Number one Texas escapes Knoxville with a 20-17 win over Tennessee and the whole crew is in the room to break it all down. Rod Babers, Jeremy Hills, Fozzy Whittaker, Alex Okafor, Mark Higgins, and Nick Shuley go through every angle of a game that saw Colin Simmons break the Texas record with 5.5 sacks as part of a historic ten sack defensive performance. The crew breaks down the beautiful rush plan that used Simmons as a standing Joker to create chaos for a freshman quarterback, Lance Jackson's coming out party, and why this defense might be a top ten unit in the country. On the other side, six sacks allowed, turnovers, penalties, and a passing game that still has not found its rhythm. Rod demands more from the offense and compares it to a star studded movie with a bad plot.4-0 heading into the bye week. Jeremiah Watkins speaks with Nerdtropolis Mayor Sean Tajipour for a full interview about his newest stand-up special, CRAZY PIZZA, and voicing the Joker in DC SUPER HERO GIRLS. Watkins explains how the special's title grew from an improv game his wife taught during the pandemic and how its '90s pizza-parlor set gives the comedy hour its own identity. He also reveals the hidden objects placed throughout the set, including scissors, skulls, a belt and other “toppings” connected to his jokes.Watkins opens up about turning marriage, fatherhood and personal experiences into comedy while respecting his family's boundaries. He explains how he connects stories that may not initially fit together and why CRAZY PIZZA captures a specific chapter of his life as a husband and father. Watkins also performs his Donald Trump impression and breaks down the musicality, practice and natural instincts behind finding a recognizable voice.Watkins reflects on growing up with BATMAN: THE ANIMATED SERIES, Mark Hamill's influence and the honor of joining the small group of performers who have voiced the Joker. Matthew Toffolo interviewed filmmaker Joe James Clarke about his fan fiction film "Gotham's Royal," which was accepted into the WILDsound Festival. Joe discussed his directorial debut, explaining that he wanted to create something stylized and different from his usual acting work. He described how the film takes Batman back to his 1940s noir roots with a black and white aesthetic, featuring a poker game between Bruce Wayne and various DC villains, including Lex Luthor, the Penguin, and Harvey Dent. Joe detailed the casting process, noting that he held auditions for the main roles rather than casting friends, and highlighted the work of his crew, including cinematographer Drew Suppa, production designer John Cabinale, and VFX supervisor Jonathan McClintick. He also explained the film's surprise ending reveal of the Joker and Harley Quinn and discussed his plans to potentially move into horror filmmaking next. —- Subscribe to the podcast: https://twitter.com/wildsoundpod https://www.instagram.com/wildsoundpod https://www.facebook.com/wildsoundpod —— Love for you to try the Indy Film Festival AP. • Daily new film festival of the best new films from around the world. In this episode of Sports the NEMO Way we bring the best Denver Athletes to the table for discussion. Here we are back in Denver for another episode, but this time we have a lot of franchises to talk about. We have the Nuggets, we have Rockies, we have the Broncos. Two pretty big franchises with a lot of pretty great players, and then we have the Rockies who might have a player. So tune in for this episode and see just how many we got right. Have a great day and we'll see you all next week... Peace.

Aside from Batman himself, and maybe Dick Grayson, no other character from the world of Gotham has appeared more than the Joker. And in his 85 plus years, he has had some weird adventures. And some that are so damn weird that they wind up in their own episode here. The most normal is the one where Joker inherits a bunch of money and retires from crime for, like, five minutes. From there, the Joker makes a deal with the devil who looks like a 70s Elton John. And then it's a series of back-ups that are so bonkers that they made Fox News. Christopher Nolan is one of the few directors in the world of film using traditional techniques mixed with practical modern effects to make his movies. For years he was accused of whitewashing and downplaying women alongside of criticism for telling his stories in a non-linear fashion with variations in the audio. He is also criticized for relying on explanatory dialogue instead of an overload of stimulating images. Suddenly, however, his movie The Odyssey is being called "woke" for the casting of racially-different actors and for interpreting the original story in a modern way, even portraying Odysseus as weak because the movie relied on the psychology of trauma. Ironically, the so-called diverse cast saw very little air time, and some of them were not horrible performances. Portraying Odysseus as more human and interpreting his journey through a modern lens is not in any way new to a Nolan film. Most of his films rely heavily on psychology and somewhat unorthodox dialogue. Some castings don't work, but others do; like when he was criticized for casting Heath Ledger as the Joker, which turned out to be one of the single greatest performances in cinema history. When asked about the "woke" accusations, Nolan doubled down on his body of work and made no attempt to justify it based on politics, race, gender, etc. In other words, it appears that accusations of "woke" are based on nothing but broken, hollow arguments that are looking for conspiracies and something to be angry about. In this case, it is coming from the right rather than the left. Furthermore, Nolan uses practical effects to create plane crashes, atomic bombs, and even giant cyclopes, instead of relying on CGI, something that again, ironically, something the anti-woke people are usually complaining about in Hollywood needing to change. *The is the FREE archive, which includes advertisements. Batman Day lands on September 19, and Warner Bros. is putting three Batman movies back on big screens for the weekend. Tim Burton's Batman, Batman: Mask of the Phantasm, and The LEGO Batman Movie are all screening at Regal, AMC, and Cinemark.I go through all three and make the case for each one. Michael Keaton's 1989 Batman is the live action version everything after it got measured against. Mask of the Phantasm came out of Batman: The Animated Series with Kevin Conroy in the cowl, and it carries a twist I am not spoiling here. The LEGO Batman Movie is the one people argue about, and I will defend it, Joker included. Scott Sigler returns with Beasts Beyond the River, and Brian and Justin immediately try to saddle him with Kentucky Vikings, a cursed Joker movie, and a Blazing Saddles remake. Scott recounts his Les Grossman turn at DragonCon, the boys debate where your less-than-five-star reviews should go, and a discussion of football jet lag gives way to supposedly fictional traffic stops involving David Blaine's levitation and a driver's license disappearing inside a car door.

To celebrate Matinee Heroes reaching 500 episodes, we're revisiting another milestone from the show's history. This special Encore Presentation brings back Episode 125: Batman, originally released on May 18, 2019 and recorded live at Comicpalooza. Craig Price and Alan Cerny are joined by Heather from Nerdy Bitches to look back at Tim Burton's 1989 Batman, the film that helped redefine the superhero movie for a new generation. Recorded in front of a live convention audience, the episode captures the energy, humor, and larger-than-life atmosphere that made this one of Matinee Heroes' most memorable early live shows. BATMAN Having witnessed his parents' brutal murder as a child, millionaire philanthropist Bruce Wayne fights crime in Gotham City disguised as Batman, a costumed hero who strikes fear into the hearts of villains. But when a deformed madman who calls himself "The Joker" seizes control of Gotham's criminal underworld, Batman must face his most ruthless nemesis ever while protecting both his identity and his love interest, reporter Vicki Vale. Alan, Craig and special guest Heather (@NerdyBitchesPod on twitter) talk dual identities, wasted resources, Nerdy Bitches and the movie Batman Live! from Comicpalooza on this week's Matinee Heroes.

Re-Issue ep from 4th Feb 2020 - Today on the Toy Power Podcast, we welcome another international guest all the way from Canada, Mr Colin Betts! While he's a Patreon and passionate toy collector he also delves into a oft-forgotten world of Toy Catalogues. But these aren't the small paper ones you get with your toys, these are big retail tomes sent by Hasbro, Mattel etc to help sell their wares in a time before PDFs! Colin gives us the history, some wonderful stories and tricks of the trade when it comes to these important historical documents. Some might be cut-out, some might be smelly or eve tattoo'd but they all form a wonderful tapestry of the toys we love - and even the toys that never were! Oh what could have been.... Colin then puts on his economics hat with a 3min break down of what makes the toy industry great and bad that will melt your face! Follow him and all that he does on IG @fairplaythings and @toycatalogmemories. Don Hartley has stumbled upon an invention that could make him fabulously wealthy—and give anyone who controls it the power to watch anyone, anywhere. Before he cashes in, he must decide whether some discoveries are simply too dangerous to share. The Vidiot by Ib Melchior. That's next on The Lost Sci-Fi Podcast. Another day, another author making his debut on the podcast. Ib Melchior was born in Copenhagen, Denmark, in 1917. His father was a celebrated opera singer who performed throughout Europe and the Americas from the 1920s through the 1940s, including appearances with the Chicago Opera, San Francisco Opera and the Metropolitan Opera in New York. Near the end of his career, he also appeared in character roles in MGM musicals. Ib spoke six languages, and his fascination with movies began when he was only 11 years old. He saw the 1928 silent film The Man Who Laughs, featuring Conrad Veidt as Gwynplaine, whose striking appearance later helped inspire the visual creation of the Joker. Melchior walked away from the movie knowing exactly what he wanted to do—direct films. In the late 1950s, Melchior met producer Sidney W. Pink, who told him he could direct a movie if he wrote the screenplay. There was just one problem: Melchior had never written a screenplay. But he wanted to direct, so he wrote one, and the result was The Angry Red Planet. That launched a career in science fiction movies that would last for years. Melchior went on to write and direct science fiction films including Reptilicus, Robinson Crusoe on Mars, and The Time Travelers. He also wrote for television, including an episode of The Outer Limits. Before his movie career took off, Melchior wrote three science fiction short stories. Later, he added two science fiction novels to a remarkably varied career that began with an 11-year-old boy sitting in a movie theater, already dreaming about getting behind the camera. His first short story appeared in Fantastic Universe in March 1956 on page 51, The Vidiot by Ib Melchior… Next on The Lost Sci-Fi Podcast, The people of Kana refuse to abandon their forgotten world, and Kenyon is determined to discover what could make them choose isolation over the stars. Deep beneath the strange islands, something ancient has already decided who belongs on Kana—and who will never leave. This Week on the Toy Power Podcast; we have a few scheduling conflicts, so it's just Ben & Scot in the studio; with the always entertaining Mr. Davey Damaged joining us as well!! Kicking things into gear, we discuss the latest News that is hitting our radar. With a heart-felt tribute to some of the recent passings; we reflect on what some of these larger than life people have done; & how each of them will be missed. Then we chat towards the very lack-luster reveal of King Hiss from the MOTU Chronicles line. Peacemaker from Mezco 1:12 is arguably the definitive Toy version of this character we will likely ever get! McFarlane wrap things up with their Wave 16 of DC Super Powers - with an interesting line-up of Characters. But with this being the finale; who are we missing from this overall toy line-up? PlayStation One are getting the Lego treatment; which honestly looks great; but what is with their Easter Egg game choices?! Then we pivot into a general chat towards Latest Scores & then followed up with Reading / Playing / Watching. An overall fun episode - if not for Ben continually tripping over his sentences! Hello everyone and welcome back to another episode of Unseen Incidents. This week we're tier-ranking the transfer windows of the Premier League's big six, asking who has done the best work ahead of the new season. How costly is Arsenal's lack of star power? Does City's rebuild actually make them better? How could Chelsea's front three pose a problem for Alonso? And can Spurs and United push on at all? Then we open up the burn book, this week discussing sparkling sake, refurbished tech, and locksmiths. If you enjoy the podcast please consider subscribing at patreon.com/Patrickvs.

Profoundly cold and unsympathetic and manipulative coverage from The Press concerning a tragic natural disaster. In China, scientists grace the digital billboards, but on the otherhand, in America, we shoot each other a lot, with guns. And also, what if the Joker was a Chinaboo?Trump probably has Lewy Body Dementia and always fast forwards to the fight scenes in Patch Adams.Fact: Ben Gvir and Michelle Bachman and Randy Fine and Mike Fucklebee all got together and rolled around in their own shit while screaming slurs at limbless children. Du Quoin, Illinois is having a rough week, and this one hits close to home.Massive downtown fire in Rafe's hometown of Du Quoin. Multiple businesses were destroyed, including Home Lumber Company, BJ's Garden Inn and other properties along the downtown business district. Making an already difficult situation even worse, the fire happened during the Du Quoin State Fair, one of the biggest economic weeks of the year for the small Southern Illinois community.Rafe talks about seeing the damage to a downtown that's already watched businesses disappear over the years, while Lern shares her own memories of growing up nearby and planning entire summers around the Du Quoin State Fair. Thankfully, the transcript reports no injuries or deaths, but the loss is still devastating for a town of roughly 6,000 people. So the crew sends some love south and encourages everybody heading to the fair to support Du Quoin however they can. Then, eventually, the daily comedy machine starts malfunctioning again. The conversation turns into a full Southern Illinois State Fair nostalgia session, complete with Wiz Khalifa, Russell Dickerson, demo derbies, Night Ranger and Rafe remembering the time he watched Joe Diffie put on what felt like a full stadium concert inside a tiny Budweiser beer tent. Rafe also officially declares the Du Quoin State Fair superior to the Illinois State Fair in Springfield. Complaints may be directed to somebody who cares. From there, September 3rd's collection of completely necessary national holidays introduces National Welsh Rarebit Day, which briefly causes confusion over whether anyone is eating a rabbit. They're not. It's cheese. That discovery leads directly to Worcestershire sauce, pork-steak marinades and the shocking revelation that Rafe doesn't own a grill. On Labor Day weekend. We don't make the rules, but we're pretty sure that's grounds for deportation from the Midwest.Luckily, Lern has an even worse idea. After talking with Tim Virgin, she introduces a potential reality-dating concept called Rock Hard Island. The premise involves eligible bachelors from St. Louis rock radio, women applying to date them and enough trash-TV energy to immediately attract hypothetical sponsors. There isn't actually an island involved, but that's apparently a minor logistical concern. Even more alarming: sales is interested.Nothing bad has ever happened after those three words. The crew also takes a trip through September 3rd history, covering everything from the beginning of World War II to Vince Lombardi, Iron Maiden's Powerslave, Prince's massive Warner Bros. deal, Charlie Sheen's 1995 marriage and the founding of eBay.Then Lern takes over for Crap on Celebrities with a packed entertainment rundown. There's a documentary about late Rush drummer Neil Peart featuring Geddy Lee, Alex Lifeson and fellow drummers including Stewart Copeland, Chad Smith and Danny Carey. Rush is also headed back to St. Louis, giving Moon another chance to see a band he thought he'd never get to experience after Peart's death. There's Beck news for local record-store fans, TV talk involving Chad Powers and The Gentlemen, a rundown of the upcoming Dancing with the Stars cast, and news involving Wheel of Fortune. The show also discusses an upcoming documentary about The Office and remembers Gloria Steinem and her enormous influence on American journalism and the women's movement. Then we arrive at one of those debates designed specifically to waste productive adults' time: the greatest movie and television villains ever.Darth Vader? Obviously.Annie Wilkes? Terrifying.Voldemort? Sure.Hannibal Lecter? Yep.The Joker? Somehow they almost forgot him.The crew runs through villains ranging from Cruella de Vil and Scar to Patrick Bateman, Magneto, John Doe and Dr. Evil, proving once again that this daily comedy show can turn almost any entertainment list into an argument. Finally, Moon breaks down which music genres are supposedly most popular in different states based on search trends, with pop leading the country, metal putting up an impressive fight and Sleep Token emerging as a heavily searched metal act. Then it's birthday time, which means any remaining professionalism is escorted from the building. We've got Charlie Sheen, King Scott's twin Shaun White, Kaia Gerber, Todd Lewis, Steve Jones and more before Rafe handles the final birthday honors and everybody briefly convinces themselves that Amber Lynn is dead. She isn't.Great work, team. It's a show that starts with genuine concern for a Southern Illinois community, takes a detour through State Fair memories, somehow invents a trashy St. Louis dating show, argues about fictional villains and ends with an accidental celebrity death announcement. In other words, another perfectly normal episode of daily comedy from The Rizzuto Show.Follow The Rizzuto Show → linktr.ee/rizzshow for more from your favorite daily comedy show.Connect with The Rizzuto Show Comedy Podcast online → 1057thepoint.com/RizzShow.Hear The Rizz Show daily on the radio at 105.7 The Point | Hubbard Radio in St. Louis, MO.See Privacy Policy at https://art19.com/privacy and California Privacy Notice at https://art19.com/privacy#do-not-sell-my-info.
