Adam and Dr. Drew kick things off by looking back at the rise and fall of MTV, and what its disappearance says about culture and attention spans today. Adam rants about how modern life lacks procedure and structure—especially for young men—while Dr. Drew unloads on ignorant, agenda-driven reporting around medicine and Trump. Adam fires off on the media that tries to equate Biden's cognitive struggles with Trump's, before the guys wrap by breaking down the difference between consistently reliable people and those who consistently disappoint.See Privacy Policy at https://art19.com/privacy and California Privacy Notice at https://art19.com/privacy#do-not-sell-my-info.

Brian, Blake, and Richard are back for Episode 599 of the Chasing Tone Podcast - Blake's cougar encounter and the ultimate tune-able tube screamers  It's a new year and Bri goes straight to the resolutions and nonsense, predictably, ensues before he makes a massive revelation and interrogates Richard's brain. Meanwhile he has been dreaming of adding a bender to his Les Paul and the guys were impressed by Brian's impersonation of Keith Richards. Richard get's all nostalgic for MTV but thanks to a website he was introduced to (https://wantmymtv.vercel.app/) he is able to sate his whimsical leanings. This leads the guys into a trip down memory lane as they discuss their favorite periods of the legendary music station that is no more. Richard is also disappointed with a new Bowie documentary but managed to catch GAS from it nevertheless.Blake has a "vintage" looper pedal and the guys talk about it at length. Brian comes up with an insane ground-breaking pedal design and the guys discuss it via the medium of Jell-o. Meanwhile the guys have been listening to some new music and tell all. Flat earth theory, The Buggles, The Great Cornholio, Streindberger, Phil Lynott, Nick Cave...it's all in this week's Chasing Tone!We are on Patreon now too!Support the show (https://www.patreon.com/chasingtonepodcast)Courses and DIY mods:https://www.betterguitartone.comhttps://www.wamplerdiy.comhttps://www.guitarpedalcourse.comYoutube:https://www.youtube.com/@chasingtonepodcastFind us at:https://www.wamplerpedals.com/https://www.instagram.com/WamplerPedals/https://www.facebook.com/groups/wamplerfanpage/Contact us at: podcast@wamplerpedals.comSupport the show

Welcome to an Encore Presentation of the first episode ever of Revolutions Per Movie...It had to start somewhere...and of course I had to begin with 'Dig' the Dandy Warhols/Brian Jonestown Massacre documentary! I was so happy that my first discussion already had a surprise guest to dismantle the film from the inside. Oh, the youth of us all...ha! (Episode 1 originally aired on Sept. 14th 2023).The original show notes:Hello and welcome to Revolutions Per Movie, a podcast about music documentaries, music-based fiction films, and the art of the music video.I'm your host, Chris Slusarenko— a musician who has been in bands such as Eyelids & Guided By Voices and was once the owner of an independent video store in Portland, Oregon, for over 22 years. For our inaugural episode, we talk with author/musician Ryan H. Walsh, who chose the Brian Jonestown Massacre/Dandy Warhols documentary film “Dig!” to discuss. We are also joined later by a surprise guest from the Brian Jonestown Massacre camp, Travis Snyder, who was the band's tour manager for almost 20 years. We talk about how the film was initially commissioned to be a reality series by MTV, how bands in the 90s navigated the major label-feeding frenzy, the unhealthy lifestyle of band life, and how this documentary really did not tell the whole truth. So listen in as we discuss the revolution that never happened on this episode, Revolutions Per Movie. On the new Billboard Pop Shop Podcast, we're sorting through all the memorials to discuss the real story, which is that MTV shuttered the last remaining music-only channels throughout the world -- but the move doesn't impact the version of MTV that U.S. viewers can very much still tune into. In this episode, Rob and Dave fire up the musical time machine and pit 1982 against 1992, two years that changed the sound of pop in very different ways. They start by breaking down each year's Billboard Top 5 hits, where synths, power ballads, and early MTV shine in '82, while '92 flexes with grunge tremors, hip hop dominance, and slick pop polish. From chart-toppers that ruled car radios to songs you could not escape at the mall, they examine what these hits say about the mood, style, and cultural heartbeat of their respective years. But the charts never tell the whole story, so Rob and Dave dig deeper into the tracks that lived just outside the Top 5 and still hit hard today. Cult favorites, album cuts, and radio staples that helped define each year get their moment in the spotlight, sparking debate, nostalgia, and a few friendly jabs. In the end, the gloves come off as Rob and Dave each make the case for which year truly delivered the better music. Was it the neon glow and new wave confidence of 1982, or the raw edge and genre-blending brilliance of 1992? One year will win, one will lose, and the listeners get to ride shotgun for the showdown Pandora: https://pandora.app.link/iq8iShjXOLb   Apple: https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/totally-80s-and-90s-recall/id1662282694    Spotify: https://open.spotify.com/show/11dk5TUoLUk4euD1Te1EYG?si=b37496eb6e784408    Amazon Music: https://music.amazon.com/podcasts/1960c8f9-158d-43ac-89a6-d868ea1fe077/totally-80s-and-90s-recall    YouTube Podcasts: https://youtube.com/playlist?list=PLH9lGakNgCDZUkkHMUu88uXYMJu_33Rab&si=xo0EEVJRSwS68mWZ   Playlists:   Spotify: https://open.spotify.com/playlist/2cWEYCeauBC2YQ2gPCclqS?si=6GRxM-HvRxq_zm5BMQ0-rw    Apple: https://music.apple.com/us/playlist/1982-vs-1992/pl.u-DdANGd5Il5eXZJ?ls   Amazon: https://music.amazon.com/user-playlists/58f46ae3852544f99f39ddc924b55b95sune?marketplaceId=ATVPDKIKX0DER&musicTerritory=US&ref=dm_sh_ftRbegaLyvBef0UBYyxDv3g57   Contact Us: Website: https://totally80s90srecall.podbean.com/  Email: 80s90srecall@gmail.com LinkTree:https://linktr.ee/80s90srecall

Toronto's melodic punk lifers Wasting Time are back with their new single “Ripped Blue Jeans”, out December 12 via People of Punk Rock Records. It's a nostalgic rush of anthemic hooks and heart-on-sleeve energy that could've soundtracked any MTV's 120 Minutes marathon. The track captures that feeling of late 90s freedom, cracked sidewalks, stickered guitars, the smell of sweat and stale beer in community-hall venues, and long summer nights when the world still felt small enough to dream your way out of it. Formed in 2017, Wasting Time has steadily built a catalog rooted in melody and sincerity: five EPs, three full-length albums, and a streak of singles that echo the honesty and grit of Alkaline Trio, No Use for a Name, MxPx, Blink-182, and Green Day. Their latest release, Hurry Up and Wait, cemented their reputation as one of Canada's most reliable carriers of melodic punk tradition, and “Ripped Blue Jeans” only deepens that lineage. Mixed and mastered by Matt Gauthier at Arc Studios, the single offers the first taste of their upcoming full-length, Are You Out Of Your God Damn Mind?, due out in the new year. The song hums with the spirit of a simpler time, before algorithms and playlists, when discovery meant burning mix CDs or catching a new band between Tony Hawk Pro Skater soundtracks. You can almost see the baggy Dickies, chain wallets, and flannel shirts tied at the waist. It's a nod to every kid who ever scribbled lyrics in the margins of a school binder or fell asleep to Dookie playing on repeat. Wasting Time capture that pulse without imitation; it's not nostalgia for its own sake, but a reminder of why those songs mattered in the first place. Our book of the year by John Fugelsang. We also look at how voices like Dave Chappelle, Jon Stewart, John Oliver, Ricky Gervais, South Park, Jimmy Kimmel,  and Gianmarco Soresi are shaping the conversation by doing what institutions won't: telling the truth with jokes sharp enough to hurt.On the political side, we dig into the rise and reactions around Zohran Mamdani, Gavin Newsom, Jasmine Crockett, and Marianne Edgar Budde, and why satire might be more effective than speeches at cutting through the noise. With insight from J-L Cauvin and the absurdity that only 2025 could deliver, we ask the real question:Are we laughing because it's funny—or because it's the only way to survive? This episode is about humor as protest, comedy as commentary, and why laughter might be the last honest currency left Follow us at Reality Redemption on Facebook, Instagram, Threads, BlueSky and Tik Tok

Send us a textSnow piled up outside and we cracked open Ellicottville's holiday variety to see what stuck. The “sugar cookie” ale promised vanilla and bakery warmth, but our palates landed on semi-sweet green tea with a syrupy hint, sparking a real talk about flavor names, expectations, and how seasonal beer labels set you up before the first sip. From there we mapped out our path to video: quick reels now, smart gear later, and a steady cadence built on honest reactions at the table rather than a perfect studio. The nostalgia wave hit when we turned to MTV's sign-off after 44 years. We relived the early music video years, the pivot to reality TV, and the moment YouTube made curation on-demand. That shift changed how artists break, how fans discover, and why short, searchable clips beat a cable slot. Music videos didn't die—they moved to a platform where you can find exactly the song you want in seconds.Redemption arrived with the Chocolate Cherry Bomb imperial stout at 8.2%. Big chocolate on the nose, a rich body, and a shy cherry note that flashes late before a dry, slightly bitter finish. We'd order a pint to try, but it's not a case buy; still, it's a solid winter sipper for stout fans. We also look ahead to St. Patrick's season—Irish reds, dry stouts, and ambers—and swap Savannah stories: long parades, sip-and-stroll charm, and cobblestone history that makes a beer taste better in your hand.If you love beer reviews with unfiltered honesty, a dash of music history, and road-tested tips for building a creator workflow, you're in the right place. Pour something cold, rate along with us, and hit play. Enjoyed the show? Follow, share with a friend, and leave a quick review to help others find it. Heavy Metal Gods Judas Priest make their first appearance on the Album Review Crew with their most controversial album. This is Judas Priest with their classic lineup, led by charismatic frontman with his legendary vocals, Rob Halford. The dual guitar attack by Glenn Tipton and K.K. Downing is amongst the best in heavy metal. Ian Hill on bass and Dave Holland on drums complete the rhythm section. Turbo made it to #17 on Billboard album charts and eventually went platinum. Their videos for Turbo Lover, Locked In & Parental Guidance were in the MTV rotation . Turbo was a vast departure from what Judas Priest fans were used to and caused quite a stir. Their image and sound, especially the use of synthesizers was shocking to many. This was the Patreons' pick (especially Frank Anzalone). So tune in to find out if you are my Game Show Lovaaaa! Spoločnosť Paramount na jeseň tohto roka oznámila, že hudobná stanica MTV končí všade okrem Spojených štátov a Kanady. Prežije len kanál, ktorý vysiela reality shows. Končia u nás teda MTV Music, MTV 80s, MTV 90s, Club MTV a MTV Live.

This is not an interview. This is 2.5 hours hanging out in CT's kitchen while he says exactly what's been on his mind. For one of our final farewell episodes, we sat down with Chris “CT” Tamburello — the GOAT of The Challenge — and from the second the recording started, it turned into an unfiltered, no-intro, no-outro, no-rules rant about the state of the show, the direction it's heading, and why he's feeling disconnected from the modern era of The Challenge.CT goes off on The Challenge 41, the newer rookies, casting decisions, alliance structures, and why he's actively looking to move on to other reality TV opportunities. We talk about how casting works behind the scenes, how MTV has changed its approach to educating viewers on serious topics like addiction, homophobia, and racism, and why the game just doesn't feel the same anymore. At one point, CT even surprises us with a “guest” — Jozea — which somehow leads to an entirely separate conversation about representation, friendships that make zero sense, and how different players actually get selected for seasons.Topics include:• CT's raw thoughts on The Challenge 41• Why he's frustrated with the new rookies• The evolution (and problems) of modern casting• How MTV approaches social issues on the show• Why the OG era felt different• Reality TV beyond The Challenge• And 2.5 hours of classic CT venting, storytelling, and chaosThis episode is part of our “With That Being Said…” farewell playlist — a thank-you to Challenge fans who've supported us through every era of this podcast. If you've ever wanted to just sit back and listen to CT talk without filters, structure, or PR polish… this one's for you.No questions. No script. Just CT.Two more episodes before we're officially shut down so make sure you follow along and don't miss the end of our final farewell run!

    • Santa bit: hates his house, trapped at the North Pole, built his own prison • New-year housing + Fed rate cuts/interest shifts; sponsor: Bart Marek real estate (CFL experts, referrals, free consult) • After-Christmas mess: cleanup/trash, hangovers, household sniping, accidentally tossing important stuff • "Best Of" setup: clips across ACT/AMT/OG/BDM/Friday Free; Friday Free framed as semi-secret; Love Thy Neighbor included • Big thanks: T&D Media supporters + BDM members (money + community), events/merch/customer service, choosing them over other subs • Fake tribute → clarify Tony P is alive; real appreciation; staff love for Tracy (events/Beerfest), Melissa (social/video; curates Best Of), Merchman Eric (10+ years) • Colette/Andrea on-air counseling; Colette's media rise; joking 'no thanks' because she's doing too well • LTN main thread: sex vs connection—love languages (touch vs non-touch), 'new love language' joke, high-libido/sex-schedule/competitive frequency talk • Libido mismatch: exhaustion, sex feels long when you're not in it; resentment when you 'give in'; distractions/comments/chores can kill desire fast • Biology vs emotion debate: hormones/medical jokes; expert framing—men more spontaneous desire, women often need arousal + emotional safety/connection first • Connection fix ideas: empathy for workload, affection/conversation/help as warm-up; 'chores for sex' joke; phones/screens making partners feel unseen; groping without connection gets rejected • Burned-out pursuer: repeated rejection → emotional shutdown; warning it's hard to reverse; address disconnection early • Gesture fail story: wildflowers/plants meant as romance get lost in clutter/poor placement; gestures ≠ what partner asked for; define what "connection" means • Curiosity tools: better-than-'how was your day?' open-ended questions; admit it may feel clumsy but it's genuine care • Long-term love reality: honeymoon/limerence chemistry vs decades-long seasons; social-media comparisons distort expectations; longevity ≠ quality • Practical 'homework': non-sex touch as glue—two 6-second kisses, 20-second hugs, cuddling without turning it into sex pressure • Fireworks sponsor bit: preview/plan online, don't overpay big-box; escalating 'bigger fireworks' jokes • Random riffs: White Claw flavors (session vs Surge; clementine/orange fave); beer spa disgust + sanitation questions; dream of a giant martini-glass event prop • BDM block: tiers/schedule, app/site upgrades; 11+ year archive; protected stories + experiments like "Pukes of Hazard" and listener puke tales • Puke highlights + open-mic disaster: food-poisoning + religious intervention injury → losing religion; concussion/freezer/bar pukes; drunk dad pukes on disabled comic's shoes; host cleanup + backlash • Travel/adventure: COVID cancellations; South Africa; rhino dehorning conservation (heli tranquilizer, blindfold/earmuffs, horn=fingernail regrowth, secret storage, strict penalties); wild dogs + miserable moose safari/gnats/bog rant • Old radio/prank nostalgia: open Facebook posting + planted 'evidence,' corporate reprimands, later regret about wasting time • Home repair panic: buzzing/flicker danger signs, being talked down to; DIY vs pro, cost/insurance fear; aluminum wiring reveal (burned outlets, Illumicon/drywall confusion, inspection vs real safety) • Personal/comfort stuff: mentor/father-figure reflections; stereotype flip when mentor posts with new Xbox; gaming talk (Diablo IV); mortgage refi sponsor (proactive review, wait for the right moment) • Best Of guests: Green Jelly/Green Jello's Bill Manspeaker—lied into a deal, frantic claymation, MTV legend, Tool connections; Ross vs Bob Zany scheduling drama + 'final appearance' vibe • Family/kid segments: mud walk logistics + owl-pellet misunderstanding bet; Tracy + kid guest 'White Claw kid' gag (repeatedly: no alcohol); dance-discipline talk; library macramé → earrings biz (pricing vs integrity/'no outsourcing') + handwritten card ### • Social Media: https://tomanddan.com | https://twitter.com/tomanddanlive | https://facebook.com/amediocretime | https://instagram.com/tomanddanlive

This week I'm joined by IRA ROBBINS (Editor & Co-Founder of TROUSER PRESS magazine) as we end the year with the 1959 U.K. cult classic EXPRESSO BONGO!!!We discuss how Ira's influential magazine was started on a whim, and how as outsiders they wanted a different approach to rock journalism, how they got a long-form interview with Jimmy Page, how the magazine made me feel smarter by reading it, the wild highs and lows of publishing Trouser Press, making mistakes in journalism, writing a letter to Pete Townshend and the reply that came back in the mail, how 70s rock journalism still held power in the culture of the time, the Devo/William Burroughs interview, how they got difficult interviewees to open up to their writers, how the magazine become an obligation rather than an opportunity over the years, the hardcore punk movement, how and why the magazine stopped publication, MTV's influence on music journalism, Laurence Harvey's strange and powerful performance in Expresso Bongo, how young Cliff Richard was in this film, the incredible opening title sequence of the film, how the film pushes the cultural boundaries for young people in the late 50s, the British kitchen-sink drama movement, how the film was originally a West End musical and the differences between the two, how sleazy and risqué the film is for its time, The Shadows, how exploitative the British rock management world was, the threat of the 50s teenager, the alternate ending of the film and so much more.So let's spin in circles while shattering our espresso cups on the ground on this week's episode of Revolutions Per Movie!!TROUSER PRESS BOOKS (you can read the entire Trouser Press Magazine run in their archives!):trouserpressbooks.comREVOLUTIONS PER MOVIE:Host Chris Slusarenko (Eyelids, Guided By Voices, owner of Clinton Street Video rental store) is joined by actors, musicians, comedians, writers & directors who each week pick out their favorite music documentary, musical, music-themed fiction film or music videos to discuss.
