Podcast Team Vaccine Update, and in the smaller scales the best Vallejo options for ACW limbers are compared to the original soot and ochre. Adam then yet again helms an occasionally almost-proper-discussion (but still mostly "offensive rant") ISITYAA this week, looking at the tricky topic of competition wargames, and more specifically explaining his theory that curing a few bad eggs (OK, getting a few bad eggs to follow his forthright and robust advice) would rehabilitate the image of the genre, or whether this idea, much like the idea of a cured egg, is just inherently whiffy. There is a little more O-Group chat, some more ADLG:R feedback, an another obliquely onanistic theme tugs at the heartstrings in the return of Andy's Quiz.  Vallejo's Black & White Paint Set on Amazon Kaigun - The Japanese Navy book Wallenstein - weirdly animated  Museum Z-range Pseudo-Thracians

The pace at which technology is becoming obsolete is ever increasing. What was cutting-edge a decade ago, gathers dust in storage sheds today. Or, at least, most of the tech should be gathering dust in storage. Unfortunately, many organizations are lagging behind in upgrading their systems and while they may be able to stay afloat now, where will they be in another decade? Marc Murphy is the CEO of Atlatl Software, a growing tech company that provides visual configuration and CPQ tools to enable a better, more efficient sales process through the use of VR and AR. Atlatl sells to the top 10% of companies looking to move away from manual processes and commit to a digital transformation. Investing in technology can create huge ROI and improve efficiencies across an organization, and it’s something Marc sees as necessary for success in the future. “We're moving the sales process for B2B complex and industrial products outside of brick and mortar and into a virtual and augmented reality space. And we really believe that as our consumer lives change and we become more comfortable operating in a virtual space and buying and selling in a virtual space, B2B is going to move in the same direction as it has for other technologies. We've spent time creating a really unique enterprise-level capability to do B2B commerce.” Marc loves the fast-paced start-up culture, likely due to experiences throughout his life and career. First, he served as a captain in the U.S. Army, then in the private sector as a director and partner at Deloitte, and then as the CEO of Sparc, which was acquired by Booz Allen Hamilton. Marc took note of all the ways he worked as a leader, what he did well and what he would do differently if he ever got the chance to lead another company. On this episode of Mission Daily, Marc and Ian discuss all of that and more, including the importance of integrations and why he is so passionate about life in the start-up world. — We have a new partnership with b8ta! The bone fish hook that we attempt in this episode turns out to be a total failure- more on that in a future episode. Also, why do Neanderthals make me feel pretentious?

What Would The Smart Party Do?

The Kraken is a fabulous Gaming Retreat (not convention) in Germany, about half way between Berlin and Hamburg. Run by Runequest Gesellschaft e.V. a non-profit organisation, the event has very much a family feel to it, with previous guests becoming part of the organising team and new attendees welcomed to the bosom of gaming like a returning prodigal son. This year I had to make it a short trip due to Ryanair changing flight schedules among other things, but nevertheless it was worth it as always. The Kraken arrange a coach to pick up foreign travellers from Schönefeld airport (still being constructed after several years), with refreshments available on board and a chance to meet and greet other attendees – it’s a relatively painless introduction to the event itself. Arriving at the Schloss on Friday evening, food was being served (all drinks and food are included in the price) it was a warm welcome from the hosts – and already games were starting to spring up or be arranged ad hoc. I jumped in on a game of Cthulhu with Ralph, who I had convinced the previous year to run a game this time round. A Belgian, this was his first attempt at running a game in English – and a great job he did too. I think we can forgive someone who is not a native English speaker for only failing on one word – dungarees! Two Americans and another Brit rounded out the table which shows the diversity of nationalities at the event. On to Saturday morning and after a fine breakfast it was straight into the Chaosium seminar for their state of the nation pitch. An impressive five of the head honchos were in attendance and a good coverage of how the company is doing after a year or so of new management alongside some highlights of what’s coming in future months. I missed out on Robin Laws’ seminar in person, but thankfully there’s a video! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WsvCAiULq6Q I managed to fit in some axe throwing in the morning too, with the ever-patient and genial Risto taking people through the Atlatl, throwing knives, tomahawk, hatchet and two-handed axe. Excellent fun and just thing to get me in the mood for some medieval style gaming later. For the afternoon session I ran Pendragon – I’ve got a good stable of knights for this that I’ve been using for some time now, which is just as well given that my printer had died the (k)night before and I couldn’t use new ones. Again a multi-cultural table of players from Germany, Switzerland and America. We had fun dabbling with the fae realm, culminating in a fight with a giant simultaneously taking place with a dance-off between a chaste knight and the faerie queen. A fine barbecue was laid on then for the assembled guests. Attempts to shortcut the delivery of steak by going straight to the source were politely but firmly rebuffed as a danger to the supply chain. If there’s one thing a combo of Americans and Germans are good at, it’s flame-grilled meat. Vegan options we available… For the evening I got myself a place in Kenner’s Delta Green game. I’ve not had chance to properly review the new version, but it wasn’t massively different from the playtest, so no issues there. I’m used to having luck or “push” rolls from Cthulhu 7th ed, so it was mildly disappointing to be back in old school world were you often just straight up fail without the opportunity to make things worse for your character, but that aside, it’s all good. AK ran a great game, with a variety of nationalities present once again – and overall we were successful with few mental or physical casualties. I do love me some Delta Green. Sunday was going to be a short day due to inconvenient travel plans, but we determined to make the most of it. Kenners ran some Cthulhu and I’d got myself signed up for a playtest of Gianni’s WWII game defending the Russian motherland from the forces of the Reich. It was never going to go well for our brave soldiers, but we managed to get some glory and success for the People before ...
