This show toes the line with humor and heart, because there are some incredibly funny bits. Some scenes are very hard to watch, but James Gunn strikes a balance between ridiculous and serious. Peacemaker is still cleaning up from his super fun adult time and altercation with his alternate universal self. The 11th St Gang have the most odd kickback ever. Tim Meadows is still the goat of deadpan comedy!www.theuponfurtherreview.comIG: theuponfurtherreviewFB: The Upon Further ReviewTikTok: theuponfurtherreview#peacemaker #johncena #jamesgunn

Alien: Earth & Peacemaker S2 We're cracking the whip again for another episode of TPToA's TV round-up! This time we're rounding up superheroes (or superhero-adjacent guys) and Xenomorphs! It's Alien: Earth and the second Season of Peacemaker! In the new DCU no-one can hear you scream, but they can judge your dancing. Alien: Earth is the new ongoing series from Noah Hawley (Legion, Fargo) and it follows a crashed spaceship spilling forth it's deadly cargo of alien threats. Peacemaker season 2 is technically a part of James Gunn's new DC Universe, and it is taking no prisoners in distancing itself from the previous iteration of reality. Are either of them any good? Well, it's you chance to find out! The whole team is in for the episode, Jill, Dion and Quinny gleefully revelling in the blood soaked off world horror, though Peta remains staunch on her "No scary Aliens" position...and who can blame her? Synopsis Alien: Earth When a mysterious space vessel crash-lands on Earth, a young woman and a ragtag group of tactical soldiers make a fateful discovery that puts them face-to-face with the planet's greatest threat. Synopsis Peacemaker S2 In season 2, Peacemaker discovers an alternate world where life is everything he wishes it could be. But this discovery also forces him to face his traumatic past and take the future into his own hands. https://youtu.be/0WswjBQiNR8 A huge thank you to all our Lost boys and girls who listen avidly to each show, joining in on the live-chat during the Twitch stream this week (and every week!). Grab Our New Peacemaker Inspired Tee https://www.rejectnationshop.com/ With James Gunn's Superman Streaming NOW & Peacemaker Season 2 dropping new episodes weekly, Andrew & Tara RETURN to Task Force X to give their The Suicide Squad Reaction, Recap, Commentary, Analysis, Breakdown, & Spoiler Review!! James Gunn's The Suicide Squad (2021) explodes onto the screen with his signature mix of chaotic humor, ultra-violence, and heart, delivering one of the wildest rides in the DCEU. A standalone sequel to David Ayer's 2016 Suicide Squad, this film follows Task Force X as Amanda Waller (Viola Davis, How to Get Away with Murder, Fences) assembles a team of supervillains for a near-suicide mission on the island nation of Corto Maltese. Leading the charge is Bloodsport, played by Idris Elba (The Wire, Luther, Pacific Rim), a reluctant antihero who must learn to trust his ragtag squad. Highlights include Harley Quinn's dazzling escape sequence, the bloody beach massacre introduction, the shocking early deaths of several squad members, Peacemaker and Bloodsport's hilarious (and brutal) rivalry, and the insane showdown against the colossal alien kaiju Starro the Conqueror. Blending outrageous comedy with shocking violence and surprising heart, The Suicide Squad has become one of the most beloved DCEU films. We inaugurate (and conclude) our coverage of Senegalese master Ousmane Sembène with a discussion of his 1992 feature Guelwaar, the late filmmaker's only work of the decade. In essence a minor comedy of errors revolving around the misplaced body of a departed community leader and political agitator, Guelwaar transforms several times over into a profound and moving chronicle of national identity, religious conflict, and the material politics required to resist colonial rule. We begin with an explication of Sembène's politics and how his Marxism informs the social milieu of his works. Then, we praise the film's feminism, its many nuanced women characters, and the director's progressive standpoint on sex work . Finally, we relate Sembène's invocation of aid as a tool of imperial oppression to current situations ongoing in Gaza.Get access to all of our premium episodes and bonus content by becoming a Hit Factory Patron for just $5/month.....Our theme song is "Mirror" by Chris Fish
