USAID unterstützte u.a. Fresh eggs, anyone? The CDC (Centers for Disease Control and Prevention) has been warning folks about the problems with backyard poultry production and the dangers of eating fresh eggs. This is a subject near and dear to my heart. Not only are eggs one of the healthiest foods, providing a wonderful source of protein and other nutrients packed into one little shell, but eggs are versatile. You can poach, boil, fry, bake, or scramble them for a nutrient-rich snack or main meal. You can make them into a salad or a sandwich. Gotta love those eggs! Back in the day,...Article Link

Both the NIH (National Institutes of Health) and the CDC (Center for Disease Control) have released studies showing that LONELINESS is the single, biggest predictor of premature death...of all causes. Americans are lonely, isolated, and spending lots of time online - but they generally report feeling depressed, anxious, and disconnected. What gives? In this message, Ryan Hicks makes the case for why we are made for community - and practical steps we can take to "be together."

Dr. Dylan George, Director of the CDC Center for Forecasting and Outbreak Analytics (CFA), walks us through the CFA's status, almost two years after its launch. Though still a startup, CFA has modeled multiple outbreaks, including Omicron, Mpox, and now the respiratory virus season (Covid, RSV, flu). Its clients? The White House and executive agencies, and increasingly, state, local and territorial officials. Its products? October 24, it issued its Respiratory Season Outlook. On November 8, CFA launches its $262 million/five year investment in a National Network for Outbreak Response and Disease Modelling, encompassing thirteen key university and private sector expert data partners across the country. Critical to CFA's success will be building new communications capabilities to cut through noise and distrust and build trust and confidence.

Welcome to The Art of Medicine, the program that explores the arts, business, and clinical aspects of the practice of medicine! I'm your host, Dr. Andrew Wilner. As a physician, I see death related to cigarettes every day. With all the other health threats in the world, the risks of smoking often don't make the front page. However, according to the CDC (Centers for Disease Control and Prevention), Cigarette smoking causes almost half a million deaths in the US each year, more than motor vehicle accidents, firearms, alcohol, and illegal drug use combined. Once people start smoking, it can be difficult to stop, in large part because of the addictive nature of nicotine.Today, I had the pleasure of speaking with Brian Quigley. Brian is the CEO of Qnovia, a company with a unique approach to help people stop smoking. We discussed how difficult it is for people to stop smoking due to the physiologic dependence on nicotine coupled with behavioral addiction, such as having a cigarette with a cup of coffee. According to Brian, most people try and stop “cold turkey,” which is usually unsuccessful. Please watch this 25-minute interview with Brian Quigley to learn more about a new strategy for smoking cessation. For more information, check out his company's website here: www.Qnovia.comYou can also watch "The Art of Medicine with Dr. Andrew Wilner" on the web: www.youtube.com/c/andrewwilnermdauthorFeedback is welcome! The Medical Post of Canada. --- Send in a voice message: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/corgiov/message
Ambassador Dr. John N. Nkengasong, Ph.D. ( https://www.state.gov/biographies/john-n-nkengasong/ ), is U.S. Global AIDS Coordinator and Special Representative for Health Diplomacy, a position he was officially sworn in on June 13, 2022, where he leads, manages, and oversees the U.S. President's Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief (PEPFAR). PEPFAR is the largest commitment by any nation to address a single disease in history, prevent millions of HIV infections, save lives, and make progress toward ending the HIV/AIDS pandemic. Born in Cameroon, Dr. Nkengasong is the first person of African origin to hold this position. In 2017, Dr. Nkengasong was appointed as the first Director of the Africa Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (Africa CDC) headquartered in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. Through his leadership, a framework for moving Africa CDC into a full autonomous health agency of the Africa Union was established. Dr. Nkengasong led efforts to create policy frameworks to guide countries to establish and strengthen their public health institutes and defined and implemented a system to collate national surveillance data. He also led the COVID-19 response in Africa, coordinating with heads of state and governments across the continent, and among other achievements to fight the COVID-19 pandemic, he helped secure 400 million doses of COVID-19 vaccines at the height of vaccine scarcity. During his tenure, he was appointed as one of the World Health Organization's special envoys on COVID-19 preparedness and response. Dr. Nkengasong served as the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) Division of Global HIV and Tuberculosis' International Laboratory Branch Chief and as the Associate Director for Laboratory Science. Subsequently, he served as Acting Deputy Director at the CDC Center for Global Health and Co-Chair of the PEPFAR's Laboratory Technical Working Group. As a leading virologist with over 30 years of experience in public health, Dr. Nkengasong was appointed as a board member for the International AIDS Vaccine Initiative in New York, and the Coalition for Epidemic Preparedness Innovation, in Norway. Dr. Nkengasong received his B.Sc. from the Faculty of Science, University of Yaoundé, Cameroon; his M.Sc. from the Institute of Tropical Medicine, Antwerp, Belgium; and his Ph.D. from the Faculty of Medicine, University of Brussels, Belgium. He also received a Diploma in Leadership and Management from the Kennedy School of Government at Harvard University. Dr. Nkengasong is the recipient of numerous prestigious awards and recognitions. Most recently, he served as one of the World Health Organization Director General's Special Envoys for COVID-19. In 2021, Dr. Nkengasong was recognized as Time Magazine's 100 Most Influential People, where he was described as “a modern-day hero.” Additional awards include the U.S. Secretary of Health and Human Services Award for excellence in Public Health Protection Research, the Shepard Award, the U.S. Director's Recognitions Award and the William Watson Medal of Excellence, the highest recognition awarded by CDC; which was awarded for outstanding contributions and leadership in advancing global laboratory services and programs to support the PEPFAR. Most recently, Dr. Nkengasong was invited to become a member of the National Academy of Medicine and he became the first-ever laureate of the Virchow Prize for Global Health, for his dedication to improving the health and wellbeing of the world's most vulnerable people. He has authored or co-authored over 250 peer-reviewed papers and book chapters in professional journals. Support the show
According to VAERS (Vaccine Adverse Event Reporting System) the official national vaccine safety monitoring system powered by the CDC (Center for Disease Control), there are over 1,500,000 sustained vaccine injuries (including death) attributed in part to the administrations of the COVID-19 mRNA platform vaccines.According to the Harvard-Pilgrim study, VAERS data is underreported (for many reasons) and in order to calculate an approximate volume total of events, a VAERS reader can apply a factor of as much as 100 to the displayed number. Most health statisticians use a minimum of a factor of 30. This puts the approximate number of COVID vaccine injures at over 45,000,000.Fortunately, a group of physicians have put YOUR safety and health first, regardless of the resistance and lack of support that they have endured from several US government health organizations. Brianna Ladapo, the wife of the surgeon general of Florida, speaks out about how to transcend fear under pressure and the bravery we show when we endure suffering. She shares about what it takes to stand with courage and how her husband, Dr. Joseph Ladapo, "completely rejected fear" to push truth forward and do the right thing by disrupting false narratives and beliefs about the notion that healthy children, men, and women need this [COVID shot]. The CDC [Centers for Disease Control and Prevention] and the federal leadership spit out pure lies and false statements, and unfortunately, many people gobbled them up and interpreted them as the truth. So, it's refreshing to see people say, 'No, I don't think so.'" Don't miss this opportunity to listen in, friends. I know you'll be encouraged! CAN ACUPUNCTURE TREAT LONG COVID OR POST COVID SYMPTOMS? Better than you can imagine my friends, better than you could imagine. AAM was built for this type of multisystem mayhem. But before I get into the how, first I want to state that “Long Covid or “post COVID conditions” are considered western diagnosis. AAM cannot diagnose or treat CoVID or LONG Haul Covid, but we definitely can take someone who has been diagnosed or suspects they are suffering from the lasting effects of having had covid or strange symptoms from having a vaccine and treat them according to a chinese medical diagnoses. What I am saying is yes, but we would call it something different. According to the CDC (Centers for Disease Control and Prevention) “Post-COVID conditions are a wide range of new, returning, or ongoing health problems that people experience after first being infected with the virus that causes COVID-19. There is no test to diagnose post-COVID conditions, and people may have a wide variety of symptoms that could come from other health problems. This can make it difficult for healthcare providers to recognize post-COVID conditions. This right here is why Chinese medicine shines. We treat the body holistically which means it's all connected. We don't view the body as machinery and only focus on the systems separately. We have no need to differentiate Long Haul Covid symptoms from existing health conditions. Like I said, as an AAMP we take a look at the whole picture of you. Ask a gazillion questions about what happened to get you here and prescribe a treatment to help you heal. Again, according to the CDC Some people, especially those who had severe COVID-19, experience multiorgan effects or autoimmune conditions. Multiorgan effects can involve many body systems, including the heart, lung, kidney, skin, and brain. As a result of these effects, people who have had COVID-19 may be more likely to develop new health conditions such as diabetes, heart conditions, or neurological conditions compared with people who have not had COVID-19.” Multi organ effects and autoimmune conditions are extremely complicated for western medicine because there is a different provider for each system. Yet with AAM we are actually looking for patterns in the body that direct our diagnosis. We naturally expect that when we treat the root of the problem the symptoms will resolve. And yes, we want to clear everything up, and boost your health so that your condition does not develop into a more serious condition. If you are experiencing strange or even not strange post covid symptoms that western medicine doesn't have an answer for, give your local Acupuncturist a call. I think you will be pleasantly surprised. https://everyday-acupuncture.captivate.fm/teaforme (ECO-CHA ) Try Eco-Cha Tea! Mental Health at workplace We all know that a healthy environment is always important in growing a business. An organization were everyone works together in a friendly setting can be of a very great advantage to growing a successful business. When employees and their leaders work together they tend to promote a good, safe, healthy and quality work environment. which helps in generating good feedbacks and profits. Most employees tend to quit their jobs either because of so much unclear communication, mis-understanding, mental health related issues and many times employers do not understand and relate with the employees, just because they are the employers. Mental-Health disorder is real and shouldn't be played with or tolerated at work places. This could be in a form of bulling or harassment. Organizations should establish rules prohibiting harassment and bullying, a process for carrying out more disciplinary act towards complaints and consequences for violations. These topics aren't been talked about enough and it's heart breaking. I carried out few survey at my work place and asked employees why many of the workers resign and majority of them said it was due to stress, burnout, mental-health breakdown and excess work and been underpaid. All this balls down to Mental-health disorder at workplace. According to National library of medicine - statistics shows that 14.3% of deaths each year worldwide approximately 8 million deaths each year are caused by mental-health disorder. Between 2019 to 2022 the proportion of workers with symptoms of depression increased by 21%. 42% of workers said their work environment contributed to the mental health symptoms they experienced. Kindly follow the link https://www.cdc.gov/workplacehealthpromotion/initiatives/resource-center/index.html https://www.who.int/health-topics/mental-health#tab=tab_1 How to help and support employees at work place 1. Implement safety policies and practices 2. Check in with your employees 3. Create a positive environment 4. Awards-celebrate your employees 5.Give your employees listening ears when complains are carried out and make sure to implement disciplinary act to anyone who goes against the rules and policies. Benefits of working in a safe and healthy environment 1. Employees retention will increase 2. Improve ability to work

#87 | A Mindful Difficult Discussion about Suicide with Therapist Melody Murray On the Inspiring You Show, we have decided to start having mindful conversations on difficult subjects. May is Mental health awareness month so we are going to talk about Suicide. We encourage all of you to listen to this discussion of one of the most ‘taboo' topics that is begging for a frank and open discussion. Talking about suicide can be uncomfortable yet it's important for all of us to become better educated on the issue, work on prevention and remove the stigma. If you think it doesn't apply to you, check out the Stats below because it may apply to one of your loved ones, neighbors, co-workers or even one of your child's classmates. Last month April 2022, 20-year-old Lauren Bernett, a sophomore catcher and cleanup hitter for the James Madison University softball team, died. A medical examiner ruled the death a suicide. At least four other college athletes took their lives in March and April. At least five NCAA athletes have died by suicide in less than two months, leaving five families grieving and five teams figuring out how to cope. Over the past 20 years, the number of U.S. adults attempting suicide has jumped This indicates that a significant portion of our population is experiencing severe emotional issues and, at the very least, high levels of stress. According to the CDC (Center for Disease Control and Prevention): Suicide is a leading cause of death in the United States,3 with 45,979 deaths in 2020. This is about one death every 11 minutes.3 The number of people who think about or attempt suicide is even higher. In 2020, an estimated 12.2 million American adults seriously thought about suicide, 3.2 million planned a suicide attempt, and 1.2 million attempted suicide. Suicide affects all ages. In 2020, suicide was among the top 9 leading causes of death for people ages 10-64. Suicide was the second leading cause of death for people ages 10-14 and 25-34.3 One alarming aspect of suicide is its frequency among young people, particularly college students. Suicide is the #2 leading cause of death for college students. Experts urge colleges to invest in mental health services, rather than slash their budgets. One in four people aged 18 to 24 seriously contemplated suicide in June, according to new research from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. Pandemic Increasing Suicidal Ideation The COVID-19 pandemic has caused a dramatic rise in mental health problems. Joining us for this difficult conversation to bring awareness, tips, tools and support, we have therapist Melody Murray. Melody is also a motivational speaker teaching on topics such as self-care, effects of childhood trauma, coping techniques, creating and maintaining boundaries and managing suicidal ideation. Near the end of the episode, there is an energy healing meditation to support. Yet, if you or someone you know may be struggling with suicidal thoughts, you can call the U.S. National Suicide Prevention Lifeline at 800-273-TALK (8255) any time day or night. Crisis Text Line also provides free, 24/7, confidential support via text message to people in crisis when they dial 741741.

8.50am - Wellington CityIt's Sunday morning and it's the moment of truth. I'm in Wellington CBD and I am about to go and do my supervised RAT. I need a negative test in order to get on my flight to LA and then on to London later on today. So this is one of the places in Wellington (Chemist Warehouse) that does it. I'm recording this on my Apple Watch so I'm hopefully this is still going to be audible for you but I'm going to go in now. I'm about 10 minutes early for my appointment and let's see how we go …8.56amI’ve just done the test. You actually just do the test yourself - the pharmacist was there watching you and making sure your form is good. Just five twists in each nostril on the same swab and now I'm outside waiting. I will see if I just keep that one red line on the RAT - I am I'm hoping they don’t see two lines. Actually pretty nervous now. If I am positive, I don’t think I can fly for at least another 7 days. And that will screw a whole lot of arrangements up. 9.04amI just got my passport back but I've been told I've got another 15 minutes to wait which is more than a little nerve racking …9.20amOh that's an absolute relief. I've just got my Covid negative test back and I've got all the documentation - everything that I need now to board my plane to Los Angeles and London later on today. Gosh that was quite nerve racking but pretty simple. You do the test yourself but you are watched by the pharmacist to make sure that you're doing it correctly and they're the ones that do all the reagent stuff back behind the scenes whilst you're outside in the waiting. They see to all the paperwork for you - you do need to take your passport with you to confirm your identity and so that they can put that down on the documentation. I’m assuming that can be cross checked when you're at the airport. Alright, I hope that's helpful. I'm just going to hang out with my family now for the rest of the day and in a much more a stressfree way before I head to the airport around about 4 o'clock.3.30pm - Wellington Airport I'm here at Wellington airport and I'm just going to try and check in and see everything that's involved with that. Wish me luck once again.4pm Reflecting back on that little experience, walking through the airport maybe about 30% of people are wearing masks here in Wellington. Check-in itself was pretty easy. I presented my Covid vaccination proof - the international vaccine certificate, the Covid negative supervised RAT I did this morning, the CDC (Centers for Disease Control) form for the US was all signed and details completed, and the ESTA on my passport was all done. They did the usual thing with the passport and boarding cards and it was all pretty painless. They had a fish through my stuff in security and had a little bit of an issue with a coin purse that is a little bit too jammed with the silver quarter dollars.“Maybe take that out next time you go through security”, they said because I couldn't see through it. Other than that, I am I'm here with a coffee. I'll probably just sort this podcast out and take a few photos on my way through from Wellington up to Auckland. When I get to the airport I've been assured that there will be extra security for people going through to the US and I'll await to see what that's like. In the meantime, I'll guess I'll have that coffee - a decaf given it's so late at about 4 pm now. Get full access to Noise Reduction by Sarb Johal at noisereduction.substack.com/subscribe
Carol Smeja joins us for this episode, and goes in-depth about the instinctual way dogs should be eating their food…just like their relatives and ancestors, the wolves, do in the wild. Carol Smeja's career has focused in the area of psychology and sociology which culminated in her earning a Ph.D. and teaching. After leaving academia, she applied these roots in understanding the psychological and social dynamics of eating while working in and improving health & diet with government agencies including the USDA (United States Department of Agriculture) and the CDC (Center for Disease Control and Prevention). More recently, she has applied her extensive research and diagnostic training in understanding the eating behaviors of our dogs & cats by studying the natural and instinctive behaviors of their ancestral roots. And from observing her own dog Pipa, she and her husband developed a solution - The Mine Pet Platter. So what is "the feeding equation?" - It's how you combine what you feed and how you feed that food to your pet. As Carol notes on why pet platters are best for your pets... Dogs smell in 3-D just like, you know, our eyes bring the two different visions together. They smell in 3-D. And so respecting that nose is absolutely critical. I always say you want to make sure how you're feeding your pet develops a positive relationship with food, not a negative relationship with food. Do that by respecting their nose and not having anything project into it.How do we create a complete natural feeding experience? You want to make sure that you have a broad area to feed off of. You want to eliminate any potential issue that they see in terms of perceived threat or or their food being taken away. And you want to try to resemble a carcass as much as possible by spreading food across, but also having different pockets of protein and different varieties of food. Let them sniff out and explore.During the episode, we talk about a couple of books... https://www.tamingthewild.com/about-taming-the-wild (Taming The Wild from Brian Bailey) https://www.amazon.com/s?k=dr+conor+brady+feeding+dogs&gclid=Cj0KCQjwz7uRBhDRARIsAFqjulluJxJ9iBCOMdzsr0g-ETVg_kStTgkn73eLW9fvlBTK9G_kQVaOAIUaApWgEALw_wcB&hvadid=492845339997&hvdev=c&hvlocphy=9014879&hvnetw=g&hvqmt=e&hvrand=13411881579487017877&hvtargid=kwd-1092682009408&hydadcr=7466_9611873&tag=googhydr-20&ref=pd_sl_2o9ejsdto6_e (Dr. Conor Brady's Feeding Dogs Dry Or Raw? As we close out Black History Month this year, I wanted to put the spotlight on Black Maternal Health. This episode will be a 2-part series, dedicated to this topic.Maternal health has long been a concern in America for women of all races. The CDC (Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, has found that about 700 women die from complications related to pregnancy or childbirth every year. However, black women fared the worst, dying 2.5 times more often than white or hispanic women. That is why, I'm so thankful to have this chat with Daneen Sekoni today. I know you'll find her overall positivity and prospective of life, faith, and parenting infectious.Source: cdc.gov - National Vital Statistics System-‘Maternal Mortality Rates in the United States, 2019 by Donna L. This episode is dedicated to all of the souls who could not find the light, who were stuck in the darkness and never made it out. Suicide rates among Black children and teenagers are rising at an alarming rate and challenging public perceptions that Black youth don't commit suicide. Tonight we take a look at these frightening and grim statistics and give you some tools to help your child or a loved one who might be suffering in silence. In June 2020, a CDC –Centers for Disease Control and Prevention - survey of more than five-thousand people – adults age 18 and above showed 40 percent reported struggling with mental health or substance abuse, and 11 percent seriously considered suicide. (Reference https://www.cdc.gov/mmwr/volumes/69/wr/mm6932a1.htm) 2019 statistics released by the CDC –Centers for Disease Control and Prevention showed: • Suicide was the tenth leading cause of death overall the in United States, claiming the lives of over 47, 500 people. • The second leading cause of death among individuals between the ages of 10 and 34, the fourth leading cause among individuals between the ages of 35 and 44 • And there were nearly two and a half times as many suicides (47,511) in the United States as there were homicides (19,141). Alarmingly, statistics also show that the suicide death rate among Black youth has increased faster than any other racial or ethnic group. In April of 2019, the Congressional Black Caucus (CBC) set up the Emergency Taskforce on Black Youth Suicide and Mental Health. A report released showed an alarming increase in the suicide rates among Black children and teenagers over the past several years, contradicting historical data showing lower rates of suicide among Black Americans and challenging the public perception that Black youth don't commit suicide. Statistical data shows a different reality: • Suicide is the second leading cause of death among Black children ages 10 to 19 (resource National Institute of Mental Health) • Black and African American teenagers are more likely to attempt suicide than White teenagers (9.8% v. 6.1%) (resource U.S. Department of Health and Human Services Office of Minority Health) • 50% of all lifetime mental illness begins by age 14 (resource World Health Organization) • Actual suicide death rates for Black girls ages 13 to 19 increased by 182% from 2001 to 2017 (resource 2019 study published in the Journal of Community Health) • Black children had 37% fewer visits to psychiatrists and 47% fewer visits to any mental health professional compared to white children. She earned her BS Degree in Pharmacy from UCONN in 1998. Then, she earned her Post-Bac PharmD from the Medical University of South Carolina in Charleston in 2000. Renu did not know what she wanted to do with her PharmD when she graduated. According to Renu, “It's ok to not know and make it up as you go along.” She spent time in community practice as a floater, then entered the U.S. PHS. Her PHS service was interrupted briefly when she left PHS to join a clinical regulatory team at Genentech in San Francisco, CA. When that role ended, she rejoined PHS. As of October 2021, her total service time is approximately 10 years. While in her undergrad program at UCONN, Renu learned about PHS. A speaker from the Indian Health Service spoke to her class. After finishing her BS Degree in Pharmacy, Renu joined the U.S. PHS as a JRCOSTEP and completed a paid, 4-month rotation at a Psych Hospital in SE DC called St. Elizabeth's Hospital. She loved the experience and thought it was amazing! Students can join either the JRCOSTEP Program or the SRCOSTEP Program. Both are paid positions with benefits. Visit https://www.usphs.gov/students/ to learn more. During our conversation, I talked about my experience with PHS at the Federal Bureau of Prisons. I did an 8-week rotation at FCI Milan during the last semester of my BS Pharm Degree program at The University of Toledo College of Pharmacy in 2001. My pharmacist in charge was creative and resourceful, and she did amazing things with a small formulary. I learned a lot from her and that experience. I wanted to join the Navy upon graduation, but I was medically disqualified due to asthma. The United States Public Health Service (U.S. PHS) is led by the Surgeon General of the U.S. and is more than 200 years old. It is one of eight uniformed services and is the only one dedicated solely to protecting and advancing America's Public Health. As a U.S. PHS Officer, Renu is first in line to defend America from public health threats, including deploying for public health emergencies. She has deployed many times and provided essential healthcare to underserved and vulnerable populations. The U.S. Public Health Service used to be “pharmacy's best kept secret,” but that's not true anymore because PHS has played a prominent role in response to COVID. As a PHS Officer, there is an opportunity to serve in many HHS (U.S. Department of Health and Human Services) agencies. Examples include IHS (Indian Health Service), BOP (Federal Bureau of Prisons), NIH (National Institutes of Health), CDC (Centers for Disease Control and Prevention), FDA (Food and Drug Administration), EPA (Environmental Protection Agency), SAMSHA (Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration), and others. Being an Officer makes it easy to transfer among agencies. According to Renu, PHS Officer benefits are great! They are on the military pay scale with paid vacation, retirement benefits (with minimum of 20 years of service), medical benefits, the GI Bill and more. The CDC (Centers for Disease Control and Prevention) estimated last year that around 1 in 10 Americans has diabetes. And since November is a time when we often get together with relatives, some of you may be wondering, “How worried should I be about Diabetes based on my family history?” This episode will help to answer some of those questions. In this episode, we invited Dr. Toni Pollin to share her thoughts. Dr. Pollin is an Associate Professor in the Department of Medicine, Division of Endocrinology, Diabetes and Nutrition and in the Department of Epidemiology and Public Health at the University of Maryland School of Medicine, where she also leads a PhD/MS Track in Human Genetics. She is a board-certified genetic counselor and has a PhD in human genetics. For over 20 years, she has studied the genetic factors and their interaction with lifestyle, pharmaceutical, and environmental factors in type 2 diabetes and related cardiometabolic traits as well as conducted translational studies in how to identify, diagnosed, and promote individualized therapy for highly genetic diabetes subtypes known as monogenic diabetes. Her work has been funded by the American Heart Association and several NIH institutes, and she has authored or co-authored over 100 peer-reviewed publications.

In Heshy's third visit to the show, he discusses the malaise affecting everyday voters. Our glittering host Christopher Messina has been asking people across society to diagnose the ongoing decay of American society. Heshy offers solid observations on the apathy and fear of average citizens just trying to live their lives (relatively) free of the jackboot of an aggressive and often illegally-operated government. How, for example, can the damned CDC (Centers for Disease Control) unilaterally DESTROY the rights of property owners to be paid rent for providing housing? Join us for a gripping, timely and vital conversation! This governmental abuse is what happens when rational people fail to show up and VOTE! --- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/messytimes/message Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/messytimes/support

Gary O'Brien is an HIV/AIDS advocate and group facilitator at Being Alive LA, an HIV/AIDS non-profit based in Los Angeles. Gary and Oliver are both living with HIV, and this shared experience sparks an intimate dialogue about current issues HIV-positive people often face. Gary and Oliver talk about the global inequality in healthcare accessibility, and also bring up the fact that many people are still not aware of what HIV undetectable means—which raises a lot of questions such as: How to spread knowledge about HIV undetectable? How and when to disclose your status to your sexual partner when you are already HIV undetectable? What are some common discriminations HIV-positive and undetectable people receive? Gary and Oliver also recount the story of how they were infected with HIV and how they learn to accept living with this disease, with a more optimistic outlook. Andi Clark is known online as The Elite Trainer for Police and First Responders and creator of her signature program 911 Elite Performance. She’s the wife of a Police Officer and an expert in peak performance and how stress physically affects your body. She is renowned for her ability to reverse and prevent burnout in First Responders, then help them regain their athletic conditioning, so they can thrive throughout their entire career—online and offline—as well as her refreshingly relatable and no-BS approach. Life wasn’t always as burnout free for Andi. She has a genetic stress condition that puts her body into an increased stress response state all the time. Similar to what Police Officers and First Responders experience when they put on their uniform and mentally prepare for whatever may happen in their day. It took Andi over 20 years with two very big burnout crashes (one while pregnant) to figure out why her doctors, specialists and the prescriptions given to her were not able to help. And that what was happening to her was not a mental health issue. Through her recovery she formulated a completely different way to look at and handle burnout. Once she realized that her husband was thriving while his colleagues were struggling with the same symptoms, she had experience she knew that she couldn’t keep her findings to herself. They needed help. She could provide it. And 911 Lifestyle was born. Andi now speaks and coaches Officers and First Responders all over the world: Please remember, we need your help to allow us to assist our Brothers and Sisters in dire straits. Here are the forecasts and related information quoting The Motley Fool, “Rental vacancies are up 2.5% in Los Angeles on a year-over-year basis. As a result, rental rates are also down. Though, notably, they're only down 0.4%. However, investors will be heartened to know that this is likely to be a short-term issue. Vacancies are up as a result of an increase in the accessibility of remote work, but as LA seems to be preparing to reopen in the very near future, it is likely that people will return to the office and vacancies will soon start to decrease.” 2021 Los Angeles Real Estate Market Investing Forecast https://www.fool.com/millionacres/market/california/los-angeles/ Real Estate Tech Giants Are Shaken After a Q1 report, some of the biggest real estate tech giants like Compass, Redfin, and Zillow have started to come unglued and SoftBank’s miracle unicorn company Better is suggested to go public via SPAC as SPACs take a dive. Kathy shares unique insights on SHEDDING 2020, and gives us a vulnerable look at the many ways she has repeatedly had to reclaim her own worthiness. To begin, she shares the story of a life-alternating diagnosis that led her to an incident in the late 80s where she experienced a blood-to-cut-exposure as a trauma nurse, resulting in her later testing HIV positive.During this time, HIV was a death sentence. She was quickly taken off her job for fears of transmitting to others. Even her friends and people at church were all afraid. No one wanted to touch her or get near her. Isolated from everyone, she was having a hard time coping. She ended up in a hotel parking lot. Not wanting to be the poster child for the CDC (Center for Disease Control) as someone dying from AIDS, and in a state of irrational thinking, she turned to a bottle of sleeping pills to take her life. Just as she was about to take the pills there was a knock on the car window. A woman asked if she was okay, then she sat with Kathy and helped get her through the night.Shortly after that, Kathy received the results of new tests reporting she was now HIV negative. She decided to not live her life the same way again. She has no explanation to this day for the miraculous change in test results. She then went onto to become a national speaker--a huge surprise for someone who was once afraid to speak in front of a small group of people.Kathy explains the origin story of SHEDDING. She was talking with a coworker about a lizard. The coworker mentioned that if lizards don't shed their skin they will die. We humans can grow physically, mentally, and spiritually, but if we don't shed, we won't grow! It went off like a lightbulb in her mind and that was the birth of her "Shed or you're dead" revolution."It comes down to belief, a belief that I was called and I was placed on this earth to do this and that I had to step forward and take action. I was an instrument. My mouth said the words and my body stepped on the stage. And I had to claim the worthiness of my self, in that I had been called to do something very important on this earth." - Kathy DempseyTips for SHEDDING 2020:Shedding is a two-part process. It's letting go of the old, all those things that are no longer serving you, and it's embracing the new, and taking on those new skills and knowledge that will help you move forward. What happened with COVID-19 is many of us were forced to shed, instead of choosing what happens, according to Kathy. And, now we can more proactively choose going forward by:Owning the challengeAsking for helpManaging the "now" momentTaking care of yourselfRevisiting your expectationsDeveloping a planDiscovering the giftsLast January Kathy co-authored a book with Dr. David C. Helgeson, a clinical psychologist called SHED HAPPENS 7 Ways to Overcome Challenges at Work and in Life! A few months later COVID hit and they needed to author a COVID edition. "When you're in a crisis like we have been on a daily basis, you don't have time to stop and reflect. And what is so important is the learning does not come from the event. It comes from the reflection." - Kathy DempseyIn this episode, Kathy unpacks her view of 2021 as a change expert. She is also offering our listeners a free download of her book SHED HAPPENS for those who sign up on her website kathydempsey.com and she is providing a special sale price on the COVID edition of her book at kathydempsey.com/shedhappens.

In Keyaan's own words: The struggle with metrics affects all business leaders who strive to measure and communicate the value of their programs and initiatives. Security metrics might be the most difficult measurements to communicate because non-technical business leaders and security executives speak completely languages. This session shines a new light onto old security measurements to help our business counterparts see the information more clearly.

Carol Smeja sits down with our host Brittney Whiteford at the Raw Dog Summit in Chicago and divulges on the instinctual way dogs should be eating their food…just like their relatives and ancestors the wolves do in the wild. Carol Smeja's career has focused in the area of psychology and sociology which culminated in her earning a PhD and teaching.
