So I think it helps me be less reactive and less defensive. Thoughts on Breathing I was kidnapped at gunpoint when six months pregnant. And it was yoga breathing that saved me and my daughter. And I remind her, every time she makes fun of me when I'm doing yoga, I say yoga saved your life, which is breathing saved your life because it helped me. Sentiments Of An Award-Winning Writer Because of the stress of that situation, I was having premature contractions. And I was worried I was about to lose her. And so I had to calm down. It was a matter of life or death. I didn't know that the only way I knew how to calm myself down is breathing. And I felt quite powerless to help. We got the school involved, we got teachers involved, and yet, it didn't help. I would love to hear your thoughts on how to help a child who's in that situation, I think, when I was growing up, I never listened to the word bullying. We just didn't talk about it that way. When I look back at my childhood, I was not a popular child, I had no social skills. I was bookish, I was awkward. And people made fun of me a lot. I remember in the girl's room in third grade, girls climbing over the top of the stall to make fun of me, on the toilet. They make up rhymes about me on the playground. In seventh grade, they made fun of me, because I did well in school, which was not a popular thing to do. I mean, one positive thing I see in my daughter's schools is actually the most popular kids also are the ones who work the hardest. And I'm like that was not the case. When I was little, it was cool to be a slacker. It was not fantastic to work hard. Now, it seems that the sequel has another accolade to place under its belt. After Wakanda Forever's massive $381 million debut, Disney has officially passed $3 billion at the box office for the year. This marks the 14th year that the studio has hit that milestone, and it passes last years $2.9 billion total. The film combined with Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, Thor: Love and Thunder, Lightyear, and Death on the Nile all contributed to the final number.   Thunderbolts Will Drop a Bomb on the Marvel Cinematic Universe https://gizmodo.com/thunderbolts-david-harbour-mcu-movie-1849776448 Marvel's antihero team-up Thunderbolts is reuniting an oddball family, as David Harbour's Red Guardian and Florence Pugh's Yelena Belova join forces again and build on their complicated relationship established in 2021's Black Widow.   Although he has not yet received a script for the Marvel Cinematic Universe project, Harbour spoke to io9 while on the press tour for his new holiday movie, Violent Night, and shared that he knows "the arc of the movie and how it functions...and it's super cool. The idea is really cool." The actor, best known for his role in Stranger Things, then expressed his excitement about working with Pugh again. "What [director Jake Schreier] wants to do with Florence's character is very interesting and how I factor into how we develop our relationship is very interesting," he said. Their troubled father-daughter dynamic was teased in Black Widow, but Harbour hints that it will be explored even further in "this movie that's, you know, kind of ragtag."   ‘Wakanda Forever' Costume Designer Ruth Carter on Film's New Water Sets: ‘I Had to Weigh Costumes Down so They Wouldn't Float' https://variety.com/2022/artisans/awards/wakanda-forever-black-panther-costume-design-production-design-cinematography-ruth-carter-1235429898/ Black Panther: Wakanda Forever costume designer Ruth E. Carter and production designer Hannah Beachler revealed that the film's costumes required weights for its underwater scenes.   In an interview with Variety, Carter shared that since a good portion of the film takes place in the undersea city of Talokan, the crew had to test how the costumes they designed interacted with the water. Weights were eventually added to the outfits to ensure they looked as intended under the ocean. "For the water scenes, we had a 20-foot tank in which we did tests," Carter said. Richtman, a proven source of reliable leaks, gave a simple, one-word reply: "Likely." This revelation should please fans of the original show. The former Daredevil series stands out from typical Marvel fare with its gritty, realistic depiction of violence and the physical and emotional toll being Daredevil puts on Matt Murdock, the man behind the mask. "So, as of now, I am not a part of it," the actor confirmed. Woll starred as Karen Page, Matt Murdock's secretary and love interest on the Netflix show that was canceled after three seasons. Woll shared that she would be "thrilled" to be on the show and felt like there was more for her character to explore. "They know where I am. Like I said, I love the character Karen Page. I love telling that story. But it is up to them what kind of story that they want to tell," she added. Aubrey Plaza is one of them and according to some casting details it can be assumed that Ali Ahn is also part of them."   MCU – TIMELINE   Will the MCU Ever End? "To me, Marvel movies are just movies," said the filmmaker. "Our source material is just… It'd be like saying, 'Hey, are movies about books gonna go on forever?' Probably." Despite this confidence, Moore elaborated by emphasizing that Marvel Studios can't rest easy with the established formula. "I think we have to continue to… We can't sit back on our laurels. We can't think we have the answers. I would do anything for that woman. She's a genius," Reynolds explained. Unfortunately, though the Deadpool star would love to have the iconic singer included in the film, it doesn't seem to be on the cards.   RUMOR: Deadpool 3 Will Revisit Previous Fox Franchises Including Fantastic Four https://www.cbr.com/deadpool-3-revisit-previous-fox-movies-fantastic-four-rumor/ Deadpool 3 will reportedly see the Merc with the Mouth visiting some of Fox's superhero franchises. While it's currently unknown how Deadpool 3 will integrate these franchises into its plot, the report specifies that he'll arrive in the X-Men movies as well as the 2005 Fantastic Four film. When asked if he'd be open to playing Red Guardian "over and over" in future projects, Harbour was enthusiastic. "I do. I love Red Guardian. I can't wait to pull back the layers. The hour-long making-of documentary offers a behind-the-scenes look at the production for Werewolf by Night. Jennifer Steil is an award-winning author, journalist, and teacher who lives in many countries (currently Uzbekistan/France/UK). Her most recent novel, Exile Music, won the Grand Prize in the international Eyelands 2020 Book Awards and was a finalist for the 2021 Lambda Literary Lesbian Fiction Award, the Bisexual Book Award, and the Annie Award. It explores an overlooked slice of World War II history, following Jewish musicians who flee Vienna in 1939 to seek refuge in the Bolivian Andes. The Jerusalem Post called it "one of the best novels I have read in a long time,” and the Pittsburgh Jewish Chronicle wrote, “In a sea of Holocaust literature, “Exile Music” stands out as wholly original and engaging.” Her previous novel, The Ambassador's Wife, won the 2013 William Faulkner-William Wisdom Creative Writing Competition Best Novel award, the 2016 Phillip McMath Post Publication book award, and was a finalist for the Bisexual Book Award and the Lascaux Novel Award. Her first book, The Woman Who Fell From the Sky, is a critically lauded memoir about running a newspaper in Yemen. Jennifer has also published many short stories and essays. It had long been my dream to become a writer and to live abroad, but I couldn't figure out how to achieve it until I was - almost accidentally - invited to move to Yemen to run a newspaper. In Yemen, I discovered the life I had always wanted - I sold my first book, met my husband, had my daughter. Since then we've lived in Jordan, Bolivia, London, France, and Uzbekistan. That's what happened when Jennifer Steil stopped by the Jam Bunker to talk with Brad about her latest novel, Exile Music. Although Jennifer wanted to be a professional dancer and actress, her life steered her towards writing. That path took her through two graduate programs, jobs at newspapers in the United States, and on to Yemen where she became editor-in-chief of the Yemen Observer in 2006. Jennifer Steil is an award-winning American writer, journalist and actor currently living with her husband and 5-year-old daughter in La Paz, Bolivia. On Thursday August 20 at 7:30 pm, Jennifer will speak at Eagle Harbor Books at 157 Winslow Way East, Bainbridge Island. There, she will read passages from her novel and answer questions about her fascinating and exciting international adventures, and her life as a Western woman living in an Eastern culture. Jennifer's first book, "The Woman Who Fell From the Sky" is a memoir about her adventures as editor of the Yemen Observer newspaper. The book received numerous accolades and is on National Geographic Traveler's recommended reading list. Since 1997, she has worked as a reporter, writer, and editor for newspapers and magazines in the US and abroad. She holds an MFA in creative writing and fiction and an MS in Journalism. After four years in Yemen and four months in Jordan, she and her family moved to London. Theatre was her first love and she spent four years working as an actor in Seattle. She became increasingly frustrated with the dearth of female voices in the theater world. She moved to Bolivia with her family in September 2012 where her husband is Ambassador to the European Union. Jennifer's new book and debut novel, "The Ambassador's Wife", won the Creative Writing Competition Best Novel award. Set in the Middle East, it is full of intrigue and danger.  Critics have called it “Thrillingly suspenseful and deeply sensuous,” while expanding awareness of different cultures.
