If you thought AI was just about asking ChatGPT for dinner ideas, think again. This episode unpacks the next-level madness of agentic AI—those industrious bots that not only check your emails but might just decide how your healthcare practice runs. We're talking phishing attacks on steroids, decision-making algorithms with questionable judgment, and the jaw-dropping ways AI is working for—and against—us in cybersecurity. It's part fascinating, part terrifying, and 100% worth listening to. More info at HelpMeWithHIPAA.com/520

AI chatbots are being used by millions. But are they safe? Danny Fortson speaks to Ross Harper, the co-founder and CEO of Limbic AI, a company which has developed artificial intelligence software which can be used clinically as part of mental health treatment. Limbic is now used in 50% of NHS trusts, and has its eye on being used in all 50 States by the end of 2025. They talk about the future - and the reckoning he thinks is coming for wellness apps. Plus the Times' US business editor Louisa Clarence-Smith joins Danny to talk about the Figma IPO and the backlash to the UK's Online Safety Act. Hosted on Acast. Send us a textWhat happens when artificial intelligence makes it increasingly simple to create thousands of fake identities? In the world of Web3, this isn't a theoretical question. It's a pressing challenge that threatens to undermine the fair distribution of resources and community governance.Yan Ketelers, CMO at Holonym (the foundation behind human.tech), joins us to discuss how the proliferation of bot activity and Sybil attacks is diluting value that should flow to actual humans. "A single entity can collect a thousand times the airdrop they should be entitled to get," Jan explains, highlighting how this pattern creates a system where honest participants find their rewards and voting power dramatically reduced. The conversation explores human.tech's innovative approach to solving this contradiction through zero-knowledge protocols. Their ecosystem—consisting of Human Passport (formerly Gitcoin Passport), the upcoming Human Wallet, and the Human Network backend infrastructure enables users to prove their humanity without compromising privacy. This technology has already proven valuable for projects like Story Protocol in ensuring airdrops reach genuine community members.Perhaps most exciting is human.tech's solution to one of crypto's persistent user experience problems: wallet recovery without seed phrases. By splitting keys across network nodes that can be reconstituted when needed, they eliminate a significant barrier to mainstream adoption. "We don't believe everyone should do self-custody and write down their seed phrase, then hide it somewhere in a field," Yan shares, outlining their vision for more accessible crypto ownership.Beyond crypto applications, human.tech's partnership with RefUnite is helping refugees establish digital identities and receive aid without requiring traditional identity documents. This practical application ensures humanitarian assistance reaches intended recipients rather than being diverted through intermediaries or fraudulent accounts. As AI continues to advance, the distinction between authentic and artificial identities grows increasingly blurred. Join us to discover how Human Tech is establishing a framework where individuals maintain control of their digital identities while still being able to prove their humanity when needed.
We are on the cusp of a significant transformation in the world of work, with HR and Talent teams currently at the frontline of change. CHROs face unprecedented questions about the impact of agentic AI on the structure of organisations and the continuing need for agility and adaptation as skills go in and out of relevance at an ever-accelerating pace. The most innovative CHROs are looking in two directions - collaborating with IT teams in entirely new ways and studying how product teams operate with their test-learn-iterate mindset. Over the last few years, talent acquisition has often been more exposed to constant tech experimentation and workflow optimization than their HR colleagues. So could TA Leaders play a significant role in driving this workforce transformation? My guest this week is Amy Schultz, VP Market Development & Operations for RPO at Korn Ferry ANZ. Amy brings a unique perspective from a career spanning agency, RPO, and senior in-house roles at LinkedIn and Canva. In our conversation, she shares her belief that TA's natural product mindset and tech experience well-position recruiting teams to guide HR's evolution from fixed programs towards an agile, iterative product development mindset. This is a fascinating discussion! In the interview, we discuss: The core challenges employers are facing A mismatch in AI readiness What are the most innovative CHROs doing? Learning from product managers to move from programs to products TA's unique influence and tech adoption advantage Removing silos in the talent function The changing meaning of Build, Buy, Borrow, Bot, Bounce. With Shintaro away, they dive deep into what it would take to quantitatively model grappling as a "game of inches"—from motion capture to video-based simulation, and the promise of building smarter, more personalized training tools using machine learning and embodied AI.
Is there a narrative in the real world that is being pushed by bot accounts on social media websites throughout the web? Well, there is a really good possibility that many of the strange events that have been plaguing recent history has stemmed from certain storylines placed by these bot accounts dating back decades now. Bots arguing with bots. Which are arguing with bots, witch in turn have real humans enraged about false storylines that have no actual basis in reality other than just to create turmoil in the public. Oh! and we dabble in the concept of non-playable characters in the "real-world" and proof that we live in a simulation. Ahead of Black Hat USA 2025, Sean Martin and Marco Ciappelli sit down once again with Rupesh Chokshi, Senior Vice President and General Manager of the Application Security Group at Akamai, for a forward-looking conversation on the state of AI security. From new threat trends to enterprise missteps, Rupesh lays out three focal points for this year's security conversation: protecting generative AI at runtime, addressing the surge in AI scraper bots, and defending the APIs that serve as the foundation for AI systems.Rupesh shares that Akamai is now detecting over 150 billion AI scraping attempts—a staggering signal of the scale and sophistication of machine-to-machine activity. These scraper bots are not only siphoning off data but also undermining digital business models by bypassing monetization channels, especially in publishing, media, and content-driven sectors. While AI introduces productivity gains and operational efficiency, it also introduces new and uncharted risks. Agentic AI, where autonomous systems operate on behalf of users or other systems, is pushing cybersecurity teams to rethink their strategies. Traditional firewalls aren't enough—because these threats don't behave like yesterday's attacks. Prompt injection, toxic output, and AI-generated hallucinations are some of the issues now surfacing in enterprise environments, with over 70% of organizations already experiencing AI-related incidents. This brings the focus to the runtime. Akamai's newly launched Firewall for AI is purpose-built to detect and mitigate risks in generative AI and LLM applications—without disrupting performance. Designed to flag issues like toxic output, remote code execution, or compliance violations, it operates with real-time visibility across inputs and outputs. It's not just about defense—it's about building trust as AI moves deeper into decision-making and workflow automation.CISOs, says Rupesh, need to shift from high-level discussions to deep, tactical understanding of where and how their organizations are deploying AI. This means not only securing AI but also working hand-in-hand with the business to establish governance, drive discovery, and embed security into the fabric of innovation.Learn more about Akamai: https://itspm.ag/akamailbwcNote: This story contains promotional content. This week, Ben's story is on the looming expiration of the Cybersecurity Information Sharing Act (CISA 2015), a widely supported but currently stalled law that enables cyber threat data sharing between the private sector and government, now at risk of lapsing by September 30 due to congressional inaction and conflicting priorities. Dave's got the story of how a Georgia court's AI-fueled legal blunder has sparked growing concern that overworked judges nationwide could increasingly miss fake citations generated by AI, prompting urgent calls for better tech training, oversight, and ethical guidance to safeguard the integrity of the U.S. justice system.

He breaks down this common concern and explains why these numbers often don't align in the way chiropractors expect. The episode offers perspective, highlights common misconceptions, and gives practical advice for improving website conversion. The Misunderstanding: Expectations vs Reality Many chiropractors expect a high percentage of website visitors to become new patients. In reality, this is not how online marketing works—especially with cold traffic. Chiropractors who believe they should convert 50% or more of website visitors into patients are setting themselves up for disappointment. Even a 6% conversion rate on cold website traffic is considered very good. Jerry explains that in his experience with info products and affiliate marketing, getting a 3% conversion rate was difficult. A 6% conversion would have been life-changing. Chiropractors need to calibrate their expectations and understand what's normal. Cold Traffic vs Warm Leads One of the biggest issues is confusing cold traffic with warm leads. Cold traffic includes people who: Find your site through Google or ads Have no prior relationship with you Haven't been referred and don't trust you yet These people convert at a very low rate. In contrast, warm leads are: Referred by friends or family Already familiar with you through social media or community presence Former patients or those who've interacted with your brand Warm leads should convert at a much higher rate. If you're only converting a small percentage of these, something is seriously wrong. Website Traffic Doesn't Equal Potential Patients Looking at gross visitor numbers assumes every visitor is a potential new patient, which is simply not true. Website visitors may include: Bots or spam traffic Competitors Existing patients checking hours or contact info People outside your service area Accidental clicks Unless you're running a tightly controlled ad campaign with a direct funnel, gross website numbers are a poor indicator of performance. Conversion Isn't Always Linear Unless your practice relies 100% on online scheduling, you can't assume that every new patient came through the website. People may call, text, message you on social media, or walk in. If your site visitors and new patient numbers aren't lining up, it could be because they're taking other paths into your practice. Trying to compare total website visits with total new patients is misleading because: Not every visitor is a qualified lead Not every new patient visits the website before booking A Volume Reality Check Jerry gives a basic example of how conversion typically plays out: 500 website visitors 3% click on the “schedule now” button = 15 people 50% of those actually schedule = 7 to 8 people 75% of scheduled appointments show up = about 5 to 6 new patients This is a realistic scenario and shouldn't be considered a failure. In fact, it's fairly normal. Google Business Profile (GBP) Can Be Even More Misleading Many chiropractors see huge views on their GBP listings—1,800 or more in a month—but still get only a handful of new patients. That gap can be discouraging, but again, it's common. The takeaway isn't that you should ignore these numbers but that you need to understand what they really mean. Visibility without conversion isn't useful unless your site and profile are compelling enough to get people to take action. How to Improve Website Conversion Jerry offers several practical ways to improve your chiropractic website's performance: 1. Simplify and organize your site. Avoid clutter. Too many chiropractic sites overwhelm visitors with too much information and no clear direction. Think of your website like a path through the woods—give people obvious cues about where to go next. 2. Make your content easy on the eyes. Presentation matters. Use formatting that's readable, clean, and skimmable. Don't dump a wall of text on your visitors. 3. Use patient-centered language. Skip the jargon. Don't talk about “optimizing health potential.” Focus on problems and solutions your ideal patients care about. 4. Add trust signals. Include real photos, staff bios, patient reviews, video introductions, and even relevant social media content. Authenticity builds trust. 5. Make scheduling easy. The best options are texting and online scheduling. Phone calls are okay. Email is the worst—slow, unreliable, and frustrating for both sides. Final Thought Unrealistic expectations are one of the biggest killers of progress. Chiropractors often get discouraged because they're comparing raw numbers without understanding what those numbers mean. Not all traffic is equal, not all visitors are prospects, and not all new patients will come through the same channel. Focus on what you can control—clear messaging, simplified navigation, strong calls to action, and easy ways to schedule. Want Help Growing Your Practice? In Episode 427 of Hidden Forces, Demetri Kofinas speaks with Le Shrub, the author of the Shrubstack Substack who in his previous life was part of a famous team known for putting on “The Big Short” during the 2008 Great Financial Crisis. This recording is the result of a phone call Demetri made to Le Shrub to catch up on markets and life after returning from a recent trip to Italy where he spent time with some guests of the podcast discussing the effect that rapid technological changes are having on the evolution of human societies, culture, politics, and the economy. Le Shrub and Kofinas spend the first hour exploring some of these themes and the collective sense in Western countries that our governing systems, societal norms, and democratic institutions are unraveling at a quickening pace, hurdling us toward some inexorable economic and political reset. They shift their focus in the second hour toward the markets as Le Shrub educates listeners on his investment process and how it has fared in this increasingly chaotic information landscape where signal is often drowned by a cacophony of bad information spread by malicious actors, uninformed clout chasers, and bots. This includes a discussion about how Le Shrub has sought to monetize the second order effects of the most recent Trump tariffs on copper and the Brazilian economy.
