From Ballerina to Corporate Branding to Extraordinary Fitness Trainer If you are a woman who is feeling down about your health or your fitness, maybe your weight, or just life in general, you are in for a treat.  This episode can offer our male listeners plenty of fitness tips and inspiration as well, so don’t write this one off until you give Kristin a listen for a few minutes - you will be captivated by her story! Kristin began studying ballet at the age of five. Like most girls, her body underwent a transformation in her teen years that ended her ballet career at age 15. Not because she could no longer perform ballet - the “gatekeepers” of her local ballet school told her that her body was “not the right shape” for ballet. This was an unfortunate event that made a considerable impact on Kristin. Tragically they took her first love away from her, so she shifted into other forms of dancing for the stage.  Fast forward to her early twenties - Kristin began a new career in the adult beverage industry, working in the branding and marketing departments. This work involved a lot of traveling, and Kristin was also the only woman in a team of 18 men. She shares how these years molded and shaped her in many good ways that empower her practical fitness coaching work today.  She’s a biohacker, certified fitness trainer, a “high-performance maven,” and a nutrition specialist who loves helping women gain optimal health.  Tune in to this interview with Kristin. Allow her wit and wisdom to capture your attention as she shares her passion for fitness, biohacking, and testing the human body to see how far it can go.   In this podcast, we cover: Kristin’s journey from child ballerina to corporate branding to certified fitness trainer How she bought a fitness studio to transition out of corporate America  What it means to be in “warrior woman mode” How Kristin coaches women to become warriors while developing other “softer,” vulnerable parts to their personality Kristin describes her typical clients and the journey she takes them on Why Kristin strongly believes in ice baths and why she has her clients do ice baths despite their initial fears How Kristin incorporates meditation into her program The legacy Kristin wants to leave on this earth The Beginnings of Kristen’s Warrior Woman Mode Mission In her own words: “Warrior woman mode is a name I pulled, the LLC name, five years ago. I wanted a name that encapsulated strength and a little bit of that ancestral health, like a nod to traditional health. I want women to understand how strongly they can stand. I always talk about women as powerhouses. They can have a ripple effect on the world.  So there is a warrior aspect, but I also like to remind myself and help my clients discover that they don’t have to be so intense. I have a Type A personality, and I work with many Type A females - but there is a softness that we need to bring to ourselves. There is a vulnerability. I think moving to California helped me open up slowly. Five years ago, I wouldn’t have talked about my background in the same way because it felt personal or like a wound that I didn’t want to share. But there’s a softness, and that softness has strength when you can talk about your broken parts.  That’s what I like to find - women who feel like it's broken, and I show them it’s not really broken. It’s a vital part (of yourself) to share.”  How does a woman become a warrior yet retain their total femininity but can flip a switch at any time and say, “not today”?  Kristin said, “What I’m doing is working with women from a 360-degree health perspective. I’m not a medical doctor. And the women that come to me typically are between ages 30 to 55.  These women come to me for several reasons. Before Covid, it was mainly to lose weight and feel better. Which I think is upside down. You need to cultivate a healthy body, and then you can lose fat. If you’re looking for fat loss so you can gain more muscle, have better mental acuity, or sleep better? All those things will happen.  So what I do is work with women to help them understand that this is a 360-degree picture.  If a woman comes to me with a medical condition, that’s challenging. I will work with their doctor and make sure there are conversations. We’re all in the loop together. I spend nine weeks with them, and I’m a combination of the best accountability cheerleader and experienced coach they could ever have.  Be sure to tune in to the full episode if you want to wrap your brain around the “warrior woman mode” mindset and way of life. Kristin has 20+ years of fitness coaching experience along with many certifications, including breathwork. You have probably heard people talk about taking cold water plunges or ice baths and the positive benefits that result from doing something that seems so crazy on the surface. Kristen’s level-headed and personable approach to coaching will steer you correctly - even in ice water.  Take the plunge - ice baths could change your life.  Episode Resources:  Warrior Woman Mode dot com WellPower Podcast dot com Warrior Woman Mode on Instagram WellPower Podcast on Instagram

Long before becoming a Code Red Certified Coach, 40-year-old mother of 4, Kristin Small would crawl on her belly from her bed to the shower each morning. Her crippling psoriatic arthritis caused every joint in her body to seize up. Hear how she went from $26,000/mo in chemotherapy medication to complete healing and restoration from CODE RED. Psoriatic arthritis is an autoimmune inflammatory condition that affects the joints and the skin. It is a serious condition that is treated with chemotherapy. It impairs mobility and may even lead to permanent joint damage. Kristin suffered from crippling pain from Psoriatic arthritis for a long time, to the point of crawling around her home. She couldn’t do the normal day to day tasks. She sought treatment and was prescribed a cocktail of expensive drugs, which led to liver problems. All along her medical journey, no one mentioned having to look at her diet. All this changed when a friend recommended Code Red. She bought the book and joined the challenge, and that’s when her true healing began. In eight and a half months, she had lost 135 pounds. She was completely off her medication, and her blood pressure, cholesterol, and liver enzymes were back to normal. She got her life back, and everything got back to normal. She is now in Code Red’s maintenance program. Kristin Linklater has been helping people to transform their voice into an instrument of passion, power and performance for many, many years. I am honoured that she is a guest on the show and that she is sharing such value for anyone that wants to reach their full potential as a public speaker. She has had a long and distinguished career as a teacher and actor in Europe and America. She has worked with some of the most prestigious theatre companies and dramatic institutions in the world and has written one of the seminal books on voice technique based on hearing ‘the person, not the voice.' Kristin has published several articles on voice and has lectured and given workshops in the U.S., the UK, Europe, Russia, Taiwan and China. Since 1965 she has trained over 200 teachers in her methods; they teach in a majority of the actor-training programs in the U.S., and in Australia, England, Germany, Italy, Belgium, Finland, Spain and Russia. Today, Kristin is still teaching her method in courses at the Kristin Linklater Voice Centre in the Orkney Islands.   I hope you enjoy the show.  What we talk about: The mysterious origin of modern voice technique. The connection between mind, body and voice. The difference between a ‘free' voice and an ‘inhibited' one. The ‘vertical' experience of the voice and why speakers should be using this in their talks. Why we ‘unlearn' how to use our voice to its full potential. How our jaw protects us from ‘feeling' unwanted emotion.  Examples of bad voice habits and how they impact the quality of our performance? How trying to control our voice reduces our vocal stamina. Why public speakers must ‘feel' the words and not hide behind a presentational tone. The link between our limiting beliefs and our voice. Why the stories we're silently holding onto are sabotaging our voice and our message.  The step on stage ‘mantra' for conquering the primal fear that stops you from speaking or affects your performance.  Tips for speakers to help improve the quality of their voice. Kristin's process for putting her own keynote talks together. How Kristin uses stories to create aha moments.  Who really wrote the plays of Shakespeare! We spoke about her ideal client and why she loves working with southern brides.  She shares how she’s used giveaways to lead people into her business and where she’s currently feeling stuck. I shared a few of my best marketing practices that would help her to uplevel her business including how she could upsell her products, build relationships and partnerships with other local vendors and getting couples to commit to doing a wedding. We talk about: How Kristin got into wedding photography Kristin’s ideal bride Where she feels the most stuck at in her business Using competitions to lead people to her business Building out her pipeline for future weddings Creating partnerships with other local wedding vendors Using upselling techniques  How Kristin gets couples to commit to a wedding How to go above and beyond for other vendors Mallory’s advice for lead generation From Kristin: I'm Kristin LeAnn, a fine art southern wedding photographer based in Raleigh, North Carolina.  I am 30 years old and a native North Carolinian!  I am an entrepreneur, artist, photographer, and designer. My obsession with art and everything creative means your session is truly exciting for me (and you!) Each session is personalized and designed with each individual in mind.  While I strive to provide amazing portraits you will look back on for years to come, the most important thing is the experience.  My love for photography began when I received my first camera when I was a young child.  I was OBSESSED with that blue Fisher-Price camera! My Papa was a huge influencer in my photography.  I loved watching slides and looking through photos he took of my Nana. A part of them will live on forever in photographs, which is something I love about photography.  Connect with Kristin: Website | Wedding Photography Instagram | Newborn Photography Instagram | Personal Instagram About Marketing Magic: The Marketing Magic podcast is where women entrepreneurs trying to do all the things come to get inspiration, business strategy, and on-air coaching on how to get their business noticed and growing. The Modern Therapist's Survival Guide with Curt Widhalm and Katie Vernoy

An interview with Kristin Martinez, LMFT, about how trauma informed practices apply to the workplace. Curt and Katie talk with Kristin about her person-centered management, the benefits of treating employees well, and the risks of managing individuals as though they were cogs in a machine. It’s time to reimagine therapy and what it means to be a therapist. We are human beings who can now present ourselves as whole people, with authenticity, purpose, and connection. Especially now, when therapists must develop a personal brand to market their practices. To support you as a whole person and a therapist, your hosts, Curt Widhalm and Katie Vernoy talk about how to approach the role of therapist in the modern age. Interview with Kristin Martinez, LMFT Kristin Martinez is a licensed therapist who developed a process of management coined: Person Centered Management.  She developed Person Centered Management through her own experience and expertise in trauma informed psychotherapy and being a leader in several organizations. Since then, she's set up her own business as a Pinterest VA and now helps others work remotely too. You'll love that story. We also chat about... Her money journey Tips to make money online blogging Pinterest design tips How Kristin got started as a Pinterest VA Becoming a Pinterest VA as a side hustle Enjoy this chat with Kristin, and please subscribe to us in iTunes if you enjoyed it! Show notes and links from today's episode Become a Pinterest VA Kristin's blog: Believe in a Budget Gold City Ventures (J's Blogging Course) Key takeaways from our chat with Kristin 1 - You can make good money blogging On her 4th month blogging, Kristin made her first $60. At month 10, she was making $4,000 per month. Using spreadsheets and planning, she figured out how much she needed to make so she could leave her job and it's now been 6 years since she quit. Through trial and error, she's learnt the basics of blogging. She realised her income did not rely on how many blog posts she was publishing a week, but more on putting time in the appropriate place: affiliate income, personal products and a lot of experimenting. 2 - Using Pinterest to boost blog traffic Kristin had no experience with social media, but once she discovered Pinterest and started using it, she immediately saw a boost in her blog traffic. She attributes Pinterest as the best way to grow website traffic. Her tips include making sure pins are tall and skinny, making sure colors are light and bright and that pins cover beginner topics such as budgeting and saving. Experimenting with different pin designs is a good way to make sure your blog post gets noticed. 3 - How you can become a Pinterest VA From her Pinterest success, Kristin published a case study showing how much Pinterest boosted her blog. From there, bloggers reached out to her for help with their own Pinterest. She quickly had an entire schedule of clients who hired her to work on their Pinterest. This led to the creation of 'Becoming a Pinterest VA' course that now helps other freelancers make money with Pinterest clients. Questions? Like or dislike? Leave us a comment! When was the last time you decided to quite all the voices and just focus on your desire to create art? Is it hard for you to carve out the time in your life or have you found the right formula to make it work? Wherever you are at in your journey, I know you’ll appreciate hearing from the amazing Jacksonville based artist - Kristin Cronic. In our conversation, Kristin opens up about how she got started as an artist, what it was like navigating life as a Navy officer, how she recovered when her whole world was flipped upside down, and so much more. Don’t forget to check out images of Kristin’s artwork located at the end of this post. Paint on the floor and permission to create art Do you remember when you were first given permission to paint? Remember the joy you had? What happened to that joy? Have you fanned those flames over the years or are you just now starting to re-light the fire? Kristin Cronic looks back to the early years of her life when her mother would allow her to paint and explore to heart's content. Her mother still has a paint-covered floor in her room at that house to this day! Kristin also received early encouragement from her aunt, Kathy Strauss who is also an artist. Surviving a hurricane Several years ago in 2017, Hurricane Irma struck the Florida coast, the Florida Keys, and the Caribbean. Irma also happened to strike just as Kristin and her family were planning a major shift in their lives - Kristin was resigning from the Navy to pursue her career in art. Also - Kristin was six weeks pregnant with their second child. As crazy as that time was, thankfully, Kristin and her family made it through the whole ordeal safely. In the ensuing months, Kristin and her family went to work picking up the pieces as they began to rebuild. Two months after the chaos - Kristin started to really struggle with all the challenges that were building up. Thankfully, her husband stepped in with some helpful advice. Follow your gut In the middle of trying to bring order to chaos, Kristin followed her husband’s advice, and she started painting again. He knew, even when she had forgotten that taking the time to create art would help her find peace. It’s wonderful when you have people in your corner who help you follow your gut even when you can’t hear it speaking up! As Kristin started to follow her gut and get back into what brought her joy, she found herself struggling with a direction. Listening to the Savvy Painter podcast helped Kristin reconnect with her inner artist and begin the path toward creating art again. Listening to the podcast wasn’t the silver bullet for Kristin, she also reached out to a local artist, and she enrolled in the Savvy Painter Growth Studio. It’s never too late Hopefully, you’ll find Kristin’s powerful story of finding her way and following her gut inspiring - I know I did! What I want artists like you to know is this; it’s never too late. You aren’t too old or too out of touch with the art community. No excuse is big enough to keep you from creating art. The world needs your story and your art just as much as it needs Kristin’s! I’m so encouraged that this podcast and the community we’ve built has helped artists like Kristin find their way. Please, continue offering your feedback and your insights as we continue to work together to create something meaningful in this space. "We talk so much about the physical changes — but I wish we talked more about the emotional pieces in pregnancy." Welcome to the first episode in a 10-part Motherhood Mondays series on the Ali on the Run Show. The minute I found out I was pregnant in February 2018, my brain was consumed with all things pregnancy, childbirth, and Buy Buy Baby coupons. But once I gave birth, my world was rocked. I'd prepared for pregnancy, but had no idea what I was in for when it came to new motherhood. The breastfeeding, the hormones, the hair loss, the sleep deprivation — all things people had told me about, but that I don't think I ever could have fully prepared for. And so I struggled — hard. I've been at this new mom thing for six months now, and while I'm no expert, many of the guests on this series are. This series is all about new motherhood: the struggles, the intensity, the big wins, and little victories. It's a judgment-free, no-such-thing-as-TMI look at survival mode, thriving mode, and everything in between.  First up: Kristin Mallon, a board certified nurse midwife and founder of Integrative Obstetrics in Jersey City, NJ, who has delivered more than 4,000 babies in her 16 years of experience. Kristin is a mom of four and a four-time marathoner — and she was my midwife! I had an amazing pregnancy and delivery under Kristin's care, and I'm thrilled to welcome her to the show.  Thank you to Sweaty Betty for sponsoring Motherhood Mondays on the Ali on the Run Show! Kristin Booker is a writer, blogger, and the creator of the site Fashion.Style.Beauty. Kristin has crafted stories for Marie Claire, ELLE, Refinery29, Lucky, xoJane, xoVain, and Yahoo Beauty, among others. I got to meet Kristin when she interviewed me for a piece on Self.com. Since then, it’s been amazing to get to know her and watch her flourish in so many ways!    In this episode, Kristin is so brave and vulnerable in sharing her experiences, from early alcohol abuse, sexual assault, eating disorders, and her struggle to find a place in the world. Kristin’s journey is an inspiration, and the things that she’s accomplished in her fiercely authentic journey to self-actualization prove that it is possible for all of us to create a life that we love!    Kristin’s relationship with her body is at the core of her journey, and throughout the years she’s had ups and downs, just like all of us. When her doctor gave her a very loving, direct wake-up call a few years ago, Kristin embarked on the next chapter of her journey: weight loss, in the name of her health.     So often in the body positive community, it can feel like we’re being torn between two extremes: dieting, weight loss, “all or nothing” thinking, and permission to be whatever size, eating whatever foods, and doing whatever exercise with no regard for our health. But the truth is that there is a middle ground. Kristin proves this, by sharing the very integrated ways in which her pursuit of health, and self actualization, has lead her to a very body positive mentality. She has reconciled weight loss with also loving her body, and accepting it as it is.     Key takeaways:    Kristin’s early life, which includes some tough stuff like alcohol abuse, sexual abuse, sexual assault, and feeling like she didn’t fit in as a creative  Kristin’s journey to find a place for herself professionally where she can use both her creative and her business brain  Kristin’s relationship with her body over the years, from extreme deprivation and an eating disorder, to dire health consequences in her later life  How Kristin got her start as a freelance writer, and what lead her to create Fashion.Style.Beauty  Kristin’s big break as a writer with SheFinds.com  Kristin’s wake up call with her health  How Kristin has come full circle to a body positive mindset, as someone who also lost weight and transformed her health  The importance of carving out your own definition of health, and how Kristin stays balanced in a world of extremes!    Mentioned in this episode:    Fashion.Style.Beauty  The forthcoming Fashion.Style.Beauty podcast, coming November 27th!  Kristin’s piece on me and several other models for Self.com  SheFinds.com  Kristin’s blog   Kristin’s Instagram    Share the Body Love!    Share what you learned here via Facebook, Instagram, Pinterest, or Twitter    Subscribe on iTunes and leave a review.
