Send us a textWhen you look at what's happening in the world today—wars, division, moral confusion—it's hard not to wonder: Are we in the end times? In this compelling and timely episode, hosts Jared Haley and Mike Westerdal dive into the fascinating world of Biblical prophecy and what Scripture says about the signs of the end. Drawing from the Book of Revelation, the teachings of Jesus, and other prophetic passages, they explore how ancient words may connect to the realities of our modern world—from global politics and technology to cultural shifts that blur the line between good and evil. While opinions and interpretations vary, Jared and Mike's goal isn't to predict dates or feed fear—it's to encourage awareness, faith, and readiness. Through clear, relatable discussion, they unpack complex theological ideas like the “mark of the beast,” the rebuilding of the Jewish temple, and the symbolism of the red heifer in a way that's easy to follow and thought-provoking for believers and seekers alike. They also discuss how the Bible's references to wars, rumors of wars, moral decay, and the rise of global governance might resonate with today's headlines. Most importantly, this conversation reminds listeners that Jesus' message was never about fear, but about faithfulness, urgency, and hope. As Jared and Mike emphasize, no one knows the day or hour—but we are called to be ready. This episode challenges listeners to stay awake, stand firm, and live with purpose in uncertain times by following Christ boldly, sharing the Gospel, and living prepared for His return. Time Stamps00:16 – Welcome to the 'Strong by Design' podcast 00:40 - Join hosts Mike Westerdal & Jared Haley for today's special episode 01:10 - What exactly do people mean by 'End Times'? 04:45 - The unmistakable signs: Are we living in the last days? 05:55 – Diving into the Book of Revelation 12:22 - Unpacking the Biblical significance of the Third Shrine 19:00 – Uncovering the meaning of the Red Heifer in prophecy 23:50 - The dangers of the last days 29:53 - The true meaning of the Parable of the Ten Virgins 33:20 - In these last days, who will stand for the great commission? 39:55 - What is Christ's 1,000-Year Reign? 45:13 - This episode's challenge: Read the Word! Resources:YouVersion Bible App Connect with Mike:Instagram Connect with Jared:InstagramSupport the showConnect w/ CriticalBench: Youtube Facebook Instagram CriticalBench.com StrongByDesignPodcast.com

Welcome to The Times of Israel's Daily Briefing, your 20-minute audio update on what's happening in Israel, the Middle East and the Jewish world. Editor David Horovitz joins host Amanda Borschel-Dan for today's episode. The IDF announced this morning that the ceasefire in the Gaza Strip is now once again in effect, following “a series of significant strikes” targeting dozens of Hamas targets and operatives. The strikes came after Palestinian operatives carried out an attack on troops stationed in the Rafah area of the southern Gaza Strip on Tuesday, killing soldier Master Sgt. (res.) Yona Efraim Feldbaum. This strike on IDF soldiers, along with Hamas’s failure to return the deceased Israeli hostages -- even faking the recovery of one slain hostage -- led to Israel's retaliation, which, according to the Hamas-run Health Ministry, killed over 100. Horovitz weighs in on the nature of Hamas and the White House's recognition of Israel's right to retaliate. We hear how Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu informed the US of his intention to strike, and today appears bent on continuing with the Trump-brokered ceasefire. The Haredi community in Israel is planning a massive protest at the entrance of Jerusalem tomorrow, while the High Court is hearing petitions that the IDF draft tens of thousands of ultra-Orthodox young men, and at the same time, the Knesset is working to draft a bill that will allow most of the Haredi young men to continue to avoid conscription. We learn some details of the leaked bill being discussed by the Knesset’s Foreign Affairs and Defense Committee and hear about some of the Likud MKs who are speaking out against it. What is the power behind those actions? Pastor, speaker, and award-winning author, Max Lucado, helped us learn ways to tame our thoughts. His new book is called "Tame Your Thoughts: 3 Tools to Renew Your Mind and Transform Your Life". We must guard our thoughts and weed out unhealthy thought patterns. The Bible says we're going to need strength and effort to follow the Lord. In fact, the greatest demands of our lives will be attached to our faith. In this sermon, Pastor Allen Jackson discusses how we can step up and shape culture with our allegiance to Jesus Christ. It begins with intentional spiritual growth and discipline—often uncomfortable, but necessary. Pastor Allen shares the importance of influencing the next generation to practice godliness, and he speaks on the biblical reasons Christians should support the Jewish people. There's a lot of pushback in the culture regarding those two issues, but God is shaking the earth, revealing Himself as the only steady foundation. We can trust that He will restore His people.

Welcome to The Times of Israel's Daily Briefing, your 20-minute audio update on what's happening in Israel, the Middle East and the Jewish world. US bureau chief Jacob Magid joins host Jessica Steinberg for today's episode. With phase one of the ceasefire deal still in process, given the 13 bodies of hostages still in Gaza, Magid discusses the US desire to move into phase two of the 20-point plan for ending the Gaza war. The US is trying to create facts on the ground, says Magid, but there are concerns from the other partners regarding some of the decisions, including whether the focus should be on Hamas disarmament or postwar management of Gaza. Following last week's vote in the Knesset on a West Bank annexation bill, and the angry reaction from the US administration over the vote, Magid discusses how the Trump government has shifted its tone since February, when it announced it would back Israeli sovereignty in the West Bank and floated the idea of a Gaza Riviera. Last month, VCY held its fall rally and the guest presenter was Chris Katulka from the Friends of Israel Gospel Ministry. He spoke on the issue: Why Israel Matters. Why does Israel still matter? Chris had this to say in his opening comments concerning the Bible: "From Genesis to Revelation, this book is Jewish, OK? Do you know that your Savior Jesus is Jewish? You know he never went to church, he went to synagogue. He never celebrated Christmas or Easter. That would be awkward, OK? Jesus celebrated Passover. He honored Yom Kippur. He kept the Feast of Tabernacles. He celebrated Hanukkah. Jesus is Jewish and we believe that if you have a passion for God's Word, then you should automatically have compassion for God's chosen people." That pretty much says it all, but we encourage you to listen to this larger portion of audio from the rally as Chris explains how the existence of a Palestinian state would really be a reward to Hamas. He breaks down Genesis 12:3 (the promise to Abraham) and how it extends throughout the entire Bible. Find out why the Egyptians, Greeks, Romans, Assyrians and numerous other people groups are gone, yet Israel is still in existence. Other points are examined as well, all to show that Israel still matters!

The trio also contrasts medical and ceremonial lanes, the spiritual significance of entheogens, and how community transforms the healing arc—especially for veterans and for people navigating midlife transitions. Friends of the Rosary,Today, October 28, we celebrate the feast day of two great apostles: St. Jude Thaddeus and St. Simon the ZealotSt. Jude Thaddeus, brother of St. James the Lesser, preached the Gospel in Judea, Samaria, Idumaea, Syria, Mesopotamia, and Libya. He suffered martyrdom in Armenia, which was then under Persian rule.He is the author of an epistle (letter) to the Churches of the East, in particular the Jewish converts, directed against the heresies of the Simonians, Nicolaites, and Gnostics.St. Jude was the one who asked Jesus at the Last Supper why He would not manifest Himself to the whole world after His resurrection. He is invoked as the patron of desperate, forgotten, and lost situations and causes because his New Testament letter stresses that the faithful should persevere in the environment of harsh, difficult circumstances, just as their forefathers had done before them.Every image of him depicts him wearing a medallion with a profile of Jesus.Saint Jude Thaddeus is not the same person as Judas Iscariot, who betrayed Our Lord and despaired because of his great sin and lack of trust in God's mercy.St. Simon, who had been called a Zealot, is thought to have preached in Egypt and then to have joined St. Jude in Persia. Here, he was supposedly martyred by being cut in half with a saw, a tool he is often depicted with.Today, we also celebrate the Fourth Anniversary of the departure for the glory of heaven of Maria Blanca, co-founder of the Rosary Network, along with Mikel A. Ave Maria!Come, Holy Spirit, come!To Jesus through Mary! Here I am, Lord; I come to do your will. Please give us the grace to respond with joy!+ Mikel Amigot w/ María Blanca | RosaryNetwork.com, New YorkEnhance your faith with the new Holy Rosary University app:Apple iOS | New! ‘French Jews don't know who their friends are anymore': Rabbi Delphine Horvilleur on the Gaza war's impact

The turmoil around the Gaza war has transformed French Jews into “different people” than they were two years ago, pioneering rabbi Delphine Horvilleur said on the Haaretz Podcast. “I don't know any of any Jewish family in France who hasn’t had a conversation around the Shabbat table,” Horvilleur said, contemplating possible emigration and wondering what will remain of Jews in France a decade from now. In her discussion with podcast host Allison Kaplan Sommer, Horvilleur talks about inspiring the hit HBO show "Reformed" and the books she's penned herself: "Living with Our Dead" and "How Isn't It Going? Conversations After October 7." The rabbi also addressed the hate mail and death threats she received after writing a column in a French Jewish magazine last spring that was critical of far-right members of the Israeli government who justified denying humanitarian aid to Palestinians in Gaza as legitimate acts of war. She noted the “really harsh” threats she received were smaller in number than the amount of support. “Even today, I walk in the streets of Paris, and Jews stop me and say, ‘thank you for speaking out, because we believe exactly what you said, but we cannot say it anymore.’ Somehow the crisis and the war and the pain and the trauma created an inability to talk. "And for me, the real threat today lies in not being able to say what we think, to talk and re-engage in the Jewish conversation” in which, Horvilleur said, it is possible to be “both supportive of and critical of” Israel. In the blistering heat of New Mexico's sun-baked earth, under the protective gaze of Okuu Pin–the Turtle Mountain that majestically stands guard over Albuquerque–a strange and persistent legend has taken hold. It's a story of hidden Jews, of ancient rites disguised as Catholic rituals, and of shadowy ancestors who supposedly hid their true faith during the Inquisition. This is the tale of New Mexico's crypto-Jews—a myth so tangled in folklore, mistaken identities, and selective memory that it could only have been born in the fevered heart of the American Southwest. The modern crypto-Jew craze began, as many myths do, with an eager academic and an over-reliance on confirmation bias. In the 1980s, historian Stanley Hordes launched a search for what he believed to be the long-lost Jewish roots of New Mexico's Spanish-speaking residents—descendants, he claimed, of an elusive and mysterious population that had secretly kept the flames of Judaism alive for centuries, hidden beneath the Catholic veneer imposed by the Spanish Empire.  But when we scratch the surface and look closer at what Hordes—and his followers—were really chasing, the myth becomes apparent. A myth so potent it gave rise to an entire identity-bending industry steeped in false history.PLUS: Chapter Two of the JUAN DIEGO CODE!listener comments? Feedback? Shoot us a text! The American movement for Soviet Jewry was composed of a number of organizations, both Jewish and non-Jewish, and ranging from grassroots organizations to larger, internationally established nonprofits. Established Jewish organizations dedicated significant staff time and effort to the cause, and worked to coordinate with both regional and national grassroots organizations that quickly became instrumental in the fight for freedom. While tensions over methods and priorities would arise, coalition-building between the various organizations was critical to saving hundreds of thousands of Soviet Jewish lives. Welcome to The Times of Israel's Daily Briefing, your 20-minute audio update on what's happening in Israel, the Middle East and the Jewish world. Diplomatic correspondent Lazar Berman joins host Amanda Borschel-Dan for today's episode. Israel does not know the location of four of the remaining 13 bodies of hostages held in Gaza, even as Egypt is reportedly bringing 12 additional heavy vehicles into the enclave this morning to clear roads and assist in efforts to locate the deceased. Berman weighs in on the stability of the ceasefire as the US increases its rhetoric, pushing Hamas to release the bodies to begin the transition to phase two of the 20-point Trump peace plan. A transnational terror network run by Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps Quds Force is behind a string of recent attacks on Jewish sites in Western countries, the Mossad intelligence agency said on Sunday. We learn about senior IRGC-Quds Force commander Sardar Ammar, who heads a network of some 11,000 operatives carrying out covert operations and strikes on Jewish sites. Catherine Connolly, a veteran lawmaker on the far left of the Irish political spectrum, was elected president by a landslide margin on Saturday. She has drawn criticism for her views on the Hamas terror group, which she said in September was “part of the fabric of the Palestinian people,” as well as claims that Israel is carrying out a genocide in Gaza. Does Berman see an even rockier relationship with Israel on the horizon? Check out The Times of Israel's ongoing liveblog for more updates. In this thought-provoking episode, host Shai Davidai sits down with Dr. Mijal Bitton—Torah teacher, sociologist of American Jewry, podcast host, and co-founder of the Downtown Minyan in New York City. Together, they explore the complexities of Jewish identity in America, challenging the idea of simple labels and categories. Dr. Bitton discusses why Jewish identity is more than just a hat one can take on or off, and how American society's binary views on race and ethnicity often fail to capture the unique experiences of Jews. The conversation delves into topics like the term “Jew of color,” the impact of social constructs on identity, and the importance of embracing the full, sometimes inconvenient, truth of Jewish history. This episode offers a nuanced look at belonging, inclusion, and the ongoing conversation about race, privilege, and identity in the Jewish community. This Mussar Mondays episode explores the Gate of Miserliness in Orchos Tzaddikim, contrasting it with generosity. Recorded post-Sukkot, it emphasizes self-improvement through Mussar, focusing on overcoming the “narrow eye” (Tzar Ayin) to adopt a “good eye” (Ayin Tovah). Key themes include:Miserliness Defined: A disgraceful trait of withholding despite abundance, driven by lack of trust in Hashem, leading to insincere hospitality and social isolation (Proverbs 23:6–7) (1:13–4:37).Beyond Money: Miserliness includes withholding time, effort, or wisdom, harming relationships and Torah connection, akin to Sodom's distorted logic (4:37–17:49).Balanced Approach: Yaakov's example shows prudent care for Hashem's gifts (e.g., retrieving jars) but generosity in mitzvot (e.g., giving wealth for Machpelah). Spend wisely on Torah, not vanities (17:49–26:48).Yossala's Lesson: True generosity, as shown by Yossala the Holy Miser, is selfless giving without seeking recognition, contrasting the miser's empty gestures (8:51–13:35).Sharing Mitzvot: Wisdom and mitzvot multiply when shared, increasing blessing, unlike miserly withholding, which curses (Proverbs 11:26) (17:49–36:19).Parenting with a Good Eye: Praising children's greatness shapes positive behavior, while a miserly outlook limits their potential. Trust fosters self-correction, building character long-term (36:19–49:34).The episode concludes with a call to adopt a generous outlook, reflecting Hashem's abundance, and a preview of the next topic, the Gate of Remembrance.Recorded at TORCH Centre in the Levin Family Studios (B) to a live audience on March 17, 2025, in Houston, Texas.Released as Podcast on October 27, 2025_____________This series on Orchos Tzadikim/Ways of the Righteous is produced in partnership with Hachzek.Join the revolution of daily Mussar study at hachzek.com.We are using the Treasure of Life edition of the Orchos Tzadikkim (Published by Feldheim)_____________Listen, Subscribe & Share: Apple Podcasts: https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/jewish-inspiration-podcast-rabbi-aryeh-wolbe/id1476610783Spotify: https://open.spotify.com/show/4r0KfjMzmCNQbiNaZBCSU7) to stay inspired! Share your questions at aw@torchweb.org or visit torchweb.org for more Torah content.  _____________About the Host:Rabbi Aryeh Wolbe, Director of TORCH in Houston, brings decades of Torah scholarship to guide listeners in applying Jewish wisdom to daily life.  To directly send your questions, comments, and feedback, please email: awolbe@torchweb.org_____________Support Our Mission:Our Mission is Connecting Jews & Judaism. Abraham Hamra knows the historic plight of the Jewish diaspora better than most. At six years old he was separated from much of his family, unsure if he'd ever see his grandparents again.  He was among the last Jews left in Syria, and just a year after announcing Jews could leave Syria for the US, the Assad regime reversed course, and said the remaining Jews were stuck. Abraham and his family were trapped. Eventually, the policy was reversed and Abraham was able to reconnect with his family in the US, and eventually with the rest of his extended family living in Israel. Now, alongside a successful career as a lawyer, Abraham advocates for Israel on social media and on the streets of New York. He speaks widely about not letting Jews get bullied anymore, and he lives what he preaches. It's time to hear some motivation from one of the strongest — and loudest — Jewish voices in America. Abraham and Jay talk about how, in America, Abraham has grasped and now wields Jewish strength, how he teaches other Jews to do the same. Abraham shares about the support he has received from his professional colleagues, and the shocking lawsuit he has had to file to protect his reputation. The story of a young man who dressed as an SS officer for Halloween, and was assaulted, is the pulse of our society. In a time where a man can dress as a psychopath or murderer, a woman as a degenerate whore, an historical costume of fine detail is rejected with violence by mobs of hysterical, brain dead drones. Worse still, the man was charged with assault despite the woman he supposedly assaulted assaulting him on camera - itself part of another issue that involves double standards for men and women in society. It shows the acceptability of violence if it is considered justified and the violence against men if the same is considered justified. Hindu and Buddhist swastikas, or the Manji, are treated in like manner by ignorance. Otherwise, it's perfectly acceptable to wave flags with a hammer and sickle that represent an ideology that not only killed hundreds of millions of people in the 20th century alone, but that is making a resurgence today with terrifying numbers of people demanding its implementation. Furthermore, these things have been blamed somehow on Islam when its founders were actually close to being exclusively Jewish. Similar reactions of screaming and curses can be found on the religious right when confronted by witch costumes. What is happening here if not the reactions of cult adherents? Underlying these topics is the lack of definition about many of things we accept or condemn by reflex action. *The is the FREE archive, which includes advertisements. Ori Goldberg, an independent analyst and specialist in Middle Eastern Studies, analyses the profound militarisation within his country, Israel, that involves the “desensitivisation as to the very existence of Palestinians as human beings” such that Israelis themselves know nothing about Palestinians, resulting in the only permissible history of Israel being that of the Jewish narrative. Covering the deeply ideological and historical “zero-sum game” whereby Israelis are uniquely allowed access to the narrative of victimisation, Goldberg explains the refusal of Israelis to see the humanity of Palestinians, remarking, “If they are acknowledged as full-fledged humans, then there is something wrong with us, there is something that undermines our right to live here.” Observing how the desensitisation of Israelis to Palestinians functions, Goldberg claims that Israelis do not possess the language to describe Palestinians “except as a threat” in the second order; however, Israeli's first order of understanding the Palestinian is that of “nothingness” where Palestinian deaths “don't even register.” Assessing the greatest weakness of Israel—that it does not register the reality of Palestinians—Goldberg describes how a member of Knesset stated that the only health risk facing Gazans is “obesity,” noting, “That is not how you want to talk about a people who actively, consciously want to vanquish—it's how you talk about a people whose existence seems like a fantasy to you to begin with.” The fact that Israel attacks at will and kills indiscriminately, Goldberg asserts, is not significant in terms of its strategic power. To the contrary, Goldberg suggests that Israel's main weakness, despite its aggression, is that it has alienated even its closest allies while also coming very close to being a failed state. Suggesting that Israel can only be saved through a “strategic implosion” that will ultimately shape its “response and its willingness to accept externally imposed positions,” Goldberg confirms that the light on the horizon is that vast majority of the world's population no longer cares about Israelis' feelings or their sense of victimhood, noting that Israel can blame itself for the position in which it has created for itself. In this episode, I sit down with Rabbi Pill to explore the power of Mar Cheshvan and discover that it's not a spiritual lull at all, but the time when we're meant to integrate the inspiration of Tishrei into everyday life. We discuss how Jewish time moves in an upward spiral, and how Cheshvan shifts us from “gadlus ha'mochin” (expanded consciousness) to “katnus ha'mochin” (constricted consciousness), when serving Hashem without emotional highs becomes the real avodah. Drawing from Torah, Kabbalistic, and Chassidic sources, we reflect on how our service counts most when the excitement fades, and how the letter Nun—representing both falling and divine support—reminds us that every descent can become the beginning of an ascent. We also connect Cheshvan to the Flood and the dedication of the First Temple, showing how this same month can hold both darkness and revelation. On a practical level, we talk about yearning honestly for renewed connection, resisting the urge to escape discomfort, and carrying even one small piece of Tishrei forward—whether a mindful bracha or a focused moment in tefillah. The message is that Cheshvan invites us to bring Hashem into our work, family, and daily routine, turning quiet consistency into true transformation.Join the Conversation! Be part of our growing community—join the Shema Podcast for the Perplexed WhatsApp group to share feedback, discuss episodes, and suggest future topics.
