Hi Guys, welcome back to TV Reload. Thank you for clicking or downloading on today’s episode with Kelsey Munroe the creator of Bump. Which has its final season now available on Stan Australia. I have been such a big fan of Bump right from the start. I originally thought it was going to be ‘quite different’ to the previous collaborations of John and Dan Edwards with Claudia Karvan. Growing up with Secret Life of Us and Love My Way. I was use to a particular tone but I quite quickly realised that Bump had every single aspect of their extraordinary vision and Kelsey had brought them an idea that would keep us as adduce inthralled for 5 seasons. Something very rare in Australia. Kelsey will unpack the way in which she found herself leaping from journalist to TV content creation. We chat about her relationship with Claudia Karvan and how they shared very similar ideas on humour. I find out what it was like to bring Nathalie Morris the actress who plays Oly into the writers room. You will get everything from how she feels about this being the final series, what moment offered her closure and what is next moving forward. There is so much to talk about with so many inside revelations. So sit back and relax as we unpack the wonderful world of Bump. See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.
Claudia Karvan is one of Australia’s most respected and acclaimed film and television actors. She’s been acting since she was 10, and producing and creating TV shows since her early 30s. If you think back to some of Australia’s most iconic TV shows and movies, there’s a good chance Claudia was in them. From The Secret Life of Us to Love My Way to The Heartbreak Kid to Spirited and now Bump. Claudia has had some incredibly noteworthy moments in her career, and today on Something To Talk About, she joins Sarrah to discuss them all. Bump's final season will premiere December 26th, only on Stan. Something To Talk About is a podcast by Stellar, hosted by Editor-In-Chief Sarrah Le Marquand. A (relatively) in-depth analysis of the song Love My Way (and The Psychedelic Furs) in (just under) fifteen minutes. The Psychedelic Furs formed in London in 1977. Led by vocalist Richard Butler and his brother Tim on bass, they are one of the many acts spawned from the British post-punk scene. The band had several hits in their early career. Pretty in Pink was originally released in 1981 as a single from their second album, Talk Talk Talk. John Hughes' 1986 film was named after the song and a re-recorded version of the song was included on its soundtrack.Love My Way was released in 1982 as the first single from their third album Forever Now. Written by the group and produced by Todd Rundgren, who also played marimba, the song featured backing vocals from Flo & Eddie (Mark Volman and Howard Kaylan of The Turtles). Although it scraped into the top 50 in the UK Singles Chart, Love My Way was featured in the 1983 film Valley Girl.It also appears on the soundtracks of the 1998 film The Wedding Singer and the 2006 film Starter for 10. After it was heard in the 2017 film Call Me by Your Name, the song enjoyed a surge in streaming popularity. It was also featured in the video game Grand Theft Auto: Vice City.In this episode I am in discussion with Dr. Andrew Webber.I hope you enjoy the podcast and please do leave feedback if you like what you you have heard.Mathew Woodall
Hi Guys, welcome back to TV Reload. Thank you for clicking or downloading on today's episode with Brendan Cowell from Plum which has been a show I have been waiting all year to see. Brendan Cowell was an actor I first came across with the series Love My Way and if you have been with me for a long time listing to this podcast you may know it is my favourite Australian drama ever made. Brendan not only stars in Plum but it is based on a book he wrote. Brendan will talk about how he got started in the industry and what he remembers about Love My Way. We talk about how Brendan was passed over on Secret Life of Us but how his journey with the John Edwards has led him back to Asher Keddie. I will discuss the hurdles and if there was any push back from the Cronulla Sharks. You will get everything from why Brendan explores the Aussie man, his ability to create authentic Australian stories and if he knew the book Plum would be made into a TV series. There is so much to talk about with so many inside revelations. So sit back and relax as we unpack the wonderful world of Plum which h launches this Sunday night on the ABC! Many of us have grown up with Claudia Karvan. She's been on our screens since she was 10 years old, starring in films like The Big Steal and The Heartbreak Kid. And we've fallen in love with her on the small screen, in her long running roles on The Secret Life of Us and Love My Way. These days, Claudia is not only an actor but a hugely successful producer behind TV shows like Doctor Doctor and Bump.Through all she does there is a great sense of optimism, so I gave her the theme of hope. And from John & Yoko to The Velvets to BARKAA, she confirmed once again why she is universally loved.John Lennon – ‘Hold On'Ibrahim Ferrer – ‘Marieta'The Velvet Underground – ‘I'm Sticking With You'BARKAA – ‘We Up'Sinéad O'Connor – ‘Thank You for Hearing Me'

When magazine-features-writer Birdie Bell meets successful grazier Joe Burt on a dating app she believes she's found her perfect match but as the relationship intensifies Birdie begins to feel her boyfriend isn't all he has led her to believe. The scary fact is that men in the real world are doing this everyday and sadly this is becoming a common story. This series is based on a book by author Stephanie Wood and the way in which the show unpacks psychological fantastic is ground breaking work for the team of content creators that bring this series to life. We will unpack the obsession of True Crime, what this says about us and why audiences now demand smarter scripted drama! There is an opportunity to talk with Asher about her roles on Offspring and Love My Way and David will reveal a shocking truth about his on-screen roles. Which is fascinating to hear - considering his filmography. You will find out if there will be a second series of Fake… We will talk about the laws that need to be implemented on falsifying and manipulating people in the dating world. There is so much to talk about with Asher and David. So sit back and relax as we unpack the complicated world of Fake now on Paramount +! See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

For the past two decades, Asher Keddie has been a reliable presence in living rooms across the country - and one of the most popular actors of her generation. But despite her success - or, perhaps, because of it - she did not always feel at ease with her fame. In this episode of Something To Talk About, Asher sits down for a reflective chat as she looks back on the dizzying yet disconcerting experience of becoming a household name thanks to her starring roles in the hit TV series Love My Way and Offspring and explains how, in her mid-forties, she finally began to enjoy the fruits of her labours. She also discusses her role on the new comedy drama Strife, her marriage to artist Vincent Fantauzzo and - as she looks ahead to turning 50 next year - the bittersweet perspective she has on being an “older mother” to an eight-year-old son. Every episode of Strife will be available exclusively on Binge from December 6. A special episode of the STAGES podcast - a Mother's Day focus with two of our favourite Mother/Daughter acting pairs - Belinda Giblin and Romy Bartz. Many women have followed their Mums into the precarious vocation that is the stage and screen. Whilst being witness to the challenge and triumph of such a career, it has not stopped them following in Mother's footsteps - chasing the dream, telling stories and embracing a wondrous profession. For many showbiz families, it is the family business; and we are aware of the dynasties who have made Acting their focus across several generations. Some who trod the boards, are the ‘black sheep' of the family, who find their way without a single member guiding the way. So what are the challenges, or the advances, if any, of having your Mum lead the way. Belinda and Romy offer a unique insight and allow us to celebrate their significant talents. Belinda Giblin is one of Australia's most distinguished stage and screen actors. Her most recent theatre credits include “Amadeus” alongside Michael Sheen, and Melissa Bubnic's “Ghosting the Party” (Griffin Theatre). Other recent credits include “Blonde Poison” (Old Fitz, SOH, Southbank) “Doubt” (Old Fitz) Samuel Beckett's “Happy Days”(Old Fitz) for all of which she was nominated for Best Actress in an Independent production by the Sydney Theatre Critics' Circle Awards. On television Belinda has had regular roles in the series “Home and Away”; “Sons and Daughters”; “Heartbreak High”; “The Sullivans”; and “The Box “. Film credits include “ Peterson”, “Say you Want Me” for which she won a Sammy award, and an award winning short film “Stille Nacht”. Belinda appeared in an Independent feature film, “A Stitch in Time”(Sasha Hadden Productions) in 2022. Belinda is presently playing in ‘Suddenly Last Summer' at the Ensemble Theatre. Romy Bartz is an actor and director who graduated from NIDA. Since graduating she has performed in theatre productions such as ‘Hillbilly Thriller', ‘The Moors', ‘Mercury Fur', ‘Slaughterhouse', ‘Bull', ‘Idle Lies', ‘Why Torture is Wrong and the People Who Love Them' and ‘Thank You for Being a Friend'. Romy's television credits include ‘Reef Break', ‘The Politically Incorrect Parenting Show', ‘The Surgeon', ‘Love My Way', ‘Skool Sue', ‘White Collar Blue' and ‘Murder Under the Microscope'.The STAGES podcast is available to access and subscribe from Spotify and Apple podcasts. This chat I am joined by ‘Gretel Vella' who is a Film/Television/Theatre Writer and is the mastermind behind the latest Stan Original series ,'Totally Completely Fine.' The series drops on ‘Stan Australia' this week and this show is a little interesting and we will get into that straight away in the podcast but the series is Inspired by true events, it is a six-part “dark comedy” series led by ‘Thomasin McKenzie' ( who you would know from the popular film ‘JoJo Rabbit') and explores the complexities of grief, the power of friendship, and the ways our sadness can unite us. The series examines family, legacy and ultimately asks: how many lives do we have to save before we'll save ourselves? I want to pre-warn you this conversation does include a lot of discussion around suicide and suicide prevention. However, as the show is a comedy drama I want you to know the show isn't completely gazumpted by the at times bleak subject matter. I will ask ‘Gretel' about the origin of this story and how much is based on real life events. Will talk about the shows in which ‘Gretel' was inspired by. (When you see the show the hero house does straight away give you ‘Love My Way' vibes and I will find out if that was the same location.) ‘Gretel' will also talk about casting 'Thomasin' and why the international actress said yes to being in the series. Plus we will get plenty of exclusives from behind the scenes of 'Totally Completely Fine' which you can now view-up on -on ‘Stan Australia.'See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

In this episode, we sit down with the hilarious Damien Warren-Smith about the art of Clown and his character, Garry Starr. Damien is currently touring his latest production, Garry Starr: Greece Lightning which is coming to Darwin, the International Melbourne Comedy Festival and the Sydney Comedy Festival over the next two months. Damien shares the ins and outs of this unique form of theatre, his training at the École Philippe Gaulier, the creation of a Plague of Idiots, and how performers find their 'clown'. About Damien: Since graduating ACA's 2.5 year program in 2004, Damien has been making a massive name for himself in his sell-out one-man shows, under the comedic alter-ego GARY STARR, touring England and the world. As well as this, Damien landed the role of ‘James' in hit Aussie TV series Love My Way, in which he worked alongside Asher Keddie and Claudia Karvan, as well as working consistently in London and across the UK, on UK's hit TV shows Law & Order: UK, and the BBC's The Persuasionists. Warren made his professional stage debut in a production of Ladies Down Under for the Hull Truck Theatre Company, which led him to being cast in director Sue McCormick's highly acclaimed production of Hamlet at Lancaster Castle. The production was shortlisted for a Peter Brook Empty Space Award in 2008. Damien continued to further his training in 2013 with legendary clown teacher Philippe Gaulier, and then formed the comedy troupe ‘Plague of Idiots', which toured to theatre festivals around the world and eventually Edinburgh Fringe. Claudia Karvan has been a fixture on our screens for the last three decades. We watched her light up the screen on The Big Steal and The Heartbreak Kid, share-housed with her on The Secret Life of Us, and came of age as she did, on Love My Way. When Claudia wasn't acting in some of film and television's biggest moments, she was working behind the scenes as a writer and director, and increasingly has been producing big shows like Bump on Stan. Through all of this, I had a sneaking suspicion Claudia was a big music fan. And that was confirmed when I asked her to Take 5. Having graced our television screens in popular series like Love My Way and The Slap along with roles in worldwide smash hit Game of Thrones and a host of movies, Brendan Cowell is an actor many Australians would be familiar with. He's well-known in writing circles as a novelist as well as an award-winning screenwriter and playwright.A multi-talented artist whose new novel "Plum" has just been published by HarperCollins Australia. An irresistible, eye-opening and raw novel on so many levels. A book that gives readers insight into brain injuries in players of full contact sports like rugby league. So timely and so very topical. . .I was delighted to chat with Brendan on the podcast recently.
Script to Screen is excited to bring you a late-night TALK with award-winning director Jessica Hobbs, in conversation with moderator Rob Sarkies. Jessica started her career in New Zealand and has risen to work on some of our favourite series made in Australia and the United Kingdom. Jessica has directed episodes of The Split, Apple Tree Yard, Broadchurch and most recently multi-award-winning show The Crown. She directed two episodes of Season 3, including the finale starring Olivia Colman and Helena Bonham Carter which was nominated for a Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Directing for a Drama Series. She has gone on to direct three episodes of Season 4 including the finale. Before moving to the UK Jessica was the lead director on the award-winning series The Slap, directed episodes of Rake and Love My Way, and won an Australian Directors Guild Award for her work on Devil's Dust. She was also awarded the Australian Film Institute Award for ABC mini-series, Answered by Fire. In this Script to Screen TALK, Jessica will join us live from London to talk to director Rob Sarkies (The Gulf, Consent, Jean, Two Little Boys, Wanted, Out of the Blue, Scarfies). They will discuss what it is like working on a series drama in the UK right now, her approach to directing, and her ambitions for the future.
Too Close: Emily Watson stars as a forensic psychiatrist who has to assess a woman accused of a heinous crime, who claims she can't remember a thing (UKTV, Mondays). Bump: From the team behind Love My Way comes Bump. The series centres around Oly, an ambitious and high-achieving teenager who has a surprise baby; and the complications that ensue for two families (Monday on Vibe/Sky Go, Neon 13 June) Why Women Kill: A second season of the darkly humorous American series that details the lives of three women living in three different decades: a housewife in the '60s, a socialite in the '80s, and a lawyer in 2019, each dealing with infidelity in their marriages. The series examines how the roles of women have changed, but how their reaction to betrayal has not (TVNZ OnDemand). LISTEN ABOVE

Episode 27 of The Blank Canvas Podcast with Kate Dennis. With today being International Women’s Day, it’s a most appropriate day to release my conversation with the uber talented screen director, Kate Dennis. Starting out as a camera assistant, then focus puller and script supervisor for many years, Kate’s credits include the massive hits films Priscilla Queen of the Desert, Cliffhanger and Babe. In 1996 Kate was offered to direct an episode of the TV series Twisted Tales for producer Bryan Brown, she hasn’t looked back and is now one of the most sought after international screen directors. Kate has set-up seven TV dramas in the US, UK and Australia including HBO’s Run (working with Phoebe Waller-Bridge), Tommy (with Edie Falco), New Amsterdam (which is going strong after 5 seasons); Secrets & Lies (which starred Juliette Lewis & Ryan Phillippe in it’s USA remake) and Australian TV phenomena Offspring, which ran for seven seasons. Kate’s episodic work in the US traverses broad genres from comedy to drama and includes: GLOW, The Tick, Heathers, Strange Angel, Krypton, Damnation, The Mindy Project, Preacher, Turn: Washington’s Spies, Fear of The Walking Dead, Sleepy Hollow and Suits. Her Australian directing work includes: Rake, Miss Fisher’s Murder Mysteries, Rush, The Time of Our Lives, The Secret Life of Us and Love My Way. In 2017, Kate’s episode ‘The Bridge’ from The Handmaid’s Tale, was nominated for an Emmy award for Outstanding Director for a Drama Series. Kate remains a down-to-earth Aussie and makes it her job sound rather simple, however it’s taken decades of hard work in the high pressure hot-seat of directing big-budget series to earn her place at the top. Listen to The Psychedelic Furs and you'll be hooked. The band is fronted by the voice of Richard Butler, one of a kind. Tracks like Pretty in Pink, Sister Europe and Love My Way were at the heart of the post-punk/New Wave sound. Check out their latest album, Made of Rain, released last year. I first met the band when they opened for Talking Heads. At the time, I was the live sound engineer with Talking Heads. It's great to have Richard Butler as my guest today. Plug in!
It still the season of love with our guest Pastor iyke , breaking it down for us , I have a question for you, who will you chose marry who you love, love who you marry, marry who loves you. Don't forget to share your views on it.
Brave New Women hosted by Cecilia Poullain Kate Dennis, TV and film director was nominated in 2017 for an Emmy® for Outstanding Director for a Drama Series for her episode of the Handmaid's Tale, ‘The Bridge' . She talks about why filming The Bridge was so hard to pull off and why it was so special. She talks about how she became a director. She talks about the nitty-gritty of being a director and her current film projects which are adaptations of "Almost French" by Sarah Turnbull and "All That I Am" by Anna Funder. We talk about her interest in telling stories about human tolerance and the human condition through a more intimate lens. We deep-dive into what it means to listen and how time stops us from understanding others as much as we would like. She talks about being a woman in the film industry when she first started and it was very male-dominated and now, when being a woman is an advantage.Kate Dennis has set up seven television dramas in the US, UK and Australia including Offspring which ran for seven seasons, garnering over 40 awards and nominations. Her episodic work in the US traverses comedy and drama and includes: The Handmaid's Tale; GLOW; The Tick; Heathers; Strange Angel; Krypton; Damnation; I'm Dying Up Here; The Mindy Project; Preacher; Turn: Washington's Spies; Fear The Walking Dead; Sleepy Hollow and Suits. She began her career as a camera assistant and later script supervisor on Priscilla Queen of the Desert; Babe; At Play in the Fields of the Lord and Cliffhanger. Her Australian directing work includes Rake; Miss Fisher's Murder Mysteries; The Time of Our Lives; Rush; The Secret Life of Us; and Love My Way. Hey Broomheads, #DEEEMP is back for a, if not 10 and 2 episode, than at least an 8 and 2! Paige is back for good with a pretend job that she made up and going full “Friends with Benefits” with more than one of our Degrassi boys. Meanwhile, Emma is on a soap box, but a genuinely important one that the show actually respects and lends proper credence to. All in all, a good episode and one of the better season 6 offerings. We're off next week for Thanksgiving, but a new Patreon episode will drop AND, if you're at the 10 dollar level, we'll be having our monthly fireside zoom chat on Tuesday the 24th, so get on it!!!

The Psychedelic Furs have been making moody, beautiful rock music since 1977. Despite a hiatus for the better part of the '90s, when founding members Richard Butler and Tim Butler founded Love Spit Love with Richard Fortus and Frank Ferrer, the long-running band is still going strong. After reuniting in 2000, the Furs have toured regularly, and thanks to the use of their songs “Love My Way” and “The Ghost of You” in Call Me By Your Name and Stranger Things, respectively, the band continues to find new fans over 40 years on.Last month marked the release of Made of Rain, the band's first new material since 1991's World Outside. Thanks to the work of collaborator Fortus as producer, along with deft mixes from Tim Palmer, the new material hearkens back to the band's classic '80s singles, while still fitting in alongside modern indie and alt rockers. The sound on Made of Rain is vast and powerful, ably demonstrating that the album is well worth the long wait.I hopped on the phone with bassist Tim Butler and speaking with the musician from his Kentucky home, we discussed Made of Rain and its creation, as well as the band's lasting cinematic influence.

Now, we didn't quite intend to do an entire episode, let alone one going past an hour long, about the new Luca Guadagagno film "Call Me By Your Name" (there are still many other films Jack has seen that could/will be talked about from 2017 that haven't yet). But Jack didn't see this with Andrew, Jack saw this his wife Korey, and... well, if you want to know more about her thoughts on the movie, just imagine everything Rotten Tomatoes is telling you with its 96% score... and reverse that. Jack didn't quite see it that way, but did he love it? Well... Damon Gameau, Actor, Director, Author, filmmaker and the creator of "That Sugar Film" drops by Wellness Force radio to discuss why he's started a movement to help change the way you think about "healthy foods." It's no surprise that many people you know have either dealt with or currently are in the process of breaking free from sugar. Modern day research papers from top leaders in the wellness movement are now showing the exact science as to why it so incredibly hard to let go of sugar: We are physiologically wired so that once we come in contact with sugar (which is rare in nature), that we crave it more and more. With clients, I see a lot of great progress in activity, sleep, and hydration, but this sugar piece this is a subtle foe; when you least expect it, it can slowly creep back into the diet and start wreaking havoc on progress. Sugar & Childhood This episode hit me in both the chest and in the stomach. On today's show, I talk about some things from my childhood that came during the live interview with Damon, and he shares the shocking findings of his 60 day "healthy food challenge" where he developed nonalcoholic fatty liver disease and gained an incredible amount of weight. All from eating 2300 or less calories a day while maintaining healthy exercise levels by eating "heart approved" healthy foods. Breaking Free From Sugar If you're on a wellness journey and letting go of old weight, or if you're looking for more energy then this is going to be an absolute knockout for you! This week on the podcast, Damon Gameau of the documentary, That Sugar Film, shares with us how the food, media, and grocery store industries continue to push us into consuming more and more sugar, how that sugar affects us, and what we can do to fight back and eat healthy. During the filming of That Sugar Film, Damon visited the United States and purposefully ate foods and drinks that we see as healthy, but actually have tons of hidden sugar. As you will discover, the experiment took a toll on his body, mind, and emotional energy. There’s nothing wrong with treating ourselves to something delicious once in awhile, but when we have a soda here, a candy bar there, and a strawberry banana smoothie from Jamba Juice on our way home from work, every grain of sugar starts to add up. All these sweet foods and drinks may give us a quick buzz of energy, but left unchecked we can find ourselves in a sugar coma, ready to crash, and emotionally drained. We all know that too much sugar is “bad for you,” but what do we do when there’s hidden sugar in supposedly healthy foods such as smoothies, yogurts, sports drinks, and juices. Taking Advantage of Our Biology The advertising and media industries have a lot of power that manipulates our food and beverage choices. Through television, social media, point-of-sale and other outlets, these advertisements can spread fast and vary greatly, including celebrity endorsements and promoting important charitable causes. Celebrities such as Beyonce are singing the praises of Pepsi and even sports star LeBron James has promoted McDonald’s and the pizza franchise Blaze. Kentucky Fried Chicken (KFC) sells some of the unhealthiest fast food that can cause so much damage to our bodies, but yet promotes cancer awareness by selling Buckets for the Cure. These endorsements and promotions send mixed signals to children and adults alike. Humans tend to crave sugars as a default. Even the mental image of sugary foods release the same endorphins as the feeling of love and happiness. Just simply seeing an image of a chocolate bar, soda, or a juicy burger from McDonald’s with the slogan, “I’m lovin’ it,” can flip the switch in our brain to crave these types of empty calorie products. Thin On The Outside, Fat On The Inside There’s a wide misconception that if you’re thin, you’re automatically healthy and if you’re fat, you’re unhealthy. But the reality is, you can be thin and at a normal weight with a very high metabolic rate and still be eating lots of processed foods with added sugars. This is known in Australia as “TOFI,” or in America as “skinny fat,” where large amounts of fat surrounding your internal organs is present that can’t be seen from the outside. At some point over the course of many years of drinking sodas and eating foods with high amounts of sugar, a person can face extreme health dangers such as diabetes and heart attacks. During the production of That Sugar Film, Damon himself suffered from the beginnings of fatty liver disease within just 3 weeks of his sugar experiment. Can we turn back the clocks? Not really, but what we can do to improve our health for the future, is to go through the process of eating healthier foods and avoiding sugars. Over time, your body, mind, and energy will improve with natural sugars from fruits and vegetables. Uncovering The Truth About Sugar For many years, the sugar and food industries have been hiding information from us by not sharing entire lists or percentages of ingredients on nutrition labels. Without even realizing it, we were probably consuming even more added sugar than we should have each day! These industries still need to provide more information to the public, but fortunately, organizations like the FDA are working to have the sugar and food industries include more information and larger labels on packaging to help people understand what they’re actually consuming. This change is so important in order to have the freedom to make nutritious decisions each day. You can turn your back to the food and sugar industries as well by doing your own research and discovery healthier alternatives. One good tip to keep in mind is to stay within the perimeters of grocery stores and try to eat as many foods without nutrition labels. Just focus on eating natural foods such as fruits, vegetables, nuts, seeds, fish, meat, and poultry. Anneli Dufva mötte henne i Sydneys Hyde Park.
