This isn't just about scrubs—it's about reimagining what healthcare professionals wear, with a focus on safety, comfort, and innovation. From patented features like a stethoscope holder to sustainable fabrics that prioritize health, Kathryn's designs are changing the game. But this episode isn't just about the scrubs—it's about the heart and hustle behind them. Interview by Dee Curran
Every once in a while, not often, but consistently, I come to a particular episode that I'm doing for myself. Today is one of those. I have told my children, and then everyone else who might listen to this old guy, that the best place to be is at the foot of the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit in communion with Him—Payer in a simpler term. No matter my circumstance, sad or joyful in my present, the best place for me is at the foot of our Creator, God, Redeemer, King, Rock, and Refuge. Because of His love and compassion, He is our peace, even in fear. Recently, I came across this quote "My sins prevail over me, and the terrors of their guiltiness. I am put often to ask, if Christ and I did ever shake hands together in earnest. I mean not that my feast-days are quite gone, but I am made of extremes." Samuel Rutherford We are children of God, and yet we are children of extremes. We have exquisite love for God in our inner man, and our souls exalt in His truths as we let them wash over us. At the same time we are brought to shame and wonder at the depths of our sins, and also know the cries of Paul: "Wretched man that I am! Who will set me free from the body of this death?" Romans 7:24 A song we referenced before is "Hallelujah," by Leonard Cohen. Whatever way, he came to this genius song verse: "I did my best, it wasn't much. I couldn't feel, so I tried to touch. I've told the truth, I didn't come to fool ya. And even though it all went wrong, I'll stand before the Lord of song with nothing on my tongue but Hallelujah." "There's a blaze of light in every word, it doesn't matter which you heard, the holy or the broken Hallelujah." We all come like Samual Rutherford and my hero/mentor David with great cheer and sorrow, but God accepts our holy and broken Hallelujahs. "I have become dumb, I do not open my mouth, Because it is Thou who hast done it. 10 "Remove Thy plague from me; Because of the opposition of Thy hand, I am perishing. 11 "With reproofs Thou dost chasten a man for iniquity; Thou dost consume as a moth what is precious to him; Surely every man is a mere breath. 12 "Hear my prayer, O LORD, and give ear to my cry; Do not be silent at my tears; For I am a stranger with Thee, A sojourner like all my fathers. 13 "Turn Thy gaze away from me, that I may smile again, Before I depart and am no more." Psalm 39:9-13 "My heart is steadfast, O God, my heart is steadfast; I will sing, yes, I will sing praises! 8 Awake, my glory; Awake, harp and lyre, I will awaken the dawn! 9 I will give thanks to Thee, O Lord, among the peoples; I will sing praises to Thee among the nations. 10 For Thy lovingkindness is great to the heavens, And Thy truth to the clouds. 11 Be exalted above the heavens, O God; Let Thy glory be above all the earth." Psalm 57:7-11 Our So what? That is my witness; that is what I have to give to thee. I know the depths of sorrow that says, turn away thy gaze from me. and I know his loving kindness is great to the heavens. One of the great ends while we are on this earth of our prayer lives is that we learn. That he accepts our holy and our broken, hallelujahs. Brethren, let's pray for one another. Only three songs were nominated for the Academy Award in 2008, the first time that had happened in 20 years. In this episode, we learn about the three songs, including two from prolific Bollywood composer A.R. Rahman that gave us some new sounds that had not been presented in Hollywood films. The other song gave Thomas Newman another chance to end his Oscar losing streak, thanks to his work on his second animated Pixar movie.
In this episode of The Armor Men's Health Show, Dr. Mistry and Donna Lee discuss everyone's favorite sensitive topic! Hormones! A lot of doctors - including Urologists - don't really care for treating hormones and would much rather do what they're trained to do…surgery. Have you ever considered that if you go to a “low T center” you'll probably be diagnosed with - you guessed it - LOW T! But there are other hormones to address other than just testosterone. As we (men AND women) age, we ALL go through hormonal changes. So why not have your hormones restored to what they used to be when you were a younger whipper snapper and snappette? The first tip we have to address your hormones is to find a medical provider who cares about your hormones and YOU! Fatigue, brain fog, low libido, diminished libido, etc. are just some of the common symptoms of hormones that have changed due to age. Guess what?!? We can fix it with hormone replacement options and a holistic approach as well. The Armor Men's Health Show is here for YOU! Singer/songwriter Steven Curtis Chapman joins the Tim DeMoss Show today! Chapman is the most awarded artist in Christian music history, winning 59 GMA Dove Awards, five Grammy Awards, an American Music Award. Among his 49 #1 singles: tender songs like His Eyes, I Will Be Here and Cinderella; lively, fun songs like The Great Adventure, No Better Place, Dive, Let Us Pray and All About Love, plus many more such as More To This Life, Not Home Yet, Signs of Life and Fingerprints of God. We discuss Chapman's brand new album “Still” and feature several songs from it including the title track. We also cover a lot of other SCC musical ground and hear his thoughts on the Lord and what He has been doing in he and his family's lives. On a personal note, Chapman's 2009 album "Beauty Will Rise"--birthed out of the loss of his adopted five-year old daughter in a tragic accident--has been an ongoing source of encouragement and hope in my (Tim's) life while seeking to persevere through various challenges including the health of our children. I highly recommend it as a way to be encouraged and do the same for friends and family who may be struggling with pain or loss, with God Himself as ultimate source of help and hope. You can find out more about SCC's new album, music, touring and the rest at www.stevencurtischapman.com :). This week's guest, writer/drummer S.W. Lauden, first wrote about NY band Fountains Of Wayne in the book 'Go All The Way: A Literary Appreciation of Power Pop'. During that time, he listened to their third - and breakout - album 'Welcome Interstate Managers' for months on repeat, and eventually formulated a theory that it's actually a sly, sophisticated Gen-X concept album. To be clear, this is solely HIS theory. Nonetheless, it lent itself to a really fun conversation, and the pure-pop mastery of Chris Collingwood and Adam Schlesinger's songs cannot be denied! Songs featured in this episode: Valley Winter Song - Fountains Of Wayne (NPR Tiny Desk Concert); Next Aquarius - The Brothers Steve; Go All The Way - Raspberries; Radiation Vibe - Fountains Of Wayne; Fight Test - The Flaming Lips; That Thing You Do - The Wonders; Mexican Wine, Bright Future In Sales, Stacy's Mom - Fountains Of Wayne; Buddy Holly - Weezer, Just What I Needed - The Cars; Hackensack - Fountains Of Wayne; Hackensack - Katy Perry (Live MTV Unplugged, 2009); No Better Place, Valley Winter Song, All Kinds Of Time - Fountains Of Wayne; Rock-n-Roll Star - Oasis; Little Red Light, Hey Julie, Fire Island, Bought For A Song, Supercollider, Yours And Mine, Elevator Up - Fountains Of Wayne; Popular - Nada Surf; Hackensack - Fountains Of Wayne (Live Jersey 4 Jersey feat. When the brackets came out, there was little chance that the nastiest rivals ever to play college basketball were going to meet. That is, until the regional finals when Duke beat up Arkansas at the West Regional in San Francisco. The following day, North Carolina squashed the Cinderella dreams of the first Number 15 seed to reach the Elite Eight in tiny St. Peter's at the East Regional in Philadelphia. And so, the 258th all-time meeting between the state school and the private, elitist school separated by only eight miles will clash on college basketball's biggest stage. Think of the other huge rivalries in sports: New York Yankees vs. Boston Red Sox, San Francisco Giants vs. Los Angeles Dodgers; Chicago Bears vs. Green Bay Packers, Boston Celtics vs. Los Angeles Lakers. If you are talking college football, you have Ohio State vs. Michigan, USC vs. Notre Dame, Auburn vs. Alabama, and in recent years with Alabama vs. Georgia. Of course, there is that other vicious rivalry featuring pure animosity every December when Kentucky battles Louisville. Most of that is usually one sided, and when they collided at the 2012 Final Four--the fans liquored up a storm on Bourbon Street, and more of the same was expected this week way down yonder in New Orleans. Saturday night, April 2, 2022 is going to be ten thousand times bigger than that. All week, it has been 24/7/365 chatter on sports talk radio, Twitter, and YouTube. Although my podcast sets up as a short primer, please tap on your phone or click on the link below for those who have either a desktop or a laptop to read my comprehensive Final Four preview. And yes, I did touch on a bit of the first semifinal between Kansas and Villanova, but there isn't too much to talk about there. 20211126 - No Better Place To Shop And Explore More Than NYC by Kevin McCullough Radio
RUSH: There is a story today, SI.com. Actually, it was posted yesterday. Headline: ‘There's No Better Place to be Sports Fan Right Now Than Philadelphia.' I want to read a small excerpt, go to the break, and come back and delve into this in detail. It's a good story about Philadelphia at SI, SportsIllustrated.com. But buried in this article, which I hold here right here in my formerly nicotine-stained fingers, buried in this article is this: ‘Passion like this takes strange forms. When watching a movie, it’s easy to think that everything is real and true and lifelike. It's no surprise that that isn't always the case, especially with military movies. That's how Marine Veteran Dale Dye got involved. He wanted to tell Hollywood the right way to portray the military on screen. In this episode Dale Dye talks Vietnam, post-military careers, treating PTSD Dye recently finished the film The Last Full Measure and his directorial debut, No Better Place to Die, was recently announced.
Dale Dye is venerated for his boots on the ground, method acting tactics. In the words of Tom Hanks, “he takes foo-foo actors and turns them into something that vaguely resembles a Marine.” Dale's legacy began with Oliver Stone’s, Platoon, where he uprooted Hollywood legends like Charlie Sheen, Johnny Depp, William Dafoe (along with 25 other actors), unleashing them to the jungle ridden mountains of the Philippines for 3 weeks. Here, they got to know the taste of war. Following Platoon’s success, a call from Steven Spielberg cemented Dale's legacy in Hollywood, when he was asked to conduct a similar bootcamp for the actors in Saving Private Ryan. He would continue to collaborate with Spielberg and Tom Hanks on Band of Brothers and The Pacific. Dale is a living archive, bringing realism to war movies, having served as a war correspondent in the Vietnam war. With 3 purple hearts and an expansive list of award winning films in his arsenal, he has a thing or two to contribute. Dale is currently in pre-production for a his own film, No Better Place to Die, which he is slated to direct. His primary goal is to fulfill as many roles as possible with US veterans. This is part two of our interview with Sandy Wise. If you missed last week, you’ll want to go back and check that out first. Today’s topic isn’t one that most people want to talk about, but it is important. We’re picking up with Sandy’s story after Donald’s cancer treatment. Tell us about Donald’s final week here on earth. If you knew Donald, every other word out of his mouth was about Jesus. His last few days, he wanted to make sure our technician (and everyone else) knew about the Jesus he served his whole life. There was such a peace in the room, and at 11:20am on a Sunday Donald went to be with Jesus. One of the best examples of how Donald and Sandy modeled marriage well was Donald’s memorial service. Tell us about that day. All of my kids were at my house and all the girls were getting ready together. I remember us walking in and the song playing was one of Donald’s very favorite—Steven Curtis Chapman’s “No Better Place”. We called it Paw Paw’s Party with the grandkids; we just wanted to honor him because he had led us well. How did you cope the first few months? I will tell you, if there’s anything you can say about cancer, it does give you all this time to say all the things you want to say. We talked very openly about what it would look like on this side, and that set me up to walk those months afterwards. I was surrounded by a lot of people, my kids made sure I wasn’t alone. My sister-in-law spent lots of time with me and she made me do ‘normal’. How has the journey after Donald surprised you in good ways? About a week after Donald went to Heaven, I was standing there in the bathroom and it was like I could hear him say, “Babe, you can do this.” I did some things people may think were crazy, but I got my first tattoo. I also did things that were normal—Donald and I always went to the Braves spring training camp, so my sister-in-law and I went down and did that. I also sold our house and bought a town home. It can be hard to know how to help people who are on a journey like this. How have people jumped in to be there for you and what advice would you give to people who want to love people after loss? Give them the freedom to talk. There is nothing greater than for someone to tell me a Donald story. Make me do ‘normal’ things. One of the most blessed things that I’ve had is that our couple friends have invited me out for dinner still. Still invite them out. I could think of nothing sadder than sitting and eating casseroles from a meal train by myself—take them out to eat! Before Donald passed, some folks decorated our house for Christmas and then came after and helped me take my tree down. What are some of the things you shouldn’t say when someone is going through a loss? People saying “Call me if you need me”. Sometimes I couldn’t even remember seeing people that day, much less calling them to ask for help. Also, books were not helpful to me. I know people meant well, but it wasn’t helpful to me. Don’t say that you know how I feel. How has living on this side of Heaven without Donald—the void and loss—changed and evolved over time? The first few months I didn’t want to say ‘widow’, but now I’m embracing it as this season in my life. After Donald left this earth, God came down and filled that void. I want to finish it well. What would you say to someone who is on a similar journey—they may have lost their spouse? I have a friend who just lost her spouse, and she told me she finds peace in talking to me because I’ve let her talk and she doesn’t feel crazy in the things she’s thinking. God chose this journey for you, He knew before He put you together with your husband that you were going to walk it. The reason I (Ted) wanted you that are listening to hear from Sandy is that Sandy brings the remarkable gift of perspective. Losing someone you love helps you to know really quickly what matters and what doesn’t. I know Donald Wise would be saying about Sandy – “I am so proud of you”. If you want to follow Sandy, you can follow her on Facebook. You can also check out the book Sandy mentions: Don’t Waste Your Cancer. Thanks for joining us for the Married People Podcast. In this episode, Doc interviews Captain Dale Dye, USMC(Retired), a legend in both military and movie circles. Captain Dale A. Dye, served 20 year sin the United States Marine Corps, rising from the rank of recruit private to Master Sergeant, before ultimately becoming a warrant officer, and finally a commissioned officer. He served multiple tours of combat in Vietnam, earning the Bronze Star with “V” for Valor, and three Purple Hearts for wound sustained in combat. He also saw action in Beirut Lebanon in the early 1980’s. Captain Dye came to Hollywood in 1985 with a vision in mind…to change how American civilians view the common grunt. Having been around infantrymen all his life and having been one himself, he knew that the majority are intelligent, creative, and full of heart…and the image of the dumb cannon-fodder blindly following orders not only was not true…but was a grave disservice to those brave servicemen who had risked and often gave their lives so that our nation could survive and prosper. So he looked for the best medium available to reach the hearts and minds of the public, and chose the film and television industry to spread his message. Captain Dye’s current passion project is the film “No Better Place to Die”. This film will tell the incredible story of the three-day battle for the La Fiere bridge in Normandy, where brave soldiers from the US Army’s famed 82nd Airborne Division fought one of the most ferocious small-unit combats in US history. (See below for link to support this endeavor) Tim Kennedy’s legend began at his local Army recruiter’s office on September 12th, 2001. His training to earn his Green Beret was featured in the book “Chosen Soldier.” Kennedy is now a Ranger qualified Special Forces Sniper with deployments in Operation Iraqi Freedom, Operation Enduring Freedom, and multiple other deployments around the world. He is the only soldier to win the grueling 3 day All Army Combatives Tournament three times. Kennedy has a black belts in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu and Modern Army Combatives. He is also one of the top ranked mixed martial arts fighters in the world, a position he achieved while simultaneously serving his country at the highest levels of special operations. He is currently ranked among the top Middleweights in the UFC. Tim has been featured on many television shows, most recently “Hunting Hitler” on the History Channel Mike Simpson has served over three decades in the military as an Airborne Ranger, a Special Forces Operator, and finally as a Doctor of Emergency Medicine assigned to the Joint Special Operations Command (JSOC). Throughout his career, Mike has deployed to 17 different countries, from counter-narcotics operations in the jungles of South America, to the Global War on Terror (GWOT) in Southwest Asia and North Africa. Along the way, Mike has been trained as a demolitions expert, SWAT Sniper, High Altitude Low Opening (HALO) parachutist, civilian paramedic, Special Forces Medic, Operations and intelligence Sergeant, and finally, a board certified Emergency Medicine Physician. Mike is also a martial arts enthusiast, who trains in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu and Muay Thai. His passion for martial arts motivated him to become a practicing fight doctor. As one of the foremost experts in both tactical trauma medicine and combat sports medicine, Mike is highly sought after as a lecturer and instructor, working extensively with Mixed Martial Arts (MMA) fighters, law enforcement, and military organizations providing medical care and training. He co-stars with Tim Kennedy on Hunting Hitler on the History Channel. “No Better Plave to Die” Indiegogo campaign: https://www.indiegogo.com/projects/no-better-place-to-die-film-war--2#/ Instagram: @nobetterplacetodie Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/NoBetterPlaceToDie/ Dale Dye Twitter: @CaptDaleDye Instagram: @Captdaledye Sheepdog Response: https://sheepdogresponse.com Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/sheepdogresponse/ Twitter and instagram: @TimKennedyMMA @DrMikeSimpson Email: hoplonmedical@gmail.com
Dale Dye wants to make the "air version" of Saving Private Ryan, and he wants to film it with as many military veterans as possible. "If you think of the first 18 minutes or so of Saving Private Ryan," Dye said. "This will be that but airborne. This will be guys coming out of those aircraft and sky full of tracers." Dye wrote the script for "No Better Place to Die" from a story he'd studied during his active duty days. He felt the story perfectly exemplifies what Americans troops can do when they come together after everything goes wrong. It's about the 82nd Airborne Division paratroopers during the D-Day invasion and their contribution to winning the war. If it weren't for these troops, the German's may have pushed the allied beach invasion back out to sea, according to Dye. While the filmmaking world knows him as Hollywood’s drill sergeant, Dye has reserved the director's seat for himself. "Given what I've done in my 30-year career the only way this going to get done right, the only way this is going to blow people right out of their seats is if I direct it because I know how," Dye said. "I know how to do this cool." As for hiring veterans, Dye is looking to fill on and off camera roles to make a filmmaking statement. "My absolute promise is that I'm going to make this movie with as many veterans in front of the camera and behind the camera as I can find, Dye said. "That's the way I'm going to do it. I'm hoping that it will serve as a showcase to Hollywood. It will show them the talent that's out there and what these folks can do. What they bring to the table and how motivated they can be, and I want to demonstrate that."
In this Episode, Actor and Captain Dale Dye joins Pete and Brad for a discussion on his movie project, No Better Place to Die. This project is about the 82 Airborne on D-Day as they battle the Germans to take the causeway objective. Captain Dale Dye has supported and acted in Platoon, Saving Private Ryan, Band of Brothers and many more great films. Once again, we are proud to bring this great interview.
