This week on BWN, Patrick returns from vacation just in time for a huge week in the Nerdosphere! The trailer park, compared to a week ago, is very light, as the Nerds discuss trailers for the very strange Wicker and Jumanji: Open World. From there, the guys get caught up with X-Men '97 as they review episodes 5 through 7 of Season 2. With everything from Wolverine getting his adamantium back to Polaris rejoining the team to an impending clash with a deadly version of one of the most popular X-Men, the series continues to impress with its depth and storytelling. There is also a lot of News around the Nerdosphere, including a change of plans for the Booster Gold series, a confirmation that the Blade movie is truly dead, and a disappointing about-face for Wonderman as Season 2 was abruptly canceled, raising some real questions about how Marvel is handling their black actor issue. But, we close up shop this week by reviewing Spider-Man: Brand New Day. Despite the entire movie being leaked online (repeatedly), the latest movie about everyone's favorite wall-crawler was poised to have the second biggest opening box office ever, behind only Avengers: Endgame. The Nerds offer up their thoughts about the movie and answer the burning question: Is this the best Spider-Man movie ever? @WrestlngRealistwww.attitudeofaggression.com@PCTunney@itsmedpp@ViolentAesop@TheMindlessPod@therealcplatt@IWCWarChief@ChairshotMedia@BandwagonNerdsPROWRESTLINGTEES.COM/TheChairshot - Makes a GREAT GIFT!!!About Bandwagon NerdsJoin Patrick O'Dowd, David Ungar, PC Tunney, and DPP as they keep everyone up on all things nerd and maybe add some new nerds along the way. Marvel Studios has finally dropped the first trailer for Avengers: Doomsday, and there's A LOT to unpack! In this episode of SuperHero Homies, we break down every major reveal, hidden detail, Easter egg, theory, and shocking moment from the brand-new Avengers: Doomsday trailer. From Doctor Doom's mysterious plan to Thor's long-awaited return as a serious leader, we're diving deep into everything Marvel Studios has shown us and what it could mean for the future of the MCU. Is Steve Rogers really back... or are we looking at an evil multiversal variant? Could an evil Captain America actually wield Mjolnir? What are Incursions, and why are they so important to Marvel Comics and the Multiverse Saga? We answer all of those questions and much more. In This Episode We Discuss: Our full Avengers: Doomsday trailer reaction Doctor Doom's possible motivations and master plan Why Thor finally feels like a true leader again Steve Rogers' shocking appearance Is this the real Captain America or a Variant? Could an evil Steve Rogers lift Mjolnir? Marvel Comics history behind that possibility What Incursions are and why they're so dangerous Hidden Easter eggs throughout the trailer Characters that are noticeably absent Which heroes and villains we still expect to appear The trailer's biggest action scenes Our favorite moments Our biggest concerns Is Marvel relying on nostalgia... or building something genuinely special? While we're incredibly excited for Avengers: Doomsday, we also discuss the possibility that Marvel Studios could be leaning a little too heavily into nostalgia. Can the MCU deliver another Avengers: Endgame-level event, or will this become another example of fan service outweighing storytelling? We explore both sides of the debate. BONUS DISCUSSION: Clayface Trailer Before wrapping up, we also react to the brand-new Clayface trailer from DC Studios! We discuss: Clayface's comic book origin Why we're excited about the body horror direction The revenge-driven story How faithful the movie appears to be Why Clayface could become one of DC's biggest surprises Between Avengers: Doomsday and Clayface, comic book fans have a lot to look forward to, and we can't wait to see where both Marvel Studios and DC Studios go next. What do we do when we fail? Not the small, inconvenient failures, but the deep ones that keep us up at night and make us question our worth? This message takes an unexpected but compelling journey through both the Marvel universe and Scripture to explore one of the most universal human experiences. Using the story of Avengers: Endgame as a lens, we examine three instinctive responses to failure that show up not just in superhero stories, but in the lives of biblical figures like Samson, the disciples, and Peter. We see how failure can push us toward fighting, freezing, or fleeing, and how none of those responses lead us where we truly need to go. The deeper question being raised is not just how we handle failure, but what failure actually means for our identity and our standing before God. The answer, rooted in passages like Romans 5:8 and Romans 8:38-39, is both simple and profound: nothing we have done, and nothing done to us, can separate us from the love of God. This is a message that meets us exactly where we are and reminds us that our failures do not get to write the final word over our lives. If you want help in starting this journey, please don't hesitate to reach out! Is 2019 the apex year for Oscars and audience? Some say the Oscars made one of their best choices ever as embarrassment over Green Book caused voters to look overseas to South Korea, and Bong Joon Ho's class-warfare comedy-thriller Parasite, as a poor family worms their way into a wealthy family's life, only to find they were novices on an expert's turf. Audiences, however, were never going to choose anything but the big conclusion to 11 years of Marvel movies. Avengers: Endgame narrowed the focus from every character possible to the core six Avengers (and four friends) as they conduct a Time Heist to undo Thanos' victory, briefly claiming the all-time box-office record. Is Parasite the greatest Oscar winner? Is Endgame the best of the MCU? The first trailer for Avengers: Doomsday has finally arrived, and while it looks visually impressive, did it actually live up to the hype?In this solo Sigma Review, I share my honest reaction to Marvel Studios' biggest film since Avengers: Endgame. We break down the trailer, discuss Doctor Doom's intimidating debut, Thor's return to form, the long-awaited arrival of the X-Men, Loki, Shang-Chi, and what Marvel chose to reveal—and more importantly, what they didn't.I also dive into the state of the MCU after Endgame, why I don't believe "Marvel fatigue" is the real issue, how the abandoned Kang storyline affected the Multiverse Saga, and whether Doomsday has what it takes to restore the excitement that defined the Infinity Saga. Finally, we discuss Marvel's new Infinity Vision format, the Avengers: Endgamere-release, and why I hope Marvel resists the temptation to reveal too much before the film's release. Is Avengers: Doomsday the beginning of a new golden era for the MCU, or are we still waiting for Marvel to find its next great direction? Let's talk about it.

Here on Notably Disney we often think about the background score as setting the mood and energy of the visuals we are enveloped in. Composer Mike Rubino plays a major role in accomplishing that, whether in contributing scoring to marketing materials for films like Avengers: Endgame, Tron Legacy, Dumbo, and Planes: Fire and Rescue, to composing the background music for updates to Disneyland's Mickey's Toontown and, more recently, Walt Disney World's Buzz Lightyear's Space Ranger Spin. His work can also be found across projects like Nickelodeon's It's Pony series and the podcast Telepathy Tapes. Today on Notably Disney host Brett Nachman speaks with Mike on to unpack a cool career where he has had his hands in some incredible ventures.  Check out Mike's music on his Spotify, as well as following him on Instagram (@mvrubino)! Your iconic turn as a superhero made you one of Hollywood's most beloved (and well paid) stars, jump-started a genre's total dominance of the cinematic landscape, and gave you a decade-plus of mega-successful sequels and spin-offs. But that gig has finally ended. What do you do? Well, if you're Robert Downey Jr., and you've recently wrapped your long tenure as Tony Stark/Iron Man with Avengers: Endgame, you quickly find another franchise to jump into. Unfortunately for RDJ, his choice - a new spin on Dr. Dolittle, the classic kids book character who can talk to animals - wasn't as successful as his MCU days. But is the movie really the disaster many (including RDJ himself, after the fact) made it out to be? We're scrubbing up and getting ready to examine, as "June Is What the Doctor Ordered" comes to a close. Plus, after the Dolittle discussion, we allow an online randomizer to choose our next four featured movies for the upcoming "Summer Surprise" series! It's Marvel Monday and the Avengers face their ultimate challenge! ABOUT AVENGERS: ENDGAME After the devastating events of Avengers: Infinity War (2018), the universe is in ruins. With the help of remaining allies, the Avengers assemble once more in order to reverse Thanos' actions and restore balance to the universe. AIR DATE & NETWORK FOR AVENGERS: ENDGAME 2019 | Theatrical Release CAST & CREW OF AVENGERS: ENDGAME Directors: Anthony Russo, Joe Russo Writers: Christopher Markus, Stephen McFeely, Stan Lee Cast: Robert Downey Jr. as Tony Stark/Iron Man Chris Evans as Steve Rogers/Captain America Mark Ruffalo as Bruce Banner/The Hulk Chris Hemsworth as Thor Scarlett Johansson as Natasha Romanoff/Black Widow Jeremy Renner as Clint Barton/Hawkeye Don Cheadle as James Rhodes/War Machine Paul Rudd as Scott Lang/Ant-Man Benedict Cumberbatch as Doctor Strange Chadwick Boseman as T'Challa/Black Panther Brie Larson as Carol Danvers/Captain Marvel Tom Holland as Peter Parker/Spider-Man Karen Gillan as Nebula Zoe Saldaña as Gamora Evangeline Lilly as Hope Van Dyne/The Wasp Tessa Thompson as Valkyrie Elizabeth Olsen as Wanda Maximoff/Scarlet Witch BRAN'S MOVIE SYNOPSIS The movie kicks off by showing us what Hawkeye was doing during Infinity War: teaching his daughter to shoot bow and arrows. Suddenly, his wife and kids turn to dust and he has no idea why. 23 days later, Tony Stark & Nebula are stuck in space together. She's helping him heal. They're about to run out of oxygen when Captain Marvel shows up to save them. She brings them back to Earth where they're reunited with Captain America, Hulk, Thor, Rhodey & Rocket. The happy reunion doesn't last long. Tony does one of his famous freak outs, saying things he will most certainly regret. Captain Marvel gets the rundown & decides she's going to go kill Thanos herself. Everyone is like this witch shows up out of nowhere and now wants to be the hero, but Thor likes her and says we should go. So they track Thanos down. He's like oh hi. I destroyed the stones. My bad. So Thor cuts his head off. Fast forward 5 years and Scott randomly pops out of the quantum realm machine, very confused. So he goes to talk to the Avengers about his experience. He tells Cap & Natasha about how for him, the 5 years was only 5 minutes. Maybe there's some way to use the quantum realm to go back in time and stop Thanos. Only one guy is smart enough to help - Tony. But now Tony has a daughter & he's not interested in helping. But Tony can't forget about it. He pokes around and figures out how it could work. Scott, Cap, and Natasha turn to the next smartest guy they know - Bruce. He agrees to help and they do some experiments but nothing overly helpful. Tony shows up with a time traveling device and says it's time to get the band back together. They do some testing and find out they can go to the past and bring something back without changing anything. So they have a plan - team up and go get the stones and bring them to the present which would prevent Thanos from being able to do his thing. Banner, Lang, Rogers, and Stark travel back to New York during Loki's 2012 invasion. At the Sanctum Sanctorum, Banner persuades the Ancient One to hand over the Time Stone by promising that all of the Infinity Stones will eventually be returned to their rightful places in time. Plus, Doctor Strange gave it up willingly in his time which is good enough for the Ancient One. Meanwhile, at Stark Tower, Rogers successfully recovers the Mind Stone from Hydra agents posing as S.H.I.E.L.D. operatives. However, Stark and Lang's plan to steal the Space Stone goes wrong, allowing Loki to escape with it. To recover from the setback, Rogers and Stark travel further back to 1970, where Stark obtains an earlier version of the Space Stone and unexpectedly gets the chance to speak with his father. Rogers steals additional Pym Particles needed for their return trip and catches a glimpse of his lost love, Peggy Carter. Meanwhile, Thor and Rocket journey to Asgard in 2013. Rocket extracts the Reality Stone from Jane Foster, while Thor reunites with his mother, Frigga, who snaps him out of his funk and gets his swag and his hammer back. In 2014, Nebula and Rhodey travel to Morag and secure the Power Stone before Peter Quill can retrieve it. Hawkeye and Black Widow head to Vormir, where Red Skull explains that the Soul Stone can only be obtained through the sacrifice of someone you love. Romanoff gives her life so Barton can claim the Stone. As Rhodes and Nebula prepare to return to the present, Nebula's cybernetic implants connect with those of her past self. This allows the 2014 version of Thanos to learn about his future defeat and the Avengers' plan to reverse it. Thanos captures Nebula and sends her 2014 counterpart into the future to infiltrate the Avengers and pave the way for his arrival. So they all return back in the present with the stones, sans Natasha. They put the stones on an iron glove and Bruce agrees that he's probably the best dude for the job. He snaps and immediately collapses. Hawkeye immediately gets a phone call from his wife. It worked!!! But the happiness doesn't last long because 2014 Gamora used the Time Machine to get 2014 Thanos to show up and shoot the Avengers compound up big time. He's like thanks for getting all of the stones together for me. It's giant fight time, folks. And it's not looking great for the Avengers despite the fact that Thor's hammer saw Cap as worthy enough to use it. But just when it's looking bleak, Doctor Strange returns by opening portals for the rest of the Avengers to show up and join the battle. Avengers assemble and IT'S AWESOME! It's a tough battle and Scott is busy getting his van Time Machine up and running since Thanos destroyed the other one so that they can return the stones. Captain Marvel shows up last minute and it's looking like they might do it but Thanos makes the van explode. Thanos gets the gauntlet back but Captain Marvel stops him from snapping his fingers. He's able to free himself. It's looking like a lost cause but Tony looks over at Strange who holds up 1 finger, showing Tony that this is the 1 in 14 million chances they win. Tony is able to get the stones and snap his fingers and make Thanos and his baddies disappear. But unfortunately the blast was too much for Tony and he dies. At Tony's funeral, all the Avengers show up to show their respects. They create a new Time Machine and Captain America goes to return all of the stones to their proper time. But he doesn't return to present day. Well, he does but he's old. He decided to stay in 1970 and grow old with Peggy Carter. Steve gives Sam his shield. We have a new Captain America now. Jim Hill and Dan Graney unpack Marvel's latest wave of announcements, from Avengers: Endgame returning to theaters with new footage to the growing sense that Doomsday is directly rewriting what came before. Along the way, they explore CinemaCon reveals, Infinity Vision, and what Disney's internal shifts could mean for the future of the MCU. It's a conversation about spectacle, strategy, and whether Marvel is quietly reshaping its own legacy in real time. HIGHLIGHTS • Avengers: Endgame returns to theaters with newly added footage that directly connects to Avengers: Doomsday • CinemaCon reactions point to a massive, Endgame-scale story with Doctor Doom positioned as an even greater threat than Thanos • Robert Downey Jr.'s casting as Doctor Doom is driven by performance, not just star power • Infinity Vision debuts as a premium theatrical format designed to create a must-see, big-screen experience • Marvel may be repositioning Doomsday as a direct sequel to Endgame, potentially reshaping the Multiverse Saga • Rumors suggest Spider-Man's Ned could take a surprising new path after MIT, tied to his magical abilities • Deadpool may shift into a supporting role as Marvel builds toward a more ensemble-driven future • X-Men are emerging as a central pillar of Marvel's long-term storytelling plans • Disney layoffs impact Marvel's visual development team, raising questions about the studio's signature visual style • AI and freelance workflows could become a bigger part of Marvel's production pipeline moving forward • “FOMO-vision” highlights Marvel's strategy to turn theatrical releases into can't-miss events • Comparisons to classic theatrical gimmicks show how Hollywood continues to sell spectacle as experience HOSTS • Jim Hill - IG: @JimHillMedia | X: @JimHillMedia | Website: JimHillMedia.com • Dan Graney - YouTube: @TheHubbubbery | Facebook: /thehubbubbery | Website: thehubbubbery.com FOLLOW • Facebook: JimHillMediaNews • Instagram: JimHillMedia • TikTok: JimHillMedia SUPPORT Support the show and access bonus episodes and additional content at Patreon.com/JimHillMedia. Clayface is stepping into full horror territory, and Frank and Squeaks break down why that could be exactly what DC needs. The episode also covers a packed week of reboots and adaptations, including FernGully, The Phantom, Django/Zorro, RoboCop, Battlefield, and Assassin's Creed Black Flag Resynced. The back half shifts into a spoiler-heavy Invincible Season 4 review, with a big focus on Thragg, Mark's impossible choices, and the emotional weight of Atom Eve's storyline. Frank and Squeaks also dig into Xbox's future, Game Pass changes, the return of stronger Xbox branding, and whether the next console can make fans excited again. Timestamps and Topics 00:00 Avengers: Endgame 7-Year Anniversary and Favorite Character Arcs 03:05 Capital Creative Showcase and Convention Updates 04:02 Clayface Trailer Discussion and DC Horror Potential 08:27 FernGully, The Phantom, Django/Zorro, and RoboCop Reboots 16:35 Battlefield Movie and Assassin's Creed Black Flag Resynced 25:28 Invincible Season 4 Spoiler Review 40:01 Xbox's Future, Game Pass Changes, Project Helix, and Brand Identity 59:21 Network Updates, Recommendations, and Closing Key Takeaways Frank and Squeaks look back at Avengers: Endgame seven years later, highlighting Steve Rogers, Nebula, Black Widow, Hawkeye, and the idea of a Ronin video game. The Clayface trailer sparked a strong reaction because it feels more like a horror movie than a standard DC or Batman-adjacent story. Reboots dominate the news cycle, with mixed reactions to FernGully, The Phantom, RoboCop, Django/Zorro, and Assassin's Creed Black Flag Resynced. The Battlefield movie conversation centers on how it can separate itself from Call of Duty and other military films by leaning into large-scale, multi-front battles. The Invincible Season 4 review praises Thragg as a major villain, explores Mark's moral limits, and gives the season a 9 out of 10 from both hosts. The Xbox discussion focuses on Game Pass pricing, exclusives, Project Helix, and whether Xbox can rebuild its identity as a console brand. Memorable Quotes "Give me a Ronin video game. I think that'd be dope." "This needs to be treated as a full-on horror movie." "Why would McDonald's lose the Golden Arches? You guys are doing that right now." "Mark's weakness is the fact that he's a good person." "I'm excited to be a fanboy again."
