In this episode, I'm diving into something that's absolutely crucial for keeping your relationship vibrant and alive - playfulness! While we're naturally playful during courtship, many couples lose that spark once they settle into the routine of committed life. But here's the thing - playfulness isn't about expensive vacations or grand gestures; it's about using your imagination to create magical moments in everyday life.In this episode, you'll discover:- Why maintaining playfulness is vital for long-term relationship satisfaction, and how the "functionality trap" can slowly drain the joy from your partnership- Simple, practical ways to inject spontaneity into your relationship - from impromptu dance sessions to surprise love notes (even if being playful doesn't come naturally to you)- How committed relationships can actually become a safe space for exploring new sides of yourself and taking chances with your partnerHere's something I've noticed in my years as a marriage therapist: I've never seen a couple's relationship get worse from adding more playfulness - it always improves! Whether you're naturally playful or not, this episode will give you actionable ways to bring more joy, spontaneity, and connection into your relationship, even on a regular Tuesday at 6 PM.Join me as we explore how to keep that playful spark alive in your relationship. Because remember, we're not just making relationships work - we're making them thrive with love, connection, and yes, a healthy dose of fun!Time Line:00:00 The importance of playfulness in relationships00:39 Why couples become too functional01:16 Using imagination to create playful moments02:25 Making playfulness a daily priority03:21 How committed relationships can liberate usTAKE ACTION:Todd Creager, LCSW, LMFTTodd is a relationship expert and therapist in Huntington Beach. What happens when the spring break destination we've seen on TV doesn't match the reality? In this episode, I'm coming clean about my own Cabo San Lucas spring break—one that turned out to be far more soulful and surprising than the party-centric version we've come to expect from shows like Laguna Beach. From camel rides along the coast to unforgettable local meals, and reconnecting with familiar faces year after year, Cabo was so much more than just a spring break hotspot. I also dive into the Cabo vs. Cancun debate, comparing these two iconic destinations—and exploring how media plays a huge role in shaping our travel choices and expectations. If you've ever been influenced by a TV show, movie, or social media post to visit a place, this episode is for you. Let's unpack how media-influenced travel can sometimes surprise us—in the best way.✨ Use code BUSYGALLIVANTINGPODCAST for 10% off your first order at Local Eclectic for unique, high-quality jewelry made for golden hour selfies and beachside dinners.
In this episode of The Let's Talk About Love & Sex and Infidelity Podcast, I'm diving deep into the three most common ways partners lose trust in their relationships. As a relationship expert who has worked with thousands of couples, I've seen how these trust-breaking behaviors can damage even the strongest bonds - but I've also witnessed remarkable healing when partners are willing to do the work. What you'll discover in this episode:• Why "little lies" aren't so little - Learn how even small deceptions can create damaging parent-child dynamics and why honesty truly is the best policy in relationships• The devastating impact of broken promises - Understand how reliability issues erode trust over time and practical ways to rebuild it through "under-promising and over-delivering"• The deep wounds of betrayal and infidelity - Gain insight into why cheating cuts so deep and what's really happening psychologically when partners betray trustFrom my years of experience helping couples heal, I'll share why these trust issues often stem from immaturity and how partners can "grow up" to create more honest, reliable relationships. Whether you're struggling with trust issues or want to prevent them, this episode provides crucial understanding about what makes relationships feel safe and secure.Ready to make your relationship more trustworthy? Join me for this honest conversation about building and maintaining trust with the one you love. Lauren Olsen, formerly known as Alex H. during her time on the MTV reality series *Laguna Beach: The Real Orange County*, was born Lauren Hooser in California. She gained recognition as a cast member on the show, which premiered in 2004 and followed the lives of high schoolers in Laguna Beach, including stars like Lauren Conrad and Kristin Cavallari. Olsen adopted the nickname “Alex H.”—derived from her middle name, Alexandria—when she moved to Laguna Beach at age 9 and began using it in school. Contrary to speculation, this choice was not influenced by MTV to differentiate her from other Laurens on the show; it was a personal decision from her childhood. After *Laguna Beach* ended in 2006, Olsen stepped away from the spotlight, where she now lives with her husband, two children. https://www.instagram.com/lalaolsen/

But when Lord Caitanya Mahāprabhu comes to the world, "pātra apātra-vicāra nāhi," He doesn't care who the recipient is, whether their mode is goodness or their mode is ignorance. And we find that people everywhere are astounded by the mercy of Caitanya Mahāprabhu when it comes upon them. In fact, several years ago, when I was here in Laguna Beach, this jewel by the ocean, this temple that is a jewel by the ocean, we went out on book distribution, then out several times together, and then one day we went to an area where there were tire shops, pizza parlors, hair salons, and nail salons, because they are ubiquitous in the world. And we also found a bar. And are we allowed to walk into a bar as Vaiṣṇavas? Don't answer. I'm going to answer for you. Everybody: pātra apātra-vicāra nāhi, nāhi sthānāsthāna, yei yāṅhā pāya, tāṅhā kare prema-dāna." Seven of us approached the bar right here in SoCal, Orange County, on a fine, sunny morning, wearing dhōtīs, tilaka, and sārīs, and we walked up to the bar, and there was a man taking a breather, leaning against the door on the outside. I looked at him, he looked at me. No words were exchanged. He pulled out $20 and gave it to me. We went in the bar and went table to table, and we could perceive that there was a sense of relief from the people there and their absolute boredom doing the same old thing, not being able to come out of the rut, that we were there, intervening in their lives. When we left that place, I turned to the devotees, and I said, "Why did that guy hand me $20 with no questions asked, no words spoken?" And one devotee, with a very knowing look on his face, said, "He felt embarrassed." And this is the embarrassment of the soul here in the material world hanging around, loitering. The whole material world is a Costco parking lot, or even worse, a 7-11), and there's a sign on every one of them that says, "Don't hang around, buddy. We're here to make money," and that's the material world. When people get tired of that and they want something heartfelt, something real, a relationship that's eternal and perceivably loving, not tit for tat, they surrender to Lord Caitanya. He's there, ready to reach out to us, and anyone who comes in contact with that mood of the devotees who are pātra apātra-vicāra nāhi, they don't care who you are. They just know you're a spirit soul inside, and they want to give you the same access to the spiritual world as they got. And when they realize that's what we're doing, they want to join. Welcome back to the Alt Goes Mainstream podcast. We had a chance to sit down with Blue Owl Co-CEO Marc Lipschultz recently at their Nest Network Summit for RIAs and private banks in Laguna Beach. It was a perfect setting to discuss Blue Owl's incredible growth, which has been in part due to its unique and focused partnership with the wealth channel.Blue Owl is one of the industry's largest alternative asset managers and has charted an impressive growth path in the nine years since its founding. Blue Owl has scaled to over $250B of AUM and has proven to be one of the top firms at raising capital from the wealth channel.Marc is a private markets industry veteran who has been instrumental in building not just one, but two of the industry's biggest players. He spent over two decades at KKR, serving on the firm's Management Committee, and as the Global Head of Energy and Infrastructure after joining the firm as one of the first 20 employees. He then partnered with Blackstone GSO Founder Doug Ostrover and Goldman Sachs Partner and Co-Head of Leveraged Finance Craig Packer to co-found Owl Rock Capital Partners, the predecessor firm to Blue Owl's Credit platform. Owl Rock combined with Dyal Capital Partners to become the publicly traded entity Blue Owl in May 2021 and has since grown to over $250B in AUM and $2.2B in revenue.Owl Rock and now, Blue Owl's, flight is emblematic of the evolution of alternative asset managers. Marc and I had a fascinating conversation. We discussed: How Blue Owl's growth highlights trends that have propelled alternative asset management into the mainstream. Why scale matters.Their focus on private credit, data centers, and digitalization.Their focus on private wealth. The power of permanent capital. Thanks Marc for coming on the show to share your wisdom and expertise in private markets. You can also see a recent Q&A with Marc on AGM here.A number of the themes discussed by Marc in the podcast and Q&A appear in Blue Owl's 2025 Market Outlook. Newt talks with Mayor Alex Rounaghi and Fire Chief Niko King from the City of Laguna Beach, California about the devastating fires in Los Angeles County, which have burned over 40,000 acres, resulting in at least 24 deaths and the displacement of more than 100,000 people. The fires have destroyed over 12,000 structures, including homes, businesses, and schools.
