In this special episode of Money Talk With Tiff, host Tiffany Grant sits down with Petra-Ann Brown, the host of Island Money365, to talk about money habits, cultural expectations, and financial challenges facing people with Caribbean backgrounds—especially when navigating life and family expectations between the islands and the U.S.Check out the full episode show notes: https://moneytalkwitht.com/podcast-show-notes/navigating-family-expectations/Takeaways In Caribbean culture, it's common to live multi-generationally, with families supporting each other financially and emotionally. Expectations for financial support from children in Caribbean families can be very different than in the States. Be honest with your family back home about your financial situation to manage expectations effectively. Establish clear financial plans for supporting family members back home to avoid misunderstandings. It's essential to verify that funds sent home are used for their intended purpose, especially when building homes. Community support in Caribbean cultures is strong, often leading to a more interconnected relationship with neighbors compared to American norms. In this engaging episode of Money Talk With Tiff, host Tiffany Grant welcomes back Dr. Jordan Grumet, also fondly known as Doc G, to discuss his latest book, The Purpose Code. Previously featured on episode 322 where they explored the concept of "Redefining Rich" through Dr. Grumet's experiences as a hospice doctor, this episode shifts focus to understanding and creating one's purpose.Dr. Grumet delves into what he calls "purpose anxiety", the struggle many face in finding their purpose and how it can lead to anxiety and depression. He unpacks his approach to solving this paradox by advocating for an active creation of purpose rather than searching endlessly for it. Tiffany and Dr. Grumet talk about identifying "purpose anchors," small activities or interests that bring joy and meaning on a daily basis.Throughout the conversation, they touch upon practical strategies to find these purpose anchors, how to overcome common obstacles in the journey of creating purpose, and how societal pressures can often derail us from our authentic paths.Check out the full show notes: https://moneytalkwitht.com/podcast-show-notes/the-purpose-code/Takeaways Finding your purpose isn't about searching; it's about actively creating it through your passions. Purpose can come from everyday activities that bring you joy, not just lofty goals. People often feel pressure to find a singular purpose, leading to anxiety and frustration. Purpose anchors are the small things that excite you and can guide your life direction. Social media can skew our perception of purpose, making it seem glamorous instead of personal. Reflecting on childhood interests can reveal valuable clues about your true purpose today. It's Die Hard in a time travel movie! This week on the show, Phil and Liam wrestle with 12 MONKEYS (though not literally, sadly). For this spirited discussion of Terry Gilliam's challenging 1995 sci-fi mind-bender, the boys are joined by special guest Brad Peyton, director of such blockbuster hits as SAN ANDREAS, RAMPAGE and the forthcoming Netflix sci-fi movie ATLAS starring Jennifer Lopez! In a dystopian future, a deadly artificially-created virus has wiped out the majority of the human population and forced the small number of survivors to live underground. In an attempt to understand what happened and potentially find a cure, prisoner James Cole (Bruce Willis) is sent back in time to investigate. However, Cole is mistakenly sent back to the wrong time, and is thus assumed to be insane. With the help of compassionate psychologist Dr. Kathryn Railly (Madeline Stowe), the increasingly mentally fragile Cole attempts to complete the mission, find those responsible, and save the future. The guys debate whether this is Bruce Willis' greatest dramatic performance and muse on their favorite Bruce Willis roles. They also talk about their respective relationships with director Terry Gilliam and his work, and Brad even describes a memorable encounter with the man himself! This is a difficult film that require a bankable star to make it commercial viable, and so Brad talks about his personal experiences working with giant movie stars such as Dwayne Johnson and J-Lo, providing a fascinating insight into his creative process, and the delicate dynamic between director and star on a modern movie set. They also talk extensively about 12 MONKEY co-stars Madeline Stowe and Brad Pitt (who was Oscar-nominated for his role as the schizophrenic mental patient/revolutionary Jeffrey Goines) and what Pitt's eclectic filmography has in common with Bruce Willis' own career choices. As always, the show culminates with the Die Hard Oscars, followed by a particularly appropriate edition of the Double Jeopardy trivia quiz! Commonly known as social media's most outspoken supporter of this generation's interest in hoodoo and astrology, in this episode, we are having a conversation with Witchdoctoralex. We are in the midst of a Lunar Eclipse, as well as Retrograde season, so we definitely touch on that but, overall, we are talking all things spiritual. As someone who has openly been in the "spiritual" space for years now, we get to know how Witchdoctoralex's journey as an astrologer, reader, and diviner began and what has conspired in his path (as well as in the general spiritual space) since. If you find yourself in the midst of a tower moment (a life-changing, awakening, and perhaps incredibly difficult, season), you'll definitely enjoy this conversation as we define the tower moments in our own lives and what we learned looking back. Some other topics we discuss include: spiritual warfare, Saturn Returns, death, cancel culture, spiritualists, and navigating life changes.Thank you so much for listening! :) If you are tuning in on Apple podcasts, make sure to leave a review to help us grow this community!Watch this episode on YouTube at youtube.com/c/withjocelynFollow the pod @startingwithgratitude and the host @withjocelyn on InstagramVisit withjocelyn.com for more mindfulness and resourcesAvailable on all podcast platformsSupport the show (https://cash.app/$withjocelyn)

A conversation between friends, Travis Phillips, most commonly known as Yoh (one of thee best writers in the game), and I catch up on the life changes and life reflections that sprouted over the course of the past year. We touch on reconnecting (and redefining) our relationship with spirituality, as well as making sure to prioritize stillness as we continue to journey forward. "Create with intention, scale with strategy" is one of many tweets I heart by Kai Miller, a woman who is unsubscribing from hustle culture and subscribing to the full embodiment of self. We are in a time of needing instant gratification, being faced with a saturation of temporary content, and feeling pressured to the point of comparison. For Kai, this is no more. We're all familiar with it... that transitional space between who you were and who you are becoming. A space in which you are shedding the old and still unfolding the new. "The cocoon phase" as our very special guest Ashley "Outrageous" Ocampo calls it. Ashley is currently in the midst of this transition, personally and professionally (re)shaping her foundation, her lifestyle, and her being. As she begins to fully embrace (and eventually expand on) artist management and express that shift to the world, she is making sure the management first-and-foremost begins with herself. Known for her legendary blogging days, which then led her to some major power plays in the music industry including working with TDE, change isn't foreign for Ashley. A woman with many hats, her career has seemingly fluidly gone through its own evolution. The evolvement she's already experienced has allowed her to acknowledge, accept, and have the willingness to explore the self-work she is doing now. You can learn more about Ashley here and follow her here. This episode explores the cocoon phase, as we hear from someone who is in the midst of it now. What does it look like? How does it feel? This is our very first full conversation and I am so grateful for it and for Tiana's vulnerability to share her experience, her awareness, and her perspective. You may follow Tiana and her journey @tianabrynt on Instagram :)In this episode, we discuss topics including but not limited to: what is Premenstrual dysphoric disorder (PMDD) and Tiana's experience with it, coping with depression and anxiety, overcoming intrusive thoughts and what they look like, ritualizing self-care, the importance of exploring your body and understanding your emotions, taking medicinal microdoses of psilocybin (shrooms), and more. I, myself, learned so much from this conversation and as I continue to listen to it over and over again, I am led to self-inquiry in gentle and expansive ways. I hope you are led to (self)discovery, as well. If you feel you are experiencing PMDD, I encourage you to dive into more research and consult with your doctor if you are able! If you are experiencing depression and/or anxiety, gentle reminder that you are not your thoughts and you are very much so loved and purposeful. Please try to seek out a safe space with a loved one and express yourself. All that is mentioned in this episode is rooted in personal experience. Consult a professional, as needed.
