UFOs, Dolly Parton, and the Quest for Celebrity Aura

The Rizzuto Show

If aliens landed on Earth tomorrow, would humanity unite to welcome our new extraterrestrial neighbors… or would we immediately start arguing about who owns the spaceship? You already know the answer. This episode of The Rizzuto Show begins with a perfectly reasonable hypothetical: UFOs have landed and aliens are officially confirmed to be on Earth. How are you feeling? Curious? Terrified? Mostly annoyed that the 24-hour news cycle will somehow make it the third-biggest story of the afternoon? The crew dives into UFOs becoming UAPs, government disclosures, Bob Lazar, Area 51 and whether actual extraterrestrial visitors could finally unite humanity. Rafe thinks having one common alien enemy might finally turn us all into citizens of Earth. Moon isn't buying that optimism and figures we'd probably start fighting over which country gets custody of the aliens before they even get out of the ship. Sounds about right.Back on Earth, St. Louis is getting a little Hollywood treatment with The Streak, a sports comedy filming locally about Caltech's legendary basketball team snapping a 310-game losing streak. The production needs roughly 1,800 volunteer extras for basketball crowd scenes, meaning you too can spend five hours waiting around for your glorious half-second of blurry cinematic immortality. At least they're bringing stand-up comedians in to entertain the extras between takes. Then we enter conspiracy territory with Tropical Storm Dolly. Yes, shortly after Dolly Parton's passing, the next named Atlantic storm happens to be Dolly. No, they didn't name it after her. Yes, the names were already determined. And yes, people online are still turning it into a conspiracy because apparently coincidence was removed from the Internet's vocabulary sometime around 2017. It's the kind of discussion a comedy podcast was genetically engineered to handle. The show also remembers the incredible Tim Curry, looking back at everything from The Rocky Horror Picture Show and Clue to Home Alone 2, Congo and his nightmare-fueling performance as Pennywise in the 1990 TV adaptation of It. Somehow that horrifying sewer scene aired on network television and an entire generation of children was simply expected to sleep afterward. The '90s were built different.Crap on Celebrities brings even more chaos: the Blake Lively and Justin Baldoni legal saga, Jamie Foxx discussing changes made to Django Unchained, a Quentin Tarantino-written Cliff Booth project, the original Sandlot cast reuniting for Dugout Dads, and the revelation that Benny “The Jet” Rodriguez grew up to become a firefighter. There is also a detour into a bizarre 2015 incident involving actor Mike Vitar because apparently even The Sandlot can't survive this show without us finding something weird.Ozzy Osbourne is getting his own Halloween Horror Nights attraction, Boston is celebrating 50 years with previously unreleased demos, Eric Clapton and John Mayer have a limited-edition guitar collection benefiting Clapton's recovery center, and Rupert Grint is returning as an adult Ron Weasley on Broadway. It's celebrity news, music news and pop culture commentary delivered with the level of professionalism you've come to expect from people debating alien treaties earlier in the episode. But then comes the real scientific research:Who has the most aura?According to an online ranking of effortless presence, charisma and coolness, Keanu Reeves sits at number one.Number two?Jesus. That's correct. According to the Internet, Keanu Reeves has officially edged out Jesus in aura.John Cena, Willem Dafoe, Christian Bale, Tupac, Robert Downey Jr., Matthew McConaughey, Michael Jackson, Jim Carrey, The Rock and Henry Cavill also make appearances as the crew debates who actually deserves to rank among humanity's most effortlessly cool people. Michael Jackson at number eleven? Rafe has questions. And frankly, so should you. Finally, the crew returns to Dolly Parton's remarkable legacy and the mountain of projects she left behind, including products, productions and even a song intended for release around her 100th birthday. Meaning Dolly apparently planned her content calendar farther into the future than most of us have planned lunch.Aliens. UFO conspiracies. Tim Curry. Dolly Parton. Hollywood. Ozzy. The Sandlot. Celebrity gossip. And Keanu Reeves defeating the Son of God in an online aura ranking. That's your comedy podcast for the day.Humanity might not be ready for aliens. We're apparently barely ready for a celebrity aura poll.Follow The Rizzuto Show → linktr.ee/rizzshow for more from your favorite daily comedy show.Connect with The Rizzuto Show Comedy Podcast online → 1057thepoint.com/RizzShow.Hear The Rizz Show daily on the radio at 105.7 The Point | Hubbard Radio in St. Louis, MO.See Privacy Policy at https://art19.com/privacy and California Privacy Notice at https://art19.com/privacy#do-not-sell-my-info.

Kliph Nesteroff Explains Why Canadians are Funnier than Jay Is

Comedy historian and author Kliph Nesteroff joins Jay to answer one of life's great mysteries: Why are Canadians so damn funny? From Jim Carrey and Norm Macdonald to Kids in the Hall, Nathan Fielder, SCTV, Michael J. Fox, and countless others, Canada has produced an absurd amount of comedy talent. Kliph has a theory about why — and it might have something to do with being an outsider looking in on America. Kliph also tells Jay about growing up in rural Canada, obsessing over comedy and The Simpsons, becoming “California sober” before ever moving to California, and the legendary high school election where he roasted his teachers in front of the entire school, won the presidency 398–2… and promptly got kicked out. They also dig into the strange history of Canadian television, why some brilliant Canadian comedians never become famous in America, what actually makes something funny, and why Southern California apparently doesn't count as moving to the United States. Kliph's new book, Sorry, We're Funny: How Canada Became a Comedy Powerhouse, explores how a country once dismissed as humorless became responsible for some of the funniest people in entertainment. And after nearly an hour of discussing what makes Canadians funny, absolutely no progress is made toward explaining Jay. Bio: Kliph Nesteroff is the author of four books about comedy: The Comedians, We Had a Little Real Estate Problem, Outrageous and the forthcoming Sorry, We're Funny: How Canada Became a Comedy Powerhouse. He often appears in his capacity as comedy historian on CNN, HBO and Vice and has worked on projects with Judd Apatow, Albert Brooks and the late Rob Reiner. Born in Castlegar, British Columbia, he grew up watching Wayne and Shuster and the Kids in the Hall on CBC. The Tim Conway Jr Show Hour 3 (8.10) The Powerball jackpot has climbed to $905 million after another weekend without a winner, and Timmy is already fantasizing about all the rich-jerk moves he’d make if he hit it — starting with loudly telling everyone how wealthy he is. Metrolink service between Laguna Niguel and Oceanside is temporarily suspended due to high-tide concerns. In Hollywood news, Jim Carrey is set to star in the live-action Jetsons movie. There’s been another shark encounter: a great white grabbed a lifeguard’s rescue buoy and dragged him under about five feet. Over the weekend, at least a dozen sharks were spotted off beaches in Maine. Breaking: A high-speed pursuit is underway in the Valley, with a suspected drunk driver hitting 100 mph on the 101 southbound toward the 405. Is he racing to Gelson’s or In-N-Out? Coming up Saturday, August 22, the 13 Souls Run in Simi Valley honors the 13 service members killed in the Afghanistan withdrawal bombing. It’s been 11 years since Silentó’s massive hit “Watch Me (Whip/Nae Nae)” — the rapper could have had a huge career but instead ended up convicted in the killing of his cousin. On a much brighter note, a Wendy’s worker used the company’s education benefits to go to community college, then transferred to Yale to study political science. Atta boy. Finally, there’s a widespread jalapeño recall tied to a salmonella outbreak that’s also hit Chipotle hard, and Timmy takes aim at stores using surveillance pricing. How dare they. Our crime fighting trio voluntarily hurls themselves into Joel Schumacher's radioactive fever dream this week by revisiting Batman Forever (1995) and Batman & Robin (1997), where every streetlight is apparently a blacklight, every criminal belongs to a themed fashion gang, and Val Kilmer is unanimously crowned the hottest Batman to ever brood beneath a cowl. Sorry, George. The gang breaks down why Kilmer somehow nails both Bruce Wayne and Batman, why Clooney spends most of Batman & Robin sounding like he's reading cue cards held hostage just off camera, and why Arnold Schwarzenegger's Mr. Freeze deserves either an Oscar or a lifetime ban from speaking in public. Somewhere between ice pun #47 and ice pun #72, the conversation evolves into the realization that Batman could have ended the movie 15 different times if he'd simply thrown literally anything at Mr. Freeze instead of politely waiting for him to finish his stand-up routine. Of course, no Schumacher discussion would be completewithout celebrating Jim Carrey's beautifully deranged Riddler, Tommy Lee Jones' aggressively theatrical Two-Face, Gotham's inexplicably fabulous glow-stick street gangs, and the discovery that every supervillain in the city must share the same criminal seamstress. Seriously... who keeps making these immaculatecustom henchman uniforms? Is there a union? Is there a rewards program? Does Riddler get 15% off after ordering matching jackets? We demand answers.Along the way, we ask Gotham's most important questions: Why is Riddler Island covered in giant glowing questionmarks if nobody is supposed to know where the Riddler lives? Why does every gang member look like they just got kicked out of a goth laser tag tournament? And perhaps the greatest mystery in comic book history... who approved all those bat nipples?Come for the Batman discussions, stay for the cinematic nonsense that somehow just keeps getting better.

Warner Bros. Discovery confirmed a live-action The Jetsons movie starring Jim Carrey on its Q2 2026 earnings call, and Frank breaks down why the casting is doing all the heavy lifting so far. A Jetsons reboot on its own would be an easy shrug. The Flintstones already ran that play in the 90s. What makes this one different is that Carrey is in the middle of a genuine second wind, coming off the Sonic the Hedgehog franchise and heading into a Grinch remake.Frank makes the case that Warner Bros. has the tools to do something stranger than a straight adaptation. Barbie proved the studio will greenlight a meta take on a legacy property, and The Jetsons is sitting on an obvious hook: the retro-futurist world the show promised in 1962 is not the future anyone actually got. Pull George Jetson into the real 2026 and let him ask where his flying car went while he stares at a Roomba. That is a movie with a reason to exist beyond nostalgia. The segment closes with a look at the rest of the earnings call, which mostly reaffirmed titles already on the books. Aegon's Conquest from the Game of Thrones universe, the next Matrix installment, and the next Batman film all sit on the same post-2027 slate as The Jetsons.Solo segment, no guest on this one.0:00 Jim Carrey lands The Jetsons0:24 The Jim Carrey second wind, from Sonic to The Grinch0:40 What a Barbie-style meta approach could unlock0:58 Making a Jetsons movie worth watching1:11 Digging through the rest of the WB earnings callJim Carrey is attached to star in a live-action The Jetsons, presumably as George Jetson, confirmed on the Warner Bros. What is life if you're not chasing something? That question runs through so much of modern productivity culture, and I got caught up in it myself — in my own career, I always needed the next title, the next promotion, the next thing. This episode makes the case for a different standard: not an optimized life, but a pretty darn good one. Not all-or-nothing. Piece by piece. The Pretty Darn Good JobThe optimized version chases the next title, the next exit strategy, the constant hustle. The pretty darn good version pays fairly, doesn't wreck your evenings, and leaves you liking who you are by Friday. That's not settling — it's what makes the rest of your life possible. The Pretty Darn Good HomeInstead of a house that's a perpetual renovation project chasing a magazine spread, a pretty darn good home is warm, lived-in, and comfortable enough that you're not embarrassed to have someone over on a random Tuesday. The Pretty Darn Good PeopleOptimized relationships treat people like a network to be leveled up. Pretty darn good relationships are the people you actually want at your table — imperfect, but the ones who make you happiest. The Cost of the Extreme VersionA spectacular career can come at the expense of your health or your family — I've lived that trade-off myself. A “solidly good” life isn't spectacular anywhere, but it's steady everywhere, and that adds up to more than one blazing area surrounded by wreckage. I bring in Jim Carrey's well-known 2005 comment about wishing everyone could get everything they dreamed of, just to see for themselves it isn't the answer.Being Fair to the Other SideHustle culture isn't hollow — some people are genuinely wired for maximum drive, and real innovation gets built by people chasing extreme outcomes. The honest question isn't whether to ever optimize, but which one lane in your life actually deserves that kind of attention right now.The Complacency Trap“Pretty darn good” can become a costume for avoidance if you're not careful. The honest move is to check yourself: is this actually fine, or are you just scared to change it?Three small steps this week: pick one lane that deserves real attention and name it. For everything else, ask honestly if it's pretty darn good — and if it is, let yourself stop there. And check yourself on the complacency trap, because if something really does need to change, it's worth the effort. Send us Fan MailHello, passionate cruisers! This is Paul. I am delighted to welcome this week on The Joy of Cruising Podcast, Comedian Jeff Nease. Listeners know that in addition to my passion for cruising, I am passionate about music and stand-up comedy. Accordingly, on The Joy of Cruising Podcast I love hosting performers from cruise ships, and Jeff has headlined on virtually every major cruise line, so I am excited to have a conversation with him. ‘Hilarious!' Observational, Conversational and often, Standing Ovational, Jeff Nease is there whenever ‘You Need Funny!' Jeff began his career in 1987. The performing ‘bug' bit while studying film and theater at the University of Toledo. Propelled by his love of the comedy albums of George Carlin, Steve Martin, Bill Cosby and Bob Newhart, it wasn't long before he found himself stepping on the stage of the local comedy venue ‘The Toledo Comedy Club'. He began to hone his craft anywhere he could find an audience: nightclubs, rock bars, colleges and lounges in and around his hometown in Northwest Ohio and Detroit, Michigan. Jeff applied his theater training as a founding member of the improvisational group ‘The Improvables'. This experience helped form the spontaneous element his show is known for. If you've ever convinced yourself you were dying only to discover you just forgot your morning coffee, congratulations—you and Moon have something in common. This episode begins with Moon's dramatic weekend health crisis, which included headaches, body aches, sweating, canceled plans, and a genuine belief that he had caught the flu. After missing parties, skipping events, and suffering through a soccer match, the shocking diagnosis arrived: accidental caffeine withdrawal. One decaf mistake later, Moon was spiraling. Two rose lattes later, he was ready to conquer the world, write albums, and possibly become mayor of Paris.Meanwhile, the crew breaks down one of the most unexpected party surprises in recent memory when former Blues star Jamie Rivers decides the perfect pool-opening gift for his fiancée Ashley is... live monkeys. Not monkey decorations. Not monkey-themed cupcakes. Actual monkeys. Naturally, the monkeys arrive during a crowded backyard party packed with guests, children, music, and enough chaos to make everyone question several life choices. The result is equal parts adorable, confusing, and mildly terrifying. The conversation somehow escalates into monkey behavior analysis, party planning mistakes, surprise animal logistics, and the realization that getting bitten by a monkey in a bikini was probably not on anyone's weekend bingo card. The gang also recaps King Scott's massive baby shower, complete with mountains of gifts, bacon, desserts, and the looming anticipation of the show's upcoming gender reveal. There are discussions about weird party foods, mysterious hot-dog cake creations, and why some recipes should maybe stay inside family cookbooks. As if that wasn't enough, Rafe conducts what can only be described as investigative journalism by revisiting a local Hooters. What follows is an unexpectedly deep exploration of restaurant culture, paper plates, silent dining rooms, forgotten glory days, and whether a restaurant can accidentally become an existential experience. It's part food review, part sociology experiment, and part cry for help. The crew also tackles one of life's toughest questions: what's the saddest food to eat alone? Cake? Ice cream? A blooming onion? The answers get surprisingly personal as stories of lonely desserts, spaghetti mishaps, old promotional cakes, and questionable life decisions come flooding out. From caffeine dependency and monkey business to restaurant nostalgia and emotional food debates, this episode delivers exactly the kind of beautiful nonsense that makes this daily comedy show what it is. If you're looking for a daily comedy show that can seamlessly connect French coffee, poolside monkeys, hot-dog cake, and Hooters trivia without ever making sense, you've found your people. One minute you're discussing legendary comedians. The next minute you're getting shot with an Airsoft gun to reveal a baby's gender. Just another completely normal day on The Rizzuto Show.Episode 101 delivers exactly the kind of chaos you'd expect from your favorite daily comedy show. King Scott finally reveals whether he's having a boy or a girl, but because this is The Rizzuto Show, the reveal involves questionable planning, poor weapon handling, and two unsuspecting coworkers standing against a wall hoping they don't get blasted. Radio professionalism remains undefeated. Before the big reveal, the gang gears up for Night of the Rizzlies at the Gateway Grizzlies game, debates who can throw the fastest first pitch without embarrassing themselves, and questions whether Moon's partially destroyed knee can survive an outfield race. The confidence level is high. The odds of injury are somehow even higher. Then things get surprisingly heated when the crew tackles one of the biggest comedy questions imaginable: Who is the greatest stand-up comedian turned actor of all time? Robin Williams? Eddie Murphy? Jim Carrey? Steve Martin? Adam Sandler? Billy Crystal? The debate spirals into movie history, personal rankings, forgotten classics, and enough opinions to start at least three internet arguments. In Crap On Celebrities, Lern brings everything from Beastie Boys news and Marilyn Manson legal updates to TV cancellations, celebrity health stories, Hulk Hogan documentary discussion, and one of the strangest medical conditions anyone has ever heard of. Apparently some people sneeze when they're too full. The show spends an alarming amount of time exploring that concept. The gang also revisits cult classics like The Cable Guy, argues over the true Mount Rushmore of 1970s rock bands, and somehow turns a discussion about diarrhea into a surprisingly detailed scientific investigation. Nobody asked for that. Yet here we are.And because becoming a father isn't stressful enough, King Scott sticks around for "Feed Baby Scott," where listeners try to identify mystery baby foods while Scott gets spoon-fed questionable purees. Future fatherhood preparation? Not exactly. Entertaining radio? Absolutely.Today's episode of The Rizzuto Show answers a question absolutely nobody asked: can King Scott identify baby food flavors while blindfolded and trapped in audio isolation?Armed with an airplane spoon, questionable parenting products, and the confidence of a man who claimed he'd "never gotten this wrong before," Scott stepped into one of the weirdest challenges we've ever put on the show. What followed was a rollercoaster of carrots, sweet peas, green beans, applesauce, chicken broth, and enough pureed mystery meat to make everyone in the room reconsider modern food science.Things start innocent enough when Scott confidently nails carrot. That's where the success story ends. Soon he's identifying sweet peas as asparagus, green beans as apricot, and repeatedly convincing himself that every suspicious meat product on earth somehow tastes like tuna. Meanwhile, Moon embraces his new role as Baby Food Sommelier, Rafe nearly loses his lunch from the smell of ham puree, and Lern spends most of the challenge laughing at Scott looking like he's awaiting sentencing in the electric chair.Along the way, the gang talks about the upcoming Operation Food Search canned food drive, broadcasting outside the station for the first time in years, and why the studio might actually be the sixth member of the show. Then it's right back to watching a grown man try to process flavors designed for people who can't legally walk yet.The real star of the show might be the baby food itself. The ham and gravy drew immediate comparisons to cat food. The chicken and broth somehow smelled worse. Multiple show members gagged. One nearly threw up. Scott requested second bites of several flavors despite clear evidence that his taste buds had already filed formal complaints. If you've ever wondered what happens when confidence collides head-on with pureed meat products, this episode delivers. It's a masterclass in bad guesses, terrible smells, and the kind of chaos that only happens when a daily radio show decides to turn one of its hosts into a giant toddler for entertainment purposes. This is exactly the kind of funny podcast nonsense that keeps us employed. It's a funny podcast filled with bad decisions, questionable food choices, and a shocking amount of discussion about tuna that wasn't actually tuna. If you love a funny podcast featuring hilarious fails, weird food challenges, sarcastic humor, and friends roasting each other for nearly half an hour, welcome home.Featuring:King Scott vs. baby foodThe ham puree incidentThe Great Tuna ConfusionMoon's elite airplane-spoon techniqueRafe's battle with nauseaMultiple audience predictionsOne very concerned future fatherEnough chicken broth to haunt a studio foreverThe Rizzuto Show: proving once again that adulthood is mostly just childhood with bills.Follow The Rizzuto Show → https://linktr.ee/rizzshow for more from your favorite daily comedy show.Connect with The Rizzuto Show Comedy Podcast online → https://1057thepoint.com/RizzShow.Hear The Rizz Show daily on the radio at 105.7 The Point | Hubbard Radio in St. Louis, MO.Belleville's Skyview Drive-In is now for saleBear sightings prompt warnings in Franklin County'Pure Panic': Glacier Grizzly Attack Survivor Shares the Story of the Rescue That Saved HimSt. Louis woman stabs man in head with railroad spike after fight over lottery ticketSee Privacy Policy at https://art19.com/privacy and California Privacy Notice at https://art19.com/privacy#do-not-sell-my-info.
