From humble beginnings in the NYU dorms to working alongside some of the biggest stars of the last decade, today's producer duo guests sit at the center of music culture. They became friends during the first week of freshman year at NYU in 2011, bonding over music and genre collisions. They're musical omnivores who do their best to inhabit the world of the sound they're working on, from afrobeats to grime, latin trap to garage, country to pop. That appetite manifests itself in their work on Sheck Wes' 5x Platinum "Mo Bamba,” on country star Kane Brown's recent genre-bending collaboration with R&B powerhouse H.E.R., "Blessed & Free,”and "Good in Bed" from Dua Lipa's Grammy-winning sophomore album Future Nostalgia. Their palette expands from there: alt-rock anthem "Hero" by Weezer, "High,” a heartfelt ballad by Mark Ronson and Miley Cyrus, James Blake's gorgeous single “Life Is Not The Same,” AJ Tracey and Mabel's UK hit “West 10,” and nearly half of Kid Cudi's long-anticipated album Man on the Moon III:The Chosen, they have left their mark on nearly every genre. Outside of the US, collaborators include Colombian rapper Feid, who was nominated for a Latin Grammy for his album 19, and international stars like Flohio, Santi, and NSG.In 2020, Daytrip earned their first No. 1 single on the Billboard Hot 100 with the gothic Cudi and Travis Scott collaboration “THE SCOTTS,” setting the stage for a prolific 2021. They executive produced multi-platinum star Lil Nas X's debut album, MONTERO, garnering the duo's second and third Billboard No. 1s singles with “MONTERO (Call Me By Your Name)” and “INDUSTRY BABY (feat. Jack Harlow).” The album's success is a reminder that they can't be boxed in. Moving seamlessly across styles and genres to achieve their career-long mission of creating freely and making music that connects with listeners worldwide. Andrew Thomas Huang is a visual artist and film director known for his music videos for FKA twigs, Björk, Atoms for Peace, and more. We loooove his video for FKA twigs' “Cellophane,” which resurfaced last year amid the hype over Lil Nas X's video for “MONTERO (Call Me By Your Name),” much of which was seemingly heavily lifted from Huang's work. We dive into the comparisons, which leads to a larger discussion on who gets fed vs who makes the decisions in the creative industrial complex. Also – this is the cool part – we talk about finding inspiration in queer folklore and the importance of collaboration. Follow Andrew at @andrewthomashuang and weep while watching “Cellophane”! Rappers Lil Nas X and NBA YoungBoy have joined forces for a new track. On “Late To Da Party,” produced by Take A Daytrip, Lil Nas X takes aim at the 2022 BET Awards, which he didn't receive any nominations for this year. Lil Nas X began teasing the song earlier this week with a roughly 30-second teaser advertising live performances from him and NBA YoungBoy at the awards show, calling it “culture's biggest night.” The rapper had a breakthrough year with two top singles, “Industry Baby” with Jack Harlow and “Montero [Call Me By Your Name].” His debut album Montero was also certified platinum. BET has since responded to Lil Nas X with a statement citing his nomination at the awards last year, as well as his “Old Town Road” performance with Billy Ray Cyrus at the event in 2019: “He was nominated for a best new artist BET Award in 2020, and we proudly showcased his extraordinary talent and creativity on the show twice: He performed ‘Old Town Road' with Billy Ray Cyrus at BET Awards 2019 and his BET Awards 2021 performance was a highlight of our show. No one cheered louder that night than BET.Unfortunately, this year, he was not nominated by BET's voting academy, which is comprised of an esteemed group of nearly 500 entertainment professionals in the fields of music, television, film, digital marketing, sports journalism, public relations, influencers, and creative arts. No one from BET serves as a member of the voting academy. At BET, we are passionate advocates for the wonderful diversity that exists within our community. We are committed to using all of our platforms to provide visibility and inclusion for all of the many intersections of the Black community.” source: https://hypebeast.com/2022/6/lil-nas-x-nba-youngboy-drop-late-to-da-party-stream --- Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/masseffect/support

На втором - "Montero (Call Me By Your Name)", которую записал молодой американский рэпер Лил Нас Экс (Lil Nas X), на третьем - совместная запись Джастина Бибера и певца-рэпера The Kid Laroi под названием "Stay". На первом месте оказался "Rumours" за авторством Fleetwood Mac, на втором - запись Nirvana "Nevermind", на третьем - "Hybrid Theory" Linkin Park, четвёртое место досталось "Appetite for Destruction" Guns N' Roses, пятое - "The Beatles", собственно, The Beatles. The Joe Rogan Experience Call Her Daddy Crime Junkie TED Talks Daily The Daily (Ariana Grande), "For The Night", записанная Pop Smoke при участии Лил Бейби (Lil Baby) и ДаБейби, а на пятом месте обоснавалась "Blinding Lights" The Weeknd. Рейтинг Apple Music включает только отдельные композиции (подборки топовых альбомов нет), зато указаны песни, тексты к которым читали чаще всего: это "Drivers License" Оливии Родриго, её же "Good 4 U", "Dried Flower" в исполнении японского поп-певца Юури (Yuuri), боевик BTS "Dynamite" и песня "Kiss Me More" Doja Cat, записанная вместе с рэп-исполнительницей SZA. Shazam: "Astronaut In The Ocean" - Masked Wolf "Save Your Tears" - The Weeknd "Bad Habits" - Ed Sheeran "Drivers License" - Olivia Rodrigo "Beggin" - Måneskin Рейтинг Яндекс. Millie B "M to the B", Среди других хитов Crazy Frog, вышедших с 2005 по 2009 год, - "Popcorn", "Crazy Frog In the House", "Jingle Bells", "Cha Cha Slide" и другие.
A conversation with the singer, rapper, social-media sensation, and fashion icon about his groundbreaking pop banger "MONTERO (Call Me By Your Name)."
O hlavních ingrediencích dobrého klipu i cestách k velkým zahraničním spolupracím mluví režisérka Jay Walker a režiséři Marek Partyš a Jára Moravec.

Lil Nas X has a talent for creating productive controversy. First with “Old Town Road,” he challenged expectations about blackness in country music. Now with “Montero (Call Me By Your Name),” he takes aim at anti LGBTQ+ messages propagated by the religious dogma from his youth (he came out as gay during Pride 2019). The song describes a romantic encounter without innuendo. Sure it's raunchy, but the song doesn't especially stand out on Billboard where explicit sexual fantasy is commonplace. But his use of religious iconography in his video and merchandise created an immediate backlash. In the video to “Montero,” Lil Nas X rides a stripped pole into hades where he gives a lap dance to Satan (also played by Lil Nas X). Despite the obvious commentary on repressive orthodoxy, religious conservatives failed to see the subtext. The song became a lightning rod. But as pundits fought on social media about the song's meaning, most critics failed to look into the song's musical references. Produced by Take A Daytrip, the duo behind Shek Wes' “Mo Bamba” and Lil Nas X's “Panini,” “Montero'' mashes up genres that take the listener on a global journey, sharing his message of acceptance across cultures. Rapper Lil Nas X has been promoted to Chief Impact officer with Taco Bell. This is an interesting development, given that #LilNasX has come under fire for promoting imagery in his music videos that have offended quite a few people, mostly those from the African American community. According to Billboard: "Lil Nas X is cooking up a new partnership with Taco Bell. The record-smashing hip-hop artist is today (Aug. 23) unveiled as chief impact officer at the fast food chain, a new relationship that will play out with a menu of activities, collaborations and a company-wide push for his forthcoming album Montero. The 22-year-old artist (real name Montero Lamar Hill) and Taco Bell have history that pre-dates his hits. Back in 2017, the artist was part of the Taco Bell team at an Atlanta-area outlet. Fast-forward to now, and he's riding the success of two global No. 1 hits in "Old Town Road" and "Montero (Call Me By Your Name)."" I don't have any issue with the right to free expression for Lil Nas X and any other rappers that have things to say. I simply want to explore the racial implications of these sorts of corporate partnerships, which tend to come at the exclusion of more meaningful economic relationships with the black community. This is Father Jared Cramer from St. John's Episcopal Church in Grand Haven, Michigan, here with today's edition of Christian Mythbusters, a regular segment I offer to counter some common misconceptions about the Christian faith. Welcome to week three of my series on Christianity and Sex, Drugs, and Rock ‘n' Roll. We've explored the relationship between Christianity and sex, emphasizing the importance of the virtues of respect and equality over principals of purity culture. We've explored the relationship between Christianity and drugs, emphasizing the racial implications of the so-called “War on Drugs” alongside of the importance of greater reflection upon the impact of anything we consume. Now, it's time to tackle the third: Rock ‘n' Roll. Of course, in this day and age, there aren't a lot of Christians who think Rock ‘n' Roll is a sin. It's instructive, perhaps, to remember the origins of this phrase, an article in a 1969 edition of LIFE magazine that listed sex, drugs, and rock as the “sacraments” of the counter-culture. So, some Christians in the 60s weren't concerned about rock ‘n' roll, per se, they were concerned about the moral implications of the content of rock ‘n' roll. This is clear because, as the historian Randall Stephens describes in his book The Devil's Music: How Christians Inspired, Condemned, and Embraced Rock ‘n' Roll, the origins of rock are found in Christianity. The first generation of rock ‘n' roll artists all had shared backgrounds in Pentecostalism, where they experienced something different than traditional church music at the time. This includes Elvis Presley, Jerry Lee Lewis, Little Richard, Johnny Cash, James Brown, and the great B.B. King. The initial criticisms of Rock ‘n' Roll were because Christians were upset about how artists like Ray Charles and Aretha Franklin were taking sacred music like spirituals and turning those forms into secular music. Stephens points to one Pentecostal youth pastor who said that rock ‘n' roll was “Satan's Pentecost” and who also portrayed rock ‘n' roll concerts “as a kind of inverted Pentecostal worship.” As the genre developed, the criticisms of rock ‘n' roll in white churches began to have racial undertones, being called “jungle music” or “savagery.” When the Beatles came to America, Christians were concerned about their long hair and the hysteria they seemed to inspire in some young girls. Their hair was based on the styles of beatnik existentialists in Germany, and Christians were sure their music would corrupt the youth of today. Now, it's easy for us today to poke fingers at these fears and criticisms. There aren't many Christians I know of who think the music of the Beatles is a danger to young people, but what's interesting is that it did not stop there, of course. When I was a kid, Christian leaders were warning about the Satanic influences of artists like KISS, Alice Cooper, and eventually, Marilyn Manson. What these fears missed was the performative aspect of the genre of “shock rock.” The artists sought to perform outlandish and shocking acts so as to push the edges, to get people to question their assumptions, and, of course, sometimes just for the attention Christian leaders were only too happy to give them. Perhaps one of the best current examples of a musician pushing the boundaries (and freaking out some Christians at the same time) is Lil Nas X, the American rapper and singer-songwriter. When his country rap single “Old Town Road” achieved viral popularity and hit number one, he came out as gay—the only artist to come out while having a number one record. His song “Montero (Call Me By Your Name)” and the accompanying video has been claimed to be sacrilegious and devil worship by some. His video for the song is also uncomfortable, but that's largely because of the discomfort many Christians have with male homosexuality… with male bodies. He released a modified pair of Nike's that he called “Satan's Shoes.” The shoes are black and red with a bronze pentagram, filled with "60cc and 1 drop of human blood." What some Christians often miss about Lil Nas X, along with other musicians that have pushed the boundaries over the decades, is that they push the church to ask what is and is not actually OK, what is and is not actually sin. Early rock ‘n' roll confronted the sins of racism and war, pushing boundaries about hairstyle and language in ways that were important, in ways that helped several Christians begin to question what the church had told them about race, about the war in Vietnam, about people who look different than them. Lil Nas X is doing the same thing today, his artistry is satirizing the demonization of LGBTQ people, asking Christians to question if they really think being gay is of the devil… something Lil Nas X was told by the church growing up. In the end, Christianity shouldn't be afraid of Rock ‘n' Roll or modern forms of music that push the edges. Rather, we should be curious about the artistry and message, humble about our own hang-ups and pre-conceptions. And this priest, for one, thinks the artistry of musicians like Lil Nas X is fantastic for the way it forces some parts of the church to confront its own homophobia. Rock on, Lil Nas X. Thanks for being with me. To find out more about my parish, you can go to sjegh.com. Until next time, remember, protest like Jesus, love recklessly, and live your faith out in a community that accepts you but also challenges you to be better tomorrow than you are today.
Lil Nas X Fears Talking About Homophobia In Hip Hop, Britney Spears Dragged on Stage & MORE! Lil Nas X has expressed his fears on talking about the homophobia within Hip Hop. He said to Variety, “The honest truth is, I don't want to speak on a lot of the homophobia within rap because I feel like this is a very dangerous playing field, “ Lil Nas X also said that the homophobia he's experienced during his life has “bred a lot of self-hate” but also “made me stronger” He admitted that a lot of times he does feel unsafe and when asked about his controversial video for ‘Montero (Call Me By Your Name)', he admits “That's when I actually started getting security” He went on to talk about his love life and how he “was actually going to do ‘Euphoria', but I didn't want to take time away from finishing my album,” Britney Spears was “dragged” on stage in Vancouver after complaining there was too much B.C. bud smoke in the air. This is the shocking claim of Valerie Moise, one of the pop star's former back-up dancers, who wrote in a recent Instagram Story: “I remember crying backstage when Miss B did not want to perform because there was a lot of weed smoke in the audience. They dragged her by her arms back to the stage anyway.” According to Moise, Spears “didn't want to perform because if the conservatorship caught drugs in her system they would take away her kids.” Moise did not name the concert venue or tour but fans have deduced it was during The Circus Starring Britney Spears show on April 8, 2009 at GM Place, now Rogers Arena. CTV News reported on April 9, 2009 that Spears walked off stage “citing smoke in the air” but returned after about 30 minutes. A rep for Spears said in a statement after the show that “crew members above the stage became ill due to a ventilation issue.” Joshua Bassett says he has no regrets about coming out publicly earlier this year. He told Attitude. Joshua shared advice for young people who were in the same place he was. Articles by John. R. Legendární britská dívčí skupina Spice Girls slaví 25 let od svého debutu, Velký čísla se tak nabízelo otevřít kultovním trackem Wannabe. K neštěstí Annabelle si ke zmíněnému jubileu Filip o Spice Girls připravil pár zábavných faktů. Žebříčkové návraty tohoto týdne náleží Olivii Rodrigo a rapperovi Lil Nas X, jehož tracku Montero (Call Me By Your Name) se minimálně v amerických rádiích nevyhnete. Hitparádě, která mapuje nejlepší songy léta, však vévodí BTS s máselným hitem.
On the show today… In 2018, actor Bill Cosby was convicted on three counts of aggravated indecent assault and sentenced to three to 10 years in prison. Today he walked free on a technicality. And Fast and Furious 9 is the most-watched movie in the world right now, with the biggest opener of the pandemic era. At the same time, there's been a feud bubbling away between the franchise's biggest stars for years, and one particular reason why no one is really talking about it. Plus, rapper Lil Nas X performed his hit song Montero (Call Me By Your Name) at the BET Awards this week and ended the performance by sharing a kiss with one of his male backup dancers. The performance went viral with many calling it historic for same-gendered representation and at an awards ceremony that celebrates Black excellence. Then Madonna posted a comparison image, linking the performance to her career and it kicked off an important, and controversial, discussion. #CardiB is expecting her second child! During the BET Awards last night she came out for a performance with Migos and showed off her baby bump. She confirmed the announcement with a photo on her socials. This is her second child with husband Offset. While at the BET Awards Cardi was nominated for 5 awards. She went home with Best Collaboration for WAP with Megan Thee Stallion, as well as Video of the Year for the same song. (00:17) #EdSheeran confirmed that he has recorded new vocals on #TaylorSwift's re-recorded version of her song “Everything Has Changed” for Taylor's Version of Red that is coming out. He wrote a song for their 2019 album “Make It Right” so this isn't the first time he has worked with the group (00:49) #LilNasX did an Egyptian performance of his song “Montero (Call Me By Your Name)” while at the BET Awards that was pretty steamy. But it's Lil Nas X, what else did we expect? He was dressed in a pharaoh inspired gold kilt and neck brace combo. The performance included a dance number and he ended with a kiss between him and one of his backup dancers. This brought a ton of praise from fans for using his platform knowing so many eyes were on him to make a statement and we love him for it (01:32) Courtney Love is calling out Olivia Rodrigo, saying that the singer stole an idea from her band Hole's album “Live Through This” album cover that came out in 1994. This episode summarizes a content analysis I did based on responses to the Lil Nas X video "Montero (Call Me By Your Name)" released a couple months ago. The proud queer black artist made waves with this video ripe with religious symbolism, allegory. and allusion. Yet, notably, his identity was not roundly rejected.
Support this channel: thesymbolicworld.com/support/ patreon: www.patreon.com/pageauvideos subscribestar: www.subscribestar.com/jonathan-pageau paypal: www.paypal.me/JonathanPageau In today's video I discuss the symbolic coherence in Lil Nas X's controversial music video titled Montero (Call Me By Your Name) and Marvel Studios' miniseries WandaVision. These timely productions make use of powerful and coherent symbolic imagery that can help us better understand what Satanism and witchcraft are and exactly how they subvert their narrative source: a broken Christianity. Satanism as self-worship is the embodiment, the celebration, of the end of Christianity (self-sacrifice in love for God). Satanism is subversive by nature such that many Satanists don't even believe in Satan - but they don't have to. Satanism has never been about devil worship, rather it's about embodying the revolutionary pattern itself, as we can see in Montero, where he seduces, kills and replaces Satan with himself. In WandaVision we are basically told the story of the Matrix, but this time from the perspective of the Matrix itself as the main character. In her own self-concern the witch wants to prevent “incarnation”, normal relationships between people, so that she can manipulate things to fulfil her own dreams. To do this she gives birth to a “virtual reality”, creating a fantasy world for the sake of being with Vision, the embodiment of artificial intelligence, the “perfect man”. The story is framed for viewers to sympathize not with the many people being tortured under Wanda’s totalitarian system, but with Wanda herself as the exceptional and victimized individual. These examples give us insight into what the opposite of Christianity is and how Christianity is brought to ruin: the tyranny of the individual in all its idiosyncratic passions. In May’s episode of Gender Jawn Anthea Butler discusses her new book about the history of evangelicalism in the U.S., how evangelical faith is politically leveraged as a powerful voting block, and why evangelicals vote overwhelmingly for politicians who do not practice what evangelicals preach. She exposes the practices of white evangelical racism in so-called color-blind Christianity to demonstrate how the battle between religion and politics is far from over and she explains the aesthetic & political brilliance of sliding down a stripper pole to hell in Lil Nas X’s “MONTERO (Call ME By Your Name).” Check out Anthea Butler’s White Evangelical Racism: The Politics of Morality in America, her article “Lil Nas X built ‘Montero’ to be the perfect lightning rod for Christian fears,” and her appearance on the upcoming documentary about Billy Graham The American Experience on PBS premiering May 17th. We're chatting about that music video that got so many people so hot and bothered! Lil Nas X really ruffled some feathers with not only the music video for this single Montero (Call Me By Your Name), but some Satan shoes too. We're not shaking in our boots, though. Lil Nas X talks the success of his smash hit single "Montero (Call Me By Your Name)" and how he was skeptical about releasing the track, Pete Davidson recalls his talk with Eminem following his impersonations of him on 'SNL' and Jesy Nelson reveals the "breaking point" that led to her Little Mix exit.
Sure it’s raunchy, but the song doesn’t especially stand out on Billboard where explicit sexual fantasy is commonplace. But as pundits fought on social media about the song's meaning, most critics failed to look into the song’s musical references. Produced by Take A Day Trip, the duo behind Shek Wes’ “Mo Bamba” and Lil Nas X’s “Panini,” “Montero'' mashes up genres that take the listener on a global journey, sharing his message of acceptance across cultures. People are mad about music again. And we kinda love it! Kiel Hauck is joined by Evan Sawdey of PopMatters to discuss the cultural outrage associated with Lil Nas X's new single "Montero (Call Me By Your Name)", Cardi B and Megan Thee Stallion's Grammy performance of "WAP", along with a general movement back toward backlash. They discuss why outrage about music seemed diminished in recent years, why it appears to have returned, and what kind of conversation should ensue. They also reflect on a previous generation of music backlash, the evolving nature of protest music, and why it's so vital to elevate music and artists that have something important to say. Listen in!

Episode Twenty-Eight: Hell is Hot! And so is the tea we are about to spill on Lil Nas X's new song and video, Montero (Call Me By Your Name). While the release was enough to cause quite the stir across the land, the antics that took place after the drop have solidified Nas's title as a controversial icon [like it or not]. Is he taking advantage of the controversy and running it into the ground? Was the song and video a breakthrough for queer expression in the Gen Z era? Were the wigs up to snuff? Listen in as Caputo and Julio break it all down.

Today's extra special episode is all about the newest Lil Nas X hit: Montero (Call Me By Your Name)! I LOVE IT! Hope you enjoy it (:
So it's clear no one paid attention in English class, never watched a movie or read a poem. But Lil Nas X woke up the Christians huh? I dig into the reaction of Lil Nas X hit "Montero (Call Me By Your Name)" and the hypocrisy of the Christian Church. Full house this week. Springle, Boogs, Snead, Khuru and Kim are joined by new DB family member St. John. We are discussing the controversial new video "Montero (Call Me By Your Name)" by rapper Lil Nas X. Many are offended by the imagery in the video, which touches on what's perceived as Satanic imagery (Lil Nas X is giving the devil a lapdance in the video).
