Han har det travelt, heter Simen Vatne og skal bli milliardær. – Folk her ser nok på meg som en tulling, sier Simen. Men for noen er han Meløys håp. Til sammen har driftige Simen fått støtte som utgjør over 300.000 skattekroner, til to selskap som nå er nedlagt. – Jeg syns på ingen måte det har vært bortkasta penger, sier Espen Maruhn i Meløy utvikling. – Det er ingen andre i Meløy med så stort nettverk. Han har jo til og med egen PR-agent som booker møter for ham. Som 17-åring. Det er jo galskap, sier næringsutvikleren imponert. På en pub i Oslo har Christian Aass (34) lansering på sitt nye selskap Lokalii, et slags Airbnb som tilbyr utypiske opplevelser fra lokale entusiaster. Gavin Sheridan är Director of Innovation på sociala medier-nyhetsbyrån Storyful och medgrundare till bloggen TheStory.ie. På knytkonferensen Fajkon i Göteborg 30 november 2013, gav han förutom sin keynote om hur Storyful arbetar med user generated content även en session där han berättade om arbetet med TheStory.ie. Den handlar om datajournalistik och s k FOI requests (FOI=freedom of information, ungefär motsvarande den svenska offentlighetsprincipen), dvs hur de arbetar med att begära ut information från myndigheter, granska den med hjälp av publiken samt uprätta publika databaser över denna information. Hur gör man en faktakoll på partikelfysik, klimatmodeller och DNA-analyser? Och kan man verkligen lita på vad forskare säger om sina egna, eller andras, resultat? Torill Kornfeldt är en vetenskapsjournalist som fascineras av märkliga djur, spännande teknik och nästan allt som andra tycker är äckligt. Hon har arbetet för Dagens nyheter och Forskning & Framsteg och finns nu på Vetenskapsradion på Sveriges Radio, där hon bland annat gjort programmet Tekniksafari. På knytkonferensen Fajkon, som ägde rum på JMG i Göteborg 30 nov 2013, berättade hon hur hon gör för att försöka undvika de värsta, källkritiska fallgroparna. Och eftersom konferensens tema var källkritik handlar hans föreläsning mycket om hur de arbetar med källkritik och hur de verifierar äktheten i materialet de hittar i sociala medier. Vad skillnaden är jämfört med "vanlig" journalistisk källkritik. Inte mycket. “There’s nothing new here” slår Gavin Sheridan fast. Pecha kucha, TED talks, poetry slam, pitch-slam, för att inte tala om sms, youtube, och bloggande, det finns många olika sätt att kommunicera idag. Men frågan är om tekniken har ändrat retoriken? Och har vi hängt med i den utvecklingen exempelvis i skolan? Hur kort kan en övertygande kommunikation vara? Det frågar sig Retorik som idag gästas av Måns Adler, en av grundarna till Bambuser, programvaran som ser till att din telefon kan skicka film lätt och direkt till nätet. Tekniken användes inte minst i Egypten under kravallerna på Tahrirtorget. Tävlat i vältalighet har man gjort sedan Aristoteles levde på 300-talet före Kristus. Rethoric Slam startade i Stockholm för ungefär ett år sedan och har nu spridit sig till Lund. Vi gick på premiären i Lund och var med när vinnaren av retoriktävlingen utsågs. I juryn - bland andra vår egen Anders Sigrell som du som vanligt också hör i programmet. Missa inte heller vinterns sista tomtevers av Christina Claesson.
