Logicalis report reveals 51% of CIOs lack access to cybersecurity solutions that fit their business needs

Logicalis, a global technology service provider, reveals new findings from its 2025 Global CIO Report. The research found that over half (51%) of CIOs think they still lack access to cybersecurity solutions that fully fit their business needs. The report - entitled 'Return on Innovation' and based on a survey of 1,000 CIOs across the globe, including Ireland - found that only 58% are fully confident in their ability to identify potential security gaps. A similar proportion (56%) say their security patch system is too complex to manage. Perhaps unsurprisingly, the overwhelming majority of organisations (96%) acknowledge the need for improvements in their security coverage, with 45% requiring significant upgrades. Whilst further improvements and investments are needed, half of respondents admitted that their company has over-invested in security solutions they do not need. Furthermore, 58% of CIOs believe their current security investments fully meet their organisation's needs. Worryingly, the research found that the frequency of cybersecurity attacks is on the rise as more than three quarters (78%) of organisations reported that the volume of cybersecurity breaches has either remained consistent or increased. Some 88% revealed that they had endured a cybersecurity incident in the last 12 months, with malware and ransomware attacks accounting for 42% of these breaches. Meanwhile, 43% of organisations have endured multiple breaches over the past year. Mairead Malone, Country Leader for Ireland, Logicalis UK&I, said: "Organisations face a concerning paradox in cybersecurity investment - they clearly need to invest but, more importantly, they need to identify solutions that adequatelymeet their needs and effectively protect their operations. "While it's clear that threats are mounting, questions are being raised about the effectiveness of security spending and implementation. The fact that the majority of organisations have recently experienced a cybersecurity incident, with some enduring multiple breaches, is alarming. The businesses which fail to address these issues will only leave themselves - and potentially their customers - vulnerable." To help customers in Ireland address such issues, Logicalis will be hosting a roundtable event at The Shelbourne in Dublin on 29th May 2025 to delve into the trends highlighted in the 2025 Global CIO Report. Logicalis 2025 CIO report reveals 95% of CIOs investing in tech to create entirely new revenue streams

Logicalis, the leading global technology service provider, has released its annual CIO Report, which reveals that 95% of CIOs are actively investing in technology to create new revenue streams within the next 12 months. According to the report - which surveyed 1,000 CIOs from across the globe, including Ireland - the CIO role is no longer focused on enablement but on shaping business strategy and driving value, with nearly all CIOs (94%) regularly reporting to the board on return on investment (ROI). This expanded mandate is heightened by the rapid emergence of new technologies. The report found that almost all organisations are exploring how next-generation technologies can specifically support commercial growth. This trend shows no sign of slowing, with Artificial Intelligence (AI - 95%), machine learning capabilities (93%), and Internet of Things (IoT - 89%) initiatives among the most widely adopted emerging technologies over the past 12 months. Realising value from these investments remains a challenge with 85% of CIOs reporting a growing pressure for technology to demonstrate tangible business impact and many (64%) acknowledging that their next-generation technology investments have yet to deliver anticipated returns. As the gap between balancing investments and realised value intensifies, CIOs remain optimistic about the potential of these technologies. Still, most tech leaders (93%) continue to juggle limited time and resources to ensure better business outcomes. As CIOs consider innovations that support future growth, they must continue to navigate business-critical objectives. Despite unprecedented spending on security solutions, 88% experienced cybersecurity incidents in the last 12 months last year, with 43% enduring multiple breaches raising questions about the effectiveness of security spending. One area where they are beginning to see tangible financial results is through the integration of environmental technologies. Nine in ten (91%) CIOs have realised direct commercial benefits, and over half (53%) report these as significant. With a good track record, it is no surprise that those investing in environmental sustainability initiatives have risen from 92% in 2023 to 95% over the past 12 months. On this year's report, Bob Bailkoski, Global CEO of Logicalis Group, said: "For almost every business, technology has become the primary engine of innovation, growth and resilience. With this dependence comes a new expectation of CIOs - they're no longer just enablers of business strategy but drivers of commercial success. Whether through maintaining a keener focus on ROI from next-generation technologies, optimising security spending or maximising the financial benefits of sustainability initiatives, technology leaders need to seek out the right investments and partnerships that can help them deliver on their business goals." While most CIOs are confident that their IT spending is yielding a return, many (91%) believe there is room for improvement. As challenges around complexity, resources and performance visibility remain, the report highlights the importance of fostering strong technology partnerships to help CIOs meet this changing landscape, alleviate pressures and unlock value. Additional findings on innovation 94% agree the CIO role is becoming a key part of shaping business strategy and direction 94% report their organisation is exploring how next-generation technology can support their commercial growth 94% of CIOs are actively seeking opportunities to incorporate AI into their business, compared to 89% last year 86% report growing pressure within their organisation to ensure ROI from AI Additional findings on sustainability 95% say their organisation is increasing their investment in environmental sustainability initiatives and/or technologies, compared to 92% last year 94% think IT is core to the success of their organisation's sustainability goals, compared to 93% last year 93% report their organisation se...

Sustainable impact requires radical change in the world of business

Guest post by Neil Eke, CEO of Logicalis UK and Ireland Climate change is one of the most important and widely discussed issues of our time. Yet, when it comes to identifying and implementing actual changes to help organisations be more sustainable, boardrooms can fall silent. This could be due to the fact that some aren't exactly sure where to start or their efforts are being stifled due to obstacles or challenges. Then again, they might be taking steps but are afraid of being accused of greenwashing, taking shortcuts (via offsetting for example), or not doing enough. In particular, companies within the IT sector face a unique challenge in terms of getting the balance right. On the one hand, they enable sustainability efforts through measurement and digitisation. On the other, they are the worst culprits for having high energy consumption, using new equipment, and producing e-waste. The reality is all businesses need to make sustainability a top priority. They need to openly discuss it, take immediate action and drive radical change. With prospective customers and employees asking about green credentials, it's not just the planet that depends on their efforts but the future of their business too. In the red In terms of the resources that the planet has to offer, the human race is most certainly in the red - with the tech sector arguably having the biggest role to play in both reducing its impact and helping other industries to reach their sustainability goals. As the population continues to rise and if efforts to reach climate targets fall short, the situation will only become more critical. According to the IEA Electricity 2024 report, power generation is currently the largest source of carbon dioxide emissions in the world. World Electricity Demand is expected to grow at a 3.4% CAAGR (Compound Annual Growth Rate) over the next three years. Research (The Global E-Waste Monitor 2024) has forecast that global e-waste will rise to 75 million tonnes by 2030, which is almost double the amount of e-waste produced in 2014. The list of statistics goes on. As if that's not reason enough to act on sustainability, organisations are facing increasing regulatory and reporting requirements such as the Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive (CSRD). Meanwhile, prospective customers and tender requests are asking providers about things such as PCF (Product Carbon Footprint) in order to aid their decision-making processes. Providers therefore need to tailor their offerings and adapt their operations to measure their footprint, reduce their impact, meet regulations, and better align with what customers are looking for. As sustainability becomes more integrated into business operations across all industries, going green is necessary - not just desirable. Going green On a positive note, initial steps are being taken. According to our Logicalis 2024 CIO survey (involving 1,000 CIOs across the globe), 96% of tech leaders are already involved in their company's overall sustainability planning and target setting, and 93% believe IT is core to successfully delivering on their organisation's environmental objectives. So, tech leaders know investment and innovation through technology is needed to meet carbon goals. The other element that is required is collaboration, followed by a commitment to measurement and management. Data is critical as what gets measured gets managed. Factors like carbon emissions and energy consumption need to be measured and monitored to enable continuous goal setting and reporting. Educating all levels of the company, including leadership, is crucial to driving sustainable transformation. So too is the alignment of technology with sustainability and business strategy. After all, there are lots of ways in which technology can support green efforts, from refreshing IT networks to installing smart power monitors. Of course, Sustainability management isn't just about your own products, processes and practices, there is a ...

B2B's hard new playbook: Don't bet everything on chasing marketing qualified leads – most buyers call you and have already made their choice when they do

The B2B world is a market where you don't call customers, customers call you - although it's the opposite of widespread B2B marketing assumptions and practice today. A B2B awakening is underway as business marketers see increasing evidence that an under-investment in B2B brand work leads to a sea of sameness and mediocre results among buyers – across most industry sectors, many feel there is little supplier differentiation, limiting the likelihood you'll receive that all-important first call.  But if the phone does ring from a buyer, the latest round of research across Asia Pacific says you're overwhelmingly likely to land the deal, irrespective of the sales teams prowess.  Sameness leads to nothingness and a B2B marketing strategy that prioritises marketing qualified leads (MQLs) over all else comes with serious limitations, according to this week's guests. Instead, the brand signals you send out “need to align with how modern customers research and purchase, particularly in complex B2B environments where decision making often involves multiple stakeholders,” says Sophie Neate, Global Head of Digital Marketing & Content for industrial giant ABB. When making the case internally for change, however, don't underestimate the support from sales teams, says Lara Barnet, the Head of Marketing in Australia for the global technology-managed service provider Logicalis.  “Sellers face that problem more than anyone else,” she says. “They're on the front line, they're the ones picking up the phone and talking to customers. They face this all the time.” The broader growth in influence of buying committees necessarily lessens the influence of a single C-Suite decision maker, and that influence wanes further as the size of the buying committee scales along with the value of the opportunity. An MQL led approach also fails to recognise that customers, not sellers, control the product research agenda and most of those are invisible until they choose to turn public. By then, says the boss of B2B agency Green Hat, Stuart Jaffray, it's likely too late - they have mostly made their decision.See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

This podcast interview focuses on the entrepreneurial journey to make social a positive place again - for everyone. My guest is Matthew McGrory, CEO of Arwen AI. Matthew is a tech- entrepreneur on a big mission. He has held tech leadership roles: IT Director at Logicalis, Director Managed Services at Acora, and Managing Director at Carrenza (a cloud service provider acquired by Six Degrees Group),  In the period from July 2018 and September 2020 he took a break from his corporate life to become a House Husband. In that period he developed a passion for using AI to drive positive change. That led him to cofound Arwen AI in September 2020. Arwen AI is a platform that helps its customers actively moderate and manage their community, across both paid and organic. Their mission: to make social media a more positive place by filtering out hate speech and toxicity.  And this inspired me, and hence I invited Matthew to my podcast. We explore what's broken in today's Social Media world. Matthew shares his vision to make Social a place without toxicity and spam. He then elaborates on his hard-won lessons from his journey to speed up direct sales and benefit from using ecosystems to grow even faster. Last but not least, he shares his framework to increase resilience across the organization.  Here's one of his quotes I thought, 'This is great, we'll create some technology, fix the problem and everyone will buy it.' I was so wrong on that part. I got to about demo number 200, it was with a US broadcast news organization. And the head of digital said, 'Listen, I'm protected by the First Amendment, I can let anything go up on my channels. I don't have to get rid of it. You're giving me an extra job to do. An extra cost. Tell me why this is valuable to my business. Tell me how it makes me money or saves me money.' During this interview, you will learn four things: How he gained traction in a market where customers resisted to buy because they saw the solution as an extra job and an extra cost.  What he did differently to gain technical and commercial momentum. What he invested in early on to get access to strategic accounts and speed up the commercial contracting process in enterprise sales situations. How he goes about to keep the business humming, and keeping everyone aligned and motivated - especially in tough times. In this episode of The 5G Factor, our series that focuses on all things 5G, the IoT, and the 5G ecosystem as a whole, we review new private 5G (P5G) ecosystem advances including Cisco's collaboration with Augmentir, Nokia, and Logicalis to boost adoption of the Cisco Mobility Services Platform across enterprises, Tesla building its P5G network at its Berlin gigafactory, and Verizon completing the first phase of certifying Nokia's DAC for the Verizon Business Private 5G Network portfolio. Our analytical review spotlighted: Cisco Private 5G Ecosystem Credentials Wax. At the recent Hanover Messe 2024 global trade fair, Cisco's Next-Gen Workforce Collaboration with Cisco Private 5G proposition stood out. We address why focusing on how Cisco understands that ecosystem-wide collaboration is needed to advance private 5G implementations. Cisco is working with Augmentir, Nokia and Logicalis in bolstering the Cisco Mobility Services Platform's deployment flexibility though increasing the value of mobile services by making them more accessible and programmable. The platform combines Augmentir, Cisco Webex Expert on Demand, and Cisco Private 5G to redefine automation and workforce efficiency in industrial operations. The platform also reinforces Cisco's commitment to fulfill enterprise digital transformation objectives by delivering simple, unified solutions that provide secure connectivity and supporting value-added services for people, places, and things.  Tesla Jumps on the P5G Bandwagon. Tesla indicated it had constructed a private 5G network at its gigafactory in Berlin with plans to deploy the technology worldwide. The P5G network can work indoors and outdoors with the outdoor coverage enabling Tesla to update hundreds of cars outside avoiding the need to run and power to outdoor locations. We assess why Tesla's ongoing plans to build out P5G provides a high-profile market bump for the technology.  Verizon has completed the first phase of certification to add Nokia Digital Automation Cloud (DAC) to its list of supported offerings in private networks that use Verizon's licensed spectrum. Upon addition to its portfolio, Nokia DAC would expand Verizon Business' hardware and software options available to customers of Verizon Business' Private 5G Network offering. The Nokia DAC platform will also be used to enhance indoor coverage for Verizon consumers and enterprise customers. We examine why Nokia's DAC is well-suited to help spur adoption of private wireless connectivity and operational technology needs across industrial sectors such as manufacturing, logistics, ports, airports, utilities, mining, and agriculture.

Diversity is critical to a company's success, but inclusion highlights the strengths and abilities that ALL employees bring to the workplace. With employers launching or implementing diversity inclusion initiatives, it is apparent that diversity and inclusion are important for businesses and essential to develop a robust talent pipeline. Including veterans as a part of the talent pipeline is a measure of championing diversity of thought, experience and perspectives. As nearly 200,000 servicemen and women returned to civilian life each year, Inclusive Enterprise podcast wanted to know what organizations are doing to proactively embrace, attract, hire, and retain veteran employees.Three organizations enabling veterans to successfully transition from uniform to the workplace include The United States Department of Veterans Affairs – the VA, USVETS - a national advocacy organization, and  Logicalis - an information and communications technology infrastructure and service provider and a significant employer of Veterans.  All three are in different stages of their diversity equity and inclusion strategic journeys with efforts that positively impact veterans, businesses and the communities they serve. Our guests include Mr. Harvey W. Johnson, Deputy Assistant Secretary, Resolution Management, Diversity and inclusion for the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs. Mr. Darryl J. Vincent, Chief Operating Officer at USVets, United States Veterans initiative, and Captain Ed Graves of the US Air Force, Manager at Logicalis, US and President of the Logicalis' largest employee resource group, the Military Personnel Employee Resource Group (MPERG) which includes those who currently serve or who have ever served in the United States Army, Navy, Air Force, Marine Corps, or Coast Guard, and now Spaceforce, whether on active duty, or in the National Guard, or military reserves. The global protests over the unjust killing of George Floyd in 2020, as well as other black citizens, forced a reckoning among American businesses that more had to be done to take on systemic racism. Following his death, corporate america spoke out against racism, police brutality, and many companies made promises to reform their practices or to invest in efforts to fight racism in the community. We asked our three distinguished leaders who are dedicated to veterans inclusion in the workplace, to share their experiences and insights.

Diva Tech Talk was honored to be onsite at one of the largest Midwestern offices for Logicalis U.S., during its recent GIRLS IN TECHNOLOGY DAY. Logicalis (www.us.logicalis.com) is an international information technology solutions and managed services provider that designs, builds and supports enterprise solutions for customers throughout Europe, North and South America, and Asia Pacific.  Logicalis entertained 56 high school and early college girls, offering tailored discussions of practical topics related to succeeding in a technology career. Horizon-broadening sessions covered topics as diverse as: uncovering what you are good at, communicating with confidence, the wide variety of career options in the technology field, how to use social media to build your personal brand, how to ace a job interview, and how to write an excellent resume. Logicalis supports an internal group dedicated to fostering the missions of its own women employees.  Two of the veteran leaders of that group (Logicalis Vice Presidents, Renae Johnson and Julie Spiller) were in the cohort interviewed during this podcast.   Ghazal Asif, Director of Global Channels of Cisco Meraki, was also a key participant in the day. Ghazal was enthusiastic about having the chance to be one of the main keynote speakers since “the idea of women having equal opportunity is very near and dear to my heart.” She spoke eloquently about the need to be fearless in the face of any setback, or any opportunity. “If we look at the data and the stats, it is sad to see that over the last couple of decades, we haven’t made much progress” in diversity building, she said. “Yet, as of today, there’s more awareness, more research on why diversity and inclusion is so good for companies. In every industry, across every function, women are under-represented. More women should step forward so that in 10 or 20 years from now, we can look back and say ‘we made a difference and we changed some of those stats’ for the next generation, and generations to come.” Finally, Vince DeLuca, CEO of Logicalis, took time to present to this audience because “these young ladies are our future.”  DeLuca was encouraged by his interactions with the girls and women.  “Knowing that they have interest in technology is really important,” he said.  “I also think that overall diversity in the field is wildly important to our (Logicalis) success. When we have a male-dominated organization, with just male leaders, we don’t enough of a flow of ideas.”   DeLuca really enjoyed his event participation.  “To see the amount of interest, the general attention of these young ladies is really rewarding.  The benefit that I get out of this would be seeing every one of these folks succeed in their own passion.   I may not get to see that individually, but as a group I think they will do that; and that, to me, is the best reward that I could ever get.” DeLuca waxed philosophical about how the overall education of our youth can be helped by everyone in their environment. “We live in such an interesting world right now.  I think, as a society, we need to do a better job educating everyone about what’s happening out there,” he said. DeLuca sees some key tech trends that can help with this.  “Collaboration has to be near the top,” he said. “There’s so many ways to connect vast amounts of resource groups or information.”   DeLuca is proud that community-building is part of the Logicalis culture. “Giving back to the communities we serve is a core value, across all our offices,” he said. “It’s so important to us, not just to reap the benefit of what we are trying to do with our customers, but making an impact into the community.” Make sure to check us out on online at www.divatechtalk.com onTwitter @divatechtalks, on Facebook at https://www.facebook.com/divatechalk.

Healthcare Tech Talk- Exploring how technology can help meet the challenges in Healthcare.

The use of Big Data in healthcare is the hot topic, but experts estimate that less than 6% of all organizations have a successful implementation.  With typical implementations requiring substantial investment and challenging support requirements, many Healthcare organizations see Big Data out of their reach.  Ed Simcox, United States Healthcare Practice Leader for Logicalis, joins us to discuss how some organizations are tackling this challenge. Talking through managing change in organizations large and small, as well as the changing face of the information technology scene in metro Detroit from multiple points of view, this was a really good set of conversations over the course of the night that provided some interesting insights into the area and what companies are dealing with these days... IT in the D, Episode 55, and a really solid episode tonight. Kind of rushing this recap in an effort to get the broadcast out quickly so that people can hear about the Hatch Detroit finalists in time for voting...so forgive the lack of links to the news articles we discussed, but time is of the essence on this one... Okay, so quick recap: Newco is an "open" style conference taking place on Thursday, September 18th, and you can read all about the companies involved as well as registering for their free day of events at http://det.newco.co/ The four Hatch Detroit finalists are: Cockadoodle is a full-service breakfast and lunch concept planned for the Avenue of Fashion that embodies the values of farm-freshness, genuine hospitality, quality standards and community honor. Gabriel Hall plans to be a live entertainment bar & restaurant which celebrates the rich New Orleans-Detroit connection. It features an authentic Creole menu and signature drinks. Sister Pie is a bakery opening in the West Village and Parker & Kercheval. They aim to celebrate the seasons through pie, to provide consistently delicious, thoughtful and inventive food, and to foster a welcoming and open environment for both employees and customers. Third Wave Music is an instrument retail store concept that plans to sell new and used instruments, provide lessons and operate a repair facility. It aims to become a community space for Detroit musicians. Great information from all four of the finalists, and you really need to listen in, hear what they had to say, and then get out and vote.  You can vote on the Hatch Detroit website at http://hatchdetroit.com/, or at their in-person voting event today (Tuesday), the last in-person voting opportunity. The final event is Wednesday night, the Hatch Off, where the winner will be announced after presentations from the finalists and a final round of voting by the judges. Details, voting, and everything else can be found at http://hatchdetroit.com/ [soundcloud url="https://api.soundcloud.com/tracks/163778955" params="color=ff5500&auto_play=false&hide_related=false&show_comments=true&show_user=true&show_reposts=false" width="100%" height="166" iframe="true" /] As always, a hat tip out to our show sponsor, Logicalis.  They've been around our events for a while now, but they've stepped up huge to become a sponsor of our efforts, and so expect to hear us talk about them and give them a ton of love in the coming weeks. IT in the D, Episode 54, and yes, we were complete idiots and drove downtown in the midst of flooded roads, crazy rain, dead and abandoned cars, and mass hysteria for this one. Unfortunately, Jeff got trapped somewhere around I-75 and 12 mile and couldn't get any further.  However, we picked up a spare guest at Third Street before heading over to the studio, so we had a great show with some fun conversations.  And since we checking our phones and news updates let us know we weren't going anywhere any time soon, we hung out for a while and just kept recording. Which went probably like you're assuming it did... We were joined in studio by our guests, who were equally insane enough to brave the weather and come on out to play, returning guest Billy Strawter from Social Coop Media and newcomer Joanna Dueweke from, among other things, Awesome Mitten. Brightwing - http://www.gobrightwing.com/ - was also a sponsor back on 3/13/13, and had a great group of folks there last night as well.  Additionally, Russ Dotson has been a crucial part of our Support The Troops activities over the past few years, and was a guest on our very first installment of the IT in the D show.  You can listen to that episode here - http://www.ITinTheD.com/listen/it-in-the-d-show-archives/episode-1-june-03-2013/, and then another when April and Elyse popped in over at http://www.ITinTheD.com/listen/it-in-the-d-show-archives/episode-8-august-5-2013/ Strategic Staffing Solutions - http://www.strategicstaff.com/ - is a relative newcomer to our events, but that doesn't make us any less grateful or appreciative for their support of what we do.  They're based downtown right off Campus Martius, and even though you don't hear as much about them as you do some of the other companies that are located in that same circle, they're doing really great things and always looking for great people. Logicalis - http://www.us.logicalis.com/ - is also fairly new to our events, but they're getting more engaged ever since a long-time member of ours who has been coming to our events for quite some time took a job there earlier this year.  They specialize in global virtualization solutions, and have some really cool offerings.  They're also looking for some bright minds to join their team, so give them a look and keep them in mind. MEDC - http://www.michiganbusiness.org/ - we do a lot with MEDC, not necessarily as a part of "ITinTheD.org events", but Bob and I have spoken at a number of their Shifting Gears classes and really enjoy doing our part to help people in career transition with our 10 Commandments of Networking presentation.  MEDC is far more than just the Shifting Gears program though, and they have a lot of great things going on all across the state in a number of capacities. New Horizons - http://nhgreatlakes.com/ - has been coming to our events forever, and they've helped literally hundreds of our folks find grant funding for training classes.  So it wasn't really a surprise that they wanted to get involved, and they did so in a great way - one attendee at our event last night is now the winner of a free technical training class!  Want to find out if you're the winner?  Listen to our IT in the D show live on Monday night as they'll be in-studio with us to make the announcement.
