Join us as we talk about the stunning visuals, colorful chapters, understanding martial arts films, political readings, Indy's love of Tony Leung (and most of the cast, really), Chinese history, and a bunch of other things I've already forgotten. I Love This You Should Too is hosted by Samantha and Indy Randhawa Hero (Chinese: 英雄; pinyin: Yīngxióng) is a 2002 wuxia martial arts film[3] directed, co-written, and produced by Zhang Yimou, and starring Jet Li, Tony Leung Chiu-wai, Maggie Cheung, Zhang Ziyi, Donnie Yen and Chen Daoming.[4] The cinematography was by Christopher Doyle, and the musical score composed by Tan Dun. The film was nominated for an Academy Award for Best Foreign Language Film at the 75th Academy Awards. The historical background of the film refers to the Warring States Period in ancient China, when China was divided into seven states. In 227–221 BC, the Qin state was about to unify the other six states, assassins from the six states were sent to assassinate the king of Qin. One of the most famous incidents was Jing Ke's attempted assassination of the King of Qin.

Welcome to Multiverse News, Your source for information about all your favorite fictional Universes. Milly Alcock will show us her superhero landing when Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow premieres on June 26, 2026. Other than Sasha Calle's portrayal in The Flash, this means we'll see Superman's cousin Kara Zor-El on the big screen for the first time since 1984. The film will be released just a year after we see James Gunn's vision for the man of steel himself. In a move that seems telling of the new direction of MCU, the Marvel Television banner has been reintroduced and will be used for live action series such as Daredevil: Born Again, Agatha All Along, and Ironheart. The banner was previously used for MCU-adjacent shows Agents of SHIELD, Cloak & Dagger, and others. Brad Winderbaum, head of TV, streaming, and animation for Marvel Studios, said the idea is to let audiences know they can “jump in anywhere” in the MCU and still understand what's going on. Winderbaum also alluded to a Marvel Studios rebrand that encompasses Marvel Television, Marvel Animation, and Marvel Spotlight. HBO's streaming service Max released a teaser trailer for the upcoming Dune television spinoff show, Dune: Prophecy. The show is described as taking place 10,000 years before the events that lead to Paul Atreides' rise to emperor and will follow two Harkonnen sisters as they work to establish the Bene Gesserit. Inspired by the book Sisterhood of Dune, the show has mostly been kept under wraps until now. Movie goers probably should have bought a ticket for themselves and their imaginary friends last weekend as John Krasinski's new film IF didn't quite reach expectations with a $35 million opening in the U.S. Although this means it took first place at the box office, the movie cost $110 million to make and a global box office of $55 million is still a stumble. There may be hope yet for the kid-centered flick with a lot of schools across the country ready to enter summer break. Hot off the heels of an incredibly well received first season of X-Men '97, Marvel Studios seems to have found the voice of their live-action X-Men in screenwriter Michael Lesslie. Lesslie's writing credits include Assassin's Creed, The Hunger Games: A Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes, as well as the upcoming Now You See Me 3. While both parties are still in talks, if the addition pans out, it will be the most significant step to actualizing the X-Men in the MCU since Disney's acquisition of Fox in 2019. Poker Face and Russian Doll star Natasha Lyonne has joined the cast of Fantastic Four in an undisclosed role. Lionsgate is developing a John Wick spinoff movie around Donnie Yen's assassin character, Caine. Yen will reprise his John Wick: Chapter 4 role in the untitled project set to shoot in Hong Kong in 2025. The franchise expanding film, with no director yet announced, will follow the events of John Wick 4 as Caine has been freed from his obligations to the High Table. 1996 golf comedy Happy Gilmore is officially getting a sequel at Netflix with Adam Sandler returning to reprise his role. Amazon's Marvel drama Silk: Spider Society — from Sony Pictures Television — is no longer moving forward at the streamer but Sony does plan to shop the series to another studio or streaming service. Sony Pictures announced last week that I Know What You Did Last Summer, a reboot of the film with the same name as the original 1997 horror slasher, is set for theatrical release domestically on July 18, 2025. Jennifer Kaytin Robinson will direct and Jennifer Love Hewitt and Freddie Prinze, Jr. are currently in early talks to return. Last week, Disney announced that Hulu is teaming with the estate of author James Clavell to extend the FX series Shōgun for two additional seasons. A writer's room is currently being assembled. Shōgun is currently the most viewed show in FX's history.

Well would you look at that, 6 years in, we are still rambling about nonsense. Ubisoft finally announces and shows off its newest Assassin's Creed, Shadows, set in feudal Japan, allowing everyone to play out their Shogun dreams. Meanwhile, Square Enix is finally going to support a multiplatform agenda, and Helldivers breaks a record. Also Hollywood upfronts are going on, so we have a ton of TV news, not to be outdone, by the announcement of a new Lord of the Rings movie, or the return of Happy Gilmore.

From Chile to Mexico to Hollywood - and back again - Marko Zaror's incredible rise in the action world reached a new crescendo in 2023. Known as the 'Latin Dragon', Marko's scene-stealing performance as the main heavy, Chidi, in Chad Stahelski's masterpiece, 'John Wick: Chapter 4', saw him duel on-screen with fight legends Hiroyuki Sanada, Donnie Yen and Keanu Reeves; meanwhile, back in his home country of Chile, he reunited with his childhood friend - the filmmaker Ernesto Díaz Espinoza - to produce and star in their fifth indie action film together, the deeply personal 'The Fist of the Condor'. Now capable of shifting between key roles in huge productions and making his own movies the way he wants them to be made, Zaror has reached a sweet-spot in his career - but it has not been an easy journey with plenty of bumps along the way. At one point, he even considered retiring from the film industry altogether, and training to become a professional MMA fighter, until a timely conversation with Robert Rodriguez convinced him otherwise. He has since gone on to work with Rodriguez in many film and TV projects, including 'Machete Kills', 'From Dusk Till Dawn: The Series', and 'Alita: Battle Angel'. In this conversation, Marko explores his roots as a Bruce Lee-obsessed kid in Chile with a dream of making it in the movies, to eventually ripping up the screen in one of the biggest - and best - action franchises in Hollywood history.LINKSMarko Zaror on IMDb: https://www.imdb.com/name/nm1047252/Marko Zaror on Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/markozaror/Marko Zaror on Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/markozaroroficialMarko Zaror profile on Kung Fu Movie Guide: https://bit.ly/ProfileMarkoZaror'Fist of the Condor' trailer: https://youtu.be/x53EpE12AsY'Fist of the Condor' review on Kung Fu Movie Guide: https://bit.ly/FistOfTheCondor2023'John Wick: Chapter 4' review on Kung Fu Movie Guide: https://bit.ly/JohnWickChapter4KFMG'Kiltro' review on Kung Fu Movie Guide: https://bit.ly/Kiltro2006Our not-so-comprehensive list of fight-centric action films released in 2023: https://bit.ly/KFMGPodEOYShow2023PartOneSPONSORThis episode is sponsored by 'Five Deadly Rebels', a kung fu sci-fi scripted podcast from DimensionGate, available now on Spotify, Apple Podcasts, Google Podcasts and anywhere you get your podcasts. Vincent Lyn's short career in Hong Kong action movies may only span a few years, but his good looks, martial arts abilities and acting skills saw him work with some of the biggest names in the industry, operating at the height of their powers. The list includes Donnie Yen, Yuen Woo-ping, Corey Yuen, Cynthia Rothrock, Cynthia Khan, Simon Yam, and Jackie Chan. He admits he had no idea that the films he was making would go on to become so influential and cherished by generations of action fans around the world. In fact, given the ad-hoc nature and breakneck speed of Hong Kong filmmaking, he sometimes had very little concept of which film he was working on at any given time, moving from set to set as part of a staple of dependable 'gweilo' fighters who always played the villain, and ultimately got their asses kicked by the lead. His final Hong Kong film role was as the main heavy in the Jackie Chan adventure, 'Armour of God II: Operation Condor' (1991), before he returned to the USA to pursue a multitude of other talents. He became a kung fu instructor (teaching his own family style, Ling Gar Kung Fu), a Grammy Award-nominated musician, a philanthropist and humanitarian. His charity, We Can Save Children, has seen him visit some of the poorest parts of the world in a bid to end the exploitation of children. He can often be found travelling the world, meeting with dignitaries and governments, and talking at the UN. When he's not focused on his charity work, he can be found behind the piano - something he learned from his musical mother at a very young age. It's been a bit crazy for us here at the Martial Arts Mania Podcast, and we apologize about missing last week, but we're back with another great episode! We are doing our 5th edition of our fan favorite “Kung Fu Comfort Films”! Listen in as we discuss some of our absolute favorite martial arts films that we go back to again and again, whether we want to sit down and enjoy a stellar film, or just have a bit of nostalgic escapism! We've got entries from Sammo Hung, Donnie Yen, Sonny Chiba, and many more! If you prefer to see our lovely faces, the YouTube video for the episode will be out Friday! Don't forget to subscribe, download, like, and share with your friends! Thanks again for the continued support and we hope you enjoy!
