Episode 198: Depeche Mode: Home Video Concert Releases (Part 4) It's a new year, and Brian and Sarah are kicking off their 2026 episodes with the next installment in their look at Depeche Mode home video concert releases. Up for viewing and discussion this time is Tour of the Universe: Barcelona 20/21.11.09, the concert film documenting Depeche Mode's tour for 2009's Sounds of the Universe album. As the title indicates, the movie was filmed in Barcelona over two nights, and it was directed by Russell Thomas. Prior to working with Depeche Mode, Thomas directed concert videos for artists such as Kylie Minogue, Robbie Williams, and Coldplay, so he was no stranger to such projects. However, Brian and Sarah got the impression he was a stranger to using more traditional filming and editing techniques, providing examples of scenes, shots, and editing choices they disliked. The filming and editing style of Russell Thomas made it more difficult than usual for Brian and Sarah to come up with answers to some of the standard questions they ask for each home video concert release, such as "Favorite Dave dance move" and "Favorite Fletch move." Fortunately, some questions were easy to answer, like, "Who wore it best? Favorite onstage garb." They then shared their rankings of all the home concert videos they've watched so far, and there were a couple of changes to the rankings. Since this is the first episode of the year, Brian and Sarah also took some time to recap their goings-on over the past few weeks, including their appearance on the podcast "I've Got That On Vinyl," where they each picked five essential albums from their vinyl collection. They also have news about their podcast studio! Let Brian and Sarah "take you on a trip" back to November 2009 in this episode, and let them know what you think of this concert video too. For decades, the biggest barrier to building a SaaS company was technical talent. You needed a team of engineers to ship a world-class product. David Okuniev, Co-Founder of Typeform, believes that era is over. In this episode of the ProductLed 100 series, Wes Bush sits down with David Okuniev (Founder of Float) and Esben Friis-Jensen (Co-Founder of Userflow) to discuss why "Taste" is the only defensible moat left in the age of AI. David reveals how he is building his new venture, Supercut, by literally talking to Claude Code through a microphone - building full iOS apps in days without knowing Swift. He argues that since AI has commoditized the "How" of building software, the "What" and "Why" (Design and Taste) matter more than ever. They also explore why this shift allows for a "Minimum Viable Team" of just three people, why David regrets scaling Typeform into a large organization, and how to survive as a "Pioneer" founder without getting bogged down by professional management. Key Highlights: 01:21: The "Accidental" Origin: How a client project for a toilet showroom in Barcelona turned into Typeform.03:51: The Viral Launch: Generating 8,000 pre-signups and achieving immediate viral growth without traditional validation.09:53: The Taste Differentiator: Why design is the only way to distinguish yourself 13:00: The "Impulsive" Archetype: David's approach to building products based on intuition rather than validation.21:41: The "Professional CEO" Trap: Why David regrets stepping down and why founders should stay in the driver's seat.37:42: The Float Labs Model: How David runs a product lab to spin out new companies (like Supercut).42:09: The Minimum Viable Team: Why the modern startup only needs a Designer, a Tech Lead, and a Marketer.44:53: The "Tastemaker" Advice: You don't need to be a designer; you just need to be opinionated.
It's neck and neck at the top of La Liga as Real Madrid kept up the pressure on leaders Barcelona with a 2-0 win away at third placed Villarreal while Barca put last week's slip up behind them with a 3-0 win over Real Oviedo at the Camp Nou. Gary and Alex look at another two goals for the rampant Kylian Mbappe, including a panenka penalty he awkwardly dedicated to teammate Brahim Diaz, and there's an absolute stunner from Lamine Yamal to enjoy too. It's transfer season and rumours have begun to swirl over Trent Alexander-Arnold's future at Real Madrid, with some reports suggesting he could be on the way out in the summer. There's more transfer talk on the other half of Madrid with Atletico's Julian Alvarez linked with a return to the Premier League in what would be a sensational January move to Arsenal. Mike shares why ISE 2026 is on track to be the biggest edition yet, how the team plans the show as a year round reinvention cycle, and what “Push Beyond” really means in practice, not just as a theme, but as a commitment to raising the bar for the industry and the attendee experience.A big focus of the episode is how ISE has become more than a trade show inside a convention center. Mike explains the deliberate shift to making ISE a city wide experience that gives something back to Barcelona while also showcasing the best of AV to the public. Joe and Mike unpack how those external activations connect back to the show floor, the conference program, and the broader mission of ISE as a marketplace plus an editorial engine for learning. The conversation also goes deep on vertical strategy and why education continues to grow at ISE. Mike talks about partnering with subject matter experts and communities to curate programming that motivates end users to attend, and Joe shares how HETMA is helping first timers navigate the show and find their people.
