In this Friday Headline Brief of The Wright Report, Bryan covers the IRGC firing drones at a cargo ship in the Strait of Hormuz and ordering global shippers to clear their routes with Tehran first, a direct dare to the White House that confirms exactly what Bryan predicted would happen. The Supreme Court delivers major rulings this week, including a 6-3 decision tightening the definition of when a migrant legally "arrives" in the US, effectively ending walk-up asylum claims at the border, and a separate ruling giving any president the authority to end Temporary Protected Status for foreign nationals. Bryan also tracks the latest installment of Revenge of the Judges, with lower courts blocking voter roll checks and ICE enforcement while the high court swats them back, and covers the US Army opening bases to process critical minerals as Trump pushes defense contractors to ramp up missile production. Plus, Reflecting Pool vandals caught on video, a screw-worm outbreak expanding across Texas ranches with old-timers showing the way through, and medical breakthroughs on auto-immune disease, stroke treatment, and the link between low testosterone and cancer risk. This week's Deadpod features the Grateful Dead's second set from June 4, 1978, at Campus Stadium, University of California, Santa Barbara—a show that captures the band in a confident and fluid late-'70s mode. The set opens with a lively "Samson and Delilah," followed by a nicely rendered "Ship of Fools" that provides an early contrast in mood. The improvisational core begins with "Estimated Prophet," which unfolds patiently before transitioning into a bright and engaging "Eyes of the World." (nevermind Bobby stepping on Jerry's solo).  The Eyes is a bit on the fast side, I wonder if the presence of Ken Kesey and the Thunder machine had something to do with that? "Drums" and a concise "Space" serve as a bridge into the closing sequence, where a driving "Not Fade Away" builds into "Goin' Down the Road Feeling Bad" and a high-energy "Around and Around." The set is capped by a pair of encores—"U.S. Blues" and "Sugar Magnolia"—that bring the performance to an upbeat conclusion. Overall, this is a well-paced and cohesive second set, offering both strong song performances and a satisfying improvisational arc. As always, I hope you enjoy the listen.     Grateful Dead Campus Stadium - University Of California Santa Barbara, CA 6/4/1978 - Sunday  Two      Samson And Delilah [6:34]  Ship Of Fools [6:57]  Estimated Prophet [10:40] > Eyes Of The World [10:16] > Drums [10:#16] > Space (1) [4:21] > Not Fade Away [8:04] > Goin' Down The Road Feeling Bad [6:29] > Around And Around [7:27] Encores      U.S. Blues [5:09]  Sugar Magnolia [7:51]   You can listen to this week's Deadpod here: https://traffic.libsyn.com/deadshow/deadpod062626.mp3  As always thanks for your kind support of the Deadpod!

Believing the Bizarre: Paranormal Conspiracies & Myths

The Imjärvi Incident | Paranormal Podcast This week, we headed to January 1970 in the frozen forests of southern Finland to cover the Imjärvi UFO incident, where two experienced, credible cross-country skiers named Aarno and Esko stopped for a rest in a clearing and watched a metallic disc descend from a glowing cloud just meters above the ground, accompanied by a buzzing that wouldn't quit and a beam of intense white light that scorched a perfect circle into the snow. Standing inside that beam was a three-foot-tall pale being in a green coverall with a hooked nose, claw-like fingers, and a black box aimed directly at Arno that pulsed harder and harder until colored sparks shot out of the snow and drifted slowly across both men. What followed the encounter is where things really went sideways. Aarno couldn't hold his weight, urinated black, became incoherent, had what a doctor described as textbook radiation exposure symptoms that lasted for months, and that was before the strange woman in yellow claimed to be from a peaceful green world across the galaxy and started showing up uninvited wherever he went.

#385 - Cómo escalar tu negocio con Amazon Easy Ship

    Wizards Of Ecom (En Español)

Play Episode Listen Later Jun 23, 2026 15:26

The judge described what the evidence reveals about the character of the person charged with killing Anna Kepner and concluded that no combination of conditions could protect the community.Hudson was first charged as a juvenile in February and released under electronic monitoring. When a grand jury indicted him as an adult on charges of first-degree murder and aggravated offenses, the legal framework changed. Prosecutors filed sealed forensic evidence two days before the detention hearing. The judge reversed the release.CCTV from the Carnival Horizon captured Hudson entering and leaving the cabin multiple times over several hours the night Anna was killed. Ship data tracked her smashed phone along the same route Hudson walked the next morning. FBI testimony from the unsealed hearing transcript revealed that Anna had reportedly told her family she was scared of Hudson before the cruise. She said he had knives. Her thirteen-year-old brother was in the same room. The global ship recycling market has entered a new chapter as the United States and Iran sign an interim peace agreement, reopening the Strait of Hormuz after more than 100 days of closure. In Week 25 of 2026, Brent crude collapsed to approximately USD 78 per barrel, erasing the entire war premium that had carried prices above USD 126 in late April. WTI also eased toward USD 75, while sanctions relief and the restart of halted Gulf oil production shifted market focus from supply disruption to potential oversupply. For the global ship recycling industry, this is a major turning point. The two forces that kept older vessels trading instead of recycling, high bunker costs and strong freight earnings, are now weakening together. The Baltic Dry Index eased to around 2,653 on June 17, while daily Capesize earnings fell to approximately USD 35,162 from the late-May high near USD 49,511. However, the timing remains difficult. Although peace has reopened the sea route and reduced the bunker-cost floor, the Indian subcontinent is now deep in the monsoon season. Bangladesh, India, and Pakistan continue to show demand, financing, and yard appetite, but beaching activity remains limited by weather. This week's episode examines: The interim US-Iran peace agreement and reopening of the Strait of Hormuz Brent crude collapsing toward USD 78 and the evaporation of the war premium Why lower bunker costs could finally release older vessels for recycling The continued cooling of dry bulk freight and Capesize earnings Why the monsoon now controls the beaching calendar across South Asia Bangladesh's stable Taka, steady steel prices, and strong post-monsoon outlook India's Rupee rally, softer Alang steel, and improving macro position Pakistan's firm Rupee, strong steel pricing, and fading Gulf proximity premium Turkey's Lira breaking 46 per dollar and Aliaga's continued EU-regulated niche Why the second half of 2026 may bring the strongest candidate flow since February Key market takeaway: Peace has been signed, the Strait of Hormuz has reopened, Brent has returned near pre-war levels, and the freight premium is cooling. The deferred wave of recycling candidates is now being primed, but the monsoon remains the immediate constraint. The ships are free to move, but the beaches must wait for the rains to ease. Peace is signed. The premium is gone. The ships are moving. But the rains reign.   For full details, vessel rankings, and port positions, download the GMS Weekly on our GMS website or mobile app. Follow GMS on LinkedIn, Facebook, Instagram, and X for daily updates.

The Eastland Disaster remains one of the deadliest maritime disasters in American history — yet most people have never heard of it. In 1915, the passenger ship SS Eastland rolled onto its side while tied to a dock in downtown Chicago. No storm. No collision. No iceberg. Just a routine day trip that suddenly became catastrophe. But this story isn't just about a shipwreck. It's about warning signs people slowly stop noticing… systems that appear safe because they continue functioning… and how ordinary routines can quietly hide dangerous instability. In this Disaster File episode of An Ounce, we examine: • The SS Eastland disaster • The hidden impact of Titanic-era safety changes • Why the ship may already have been unstable • How “normal” conditions can disguise catastrophe • And the unsettling psychology of systems that fail slowlyThe Eastland Disaster killed more than 800 people in shallow water — within arm's reach of rescue. And almost nobody talks about it anymore. If you enjoy thoughtful disaster history, hidden historical stories, maritime disasters, systems analysis, emergency management lessons, or stories that reveal deeper human patterns beneath major events, this episode is for you.#EastlandDisaster #Shipwreck #ChicagoHistory #DisasterFile #MaritimeHistory #Titanic #HistoricalDisasters #AnOunce #EastlandDisaster #MaritimeHistory #DisasterFile #ChicagoHistory #Shipwreck #TitanicCHAPTERS (Estimated)00:00 — SS Eastland: Ship That Sank at the Dock 00:43 — The Things We Learn to Live With 01:50 — The SS Eastland: A Fun Day on the Water 03:02 — A Ship With a Reputation 04:02 — The Ghost of Titanic 05:46 — Permission to Trust 06:46 — The Morning of the Disaster 07:06 — The List08:12— The Roll 09:10— Aftermath 09:37 — The Hidden Danger of “Normal” 10:34 — An Ounce   Recommended Companion Episode (for The Ship That Sank at the Dock — The Eastland Disaster)The Warnings We Forgot — Even Though They Were Written in Stonehttps://youtu.be/yxxa1_-nBSoWhy This Pairing WorksBoth episodes explore disasters where warning signs existed long before the catastrophe arrived. In The Eastland Disaster, people slowly adapted to instability because the ship kept functioning. In The Warnings We Forgot, societies ignored physical reminders and historical knowledge because everyday life continued normally. Both stories examine:normalized danger warning signs people stop emotionally reacting to hindsight clarity and how ordinary routines can quietly hide catastrophe Neither disaster truly “came out of nowhere.”Both were preceded by signals people slowly learned to live with. REFERENCESEastland Historical SourcesChicago History Museum — Eastland Disaster Collection https://www.chicagohistory.org/Encyclopedia of Chicago — Eastland Disaster http://www.encyclopedia.chicagohistory.org/pages/427.htmlEastland Disaster Historical Society https://eastlanddisaster.org/Library of Congress — Eastland Disaster Photographs and Records https://www.loc.gov/Britannica — SS Eastland https://www.britannica.com/topic/EastlandSystems Failure / Human Factors / Disaster Pattern ReferencesCharles Perrow — Normal Accidents: Living with High-Risk Technologies https://press.princeton.edu/books/paperback/9780691004129/normal-accidentsDiane Vaughan — The Challenger Launch Decision https://press.uchicago.edu/ucp/books/book/chicago/C/bo22739523.htmlNTSB / Human Factors Resources https://www.ntsb.gov/safety/safety-studies/pages/default.aspxFEMA — Emergency Management Institute (Human Factors / Disaster Response Concepts) https://training.fema.gov/emi/TAGSEastland Disaster, SS Eastland, Eastland shipwreck, Chicago disaster, Chicago history, maritime disaster, shipwreck history, forgotten disasters, disaster documentary, disaster file, maritime history, Titanic connection, Titanic safety changes, systems failure, human behavior, historical disaster, emergency management, hidden history, American disasters, ship sinking, 1915 disaster, Chicago River, shipwreck documentary, disaster analysis, operational drift, warning signs, human factors, catastrophe psychology, maritime catastrophe, disaster storytelling, An Ounce Podcast, disaster file series, history documentary, true disaster story, Eastland tragedy, normalized risk, risk management, safety systems, systems drift, industrial disasters, hidden structure history

Believing the Bizarre: Paranormal Conspiracies & Myths

The Hands From Under the Bed | Paranormal Podcast This week, we've got two listener submissions. First from Rebecca in Texas, who as a terrified little girl forced to watch Salem's Lot by her dad couldn't shake the vampires long enough to sleep, prayed desperately in the dark, and then had an experience in that darkness that she still remembers in perfect detail decades later. Then we got into Chloe's story, which genuinely had us putting the phone down — she traveled to Slovakia to help refurbish an old building that turned out to have been a Nazi stronghold during WWII, was given a candle and a warning by a local woman who claimed she could see what was still lingering there, and then fell asleep in an isolated outbuilding with music in her ears and felt two cold hands grab both her ankles and drag her down the bed. The marks were still on her ankles when she turned the light on, the room was completely empty, the door was locked, and the candle had gone out halfway — and that wasn't even the last time it happened.

In this episode, we kick things off in Washington, where a renewed push to tax Chinese cargo ships has agricultural shippers warning of catastrophic consequences for U.S. crop exporters. Democratic Senators Mark Kelly and Elizabeth Warren are pressing the Trump administration to reinstate port fees on Chinese vessels, charges that were suspended until November after China applied reciprocal fees. The Agriculture Transportation Coalition warns the proposals threaten the very existence of large segments of U.S. agriculture by denying them the ability to continue exporting. Next, we head west to examine how the nation's busiest container gateway is bracing for a significant downturn while massively ramping up infrastructure spending. The Los Angeles Board of Harbor Commissioners has approved a three point four billion dollar annual budget even as the port forecasts a seven percent decline in box volumes to nine point three million TEUs. Despite the volume decline driven by trade volatility and China's shrinking import share, the budget increase of six hundred sixty-five million dollars over the prior year is mostly driven by a thirty-one percent expansion for capital improvements. Finally, we explore a bold vision for autonomous cross-border freight taking shape along the Texas-Mexico border as industry leaders debate the Green Corridors project at a major Laredo conference. The privately funded initiative proposes a one hundred sixty-five-mile elevated guideway linking Laredo and Monterrey through a network of autonomous freight shuttles. The system would feature secure terminals connected by a closed-loop automated corridor designed to bypass traditional border bottlenecks, with the capacity to handle as many as ten thousand trailers per day in each direction and a targeted twenty thirty launch.
