Once upon a time, Zeus spent nine consecutive nights with Mnemosyne, the Titan goddess of memory, giving birth to the nine Muses: Erato, Euterpe, Melpomene, Polyhymnia, Terpsichore, Thalia, Urania, Calliope, and Clio. These Muses inspired countless poets and artists, including Shakespeare and Milton, who invoked their divine influence in their works. The tradition of calling upon the Muses dates back to Homer's Iliad, where he likely invoked Calliope, the Muse of epic poetry. The Muses resided on Mount Olympus, delighting the gods with their songs and dances, often accompanied by Apollo's lyre. Their influence extended beyond art, touching on history, eloquence, and even foreseeing the future. Key quotes: "At the opening of his Henry V, Shakespeare refers to the 'Muse of fire,' and Milton beseeches the 'Heav'nly Muse' to sing at the beginning of his Paradise Lost. By invoking a muse at the opening of their works, Shakespeare and Milton carried on a centuries-old custom." "In the Iliad, Homer describes the Muses singing in response to each other's songs while Apollo plays his lyre, entertaining the gods during their feast." "In his Theogony, Hesiod describes a conversation with the Muses where they bestow upon him their divine voice, enabling him to exalt the gods and their progeny." "In his Metamorphoses, Antoninus Liberalis recounts the daughters of Pierus challenging the Muses in song, only to be transformed into birds as punishment for their audacity." "Valerius Flaccus acknowledges Clio's power in his Argonautica, writing, 'Clio, do you now reveal the reasons behind the heroes' horrific deeds? You, O Muse, have been granted the ability to see into the minds of the gods and understand the processes that lead to reality.'" Dive into the fascinating world of the Muses and discover the divine inspiration behind some of the greatest works of art and literature. Tune in now!

Axlarna blottas, under renässansen brösten. 17 notiks franču opermūzikas koncerts "Lui et Elle ENCORE – franču operas zelta periods", kurā piedalīsies Anta Jankovska (soprāns), Irma Pavāre (mecosoprāns), Artjoms Safronovs (tenors), Nauris Indzeris (baritons), Edgars Ošleja (bass), Ilona Meija (flauta), Pēteris Eduards Kalniņš (klarnete), Liene Neija-Kalniņa un Konstantīns Paturskis (vijole), Ivars Bezprozvanovs (čells), Helēna Laukmane (klavieres). Būs no visa mazdrusciņ.

A choir themed mix with a dash of ambient. Always loved a dark choir. Ever since I heard Daevid Allen's Euterpe gratitude piece, 2001 Space odyssey and snippets of the Orb. A personal indulgence this one but still classes as ambient in my humble.

Clinical Tests Reveal that Black Cumin Seed (Nigella Sativa) May Treat Hypothyroidism Tabriz University, April 13, 2022 Consuming a few grams of powdered Nigella sativa (NS), more commonly known as black cumin seeds, may improve the autoimmune thyroid condition known as Hashimoto's thyroiditis, according to a study published in the journal BMC Complementary and Alternative Medicine. Hashimoto's thyroiditis is the most common form of thyroid gland inflammation. It is also the most common thyroid disorder in the U.S. In fact, the disease affects 14 million people in the country alone. Data also showed that the condition will affect about five percent of the U.S. population. Hashimoto's thyroiditis was 15 times more prevalent in women compared with men. Women aged between 30 to 60 years had the highest prevalence of the condition. The study also revealed that patients who took the black seed supplement exhibited marked reductions in serum concentrations of thyroid stimulating hormone and anti-thyroid peroxidase antibodies at eight weeks of intervention. In addition, patients in the intervention group showed a notable decline in serum vascular endothelial growth factor levels. Researchers also highlighted a significant increase in triiodothyronine concentration in patients who received powdered black seeds. However, the experts did not observe a similar effect in patients who took a placebo pill. (NEXT) Following a Mediterranean-style diet during pregnancy may reduce the risk of preeclampsia Johns Hopkins University, April 20, 2022 Following a Mediterranean-style diet during pregnancy was associated with a reduced risk of developing preeclampsia, and Black women appeared to have the greatest reduction of risk, according to new research published today in the Journal of the American Heart Association. Preeclampsia, a condition during pregnancy characterized by severe high blood pressure and liver or kidney damage, is a major cause of complications and death for the mother and her unborn child. Preeclampsia also increases a woman's risk of heart diseases, such as high blood pressure, heart attack, stroke or heart failure, by more than two times later in life. Women with preeclampsia have a higher risk of preterm delivery (giving birth before 37 weeks gestation) or low birth weight babies, and children born to mothers with preeclampsia are also at higher risk of developing high blood pressure and heart disease. Researchers created a Mediterranean-style diet score based on participants' responses to food frequency interviews and questionnaires, which were conducted within three days of giving birth. The analysis found: Women who had any form of diabetes before pregnancy and pre-pregnancy obesity were twice as likely to develop preeclampsia compared to women without those conditions. The risk of preeclampsia was more than 20% lower among the women who followed a Mediterranean-style diet during pregnancy. Black women who had the lowest Mediterranean-style diet scores had the highest risk (78%) for preeclampsia compared to all other non-Black women who more closely adhered to the Mediterranean-style diet. (NEXT) Individuals with type 2 diabetes should exercise after dinner University of Missouri, April 18, 2022 Exercise is a popular prescription for individuals suffering from the symptoms of Type 2 diabetes, but little research has explored whether these individuals receive more benefits from working out before or after dinner. Now, researchers at the University of Missouri have found that individuals with Type 2 diabetes can lower their risks of cardiovascular diseases more effectively by exercising after a meal. "This study shows that it is not just the intensity or duration of exercising that is important but also the timing of when it occurs," said Jill Kanaley, professor in the MU Department of Nutrition and Exercise Physiology. "Results from this study show that resistance exercise has its most powerful effect on reducing glucose and fat levels in one's blood when performed after dinner." Kanaley and her colleagues studied a group of obese individuals with Type 2 diabetes. On one occasion, participants performed resistance exercises before eating dinner. During another visit, participants exercised 45 minutes after eating dinner. Participants performed resistance exercises such as leg curls, seated calf raises and abdominal crunches. Compared to levels on a non-exercise day, Kanaley found that the participants who exercised before dinner were able to only reduce the sugar levels in their blood; however, participants who exercised after dinner were able to reduce both sugar and fat levels. Participants consumed a moderate carbohydrate dinner on the evenings of the study. (NEXT) Dietary supplementation with açaí pulps improves cognition attenuates inflammatory signaling in BV-2 microglial cells Tufts University, April 18, 2022 Objectives: The present study was carried out to determine if lyophilized açaí fruit pulp (genus, Euterpe), rich in polyphenols and other bioactive antioxidant and anti-inflammatory phytochemicals, is efficacious in reversing age-related cognitive deficits in aged rats. Methods: The diets of 19-month-old Fischer 344 rats were supplemented for 8 weeks with 2% Euterpe oleracea (EO), Euterpe precatoria (EP), or a control diet. Rats were tested in the Morris water maze and then blood serum from the rats was used to assess inflammatory responses of BV-2 microglial cells. Results: After 8 weeks of dietary supplementation with 2% EO or EP, rats demonstrated improved working memory in the Morris water maze, relative to controls; however, only the EO diet improved reference memory. BV-2 microglial cells treated with blood serum collected from EO-fed rats produced less nitric oxide (NO) than control-fed rats. Serum from both EO- and EP-fed rats reduced tumor necrosis factor-alpha (TNF-α). There is a relationship between performance in the water maze and the production of NO and TNF-α by serum-treated BV-2 cells, such that serum from rats with better performance was more protective against inflammatory signaling.   (SUPERFOOD) Peppers (capsicum): Native American folk medicine, which has so many features we can still learn from, gave a prominent place in its pharmacology to peppers of the capsicum family, which includes bell and chili peppers. Recent work suggests that the nutrient capsaicin, found in these peppers, is a natural analgesic and a neuro-inflammatory blocker that relieves aches and pains to joints and muscles. This is one reason why Native American medicine prescribed a topical application of pepper to painful areas of the body. Capsaicin is particularly deserving of mention in this book because recent, promising research in Canada has explored the uses of capsaicin in the treatment of Type I diabetes. Other work has noted it can benefit sufferers from prostate cancer and leukemia. Some scientists have noted that this much studied nutrient found in peppers helps with weight loss, stimulation of insulin-producing cells, and prevention of LDL cholesterol oxidation. Another benefit recently uncovered is that the nutrient protects from stomach ulcerations and induces apoptosis (cancer cell death) in lung cancer. Setting aside the value of capsaicin, peppers can also be prized because they are rich in the antioxidant vitamins A as well as in vitamins B1, B6, E, and K. They are also high in potassium, magnesium, and iron. Yellow peppers are rich in lutein and zeaxanthin, which protect from eye disease and blindness. Videos: 1. Ciao a tutte e a tutti!
Premete play, e come sempre, Buon ascolto!^_^

Viņš to gan teicis par vokālo kamermūziku, bet pieļauju, ka to var mazliet vispārināt. Turklāt runājamā valoda atšķiras no dziedamās valodas. Tas nav tik vienkārši. Un vēl. Šajā koncertā mums šķita ļoti svarīgi parādīt ne tikai slavenos un visur dzirdētos opusus, bet arī kaut ko jaunu un nezināmu – kaut ko, ko skatītāji varbūt atklās pirmo reizi. Jo vienmēr jau skatītājam vajag gan to, ko viņš zina, gan to, ko nezina. Ja ir tikai nezināmais – ir grūti, ja tikai zināmais – kļūst garlaicīgi. Vairāk un plašāk - ierakstā.

Composers can't always hang around waiting for a visit by Euterpe, the ancient Greek Muse of music, to sow a seed of inspiration for their next composition. Commissioning agents have a long and much-appreciated record of standing in for when that vital role of providing a creative impetus is required and this episode spotlights a few of them.

When the mice in these studies began fasting, Belkaid says, T and B cells vanished from the bloodstream and organ tissues. “All those memory cells seem to disappear from the body when you decrease calories,” she says. When the researchers looked in the mice, they found these immune cells hiding inside the bone marrow. “They were able to take shelter there and be protected,” Belkaid says. These benefits include better cardiovascular health, better endurance, lower blood pressure, and reduced inflammation.Superfoods Pure Synergy Immune system+ Acai berries are renowned superfruits celebrated by many health enthusiasts due to the wide array of phytonutrients and potent antioxidants they contain. Synopsis Deadlines are a fact of life for many of us—and composer are no exception. In 1875, Peter Tchaikovsky agreed to write 12, short solo pieces, one a month, for a St. Petersburg music magazine, beginning with their January 1876 issue. Tchaikovsky dashed the first piece off, but, fearing that he might forget his monthly deadline, took the wise precaution of instructing his servant to remind him: before each month’s deadline, Tchaikovsky’s dutiful servant would say: “Peter Ilytich, isn’t it about time to send something off to St. Petersburg?” Tchaikovksy would drop whatever he was working on and finish the next installment. So, it’s not too far-fetched to imagine Tchaikovsky on this date back in 1876 putting the finishing touches to this little piano piece for the May issue of the St. Petersburg magazine, a sketch he titled “Starlight Nights.” More recently, the contemporary American composer, Judith Lang Zaimont, also composed a set of 12 short piano pieces, one for each month, a suite she titled “Calendar Collection.” An accomplish pianist and composer, Zaimont taught for many years at the University of Minnesota in Minneapolis. Ciao a tutte e a tutti.

In this episode we will look at a brief overview of the nine muses, the deities of inspiration in the Greek Mythology; Calliope, Clio, Euterpe, Erato, Melpomene, Polyhymnia, Terpsichore, Thalia and Urania - and their roles as openings for the Illiad, the Odyssey, the Theogony - and countless other major works from the Ancient World (and also later in the Renaissance). Hesiod describes: "And one day they taught Hesiod glorious song while he was shepherding his lambs under holy Helicon, and this word first the goddesses said to me -- the Muses of Olympus, daughters of Zeus who holds the aegis: `Shepherds of the wilderness, wretched things of shame, mere bellies, we know how to speak many false things as though they were true; but we know, when we will, to utter true things.'" Here pointing out how the inspiration came to him while he was "shepherding his lambs" under the mountain, and also pointing out how creativity might be wrong and false, but sometimes, when "the muses will", also telling the brilliant and true things. --- This episode is sponsored by · Anchor: The easiest way to make a podcast. https://anchor.fm/app

Hard Verses Episode 7: Inscription on the vesture and thigh (Rev. 19:16).     Wanted to clarify from last week the 1 Peter 3:18-19 (He spoke to the spirits that were in prison was from Don Gary, not Jordan Gray. The Problem. Rev 19:16 “And he hath on his vesture and on his thigh a name written, KING OF KINGS, AND LORD OF LORDS.” Much of Revelation has difficulty in nailing down concrete situations and details because of the symbolic language used. This verse is no different. The book is coded up because otherwise it would not get delivered or cause problems for the messengers. The Solution. Rev 19:16 “And he hath on his vesture and on his thigh a name written, KING OF KINGS, AND LORD OF LORDS.” The main problem we are having is a lack of historical knowledge on this custom. For time sack, I will not get into the previous and post verses but will focus strictly on this. What is a vesture? What is up with the thigh? “Two images likewise of this man are seen in Ionia, on the way that leads from Ephesus to Phocaea, and from Sardis to Smyrna. The figure is five palms in height; in his right hand he holds a dart, in his left a bow, armed after the manner of the Egyptians and Ethiopians. On a line drawn across the breast, from one shoulder to the other, are these words, written in Egyptian hieroglyphics: Εγω τηνδε την χωρην ωμοισι τοισι εμοισι εκτησαμην· ‘I obtained this country by these my shoulders;’“ i.e., by my own power. Heroditus, Euterpe speaking of the actions of Sesostris. In the Etruria Regalis of Dempster, in the appendix at the end of vol. ii., there is a beautiful female figure of brass, about twelve inches high, the hair gracefully plaited, and the head adorned with a diadem. She has a tunic without sleeves, and over that a sort of pallium. On the outside of the right thigh, close to the tunic, and probably on it, in the original, is an inscription in Etruscan characters. As these kinds of inscriptions on the thigh, the garments, and different parts of the body, were in use among different nations, to express character, conduct, qualities, and conquests, we may rest assured that to them St. John alludes when he represents our sovereign Lord with an inscription upon his vesture and upon his thigh; and had we not found it a custom among other nations, we should have been at a loss to account for its introduction and meaning here. Adam Clark Some suggestions from Pulpit Commentary below. (1) The name, written at length, is written partly upon the vesture and partly upon the thigh itself, where the garment would (in an equestrian figure) fall away from the thigh (Alford). (2) The name is written on the vesture, even (kai) on that part of it which covers the thigh (De Wette, Dusterdieck, Hengstenberg). (3) On the thigh, as the place where the sword usually hangs. (4) A reference to the custom of engraving the name of the artist upon the thigh of a statue (Cic., "Verr.," 4:43; see Wetstein). KING OF KINGS, AND LORD OF LORDS. As in Rev_17:14 (but inverted), where, as here, it portrays the victorious career of Christ over the "kings of the earth." - end of Pulpit Commentary. Studies in the Book of Revelation by Robert R. Taylor, Jr. An excerpt about Rev. 19:16. “Verse 16- On the garment and thigh of the Warrior King was an inscribed name- KING OF KINGS AND LORD OF LORDS. In the Gospel Advocate Adult Quarterly for the Winter of 1978 we have this fine summary of Revelation 19:16: His Lordship and sovereignty are emphasized here. All are subjects to his power. Kings of the earth, however powerful, are beneath him; lords, however, great, must ultimately answer to him. It is said that in ancient times and in Oriental lands it was not uncommon for men of great power and prominence to have their names inscribed on their garments so that they might be quickly recognized. We must not assume that such was literally necessary for the Lord to do in order that he might properly be recognized; the statement is a figurative one and the reference symbolic; it simply suggests the supreme power and unquestioned sovereignty of the Lord when he triumphs over his enemies (p. 54).   What about this name? continued. the number seven finds a place in the scheme of the Apocalypse so often that the following fact is well worth noting: leaving out the "and," by which St. John tells us to add the two titles into one name, the combination "King of Kings, Lord of Lords," in Aramaic [font unavailable to render] adds up to 777.[1]   The lesson for us today. Do we recognize Jesus as Lord of lords and King of kings? Do we recognize His commandments as law or are they just suggestions? Love your enemy, Seek ye first, etc. just suggestions or commandments?   Call to action.   Through e-sword (free for download, free to use) I used the following modules: Adam Clarke Burton Coffman Pulpit Commentary   Website has been updated preacherbryan.com to have a forum and the podcast front and center. Always on the look for new sounds and determined to challenge every existing cliché in music industry, he managed to define his own vision of vanguard techno. Sure, this would not happen without the support of his loyal peers who've joined him on the production platforms such as Recycled Loops, Consumer Recreation and Astrodisco, with which they defined "Slovenian techno sound" and successfully it as an important driving force on the global club scene. He started his journey to the stardome as an excellent athlete, running between two baskets, but it was Euterpe the Muse of music and poetry that paved Umek's life-path. She got him totally unprepared, seduced him with no further notice, so he had no chance of getting out of her treads. He devoted his life, his heart, all of his passion and energy, to the sounds he discovered as a teenager. Pioneering the genre he became one of its most appreciated ambassadors with faithful worldwide audience simply known as The Father (of Slovenian techno). Sleeping on past achievements was never Umek's thing. So it's nosurprise he decided for complete renovation of his sound and live set performance though being steady member of Top 100 DJ lists for almost a decade. The year 2007 marks beginning of a new chapter in his music career. After spending enormous amount of time and artistic energy bringing his characteristic sound to the whole new level, he presented new international music therapy called 1605 – Sixteenofive. No doubt this was a very risky move. But it was the only way for him to stay on top of the game. And it seems he made the right decision at the crucial time: the response to his new vision of electronic dance music from his peers, critics, media and most importantly his fans is great and his production is supported by some top names in the industry. FALLING IN LOVE "As far as I remember, my first serious contact with music was trough pop artists such as Michael Jackson, Modern Talking, Falco and Yugoslavian singer Daniel, who rocked the Eurosong audience in the early 80's with the infamous hit single Djuli. (Laugh.) My mother is the one to blame. She bought me my first radio which I've listened to 'till exhaustion," apologizes Uros. He brought his music passion to the next level few years latter, discovering the record button on his first double cassette player/recorder. "That enabled me to start my own music collection. I've recorded songs from Slovenian disco chart program, which presented top commercial tunes on weekly basis. I also managed to get my hands on some rare pirate cassettes with dance and techno tunes, but even few years after Slovenia became independent I didn't really know where to look for that modern electronic sounds that I liked so much. I didn't know anyone who listened to that stuff. Until I discovered Cool Night, specialized broadcast on Ljubljana's alternative student radio station. The Monday evening slot was run by original pioneers of electronic dance culture in Slovenia, Primoz Pecovnik (now boss of indie label Matrix Music), Brane Zorman aka MC Brane of Beitthron and Aldo Ivancic of Borghesia. HE'LL BURN IN HELL If there's any symbolism in the beginning of his clubbing career, DJ Umek won't escape burning in Hell for at least few decades: "I've told my mother I'm going to church to attend festive midnight mass on the Christmas night, but I was determined to visit MC Brane's party at Ljubljana's underground club K4 for the first time that night. I was expected to be home at 1 am, but wasn't 'till 4 am, so the curfew was imminent," Umek remembers popping his club cherry. When the martial law eventually lifted and his mum decided to soften the regime, he found himself dealing with new challenge. He was allowed to go clubbing at the weekends but was expected to be home at 3 am. The trick was, as it usually is, that the first morning bus to his home neighborhood departed from the centre of the city fifteen minutes later. Solving problem wasn't easy, but being young and determined there was no problem for him running trough the half of the city twice a week: "Running few kilometers in the middle of the night after clubbing really wasn't as hard as it seems. I was training basketball at that time, so I was really fit." It's more than a decade since he traded career of basketball superstar for the nightlife debauchery. It would be interesting to see what he could have achieved as an athlete. Namely, he was selected for the junior national team just as he parted from the sports, and some of his former colleagues became key players in the top USA and European basketball leagues. HE GOT HOOKED The industrial designed K4 club in the basement of Student's Union HQ in the centre of Ljubljana is still considered to be Umek's resident club, although he's not an official resident deejay anymore. But since his most loyal fans are still gathering there, K4 remains the playground for testing new productions, concepts and sounds. "It's where everything started. This is the place where I've got in touch with first Slovenian electronic projects such as Anna Lies, Clox or Random Logic. Some of those guys were and still are important part of my life. It was Jure Havlicek who ultimately influenced my decision to get involved in professional music production. Gregor Zemljic is mastering all of my tracks. And I've founded my first band Mouse Trap with Uros and Vid, who have opened my eyes and ears to this culture." It was his friend's Uros home where Umek got in touch with UK based pirate radio stations such as Green Apple/Dance Nation. "We picked up this programs via satellite dish. They played hardcore, breakbeat and techno non stop at the weekend, and even though we were recording it, we never left the house so we would not miss anything!" His friend was also the one who introduced him the Screen Tracker. "It was the very basic 8-bit resolution production tool with four mono channels, but that's how everything started. After I've finally managed to save enough money to buy proper sampler, the outside World ceased to exist. I've became totally obsessed with that box. I've spent up to sixteen hours a day working on that machine." AND SO HE BEGAN Although he's established technician, master of three decks and FX performances, it wasn't easy for Umek to get acquainted with those needles and mixers in the first place. You have to bear in mind his home country was part of former eastern block and most of the small clubs could only afford cassette and CD players at that time. "I could only dream of having my own decks in the beginning of 90's. As a single parent my mother could not afford that kind of expense. But I was lucky I've met few guys that recognized the talent in me and gave me the opportunity to start." Umek was regular at club Palma matinees at that time. He spent most of the afternoons standing in the corner watching deejay mixing records, until one day resident DJ Alf offered him to finish his set. He seized the opportunity, somehow managed to get trough the night and they've agreed he can practice on that decks and mixer for an hour or so before the weekly matinee. "After I've conquered the technique and performed for a few times in Palma, I've got offered opening slot at Aldo's night in K4. It only paid as much to buy one CD, but it was a steady job and I really liked it." It was also the time when he decided to sell his collection of 200 CDs. "It's something I still regret, but it was the only way to earn money I needed to buy vinyl." In the early 90s buying techno records seemed almost a mission impossible for someone living and working in Slovenia. Closest shop with that kind of music was in Germany, almost 500 kilometers away from Ljubljana. "We heard there are some records shops in Munich. So we've booked the weekly shopping bus, drove to Munich, and found that shops on our own. It wasn't easy but we've successfully finished that adventure. I've only had enough money to buy eight records, but this is how my collection started." BUILDING THE SCENE Germany was also the place where Umek got in touch with the rave scene. "It was an amazing experience, when I attended my first Technomania party with 15.000 revelers on seven floors placed in a hangar on the outskirts of Munich. And when I've entered twice as bigger Mayday arena for the first time I knew I want to be in that deejay booth one day. Few years later I was. Although I've thought to myself what the heck am I doing at that commercial masquerade in the backstage, I've changed my mind when I've finally stepped into the deejay booth. I've seen all those kids waving hands and shouting to me as being their god, and I'm sure some of them thought just the same as I did years before them. So, I've just smiled and performed one of the best sets of my career that can still be found on the internet." Totally hooked on exploding ravemania, Umek and his peers started organizing bus transfers to rave parties in Germany. They were enyoing themselves and they were learning along the way. So it was just a matter of time when they decided to start putting up their own events. "The first one was total disaster," remembers Umek. "We've leased the local fireman's hall for the night but only managed to attract hundred of revelers. We were so broke, we couldn't even afford cleaning lady the morning after." But they could not be stopped by that debacle. They worked their way from event to event, got in charge of small club in the outskirts of Ljubljana and gradually became one of the leading promoters in the country. "I still remember the illegal rave party we've organized in the countryside outside Ljubljana. It attracted surprisingly big mass of people and one of the main national newspapers reported of the incident, since we were dispersed by the police. And there was the local politician, real smart guy that made us all laugh: he stated that the cows in the nearby village stopped lactating ( i.e. giving milk) because of the stress induced by loud techno music. … No, I'm not kidding. This really was in the papers and can still be found in the archives." THE BIG BREAK DJ Umek made his name in Slovenia by hosting some of the best club nights in the country. Clubbing scene in Zagreb, Croatia was much stronger in the beginning of 90s, but it was him and his peers that changed that in just a few years by turning their home turf into most prolific party scene in the whole region. It was also the time of experimenting for Umek. He was mostly known as techno deejay, but loved to play underground house, too, especially at the after parties. And since he had the biggest collection of house records in Slovenia, he quickly became involved in building the house scene as well. At some point he was so much into house, he played four gigs a week, but only twice a month techno set. "I felt really suffocated as an artist with all that house, because I couldn't focus on techno, my main genre. One night at Ambasada Gavioli I decided I won't play house anymore. I grabbed some Chicago house records, pitched them, played really banging set and gave farewell to the club. I've returned to K4 and focus on techno again." He returned to Ambasada Gavioli the next year, this time as a techno specialist. Since he was treated as the second resident, the favorite of club management always being his good friend Valentino Kanzyani, Umek had no competitive clause and could take bookings wherever and whenever he desired. Meeting top techno DJs from all over the world, establishing new friendships and gathering contacts he started performing at the best venues all over the World. Quickly he assembled crowds of faithful fans from Berlin to Tokyo, making impression as a great technician and programmer, but it was his special blend of music known as Slovenian Techno which has put him on the map as one of the tope names in the genre. RECYCLED LOOPS As the founding pillar of Slovenian electronic music scene Umek co-founded his first label in the mid 90s. Absense (and its sub-label Expire) was the first specialized techno label in the region, home to artists such as Umek, Anorak, Random Logic, Brother's Yard or Clox, quickly becoming popular with artists such as Laurent Garnier or Sven Väth because of its unique sound. But it were the Recycled Loops in Earresistible Musick labels that really established Slovenian electronic dance sound as one of the driving forces on the global scale. The first mentioned joint venture with Valentino Kanzyani was and still is reserved for underground techno releases, while the second serves as a platform for hard, electronic house experiments. "The idea for starting our own label wasn't originally ours. The plan was to launch Next Wave imprint as Ambasada Gavioli offspring. Everything was set up, we've recorded our first record, but then suddenly Valentino terminated his partnership with the club management, and since I was performing there solely as a favor to him, I left too. But we were determined to release our production and decided to start the label on our own. The first release was distributed by Prime and since it sold good they've supported the launch of our own label. The name was picked up as a statement and description for the sound we were promoting at the same time. Namely, that was the time when we recycled old techno loops." Umek is currently involved in running another two independent labels. He is one of four guys behind experimental Astrodisco project, which is Slovenia's unique answer to "minimal" explosion. The other one is the extension of his new 1605 – Sixteeenofive concept, which was launched in the early 2007 as international platform for promotion and development of new electronic sound structures and approaches to deejay performances. Guy Gerber, Extrawelt, Gregor Tresher, Billy Nasty, Mikkel Metal, Mike del Saar, Matthew Hoag, Alex Long and other artists are already involved. WANT TO RECREATE? Although not so known to international crowd Consumer Recreation project played major role in Umek's career and was really important for the progression of Slovenian electronic music scene, which is still developing nicely. The incentive which includes deejays Bizzi, Dojaja, Psiho & Plotz started as a promotion crew behind some major techno events in the country. It became even more important as the weekly radio show and label of the same name were lunched. "The basic idea behind this project was to promote the freshest stuff on the scene. At that time I was already household name in the global techno circuit, so I was sent a lot of promos which we played in our radio show and at the clubs. For example: our radio policy was to never play any record more than once, since we didn't even have enough time to play everything we wanted." When Consumer Recreation joined forces with Taotech and some other guys Explicit Music was born. It brought the organization part of Slovenian party scene on the whole new level. Big open air festival series such as Meet Me and Sindustry, indoor parties such as EUrora and the string of smaller club nights marked the beginning of new millennium in the whole region, not only in Slovenia. In 2005 Explicit Music was dissolved and Futuristing Music crew stepped into its place continuing the legacy. The productions of FM crew include major annual events such as DiscoNautica gathering, Umek's solo action in Ljubljana's central park Tivoli and The Day of Electronica festival. The Astrodisco project is original Slovenian answer to "minimal explosion". It's designed as a test-platform for creative multimedia boutique club nights wrapped into futuristic electronic sounds. It builds on the whole club experience, authentic music production, unique décor, exclusive VJ performances and unusual combinations of arts and crafts such as building real moving Astrobots. LOOK AHEAD The classic ambient of summer theatre designed by eminent architect Jozef Plecnik hosted Dan elektronike (The Day of Electronica) party, the launch pad for Umek's new project 1605 – Sixteeenofive in May 2007. New international sound development platform is designed to promote live performances of vanguard electronic artists. Gregor Tresher, Guy Gerber, Mikkel Metal, Extrawelt and leading Slovenian producers were hand picked to perform at this event. The launch of 1605 – Sixteenofive platform marks the beginning of a new chapter in DJ Umek's music career as he spent enormous amount of time and artistic energy bringing his characteristics sound to the whole new level. No doubt this was a very risky move. But it was the only way for him to stay on top of the game. And it seems he made the right decision at the right time: the response to his new vision of electronic dance music from his peers, critics, media and most importantly his fans is great and his production is supported by some top names in the industry. The third edition of annual Umek at Park Tivoli open air party which attracted more than 30.000 souls was also the right time and place to test the new equipment. On that occasion Umek put in motion his new digital setup. But this is just the beginning of his live performance refreshments that will be presented to the public once his long expected new artists album will finally be released.Special Thanks To  Umek and Mr Urban Jeram   www.umek.siUMEK BOOKING CONTACT:Tina / Kne'deep Berlin tina@knedeep.netKne'deep BerlinP.O.
